Note
I come to your aid, my dear writer!
an idea would be an adhd!gn!reader that always manages to survive, but no one understands how.
they get distracted easily, can't concentrate for too long when someone is explaining the plan, and start wandering off to explore, etc.
everyone think they survive only thanks to the rest of the group
but chishiya is the only one who sees the truth (reader finds important clues at early stages of the game while wandering off, they try to explain what they believe is the right answer (normally being the right answer) but no one manages to understand what they mean because reader doesn't explain their full thought process or forgets to add context, asking simple questions out of curiosity and sometimes helping the group realise stuff, their previous fixations on random hobbies being useful, etc)
also, the reader is usually calm and unbothered about the situation, always in a good mood
people underestimate them a lot

gn reader with adhd x Alice In Borderland
It was time to play another game, you had only two days left on your visa which left you with no other choice. Hatter teamed you up with Kuina and Chishiya, something that made you feel safer. You drove to the location of your assigned game, a mansion in the Aoyama area, one of the wealthiest in Tokyo. You enter the entrance hall and each grab a phone off the table. In the room are two other players waiting for the game to start. A man fitting the aesthetic of the area, wearing an expensive watch and an even more expensive-looking suit is tapping his foot impatiently on the marble floor. And a posh older woman who could easily be your grandmother, fidgeting with her pearl necklace.
Chishiya immediately starts analyzing the people and the room while Kuina greets the other players. The registration closes and an arrow appears pointing to an opening door, everyone hurries inside and the door closes behind you. On your phones appear the ace of clubs and a voice starts explaining the rules. “Game: escape room. Find clues and get out of the room in time.” You laugh “An ace? We’re definitely gonna ace this” you look at your friends to see if they got your joke, Chishiya rolls his eyes while Kuina snorts. They got used to your humor by now but you never skip the opportunity to make a cheesy joke to lighten the mood.
“Thirty minutes left.” You look up at Chishiya as he begins speaking: “Okay, the room is big so let’s split up to cover the ground faster. Share everything…” You look around the room as your attention is pulled to a big bookcase. You tilt your head to read the titles. “I loved this book, ooh, Kuina you will really like this one!” “... and lastly we need a code to open that door.” Chishiya ends his little instruction talk. Everyone splits up to look for clues, the room is basically a large living room. Decorated with lavish couches and baroque art. After scanning the shelf with books you notice an aquarium with a small turtle. You smile as you watch it move, becoming hypnotized by the cute animal.
Meanwhile, the others were searching frantically for the key that would open a box. You got taken out of your trance when someone yanked you backward. “Search the fucking key you idiot” the posh asshole swears as he grips the front of your shirt. Immediately Chishiya and Kuina come to your aid. “Look violence isn’t gonna solve this game, so leave him alone” Kuina speaks. The guy lets go of you and points at the box, “We need a key to open it, search for it.“ You take it from Chishiya’s hands and examine it. It’s a wooden box, decorated with flowers, one flower stands out, a carnation. “Hey, Kuina did you know that a green carnation used to be a symbol to show that you were queer. It was popularized by…” You rush to the bookshelf as the others stand in confusion, your fingers trace the names of authors until you find the one you’re looking for: Oscar Wilde. You take it off the shelf and read the title. “The Picture Of Dorian Gray” you exclaim “I loved this book! The way Wilde portrays the dark side of humanity…” “Y/N!” Kuina signals. “Oops sorry. Does anyone have a knife?” “I do” the old woman proclaims while waving her purse in the air. She pulls the knife out of it but hesitates to hand it over. “What are you going to…” Chishiya snatches it from her before she’s able to finish her sentence. “Just trust them.”
He gives you the knife and you walk determined towards the portrait hanging above the fireplace and slash it. Behind the canvas a key appears, you grab it and toss it at Kuina who opens the box. “Ten minutes left.” The box contains a riddle that gets rapidly solved by Chishiya, the riddle leads to another clue. It keeps on going like this and it looks like you were almost there. You slowly gravitate back to the turtle.
“Five minutes left” the voice chimes. Behind you, the others cheer because they found the final code. You join them as Chishiya types it in. The door opens but you were met with another one. A sorrowful sigh left the older lady and the man punches the wall. The door was beautiful, so would have been escaping but you could just as well admire the craftwork that went into making the door. Beautiful curves, leaves, a turtle. A turtle. “One minute left.” You reach for the wooden turtle and start pushing it. It moved. You copy the unusual trail of the actual turtle, which had made you so interested in it in the first place: a triangle.
The door opens and everyone leaps through just in time before the floor collapses. You look at your friends in shock before grinning widely. “I fucking love you y/n” Kuina sighs as she pulls you into a hug, Chishiya pats your back “Well done.”
notes: I hope you enjoyed it! it was fun writing a reader with adhd and putting some of my own special interests in it ;) (queer history)

Teach me some bad words
Tumblr media
Fandom: Alice in Borderland
Pairing: (platonic) Chishiya x gn!reader, (platonic) Kuina x gn!reader
Characters: Shuntaro Chishiya, Hikari Kuina, Suguru Niragi
Used Pronouns: They/Them
Genre: funny
Warnings: some cursing words
A/N: Don’t ask me why Chishiya from all people is playing a spades game, just accept it and move on
P.S.: Reader flirts with a tiger than proceeds to smack the tiger with a walking stick
Tumblr media
Summary: You ask Chishiya and Kuina to teach you some bad words in Japanese. You don’t speak Japanese.
Word Count: 0.8k
Tumblr media
your native language wasn’t Japanese
to be honest, you can barely speak the language
you were supposed to be enjoying your holidays
instead, you were obligated to join these death or life games
and that’s exactly what you were about to do
You sat on the floor staring at the people walking into the waiting room while stuffing chips in your mouth. Beside you stood Chishiya in his iconic stance, leaning against the wall, and with his hoodie on.
“Teach me bad words”
Kuina, who stood beside Chishiya, chewing on her fake cigar, sent Chishiya a warning look. Chishiya looked down hesitantly, remembering the last time he answered one of your wishes. “Why do you want to learn bad words?”
You shrugged, “If I’m going to insult someone they might as well understand me.” Your eyes met his. You stayed like that for a solid one minute. You were expecting him to teach you the whole Japanese thesaurus for cursing words and to make sure of it, you activated your ultimate weapon: the puppy eyes.
The fake blonde straight-up ignored you. He just looked back up, lost in thought.
Was it wise to teach bad words to you? Especially to you? In the best-case scenario, you would use them wisely. Worst case scenario, your dumb ass would cause the next world war. That was the problem of you being a chaotic, dumb genius. At the same time, he was curious about how you would use the newly acquired knowledge. But again, he wouldn’t want to be responsible for that chaos.
You pulled from his jacket, demanding attention. “Oi, teach me a bad word. Chishiya, Chishiya, Chishiya, Chishiya, Chishiya”, you could go on for days if it meant getting what you wanted. “No, he won’t do it.”, Kuina looked down at you with a strict expression on her face and you stopped your actions immediately. Your eyes went from the shorter to her, then to him again and finally to her. A smile crept on your face. “Kuiiinnaaaa”, your face beamed with excitement the moment you spoke it again, “Can you teach me a bad word?” Chishiya couldn’t help but chuckle. He looked at Kuina expectantly.
“Okay”, she positioned herself in front of you. Neither Chishiya nor you had expected her to give in to your pleas. But he would soon realise her original plan. “あなたは美しいです”, she said. You blinked, “come again?”. She rolled her eyes and repeated the sentence until you had it right. “What does it mean?” “You filthy pig”. Chishiya smirked shaking his head. You smiled happily and mumbled the sentence several times for yourself before the game started.
The game consisted in escaping the area alive, as some zoo animals would be running wild and free, waiting for their next meal.
Hopefully not you
Niragi was having the time of his life shooting at the animals from afar. His maniacal laugh echoed throughout the whole place, just like the shooting sounds. “あなたは美しいです!  あなたは美しいです!!” Niragi looked down, trying to find the source of the noise. Then he saw you running away from a tiger as if it depended on your life. Which it actually did. It was nice to see you fearing for your life, but why on earth were you screaming “you are beautiful” so aggressively? He shook his head. You do you, he thought. It wouldn’t be the first time you tried flirting with your opponent to save your own ass. Maybe it could work, who knows how strong your charm was. He shrugged and continued blasting off the heads of the animals.
-----------------
Chishiya and Kuina were taking cover behind some vegetation, discussing the next steps, when they suddenly heard you screaming the words Kuina had taught you at the beginning. They looked in your direction, only to see you smaking the same tiger that had been pursuing you throughout the whole game with a metallic walking stick. The tiger had been shot several times by some beach people while you were running, and now the tiger was weaker and more vulnerable. Not only the tiger’s body was hurt, but also his ego, as he was hit with a stick by a young adult and getting destroyed by it. “ あなたは美しいです, you motherfucker!”
-----------------
“Should we stop them?”, said Kuina in between amusement and concern. “No, let them blow some steam.” Chishiya smiled satisfied. This was worth remembering, “Are you going to tell him?” “What? That that’s not an actual insult? They’ll figure it out, eventually”, she chuckled, and finally went to your aid.

Niragi x GN!Reader
Genre: Platonic [TW: Mentions of Niragi hurting reader, mentions of getting choked] Angst to Fluff In which someone finally doesn't see Niragi as just a monster
["Cause you brought out the best of me You took my soul wiped it clean"]
Suguru Niragi
Who was he known as, back in school days? The wimp. The loser. The freak. Good for nothing. The nerd. A weak boy. He would always be tormented by classmates and upperclassmen. His first ever girlfriend was just using him.
"What makes you think I love you?" She had laughed at him as he stood in the gym, surrounded by his classmates. "I just used you. You're smart, why would I let that go to waste? Goodness, you're so hopeless. Maybe learn not to trust so much next time, hm?" She jabbed her finger on his forehead multiple times, his classmates taking videos and laughing while he teared up feeling so ashamed.
That was probably the reason he changed so much.
Suguru Niragi
Who was he known as? A psychopath. A merciless man. Arrogant and prideful. Uncaring and nonchalant. An abuser, a delinquent.
A monster
He gave the people what they thought of him, and he didn't care. He finally felt superior to everyone, no one could hurt him anymore. If they call him a monster he'll be one. He no longer trusted people, and bringing pain to them made him feel better about himself.
No, he was no longer that weak school boy that never fought back. He wasn't the school boy that would let himself get beaten to a pulp. He was no longer that school boy that let people use him. No, in this case, he would be the one doing it to people without mercy.
After all, they deserve to be put through the hell they served him on a golden platter right?
Then came a new beach member, number 306. Y/N L/N.
Niragi had this thing where he'd torture the new members for weeks to test their patience and also for his pleasure. Y/N unfortunately would face that.
He gave no mercy, always hitting them or saying horrible things. The only strange thing was that he couldn't bring himself to use them for his pleasures. He couldn't seem to be able to do such a thing.
But why? Why, when he could do it to others with no hesitation? Why did he have second thoughts when hurting them?
They too didn't seem so bothered about it. No matter what he did, they were always so optimistic. They were a bundle of balled up unreleased sunshine waiting to bring light to their cruel reality.
Niragi had been annoyed, and decided to confront them. He found them by the roof, and he grabbed them by the arm pinning them to the wall and wrapping his hand around their throat harshly. Y/N seemed unfazed, only slightly raising their eyebrows.
"I didn't think you'd be awake, hello Niragi-san" They said calmly.
"Your expression sickens me, so does your voice" He spat. "Why are you so calm huh? Why can't you just be freaked out like the others? You think I'm a monster huh? Just say it!" He yelled
"What? A monster? Who would think of you that way? I don't"
His expression softened, his grip on their neck loosening.
"What?"
They held the hand that Niragi had on their neck, wrapping their palm around his wrist gently. Niragi looked at the gesture and back up to see them smiling softly at him, looking at his eyes.
"I was your underclassman, back at our school. I didn't like seeing you get so hurt, but I couldn't stand up for you. I too was in your situation. Mocked, ridiculed, bullied, abused, used and many more. I looked up to you so much you know? No matter what they did to you, you didn't hurt them back. If I were you, I'd be in so much rage." Y/N explained and Niragi stayed silent, wanting to hear more.
"This cruel reality shows up out of nowhere years later after we left the school. I saw you once before, and I noticed how much you'd improved." Y/N gestured to him, chuckling.
"When I got here and I saw you, I was so relieved. I was so happy to see someone I knew, but when I saw the way you acted I was so confused. I wanted to hate you, to hit you, to call you a monster." The last word was venom-laced and Niragi had drew in a sharp breath, his grip on their neck tightening ever so slightly as he felt suddenly weak- he was being ridiculed just like before, and he didn't like it.
"But then I understood that you aren't really a monster."
"Obviously, your school experience was horrible. It drove you to be the worst version of yourself. Here you are, hurting people and finding joy in it. Wouldn't it be pathetic of me to call you a monster, when the real monsters created who you became now?" They asked him; and his grip faltered as he searched their eyes for any hidden remorse or manipulation, yet he saw none.
Y/N L/N was being truly genuine to him, something he never received often from anyone he ever met.
"I believe you are a good person. The cruelty of this world has driven you to light the match to the gas they spilled before you, and you got caught in it. I believe you could be better, if only you don't let the wickedness faze you." They reached up, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"You aren't a monster, Niragi. I know you don't like who you are now, and that you want to put an end to this. Prove to me, that you aren't monster."
Niragi dropped his hand that was around their neck, noticing the reddish mark he had left. He had been so cruel to them, yet here they were without an ounce of hate for him in their heart. For the first time, he felt like someone actually cared for him. That they weren't just manipulating him to use him in the future, or that they were only saying this to save themselves.
No, it felt all too genuine. Rather than pushing him away, they made him realize his potential. They stayed even though they could be burned by the flames of his wrath. For the first time in years, someone gave him a name. He wasn't a nobody anymore. Y/N L/N made him feel human, made him feel he was worth being loved. Y/N L/N made him feel important, cherished and respected.
"I'm sorry for hurting you, I'll prove to you that I can be better." He bowed his head, and Y/N gave him a tight warm hug.
"I knew you had it in you."
He smiled to himself, hearing that Y/N had faith in him. He felt proud knowing someone believed in him, that someone trusted him.
'I'm not a monster.' He told himself.
He was Suguru Niragi.
Author's note: I made this fic because I remembered Niragi's backstory. It was a pity he still ended up being the bad guy, I was so happy to see his character development but it turns out it was only a false hope :( I wondered what would have happened if he actually became nice, that would've been great to see. I know he was an abuser and that's nothing to be taken lightly, but a part of me hoped he had actually changed for the better, though I did know it would be impossible. If you don't agree with me, it's fine. This is only my opinion on Niragi's character, so please refrain from sending hate in the comments, thanks! <33

Your footsteps were purposefully quiet as you made your way to the side of the building you’d sought shelter in. You palms started to sweat again as you held on tight to your gun. It was your only chance.
Chishiya and Kuina went to the other side, running out quickly because the King was distracted. You weren’t sure where they went, but you really hoped they would be okay.
“We’ll lure him into the alley so the blimp can’t send him ammo.” Aguni’s voice rung in your ears. You were watching the King intently, trying to spot any weaknesses. “Then we’ll lure him into the drugstore. I’ll sprint for it. Then you guys enter that alley and lure him in.”
"Got it." Usagi confirmed, looking back at you and the others. You nodded at her, thinking through the plan one more time. And if anything went wrong, Chishiya and Kuina would be able to help.
You were ready, you decided. This had to go well, you'd make sure of it.
"Arisu. You fill the store with aerosol fumes."
"Right." He nodded, looking at Aguni as he explained the plan. You watched the man as well, palm clenching around your gun, finger resting terrifyingly on the trigger.
And then you were gone. Aguni had left first and the others had followed. You looked behind you as you ran, trusting your allies to keep you safe as your eyes searched for Kuina and Chishiya. You gulped down whatever was in your throat, which you could be convinced was your heart. Your shins ached as your shoes collided with the tarmac, ducking behind a car as gunshots rang out.
You peeked up above the car and saw the King looking at you guys, making eye contact with you and shooting immediately. You ducked back down, looking to Aguni for instructions. He himself peeked over the gun and fired a few shots at the King to create an opportunity for your team to rush further.
You all sprinted the final leg to the alleyway, taking your positions, hidden. You rushed through the maze of turns, taking your spot in a perpendicular alleyway. You lifted your gun and took a couple deep breaths. When you peeked out, you aimed for his feet. You doubted you'd kill him, but you could at least try to immobilize him. The thunderous cracks rushed to your ears, making your head hurt momentarily.
And then the King was shooting back at you, and you rushed into cover. Another set of gunshots ripped through the air, An. Her shots made the King stumble and gave you a chance to rush at him with your knife. You sprinted as fast as you could at the bald man and rugby tackled him, pulling your knife and trying to stab his leg. He grabbed your arm in a tight grip, making you grimace. Asshole. You pulled up your knee and planted it right in his crotch.
You winced as your knee struck solid metal and you realized he was wearing some type of guard. You cursed under your breath, ducking as he swiped at you. You tripped and fell back, cursing again as you stared down the barrel of his gun. Time seemed to slow down, but you were brought back into reality by the two gunshots that knocked him off balance. You scrambled back up onto your feet and took one last swipe at the King before scrambling off to avoid being shot by An.
"Shit! Watch where you're shooting, if I die because of you, it's on your hands!" You called as the King turned and took shots at An.
"I'm not gonna hit you!" She called back, clearly confident in her shooting skills. You just didn't want to die, was that so much to ask?
You hid behind the a corner that obscured you from the King's sight in the alleyway, watching as Heiya climbs on the roof of a car and preps an arrow. You sprint over to behind the car, hearing the arrow release and plant itself into the glass of the vending machine right where the King's head would've been had he not moved. God, this entire thing would be so much easier if the King didn't fucking move.
Suddenly, the gunshots were redirected at you and Heiya, and she jumped down off the car right in front of you, beckoning for you to follow her. The gunshots sounded different, though. They weren't quick. He'd ran out of ammo. That was good. That was really good.
And everything goes quiet. You can hear your breathing, you can feel the sweat dripping down your brow, but gunshots no longer ring out as you run with Heiya into new positions. Eventually, there's a restaurant to your left and you run into it, hiding behind a table. You can finally catch your breath. You close your eyes, clammy palms clinging onto the gun as if it's the only chance you've got. It is.
You watch as the King slowly walks past the shop you're in, gun drawn. You raise your own gun, noticing his bulletproof vest missing. You track him with the gun, but you don't shoot. It's finally calm.
And suddenly, gunshots ring out again. It's loud again, and you rush out of the restaurant, taking rogue shots at the King as he crouched behind the corner the Aguni is watching. He turns his gun back to you and takes a couple shots but luckily, none of them hit as you rush back into the store.
There's more shooting, fast shooting. You peek out of the restaurant again, trying to see what's happening. The King is no longer cowering behind a corner, he's shooting aggressively at the spot Aguni used to stand. And then you see an opportunity, and you take it. There's a food cart right next to you, and the doors on that side of the shop aren't fully closed. You can see the King walking down the alley.
You grab a hold of the food cart and sprint, yelling as you push past the wooden doors in an attempt to barrel into him. You don't crash into him as you were hoping, but you do get him on the ground. A vending machine crashes to the ground beside you but he rolls out of the way. Usagi is jumping from AC unit to AC unit, knocking them all down as you take shots at him with your pistol. But all good things must come to an end and your pistol stops shooting. You rush back into the restaurant and reload your gun, grabbing a magazine from your back pocket and filling the empty slot.
You hear gunshots outside the shop and peek your head out, seeing Aguni firing wildly at the King. He rolls out of the way and out of sight, and you spy Aguni rushing out of his corner to run at him. They grapple a bit before you peek out, finished reloading your gun, and fire some shots at the King. Your hands clench nervously at the idea of shooting Aguni.
Your move is mimicked around, other shots firing before Heiya fires her bow at point blank at the King. You sigh, ducking back behind the corner. Finally, it must be over. There's no way the King could dodge a shot like that. Then, you hear more gunshots and peak out back from behind the corner to see that the King is still standing. You rush over to the other side of the street, ducking next to An behind the fallen vending machine as the King shoots wildly at you, An, and Heiya.
You notice another alleyway on your right and lunge over the vending machine trying to get to it. More shots fire, one grazing your arm and making you yelp. Once you're under cover, you inspect your would, using your opposite sleeve to absorb the spilled blood. You grimace as the sting spreads painfully through your arm at the pressure.
From the main alley, you hear Aguni grunting and you panic, peaking out to see the King slamming his head violently into the wall. Suddenly, so quickly you could hardly see what exactly happened, the King rolled over, holding tight onto Aguni's machine gun and kicking him. Aguni went flying, landing in a pile of cardboard boxes and you could almost feel the pain of whatever just happened.
You ducked back behind the corner, checking how much ammo your gun had. It still had a few shots, so you peeked out again and send a couple bullets flying at the King (who was reloading the machine gun he'd grabbed from Aguni) before ducking back behind the corner. Suddenly, you heard Usagi shout and peeked out again, seeing her flying toward the King.
They wrestled for a bit before he threw her near the alley where you were hiding. You peaked out reaching your hand out to grab her and pull her behind cover with you when Heiya leapt off the vending machine with her knife pulled and tried to get a stab at the King. You scowled as he sent her flying as well.
You gripped the cold metal of your gun with unusually steady hands and took a few more shots at the King before you ducked back behind your cover to reload it. An was shooting at the same time as you and one of her shots landed, planting itself right into the King's chest.
You beckoned for An to join you and Usagi in the alleyway as Heiya grappled with the King over Aguni's machine gun. Suddenly, An murmured, "Shit," and you peeked out to see the King taking aim at Aguni.
You yelled right as Heiya leapt up and tried to redirect the barrel of Aguni's gun, only able to aim it down. Aim it right into her stomach. You turned back behind the corner as you heard gunshots and tried your hardest not to belch. You heard Heiya's grunting as she fell to the ground. The machine gun, which you assumed was empty, was discarded onto the ground with a hollow clatter.
An leapt out from behind your corner and took a few shots at him. None of them hit home. He whipped around, grabbing his pistol from its holster and shot her twice. You could feel your heartbeat in your ears as tears gathered in your eyes and you pressed one hand against your mouth to muffle your cries.
"An!" Usagi cried. Heiya's whimpers rang through your ears. Everything felt so loud and you just wanted to crumple into a ball and give up. You cursed yourself, and everyone else, and whatever sadistic monster put you and your friends here. You cursed them all as tears spilled down your newly blood-splattered face.
Aguni let out a scream comparable to a battle cry, scraping the stones on the pavement as he got up. You could hear a gunshot and a collision, but you didn't peak out from behind the corner. You wiped desperately at your wetted eyes with the back of your hand, trying to clear your vision to get a good shot. You could end this. In the background, you could hear Aguni's grunts as he repeatedly smashed his fist into the King's face.
You peaked out of the corner you hid behind, holding your gun in sweaty, trembling hands. Your eyes kept welling with tears that no matter how many times you wiped them would never leave. You tried to aim through your blurry vision, pulling on the trigger and stumbling back from the recoil.
You cried out in frustration as the bullet planted itself into the wall next to the King, more tears gathering in your eyes. As you looked onwards to Aguni beating the King into the concrete wall, though, he crumpled down and Aguni pulled out his pistol.
The barrel of the gun pressed into the King's temple, and, for you, time seemed to slow down. Your mouth opened, the start of a cry escaping your lips as Aguni pulled the trigger.
Just in time, though, the King ducked further down and out of the way, using one of his hands to unload the gun. You opened fire frantically as Aguni resumed punching him. The bullets all went awry, the closest shots only grazing Aguni or planting themselves in the wall.
It took a couple of clicks for you to register that your gun was all out of bullets, and you ducked behind cover. Tears streamed like rivers down your face and blood still flowed from the graze on your arm. You heard a sickening combo of grunting and thumping and crashing as Aguni beat the King and you once again had to fight not to heave.
When you once again peeked out of the alley, the King was landed in a pile of trash cans with Aguni standing over him ever so menacingly. He was grabbing his leg, and, before you knew it, launching him into the concrete wall on the other side of the alley. A gunshot rang out, echoing infinitely in your head and you ducked back behind the corner. You frantically searched through all your pockets, but you were all out of ammo. Bile rose up your throat and everything seemed to ache. Your head hurt and your face felt numb from all the tears streaming over it.
You shut your eyes tightly and quickly snatched the gun clenched in An's motionless hand. Three bullets. You had to end this. You had hardly heard all the thumping and grunting over your tears and the pounding of your heartbeat in your head. When you peeked out from behind the corner once again, they were both crawling on the ground.
The King clambered on top of Aguni and started punching him in the head, over and over and over and over again. You felt bile try to rise up your throat again. You tried to hold your hands steady but the shaking kept throwing your aim off. On top of the tears, you wouldn't even be able to shoot someone from point blank range.
The King wrapped his arm around Aguni's neck in a chokehold and you started firing uselessly, all of the bullets missing by miles. You kept desperately trying to pull the trigger but all it awarded you was a quiet click and continuing to see Aguni's pained face as he was choked to death.
Having enough, you threw the empty gun to the side and leapt at the King, tumbling a couple times before ending up on top of him. You tried punching him frantically, screams tearing your throat with each strike. More tears of frustration just welled in your eyes as he used his arm to block your punches.
With his other arm, he started redirecting your punches. One of your fists flew into the ground and you grimaced. He used the leverage of your arm to flip you over, head banging painfully against the ground.
You struggled as he reached back and unsheathed a knife. The next thing you knew, searing pain was burning through your body as he pulled the dagger out of your side. You screamed, tears flowing from your eyes like an overfilled dam had suddenly broken. Hot fire escaped from your throat as a scream, but no matter the pain in your throat the pain in your side was infinitely worse.
He plunged the dagger in again and your screams only intensified. You squeezed your eyes shut and just wished you could write all this off as a bad dream. You were going to die, and there was nothing you could do about it. You were going to die on the dirty, hard ground. You were going to be stabbed to death trying to do something that was basically impossible anyways.
You had tried so hard. Why did it have to end up like this? You had put all of your strength, all of your mind into this plan. This was your once chance and you had fucked it up.
The knife plunged into you again and again and again and it felt like it would never stop. Your throat felt raw from all the screaming. You could feel hot blood flowing from out of your side. You tried so desperately to push the King off of you but he was just too strong and you were too weak. It was fooling of you to ever believe you were strong enough to survive this sadistic game. You should've given up at the start.
Usagi lunged at the King and pried him off of you, screaming terribly. All you could feel was pain. You wondered if that was all you ever knew. The throbbing seemed to spread all around your body and your groans felt never ending. You could feel something pulling you. Sleep. You shut your eyes and let the darkness take you. Now the only thing you could feel was your chest rising and falling shallowly.
Chishiya's POV
"Kuina, it's a massacre. We need to go help them. They're all going to die." Chishiya insisted, voice desperate and tense with urgency.
"If you go, you'll just die to." Kuina consoled quietly, looking down at the concrete roof of the building they were perched atop.
"Kuina, this is the only chance that we have to save them! They're going to die if we don't do anything!"
Kuina shook her head no, a hardened expression on her face as she looked up into the sky. She grabbed Chishiya's hand and started dragging him away from the edge of the roof. They went down the staircase to the bottom of the building. Everything was quiet, the shadow of the metal blimp blocking them from the light as they marched silently through the streets.
There were only a few thoughts spinning around in his head, for once. It felt so empty. He could only think about you, about how you looked so helpless. You couldn't be dead, right? You were strong. Chishiya knew you were strong.
Suddenly, a loud crashing noise came from above, and Kuina and Chishiya both looked up. The blimp was coming crashing down.
Chishiya wasn't going to let you die. He turned on his heel and ran back, determined to save you no matter what.

Chishiya tried everything to get you into bed with him. He tried seducing you, gaslighting you, and of course his manipulation tactics didn't work either.
All you were focused on was trying to fix the phone from last night's game. It was still on, so you thought it would be easier to get into before it powered off.
Every time he'd call your name, you'd brush him off. Mostly because he always used a certain tone of voice you've become far too familiar with when he tries to get what he wants.
All he wanted to do was kneel at your feet to tell you exactly what he wanted. To tell you he just wanted you to hold him, to tell you all he needed was your attention.
But he couldn't. He never has been able to ask for help, or ask for anything without feeling vulnerable for that matter. He was closed off, that's what people knew about him; that he didn't show those types of emotions in fear of being belittled.
Chishiya could feel his eyelids getting heavy and his eyes burning from keeping them open, but he knew no matter how hard he would toss and turn; he wouldn't be able to sleep without you.
It was pathetic, he'd admit that. It was a loop he found himself getting stuck into, and found there was no way out of it. He hid it pretty well, though. Through late nights where you'd fall asleep alone and wake up to him beside you. You truly had no idea he struggled so much.
He was so tired. He'd do anything if you'd just stop and sleep already.
And he found his last option, the one thing he dreaded the most.
"Y/n?" Chishiya whispered, his voice husky as he climbed out of bed and walked towards you with slow steps.
"What?" You hummed in response, never peeling your eyes away from the task at hand.
"Please," He spoke underneath his breath in an almost incoherent whisper as he stopped to stand beside the chair you sat in.
"I don't know what you want, Chishiya. No one is keeping you awake." You sighed, watching from the corner of your eye as he stood by your side, rubbing his eyes with his palms.
"You're keeping me awake." He murmured, watching your hands as they played around with the device's motherboard.
"How?" You said in defeat, finally turning your attention to him. You looked up at him with your hands thrown in your lap, clearly waiting for his response.
He let out a huff as he looked around the room; avoiding eye contact. When he finally looked at you, his eyes were soft and glassed over.
His next sentence was incoherent.
"What?"
[inaudible]
"Chishiya. Speak up, please." Your words were soft as you stood up from your seat, placing your hands on his upper arms.
"I can't sleep without you." He finally spoke, his words finally registering in your mind.
When he realized you had finally heard him, he felt like he could say anything. And with his new found confidence he continued to speak.
"Why is it so hard to ask you to touch me?" He breathed, letting his head fall onto your shoulder.
You smiled at his soft demeanour. You knew how hard it must've been for him to admit something so close to himself, especially since it was about you. You've found a new side of Chishiya you haven't seen before.
You brought a hand to comb through his hair as the other scratched up and down his bare back, "I'm sorry, Chishiya. I should've just read your mind." You whispered against his shoulder as you held him close to your body.
Your words were an obvious tease, trying to humor the situation at hand. Which did make Chishiya snicker.
"You should have. You've always been able to." He muttered, wrapping his arms lazily around you.
You smiled warmly as he spoke, pulling away to drag his hand towards the bed. You climbed in with him closely behind you. He waited for you to get comfortable, before he joined you under the covers to tangle his limbs with yours.
"I'm proud of you, Chishiya." Your sultry breath hit his forehead as you mumbled against his skin.
He stared down at the way your bodies fit together, processing your words with a smile he knew you couldn't see.
"Now go to sleep, 'm here." You spoke once more into his skin, kissing his forehead and massaging your fingers into his scalp.
His cold fingers danced around your bare skin, trying to bring himself impossibly closer to you before his body fell limp into a night's sleep.

Second Chances ♡ Shuntaro Chishiya
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Shuntaro Chishiya x GN!Spouse!Reader ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
Tumblr media
Author's Note: UNEDITED! This is a Chishiya POV post. I haven't written anything like it before, so bear with me. Also, I know it's super short. It was a quick little thing I wrote between lectures. I don't own any characters/images.
Genre: Fluff/Angst
Summary: CHISHIYA POV! Chishiya's motivation for making it through the Borderlands was returning to his partner and being the best husband he could possibly be upon coming back.
Word Count: 1362
Warnings: Angst, OOC Chishiya, brief mentions of blood, injury
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
The wedding band was small, and lacked meaning to anyone who would've passed it by on the street. Just a simple ring of silver, scratched in a couple places from years of wear. It always sat in Chishiya's pocket for his fingers to brush over when he needed a reminder of what he fought for. The band became heavier now, as he recalled why he had taken it off.
He slipped it off in anger, a petty response to a fight that had spiraled out of control. While his partner shouted and cried with a voice trembling, begging to be heard, he remained calm. He was always too calm, too cold, using his composure as a weapon. This only infuriated his spouse more, and that's how he liked it. He liked watching them stumble over their words, struggling to claw their way through his defenses. It was not fair to them. He had never been fair to them.
"I can't keep doing this, Chishiya. I can't be the only one trying." They had tears rolling down their cheeks, arms waving emotionally. They were always just too emotional. "This is unbearable." Their voice cracked with pain.
"If you think it's so unbearable, then maybe we should not have done this in the first place." His voice was flat, lacking feeling, as it always was. He regret saying it the moment the words slipped from his lips. Their hurt expression was too much, but he wouldn't dare apologize now. "Don't you think I already have enough on my plate? I don't need this right now."
He slipped his ring off his finger, pinching it between his thumb and index, flashing it to his lover. Why would he do that? He questioned the act almost immediately, but it was too late. They had already turned away, sobbing and slamming the door to their shared bedroom.
They'd been so full of love before, back when they were both young and reckless, defying the world together. Nobody believed they would last. They were simply too different. Teachers, parents, friends: They all advised against the relationship. They were both stupid and stubborn enough to believe love was all they needed. Even Chishiya believed it.
The moment he saw them, their gleaming eyes and electric smile, he was intrigued. Infatuated. Then, he knew their soul. He learned how truly good they were, and he realized there could never be another person so different from him. He loved it. He loved them, truly. That's why they married so young, despite the protests of everyone. Unfortunately, life had a way of wearing things down.
He began to pull away under the weight of his new expectations in his career. Affection became a distraction he couldn't afford. Their open, unconditional love became something he resented rather than cherished. They simply expected too much. He grew distant, believing he would be stronger for it. He hadn't even realized how manipulative he had become until that fight. He had become cruel, like his father. Everything he hoped he would not be.
They didn't speak again, that night. They didn't speak the next morning either. Chishiya was forced to sleep on the couch, which put him in an even worse mood once he woke. There was no breakfast waiting for him, like usual. His spouse was still locked in their bedroom. Chishiya slipped the ring into his pocket, opting to get some fresh air.
The Borderlands gave him plenty of time to think, though he hated it. He hated the quiet moments between games, where his mind wandered back to their face. Their smile. The way it felt when they kissed. When was the last time they kissed? He couldn't even recall. He hated remembering the last look they had ever given him: So hurt, broken, and full of love.
What if they were here too? Playing these deathly games? Risking their life in hopes of finding him? A worse thought bubbled up into his mind: What if they were already dead? It would have been his fault. He left them vulnerable, and unprotected. He was too wrapped up in his own pride to fix what he had broken.
Now, laying bloody, leaned up against a car, Chishiya toyed with the thought of returning home. He told himself they may be better off without him. He fought so hard to make it to the end, only to question himself the most now. Maybe they'd be happier if he didn't come back.
Yet, his hand drifted to his pocket. The smooth ring which nobody knew he had was still there, fortunately. He couldn't let it go. As much as he tried to convince himself he didn't deserve them. The truth was, he wanted to go back. He wanted to fix it, even if he didn't know how.
As the Borderlands dissolved, he was faced with a simple choice: Return or stay. If he went back, he would have to face everything he had done. If he stayed, he would have to endure whatever came next without them.
"I think... I'll decline."
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
The familiar beeping of hospital monitors and fluorescent lights is what Chishiya awoke to. There was peace, and silence, despite the strange man he shared a room with. They weren't there. Minutes passed, and they simply were not there. Chishiya's heart sank, realizing it may have been too late.
Suddenly, the door flung open and they dashed to Chishiya's side, eyes full of tears. Their arms wrapped around him tightly, as if fearing he might disappear. For the first time in a long time, he returned the hug.
"T-This was such a mess!" They began, and Chishiya let them speak. "I-I had no idea where you were! Our apartment is completely wrecked!" That's when Chishiya noticed the bandages his partner was littered in. He was about to ask, but they continued. "You walked right into the worst place you could've possibly been at the time of the strike! You were dead! Then they wouldn't tell me where your room was, and they wouldn't let me visit! I'm sorry! I shouldn't have yelled at you-"
"No, I'm sorry." Chishiya spoke calmly, finally sneaking a word in through his spouse's flurry of panic. His voice sounded weaker, scratchier than he wished it were. "It's okay. I'm alright. Are you alright?" He relaxed into the hug, smelling their comforting scent.
"I got trapped under some rubble, but it was no biggie. You're the one who's heart stopped!" They finally began to pull away from the hug, worried they would hurt Chishiya, but he tugged them back into his arms. He missed this. "I'm so sorry. You never would've left the apartment if it weren't for all my whining. I thought I lost you."
"I'm here. I won't leave you, ever." Chishiya remembered their vows, the ones he recited so eagerly on their wedding day. Even then, his partner was crying. They were always crying. He chuckled. They were so emotional, and he realized how fond of it he was.
Chishiya noticed his ring on the table beside them. Finally, he released his spouse from the hug, reaching to put the jewelry back on. Though it had been less than a day, he felt like it had been off for much longer, and he couldn't bear another second without it. He slipped it back over his finger, flashing a rare smile at his lover.
"I love you." He said for the first time in a long time. He meant it. He was no longer unsure of affection from his partner. It was as though this near-death experience brought him a revelation that he was all too grateful for. "I will prove it to you. I cannot take back much of what has already been said, but I will prove it again."
"Oi, can we tone down the sappy shit?" A gruff voice from behind the curtain hollered. "We get it, you lucky bastard. You've got someone to love you." Chishiya chuckled, his eyes on his partner. His hand intertwined with theirs, squeezing it tightly, like a promise that he wouldn't let go.
"I really am a lucky bastard."

Chishiya not knowing how to cuddle at first then turn into someone who expects cuddles all the time is just *chefs kiss*
(Tiny nsfw mention at the end, otherwise fluff)
It took a little while for Chishiya to get why cuddling on the couch was supposed to be a nice thing. The first time that you told him to spread his legs he just raised an eyebrow and went back to his book, but he misjudged your tenacity and soon found himself sitting with you inbetween his legs, your back against his chest, resting your head on his shoulder. You were still in the way of his book, his arms strained trying to hold it up far enough to be able to read. Not to mention how hard it was to concentrate on both reading and the way your hair tickled his cheek, how sweet you smelled, your calm breathing and quiet giggle at the puppy videos on your phone. Your back was warm against him and whenever you shifted to get more comfortable against him he struggled more and more to keep his composure. He refused to give in. He just wanted to read his damn book.
The second time he did spread his legs - no raised eyebrows but what was supposed to seem like an slightly annoyed sigh. You could see right through him and shuffled your way inbetween his legs with a smile on your face.
Eventually he got more comfortable with it and he started actually enjoy having a warm person leaning on him. The first time that you fell asleep like that, curled up with your head on his chest, he couldn’t help but to feel something fluttering in his stomach. He even pressed his lips in a chaste kiss to your forehead. He was suprised by his own action and shook his head, going back to his book, glad that you were asleep and didn’t witness it (or did you pretend to be asleep and cherished that memory forever? Who knows).
He would start to expect you to sit like that. There was a position that let him keep his arm rested while holding up the book in it, he even had it like that when you weren’t around. A pillow was always there just in case. Most times he didn’t even recognize that you plopped down until you asked him what book he was reading or if he wanted to order something to eat. It became a habit so strong that even when you just walked by him, he would spread his legs, prop his arm up and wait for the by now comforting feeling of you crawling up to lean on him. The first time he caught himself doing that he just sat there and stared at his legs, wondering how he fell this deep into to this trap called cuddling. The second time it happend, you sat down next to him instead, skimming through something on your phone and not minding him until you saw him sit and look at you, his arm floating in the air and a look of pure confusion on his face. He had become a puppy and, to his disapproval, his reward was your company. When did he become so soft? He didn’t know if he liked it anymore (he did).
If he was in a mood he would start kissing your neck. Small pecks that made your breath hitch. Whenever you looked back and scolded him for disturbing you he acted innocent - there was nothing more to it than a kiss, don’t get the wrong idea. You would try to get revenge, making sure to wiggle your ass just a little more whenever you moved, running your fingers up his thigh, grinding against him pretending to be uncomfortable. But it had no effect, he was the king of indifference and self control. Until he fucked you senseless later on, making you grind against him just like you did on that couch.

Lost and Found
Pairing : Chishiya Shuntarō x gn!reader, post-Borderland
- AIB season 2 spoilers -
Just fluff and cuddles. In bed. Thats it thats the plot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  I’m not even gonna pretend theres anything more to it than that.
♡ ♢ ♤ ♧  ♡ ♢ ♤ ♧  ♡ ♢ ♤ ♧  ♡ ♢ ♤ ♧  ♡ ♢ ♤ ♧  ♡ ♢ ♤ ♧
Tumblr media
Lying awake beside you, Chishiya is listening to you breathe, analyzing your heart rate. In, out... steady and calm. He could almost count the exact number of beats per minute, but he’s too busy thinking about how lucky he is to have you beside him to care about precision. He finds infinite comfort in the repeated rise and fall of your chest. It proves to him that you are alive, safe and here, right next to him.
You are indeed. And you feel utterly and completely content, in bed, curled up against him. There’s nowhere else in the world you’d rather be.
You lift one hand from where it has been resting on his shoulder and run it through his messy blond hair, sending a shiver of pleasure down his spine. He looks tousled and sleepy and soft, eyes bright and hair wild, and all around adorable in the faint light that’s falling through the curtains of your bedroom. You continue running your fingers through his hair and down his neck as he lets out a long sigh of joy and relief, like all the tensions in his body were released, all at once.
“You’re secretly a cat, aren’t you?” You chuckle softly next to his ear. “I’m just waiting for you to start purring!”
Chishiya grins and makes a noise that he wanted disdainful, but comes out as a low rumble, not that far from a purr actually. You laugh. Not because you’re mocking him but because you’re happy. You both had been through so much. The meteorite took pieces from the both of you. Borderland did too, and you thought you’d never be whole. But you made it through. In each other’s arms, you found those pieces again. Now you’ve got him, and he’s got you. The past does not matter.
Chishiya’s arms tighten around you and he shifts slightly to kiss the top of your head, then your forehead, then your top lip, your bottom lip and both at once. His kisses are sometimes somber and serious, but mostly they’re playful, and delighted - and they’re all the time peaceful, uncomplicated, and calm. His kisses are all you need. He had kissed you before, innumerable times and in innumerable ways, but still, you’ll never get enough of him. He breaks off and looks at you with with unhurried, adoring black eyes and a sleepy smile. You smile back and you both relish in this quiet moment together. You love him so much it’s almost pathetic. You yearn for him constantly. All of him. His smug smile, his soft laugh, the sharpness of his mind, his bewitching dark eyes, his messy hair in the morning, his comforting warmth at night. Pathetic. You’ll never tell him that.
(he already knows)
It’s strangely easy for you to be tired in his arms. Maybe because he makes you feel so safe. You close your eyes and roll onto your side to face away from him while you slowly drift into sleep. Chishiya keeps his arms around you and presses his body against your back, tangling your legs together and pulling you tighter against him. As he presses one last sleepy kiss on the top of your head, you wonder if this really is true happiness. You decide that if it’s not, it must be the closest you’ve ever been to it.

Reader x sunato banda
Maybe where the reader was also a murderer in the real world and when he/she gets to the frontier he/she meets sunato who he/she gets along really well with and they're like a powerful couple of psychopaths and they play this prisoner game together (forgot the name).
Sorry if there are any mistakes, I used google translate :/
You don't have to do this if you don't want to :)
Tumblr media
Sunato Banda x gn reader
I found it very interesting to write this, just know that I do not condone the behavior of the characters, this is just fiction. I hope you enjoy it!
TW: typical violence, death... let me know if there's anything else
You ravished in it, the death and despair of the borderlands. In the old world you could barely contain your rage, your true self. But here you could just do whatever you wanted, it was heaven.
It was just another regular game, even though the levels had increased, there was nothing you couldn’t handle. You were one of the firsts to arrive and waited in the central guardroom, analysing everyone, enjoying their fear. The person that caught your eye was the last one to arrive. "Difficulty, Jack of Hearts." You smirked, heart games were the ones you enjoyed the most. So much chaos, so much killing. The voice explained the rules but you couldn’t keep your eyes off the mysterious guy, he had a dark aura surrounding him and it pulled you in. The game started, most joined together in groups but you waited a bit longer to observe the intriguing stranger. The second the guy in the grey sweater came up to him you became suspicious, there might have been a bit of jealousy too.
“Let’s be friends” You quirked your eyebrow at that and knew you would have to get rid of grey sweater somehow. Joining the biggest group was to smartest thing to do and your only option since there wasn’t really anyone to trust. The first round was over and nobody got eliminated, a pity. Things got a bit more interesting when a hot-tempered guy threw his ‘buddy’ on the ground. Banda, you read his name on the board, knelt down besides the smaller man and told him to lie to the bully. You started to like him more and more, you just hoped he wasn’t the Jack of Hearts so you would have a chance to survive this game together.
More rounds passed and more people died. People were freaking out and lying to eachother, you on the other hand were enjoying it. You could even snack while watching the mayhem. You felt that Banda was enjoying it too. You were now certain Matsushita was the Jack of Hearts. He was following around Banda like a lapdog and it was pissing you off, a shame you weren’t allowed to kill.
You wanted to get to know Banda but Matsushita barely left his side, the only interaction you had was staring, intense staring. There were only five other people left and you felt the ending of the game approach. You finally took your shot and followed Banda into the bathroom.  “You’ve been staring at me, if I didn’t know better I would think you were the Jack of Hearts.” You chuckled, taking a step closer to him. “But you do know better, we both do. That’s why we’re still alive.” He smiled knowingly. “Why are you participating in the games in this land? Until now, I’ve never been in a land as beautiful as this one.” You were surprised by his sudden question but answered surely “This land strips us down to our true forms, hunters, and prey. Unlike the old world where hunters like us would get punished for just being what nature wants us to be.” “I think you and I might be very similar.” He whispered while his hand caressed your cheek and neck. “I”m glad we found in each other an equal, trustworthy partner, perfect for this game.” He nodded “Let’s make this world ours.” You smirked “First, we’ll have to find out more about it. Why don’t we nicely ask Matsushita?”
The final reveal. Only Banda, Chishiya, Matsushita, and you were left. Fear crept into his eyes when he realized what you wanted. You threw the Jack into his cell, and Banda took out his tools. “What are you going to do to me?!” Matsushita panicked. “One doesn’t often get the chance to have a nice long conversation with a citizen.” You answered, “You’ll tell us everything you know about this land.” Banda started with a razor and every move he made turned you on more, you helped when he handed you a knife, and together you got to know more about your soon-to-be kingdom. Sadly your intel offed himself after just an hour. You could have watched Banda’s art for hours more but you knew you would see more in the future.
The game ended and you won. High on victory and in ecstasy, you pulled him in for a kiss. He returned it with the same force, your tongue slipped passed his lips and you had to pull back to breathe. Foreheads touching, hands enlocked “Let’s take over this world, together.” “Together.”

Chishiya x reader (Hospital!AU) [gn!reader] part 1
Tumblr media
(TW!: mentions of needles and IV's, discrimination against crocs)
/ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\/ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\/ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\/ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\/ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\/ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\/ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\
Chishiya was is an extra bad mood today. They were short staffed on tonight's night shift so it was up to him to look after the undergrads despite being a mere post-grad student.
"You're doing it wrong" you heard a familiar voice from behind you. It made you smile. Med-school was hard. Night-shifts,the long hours and stress can easily get to a person but a particular snarky doctor makes your day slightly more durable "It's my first day"
Was it just you or did your comment get an almost smile out of him?
"Your first day? last time I checked it's been 'your first day' for the past two months" he spoke in a condescending tone, picking up a new needle. "You're getting the ID and IV mixed up. With an IV you have to insert it at a 10-30° angle. Intradermal (ID) is the ones you do at a 10-15° angle"
You swear you felt a jolt of electricity when he guided your hand at a correct angle to insert the syringe into the practice dummy.
"It's not that hard. I memorised the injection angles on my first week here" his condescending comment brought you out of your own head.
"Okay grandpa"
Chishiya raised an eyebrow. Just the slightest bit amused by your snarky remark. "Grandpa? I'm not that old"
"Oh really?"
"Really. I'm 25" he instinctively shoved his hands in the side pockets of his lab coat, responding in an almost defensive way
Your reaction kind of bruised his ego. Why did you look so surprised? did he really look older than he was?
"Why's that so surprising?"
His question only got a shrug out of you "Well it's not that you look old it's just well..." you glanced at his dark blue crocs. "You dress like a person in their mid 30's"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Your comment was stuck in Chishiya's head all day. It was 6am. He'd just finished his nightshift and he was honestly a bit frustrated.
He didn't care what anyone thought. Especially you. But that didn't stop him from thinking about it. Constantly. It's like you just humbled this man more than anyone ever has.
And that's why...
"Chiya. Hey! What's wrong? you never call me" Kuina, his best friend and luckily for him a major in fashion.
The man didn't bother answering her question. "I need your advice"
"Advice on what?"
"I'm buying new shoes this weekend. I guess I could...use your opinion"

Tumblr media
most of the world was asleep. the only light shining outside was from the moon, the stars, and some streets. slight, but there nevertheless.
in your case however, your desk and laptop screen also shining light. an unnatural and annoying light that was beginning to give you a headache.
it was about two-fifty in the morning — close to three. you and chishiya, who you’d consider a good friend in uni, were studying for your upcoming mid-term since the both of you were pre-med students.
it’s safe to say, you were stressed out. the topic you’d been learning looking like a completely different language the more you looked and attempted to learn it.
you huffed frustratingly, beginning to write in your notebook harshly and quickly. chishiya turned his attention from the textbook in front of him to you as you were making a lot of noises suggesting your stress.
“everything alright?”
at this point, chishiya was already prepared and confident for the exam. he stood by you however, because it seemed like you needed the company.
and the help.
you continued your harsh writing. “yeah, I’m fine.”
he shrugged, continuing back to his book and left you to your studying. or stabbing of your poor notebook.
your thoughts were everywhere else except where they really needed to be, going a million hours at once. the stress of this exam, intrusive thoughts of just quitting starting to enter your brain, and a random song in the background, banging in your head at once. you were tired.
maybe this is why i’m not processing all this information, you thought.
at that point, you about had it.
you turned off your desk light while standing up from your chair suddenly and made your way out of your room, chishiya’s eyebrows raising at your actions. he sighed, then followed you out.
when he made it to where you were, he saw you leaning against your kitchen counter with your head down in front of your coffee machine. the sound of it in the midst of pouring your third cup for the night, echoing throughout the silent apartment walls.
he stood there for a moment, not knowing what to do. hell, he didn’t know how to comfort anyone. weirdly, he wanted to comfort you.
you were always so bubbly — shy and introverted but outgoing when he got to know you. you cared a lot. probably too much for chishiya’s liking. you two were polar opposites but he didn’t mind. maybe, the universe put you two together for this sole reason.
“y/n?”
you picked up your head and stood up regularly, turning your body towards him. you didn’t say anything. you just looked at him blankly.
“too much coffee isn’t good for you.” he crossed his arms, leaning against the wall behind him and continued. “you should know that, you’re a med student.”
it sounded much harsher than what he had originally in his mind. but that was chishiya’s way of showing that he…cared?
you huffed. “god, chishiya. i don’t need your input. i just need to pass this goddamn exam and coffee is going to help. you’re already going to pass so i don’t know why you care.”
he just stared at you as you turned back around and poured your coffee into your hello kitty mug, reminding him of the time you FaceTimed him when you got the mug. you were so excited and happy over something that seemed so silly.
but that’s just how you were. though, he always felt like there was a part of you that he had not seen just yet. he read people scarily well and…he would know.
you breezed passed him and back into your room, cranking your music up. the aroma of your scent lingering until he followed you back in.
you were sitting on your window sill filled with all your plushies and other pillows with your textbook on your lap, flipping through the pages and sipping your coffee.
he sat across from you and looked out the view from your window. you didn’t look up from your book once.
one thing he loved about coming over to yours was the view you had. the beautiful sight of the city that the moonlight was shining upon. your music in the background making the view ethereal. it was peaceful. like a pause from the chaotic world.
his thoughts were interrupted by you flipping the page of your textbook harshly. taking yet another sip of your coffee while your eyes scanned the information.
he turned to you and kept his gaze there. despite the frustration written all over your face, you were shining against the moonlight. your soft features illuminating against it, like the moon was focusing on only you in that moment.
examining your face more, he saw tears starting to pool up in your eyes. the facade you were trying so hard to put up, finally fading away.
he paused. his attempt on comforting you earlier had failed miserably. now you were crying?
he shifted in his seat and looked back out the window, pretending not to notice. he felt uncomfortable. he didn’t know what to do. he was used to keeping his emotions inside at all times. he assumed the same for you. but now, it seems those bottled up emotions were pouring out of you and even though you didn’t want it, you let it.
he heard you sniffle, his eyes returning back to your face. you quickly wiped your tears and closed your textbook, throwing it on the ground next to you whilst placing your coffee gently atop of it.
you pulled your knees to your chest and wrapped your arms around them, looking out the window to the view. tears were still spilling out and now you weren’t wiping them away. you were letting your tears fall into the night. but despite your built up emotions spilling out, your face remained still and blank. your tears just grazing on top of it.
“i have a feeling this is more then the mid-term that’s on your mind,” chishiya said, breaking the silence.
you didn’t say anything for a moment, your eyes still on the view of the quiet night. you let his words sit with you because he was right. and you hated how well he could read people — especially you.
you let out a breath before speaking. “it’s not like you would care.”
you knew chishiya wasn’t the type of person to express his feelings. so why would he listen to you express yours? regardless, he surprised you with his next choice of words. “try me.”
those words had you finally looking away from the view and to him, his gaze looking at you intently. inviting you, daring you to give him a chance.
“it’s a lot,” you started, gaze looking back out the window. you let out a soft chuckle. “i’m a mess.”
you felt him scoot closer to you, his eyes burning through you to get something, anything out of you. you felt that this was his way of letting you know that he was here to listen — something you weren’t used to.
finally, you let the words fall out of your mouth.
“i don’t want to be a fucking doctor.”
the words that were engraved in your brain since the minute you started uni was finally out into the night. for only you and chishiya to hear. and now, you felt somewhat free.
you looked back at him, his eyebrows having a slight furrow to them, expressing to continue your thought. “this is not my dream. to be honest, i’m really doing this for my mother.” you spoke your next sentence quieter, practically whispering. “because she wasn’t able to because of me.”
“what do you mean?”
you bit the inside of your cheek before continuing. “she was my age when she met my dad, so close to getting into her dream university because she took a gap year.”
he scanned your face, tears still spilling but your face still remaining blank.
“she was in love with him. and well, long story short, she got pregnant with me and couldn’t follow her dreams of becoming a doctor. so that’s why i’m doing what i’m doing. but it’s not what i want.”
he pursed his lips. “you shouldn’t let her be the reason to not enjoy your life.”
“but i love her. she’s been through hell for me. and i feel like it’s my fault she never got to follow her dream.”
“it’s not though.”
“but it’s the least i could do.”
he took his eyes off of you, returning his eyes to the window. he remained quiet for a moment which only built your nerves more. maybe, you shouldn’t have said anything? maybe you should of just kept on pretending. interrupting your thoughts, he spoke. “can i tell you something?”
you hummed in response, starting to feel more at ease.
“i don’t want to be a doctor either.”
chishiya didn’t know why he decided to tell you something that was so vulnerable to him. he spent years trying to dig it so deep in his brain that he would eventually forget it. but after admitting those words aloud, he realized he was simply putting up a facade. just like you.
“for similar reasons as you. except, my father never really was there for me nor showed he cared,” he shrugged.
he guessed that telling you this unexpectedly was because he felt you. and weirdly, he felt bad for you. you cared so much that you’re doing something that doesn’t make you happy. you didn’t deserve that.
“wow,” you replied. “i didn’t know that. i’m sorry.”
he looked at you, seeing your blank expression turn into concern. you really did care a lot about others. he was surprisingly glad he was one of them. at the same time however, he didn’t deserve someone like you to care for someone like him. “don’t be. i’m fine.”
his blunt expression grew more concern for you. you weren’t sure how he would respond if you kept prodding. but you did so nevertheless. “are you sure?”
he sighed. he wasn’t sure how to answer this. no one had ever asked. “i’m doing what i can.”
you gave him a slight smile. “i think we all are. sometimes, that’s the best we could do.”
he smirked back, looking at the view once more causing you to do the same. no matter what, you two always returned your eyes to it. you both never seemed to get tired of the sight.
“what is your dream?” he asked.
you smiled, despite all the emotions you were truly feeling. no one had ever asked you that before. no one ever cared to ask. “i want to be a writer.”
“really?”
“yeah. it’s like my escape,” you leaned a bit closer to the window before continuing. “no one has ever really listened to me or know the real me. they never really cared to. but writing — it’s a way i get to express the real me. and the ideas in my head.”
he looked over at you once more. your eyes were glistening with passion. something he never saw from you. it made him smile a bit. he silently hoped that you would be able to follow your dream. it seemed like something you truly adored.
“what about you?” you asked, meeting his gaze.
he snickered. “never really thought about that.”
you simply nodded.
“maybe travel the world. there’s so many places i haven’t seen yet. i would like to see all of them if i could.”
you gasped suddenly, causing chishiya to jump from your abrupt action. “i have an idea!”
he raised his eyebrows.
“when we graduate, we should take a trip! we could go anywhere you’d like.”
“with what money?”
“we’ll save up. if not, we’ll wing it.”
he chuckled at your comment. smirking, he nodded an agreement. “sounds like a plan.”
you smiled back at him. “any particular place you have in mind?”
he thought for a moment before answering. “Switzerland. i don’t know, that place looks unreal from what i’ve seen in photos. it’s definitely on my bucket list.”
“then Switzerland is where we’ll go.”
he smiled at you. a genuine smile. it was small. so small that any other person wouldn’t have realized it. but you — you noticed.
“you know,” you started, turning your attention back to the night. “nighttime has always been my favorite.”
he tilted his head, urging for you to carry on.
“not only is the world quiet from all the chaos, but you see people’s authentic selves. during the day, you put up this mask so people don’t see the real you. cause you’re scared that if they see the real you, they’ll run off. and the world is so loud that sometimes you wish you could just take a pause from all of it. nighttime, is like that pause. with the world quiet and the moonlight shining on the world lightly, its peaceful and inviting. that’s when people take off that mask of theirs and are comfortable with their vulnerable and real selves. and whoever you’re with in that moment to share your vulnerability with, its true and authentic. not something you put up to protect yourself.”
after a moment, you looked over at him, blood rushing to your cheeks. you said a lot and felt embarrassed. but he just looked at you keenly.
“i can see you as a writer.”
you furrowed your brows, confused at his response.
“your words are beautiful.”
your eyes widened, a slight sparkle to them. his words hit you hard. the kind of hit that felt like every negative emotion in you had disappeared. the kind that made your authentic self comfortable with him. the kind that felt like it was only you two in the world.
he simply just looked away. he honestly didn’t know what to say nor do next. but he was content. cause his words were truthful. you were a beautiful person all around. and he wanted to be sure that you knew that. even though the feelings he was feeling were foreign and uncomfortable, your words were right. the nighttime and you were making the chaos in his mind bearable.
you both sat in comfortable silence with the soft music in the background. the moon seemed like it had shined brighter, now illuminating and focusing on the both of you. making you two feel safe with each other.
after the blissful moment, you glanced at the clock on your nightstand. three-thirty.
chishiya followed your eyes and turned to also see the time.
“shit,” he muttered. “i better get going.”
“yeah,” you replied, a little saddened that he was leaving.
he got up from your window sill and began to gather his things. you just watched, bringing your knees closer to you as you rested your head against them.
once he was done, he threw his backpack over his shoulder and walked towards your door. but before he opened it, he paused and looked at you. really looked at you.
“i know i don’t say this enough or show it but, i really do care for you.”
you lifted your head up, mouth slightly agape at his words. he…cared for you? he cared for you.
you smiled at his words while he slightly grinned back.
“see you tomorrow, y/n/n.”
and then, he walked out the door into the peaceful night. leaving you breathless, filled with old and new emotions but most importantly, leaving you free.
he saw the real you. he listened to you. and he cares about you.
and while you don’t know where this is going or where it will go, you do know you care for him too. more than you ever had for anyone.

Not as useless as I seem
Tumblr media
Fandom: Alice in Borderland
Pairing: (platonic) Chishiya x adhd!reader, (platonic) Kuina x adhd!reader
Characters: Shuntaro Chishiya, Hikari Kuina
Used Pronouns: They/Them
Warnings: gn!reader, fluff, platonic
A/N: No spoilers of the series, also it’s my first time writing something like this. The reader has or had a grandmother with a weird nose. Don’t ask me why.
P.S.: If you have advice on how to represent ADHD better, feel free to tell me!
Tumblr media
Summary: It’s said you are a straight-up good-for-nothing and useless during games. But after observing you for a while, Chishiya finds some interesting things about you. You are finally paired together for a game along with Kuina and some others and Chishiya is ready to prove the rumors wrong.
Word Count: 1.7k
Tumblr media
you arrived at the beach shortly after Chishiya and Kuina did
you were known for not doing anything but wandering around during games, not paying attention when someone’s talking and basically just leeching off others to win the game
you hadn’t had a game with either Chishiya or Kuina up until now, but they noticed you a long time ago
every time your team arrived at the beach after a game, the most charismatic ones in the group were the centre of attention, claiming they were the reason you all were save and sound now
Chishiya was observing the group
his eyes fell to you and he caught you rolling your eyes with a scoff while you sipped off your glass
it was nothing new for some people to exaggerate things a bit, he thought.
but after that he found himself observing you more often and in doing so he found some interesting things about you
for example, you seemed to get distracted easily when engaging with other people, diverting from the topic and coming up with a completely different topic
“I still can’t believe they are all dead now when hours ago we were drinking and laughing together”, one of the girls said, the mood of the group dropping once again. “It’s so sad we can’t even mourn them properly“ “The only thing we can do now is to remember their sacrifice for us”, and the group went quiet. “I once had a butterfly friend named Victoria.”, you were sitting there, enjoying your fruity drink. The group looked at you dumb-founded until a middle-aged man spoke up, “does their death mean nothing to you?”, to what a girl chimed in, “how heartless can you be?”. You just shrugged, taking their comments light-heartedly, “Well you were talking about remembering people, which reminded me of red poppies. You know, the flowers that symbolise remembrance and all that. And then I thought of the garden at my grandmother’s house which was full of red poppies because her father had died during a war. And once, when I was visiting my grandma, I saw a beautiful monarch butterfly flying above the poppies and I named her Victoria.” The group stared at you silently. You sipped on your drink happily. Somewhere further away sat Chishiya with a grin on his face.
you had the tendency to wander off when you got uninterested in the conversation or something else had caught your attention
you seemed to pay attention to details no one else had noticed or cared about before, like the fact that one of the hanging lights in the room had some screws loose, which you noticed while looking at the lights and ignoring Aguni’s threat speech directed to the newcomers
some time after you pointed this out to the group (who mostly wasn’t paying attention or just ignored the warning) the light fell to the ground
Chishiya also noticed how you seemed to talk faster when something excited you, and how you swallowed words or even whole sentences by doing so:
Chishiya and Kuina were enjoying their drinks at the bar when suddenly Kuina diverted Chishiyas attention to you. You stood far away with your arms folded, surrounded by some people, them chattering and laughing out loud. The unusual thing was how your gaze seemed to be fixed on the duo now staring back at you. Before Kuina could question your behaviour out loud, your head turned violently back to the group, engaging with the conversation with pure excitement, words running off your mouth like a waterfall. Kuina couldn’t help but chuckle, amused but also confused by your sudden change of mood. Chishiya figured out you had heard something you were interested in in the conversation.
it’s also worth mentioning, that you always seemed to be in a good mood, chattering with people, dancing around on your own, vibing at some tunes in your head and so on
your energy seemed to have no end but at random times where all that energy disappeared out of nowhere and you were sitting in the corner looking like a wet puppy
sometimes he even found you sleeping in weird places like under Ann’s working table
---------------------
Finally, the day came when you, Kuina and Chishiya were partnered up along with some others for a game
you were the first one to take a place in the car, Kuina sitting in between you and Chishiya
Kuina and you soon started to chatter during the drive, Kuina laughing her butt off at your jokes and weird thoughts
Chishiya only listened to them in silence, hiding the grin on his face behind the hood of his jacket
after arriving at the spot, you enter the designated room and a female voice explains the mission, this being to open the exit door of the escape room before the time runs out
You were all standing around, looking around the furnished room. “How are we supposed to exit a room without a door?”, someone had asked. The only way in or out of the room disappeared as soon as everyone stepped out of it. Chishiya quickly took over the leadership role. About what he was talking about? You have no clue, your eyes were fixed on the colourful fish swimming happily in the aquarium, forgetting the people around you. It was only when Kuina snapped with her fingers in front of your face that you came back to reality, a big question mark drawn on your face. “We need a key that fits in the box. There’s also some sort of puzzle on the wall there and we need a code. We have one hour to do this”, she explained to you. You were impressed she took her time to explain whatever they discussed to you. Someone else would have shouted at you to do something. “Yes, ma’am!”, you turned on your heels and started sniffing around the room. The attention was directed to one of the guys who had found a trap door underneath the carpet which needed a bigger key to be unlocked. In the meantime, you approached Chishiya, who was just about to finish a puzzle inside the drawer of a table. He felt your presence rest beside him, so he took the chance to test you. “What do you think?”, he said, putting the last piece in its place. “Fish” He raised an eyebrow and looked at you, then at the fish in the aquarium behind you two. He soon noticed the connection, but you were faster, “4351. That’s the code. The colours on the solved puzzle show the order in which we have to put the numbers-” “-and the amount of fish of the same colour mark the numbers we are searching for, so the code must be” “4351.” A grin spread across both of your faces after finishing the thought process together. You’re eyes met. Whatever had happened between you two was worth repeating. Chishiya broke eye contact first by turning around and sharing their discovery with the team. The lock opened and a minor key was retrieved from the previously locked compartment. Kuina took the key and attempted to open the box. But the lock wouldn't open. Kuina looked up with a frown on her face, “It doesn’t work.” “But there is no other lock that could fit such a small key”, a girl commented. Fifteen minutes were left on the clock and the group was getting desperate. There was nowhere to put the smaller key and they had already inspected every single furniture piece in the room. That’s when Chishiya heard a chuckle. He noticed the grin on your face. “The statue there looks so weird. Like, you see the nose? Reminds me of my grandma.” Chishiya looked in that direction. He was about to disregard the observation when he noticed how the statue’s finger pointed at another statue on the other side of the room, which pointed at another one. The last statue held a shield high above his head and held a knife in its right hand and a cloak fell over his shoulder, falling on the pedestal holding the statue. You seemed to have noticed as well, “There might be something on the heel. You know, Achilles Heel.”, you shrugged. Kuina appeared beside you, “How do you know it’s an Achilles statue?”. “I had this mild obsession with greek mythology when I was younger” Kuina nodded slowly and worded a soundless ‘oh’. Chishiya approached said statue, obeying your directions without a second thought. There it was. A keyhole, this one meant for a smaller key. Just then the female voice announced the last ten minutes left. Chishiya calmly asked Kuina to use the key on the hole. As soon as she did, a small panel on the wall opened and in it lay a wooden, minor key. Kuina took it and tried turning it to one side, having no effect on the trapdoor. She turned it on the other, but the same result. Eight Minutes were left. “This key doesn’t work, search for another” “But we have no other clues!” “Find another puzzle or something” The group grew more anxious and the clock was ticking. You crouched beside the trapdoor and took the key in your hands. “It’s broken,” you mumbled. Chishiya stood behind you, observing your actions in silence. You noticed him and held the key above your head to show him what you meant. The key seemed to be missing something, “What do you think?” Two minutes left. Chishiya grabbed the key, took the two you had used before and laid one on the other, trying to fit them in each other. And there it was. A satisfying click. You went out of the way to let Chishiya open the trapdoor, now finally letting itself be lifted. “Chishiya opened the trapdoor!”, the girl shouted, “Quick, get out!”, one after the other jumped out of the room and before the last minute could end, everyone had escaped the room.
During the trip back your group started praising Chishiya’s intelligence, all cheering happily and looking forward to the celebration that awaited on the beach
Kuina was MAD and was about to complain when you stopped her
“Let them be. At the end what matters is that we made it out, right?”
She could have strangled the life out of you right there and then, but she just accepted it and laid back
Since then you three stuck to each other like glue, them enjoying the lively conversations with you and your bad jokes and you feeling safe and understood with them

Tumblr media
Your hand pounded on the clear glass that separated you and the snacks inside the vending machine. It had completely eaten your money just for the simple snack you've been craving all day not to fall to the bottom.
It obviously hasn't been a good day for you, but this was just the cherry on top.
Waking up in a hospital with hundreds of bruises and one big gash across your torso wasn't exactly your definition of a good time. You don't even remember how it happened.
In fact, you barely even remember what you did that day. You were walking to the mall? Maybe? It was clearly all a blur.
When he approached you, you almost thought you were hallucinating from all the medication the hospital decided to give you for the pain.
He was almost glowing in the hospital light, like he belonged there like some type of ghost whose soul is trapped inside the building.
"Those cookies aren't very good anyways." Were the words his naturally curved mouth spoke.
Something was off about him, you couldn't tell what it was though. Maybe it was his body language; how his eyes couldn't leave your face and studied your every move. Or maybe the way he spoke; so nonchalant but hard to tell where his social skills lied.
"I've been craving them since I woke up. But, obviously now--It doesn't really matter." You were already irritated, it was clear in your voice when you spoke. You weren't exactly in the mood to make friends.
His eyes looked down, which made yours follow along to the yellow bag that rested in his hand. He reached out to you, letting you see the cookies that sat inside.
"You can have one, if you want." He offered, his eyes watching your face once more.
You couldn't exactly read him, and it was clear that it was his persona. A man who wants to be known as an unsolved mystery. A closed box that couldn't be opened by anyone.
But in this Cheshire man's mind, he felt conflicted; confused. He swore he knew you from somewhere, but he wouldn't dare ask. He'd rather find out from his own mind. He always had a thing for puzzles, but this one felt more complicated than anything he's ever experienced.
You sighed, but with a shrug you dipped your hand into the bag to grab a single cookie. You brought it to your mouth with a crunch and your rating of the snack was written all over your face, and at the same time it almost felt familiar.
He had a good eye, or you guess taste for good snacks. You were almost surprised you've never tried it before, you've always seen it in other places.
"It's good, isn't it?" He raised a brow, a small grin showing on his face.
"Mhm, can I have another one?" You responded mid chew.
He couldn't hold back the soft chuckle as he handed the bag to you, watching as you dove straight in with no questions asked.
"I'm Chishiya, by the way." Chishiya finally introduced himself with his hands shoved into his pockets.
"Y/n." You replied, mouth full of cookies.
He nodded at the sound of your name. It tried to click in his mind, and when it did--it felt like he had just been given some stranger's memories.
He knew now, the borderlands and the person he was stuck with--merely because they were almost smarter than he was. For a second he was confused, concerned and almost convinced he was remembering an old dream.
It wouldn't be the first time he mistook a dream for reality, but he knew this time was different. In dreams there were no names or faces, but your face, the person standing in front of him wasn't just a dream. And nor were the memories he continued to remember.
"Do you... know me?" He asked, his tone unsure as if he was asking a foreign question.
You looked at him with a confused stare, looking him up and down and then studying his face--but none of it clicked.
"No, I don't think so." You shook your head, handing him the bag just for there to only be one left inside.
You gave an apologetic smile when he took it back, but somehow he didn't mind. Mostly because he had bigger things to think about.
Like how the person he told he loved doesn't remember him. It was almost funny when he thought about it that way, but it was honestly sad.
But when he thought about it another way, like how he may have a second chance with you. It felt different, like the god whom he never really believed in decided to grant him the good karma he wasn't so sure he deserved.
He couldn't care less though, the only thing he wanted from his experience in the borderlands was a second chance; and now he has it.
"Shouldn't you be resting? Your injuries seem worse than others." Chishiya tried to keep the conversation, although it almost sounded like he was trying to end it.
You shook your head, "Mm-mm. Doctor said to walk around, to stretch my legs." You explained, crossing your arms to shield yourself from the cold breeze of the hospital.
"Want to take a walk then? We can go outside, I know you aren't exactly fond of hospitals." He suggested, crushing the bag in his hand to stuff inside his pocket.
You stopped for a second, furrowing your brows and opening your mouth. "Uh--sure. But, how did you know that?" Your mouth shaped into a smile because it genuinely freaked you out a bit. He made it sound as if he knew you forever.
"Lucky guess." His response was quick as he turned and began walking. You hesitated at first, but soon followed after him as he passed a girl who pushed an older woman in a wheelchair and an older man following a bit behind them.
Maybe now was a good time to admit you felt like you had seen him before as well. But you couldn't think of where, so you convinced yourself you were crazy.
But what wasn't crazy, was thinking you had a chance with this Cheshire man. He made you comfortable in a way you couldn't understand, and weren't exactly sure if you wanted to.

"How could you do that to him! There had to have been another way." Chishiya does not look back at me. He leans against the guard rails of the balcony, observing the ongoing party below. The breeze makes his hair swing lightly across his face. I have never felt more wrong about someone in my life. "He trusted you."
When I first came to the Beach, almost immediately, I befriended Kuina. She was bright, funny, caring, and had so much depth to her. Yet, she was a two-in-one deal with coldhearted Chishiya. At first, I didn't like him much, but over time we grew closer. I confided in him about life before the Borderlands, and he seemed to listen so intently. He told me about plans and strategies. Eventually, he recruited me into his little idea to steal the cards and escape the Beach. I was originally meant to be the one who stole the cards, but when Arisu and Usagi came, the plans changed.
"Trust is a dangerous thing here." Chishiya said plainly. "This place is about survival. You are behaving irrationally." He takes a deep breath. He's so calm, and I hate that about him. Where I once felt so much admiration, I felt fury.
"That would've been me." I say, my voice trembling with hurt. He would've sent me in there, and I could've been killed. His head turned to look back at me. My eyes couldn't help but fill with tears upon seeing his expression. He looked at me with such indifference. Why did it hurt so much? Why did I care so deeply about how he felt towards me.
"Yes. It would have been," It stings. It burns my heart. I wish I could make him understand the feeling betrayal that festered in my chest, but it seemed Chishiya didn't have the capability to feel anything. I hate the plain expression on his face. I just want to punch it. "But it wasn't. Arisu played his role. That's all there is to it." Chishiya's eyes scan my body, and a small smirk plays at his lips. "Unclench your fists. Don't go hurting yourself now. What's done is done."
I had barely even realized how tightly my fists were balled up. My nails dug into my palms, leaving little red marks and scratches. I unclench my hands, not because he told me to. It's because the last shred of faith I had in him crumbles away.
"I really thought you cared." I choke out, ready to turn away and leave Chishiya standing alone on the balcony. Not that he cares about my presence. Did he ever? Did all the things I confided in him about mean nothing? Was it all a ploy? Am I really only one of his pawns too?
"I do." Chishiya says plainly, his arms leaving the railing he leaned on. "I care about surviving. I care about efficienty. I care about success. I care about the things that will matter."
"Do I matter?" I'm not sure why I ask this. It feels like a pointless question. Why do I care so much about his feelings towards me? "Was I really only a pawn to you this whole time? Like Arisu?"
There is a silence that fills the air as I search Chishiya's face for any sign of emotion. I hate his stupid face. I hate the smug look he always has. I hate now neutral his eyes are. I hate him so much in this moment.
"You were." He exhales. I can hear my heart shattering as the words roll off his tongue. Before the tears spill from my eyes, he continues. "There is a reason, Y/N, that you were not the person in that room today." He adds. "It was not entirely necessary for me to change the plan so that Arisu would take your place."
His words hang in the air as I process what he's saying. I'm not sure I entirely understand what he's alluding to. I wish he would stop speaking in such cryptic riddles all the time.
"What are you saying?" I ask, wishing I didn't sound so weak. The words were nothing above a choked whisper. Chishiya sighs, seemingly irritated to have to explain himself further.
"Using Arisu was efficient and convenient, but if I had wanted to, I still would have sent you." So, he didn't want to send me in? Why? There is a flutter in my chest: The revival of my broken heart. The hopeful feeling is nauseating.
"...If you wanted to..." I am conflicted. I'm still hurt from Arisu's betrayal, but a feeling of joy washes over me. "So, you do care about me?"
"Caring is a luxury. I've observed that you let your feelings drive every decision you make. You're reckless. It's a miracle you have survived this long." Ouch. "Yet, I do want you to be happy, Y/N. I do not wish ill on you. Your trust in me is foolish, but it is not something I have wanted to break."
"Why didn't you tell me about the real plan?" So many questions swirl my mind. When did he decide that he didn't want to break my trust? When did he begin to care about my happiness? "Is my trust in you one-sided?"
"You would not have gone through with the plan had you known. This was in your best interest. I am aware of how stubborn you are, so I made the decision for you." He opens his arms, his gaze locked onto me. "Come."
Despite the red flags and warning bells sounding in my mind, I approach him, burying my face into him as I wrap my arms around his torso. I had never seen Chishiya give anyone a hug before, and there was not a chance I would miss this opportunity. His arms pressed around me in a firm, but gentle embrace.
"You are a liability." I hear Chishiya sigh. "A liability I want to keep alive. At least for now." His arms release me, and he pushes me back out of his personal space. "Okay, that's enough."
I still feel the sting of betrayal. I still feel hurt. I still am not sure if I'm nothing more to Chishiya than a pawn. Yet, there are little actions that show his humanity. Small words that lead me to believe that he cares about me. At least to some degree. I will always be wary of his intentions in the future.
Just like that, I was back to Chishiya, like putty in his hands. Ultimately, I don't mind being his liability for as long as he will let me.
