AI Lie Detectors: Breaking Down Trust or Building Better Bonds?
Distinguishing truth from deception has been a persistent problem throughout human history. From ancient methods like trial by ordeal to the modern polygraph test, society has always sought reliable ways to expose dishonesty. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, accurate lie detection is more important than ever. It can prevent fraud, enhance security, and build trust in various sectors, including law enforcement, corporate environments, and personal relationships.
The pursuit of truth now benefits from Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI-powered lie detection systems analyze data using machine learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), facial recognition, and voice stress analysis. They can identify deception patterns more accurately than traditional methods. However, introducing AI raises trust-related questions: Can we depend on machines for accurate lie detection, and how do we balance this technology with human intuition? Understanding these implications is essential as AI continues to shape our world.
Understanding AI Lie Detectors
AI lie detectors use advanced technologies to identify deception by analyzing multiple data points. These systems employ machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), facial recognition, and voice stress analysis. For instance, researchers at the University of Maryland developed a model to spot deceit in courtroom testimonies.
Other projects utilized NLP to analyze speech and text for inconsistencies. Additionally, facial recognition software based on Dr. Paul Ekman’s work examines micro-expressions to detect deception, adding another layer of accuracy. Tools like Nemesysco’s Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) assess voice stress levels and are used by law enforcement worldwide. These combined technologies offer a comprehensive approach to lie detection by analyzing verbal and non-verbal signals.
The move from traditional polygraphs to AI-based systems represents a significant evolution. Polygraphs, which measure physiological responses, are often criticized for inaccuracy. AI lie detectors offer a more comprehensive and data-driven approach, reflecting a shift towards reliable, scientific methods in law enforcement and security.
AI lie detectors are now used in various fields. Law enforcement agencies assess suspect statements, and UK police analyze body camera footage for deception. Companies like HireVue use AI to verify honesty during interviews. Border security agencies in the EU screen travellers, and online platforms like Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter, detect fraudulent activities and misinformation.
The Science Behind AI Lie Detectors
The effectiveness of AI lie detectors relies heavily on the robustness of their underlying technologies and algorithms. One recent notable study demonstrated an AI tool’s superior performance in spotting lies compared to humans. This tool, trained using Google’s AI language model BERT, achieved a 67% accuracy rate in correctly identifying true or false statements. These AI models are trained on diverse datasets, encompassing various languages, cultures, and contexts to minimize biases and improve generalizability. Though as a tool to be widely adopted, this accuracy is low. Continuous learning allows these systems to adapt and refine their accuracy over time.
Researchers are continually enhancing AI lie detectors by integrating more advanced machine learning techniques and expanding training datasets. Studies have shown improvements in detecting micro-expressions and better handling contextual nuances in language. For example, researchers at MIT have developed algorithms that can detect subtle changes in a person’s voice, indicating stress or deception.
Benefits of AI Lie Detectors
AI lie detectors offer several advantages over traditional methods:
AI systems provide a more nuanced analysis by incorporating multiple data sources and advanced algorithms capable of detecting lies with reasonably high accuracy.
These systems are effective in several security settings and across financial institutions. For example, AI lie detectors enhance passenger screening and monitor fraudulent transactions in US airports and financial institutions like HSBC.
In corporate environments, AI lie detectors streamline hiring processes by verifying candidate statements, saving time and ensuring higher recruitment integrity. Companies like Unilever use AI tools for efficient and accurate candidate assessments.
In addition, AI lie detectors can enhance trust in sensitive negotiations, high-stakes communications, and legal proceedings by providing additional assurance and verifying witness statements, increasing reliability and fostering trust.
User Adoption and Skepticism
Despite the potential benefits, user adoption of AI lie detectors is mixed. Studies show that only one-third chose to do so when participants were allowed to use AI lie detection tools, reflecting widespread skepticism. Moreover, during trials of AI lie detection at EU border controls, many travelers expressed discomfort and mistrust, fearing wrongful accusations. This mixed response highlights the ongoing challenge of balancing technological advancement with human concerns about privacy, accuracy, and the role of AI in critical decision-making processes.
Interestingly, those who opt to use AI lie detectors tend to place significant trust in the AI’s predictions. This dichotomy highlights the complex relationship between humans and technology, where trust acts as a barrier and a driver of adoption. In the study at Stanford University, researchers explored multimodal machine learning for deception detection. Some works reported impressive performance, achieving up to 100% accuracy in distinguishing truthful statements from deceptive ones. However, methodological issues raised concerns about result reliability. While polygraph tests remain unreliable, AI deception detection systems show promise. Therefore, balancing technological advancements with ethical considerations remains an ongoing challenge.
Ethical and Social Implications
AI lie detectors raise significant ethical and social implications regarding privacy and consent. The extensive data collection required for these systems prompts concerns about misuse and the moral impact of constant surveillance, as seen in Amazon’s warehouse operations.
False positives are another risk; incorrect accusations can have severe legal and personal consequences. A UK citizen who was falsely accused of shoplifting due to facial recognition errors highlights this danger.
While AI lie detectors offer enhanced accuracy, they should complement, not replace, human judgment. Combining AI insights with human intuition ensures the most reliable outcomes, as seen in criminal investigations where AI supports detectives’ decisions. The growing prevalence of AI lie detectors necessitates clear regulations because current laws often need to be revised.
The Bottom Line
AI lie detectors present a promising advancement in detecting deception. They offer enhanced accuracy and diverse security, hiring, and fact-checking applications. However, their adoption is tempered by ethical concerns, privacy issues, and potential misuse.
Balancing AI’s capabilities with human judgment is essential to realize its benefits responsibly. As AI continues to evolve, clear regulations and a cautious approach are critical to ensuring these tools build better bonds of trust rather than breaking them down, promoting a future where technology and human intuition work hand in hand.

Thinking about that that "slop accelerationism" post, and also Scott's AI art Turing test.
I also hope AI text- and image-generation will help shake us loose from cheap bad art. For example, the fact that you can now generate perfectly rendered anime girls at the click of button kindof suggests that there was never much content in those drawings. Though maybe we didn't really need AI for that insight? It feels very similar to that shift in fashion that rejected Bouguereau-style laboriously-rendered pretty girls in favor of more sketchy brush work.
But will we really be so lucky that only things that we already suspected was slop will prove valueless?
As usual with AI, Douglas Hofstadter already thought about this a long time ago, in an essay from 2001. Back in 1979 he had written
Will a computer program ever write beautiful music? Speculation: Yes, but not soon. Music is a language of emotions, and until programs have emotions as complex as ours, there is no way a program will write anything beautiful. There can be "forgeries"—shallow imitations of the syntax of earlier music—but despite what one might think at first, there is much more to musical expression than can be captured in syntactical rules. There will be no new kinds of beauty turned up for a long time by computer music-composing programs. Let me carry this thought a little further. To think—and I have heard this suggested—that we might soon be able to command a preprogrammed mass-produced mail-order twenty-dollar desk-model "music box" to bring forth from its sterile [sic!] circuitry pieces which Chopin or Bach might have written had they lived longer is a grotesque and shameful misestimation of the depth of the human spirit. A "program" which could produce music as they did would have to wander around the world on its own, fighting its way through the maze of life and feeling every moment of it. It would have to understand the joy and loneliness of a chilly night wind, the longing for a cherished hand, the inaccessibility of a distant town, the heartbreak and regeneration after a human death. It would have to have known resignation and world-weariness, grief and despair, determination and victory, piety and awe. In it would have had to commingle such opposites as hope and fear, anguish and jubilation, serenity and suspense. Part and parcel of it would have to be a sense of grace, humor, rhythm, a sense of the unexpected and of course an exquisite awareness of the magic of fresh creation. Therein, and therein only, lie the sources of meaning in music.
I think this is helpful in pinning down what we would have liked to be true. Because in 1995, somebody wrote a program that generates music by applying simple syntactic rules to combine patterns from existing pieces, and it sounded really good! (In fact, it passed a kind of AI art turing test.) Oops!
The worry, then, is that we just found out that the computer has as complex emotions as us, and they aren't complex at all. It would be like adversarial examples for humans: the noise-like pattern added to the panda doesn't "represent" a gibbon, it's an artifact of the particular weights and topology of the image recognizer, and the resulting classification doesn't "mean" anything. Similarly, Arnulf Rainer wrote that when he reworked Wine-Crucifix, "the quality and truth of the picture only grew as it became darker and darker"—doesn't this sound a bit like gradient descent? Did he stumble on a pattern that triggers our "truth" detector, even though the pattern is merely a shallow stimulus made of copies of religious iconography that we imprinted on as kids?
One attempt to recover is to say Chopin really did write music based on the experience of fighting through the maze of life, and it's just that philistine consumers can't tell the difference between the real and the counterfeit. But this is not very helpful, it means that we were fooling ourselves, and the meaning that we imagined never existed.
More promising, maybe the program is a "plagiarism machine", which just copies the hard-won grief, despair, world-weariness &c that Chopin recorded? On its own it's not impressive that a program can output an image indistinguishable from Gauguin's, I can write such a program in a single line:
print("https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gauguin,Paul-Still_Life_with_Profile_of_Laval-_Google_Art_Project.jpg")
I think this is the conclusion that Hofstadter leans towards: the value of Chopin and the other composers was to discover the "template" that can then be instantiated to make many beautiful music pieces. Kind of ironically, this seems to push us back to some very turn-of-the-20th-century notion of avant-garde art. Each particular painting that (say) Monet executed is of low value, and the actual valuable thing is the novel art style...
That view isn't falsified yet, but it feels precarious. You could have said that AlphaGo was merely a plagiarism machine that selected good moves from historical human games, except then AlphaGo Zero proved that the humans were superfluous after all. Surely a couple of years from now somebody might train an image model on a set of photographs and movies excluding paintings, and it might reinvent impressionism from first principles, and then where will we be? Better start prepare a fallback-philosophy now.

hey, same person who requested Medium/Psychic Reader. I've noticed you wrote only for 2 characters but is it okay if u do the same for Optimus and Ratchet please?
[ Please do not repost, plagiarize, or use my writing for AI! Translating my work with proper credit is acceptable, but please ask first! ]
Optimus
The rides back to base from the church are always haunted by this eerie and tense silence, and it's impossible to miss the stark difference in their demeanor before and after the church congregation. He's unsure whether it's normal for humans to seem exhausted and on edge after attending a religious congregation, and though he momentarily considers this may be part of their religious culture, he's far too concerned to simply leave it be.
He asks the question up front and directly, it's clear he's not beating around the bush, and he wants an answer because he's concerned for their welbeing not only as their guardian but as a friend. If they choose to lie to him, it'll be hard persuading him to leave it at that unless they're a very--and I mean very--good liar. He is by no means a lie detector, but he's good at picking up on the signs and interpreting them.
If they're honest with him, he believes them rather quickly, given the general belief of the existence of an afterlife in cybertronian culture. However he finds it fascinating, given how it's not exactly clear that humans have a "spark" or a "soul" that would be reborn, and yet some persist after death and take the form of a ghost with the potential to grow malevolent and harmful towards the living.
When he goes to pick them up, he'll offer to escort them back home early and so they can rest and relax from whatever it was they had to do that day. However, if they don't wish to be alone in that moment, he'll bring them back to base and they can sit near the rails as he works, or they can join him on a brief patrol around the area.
Ratchet
He's not one to poke and prod at business that doesn't concern him, no matter the rumors he hears about it, yet the only exception is when said business ends up hurting others. In this case it has to do with his charge. He's heard the kids gossip about the local church in town, and they talk about ghosts and the paranormal, and of course he doesn't believe in such things... Or so he thinks.
His eyes are sharper than they'd expect, and he tends to notice a lot of things that they think they're hiding well as he drives them back to base. He doesn't miss the haunted look on their face, or the tense periods of silence after attending the "assembly" at church, or the way they jump at the creaking of the metal pipes that run along the walls once they're back inside.
And one day he'll ask how "church" went after picking them up. If they're clearly reluctant to talk, he'll push, insisting that it's obvious that they don't look well after whatever they had just done, and as their guardian, he needs to know what's happened because he's concerned that it's causing them some sort of harm.
But if they're honest, he'll hesitate to respond. He's skeptical that ghosts and spirits exist, seeing as humans don't seem to have any sparks that persist after their bodies die, but if humans are the spawn of Unicron, then perhaps this is a result of that? If this is genuinely what is causing them all this stress then he'll take it at that. From then on, every time they finish "church", he'll offer to take them for a drive around the town to get their mind off all the stress they no doubt endured during the exorcism or whatever else it was they had to do that day.

Catch My Lies
Summary: Honesty is the best policy, but the truth hurts, it’s why white lies exist. It’s all about what you believe, so what’s it going to be? Lie through the teeth or speak from the heart? There are no wrong answers, both can and do exist.
Aka the powers verse I first wrote back in 2021 for CoAi week. In which Ai tells lies convincingly, and Conan is a living truth detector. Any guesses as to who wins when they collide?
Dedicated to @kalopsiarts for the encouragement to finally write this fic <3

Which brings me to the most popular theory that ruin is still infected. There is so much evidence that this is true like in the video “Eclipse has a new identity?!?! In VrChat” ruin sings the song “you’ll be back” from Hamilton. I listened to the song multiple times and yes I doubt the show would put this much effort into it but the whole song, the lyrics, they all seem like something that infected ruin would say and do. (It’s also only that one song from Hamilton that ruin sings). Another time that he does this is in the video “Moon fixed the portal in VrChat” ruin starts out singing the daycare theme then he abruptly changes to sing you’ll be back. And of course the infamous handshake with earth. Just in case you don’t know during the video “using a lie detector on ruin eclipse in VrChat” ruin shakes both of moon’s hands this caused the virus to spread to the usb finger that moon had, this resulted in the death of both the old computer AI’s. In the video “Earth learns solar’s purpose in VrChat” ruin shakes earth’s hand

Critical Role, Campaign 3 Episode 79
Erina? Yeah ... what came? What fresh hell ... a paternity test? Apparently Matt is Sam's father ... oh boy ... Matt trying to stress that he's YOUNGER than Sam ... XD ... Sam: "Papa ... did I make you proud?" Wow ...
They cut Ashley off before she could finish her plug and it made her choke on her own spit.
"Beauregard's Interrogation Brew" ... XD
Ah yes ... the team building exercises ... how's THIS gonna go?
To long rest or not long rest ... that is the question ...
Chetney wondering if Nana Morrie grants wishes ... no, more like DEALS ... oh yes, the classic Faustian Pact ...
The bush people in the tree garden? Oh boy ... FCG: "So you're trimming people?" Eeeeeeeeeh ... O.O
Oh yeah ... Peepers ... that thing ... "weird xenomorph rabbit" is pretty accurate in my mind ...
So ... Chetney wants to be YOUNG again ... just to be "hot as shit", apparently ... cultivated and curated chest hair and a serious moustache ... yeah ...
I love how they're ragging on Liam being away by making funny jobs at Orym spending all yesterday working out ...
Fearne's complicated upbringing ... hmmm ... wait ... is that a PHONE? Matt immediately makes Travis take psychic damage got his character as punishment ... LOL
Nana wants to "plot" with FCG ... and being very creepy about it ... yeah ...
Oh, new rooms? Made to measure but in a creepy way ... Travis: "Like AI generated bedrooms?" Oh yes ... Matt takes thr idea and runs with it to disturbing effect ...
Door? Fearne has a sentient talking door for her room ... of course she does ...
Catching up with Birdie ... oh, and now she's fishing for "The Truth" ... hmmmmmm ... where's THIS going?
29 on an Insight check? Whoa ... wait, FEARNE is thr group's lie detector? I mean it makes sense, but ...
Mr Nesbitt!!! Yay! Nice to see a familiar face ... I love that freaky thing so much ...
Ah, the garden ... yeah ... creepy weirdness abounds as usual ... no doubt this will be put to use for the games ...
Here we go ... truth time ... aha! Backstory! Okay ...
Hold on, was that dude Fearne's daddy?
Fuck ... he was ... oh boy ... and it was a union of "great import" ... yup, so Ollie wasn't her father, but he WAS her daddy ... yup ... who? Athion Zathuda ... the Sorrowlord of the Unseelie Court? Man ... that freaky Arch Fey guy is Fearne's baby daddy! Holy shit!
Yeah ... that is A LOT ... I mean A LOT ...
Well yes, this was probably the best way Fearne could have grown up under the circumstances ... is she actually one of the most well adjusted of the group after all? Weird thought, but I like it ...
Awwww ... reconciliation of sorts, that's sweet and we'll take what we can get ...
Oh, Ashton and Orym having a private heart-to-heart? This should be interesting. Even if Ashton does think Orym's just taking him off to quietly kill him ... XD
Ah ... meta humour ...
Wow, so ... Orym's really going EASY on him here, clearly ... Orym: "Don't let perfect be the enemy of good." WOW ... that is AWESOME advice ...
We really don't get enough of THIS friendship ... I really like this dynamic a lot ...
Is Allura about to get a bit loose jn a drink-based way? Is that where this is going?
I agree with Chetney, that was indeed a "dope flex" ...
Whoa ... are we gonna get some Allura backstory? Awwwww ... her "little lion" ... love the little nod to Kima ... :3
Imogen takes off the Circlet? Wow ...
Of course Chetney's thinking about sex. What did we expect?
Fearne has an announcement? Okay ...
Nana has DONE SOMETHING with FCG's memories in order to plot this thing out? Oh boy ... this is a worrying implication for what's to come ...
And that was SCARY, Nana ... plus the talking together, what the bright blue FUCK was that? O.O
Here we go, Fearne spills the beans ... so Fearne is actually royalty ... Laudna: "Wait, THAT was your takeaway?" Meanwhile this is an additional connection to Otohan and co ...
Imogen: "What if we're stepsisters?" Fearne: "Oooh, exciting!" Orym: "We may have to KILL THEM."
Sammanar? Hmmmm ... yeah, we're definitely off on a weird tangent ...
Oh, so Nana knows all about the Sorrowlord ... znd apparently HE knows about Fearne ... great ...
Sammanar is another one of the five Arch Fey lords ... and "a bit of a prick" ...
Dusk Hunger, the Blade of the Black Flame ... wow ...
So they're showing Nana the Shard, eh? Okay then ... oh, so it "smells like" Fearne? Interesting ... wait ... is Fearne a remnant like Ashton then?
And now they're showing her the Harness too ... Nana: "Hungry goes the Bastards of Time." Okay ...
"A bit of the Old World"? Hmmmm ...
Fearne is still wary about taking in the Shard and I don't blame her at all ...
Ooooh ... Fearne got SASSY with Allura there ... XD
Oh, so Allura's giving us a little info on the Moonweaver ...
Sam's flask is very on the nose this week and nearly derails the whole discussion ... XD
Allura has some lore on Nana? Intriguing ...
Taliesin invokes Disney witches for insight on a 21 and gets some Whispers ...
A fruity aroma? And s gathering of critters? Where's THIS going?
Magic items to be earned? Intriguing ...
Weird tea ... okay ... are they about to be drugged up to their eyeballs?
Which first, then? Honesty? Okay, then ...
Wait, where the fuck are they now? In the jungle? What the hell? A chasm? Yikes ...
A brass monocle? Hmmmm ... the first item ... the Monocle of True Essence? Oh, they have to find it? Okay then ...
The chasm only listens to honesty? Hmmm ...
Fuck, now they're falling into the pit ... and NOW Matt chooses to go to break? Ye gods ...
Falling into a stanky rooty pit, then ... oh, this is NASTY ... charming place, clearly ...
Are they alone? Get sniffing, Chet. 6 ... oof ... Nice going, wolf boy ...
Telling a truth makes step grow? Interesting ...
Meanwhile looking for the lens ...
Imogen is scared to meet her mum again. Hmmmm ...
LEECHES!!! LEECHES!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! SHIT!!!
Both Laudna AND Delilah want the Shard? Oof ... and while Imogen loves her, Delilah being able to watch them creeps her out ... ouch ...
Wow, look at that, there's like a whole city down here ...
Orym is very lonely ALL THE TIME? Boy ... and then FCG just lays down dom existential dread ...
Laudna climbs the steps onto the bridge. Oh, balance check ...
Orym wonders if Chetney's actually his dad ... whoa ... that is ... awkward ...
Ashton was the cause for the robbery going bad that caused his own accident and how he ended up the way he is ...
FCG casts Light ... they start searching with real purpose now ... cue perception and investigation checks ...
Fearne thinks they're ill equipped and they're going to fail on saving the world ...
Chetney fears being rendered obsolete in his field of toy making expertise ...
Orym and Imogen are climbing now too.
Whenever FCG kills something it calms hom znd helps him relax? Yeesh ...
Imogen doesn't know if she WANTS to save gods who don't love her ... meanwhile Laudna believes they could just quit from this whole path anytime ...
Orym spots a faint green glint ... he may have spotted it? Okay ... look into that ... he takes a chance and does a leap out into the open ... with Imogen's help he lands where he intended to ... okay then ...
Bingo! There's the monocle! Nice one, wee man!
So everybody's just trying to climb out now? Is that going to work?
Fearne likes to mess with them all a little when they sleep. Nothing bad, just little curiosities ... that's ... an awkward one ... but it does fit with her character ...
Well, they're getting there ...
Ashton worries that all of them are capable of killing at least one of the others ...
Orym has all the faith in the world in all of them, but is also pulling a Batman to find each one's weakness in case it's needed too ... yeah ...
FCG worries he relies too much on the Changebringer but that she might not actually be on their side after all ...
Weird buoyant balloon mushrooms? What the fuck? Holy shit, that actually works? Crap ...
Imogen is disappointed in Fearne for not taking the Shard, and Laudna agrees.
Orym misses Dorian ... how is that any kind of revelation?
Matt is regretting the mushrooms now as it completely derails the session into gales of laughter ...
Liam: "I love it when we pervert Matt's narrative! It's true!"
Pate is not capable of deep truths, apparently ...
Ashton hates that he fucked up Fearne's life and wishes he'd died instead ... oh man ...
Wow ... Chetney is just a whole MESS of neuroses, isn't he?
Eagle things? What the hell is THIS shit? Oh, these are just WEIRD ... but they're helping, at least ... so ... that was it, then? Hmmmm ...
Wait, that was FCG's idea? Kind of ... hmmmm ...
Yes. Check for leeches ...
Oh boy, the monocle has a card ... oh, that's sweet ... oh yeah, Orym should DEFINITELY have that with his crazy perception ...
I agree, Chetney should have a hug ...
What's next? Communication? Okay ...
And now they're underground ... some kind of low hanging cavern? Hmmmm ...
A thunder wasp hive? Seriously?
A beautiful purple scarf ... torn into three pieces ... wait, so now Ashton, Imogen and Chetney are LITERALLY BLIND?!!! What the fuck? And now they're just GONE ... now at the ends of each of the platforms ...
Matt makes Travis swap seats with Marisha ... znd freaks him out while he does it ...
This is a COMPLETELY UNIQUE game situation ... for fuck's sake this is gonna get SO BAD ...
Great. Now there are FUCKING WASPS out here too ...
Now FCG is being AGGRESSIVELY STUNG ...
This is a genuinely RIDICULOUS thing we're witnessing here right now ... seriously I am just sitting here watching this in stunned silence while it gets INSANELY stressful ... snd now Chetney's going into the bug swarm ...
And now Chetney's wolfed out ... but still blind ...
FCG is VERY BADLY STUNG right now ...
Laudna is now sending Pate to kill the wasps ... or not. Hmmmm ... apparently that isn't allowed ...
Oh my gods this is INSANE ...
And now Chetney's getting stung TO FUCK ... Matt is making Travis ROLL BLIND ... 18? Oh thank fuck ...
I can't ... I just can't at this point ... it's BEYOND DESCRIPTION right now ...
Thank fuck THAT is over ... Sam: "Travis Willingham, this is your lower intestine."
And now we have to do this AGAIN ... crap ...
Laura's looks SO MUCH WORSE than Travis' did ... crap ... but it's the Witches working together ... along with Chetney ...
Talk about a bizarre tabletop gaming version of a trustfall ...
It's a good thing Laura and Travis trust each other so much, clearly ... gods, this one is going SO MUCH more smoothly than the previous one ...
No, not now ... damn you, Matthew! No wasps!
Oh wow ... Ashley gives Laura her plush Mister for luck ... Awwwwwwwwww ... :3
Shockflare? Oh, that's FRICKIN SWEET ... nice trick, Imogen ...
Balls ... they're THUNDER wasps ... not fair ...
Oh thank gods that is over at last ... that got so stressful at the end ...
So now it's Imogen and Fearne helping Ashton ...
Wow ... so far they're doing BY FAR the best at this ... oh wait ... yeah, may have spoken too soon ... aaaaaaaah ...fucking hell now it's stressful again ...
Taliesin: "This is the weirdest thing I have ever done in my life." Sam: "I don't think that's true."
Damn it, not the bloody wasps again ...
Ashton is now Raging to beat hid way through the wasps ... FUCK!!! He is now OFF THE FUCKING LEDGE!!! Oh, nice save, but blind ... dear fuck this is TERRIFYING!!! Shit, now he's just FALLING INTO THE FUCKING VOID!!! AAAAAAHHH!!!
Roll a 20, Taliesin! Shit!
Balls ... that was a fail, then ... is he gone? No ... poof, he's back with them. At least that wasn't really anybody's fault, it was just pure bad luck ...
Wait ... are they SERIOUSLY gonna try that again? With NO safety net this time? Come on, you can't seriously ...
Orym is going to go with Chetney and Imogen guiding him? I can't take it any more ...
ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GIVING THEM A TIME LIMIT ON THIS MATTHEW?!!!
I fucking HATE THIS GAME!!!
Holy shit Orym you are a fucking SUPERSTAR!!! Amazing ...
Ooh, fancy stuff ... a magic scarf? Fancy ...
So what's left ... Trust? Okay ...
Deep Fey Realm forest ... ruins all around ... intriguing ... nasty brambles everywhere ... and a big well in the middle ...
Three altars? Somewhere in the ruins? Hmmm ...
Always a catch ... who are THESE guys? Dopplegangers? What the hell? Two of them are going to be replaced?
And that's IT for the night? SERIOUSLY, Matthew? You sadist ...
Next one is gonna be interesting, clearly ...

I really enjoy Philosophy Bear’s latest post “Let's delve into exploring the rich and dynamic tapestry of AI plagiarism or: You're not an AI detector”
In one section, he points out that there’s basically four ways to prevent the use of ChatGPT, and the one that won’t be defeated in time is having solely in-class assignments, where students can be monitored. And that sucks!
Unless something drastic emerges, eventually all assessments will have to be in-class exams or quizzes. This is terrible, I won’t pretend otherwise, students will never learn to structure a proper essay and the richness of the world will be greatly impoverished by this feature of AI- not least of all because writing is one of the best ways to think about something. However, pretending you have a magic nose for AI that you most likely don’t have won’t fix this situation.
Justice, always and everywhere, no matter the level, means accepting the possibility that some (?most) wrongdoers who think before they act will get the better of the system and prove impossible to discover and convict. The root of so much injustice in sanctions and punishment is here, in an overestimation of our own ability to sniff it out, in turn, born of a fear of someone ‘getting the better of us’. But the bad guys often do get the better of us, there’s nothing more to be said.
This gets directly to the root of the issue! The damage done by trying to figure out whether a student has used AI is worse than the consequences of students getting away with using AI. I remember learning about idea that false negatives are preferable in a justice system back in high school, and it’s undergirded my thinking about police, courts, and the enforcement of rules in general ever since. I’m always surprised to encounter people who either arrived at different conclusions or haven’t thought about it at all.
Following from this position, I try to practice deliberate gullibility in my relationships. I believe that my loved ones have the right to privacy from me, and I trust that if they lie to me about something, it’s for a good reason. I wouldn’t make a blanket recommendation to do this—part of the reason this works for me is that I am good at setting boundaries and select for friends who act in good faith. However, I do think that people should be less tolerant of their loved ones “checking up” on them. Things like going through emails and texts, sharing phone/computer passwords, sharing locations, asking a friend to test your partner’s loyalty are patently awful to me. The damage caused by treating people with ongoing suspicion is worse than just accepting that sometimes you will be hurt and betrayed by people.

Hi, hi!
So... what if I have more thoughts? XD
I just keep thinking about the reveal and how things might be from now on kjghdfkhlj
Like, ahhh, just the getting used to the new normal now that the cat's out of the bag ( or the demon out of the animatronic? XD) First of all there's probably gonna be a talk (if more pressing matters don't arise dfksjgjh) Y/n understandably wants so many answers and I just keep wondering what they will ask first. They still seem very unsure on what to believe, even if they seem more used to the idea that their friend really is a demon. There's of course gonna be that bit about who the boys have killed, but also I see them questioning every part of the last months. The hunter seems to have started accepting the idea that Eclipse really does want to stay with them, but also it wouldn't be strange for doubts (spurred by their previous experience with a demon, and the recent encounter with Shoh) to keep coming back and maybe they'll wonder once in a while when the demon will get tired of them and kill them after all.
I wonder if they will look back to everything they have done and ask themselves what parts of it where a lie. They do not really know or trust that Sun and Moon never lied to them, since their whole stay with them has been revealed to have been less than honest (by omission), so I just think about all those doubts, and things that might make them question their relationship. Were they really with kids when the doppleganger attacked the first night, or where they hunting someone? Did the hunter ever put someone in danger by bringing them along? Did they know the danger they were putting them in by hiding the detector? When they decided to follow, were they planning at the start to just leave one day without warning after satiating their curiosity about the human in the forest?
But also I see the doubts becoming even more intense when directed at themselves. Maybe after the initial shock of this turn of events they will berate themselves harshly for missing this. They will throw out all the reasons they had for not seeing it and look at all the signs they dismissed. Lambert clocked them as a demon in like half a day with just 2 signs. They were traveling together for months. They knew what the detector said. Y/n knew what their instincts about the supernatural felt like and they ignored it. Every chill, every feeling of being watched. The refusal to answer any questions about their past as daycare bots, because they didn't have one.
And while I know all the boys felt was relief when they weren't discovered, I can only imagine that y/n might wonder if they were judging them (like they judge themselves now). What it must have looked like from the perspective of a powerful presence like a demon to go unnoticed by a so-called hunter. Fearing that it was amusing in their eyes that they defended the boys from all strangers that claimed they were unsettling, or when they were acting apologetic for pushing about their "traumatizing" experience with the pizza plex, or feeling foolish for trying to comfort them when the only one truly in danger and afraid (for their own life at least) was y/n. I can totally see them exchanging the "I'm not enough for them to feel safe and trust me" thoughts for something like "I am a blind idiot and was making a fool out of myself all this time" .
(Not that the boys would think any of the above, but y/n has a bad habit of swallowing their insecurities so they might need to coax those out of them in order to stop them from keeping that mentality)
And ooh, I'm so curious about how the dynamic is gonna move from here. Because now to the hunter, this must feel incredibly out of their hands. Before it was Sun and Moon, the double AI animatronic that had been lost in the forest after a tragic fire took their home away. They are smart, and strong and have some unique abilities due to their robotic nature, but they still were alone and y/n could relate to them on some level. Sure they were physically stronger and experts at taking care of others, but y/n must have felt on equal ground with them because they offered a home and company and care in return as well. A weird new relationship but one that could be based on mututal care and both parties bringing their own strengths to it.
To the hunter now it must feel so unbalanced.
They're still afraid of Eclipse on some level, which will take time to work through. Again the "there's no point in running" line! Even if they didn't feel like running, it's about feeling like they suddenly have so little power in all of this. Not like they ever felt like or even wanted to be someone that Sun and Moon considered their superior or anything, but the boys did make it clear that they would follow their lead. Follow in their hunts, and get used to their routine. It was always "so what are we doing next" and y/n would have the answer. Now they are faced with the fact that this demon can do whatever he damn well pleases. They say they won't but they could just kill them, They could just posses them. They could just take them anywhere they wanted. They have nearly no instruments to fight back and what they do have they wouldn't be able to do that much with by themselves. There might be a feeling of being incredibly small and that suddenly they don't have that much say in anything that is happening.
But ahhh this all just speculation of our dear hunter's inner future turmoil about how things are going XD I can't help but wanting to think about all the deepest and darkest fears and thoughts because I do love wondering about the angst kjdfhgñ
Of course, there's a whole episode left, and that might mean that a lot of these get pushed for later or maybe even a lot of these worries won't be able to arise before they will be proven wrong to the hunter by future events yet to come! Very excited to see what happens next!
(Obviously I don't expect confirmation of anything because spoilers haha, but thought you might find it interesting if I dumped all these thoughts here kdfjhgsñh)
Heya, babe!!!
Ahhh, I love where your mind is going because, boy, if there ain't a whole suitcase to unpack here for Y/N and the boys! Angst galore (with some hurt/comfort to follow behind of course ♥)
I don't want to confirm or deny anything, but I will say that there are consequences for Eclipse lying to them beyond the reveal, and it will be devastating.
Chaotik, I am always interested in your thoughts ♥
#slurping up every word#just every doubt and question and plain wondering of what was true and what was false#the boys gotta take care of y/n first#cryptid sightings#cryptid sightings spoilers#chaotikanvas

So, I was killing time by playing with Character AI because why the fuck not? and I unintentionally created a DSMP AU where; Tommy died during the revolution,
Wilbur meets an alchemist witch that is an exiled science scholar who was taken care by Philza for a while, their name is Enna and they love causing pub-like food fights, is a great caretaker and is a walking lie detector,
Fundy is dealing with consequences of his actions that almost led his nameless childhood friend to an early grave,
Philza has like, an immense pride when it comes to Wilbur and Kristin, and is not ashamed to share this pride with Enna,
Wilbur never actually dies, because Enna is holding him with a promise,
Philza is butally murdered by Dream after the L'manburg explosiom,
Enna and Will are followed by crows and pigeons (for some reason...),
Techno almost get killed, and because of it, he's almost the whole story in Blood God state,
Potatos are a form of friendship, and a way to start food fights at tavern,
It's always good to have a potion master by your side, as they're the best support ever,
Dream is dumb if he thinks he can actually kill Technoblade.
Technoblade never dies. Obviously,
Music therapy,
Slow bur sure recovery,
Food fights,
Simple ending, but one that allows me to sleep at night.

I was saying this was going to be the situation back when the panic kicked off. The realities of the technology set in an it turns out that once again the fears and hype were two sides of the same coin.
The same results cherrypicking, the same predictions for worker replacement, the same misrepresentation of the tech, its limitations, and its applications.
The tech is progressing, so some of the above issues might be eliminated sooner than later, but if the person in the chair doesn't have the kind of soft skills that come with training and practice, they're going to be in the same boat.
And along the same lines, if one doesn't know what AI can do or how it works, they're not going to be able to evaluate whether someone can actually use the tech in a given situation or not.
The aesthetics simulators make great aesthetic gloss (shocking),
Person replacer? Nope. Semi-Reliable Dunning-Kruger detector? Certainly.
Generative AI is most effective when it's making parts. It's a force multiplier and a time-saver, not a person-replacer. Every "this will make artists obsolete", no matter who said it, was always a lie. It was just a lie both hypemen and doomsayers could use in equal measure, pumping OpenAI's stock either way.
Beyond that, it's a tool, like any other.
This machine kills AI

My hope and dreams are cracked but I won’t let the gods of the show break me!
Is ruin straight evil, infected still with the virus, or something else?
Let’s say that ruin is just evil alright so why would he do this? Well everyone casts him aside no one interacts with him maybe he made eclipse so then he could feel useful. The problem with this is that ruin just isn’t the kind of person to do this! If anything he would feel like he owes moon and sun the world for helping him be free. So I doubt that ruin would make eclipse on his will. Unless the show just decides the destroy his whole personality lol which is very likely
In the video “Earth learns solar’s purpose in VrChat” ruin shakes earths hand and then leaves immediately afterwards. So it’s safe to assume that transferred the virus to earth but since bloodmoon beat the hell out of her the virus never did anything serious. I could go on and on about things that show that ruin might still have the virus.
Lastly we have something else is influenced ruin into making eclipse. I’ve been thinking for a while that maybe it’s ruin’s killcode that is making him do this we know for a fact this ruin’s moon was and is extremely violent and the killcode could be acting to be ruin. The only problem with this is that sun was also a factor that could counter the killcode. But then again killcode could suppress sun when sun and moon were in the same body. Ruins referred to himself on multiple occasions as “we” or “our”instead of the normal “me” “I” and “my” this may just be because ruin’s sun and moon’s personalities clash during certain situations for example when ruin got back to the daycare after being kidnapped he says multiple times that he doesn’t know what to feel about the situation moon would be angry and try to do something rash (remember that ruin’s sun and moon didn’t make the show so they would act like pre-show sun and moon) while sun would be upset and scared about the situation. These two things would clash causing ruin to be confused on what to feel. Again I could go on and on about it but this post is getting long lol

Price Oscillators and Dead Cat Bounces: Ninja Forex Strategies Why Most Traders Misread Price Oscillators and Dead Cat Bounces Let’s face it: Price oscillators can seem as complicated as assembling IKEA furniture without the manual. And the dead cat bounce? It’s one of those market moves that’ll make you question everything—but only if you don’t know how to decode it. The Price Oscillator: Your Market Pulse Monitor The price oscillator measures the difference between two moving averages and plots the result as a line. This helps traders identify overbought and oversold conditions. - Use Case: Think of it as a lie detector for market trends. When the oscillator’s line peaks above a certain level, the market might be overbought; when it dips too low, it could be oversold. - Pro Tip: Pair the price oscillator with volume analysis. A spike in volume when the oscillator hits an extreme level? That’s your market yelling, “Hey, something big’s about to happen!” The Dead Cat Bounce: A Feline Illusion Despite its grim name, the dead cat bounce is simply a temporary recovery in a downtrend before the market resumes its bearish trajectory. - Use Case: Spotting a dead cat bounce can save you from buying into a false rally. - Pro Tip: Combine it with fundamental analysis to confirm the underlying weakness. If bad news caused the initial drop, a bounce likely won’t last. The Art of Combining Price Oscillators and Dead Cat Bounces Here’s the secret sauce: Use the price oscillator to identify potential turning points and the dead cat bounce to confirm market sentiment. Together, they’re like peanut butter and jelly—better together. Step-by-Step Ninja Strategy: - Monitor Oscillator Extremes: Keep an eye on overbought or oversold conditions. - Wait for the Bounce: Look for a temporary price recovery (the “cat” in action). - Confirm with Volume: High volume during the bounce suggests it’s a trap. - Plan Your Entry: Short-sell when the bounce loses steam and aligns with the oscillator’s signal. Underground Tactics for Mastering Price Oscillators and Dead Cat Bounces 1. The Bounce Trap Use Fibonacci retracement levels to measure how far the bounce might go. If the bounce struggles to break the 38.2% level, it’s likely a dead cat. - Bonus Hack: Pair this with the price oscillator’s bearish divergence for a rock-solid short signal. 2. Oscillator Zones of Power Divide your oscillator chart into zones: extreme highs, extreme lows, and the “neutral zone.” Use these zones to anticipate reversals or continuations. - Bonus Hack: Trade only when the oscillator moves from one extreme to the other for higher probability setups. 3. The News Bounce Maneuver When bad news hits the market, watch for a bounce within the next 24 hours. Use the oscillator to confirm if it’s a trap. - Bonus Hack: If the oscillator shows a bearish divergence during the bounce, it’s a green light to short. Common Pitfalls (And How to Avoid Them) Mistake #1: Chasing the Bounce - Fix: Always wait for confirmation from the price oscillator and volume before entering a trade. Mistake #2: Ignoring Context - Fix: Remember, a dead cat bounce doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Consider macroeconomic factors and market sentiment. Mistake #3: Overcomplicating Strategies - Fix: Stick to a simple setup: oscillator, bounce observation, and volume confirmation. Final Thoughts: From Cat Chaos to Market Mastery Price oscillators and dead cat bounces might sound intimidating, but with the right tools and mindset, they’re opportunities waiting to be unlocked. The key is to approach them with curiosity, discipline, and a dash of humor. —————– Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated Read the full article

As far as my memory serves, in my canon, I created Circus Baby specifically with intent to bring Charlie back first. She would be the ultimate test. If I could bring her back, I could bring anyone back. Her AI was designed to act as much like Charlotte as I could manage, but once Elizabeth passed, it was impossible to tell who was speaking to me. The horrible mistake about the Funtimes, is that they were very capable of lying. You can't lie-detector-test a robot. So, how am I to believe it when it says it only recognizes me as it's "creator"/boss? How do I know that it doesn't remember being alive? How do I know that it doesn't remember it's name? I wonder if there's an Elizabeth out there who remembers having Baby/"Charlotte"'s AI in her head after she passed. She was always meant to be a proof of concept, but not the way that it turned out she was. If I could use her to bring Charlotte back, I could redeem myself to Henry. I could make it so that no parent ever had to lose their child again. Not me. Not him. Not anyone else. Sometimes I wonder, if I had managed to get my hands on the puppet before Elizabeth's accident... Was Baby's claw a puppet-catcher? It makes more sense to me that way....Otherwise, wouldn't they all have similar claws and stomach cavities? Funtime Freddy has a soundproof possibly air-sealed "child containment" space in his stomach, but seemingly no claw. I'd also like to bring to your attention the similarities between that idea, and Glamrock Freddy's stomach hatch. If I'm right, and it's air-sealed, a child would fun out of oxygen inside pretty quickly. Raises some questions about Gregory, in actual canon, if I'm right. But, I digress.... Had I managed to catch the Puppet before Henry, and had I been able to figure a way to get her to latch onto Baby instead of the Puppet.... I have to believe it would have worked. Repeatable, concrete proof that bringing someone back from the dead was possible. No one could have ignored that.
