Hey, GoogleDocs, what the actual fuck is this nonsense????
#ai is prejudiced#because it was trained on prejudiced data#what i was writing is not important#and there have been a lot of bad 'corrections' where I just rolled my eyes bc it's stylistic or I'm making characters have specific voices#but this one genuinely stunned me#why would there ever be a reason for 'bullshit' to be more appropriate than 'adjective bullshit'?#i tried other adjectives too and it was fine with alla them#so this was a bizarre outlier that I hate

It the only we get in the male reader tags
Fanfic writers don't owe you content unless you paid for it
Saying you can't find any m/m fics, but you also say you just use ai anyway bc it's "better"
saying people are either good or writing or they're not, it does not factor with you how much practice writing, like any art form, takes.
You gave me screenshots of the x gn tag, meaning, obviously you're going to get gender neutral fics, the x male reader tag, and the jjk x male reader tag works just fine, block the accounts you don't like, simple.
You have openly bragged about making other fanfic writers quit writing because they didn't write for male readers, which is abhorrent behaviour on your part.
You've stated that you have the right to complain about people writing gn/fem. reader fics, but say they can't??
You've said that you have the time to write, and that you tried to do so but you gave up because your writing wasn't good enough.
you said people who write only gn afab reader are "misandry" (I'm assuming you meant misandrists), which is really immature. If they don't feel comfortable writing that stuff, who are you to force them?
you have something against nonbinary people and women for some reason
You tell people to gn, and then proceed to say you're uncomfortable with it
You expect all writers to male reader too if they write gn/fem readers which is really...
You've mentioned multiple times how because of your slurring problem you can't write. Slurring does not affect you writing in any way because you're not speaking unless you have a cognitive issue relating to the speech which would be understandable but otherwise..
I saw the tags in some of the screenshots you sent me, and x male reader/ jjk x male reader wasn't even on them, if you're in the gn tag, you're going to find gn content.
Complaining about something that you want more in media is fine, however coming after specific creators, harassing them to the point of deactivating, and refusing to listen to people who point out your mistakes is extremely toxic. In general from my (unfortunate) conversation with you, you sound like a raging misogynist, narcissistic, entitled, haughty, lazy, and oddly prejudiced against certain people in the lgbtq+ community despite being in it yourself.
Edit: Some of y'all are PRESSEDD about this post, no need to harass me in asks lmao it was never that deep

I mentioned not buying that Dr. Pulaski in Star Trek TNG wouldn't have a gut "that's a living being" reaction to Data (even if she did go on to be prejudiced against him and double down on him just being a machine, which I would buy), which affected my suspension of disbelief.
Someone has actually resuspended my disbelief by pointing out that Pulaski lives in the space future where people talk to their computers, have holograms, etc, and that she's had essentially every year of her life to have it reinforced in her mind that AI aren't real people.
Data might be the first true AI she ever saw, but he's far from the first "AI" she's talked to. That easily explains her lack of the sort of "that's a guy" gut reaction I'd expect. Her gut didn't see Data as anything new (which was the problem).
So apologies to... (checks) the 1987 writers of TNG. Her initial reaction made more sense than I thought it did.
I mean, I still don't like her being mean to Data, of course. I'm just saying I can now buy her immediately seeing him as a talking toaster.

GIVE ME YOUR ANSWER: JULY 7TH, 2024.
“A gifted engineer by day and spy by night, Veronica is content living life away from the public eye. But after her boss mysteriously vanishes, she is surprised to find that she is next to inherit his corrupt company-- especially considering that he fired her for attempting to steal the Alien Girl, an advanced AI and his most prized pet project.
After she reboots it, she learns that it is more alive than anyone could have imagined.
Meanwhile, she is forced to battle murder accusations from the media, the public, and multiple world governments.
In a prejudiced world, the Alien Girl becomes her only escape. It is only a matter of time before she must dig up her old boss's dark secrets to protect herself and her new companion.”
Now that DAISY BELL’s released a couple of days ago, I have a book announcement.
Its sapphic sequel will be officially releasing on the 7th of July. Brace yourselves for a novel about the lesbian allure of the machine.

AI is a man made invention at its core, AI does not pull its concepts out of nowhere. They are filled to the brim with the exact same biases and bigoted ideas that this society has bred because unless specifically programmed otherwise (IE. directly programmed with specific opposite ideas) they will pull from the masses such as the internet and these masses will reign supreme and cause offensive things like stereotypes to play a part in whatever it generates. It’s kind of like that google comparison of “professional hairstyles for work” vs. “unprofessional hairstyles for work” the bias is unavoidable because the biased populace is undoubtedly where the ai will pull from unless requested otherwise
Nobody is talking about how outright racist some AIs are. I remember when I used to enjoy looking at AI art as a concept, before realizing how wrong it is, and how so many of those AIs outright whitewashed Black and dark-skinned brown characters. I remember this one AI making Sakura Okami from Danganronpa not only light-skinned, but skinny and without muscles. I even saw an AI just now say that no African country starts with the letter K. Umm...Kenya??? As a Black woman, it just makes me hate AI even more. Though who tf is really surprised.
#I think it’s important to know how ai works when we criticize it#ai is ai it doesn’t have feelings or emotions or prejudices it’s that people do not program it to specifically not be prejudiced

Things I Think About:
Awoken Edition
Do Reefborn Awoken still bio-engineer their children? I think I read somewhere that natural births superseded bioengineered ones by the time The Guardian visits the Reef, but I can't find the grimoire/lorebook for that. It'd be an interesting point of tension between Reefborn and Earthborn (especially for those trying to date!) - while the former would see it as a way of survival, the latter might see it as a form of eugenics/population control.
How do Reefborn Awoken treat their AI? It is said that Reef Frames are merely "computers with robotic appendages"; do they view their AI with similar indifference? How would they approach Failsafe? How do they feel about the humanization of Last City Frames, or even pre-Golden Age robots like Curiosity? If Medusa is real, and not just a construct of Savathûn, how would they react if she revealed herself?
Throughout Season of the Seraph, Mara called Rasputin an "it" and said the Awoken "has long been wary of such a power in the system." She claimed Ana shaped Rasputin into something better, but did she actually see him as "more than a weapon" in the end?
Are Reefborn Awoken still prejudiced against Earthborn and Risen Awoken after the events of Forsaken? They aren't openly hostile, but many still seem to believe that Earthborn and Risen are severed from their people/purpose. How do they treat Distributary-born Earthborn vs. second- or third-gen Earthborn? How do they treat humans with Awoken ancestry? Is "cousin" a formal greeting or a friendly one? Do Earthborn call Reefborn "cousin" as well?
. . .
Edit: adding additional lore entries / flavor text about Earthborn and Reefborn interactions! Thank you @chrimsone for reminding me of some of these! ("Queenslaw"; "Of Earth and the Reef"; "Tigerspite"; "III: Just A Kindness"; "Spirit of Alliance")
. . .
How many of the original Awoken (891 crew or 40,000 passengers) are left? What roles do they serve? Does the Vanguard keep track of the ones who came to Earth? Did the ones in the Reef become part of Mara's court, so she could keep them close?
Do humans with Awoken ancestry have access to Awoken magic? Can Awoken Warlocks learn to dream-walk like Techeuns do? Can Risen Awoken hear Mara telepathically if they choose to open their minds to her? Does Mara have the same effect on Risen and/or later-generation Earthborn as she does on Reefborn? For those who are fully Awoken, do the abilities they pass on get weaker or stronger (or stay consistent) with each generation?
How diverse is Reefborn culture? How much influence does Mara have over it? Aside from local dialects, which developed before the Awoken settled in the Reef, most aspects of Reefborn culture were created to keep them united under Mara's rule. Does Mara have a "soft" influence like British royalty, or does she actively set standards for what is acceptable/frowned upon/taboo? (If she does set cultural standards, I imagine they're presented like the Capybara Corner, where certain behaviors are encouraged* from a young age.)
*Encouraged or idealized? Who's to say. :)
The tragic encounters with Aphelion. The effect of asphodelia flowers on Awoken. The uses for and significance of amethyst. The fact that a lot of things that affect Awoken start with "a."
The parallels between Archiloquy and Nitrogen. The parallels between Savathûn and Mara. Mara's obsession with secrets and how she views "secrets" differently than "lies," even though a lot of her "secrets" can be considered half-truths and lying by omission. The idea that secrets - not truth - keep people safe.
OC-Specific Thoughts #1
Due to paracausal interference during his first resurrection, my Warlock retained his original memories. Would Reefborn Awoken see him as the person he was, or the person he is now?
Mara sees Crow as Uldren, even though she didn't see Savin as Chao Mu or Orin as Nasan Ar. If Reefborn Awoken now believe that Risen can "revert" to their old selves by regaining their memories (actual memories, not "second-hand" accounts like Shinobu's journal), how do they explain other differences - new personalities, the Light's alteration of DNA, etc? Would this change in outlook also change whether they respect a Risen's current identity/personhood?
OC-Specific Thoughts #2
How do Reefborn Awoken treat The Guardian? In the current story, Mara has forgiven The Guardian enough to share her power with them, and even encourages them during their battles against the Shadow Legion. She also seems to blame Savathûn for Uldren's death, though she still views Petra and The Guardian as his "executioners."
However, while Reefborn are more monolithic than Earthborn and baseline humans, they aren't a hive mind and not everyone agrees with Mara's decisions. People like Jolyon probably hold a grudge against The Guardian regardless of Mara's actions or official decrees. Would they act on that grudge? Would they make it known through disapproving expressions and terse tones? Or would they hide it as best they could, whispering just out of earshot and only glaring once The Guardian had passed?
If The Guardian (like my Hunter) has a history of not getting along with Mara, would it make the Reefborn's disapproval more obvious, or would they continue to act in ways that Mara would deem acceptable? Would it affect the way they treat people close to The Guardian, friendly towards The Guardian (Petra, Shuro Chi, etc.) or even Guardians in general? Would it change if The Guardian had helped them personally?
And would Jolyon ever reconnect with Crow, considering how close Crow and The Guardian have become?
#this has been sitting in my drafts way too long#also some of these may have answers but I am Stupid and constantly miss things#destiny#destiny 2#destiny lore#destiny awoken#mara sov#uldren sov#destiny crow#jolyon till#thinking out loud#crow-posting#help me expand Destiny fanon by answering all my Dumb Questions pls

Weird reactions I've seen to GSC's new packaging announcement of eliminating plastic packaging for their Nendoroid boxes:
"People concerned about reducing plastic to make the planet more habitable for the rest of people on this planet's present and future, are SELF-ABSORBED." Do you guys know what "self-absorbed" means?
"Comments calling the people who want to keep excessive plastic packaging 'bad', are borderline bullying and harassment-adjacent behavior." No one called anyone else an overall bad person for who they are---which is what these complaints are implying. That is a Strawman. They just said that if you've been all-for saving the environment by not supporting "generative AI", but you think displaying your Nendoroids in the box is more important than a partial change to help reduce trash, then that's hypocritical. No one is saying you're a bad person. They don't know you. But you can be a good person who does bad things. How about maybe not doing the bad thing? No one may know you enough to judge you as a bad person. But everyone CAN see you calling GoodSmile shit for reducing plastic and whining about how your collecting investment or figurine display is more important. And that is an agreed upon bad thing, you can stop doing.
"People happy about Good Smile Company reducing their plastic packaging production are just bootlicking simps who are just desperate for the company to love them back." What? I swear, the whole "simp culture"/"alpha vs beta male"/"cuck vs chad" subculture is a pox, spreading a veiled layer of misogynist and heteronormative ideas over everything, like a fucking miasma. If your fundamental view of how the world works, is based on these "dating coach"/"chad alpha" influencers, you are a 12 year old little boy who needs to learn that those guys are just assholes who are only teaching you how to treat other human beings as objects to abuse. They're teaching you to become abusers. Not everyone is motivated by Desperation, to "nice guy" or "white knight" their way into achieving their goals. And not everyone's goal is to get some "senpai" they put on a pedestal to "notice them". Please try to think outside those dichotomies. There is more to the world than that. Expand your worldview. Try snippets of lectures, documentaries, or books from experts in fields that you've never tried before. Try different reads on the fictional media you keep claiming is "apolitical". Hell, try getting into a series with a female protagonist or POC, without being prejudiced. Look into human rights rebellions throughout history or why the biggest names in these "dating/manosphere" influencers have been arrested for human trafficking, a form of slavery. ---In short, no one is worshiping at the feet of Good Smile Company for this small bone of a concession. We all know corporations are not our friends. People happy to see Nendoroid boxes have less plastic packaging, are not going to sacrifice their firstborn to Good Smile, in the hope that "senpai will notice them". Believe me, we've got more bones to pick with Good Smile about plastic packaging and other issues, but being happy about a step in the right direction, is how people stay hopeful enough to make good changes in the world, instead of looking to "chad" influencers telling them to feel better by feeling superior for looking down at all the imagined "simp" behavior that lesser mortals are engaging in around them. That's a delusional perspective.
"Nendoroid collectors complaining about the discontinuation of plastic packaging are virgins, while other figure line collectors are chads who are more experienced with Hasbro's eliminated-plastic packaging." Again, simp/manosphere culture makes everything gross. And I'm on the side of plastic-packaging-elimination being cool! But ya notice how the slang "cool" just implies temperature, while "virgin/chad" invoking shaming around sexual history is really gross? I once watched a video by a guy comparing Nendoroids and Funko Pops, and it was almost insufferable, with how often he attempted self-depreciating humor through that whole ideology of "you're cool if you have a lot of sex, and a lower human if you don't have sex". It's gross. And I felt really sorry for him resorting to that type of humor, because he was blatantly so nervous. But it was obliviously the only type of self-deprecating humor he knew. And that's sad. And that humor is gross. Misogynist and painfully heteronormative. Judging people by their sexual activity has lead to a lot of terrible, oppressive societal norms, throughout history, that everyone feels EVERY DAY. I know it's been a part of culture for a long time and is hard to get rid of, but TRY TO at the very least! No one is a better person for having sex. And no one is lesser for not having sex. I'm an aroace enjoying my garlic bread; I can assure you, anything wrong in my life has nothing to do with not having sex, and trying to live up to that ridiculous standard would inevitably make everything worse. You don't need to call something a "chad/stud who gets all the girls" in order to say it's good or impressive. You don't need to call something a "virgin" to stay it's bad. Just say it's bad. Just say something is good. Don't be a fucking chicken. (Not to dump on that one commenter. This rant is more my reply to the whole history of sexual capital being used to rank humans, excuse degrading others, and impose an arbitrary ideology that can and has ruined people's lives.)
"This decision is a bad move for Good Smile Company's business, because then collectors won't be able to keep their investments appreciating in value, by staying inside the box." Now…I know I haven't been to anime conventions in a few years, but Good Smile Company goes to Anime Expo every year, often with their CEO. And GSC representatives have been saying at these conventions FOR YEARS, that the plastics that their figures are made of WILL DEGRADE if you NEVER UNBOX THEM. Keeping figures sealed inside the box will DESTROY them. These are not the vintage Western dolls or vintage figurines. Many Japanese figure materials are very different. The plastiziser is constantly vaporizing off of these figures. If it is trapped inside the box with the figure, that plastiziser will penetrate back into the figure surfaces, MELTING THEM. First, they'll get sticky. Then, they'll start to melt. Some GSC representatives report unboxed figures turning horrible, dark green colors. See if that keeps your investments appreciating. Nendoroid, Figma, all figures by Good Smile Company, and many other plastic figures from Japan, need to be exposed to oxygen. Or at least a display case with some occasional ventilation. You're going to need to unbox the figure to keep it undamaged anyway. That's why eliminating the plastic packaging is doubly necessary. Many static scale figure collectors, Gunpla collectors, and professional paper packaging design experts are already capable of working with plastic-free boxes. It'll be fine. So go play with your toys. Or rewatch Toy Story 2 until you understand that playing with your toys is loving them. Also, there's no shame in loving toys. They're momentoes of our fandoms; not "investment nest eggs".
"Don't all these sheeple know that GoodSmile is changing their packaging just so they could reduce their production costs, and thus, get more profits out of us buying Nendoroids? I'm so smart for not falling for it!" Yeah, I honestly don't care. GoodSmile could triple their profits for simply changing all their plastic packaging to paper, keep the price of Nendoroids the same as it is right now, and I would still appreciate the change from plastic to paper packaging. I'm the one who has to deal with all that bullshit piling up and taking up room in my house. Room, I don't have. The paper prototype designs look collapsible. YES, to saving space! And knowing materials are recyclable, make it easier for me to get trash out of my house, instead of hoarding. So, yes please! Paper has more of a guarantee of being recycled, versus the complicated mess of plastic recycling processes, that sometimes some processors give up on. Better paper in the ground/oceans, biodegrading in a few years, rather than plastic, pouring toxins into the environment and our food supplies, for centuries. I could give less of a care, if this new packaging decision gives GoodSmile clout or more profits. But if clout and profits encourage them to make less plastic packaging for me to deal with, then I hope they go for it.
"I wouldn't have preordered, if I end up getting the new box design that replaces all the plastic packaging with paper." Are you guys Nendoroid collectors or box collectors??????

i love Grok so much because like making an AI be prejudiced is the easiest thing you can do. any sample size big enough to be feeding machine learning on that scale is gonna stumble into the problem of racist and bigoted data correlation, and ESPECIALLY one where users can submit whatever input they want freely. how did Elon build a woke AI that disagrees with him. its so fucking funny he can’t even do that right

Oct 17 (Reuters) - The lead defense lawyer for convicted Fugees hip hop star Prakazrel “Pras” Michel improperly relied on an experimental generative AI program to draft his closing argument in Michel’s high-profile criminal trial last spring, according to a newly-filed brief demanding a retrial for Michel.
Michel’s new counsel from ArentFox Schiff said that the AI-generated closing argument by Michel’s previous lawyer, David Kenner, was a resounding flop: “Kenner’s closing argument made frivolous arguments, misapprehended the required elements, conflated the schemes and ignored critical weaknesses in the government’s case,” the brief said.
By using an experimental AI program to generate his closing argument, the brief said, Kenner botched “the single most important portion” of Michel’s jury trial.
Kenner did not immediately respond to two email queries on the new brief. His co-counsel Alon Israely did not immediately respond to a query sent via LinkedIn.
Michel was convicted in April on federal charges of conspiring with fugitive Malaysian financier Jho Low in three alleged lobbying schemes to influence two different U.S. presidential administrations.
His new lawyers contend Kenner’s defense of Michel was woefully inadequate, in part because he relied on the AI program EyeLevel.AI to craft his final argument in the complex, politically charged case, which featured testimony from Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio and former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
“The AI program failed Kenner, and Kenner failed Michel,” the brief said. “The closing argument was deficient, unhelpful and a missed opportunity that prejudiced the defense.”
What’s even more egregious, according to the ArentFox brief, is that Kenner and Israely “appear to have had” an undisclosed financial interest in a company called CaseFile Connect, which acted as a “technology partner” to EyeLevel.AI.
The brief asserts that Kenner and Israely regarded Michel’s trial as an opportunity to tout CaseFile Connect, advancing their own financial interests at Michel’s expense.
CaseFile Connect did not immediately respond to queries sent through its website.
In a declaration accompanying the brief, ArentFox partner Peter Zeidenberg, a former U.S. Justice Department political corruption prosecutor, said his team first learned that Kenner had used an AI program to write his closing argument from Michel’s former publicist, who told ArentFox that Kenner said as much at the end of Michel’s trial.
ArentFox subsequently found a little-noticed May 10 press release issued by EyeLevel.AI after Michel’s trial, hailing “the first use of generative AI in a federal trial.”
The press release included a quote from Kenner, who said that the AI program “turned hours or days of legal work into seconds,” and called his use of the program “a look into the future of how cases will be conducted."
Zeidenberg’s declaration also cited a LinkedIn post by an EyeLevel.AI executive who confirmed the program’s use at Michel’s trial. “AI startup I've been working on is now the first use of AI in a federal criminal trial,” the executive wrote in the post. “Defense lawyers for Fugees star Pras Michel used our platform to rapidly research and help draft closing arguments.”
EyeLevel.AI said in an emailed statement that Kenner and Israely do not have a financial stake in its program. "EyeLevel's AI for legal is a powerful tool for human lawyers to make human decisions, but do so faster and with far greater information at their fingertips," the company said in response to ArentFox's criticism of its closing argument. "EyeLevel is able to ingest and understand complex legal transcripts based solely on the facts of the case as presented in court."
ArentFox said it had determined that CaseFile Connect and Kenner's law firm both listed the same office suite in Encino, California, as their primary address. CaseFile Connect’s alternative address, according to Zeidenberg’s declaration, was a New York City office associated with Kenner co-counsel Israely.
CaseFile’s website did not disclose its owners, ArentFox said, but the overlap in addresses, Zeidenberg said in his declaration, “appears to confirm that Mr. Kenner and Mr. Israely had a financial interest in the AI program Mr. Kenner used to write the closing argument and then boasted about after trial."
The ArentFox lawyer said in the filing that his team had contacted Kenner and Israely through their counsel but they declined to speak with Michel’s new lawyers about the trial.
The motion seeking a retrial for Michel also argued that the proceeding was tainted because the trial judge, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly of Washington, D.C., allowed jurors to hear that she and another federal judge had already concluded, in the context of the crime-fraud exception to attorney-client privilege, that Michel conspired with an alleged co-conspirator to commit some of the crimes the government charged.
Those references, along with allegedly improper testimony about Michel’s guilt from the lead case agent on his case, turned the jury into “a rubber stamp,” the brief argued.
The brief listed a litany of purported failures by Kenner, in addition to the alleged AI closing argument fiasco. Among the most serious is ArentFox’s accusation that Kenner, who is not an expert in complex white-collar cases or lobbying regulations, outsourced trial preparation to inexperienced contract attorneys at an ediscovery company co-founded by Israely, an old friend.
That inadequate preparation was fatal to Kenner’s attempts to cross-examine government witnesses, the brief said.
Every case, of course, is different, especially when it involves a celebrity defendant and an alleged international scheme of corruption and influence-peddling. Nevertheless, you might find arguments about a trial judge’s allegedly prejudicial comments or a defense lawyer’s shortcomings in lots of filings by white-collar defendants seeking new trials.
What you won’t find anywhere except for ArentFox’s brief for Michel is an assertion that generative AI produced an incoherent argument with grave consequences for a criminal defendant.
Kenner and EyeLevel.AI bragged that Michel’s case was the first criminal trial in which a defense lawyer used AI to draft a closing argument.
Now it’s the first case in which the AI-generated argument has been blamed, in part, for a defendant’s conviction.

So, Tour Guide knows about the conflict between the AI and humans, and apparently had enough data to recreate a decent replica of Cyberse. We know memories have a lot to do with how content gets introduced in Duel Links, but who has access to all those memories, I wonder?
Also, AI’s prejudiced against other monster types.

I didn’t know a PDF of this was so easy to find but this is the most important short story I’ve ever read. Maybe piece of literature period. It has significantly affected not only the way I approach writing and art in general, but... so much. With the rise of AI art its more relevant than ever.
https://d-a-v-e.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/The_Great_Automatic_Grammatizator.pdf
morally, I can not share this without the caveat of disclosing that it was written by Roald Dahl, author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and the BFG, and to inform anyone still unaware that Roald Dahl was a proud and outspoken antisemite and known easily to be deeply racist. He was not a good man, in retrospect. However, he did create major works of literature that affected culture and many peoples lives, and now that he’s dead, there’s no worries about personally supporting him. Many of his works include themes that we can easily see, especially now, are deeply prejudiced, but its worth deconstructing how and why.
This specific piece, however, is removed from those issues, and while he was not a good man, he created some good works. This is one of them. And I really think that you should read it.

You said you're busy, so feel free not to reply now (or ever lol), but what's the difference between supporting that wizard transmisogynistic antisemite and supporting something like, say, Disney? Genuine question. Aren't both bad because it's been proven their profits go straight to anti-LGBT laws? Or is it different? I hate both either way lol. Thanks!
I think the main difference is JKR is singularly making her entire platform about hating trans women, vocally encouraging others to do the same, and has boiled down her career to that one thing. Passively, she is doing OTHER egregious hateful things (mostly antisemitism but also homophobia and racism and more).
Disney is different because... Disney is buying every single thing. Lots of works that exist and were created outside of the Disney "mindset" (whatever that is) have been purchased by Disney. There are things streaming on Disney+ by people who would probably roll around in their graves if they knew who owned their work now.
Disney is harder to avoid in that way but it's also not one singular issue. It is a multiple of projects, some of which are affirming, some of which... are hateful and awful.
I personally do not consume much Disney branded content.
And I think people who worship at the altar of Disney often CAN end up identical (in behaviour and in harm) to HP-defenders.
But... idk... when it becomes less about actual creators and more about the people who end up owning their shit, it's harder. Like... most chain stores are donating to Republicans. I'm sure most streaming services are too. This does get closer to the "no ethical consumption under capitalism" thing where like... you can do the best you can to shop "well" but... corporations are all donating to whoever will protect their profit margins the most and will fund any law possible to get that going.
Corporations have such overwhelming nets they've thrown over hteir industries that it's hard to find anything that has escaped their grasp untainted. It's like... if someone selling their book lets it be distributed through amazon, do we immediately accuse them of supporting amazon exploiting and even killing employees?
It's more nebulous and I'm more willing to handwave (especially the more and more outside of the "Disney" brand Disney owned things get) but JKR isn't so nebulous. She is the creator of HP--the DIRECT creative mind of the entire IP. She is a bigot. The bigotry exists inside the work. The bigotry exists OUTSIDE the work. She specifically uses her platform to spread hate. Uses HP as part of her platform to do that, directly trying to indoctrinate fans into her mindset.
There is no sort of absolving quality to HP left. It isn't detached enough from her hatred to attempt any mental hoops to justify it.
It's not quite comparable to Disney which is a conglomeration of a lot of people who just have the same financier essentially.
If we're talking about specific Disney works that have hateful/prejudiced content in it, yeah it's a more similar comparison.
But also, even with that, I do recommend people do try to consume less Disney branded and even just Disney owned shit. There's more room for lenience in there--I don't think a parent letting their kid watch Moana is doing the same harm as the parent who reads their kid HP every night--but at the end of the dya aI will always say... look for more media on the margins.
Media produced by more independent workers strugglign to make ends meet. Media produced by people who have shit to say. Media with less direct connections to megacorporations who are all donating to the worst peopel on the fucking planet just so they can get more blood from the stones of society's creative soul
#JKR has deliberately made herself a spokesowman for a hate movement#she and HP have reached peak 'you cannot morally consume this' level#its hard to get on that level tbh
