like you'd think. YOUD THINK that IT students of all people would AT THE VERY LEAST understand how generative AI works and what use cases it works best for (none in an ideal world but I digress!!) and YET.

the guy i sat next to in every lab who would immediately pull up chat gpt (ON THE UNI COMPUTERS) and just read out whatever it said whenever he was asked a question (it was a tiny ass lab too how he wasn't caught I will never understand). the BOARD MEMBER FOR THE UNI IT ASSOCIATION who wanted us to "teach our members how to take advantage of AI" (despite our uni guidelines prohibiting AI useage). the amount of people who, when i asked them about a difficult assignment I worked my ass off to finish, would go "oh haha I just got chatgpt to generate my code and report ^-^". I'm getting the same goddamn degree as every single one of these people and yet they're barely putting in any work. I'm going to lose my fucking mind

the fact that microsoft’s inherently shitty ai app is one of the most downloaded and well received apps on the apple app store is an actual fucking crime. idc if it works and that’s why it’s good it’s still ai.

i know anyone who still defends ai being used to replicate and/or replace any form of artistic expression is a massive creatively bankrupt person who probably peaked in high school and is struggling to be anything due to how anything seen as cringe/unpopular equals bad + the majority of people who actively use apps are either old farts with most of their brain ripped out or ipad/tiktok kids who have had their brains rotted to the point of no return but considering how the most popular forms of ai function off of theft and even privacy breaching (with the former at least being pushed to the forefront). yeah.

ai can be good i have to stress that but the ways it has and continues to be most commonly used is stealing, and considering how many voice actors who have had their voice used in voice synthesizers expressed being genuinely uncomfortable and hurt by it, this shouldn’t just be swept under the rug. it’s dangerous. did we learn nothing from the billions of “ai bad and dystopian” plot lines in books/movies/games/any form of media. did we.

Maybe I should post pics of some of my stupid conversation I had when I didn't know about the ability to actually generate multiple replies and had to just do the equivalent of on the spot improv, but I'm probably the only one who'd find that funny—

I so wish the ai's memory was a bit better too causes I'd love to do some actual plot development and worldbuilding, but this is still so far beyond the development of any other chatbot I've ever tried, and I've tried a lot

long time no see :')

it's finals for me this week so as I'm wrapping up the semester I thought I would start updating with some of the projects I've worked on this semester >:) so enjoy! i've lowkey been thinking about trying to make some short-form videos showing my process for lining/revising/finalizing my storyboards for one of my portfolio projects so maybe stay tuned for that? if not, I'll definitely post a link to them when I finish them— in theory, over break!

anyways this is a character concept for a playing card face of the Queen of Diamonds I made for class! our class had to each take a face card and make a playing card design based on the suit and a season/a corresponding holiday using midjourney :) mj is superrrr interesting and, to my knowledge, seems to be a lot more ethical in the image sources they use to develop their algorithm than some more recent AI-powered image creation systems -- overall, this project was a lot of fun!
