Imperial Life Holo Contest: Ziost Winners!

Imperial Life is pleased to present the first round of results for our inaugural Life Day holography contest, featuring the most fitting of subjects: the Imperial Memorial World of Ziost.

Due to the impassioned plea of our loyal readers, we have agreed to award First Place to two holographers, instead of one. While Ziost, in current form, is accessible via approved travel visa, we realize that the present desolation is a poor reflection of the memories, beauty, and lives of the millions who once inhabited our former center of Imperial culture just a handful of short years ago.

Therefore, Imperial Life has selected one holo from present-day Ziost, and one holo, drawn from personal, citizen holographer archives, of the Ziost we remember.

I don't think there is any number of images that could ever describe the feeling of setting foot on that achingly empty world, or the very real pain of simply drawing breath in the fresh Force vacuum that it was. I wasn't there intending to collect memoirs, but, while walking the barren earth, I looked up to see Ziost's sun framed by the husk of a tree, like both the tree and the light were reaching for something, and felt compelled to take this holosnap. I think I saw, in that moment, a memory of the life that had been, and perhaps a quiet hope that the life might yet one day return."

"When I saw IL's solicitation for memorial holos, I just knew I needed to make a risky selection. Yes, it's an old holo. No, there's no way for anyone else to take these anymore. Maybe that's unfair. But I couldn't see how the Ziost wasteland represents our home anymore. People need to be reminded of the beauty and the life we used to have there! There was color! Blue skies! The gnarled Ziost pine and the delicate pink Adas starflower! Red tundrite groundcover and white snowbobs! We had white and black vinecats and red and black reptavians that shone iridescent in the sun!

"So that's what I wanted my holo to represent. It was extremely hard to settle on just one, but I finally did. I wanted the focus to be on life. The starflower is the primary subject. The warrior statue and the high-speed rail are in the background, over the Adasta Canyon with its iconic stone pillars. You go on a hike outside the city and this was life. This is what you saw! Or it used to be.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN ART TRADE here is Ahuska as a certain fox.

I think I managed to pull off mostly what I envisioned, and I’m super happy with how it turned out! I wasn’t going to shade anything, but then I decided there are a lot of lines and I might have drawn some of them with no specific plan in mind, so I figured I could at least figure out some clarity in case someone wishes to do any future coloring totally optional of course. <_<

Anyway anyway, drawing your wonderful Bothan was a super wonderful experience, I love her, she’s gorgeous. ♥♥♥♥

But anyway HI I feel like I missed the peak swtor oc heydey on tumblr and when I see old art circulating it makes me pine for it and wish there were folks I could draw back and forth with??

Anyway I can offer you:

My darling bothan girl Ahuska (I think we did a trade a thousand years back? Anyway the tags in my tumblr will be full of her she is my number one, she'll happily hang out with your characters so long as they're Not Mean to her, she loves to be outside and meet critters and eat sweets, I love putting her in Outfits and delivering angst)

Or I can offer one (1) horrible man (aka Watcher Five, the drawing is when he was undercover on Rishi, normally you'd find him in a crisp Intel officer's uniform or just a really fancy suit but I love how I got his face there - he's ready to be nasty and awful to anyone's OCs and do absolutely anything to Win)

Alternatively, one tired sad Jedi (Ulfran) who's spent the better part of his life undercover as a Sith in the Empire, in one timeline he eventually gets out and is working at redeeming himself for all the harsh calls he's had to make to maintain cover, in another he kinda slips up whoops and it's not so much a cover any more.

Anyway I'd love to have folks to doodle things with, but also I guess reblogging works because I know plenty of folks out here with really really great OCs in a variety of MMOs that I'm sure would adore some more art!! Good luck on your quest!

Hi Anon... not sure this was meant for me, I appreciate the setiment but I can’t draw worth a damn. My preschoolers were so NOT inpressed by the bird I drew based on our shape of the week this morning (hexagon) so yeah... Sorry.

Pros and Cons of Dating Balic Cormac

Technically, Cormac is an in-game NPC, but I stole him because the game didn’t give me enough. He’s mine, now. Well, and I suppose Elara’s too.

Rules: Choose your pros and cons, then explain.

Pros: Cuddles, Loyalty, Laughter, Trust, Self-Esteem 

Cons: Personal Space, Boisterous, Overprotective, Pushy, Fynta

Pros:

Cuddles. Cormac is big, and he’s got a lot of muscle, but the man knows how to convert himself into the perfect pillow for any head that needs one.

Loyalty. Cormac is loyal in his own way. In his youth he had trouble sticking to a single lady friend, but is unshakable in his marriage. Nothing can come between Cormac and his friends.

Laughter. He’s got the kind of, room shaking, boisterous laughter that draws everyone in. Cormac lives to find enjoyment with life, and he never takes himself too seriously. The guffaw was created for this man.

Trust. Cormac quick to give trust, but he earns it too. He loves gossip, but will never betray a friend. Life is about sharing your stories, but only the ones that won’t harm others through negligence or malicious intent.

Self-esteem. Not only is Cormac a complete peacock who takes care of his body, but he wants everyone else to be too. Cormac appreciates the double takes afforded by his height and muscles. He also never fails to point out every good trait in his partner. They will never doubt their worth so long as he has a say in it.

Cons:

Personal Space. Setting aside the fact that Cormac literally fills a room, he’s a cuddler by nature. He’ll grudgingly give space when it’s requested, but otherwise he’s going to be playing with hair, brushing his fingers across exposed skin, or sitting on top of someone while watching a holoflick. Cormac is a cat, your space is his space.

Jealousy. Generally speaking, Cormac isn’t overly jealous. He knows he’s a studly guy, and has zero problems with self esteem. However, he does watch Balkar closer whenever he’s around Elara. No man should be that suave, it’s just not right. 

Boisterous. Cormac is loud. His voice booms, his footsteps are heavy, he snores... that last fact he denies, but Elara has considered smothering him with a pillow in the middle of the night. Everything about the man is big.

Overprotective. If Cormac sees someone screwing up their life, he’s going to step in whether they want his help or not. He’s stood aside too many times and said nothing, so now, he’ll risk even Jorgan’s claws if he thinks the man needs to hear a hard truth.

Fynta. Does this really require an explanation? She’s his best friend. She’ll crash date nights, eat all the food, and encourage bad behavior. Cormac won’t ever send her away. Luckily, Elara already considered the loud-mouthed Mandalorain a sister before they met, so it’s really a moot point...most of the time.

Well, it's the first over here already so I'm gonna start getting into OC-tober and nobody can stop me!

1 - introduction, classic 3/4 portrait. Naturally, my OC of choice is my best girl Ahuska, though I don't know how 'classic' this pic is, I'm really just doing a new pretty picture for her.

Anyone who wants to join in, the prompts I'm working off are here though there are a heap of prompt lists out there, and I'm definitely still going to be including a bunch of friends along the way!

Pros/Cons Dating Edition

Kotomi Nikuya

Pros: 

Fitness: Kotomi, by training and hobby, is incredibly athletic. Much of her time is singularly devoted to intense body training, particularly cardiovascular. You best be capable of keeping up with her.

Artistic Soul: While rarely shown, Kotomi is quite the hand at painting, and occasionally lets her artistic side slip into her romance. Whether it be small portrait sketches in the late-afternoon sun, or more sultry, lounging canvases, if she likes you, chances are she’ll draw you.

To the Nth Degree: To call Kotomi explosive is putting it lightly; her anger, passion, affection are all amped to the highest degree. While her exterior is gruff and brusque, she’s an all-or-nothing girl at heart. 

Beat ‘Em Up: Need a hand in a fight? Someone getting a bit too close and personal? You can bet Kotomi will be there when you need it. Fighting is as familiar to her as breathing.

Breathing Room: Kotomi is not wont to suffocate her partners with her attention. She lets them have their space, as long as she has hers. Clinginess deters her greatly, which often makes it seem like she can be distant or guarded from her relationships.

Support: As long as you’re not being stupid or unreasonable, she’ll support your choices and be there for you with them. If it comes down to it, her stubbornness will ensure that the choice made happens, consequences be damned.

Party On: Extroverted by nature, Kotomi is all for the hedonisitc, partying lifestyle, at least for awhile. This also bleeds into her need for adventure, to see and experience new things.

Confidence Is Attractive: Kotomi knows she’s good looking, and actively flaunts her looks with a confidence bordering arrogance. Well built, curved where it matters and a stunning chest and rear? What’s not to like.

Cons:

Emotional Wall: Good luck breaking down the decades of walls she’s built up around how she really feels. A self-isolationist, Kotomi often defers how she feels in favour of jokes or an ice-cold, dead end demeanour. 

Reckless, Forever: Stubborn and bullheaded are some of the nicer ways to describe Kotomi’s particular breed of recklessness. If she has her mind set on something, it will be done, and nothing will get in her way.

The Ties That Bind: Kotomi’s greatest flaw is her inability to trust. She considers relationships, in general, to be pointless and only exist to leave your heart open and vulnerable. Thus, she’s taken to polyamory, refusing to let herself be “tied down” (figuratively anyway).

Delinquent: While she’s left the titles and ganglife behind, she’s still nothing but a rash, crude delinquent at heart. Drugs, alcohol, smoking, casual sex and violence are all still embedded in her life, with seemingly no way of getting rid of them. 

Us vs Them: Xenophobia is still rife in her mind, particularly towards Ul’dahn’s, Ishgardians and Domans. Rarely vocalised in an upfront manner, it tends to seep into her mannerisms and opinions when dealing with certain races and creeds.

Short Fuse: Stemming from her ‘all-or-nothing’ nature, Kotomi’s anger is as equally as explosive as her passion. While it rarely gets physical with her partners, she can come across as overly aggressive and short tempered when annoyed; more than once someone’s attempted to roughly calm her down only to find a right hook to the jaw in response.

OC-tober 2 - Waking up. No secret that Ahuska's favourite way to wake up is alongside someone <3
