I ACTUALLY THOUGHT ABT THAT TOO AND IT MADE ME THINK. Me and my friend were discussing and theorizing Abt this, I DO THINK THEY WERE KIDS WHEN THEY MET. I searched up some info and a common belief in Icarus's tale is Icarus died as a kid (Like 11-12). I remember a dialogue scene where Icarus thanked Hecate for "saving him." What if Icarus died and met Mel at the same age as kids. My brain is like maybe Hecate did a spell or smth where he could age normally like a human but he was still a shade and not fully human.

Or another theory when Mel tried to make him human again and sacrificed her arm although it didn't work it made him be able to age normally !? THESE ARE JUST FUN THEORIES. I can't wait for supergiant to drop the lore on them!!!

Also the paralells between them both losing their father at a young age to forces out of their control!?!?! Icarus dying and never seeing his dad again and Mel losing her father cuz of chronos. I hope they both reunite with their dads 🥲!!
