Messy Campsite
Heyo! I was bored and although brain fog is killing me and fighting me so hard on proper writing right now (obligatory apology for any bad quality), I really wanted to write some SOD Trio! So!
(I wrote some sparring shenanigans but it didn't come out in a way I liked, so I gave writing another go and I liked this better. I'll give that other one a try someday.)
Disclaimer: I am not fluent in ASL or Spanish, I know barely there broken pieces of both.
Tw: Mention of a suppressed stim
   Techie scowled at the campsite.
It’s like they’ve never heard of an organized workspace.  Techie thought, her gaze crossing over bundles of granola wrappers and emptied cob salad containers weighed down with anything they could find nearby.
Unfortunately, at the moment, Hyper was off with Thyme to see if there was anyone else on the island, and they had decided to leave Techie behind to look after the campsite.  They had also left behind a mess!  So, this had landed on Techie to clean.
Techie exhaled slowly.  As much as she wanted to be mad at Hyper about it (and trust her, she was annoyed), she was almost grateful for it.  Cleaning gave her something to do, a way to control her space in an environment where she held so little control.  Control was important to Techie.  She needed it.
So, with a reluctant sigh, Techie got working.  She scanned the ground for any wrappers and picked them all up, leaving the paperweights scattered about where they were because as much as she was fascinated by cool rocks, they had bigger problems at the moment, and better uses of their time.
But they’re rocks from the past.  Surely one couldn’t hurt?
Techie sighed.  “And I’ve talked myself into it.” She muttered, scooping up a rock from the ground where the grays were sliced through with a faint orange like a flaming streak behind a shooting star, white bleeding across the rock like the moon’s reflection in a lake.  One thing was universal: rocks were beautiful everywhere.
After that, she stuffed all of the wrappers into a small empty Ziploc bag she found buried in the bottom of Thyme’s backpack.  Normally Techie would be more respectful about not touching other people’s things, but Thyme’s backpack had been designated the traveling pack due to being the biggest and having the most pre-packed stuff in there, so as far as she was concerned an empty, crumb-filled bag that looked like it hadn’t been touched in 5 months was fair game.  Then she went around to the containers and picked them and the lids and utensils left in them up, checking her mental map.  There was a running stream that ran over some rocks nearby, but was it left or right..?
Techie, silently thanking her Nana for being the reason she knew a majority of this stuff, pulled up a hologram screen on her tech watch and tapped for the map she was slowly building.  It was a little glitchy from having jumped through time, but she was slowly working and smoothing out all of the bugs and such on her tech.  Hyper and Thyme just thought Techie needed time to find out if the batteries were fried (yeah, it wasn’t the best lie, but it was one they had bought easy), so she had a little while still to smooth it all out before she was expected to be able to use it again.
Following the map, Techie cleaned out the dishes in the stream, got a drink of water for herself, and went back.  She closed the screen and turned off her tech-watch – she didn’t want to run the battery down after all – and piled them neatly away into a bigger container so they all sat in a nice stack.
Now – clothing.  Techie was far more use to the functions of a washer and dryer than handwashing anything, but how hard could it be?  They couldn’t just be left with dirty clothes, after all.
…But, still, maybe Techie would just fold those and set them next to the backpack just in case she accidentally left them with no clothes afterward.  Thyme seemed like the type of person to know how to clean those.  Or, if nothing else, they could all do it, and if the clothes got screwed up the blame would be divided evenly.
Finally, Hyper and Thyme came back as Techie was busy scrounging up things like their phones and tablets and other random stuff scattered across the ground to sort away.
“Yo, Tech!” Hyper called.  “Watcha doing?”
“Cleaning the mess you heathen left behind.” Techie said with a light hiss that they both knew held no venom.
“Oh, c’mon, it wasn’t that bad.” Hyper said.  “And besides, look at you!  It’s all bueno!  Looking good!”  She gave a couple of thumbs up.
Techie swore she remembered something about bueno meaning good, which made that wording flow weird if she thought about it in English, but at this point she’d learned not to question Hyper’s odd patterns of speech.  “Yeah, it only took me 2 hours.” She observed, handing Hyper their phone.  “We really shouldn’t leave expensive, potentially irreplaceable technology lying around to be stepped on.”
“Why would it be irreplaceable?” Hyper asked, carelessly spinning her phone around from the phone loop and apparently completely disregarding Techie’s warning.
“Because we’re in the middle of nowhere, fueled by nothing, and we have no clue when we’ll have a chance to get to a T-Mobile or Verizon in the middle of the ocean?” Techie said, energy buzzing uncomfortably under her skin as she pushed down the urge to flap her hands.
“Nah, it’s fine, I run on – um, what’s it called? – an iPhone.” Hyper said with a grin that said they knew exactly what they were doing, spinning around on their heel and continuing to spin it from the loop.
Techie gave them a flat look, then looked away.  “I’m confiscating your tablet.”
“Oh, what?” Hyper complained.  “No bueno!”
Techie signed back Yes good with which was only made more rewarding by the fact that Hyper didn’t know a smidge of ASL and could only give her a look through slitted eyes that were calculating how necessary Techie was to surviving this mission, and simultaneously plotting her murder no matter the odds.
Techie cracked a smile as she handed Thyme both her phone and tablet without hesitation (the latter of which was hugged close to her chest with a degree of importance Techie didn’t miss), which made Hyper’s look sink into a full-on glare.  She muttered something incomprehensible and turned away, bringing her phone up to her face.
Techie took the chance to lean in and whisper to Thyme. “Break these out of recklessness and I will personally drag your intestines out from your throat and throw them into the sea for the orcas.” Thyme squeaked softly and nodded quickly, clutching both pieces of technology closer with less importance now and more anxiety over the consequences of dropping them.
Suddenly, Hyper walked up, speaking so fast Techie barely processed the words.  “Techie es el más grosero y no me deja tener mi tableta. Ella es malvada y abusa de su poder como chica tecnológica y NO LO TOLERARÉ. Ahora me paro frente a ti y te desafío por mi tableta. Entrenamos al amanecer.” With a self-satisfied nod, she turned and walked away.
Techie and Thyme blinked blankly after her.  “…I don’t think they even know what they just said.” Techie muttered, running through exactly how much Spanish she’d heard Hyper use over their lives.
“Google Translate?” Thyme suggested softly, working her hair in her hands.
“…I don’t think I understood that enough for Google Translate to help me.” Techie admitted.
“No, I mean maybe they did.” Thyme clarified.
“Oh.  Maybe.” Techie nodded, biting her lip.  “Okay.  Well.  That’s.  Something.” She looked down at her reflection in the screen of Hyper’s tablet.  “I feel as though I’m going to regret this decision soon.” Thyme nodded in silent agreement.
Well.  They were stuck in the past, alone (most likely) on an island, so at the moment Techie had higher priorities than trying to accurately recall and translate a long rant in Spanish that Hyper doubtfully knew how to say before saying it, so Hyper could live without their tablet for the moment while Techie attended to far more business than Hyper seemed interested in dealing with.
I didn't know how to end this lol

Okay but it's super interesting how
Din = Power = Ganondorf
Naryu = Wisdom = Zelda
Farore = Courage = Link.
Because Din, in the hylian creation myth, created the physical world. Naryu then created the laws - gravity, time, etc. And Farore finally created life - plants and people.
Din created the body, naryu the mind, Farore the soul.
And the triforce and its wielders so perfectly reflect that.
Ganon is physical power, he is big and intimidating and he breaks things. He is cunning and determined, but that's not what he focuses on. He is might makes right.
Zelda is wisdom and cleverness. She is stall tactics and information and team work. She is a powerful mage with a spine of steel, but that's not how she'll win. She is the pen being mightier than the sword.
Link is courage and persistence. He is the wild card sneaking behind enemy ranks, always moving, plunging into terrifying situations head first. He's a phenomenal fighter with a keen wit, but that's not what will get him through his challenges. He is bravery not being the absence of fear but the triumph over it.
They sit in perfect parallels to each other.
And ganon is reborn through his body - his resurrection is immortality. No matter how low he is cast, as long as he has a body he can claw his way back. He can cling to his power, build it ever higher.
Zelda is reborn through the magic of her bloodline. It's the accumulated knowledge handed down for generations, the unique power she must master, the skills she must develop to survive and get her kingdom out the other side intact. Even her name, the knowledge of herself, is handed down from all the way from the very first. Her ancestors knowledge of her future presence, her stability, is what gives her the edge.
Link is reborn in spirit. He is not bound by flesh or blood. Just like his wanderlust soul he can reappear in any time or place. His variation, his unpredictability, is exactly how he fights. It's what makes him so hard to pin down.
Ganons need to build strength means he can't chase after link. Links impulsiveness means zelda can outwit him. Zeldas stationary predictability means she's an easy target for ganon.
But the other direction?
Fire melts ice, ice redirects lightning, lightning burns fire.
And that's the very essence of the triforce.
#It's little details spread across the games like this that just makes it work so WELL it's SO COOL#They're all great at all parts of the triforce but they CHOOSE to focus on the path most meaningful to them#And that's literally reflected in their unique cycles of reincarnation isn't that just AMAZING#And that's why the team up is so important! If they were all working against each other they'd be locked spinning their wheels#If zelda and ganon teamed up link would immediately die and if link and ganon teamed up zelda would instantly perish#It's the link zelda team up that means ganon is the one who kicks it#Also the elemental thing was cool but they do jump around a bit. Like wind is there half the time#In botk the gerudo have lightning and the goron have fire. Farosh still has lightning tho and dinraal fire#In ss lanaryu was the lightning and faron had water like its all over the place thematically. And that's when it's only 3!#Don't even get me started on the 5/7 lots notankyu#But that's the most common group and it's also thematically accurate#Fire being the only one able to self perpetuate with fuel. Can be banked up again. Ice compresses with time but needs the right environment#Lightning go boom 👍 you can feel the static in the air but you don't know when/where it'll strike and then it's all over#Like fr it's hilarious zelda and ganon are playing the long game and link runs past eats all the pieces and while ganons yelling after him#Zelda checkmates his king. And nobody can prove she wasn't cheating because nobody was looking lmao#Ah the duality of metaphors#ANYWAY isn't that so neat???#Reason no.372 why rhoam was a terrible king he didn't just screw up he did it ✨thematically✨#If link had been allowed to run off and get dirty and if zelda was allowed to study her interest (like post kingdom fall FOR EXAMPLE)#They'd have won (like aoc) but nooooooo. I've already made a post (or 3) about it lmao I'll be quiet now#loz#legend of zelda#botw#triforce#loz link#the legend of zelda#zelda#loz botw#ganondorf#loz ganon

I said this already in my main review, but it deserves its own post. Captain Jack Harkness would be so mad that his carbon copy got to snog the Doctor like that and he didn't.

i don't think people in the fandom talk enough about how stupidly traumatising the abduction and the whole nautiloid thing must've been for Tav... or, really, any of the characters that were there. like i don't think its even ever addressed in the game, at least to my knowledge? so have this soft Raphael thingie, comfort for the nightmares.
------
Tav tossed and turned, bedsheets a mess below their stiffened limbs as heavy breaths escaped their throat. How long have it been? Months, years, maybe even a decade at this point? In dreams time is as elusive as a sea snake, just as slippery.
They relive it more often than they'd like to admit, but who wouldn't? The nautiloid was a nightmare. The scent of burning flesh, the slime on their hands mixing with blood, the faintest wriggling somewhere above their right eye.
Everything is unfamiliar, and they feel like a cornered animal. The painfully quick way their heart started to race and thud against their ribs, the blur in their vision as they looked out into the broken crimson wasteland that is Avernus. The cold realisation.
They taste the iron on their tongue, and the edges of their peripheral are soft and way too bright as they stumble their way out of the room, past the corpses and the tadpole sludge. They barely remember the gith woman's face, barely remember the trapped girl in one of the pods - have they saved her or not? Have they even got out?
Perhaps they got there too late, the dragon took the last strike and the vessel fell to the ground like a bird with an arrow through it's throat... perhaps it didn't. Did the ship fell into the depths of Hell, or has it fell onto the shore? Were they surrounded by imps and devils, or by goblins and the gnolls? Have they even made it out at all?
It wriggles somewhere underneath the surface, biting into the soft flesh, taking out chunks until it gets to the main course. Their brain is succulent, a perfect meal, a perfect nest. It's slimy tail wags with excitement as it crawls and crawls and crawls and crawls to the depths they never knew they had, bites into tissue they never felt before, and crawls once more.
They feel the skin of their face break and fall apart, they feel the bone of their jaw crack under the pressure of the tendrils as their body splits open, and its nothing but blood and gore and slime.
There is heat somewhere on their back, hellish heat, and Tav tenses as they try to get away even as their limbs won't listen. From the nautiloid, from the ash and the sulfur, from the war-torn land below as the vessel continues to fall.
They arrived too late to the helm, the illithid laid dead at the hellspawn's feet as it moved to take hold of them, and the heat got so much worse, surrounding, suffocating, they scream as the cambion grabs them, as they are pushed down into the ground, as the flaming sword comes closer to their rigid body and...
"Calm yourself," a familiar voice hisses somewhere at the back of their mind, and they snap awake, gasping for air as though they are a fish learning to breathe out of water. There is heat all around, including on their cheeks, trails of tears so hot they're convinced they will soon start to sizzle. But they stop thrashing about, their vision slowly coming back to sharp and clear as they open their eyes.
Raphael doesn't look pleased in the slightest. He looks irritated, face scrunched up in a scowl, his hair a mess as he holds them down, warmth prominent where his fingers almost bruise into their shoulders, where his claws leave faint marks. He's not particularly sorry about either of those.
"Quite done? Good," the devil chides, his voice hoarse and heavy with slumber as he holds them for a moment longer, and only then lays back down on his side of the bed, tail thumping against the mattress in annoyance. "One more stunt like this and I shall have you sleep on the floors of the dungeon instead," Raphael quips as he rubs his side, where Tav accidentally kicked him in their sleep, and from what it looks like, the kick was a critical success.
They look into the ceiling as they still lay there, cold sweat running down their forehead and slicking up the palms of their hands as their brain settles on one simple truth: it is over. It was over. Its been over for a while.
Nothing writhes behind their eye no longer, and the surrounding heat, although hellish... is familiar. Is comforting. Is his.
Raphael lets out a brief 'oof' as he is pulled almost painfully closer to the mortal, their arms tight around his body as Tav buries their nose in the crook of his neck, frantically breathing in the fading, faint smell of cherries. For them it's grounding, for the cambion not so much.
"Do refrain from testing my patience, mouse," he hisses through gritted teeth, but his voice carries less threat than he so obviously wants it to, instead being full of simple mortal exhaustion. But when they refuse to remove themselves from him, Raphael scoffs, relenting. They are lucky, right now anyhow.
The devil settles against them, hands coming down around their waist as he pulls them into a curled up embrace, his wings covering them like a crimson blanket. Raphael rests his cheek just above Tav's head, his nose against the pillow as he hears their breathing slowly start to even out and shuts his eyes.
Silence and darkness hangs over the two in a comfortable heavy weight, pressing down onto their bodies as the devil's heat renders Tav soft and numb, but they are far from sleepy now. They sigh into his throat, feeling the slightest stubble of his chin scratch ever so slightly against their forehead.
They don't want to close their eyes. That faint writhing and wriggling, it lingers somewhere in the depths of their subconsciousness, waiting in deceitful obedience. Tav spends what feels like an eternity just laying there, breathing in the cambion's scent.
"I dreamt of it," they whisper into his skin, and are surprised just how strained their voice sounds at that moment. Only then they realise the tears are still running down their cheeks, pooling onto the fabric of the pillow underneath and onto Raphael's neck. "Again... it's all of that again."
The noise in their ears subsides and they can hear their sobbing, and his breathing. Their eyes begin to sting as they try to calm down, but it makes the matters worse, their own breathing turning into sharp inhales once again, and as they breathe out it sounds like a quiet whimper everytime.
Tav tries to speak, but their words end up slurring together into an incoherent, quiet mess so much so even they themself don't understand what they wanted to say. They grip tight onto the devil's body, fingers finding the familiar ridges on his back, almost using them to cling onto sanity.
Raphael brings them close, his touch firm as he rests one hand against their cheek, brushing his thumb against the tear-stained redness of their skin. He sighs as he presses his own face against theirs, his breath hot.
"Quiet now, mouse," he lets out in a humm, his tone - a stone wall, cold, but just what a tired soul needs to lean on, and so they do. The claws against their scalp feels comforting as he brushes a lock of their hair behind their ear. "Don't mull over business long concluded, its unproductive."
They sniffle, and he grumbles in irritation and the want to go back to sleep.
"Not even the baldurians talk of it by now and yet your mind persists," Raphael scoffs, settling firmer against them as he hooks his leg over their own, practically trapping them in a haze of heat and crimson red. They welcome the pressure even when they feel the air leave their lungs from the sheer weight of the cambion.
So soft... it's not the first time Tav touches him like this, no, but the softness of his body surprises them everytime. They almost want to squeeze his thigh, affectionately. Perhaps another time.
He sighs against their face as he feels them calm in his arms, and lets his tail circle over their ankle, making it certain they cannot leave... or accidentally kick him again.
"Whoever touches you is sure to burn, little mouse. Now calm yourself," Raphael murmurs, closing his eyes, and only after a long moment of staring at his face does Tav, too, closes theirs.
"It's quite enough for you. Sleep."

Can I request Rudy (maybe AleRudy poly??? You decide lolz) x a female ( you can choose not to write this as I know you write mostly gender neutral) reader who proves The Whole toxic masculinity thing wrong as a strong (physically and mentally) independent woman? Like she is strong and can defend herself and she does things that most men thinks she can’t do? (Like carrying heavy things, etc.)
Thank you!!
Hello! This is more Rodolfo centric, which I hope you don't mind! But Alejandro is there too, of course :>
AleRudy with a Strong!Independent!Fem!S/O
Alejandro would have a field day with you, Rodolfo would still be a little bit concerned. Though, that is not to say he wouldn’t like it. I think you’d be a certain kind of awakening for him, especially if you’re pretty muscular too. Rodolfo would have never thought he’d find a muscular woman this hot, but here we are. Both Alejandro and Rodolfo would sometimes have conversations about you when you’re at work. Alejandro would know just how capable you are and would allow you to do just about anything, even if he would offer you his help. Nothing wrong with helping your lovely girlfriend lift some heavy things as it gets done a bit faster that way. Rodolfo wouldn’t believe you to be weak, not in the slightest. Especially not with your kind of personality and body, but he’d still insist on him doing some of the things at first, such as carrying heavy things or scaring away some sleazebags. He’ll tell you a little bit about how he views the world, how he’s supposed to be the one protecting you, but when you just laugh and tell him that you can handle yourself, he actually gets kind of embarrassed. At some point he’ll realize that yes, indeed you can handle yourself in just about any situation life throws at you, but that doesn’t mean he won’t voice his concerns. Picking him up is actually kind of fun, he’ll go completely quiet and hold onto your shoulders for dear life. At first he’d feel kind of bad, he’s the one who’s supposed to pick you up. But, as mentioned previously, you being this strong actually does things to him. It would take a while, but he’d come to trust you more and more with some things that he thought women shouldn’t really be doing. If you work a men dominated job too, then Rodolfo will just shut up, actually. You’re a mechanic? He doesn’t know jack shit about cars. You’re an IT-technician? Computers hate this man, he always needs help since some error comes up. Once the initial embarrassment is over, he won’t hesitate to come to you for help. It’s for the best you work on this since he has no clue what he’s doing in those fields anyway.
Alejandro is super chill with you being strong and independent. Sure, sometimes he’d love to just watch a scary movie with you and have you cling to him in fear, but you carrying those big tires is also pretty nice. He always thought he’d be more into a shy and timid girl, but you’re actually pretty nice too. He wouldn’t fuss over you as much as Rodolfo, he’d just let you do your thing. If you need help, he’ll help, but he won’t be overbearing. Besides, he could probably learn a lot of things from you. You’re an electrician? Awesome, amor! The GFCI just turned off again, could you do something about it? He’ll sometimes talk to Rodolfo about how he should put more trust into you. Just because you’re a girl doesn’t mean you can’t be a total badass and strong like them. Alejandro will also egg you on to pick Rodolfo up since he wants to see him flustered beyond comparison. He loves you both, but there’s just something so fun about a flustered Rodolfo.

A shambler summoning ritual was the easiest one to do in a short amount of time- and they were fortunately intimidating enough to stop the cultist's skip abduction ritual. Hooray! We love shamblers. I think the skeleton one is especially cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The few (three) cultists not beaten to a pulp by the shamblers were quickly dealt with by Mechi and his newly-constructed (and probably very poorly designed) killbox.

Testing new ways to recruit Minthara in Patch 6 - Part 2 (KO without being temporarily hostile)
The first part of this series taught me a lot about the changes to Minthara's recruitment conditions. I was fully expecting it to simply be easier to keep her temporarily hostile, but now that we know that any knock out condition will suffice
This means it's now possibly easier to recruit her than ever before.
For this next test I tried fighting her the old fashioned way, how lots of people may have done it and how I had hoped it would work from the start; talk to her at the goblin camp, reject her command to raid the grove, and knock her out as a result, regardless of whatever hostility level the game mechanics say.
Tumblr media
What sentence will always start a fight? - "Hey, wanna fight?"
Tumblr media
I even made sure they were able to hit the wardrum too, the bane of many an honor mode attempt at a Minthara recruitment.
Tumblr media
And look at that, it still worked!
Tumblr media
Also she didn't bug out this time, so inviting her to kill the guards together worked just fine.
One thing to note, if you do it her way of slaughtering your way out of the prison, you'll aggro the rest of the tower. You wanna sneak out the doors to the dock, and there's a path that will lead away from the tower. After returning to camp with Minthara and maybe even a long rest, the tower's aggro should reset.
Tumblr media
LMAOOO
I'm glad I finally get to witness this special pairing. Ultimatum? Never heard of her.
Tumblr media
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME HER CAMP CLOTHES GLITCHED OUT IN THE LEVEL UP SCREEN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also it wouldn't be a Baldur's Gate 3 patch that introduced new and innovative bugs to our favorite spicy elf. Apparently this is what she says in lieu of whatever appropriate narrative reaction should have triggered. Spoilering this out cause I don't wanna drop big spoiler bombs on unsuspecting people.
Anyway, that's it. I get the feeling I may not have to do any more testing than this. The previous methods of knocking her out should still work, the game has just extended that courtesy to any time she is knocked out.
I still think it would be cool if she disappeared after being reduced to 0 hp during the grove battle, like in the Daughter of Lolth mod which people used prior to all this. I dunno I feel no companion should be completely missable in this game. Although, this means the two people most likely to recruit Minthara without looking anything up are now both people playing an evil route, and those playing a pacifist good guy tav who always tries to knock enemies out instead of killing them. I look forward to the first time someone finds her at Moonrise Towers and it comes as a complete surprise. But I should wrap this up now.
Final Verdict: Recruiting Minthara by KOing her by initiating a fight via dialogue at the Goblin Camp - WORKS!
