Sorry this is kind of a heavier question, but. Religious/theistic Jews, how do you still believe in G-d? I desperately want to believe, but it's getting harder lately. My grandfather became an atheist when he saw what happened in the camps. My mother was religious until she started dating my dad, who apparently logic'd so hard he ruined religion for her. Most of my friends are atheists. It seems like I'm the only one that isn't, but I don't know. The idea that G-d has a plan is really comforting, but it seems impossible. How could He let all these things happen? I feel like G-d either doesn't exist, or He abandoned us. And yet, I still pray and thank Him and it feels so wrong to *not* do any Jewish rituals. Do any of you ever feel like this?

Actually the Great Commission is about generating a culture of love and care between diverse interconnected global communities not about colonizing and trying to convert groups because you think their way of life is somehow lesser unless they approach the Divine from a Christian lens

every time i see someone exclude, mock or ignore queer religious people's existence (whether from bigoted religious people or bigoted queer people) i think it should be perfectly acceptable for us to punch them in the face for that

Children don't need religion to develop good morals. I'd argue that certain religions get in the way of that because they encourage you to do things because a deity approves and it will lead to you having a good afterlife or whatever. And I don't know about you but I find that to be self-serving.
Not to mention, the fact that religion can advocate for immoral things.
Let's just teach children to be good just because.

This isn't, like, the biggest deal, but I do find it funny when people are almost... surprised or shocked that converts unironically believe in judaism and also unironically align themselves with jewishness. It's just something I've seen a small handful of times and it's like... of course I (and others!) unironically believe in this stuff. I'm not putting in this work because I don't have enough going on in my life

Christians: Why are Christians always attacked? The creators wouldn't have had the balls to do the same to Jews and Muslims!
All fucking pop culture:

Ever wondered about the devil? Well, there's not much to say about him, besides the fact that he wants all to perish, since he lost his chance of being God. The devil also poisons people with a twisted mind, making them fall for his lies, misleading them into the lake of fire and brimstone. He is madly at work here, wanting to avenge his fall from the Kingdom, wanting to hurt God out of spite by dragging His creation from the promise made for them. The devil is a liar, a deceiver, and a murderer. Why would anyone want to follow that monster? Jesus Christ is the One Who has true promises for all of us who repent, and that is eternal life. Hell itself is not a party everyone thinks it is; it is eternal damnation for the rebellious, where they are not supposed to be. Turn to Jesus Christ in repentance, follow Him through this circus of a world, and you will see how much it is worth it! Bless you in Jesus' Name! Amen.

Dude I'm pretty sure half of jumblr are atheists. I've never seen any posts here even implying that only christians can be atheists. Who the heck is telling you that???
@legendarycatlover Man you know I started to write something nice and thoughtful out about this before I just decided I'm done arguing with people about this after like 6 hours. You are literally the 17th person to argue with me about this today. Most of the people who have sent me messages have in fact literally been insisting that 100% no ifs and or buts about it Atheists are all culturally Christian and 4 blocked me when I said nope not true there are Jews who will rip your head off if you even mention anything spiritual around them, diversity of culture is amazing. There has been a very clear and overt effort since around 2015 in liberal/leftist circles to frame full throttled atheism as something that purely exists as a trauma response to cultural Christianity. People decided serious 100% no spiritual beliefs at all Atheism is #cringe as a backlash to the 2011 reddit "checkmate religious people" jerks, and we have never recovered from it. This is not at all particular to Jumblr but Jumblr is certainly not exempt from it at all. If this is so baffling to you maybe just search the terms atheism and jumblr and try to find some posts about atheism that don't mention cultural Christianity? Or just block me like I suggested in an earlier post because I'm really getting sick of this.
#gingerswagfreckles#many of the atheists you are referencing are in fact agnostic people who call themselves atheist#which is fine except for how many of them get super uncomfortable when it becomes clear that someone absolutely does not believe in god#or anything period the end#and start justifying this discomfort by talking about cultural Christianity#and how the Annoying Militant Atheists are all culturally Christian#which is false#of course this isn't everyone? jumblr has many full blown atheists who don't frame full blown atheism as a culturally Christian thing#but that doesnt change the fact that this extremely broad internet trend that has been around since about#2015 is just as present in jumblr as it is everywhere else#if you dont notice it maybe its because you dont read posts about atheism?#because it isnt important to you#but it is extremely important to me thanks#and like yeah few people will say gun to their heads that there are NO Jewish atheists but this is what is implied in how they talk about#atheism. and they do often overtly say that the ~annoying~ kind of atheists are only culturally Christian#which is not only also not true#but also their definition of the ~annoying~ atheism#ranges dependant on the person from just#actual atheist who wont pretend they might abstractly believe in god#to atheist who will aggressively mock anyone with any spiritual beliefs at all#but guess what. atheist jews can span that whoooool range#like i promise their are jewish atheists who are as militant as the most militant ex Christian atheists and denying this is just ridiculous

I'm a goy, and planning to write an intermarriage wedding fic, and the guy is an agnostic Jew (so he isn't religious). I wonder if it's still alright if the couple decides to go with a Jewish wedding, and whether if there are any differences from a traditional Jewish wedding.

I swear the last few culturally xtian atheists I’ve run into have been like
“All the Abrahamic faiths are bad”
“But while xtianity abused me I know real chill xtians & I prefer to judge individuals rather than the whole faith”
“Jews are violent, bloodthirsty, genocidal bigots tho. I read your fairy tales in your Torah. This is okay for me to say because I’m queer.”
//says nothing about Islam

My dad all year: fairly secular like the rest of us, doesn’t keep kosher, doesn’t really observe Shabbat, the occasional temple service.
My dad on Yom Kippur: *putting on a kippah* hello family yes I am fasting and don’t ask me money questions. I am now extremely devout for the next 24 hours
