Ω PJO MISC. DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: 💖AGLAEA “GLORY/SPLENDOR” ONE OF THE CHARITIES AND GODDESS OF BEAUTY, SPLENDOR, GLORY, AND ADORNMENT 💋 {WAVE 3.5}

Hey everyone! here's something I did for {WAVE 3.5} and what better else to follow after the Muses, why not the Charities/Graces? (Okay yeah, I planned it this way). Starting off with Algaea since I saw that Algaea has been popping up lately (looks at Honkai: Star Rail 👀) Anyways, thank for reading and hope you enjoy! You share many similar qualities with a child of Aphrodite, the point when you first appeared in Camp, people honestly believed you were a demigod of Aphrodite. When you were claimed by Algaia, it made sense when Algaia was considered the (second) wife of Hephaestus, either replacing Aphrodite or was another name of the goddess of Love and Beauty due to their similarities.

For simplicity's sake, you are pretty much like a child of Aphrodite but just slightly either off from them or not as extensive as Aphrodite.  There are also minor differences that could be said as specifics of the abilities and qualities that you share with a child of Aphrodite and vise-versa.

You have a similar power that relates to Charmspeaking of Charm Manipulation, where in the case as a child of Algaia, the charity of adornment and glory, you’re power in Charm Manipulation is best effective in emboldening people with positive affirmation and praise. You can make people feel better and have confidence in themselves with their traits, which gives them courage and keeps their heads held up high. So rather than say, charming someone, just like the Charities, they enhance and elevate aspects of individuals. It's very useful in giving your teammates a pep-talk and a pre-battle speech that lifts everyone's spirits as they fight for glory and victory. You are also attracted to and by the children of Nike and Ares for this reason.

The Muses are considered great friends of the Charities, and they often overlap each other in terms of realm. Out of the Muses, the children of Erato are the closest to the child of Aglaea, some mistaking you both as siblings/cousins.

You have a love of crafting, particularly fabric work. The charities helped create a robe for Aphrodite with their weaving. You are pretty good with weaving but you’re more interested in the yarn and threadwork, probably because Aglaea helped pass the yarn and thread to Aphrodite when she tried to outbeat Athena in weaving. If you like embroidery, knitting, or anything that involves thread as a main component, you’ve inherited that part from Algaia.

That said, you’re often found helping with alternation and creating clothes or fabric items that are used in camp. With a bit of spellword and handiwork, the camp t shirts have never been more better than ever. You’re also taking commissions and favours from everyone for pieces. The Aphrodite cabin are your main sponsors, the Hephaestus cabin are your close second, where you two often talk about your crafting works.

This is a bit of a long shot, but I can imagine once you get the flow of weaving and the whispers of the threads, you can pull and tug at them to make them weave however you want, which is useful for not only getting intricate weaving done but also in a fight like a puppeteer. 

You may also have inherited being a pseudo-messenger like a child of Hermes or Iris, as Aphrodite sent Aglaea as a messenger to Eros. So not only do you have graceful and beautiful footwork, you’re also faster than average. Though you’re not going to be venturing in the underworld and delivering messages. 

Speaking of messages, you become one of the sources for hot gossip. You know how people move their mouths while they move with their hands during weaving, needlework, and so forth? You’re often seen talking with someone and you’re often hear stories or news from someone, and sometimes, you can be found weaving words and tales into your fabric work, and when you give your weaves tales to a person, they are embolden by the clothes that contain the wisdom and emotions that it contains.

Your fingers were nervously threading itself with the ball of yarn you always keep in your pocket. It was a force of habit as you couldn’t keep your fingers to yourself, regardless if you were focused, bored, or anxious. If you didn’t have anything to keep your hands busy, you would start picking at the threads of your clothes or worse, your skin. 

It was only when an elderly woman decided if you were going to move your fingers, you might as well use them to knit. It was probably your grandmother or another elderly blood related relative perhaps, or simply an elder. Then again, it was a group of elderly women so it could be anyone. 

Thus here you were, already constructed a square of knitted thread with your bare fingers. You itched for your crochet hook or knitting needles, but you didn’t dare to move that much from the people surrounding you. 

“Well,” spoke up Piper as she looked at you, “I can say their power is like Charmspeaking but it's not as powerful as mine.”

“I wanna say it's on the same level as Drew’s, but it's definitely not as forceful as her’s, thank goddess” drawled Valentina as she tapped her chin. 

“So they could be a child of Aphrodite?” asked someone. 

“I guess…? But something doesn’t align” started Piper, “Not that I’m not against you being my half-sibling!” she said to you.

“Oh, its okay. You’re very nice and pleasant but something doesn’t seem right either to me” you explained with a reassuring smile. 

“Perhaps, though there are other love gods, Aphrodite’s children are often the ones with ability to charmspeak” pondered Chiron out loud. “However, there is one other possibility that bears a close resemblance to Aphrodite”

“There is?” asked Piper. 

Chiron nodded. “Although she is a minor goddess, she is often referenced alongside with Aphrodite and share many qualities. So if this child is her demigod child, it wouldn’t be a surprise to be mistaken as a child of Aphrodite” the centaur said. “Not to mention, their knitting work may be a hint.”

“What?” said Valentina as Piper looked at the hand knitting you were doing. She made a look of wonder at the patterns and shapes you had made with the ball of yarn you had, and that you had done that in a short amount of time with your fingers alone.

“Oh, that is so beautiful” commented Piper as your face flushed. 

“Oh thank you” you replied as you held it up for her, and everyone else to see. “Just a habit though.”

“Can I have a closer look?” asked Piper.

“Oh, yeah. Here. I haven’t tied the thread yet so careful with the ball of yarn” you said as you passed your work and the ball of yarn to Piper. 

The moment you passed the yarn to her, a glowing light appeared over your head which caused everyone to snap their heads up at and gasp. 

You looked up as well, and saw a floating sign.

“As I thought. It is determined. Aglaea. Glory. Splendour. Hail, child of one of the Charities.”

I feel like after a while, Dan Heng might eventually warm up to Aglaea and, if he encounters the Council of Elders (i.e. Elder Caenis) he’ll start looking out for her, because…you know…Dan Feng’s memories and his own experience with the Preceptors—

Aglaea isn't exactly blind. She is able to see with her golden threads, mostly just shapes without much real detail

She's able to see enough to get by and her fingers have memorized the simple act of weaving to the point she doesn't need her threads to show her

This does mean she is unable to read herself. She also doesn't see much color at all, if there's any color its very faint & mostly gray

Aglaea

Family - She loves being a mother, far more than she thought she would. Raising her daughters was a delight, and they are her pride and joy. She would certainly not be upset if she were to have more children, because building her own family is a joy she never expected but is glad she is now aware of.

Friendship - Her closest friend is probably Aphrodite. She serves her loyally, but the relationship is more of a friendship than anything else. She cherishes it greatly, which is why I hc that she asked for Aphrodite's blessing before she pursued anything with Hephaestus.

Romance - Funnily enough, Aglaea never actually gave much thought to finding love before she fell for Hephaestus. She was perfectly content doing her duties as one of Aphrodite's attendants. I think because so many marriages among the gods are strained, forced, or broken, she decided she could live without any kind of relationship. That isn't to say that she didn't have the occasional dalliance, but she never had or really craved anything serious until she met Heph. She does enjoy romantic gestures though, and a good love story does make her sigh dreamily.

Medusa

Family - Medusa has a pretty good relationship with her gorgon sisters and visited them often prior to her punishment. She felt sad they were unable to mingle with others as she did, and her awareness of their hardships is what made her own transformation so difficult for her. After her transformation, I HC they still visit her from time to time and try to comfort her.

Friendship - While she received attention from plenty of admirers with a sexual or romantic interest in her, I feel like Medusa did struggle to make friends with people, as despite her beauty she still was something inhuman, and so always felt a bit of a barrier between herself and humans. I feel like she had acquaintances more than anything. And of course, post transformation, any chances of friendship with people died.

Romance - Medusa did dream of romance as a young girl, however, she gave up the notion when she dedicated herself to Athena. Her love for the goddess outshone any advances she received, and she knew even if she fell in love, most would be put off by her vow that wouldn't allow for copulation. Poseidon was the only one who made her think about romance again, and in the end she couldn't resist the pull she felt towards him.

Amphitrite

Family - One would think that having so many siblings would be hard, but Amphitrite loves each and every one of them in her own way, though I think she's closest to Thetis and spends the most time with her. She'd never admit to having a favourite sister, though.

Friendship - I like to think she's good friends with her fellow Queens, happily spending time with both Hera and Persephone when she can. They probably have a great time gossiping about the happenings in their respective kingdoms, as well as confiding in and supporting each other when things get tough.

Romance - Amphi had a very idealistic view of romance when she was young and wanted something much like what her parents have. It was part of the reason she fled upon being betrothed to Poseidon, upset that she wasn't getting the romance she'd dreamt of and was instead to marry a god she'd never met. Initially I think she was quite cold in her marriage, but eventually she was won over, and she did fall for Poseidon in the end. Turns out she did get her romance, the order was just a little jumbled.

Pasithea

Family - She doesn't get to see her father as much after her marriage, but I think she gets on well with him and enjoys it when she gets to spend time with him. (Update) - She also spends time with Hera, though naturally she never spends time with them both at the same time, as their animosity upsets her. She wishes her birth father and adoptive mother would get on, but she knows it's unlikely to ever happen.

Friendship - She's great friends with the Maenads and sometimes roams with them if the mood strikes. What's better than roaming about with the girls and having wild parties?

Romance - Pasithea had a fair few relationships before her marriage, but none were ever particularly serious or led anywhere. She never really gave thought to falling in love beyond 'if it happens, it happens'. She was surprised when she was promised to Hypnos, but she was actually pretty chill with it, and once she got to know him, she tumbled quite surprisingly in love.

Minthe

Family - Minthe's only immediate family is her father, Cocytus, and she makes every effort to see him when she can. When they're together, it's easy to see where her gloomy personality comes from, so they actually get on pretty well because they understand one another. She loves her father, and truthfully, he's one of the only people she trusts implicitly.

Friendship - Minthe has no close friends, unless you count her father. That's it; that's the headcanon. She is... very lonely.

Romance - Before she met Hades, she had a rather naive view of love, and she assumed her love with Hades would last forever when they were together. After her punishment, that view became tainted, and she now is more guarded with her heart. She still yearns for love, but her already low confidence got knocked even lower after her punishment and separation from Hades, so she fears she will never have it. Especially because she still has some lingering feelings for Hades, making it hard for her to move on.

Welcome to my headcanons. What do y'all think about Aglaea being Veritas' older sister, that's all I can think about rn tbh, I see Amphoerus as one big family

I spent the whole day working on commissions, so to unwind, I did what I do best. Realistic-ish face headcanons and redesigns for anime characters LMAO

I've been playing through Amphoreus slowly but surely and it's been a fun ride, although some things are..... truly, just your typical hoyoverse grievances.

Have these little guys.

Running and open water are often described as "dark as wine" or "black" in ancient greek texts. That is why I decided to make Castorice's hair long and black, flowing, like a river. A reference to River Styx if you will. She still dyes the ends purple and keeps her make-up light despite the obvious rot creeping up her neck— she wants to be lively and beautiful, you see.

Hyacine in my mind is a warrior cleric of Aquila. Her headpiece is a reference to the winged victory of Samothrace. I placed Athena's owl on her earrings and brooch, kind of like what some drachmas look like. Her hair is made to be flowy and white in the ends, kind of like a cloud. She's knowledgeable, she's a warrior, and she's a little bird.

Aglaea and Anaxa are from the same generation in my mind and both of them are older than most of the rest. They look the part. Anaxagoras is a cynical little recluse with fragile health and a sickly constitution, that spends his days holed up in the Grove. My man hasn't seen the sun in years.

Aglaea is beautiful and regal and the age only makes her be even more so.

I have an idea to share with you, about the Charites/Graces having a demigod.

Aglaea’s demigod: the demigod of Aglaea is at first mistaken as a child of Aphrodite. They are a fashionista and are willing to help plan out outfits for others. Their personality is bright and joyous but at times they act snobbish.

Euphrosyne’s demigod: the demigod of Euphrosyne is an absolute joy to be around and is camp half-blood’s own pinkie pie (MLP).  They are very light-hearted and enthusiastic. They are always willing to try to bring a smile to their friend’s face when the friend is sad.

Thalia’s demigod: the demigod of Thalia is a great event planner and the life of the party. They love baking and cooking and often holds dinner parties or tea parties with friends. They are sweet and lively.

(Now, if the child of Thalia the muse and the child of Thalia the Charity/Grace be in camp at the same time this would cause chaos in camp and give Thalia the huntress of Artemis a headache.)

Alright now i can answer this ask since I replied to the one today. Those are just the Three popularized Charities and they're rather vague in terms of domain or what they represent, so fun times ahead!

I'm honestly considering thinking of actually writing Demigod HCs for the Muses and Charities at this rate though. Cause like the idea had been bouncing in my head for a while like the DVD screensaver while I was working on other stuff, but the latest ask about the Muses and Charities are probably a sign from Apollo, Dionysus, Athena the Charities, and Muses for me to start writing on this.

Do you have any Hephaestus and Aglaea headcanons? I really like them but there’s not much in the myths

Aglaea is referred to as the dressmaker & a seamstress, how the clothing she makes is heavily sought after even if its the pieces that she sees as "imperfect", even the fact that the garmentmakers exist and work with/for Aglaea

Amphoreus is very clearly a world inspired by ancient Greece & it was less about the actual construction of the garments and more about process and act of weaving the fabric. For the most part there wasn't much sewing, the fabric would be cut to length and folded and held in place by brooches/pins and even belts.

Women would have looms in the household and would weave the fabric for the household and sometimes it could be sold. They would weave fabric to be used as clothing or tapestries for decorations, funeral items, etc etc

Weaving (& spinning) were so important that many goddesses and other female mythos characters are described as weavers/spinners. The most notable being Athena (goddess of weaving), the Fates (who spin the threads of fate), Arachne (turned into a sp!der by Athena), Penelope would spend her days weaving and undo the work she had done each night to avoid choosing a new husband. Even Helen is said to have been weaving a tapestry depicting the Trojan War in "dazzling colors"

Of course Amphoreus isn't 1:1 ancient Greece & the clothing we see the characters in is more complex than something folded and pinned in place, especially with the Chrysos Heirs, so it makes sense that Aglaea is (at least for now, who knows whatll happen in the following updates) called the dressmaker/seamstress rather than mentions about weaving

When you interact with Aglaea, there will be mentions about her weaving. The tools one would use (outside of the loom but that's also v important), characters may find her actively weaving fabric to be turned to clothing or perhaps the literal works of art she is weaving

The tapestries she weaves typically will tell stories of the titans & Chrysos Heirs. Expect to be seeing her working diligently at her loom, weaving scenes of the battle with Nikador and (if he returns as the demigod of strife) Phainon taking the coreflame.

Headcanoning that in modern day, Aglaea has a handful of sphinx cats. She breeds them and always keeps at least one kitten, which can be traced back to the very first sphinx cat she owned.

She spoils them rotten, and she loves dressing them up and giving them cute cat accessories. Probably some of the most pampered felines in the world.

Hey saw your post about the muses. What’s your opinion on the graces & their demigod kids?

I’m going to speak rather generally because if I can’t go into specific details since that would be really too long and some stuff can change depending on which Charities their godly parent is.

The Graces of the Charities are just as important as the Muses, and I find them in the same realm as they are; it’s just the Muses are more relatable with how far their range is and how easily it is to associate with. They’re just also harder to get into because while there are three known Graces, there is technically more than three of them? But at the same time, a lot of them could be said to be the same individual but just different epithets? Aspects? 

As for their demigod children, I would say they’re alright and just as fine. Down to the logistics of them being in the PJO universe, I want to say their power and danger can be high but they’re usually not; so on a leveling scale of 1-10, they’re like between 3 to 5 on average; for context, they’re just as dangerous on average as a child of Iris to child of Aphrodite/ Demeter. They have the potential to be very powerful and dangerous, and subsequently attract monsters, but they’re usually very less turbulent than say a child of Ares or Apollo on threat level. 

In general, they’re rather fun to be around with and you’ll see them hanging out around each other or with other demigods that correspond to their godly parents’ domain.

For example, the child of Aglaea (Shining) hanging around with either the children of Apollo, Euphrosyne (Joy) with Iris or Dionysus, and Thalia (Blooming) with Demeter. Though they’ll all usually hang with a child or children of Aphrodite as the Graces also tend to Aphrodite as her attendants. 

I wanna say they also respond to Mr. D more because they have a relation or connection with Dionysus in terms of realm because the Charities preside over pleasures of life, which include play and in turn theatre. 

What’s going to be hilarious though, if the children of the Muses are also there, there’s going to be further shennegians and confusion when a child of the Graces appears, and is the child of the Grace Thalia (Blooming) and everyone is going to be confused because there’s already a child of Thalia of the Muses of Comedy, and now there’s a child of Thalia of the Graces of Blooming. Thalia being further exasperated at this confusion, because the campers are going to unknowingly differentiate the Muse and Grace Thalia by saying “The Muse Thalia” and The Grace Thalia” to “Thalia Muse” and “Thalia Grace”... which is a problem when Thalia Grace, the semi/quasi-immortal demigod daughter of Zeus appears in Camp.

i was thinking of what her persona could be and Aurora or eos but now im rethinking for aglaea

I HAVE ACTUALLY BRAINSTORMED ABOUT THIS A FEW TIMES .. . but if we are going down the route that s/o and joker will save akechi/prevent his fate, i honestly like the idea that s/o's persona would be sigyn. i don't know if this is a popular headcanon, but i have read a few fics that has this idea.

in norse mythology, sigyn is loki's wife. loki was found guilty for the murder of the beloved god balder, and as punishment skadi sent him away to a cave while bound to some stone slabs. she also put a poisonous snake above loki's head, which will drip venom and hurt him when it falls on his face. sigyn, being a faithful wife, holds a bowl over loki's head to prevent him from being hurt.

not to be that person but i genuinely believe akechi didn't die T_T because what was the point of the final scene of royal ending if he did!!!!!!!!!! if you guys want my thoughts on this feel free to send an ask <3

but i like the idea that akechi and s/o somehow mirror eachother's thief getup, and this especially makes sense if they have a lot of history with each other. (maybe s/o was a childhood friend, or akechi's first ever friend at work).
