(just a little teaser from the first chapter of my new fic :))

Trixie Mattel was the top figure skater in the United States, known for her perfect blend of beauty and talent. She glided effortlessly across the ice, her movements smooth and precise, captivating audiences with each spin and jump. Her triple axel was legendary—she’d been the first American skater to land it perfectly, and each competition only solidified her reputation as a graceful, disciplined performer. Trixie embodied the ideal of elegance and precision, making her country proud with every flawless routine. But her dedication to perfection came at a cost; she was a skater who knew the sacrifices it took to be at the top.

Katya Zamolodchikova, Russia’s best, was a stark contrast. Where Trixie was all finesse, Katya had a raw, untamed edge that made her routines thrilling to watch. Her performances weren’t traditionally beautiful, but her technical prowess was unmatched. Katya was infamous for attempting risky stunts—moves she hadn’t fully mastered but executed anyway, defying reason and gravity. Nine out of ten times, she landed them perfectly, earning gasps of awe from the crowd. But that one miss had cost her dearly: she’d stumbled during a complicated jump, her hand slicing against her skate’s blade in a brutal fall that many believed would end her career. Yet Katya had pushed through the injury, returning to the ice with even more ferocity, her hunger for greatness driving her forward.

Now, as Olympic season approached, both skaters felt the immense pressure of representing their countries. The competition had become more than just a contest—it was a showdown. Everyone in the skating world knew it would come down to Trixie and Katya, the American elegance versus the Russian daring. And with the Olympics being held in Katya’s home country, Trixie felt the weight of the challenge even more intensely.

Katya turned, catching the look on Trixie’s face, and a glimmer of amusement lit her eyes. She skated closer, wiping sweat from her brow, smirking. “You ready for this, Barbie?” she taunted, her Russian accent thick, her voice laced with playful malice.

Trixie’s expression hardened, though the insult stung. “Call me that again, and we’ll see how ready I am,” she shot back, her voice icy.
