September 16, 2008 (Tuesday)

Tuesday was probably Neil’s favorite day of the week. He only had two classes in the morning and both were lectures that he didn’t mind sitting in. After his lectures he always went to the small coffee shop that didn’t even serve good coffee, but it was cheap and it was routine. Routines helped and kept him focused. Besides, the coffee shop was the only one that hadn’t tried to demand proof of papers for his service dog. One would think that the prostetic leg would be proof enough but Neil clearly over estimated the mental capacity of most people. 

Armed with subpar coffee and a warm bagel, Neil made his way to the library. The main floor was a communal hub, no volume limits and plenty of chairs and couches for people to sit on. Tucked on the left side was an open room full of tables, the tutoring center. The woman behind the desk smiled as Neil walked up and wrote down his arrival in a notebook. Neil enjoyed tutoring oddly enough, he didn’t like the people persay, but he enjoyed the subjects and the feeling of someone understanding a difficult concept was hard to beat.

One minute, Jean had been given at least a dozen plush toys for Etienne to play with, and the next he'd watched her place them all along the edges of her bed and lay on top of them. He wasn't sure what to make of the situation, other than that she seemed to enjoy the toys. She simply didn't enjoy them like a typical dog would. 

It all started when he got a stuffed elephant from Camille and Amélie. Etienne had carried it everywhere with her for a month, including on walks, and was sure to show it off to everyone who went by.

“Where’s Albert?” Jean asked her, and without fail, Etienne dropped Albert the stuffed Elephant into his open palm. Time, and dog slobber, had not been kind to the poor elephant, and many parts of his motley body were the result of patchwork Jean had done to keep the elephant whole.

“I should…have been more clear when we talked about this earlier and agreed to talking during this. I liked all of the talk about how I felt, what you were going to do, what you wanted to do, and what you were going to do. I…don’t want you to degrade me when we’re together like that.” He watches as Neil wraps his arms around his middle as if to try and comfort himself.

Andrew feels like Neil has just said something in a completely new foreign language.

“Neil, what did I say that you took as me degrading you?” Andrew asks because he can’t think of a single degrading comment he’s made when they got started.

WIP Wednesday (3/5) | Arsonist Neil / Firefighter Andrew AU (Part 286)

"Yeah, yeah. The Kev picture. That was from you, this is from us. Besides, this is a reason for you two to meet up again." Jeremy says with a wink that would've reduced Andrew into a puddle if he were anyone else. (Or at least, a younger version of himself.)

"Feeling devious today are we?"

"A little." Jeremy grins. But Kevin is unmoved.

"I already did my part," he says, passing the card back to Jeremy who sticks his bottom lip out at him. After a couple minutes of prodding, he folds like a lawn chair and slaps his signature— eight letters, no more and no less— right under Jeremy's with a huff. "Fine, there."

"What have they done to ruffle you this time, mon tresor?" Jean says when he enters to find Kevin pouting. He pushes his hand into Kevin's hair while Jeremy explains this new plan. By the time he's through, Kevin is almost melted into the couch under Jean's hand and Jean looks amused. "You are making us sign this card to get Andrew laid."

"No! Well, I mean. Maybe, I don't know. But Andrew is our friend and he likes this hot guy and that's a good enough reason, now sign." Jeremy says, thrusting the pen into Jean's hand. Instead of using the table like a civilized person, Jean signs it against Andrew's back.

"Moreau."

"I am nearly done, hold still." Jean chides. Then the pen is clicking and the card is right in front of Andrew's face. "There you are. Go forth and get laid, on us."

"Merci, I guess." Andrew glances down to see Jean's addition and it's... gibberish. It also has his name mixed up in it.

"Joyeux Noël. Soyez gentils avec Andrew, Jean Moreau #29"

"What did you write?" Andrew demands.

"None of your business. It is not meant for you," Jean brushes him off.

"Kevin, translate," Andrew says, putting it in front of Kevin. His green eyes cross the page and a smile crosses his face. Then Jeremy feels it's his duty to do the same, the same sappy smile on his lips.

"If Monsieur Flame needs help, he can use the Google." Jean tells him. Andrew throws a glare his way but Jean does not catch it, so Andrew merely tucks the card into his jacket, exchanges another round of goodbyes, and leaves.

WIP Wednesday 1/15/25 | Andreil 5+1 Competency Kink

Matt hears Andrew and Neil quietly speaking back and forth in quiet Russian in the locker room before he goes to shower. Their tones are subtly heated, almost sounding like they’re fighting. Matt pushes the thought aside, no need to get involved when they clearly don’t want anyone overhearing them. In the shower, Matt turns up the water as hot as he can stand it. The spray of hot water slowly loosens his sore muscles, washing his aches down the drain with the soap. By the time he finishes, there’s only one shower stall still occupied. When Matt exits the locker room he finds an annoyed trio waiting in the lounge with Dan. 

“Neil and Andrew taking a long time?” he asks.

Kevin doesn’t respond, just sighs loudly and crosses his arms. Aaron barely acknowledges him from where he’s sat presumably texting Katelyn on his phone. 

“They always take so long after a hard practice,” Nicky complains. “You’d think Neil worked us enough to want to go home as soon as possible, but no. He and Andrew always take forever.”

Matt’s starting to put two and two together now. The pair taking so long after practice, all the Russian in the locker room, the single occupied shower. He gets it. They’re fucking. Goddamn it. Allison was right.

Tutor Neil || WIP Wednesday 11/22/23

Neil flicked through the binder halfheartedly before handing it back. It was a welcomed surprise when a short man clad in all black walked in ahead of Matt. Matt waved with a large smile on his face, Neil easily returned the wave and smile before setting his attention on Andrew. Once again, the blond didn’t carry anything with him besides the scent of smoke. He wore no backpack and Neil doubted that he had a pencil in the pocket of his leather jacket.

(I need you to know that I saved your ask for the last one so you could get Andrew's appearance :) hehe)

Forks is… cold. The drive from the airport to Jeremy’s new home is wet and cloudy. As much as he searches for even the barest hint of light rays peeking through the cracks of a grey sky, he can find no such illusion to convince himself that the sun is there at all. As each torrential downpour wanes into a sprinkle and back again, Jeremy isn’t sure he’ll ever feel brave enough to drive himself in this state— he isn’t even sure he knows where the windshield wipers on his old car are. It rained so sporadically and lightly in Los Angeles, never lasting for more than thirty minutes, he simply hadn’t needed to ever use them.  Adi, for one, seems elated to be back in his hometown. He spends the whole drive pointing here and there to show Rhemann and Jeremy the haunts of his youth. His ear to ear smile and the adoring way Coach looks over at him gives Jeremy a tug in his chest. Ultimately, as much as he’d miss California— the heat—, he can’t bring himself to regret leaving. Rhemann was right, this could be a fresh start for him— and, boy, has he ever needed one.

Jean’s phone rang and he instinctively hissed and declined the call.

“Not now you imbecile.” Jean typed out fiercely.

“Why not?”

I’m not ready, I don’t want to do this, I’m scared you will see the hurt on my face.

Jean didn’t say any of that though, instead he swallowed his pride and called him back.

“Oh! We’re doing this now, okay,” Jeremy hustled over to Jean sitting next to him on the bed. Jean tried not to think too hard about the way the mattress dipped.

Ring… Jean takes a deep breath

Ring… Jeremy shifts next to him, if Jean was thinking anything other than dread he would think he was worried.

Ring… Goddammit Kevin just called him why isn’t he answering

Rin- Click.

Jean fumbled to prop up the phone on his bedside table, angling it to include both him and Jeremy in the frame. The other end of the call loads and-

Oh no. fuck no. Sitting next to Kevin Day, with a little too wide of a grin on his face, sits Neil Josten. Not that Jean minds Neil as a whole, he feels indebted to the man for more reasons than he can name. But Neil and Jeremy in the same call? At the same time as himself and Kevin? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Jean hopes the look on his face tells Neil to keep his mouth shut, and by the way his smile widens he can tell he got the message and is choosing to go against it.

10/9/24 WIP Wednesday (Closed) | TBD AU

Aaron grabs him by the shoulders and Andrew hates that his expression likely mirrors his brothers in this moment.

Desperation paints Aaron’s face.

“Yes you are! You were! You were happy - before!” Aaron insists, “You are meant to be happy because you were! You were so fucking happy before the accident Andrew. I didn’t understand it back then, I didn’t realize it but you were and I swear to God if you don’t give up you can be happy again.” his hands shake as they squeeze Andrew’s shoulders and there are tears falling from his brother’s face.

It always feels like the closest Andrew will ever get to being able to cry himself and the sight of Aaron crying always brings Andrew back from whatever ledge he had found himself staring down from.

“Aaron-”

“Josten’s a fucking liar and he’s stupid as hell because he definitely fucking likes you. Did he say that he doesn’t fucking like you? Actually say it?!” Aaron demands.

Andrew pauses.

“I’m sorry Andrew, I can’t accept your feelings.” it still hurts to even think about it but…

“He didn’t say that.” Andrew looks at his brother.

“What did he say?” Aaron demands.

“He said: ‘I’m sorry Andrew, I can’t accept your feelings.’ not that he doesn’t like me but-”

“Fucking Neil. Fuck him for real. This is why I can’t stand that guy, he’s such a constant pain in my fucking ass. I swear to God!” Aaron bitches mightily. “That asshole likes you Andrew, he likes you so much that he’s absolutely fucking stupid about it.” Andrew blinks, thrown off by his brother as his tears dry up from the heat of his anger. “You are going to be happy.” 

Andrew, for the life of him, feels threatened.
