QUEEN OF MOODS

      I’m prefacing this song review with a little bit about this specific style of Glam that I feel this particular musician was trying to evoke. I love Glam rock because it’s so theatrical. I feel like the Glam bands of yesteryear all played characters in a ongoing play performed in their minds. The inclusion of different sounds via classical instruments plays such a big part in glam rock in general and I feel few bands really embrace this approach. I’m not saying Glam HAS to have these elements of classical mysticism and theater to make it valid but some of the most amazing bodies of work have an of element of this. To emulate a theatrical stage presence aurally is so unique to me. Whether comical or a more dramatic approach to the genre, this song embodies it perfectly. 

Music Hall or what would be known as Vaudeville in America is a British theatrical form of entertainment that was prevalent in the Victorian era up until 1960. You’ve heard many bands and musicians both American and the UK (yes, I know musicians and other bands worldwide have this as well but I’m mainly speaking of these two). explore this sonically: the Kinks, Herman’s Hermits, Syd Barrett, Queen, Harry Nilsson, Jobriath, T. Rex, Sparks etc. I have found a song that has combined the perfect elements of this musical genre with Glam, Psychedelia and Pop. Without Further adieu I introduce you to Jeffrey Novak’s QUEEN OF MOODS.  Jeffrey Novak is a prolific Nashville based hitmaker who graced the world with his take on Glam ballads and pop on his first solo album AFTER THE BALL (this whole album is top shelf). I chose to review this song (which was really hard to pick from a chock full of hits) because of the type of scene it painted for me aurally as well as mentally. Hearing music like this completely helps my mind transcend from one point in time to another. I love this about music and particularly Glam. I find myself daydreaming most of the time thinking of alternate realities and what characters I will play in this massive stage of self- discovery/sabotage/love/ hate. When I listen to this song it brings to mind a playful obsessive type of character that you could imagine is on LSD. The keys on this are colorful, harsh, warm and cold. All of this madness happening while you have a sort of dry witted ringleader describing the character in the song.

I’m so happy this album was written and recorded. I HIGHLY encourage anyone reading this to seek out his other bands/albums. Enjoying the album as a WHOLE is highly encouraged. Hello! I've been thinking on joining the Duckverse RP community but I'm not sure how the community is... Can you tell me a bit of your experience??

(( AAHH!! Hello!! This Community is great omiosh, Everyone is very friendly and is more than happy to help a fella out, trust me, I would know. Thats just talking about the Duck Fandom in General, though, but from what I’ve been from the RP fandom, I can only say great things! A few great blogs to check out with be; 

@egotisticalhero / @Heresnegsy  (As well as KingoftheKlondike if they were bring Scrooge back) : ooohhhh my god, Fan-TASTIC portrayals on Em’s part! I love them to death, DW is the egotistical yet lovable jerk while Negs is still the sadistic guy you would probably not wanna run into in a dark alley. Their scrooge, I have to say, is down right awesome. Still a grump, yet a grump with a heart of gold. Probably literally, heh. The Mun is super sweet too!

@hotemperament : GOSH I LOVE THIS DONNY SO MUCH, He can go from having a tantrum to dad mode in three seconds, and seeing the shenanigans He and @jose-carioca Get into are so entertaining, omg. Both of the muns are sweethearts!!

@xhumbuugx : Though I haven’t personally interacted much mostlybecauseimveryshyattimeseventhoughIwouldloveto  STILL!! Their scrooge stands out against others, yet works really well! Their writing is so amazing, and their headcanons make alot of sense, they give alot of characterization to scrooge. It’s also really heartwarming to see some of the interactions between them and others, (( IE; @eviiltriiplet, @bolddeducktion, @briiightesthue, @blatheringblatherskite, All great btw Go check ‘em out!! ))

   Harsh winds howled their haunting songs throughout the night, snowing something awful. What a horrible night to be caught out! ... Which is unfortunately the situation Jem how found herself in. Well, maybe not exactly. She had hopped off a river boat and ended up being caught in the unforgivable weather. She hurried into town as best she could. She wasn’t used to the cold, her legs felt like they weren’t even there, like they refused to move, yet, she pressed on. 

   Jemima had never been here before, that just added onto her worry as she looked to see if any shop in the rows of businesses seemed to be open. One in particular caught her eye, what, with the warm colored windows. She set her eyes on that one and made a B line for it. 

   Bootsteps along with the sound of the doors slamming open and shut was likely the loudest sound in the empty Blackjack Ballroom. She then opened her eyes, looking about, brushing snow off of herself.  No one at the tables.. No one at the bar.. Looks like they were closed. Made sense at this time of night. Jem felt a bit guilty intruding, but puffed a sigh of relief. It was warm in here! ... She finally announced her presence, 

   “Howdy?”
