Playing With His Hair (Ethan)

“What are you doing?” Ethan asks in an icy tone, turning to look at you with an eyebrow raised.

You step back with an innocent smile plastered to your face. “Your hair always looks so soft, so I wanted to feel it for myself. I’m sorry if I bothered you.”

Ethan’s expression doesn’t change as he folds his arms primly across his chest. If it had been anyone else, he would’ve given them a few stern words to curb their shenanigans. But because it’s you he’s willing to make an exception. Frankly, Ethan doesn’t understand the appeal of his hair. The only reason why it’s soft is because he takes good care of himself. If he didn’t have any regard for his hygiene, both internal and external, his appearance would vary greatly.

“So you’re just interested in the texture?”

“Maybe.” Your arms are bent behind your back as you walk beside him. “Maybe not.”

“I’m assuming you want to play with my hair.”

“Yes, I want to play with your hair,” you confirm, nodding eagerly.

He sighs. What a childish activity. Yet, even as that thought crosses his mind, he can’t refuse you. How could he deny someone he holds so much respect for? If it means pleasing you, he’s willing to put at least an ounce of his pride away. Besides, he doesn’t have anything important to do, and it’s not as if being in your company is a bad thing. So he reluctantly sits down on the sofa in the common room, beckoning you to do the same. And you don’t need to be signaled twice. 

“If I would’ve known you were going to be so cooperative, I would’ve brought some barrettes and a brush.” That unamused frown twitches, which draws a laugh from you. “I’m just kidding. Don’t worry.”

The red-haired Reaper can only sit there in silence as he feels your fingers combing through his hair. After a while, it begins to feel somewhat soothing. You’re just braiding his locks and then untwisting them from the style. That’s nothing special. He knows it’s mainly your presence that pacifies the chip in his pride. You’re babbling away about a new hobby you’ve picked up, and Ethan listens intently. He never realized how nice it is to spend his time with you. Perhaps allowing you to play with his hair wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

Though he’s more than ready to pull away the moment one of the other Reapers walks in, as he’d rather not engage in a purposeless explanation. On the bright side, however, he’s not against letting you do this again. But he’ll have to be in an exceptional mood before that happens. Your kind expression and persuasive puppy dog eyes can’t fool him all the time.

Ethan: 

Ethan is the king of keeping an eye out for you and often acts before you have the chance to knock something over or trip, helping you keep your body clear of bruises and cuts that happen at your weakest moments. He tries to scold you and tell you to pay extra attention, to focus on what you’re doing without getting distracted, but that doesn’t always help. He’s quietly resigned himself to his fate of taking care of a clumsy person who he never wants to see hurt, working overtime on this job while ignoring the teasing of others who can tell he’s doing it out of the kindness of his heart (that they don’t always think he has). 

Nine: 

If Nine sees you doing anything that might get you hurt he urges you to stop, grabbing ahold of you before you fall on your face or calling out for someone else who’s closer to grab onto you before you get hurt. He seems exhausted by how easily you seem to tumble over but it’s all born from worry as he doesn’t want you to end up seriously hurting yourself because you weren’t paying attention or your balance was off. He tries to stay directly by your side whenever you’re in the same room together just in case he has to save you from making a mess of a poor inanimate object that couldn’t have possibly moved into your path. 

Theo: 

Being clumsy also meant you had a tendency to knock things over or not fix things as neatly as he would like, making Theo take on most of the work when it comes to cleaning up after you. He can’t hold it against you as he knows you’re not purposely clumsy but he wonders if there’s some way to help you help yourself so that chaos doesn’t follow you every time you walk in a room. He’ll go to ask you to do something for him but quickly realizes it’ll be better to do it himself but he’s quite proud of you whenever you handle a task without fumbling.

♡ ethan is a man of few words. His actions, speaking louder than anything he ever verbally said to you

♡ so any slight deviation in gestures, word usage, or even posture was the only way you could ever truly read him

♡ But before these coming days that grew.. Difficult. For some unknown reason you felt like he became distant, you could no longer understand him. His mannerisms are ones that you had never seen or been able to deduce before. 

♡ this plagued your thoughts for every day leading up to today, as he reverted to only interacting with you when necessary and keeping himself proper and straight, similar to when you first met him 

♡ you thought you had gotten him to feel comfortable around you, but not until today did you realize he was actually, very comfortable with you.

♡ Ethan has always been good at hiding his emotions. Of any kind, really. Especially romantic ones. 

♡ so when you find yourself walking down the halls one minute, to being swooped into an empty room in another, feeling his hot breath inches away from your face  surprise was an understatement. 

♡ as your eyes finally find the courage to move upwards to connect with the man who had dragged you in there, you're even more shocked to see how ethan looked.

♡ he looked hungry, slightly disheveled. his hair had been left down and the way he held himself screamed something you couldent quite place

♡ he was and always is the quiet type, never truly doing anything without it being told to him first. So this burst of dominance he portrayed was new.. But you didn't mind it

♡ once he locked eyes with you, you watched as his ravenous eyes dilute to something softer. Still filled with desire of course, but more so love. Want, even. 

♡ you stand in shock, your body and his having almost no room in between them after he grabbed you so harshly. But once he had noticed this he automatically backed up. Sternly, but soft nevertheless, apologizing for his crassness. 

♡ but as you looked at him, not answering to his apology but just staring, he began to move again. This time, in your direction. His back straightened and his usual demeanor at the forefront, he takes a glove covered hand to softly raise your chin 

♡ a soft look was painted on his face as he stared into your eyes, almost as if he was staring at a beautiful painting. With a quiet whisper, never breaking eye contact with you, requests a simple ¨may I?¨ 

♡ you knew what he was talking about of course, there wasn't much else to refer to, really. But internally god had you wanted this. You had been enchanted by his charm for so long you couldn't even remember a time where your days were not filled with thoughts of him. So at the implications of him reciprocating that to the point of.. This, was enough to send you into a whirlwind 

♡ though, through it all you were able to respond. A small ¨please¨ escaping your lips before he placed his on yours. Feel his soft skin graze yours as he continued.

♡ he wanted just a kiss, but after he had tasted you he knew that once wasn't enough, and no matter how much he tried to hold back he knew that this wasn't something he could let up on

♡ he held you closer, taking one hand around your waist to pull you in closer as the other stayed on your jaw, lightly lifting it to the perfect height to meet your lips 

♡ staying very gentle with you, he went deeper into you. Letting a soft moan leave his lips every time you let up for breath. He seemed obsessed with your taste, though again you didn't really mind it

Ethan:

Ethan is relatively decent at hiding his staring and he generally does his best to focus on the work at hand, but there are moments where even he slips up and finds himself openly watching you. He can’t help that he finds you to be beautiful and interesting to watch but he’ll always deny it when it’s pointed out by others, trying not to let the blush rise to his cheeks to show how guilty he was of it. He does it often enough that anyone who interacts with him knows how sweet on you he is but others are likely not to notice. 

Ghilley: 

🥰 How often do they stare lovingly at their s/o?

Ghilley is the master of staring at you without being caught, especially when he can enter a room with his silent footsteps causing no one to notice him. When you do catch him he simply sends you a mischievous smile that has your heart racing, knowing he didn’t really mind being caught as he made his feelings for you as clear as day. Ghilley always found himself staring at you lovingly, longingly, wishing it was time to retire back to your rooms that night so he could cuddle up with you. 

Verine:

Verine is very easily distracted by you and tries to brush off his staring habits by saying he spaces out from time to time, often devolving into a coughing fit as he tries to defend himself (and eventually attracts your attention as you’re worried about him). Even if Verine isn’t staring lovingly at you you’re almost constantly on his mind, with him thinking about the most mundane of things that others would probably find incredibly boring. As long as you didn’t mind his staring he wouldn’t crack down on the habit but if it made you nervous, he’d do his best to keep it together around you.

Ethan: 

Ethan thinks you’re attacking him at first and wonders what he did wrong for you to strike out against him like this, staring at you with an unwavering stare as he asks you what’s wrong. When you tell him you’re trying to see if he’s ticklish it clicks and he seems thoughtful for a moment before he sweeps you off your feet, knocking you back onto the couch and beginning to target the same spots on you that you had on him. This was what you had wanted, right? Then he’ll be sure to exceed your expectations. 

Licht: 

Licht isn’t surprised you’d cling to him so suddenly, laughing as you poked and prodded at his side, unable to hold himself back. He asks playfully if his laughter lifts your spirits, pulling you back when you try to leave the situation and beginning his retaliation. Perhaps you couldn’t admit how much you loved his laughed but he loved the look of joy on your face as you giggled incessantly, swatting at his hands but not really pushing him away as he tickled you. He feels like it was a genuine bonding moment and that there’s no one cuter than you. 

Sian: 

Sian is immediately mesmerized but how cute your laugh is when he strikes back, annoyed at first that you were tickling him like a child but realizing it wasn’t so bad if he could see you like this. He’s merciless with his own attack since you’d struck at him seemingly out the blue and he leaves you breathless, face heated as you begged for him to stop. When he finally does he tells you not to mess with him again since he knew all your weak spots now but you only give him a mischievous grin in return, knowing now that he’s incredibly ticklish (and you just had to work on your tactics before trying again).

Ethan: 

Ethan had finally found his opening.

It wasn’t that he had issues approaching you due to his feelings for you but that he felt like he need a purpose each time, and scrambling for reasons to talk with you could be difficult on certain days. He disliked feeling like a schoolboy who had his first crush but he was a man who cared about the impression he left on those he cared for and to look like a fool in front of you would be the worst thing he could think of. Attending this party had just been another means to an end, a way to get to talk with you while edging out the competition through pure intimidation. In his eyes, there were no other men suitable enough for you, none that would treat you the way you deserved to be treated, and he wouldn’t allow you to go through needless heartbreak.

But now his opening had arrived.

“Would you like to dance?” Ethan asked, working overtime to keep his tone even. He was once again plagued by nervous energy but he couldn’t help it, not realizing he’d have to deal with the hurdle of you looking absolutely ethereal tonight.

“I’d love to! But I’m afraid I might not be great at it…” You glanced out tentatively at the floor but he could tell you were bored, that you wanted to take him up on his offer just to say you at least had a little fun at the party.

“Follow my lead.” Ethan took your hands in his, a bold move on his part, giving them a reassuring squeeze as he led you to the dance floor.

He found a nice little corner where the two of you could have peace should you actually be a terrible dancer but he finds it’s just as he thought, you were simply being humble. You kept up with him quite well and adeptly followed his lead, looking at him with a shy smile while he tried to stop the blush from rising to his face. Being so close to you was akin to being in heaven, or at least that’s what he assumed with all the wonderful feelings he was filled with. At one point you’d placed his hand on your waist, telling him not to be so distant, to which he had to acquiesce; it wasn’t improper but touching your waist with his hand felt like an intimate action, one that was shared between couples and not those who were deemed just friends. But if anyone were to look at the two of you now what would they think? Would they assume it was just a friendly dance or would they see the two of you as a couple, even if it was untrue?

Ethan’s heart jumped at the thought.

To have you as his and his alone…

He uncharacteristically stumbled but luckily you were paying attention, catching him before you knocked into another dancing couple and shooting him an amused look.

“Maybe I should be the one leading,” You teased, and Ethan couldn’t believe he’d gotten so distracted by his thoughts he’d nearly embarrassed himself in front of you. “This is nice though. I never knew you were so good at dancing.”

“…You’re better than you give yourself credit for.”

“You think? Well, I still think there’s room for improvement… Would you mind dancing with me again?”

He hid his surprise well but he can’t help but give you one of his rare smiles, the one that he only ever seemed to bring out for you.

“I’d be honored to.”

Ethan doesn’t have a flowery term that he attaches to your relationship as he can’t think of anything that’s truly suitable, but saying you’re like the sun to him would be a fair enough comparison. Being around you fills him with a warmth he didn’t know he was capable of feeling, his own personal ray of sunshine that can pierce through even his cloudiest day. He thinks highly of you and enjoys your company greatly, perhaps more than anyone else's, so it’s not wonder he ended up falling for you. 

Youssef: 

🌼 How do they view their significant other? Are they the light in their life? Best friend? Savior, etc.?

Youssef sees you as someone he needs to protect, labeling himself your guardian from the moment you’d met; he doesn’t know what it is about you that manages to draw him in but it’s mystery he’s going to explore. He doesn’t mind if you refer to him as your protector or guardian (if you tack on angel he seemed to get more embarrassed about it) as it’s quite accurate to how he looks out for you daily, but he doesn’t want you to think he doesn’t respect your skill or intelligence, seeing you as being an equal rather than someone ‘weaker’; he just can’t help but want to keep you safe.

It seems Ethan makes a predetermined judgment on whether or not he’s going to even want to be a genuine friend to you, but it still takes time for him to fall completely so it’s likely you’ll have to be friends first. It’s a bit more obvious to others that he holds you in high regards as he listens to you more often and is also considerably kinder, though he can still be rather straight-forward when you’re talking to him. Ethan values your friendship so much it’s likely he won’t stir the pot too often and he’ll keep his feelings to himself until he figures out whether you might feel the same (something he has difficulty with as he finds it hard to read your emotions).

Youssef:

Youssef was never one to be hit by love at first sight but he’d always had a feeling that the two of you were connected by fate. He’s slow and steady about falling in love, not knowing if he should simply follow his heart or continue along the path he was currently on without something extra to worry about. It’s pretty apparent that he’s attached to you and your company though, his days being significantly improved when the two of you have lunch together or when you’re on an assignment together. He’s not someone who can ignore the reality of his feelings so he’s likely to make the first move after some careful deliberation on how he should approach the situation.
