Dracula Declarations of Love
There is so much love, and so much talk of love, in this book. It's extremely hard to pick a favorite, but let's give it a go (or just get emotional over a bunch of quotes lined up together).
I tried to stick mostly to declarations/talk about (rather than acts of) love, primarily to focus on specific quotes and help me narrow it down to just twelve (still a big challenge). Before anyone asks, no, "I too can love" is not on here because Dracula's version of love doesn't stack up to the others for me in terms of emotional impact. And these were definitely chosen by my personal preference of specific quotes; there are a bunch of other great words of love that didn't make it in. Also, important note - this is not exclusively romantic love by any means.
The whole quotes don't fit in the poll, so please read below before you vote.
Full Quotes:
11 May, Lucy: "Oh, Mina, couldn't you guess? I love him. I am blushing as I write, for although I think he loves me, he has not told me so in words. But oh, Mina, I love him; I love him; I love him!"
24 May, Quincey: "If that other fellow doesn't know his happiness, well, he'd better look for it soon, or he'll have to deal with me. Little girl, your honesty and pluck have made me a friend, and that's rarer than a lover; it's more unselfish anyhow."
19 August, Mina: "I have cried over the good Sister's letter till I can feel it wet against my bosom, where it lies. It is of Jonathan, and must be next my heart, for he is in my heart. [...] I must write no more; I must keep it to say to Jonathan, my husband. The letter that he has seen and touched must comfort me till we meet."
24 August, Jonathan and Mina: "Then he took my hand in his, and oh, Lucy, it was the first time he took his wife's hand, and said that it was the dearest thing in all the wide world, and that he would go through all the past again to win it, if need be. [...] Well, my dear, what could I say? I could only tell him that I was the happiest woman in all the wide world, and that I had nothing to give him except myself, my life, and my trust, and that with these went my love and duty for all the days of my life."
24 August, Mina: "Lucy dear, do you know why I tell you all this? It is not only because it is all sweet to me, but because you have been, and are, very dear to me. It was my privilege to be your friend and guide when you came from the schoolroom to prepare for the world of life. I want you to see now, and with the eyes of a very happy wife, whither duty has led me; so that in your own married life you too may be all happy as I am. My dear, please Almighty God, your life may be all it promises: a long day of sunshine, with no harsh wind, no forgetting duty, no distrust. I must not wish you no pain, for that can never be; but I do hope you will be always as happy as I am now."
7 September, Arthur: '"What can I do?" asked Arthur hoarsely. "Tell me, and I shall do it. My life is hers, and I would give the last drop of blood in my body for her."'
17 September, Mina: "Jonathan asks me to send his 'respectful duty,' but I do not think that is good enough from the junior partner of the important firm Hawkins & Harker; and so, as you love me, and he loves me, and I love you with all the moods and tenses of the verb, I send you simply his 'love' instead."
30 September, Mina and Arthur: '"I loved dear Lucy, and I know what she was to you, and what you were to her. She and I were like sisters; and now she is gone, will you not let me be like a sister to you in your trouble? I know what sorrows you have had, though I cannot measure the depth of them. If sympathy and pity can help in your affliction, won't you let me be of some little service—for Lucy's sake?" [...] "I know now how I suffered," he said, as he dried his eyes, "but I do not know even yet—and none other can ever know—how much your sweet sympathy has been to me to-day. I shall know better in time; and believe me that, though I am not ungrateful now, my gratitude will grow with my understanding. You will let me be like a brother, will you not, for all our lives—for dear Lucy's sake?"'
3 October, Jonathan: '"Nonsense, Mina. It is a shame to me to hear such a word [unclean]. I would not hear it of you; and I shall not hear it from you. May God judge me by my deserts, and punish me with more bitter suffering than even this hour, if by any act or will of mine anything ever come between us!" He put out his arms and folded her to his breast; and for a while she lay there sobbing."
3 October, Jonathan: "To one thing I have made up my mind: if we find out that Mina must be a vampire in the end, then she shall not go into that unknown and terrible land alone. I suppose it is thus that in old times one vampire meant many; just as their hideous bodies could only rest in sacred earth, so the holiest love was the recruiting sergeant for their ghastly ranks."
11 October, Mina: "You are nearest and dearest and all the world to me; our souls are knit into one, for all life and all time."
31 October, Mina: "We are truly in the hands of God. He alone knows what may be, and I pray Him, with all the strength of my sad and humble soul, that He will watch over my beloved husband; that whatever may happen, Jonathan may know that I loved him and honoured him more than I can say, and that my latest and truest thought will be always for him."

Prompt: Tommy's first birthday with Evan and he's turning 40
I'm sorry this took so long I think about things too much!
Buck had asked when Tommy's birthday was when they first started dating, kept it held tight in his memory bank until he could write it in his calendar, and began planning before they'd even gone on more than four dates. His birthday was still months away at that point, but somehow Buck knew he was in it for the long haul.
Over those few months, as their relationship turned more into a partnership, Buck learned that Tommy never really had birthday parties growing up. His mom would buy him a donut that morning and put a candle in it, sing to him quietly in the kitchen while his dad was nursing a hangover in the living room, and then he'd unwrap a comic book that his mom would save up to buy.
Every birthday after seventeen was spent alone, or at work, and he never mentioned it to anyone.
That meant that his 40th birthday had to be perfect. Absolutely perfect from start to finish.
Tommy had told him he didn't expect or even want anything, but Buck had made him promise he'd request the day off.
Tommy rarely said no to anything Buck asked.
Buck made sure Bobby scheduled everyone off for that day as well.
What he didn't expect was that Jee would get sick, and give whatever flu bug she had to Maddie and Chimney.
Or that Denny would break his leg playing soccer and Hen would be spending the night in the hospital.
Or that Christopher would call Eddie and ask him to fly to El Paso and bring him home.
Bobby had to cancel too. A pipe burst in May's apartment and they had to go move her into a new place.
A couple of Tommy's friends had last minute things come up too, leaving Buck to cancel on the remaining few that could make it. It would have been really lame to do all he had planned with only four or five people present.
On the morning of Tommy's birthday, Buck rolled over to see Tommy sleeping soundly beside him. His hair was all ruffled up, mouth hanging slightly open. His chest rose and fell peacefully.
So damn cute, Buck thought.
He'd broken the news to him yesterday afternoon. All the surprises he had planned had to be cancelled on the count of him having the worst luck in the world. Tommy had laughed, his face scrunched in that adorable smile that Buck could never resist. He brought Buck close to him, promised him, “Evan, I don't need anything or anyone but you.”
Still, Buck knew he could make the day just as special without anyone else. He started by quietly slipping out of bed, pulling on his boxers before heading to the kitchen.
When Tommy woke up twenty minutes later, it was to the smell of pancakes and bacon, his favorite breakfast.
“What's all this?” Tommy asked, a smile on his face. His hair was still a mess, he had on basketball shorts that he had tossed off the night before, and a very tight white shirt on that was most definitely Buck's. Buck loved getting to see him like this. Loved that he wasn't always so put together like everyone else thought he was.
“It's birthday breakfast,” Buck answered, bringing a plate of pancakes to the table before walking over to Tommy and wrapping him in his arms. He pressed a kiss to his lips, tasting the minty mouthwash Tommy had just used. “Happy birthday, babe,” he whispered once they parted.
Another kiss, Tommy moaning a little “Mm” into it this time, the way he always did when he felt overwhelmed by Buck's love. “Thank you.”
Reluctantly, he let Buck go so he could go get the bacon. Coffee was already on the table, steam still rising from the cup. Tommy sat down a took a sip.
Just the way he liked it.
“You didn't have to do this for me, Evan,” he said once the bacon was at the table and Buck was seated beside him.
“I wanted to. Now, eat up. Busy day ahead.”
After breakfast they both went to get dressed, but ended up a bit distracted. Usually Buck would be beside himself being thirty minutes behind schedule. Especially when he had spent the entire previous day planning every moment on a clipboard he had found mysteriously hidden behind the couch.
Turns out, Tommy was very excited about his breakfast pancakes and Buck couldn't find it in him to care that they weren't going to be on time.
Once they finally got dressed and out the door, they headed to the zoo. Tommy had mentioned before that he'd never been, and Buck had been determined since that day to make sure he got in a visit.
After the zoo was The Getty. It was a bit of a drive, but that didn't matter. Buck had learned two months into their relationship that Tommy was an incredible artist. He didn't make much time for it, but when he did, he put his all into it. Even when Buck didn't quite understand what Tommy had painted, he loved it. It was beautiful, because it meant something to Tommy, and that's all that mattered.
There was a late lunch after that, at one of their favorite cafe's. They sat outside and enjoyed the breeze while they sipped on lemonade and shared sandwiches.
Last was a hike. Nothing strenuous. It was more of an excuse to walk side by side, holding hands and chatting. Buck loved doing that. Loved that Tommy didn't shy away from affection. Loved how their hands fit together just perfectly, swinging between them with each step.
After that, they headed home for a movie night. Love, Actually was first, with whatever else Tommy wanted after that.
“Evan,” Tommy stopped him as they entered their house.
“Yeah?” Buck asked, turning to him.
Tommy lifted a hand to Buck's face, his thumb stroking his cheek gently. “Today was incredible.”
“You sure? I know it wasn't-”
“Ev. Incredible,” Tommy repeated.
Buck smiled, relief washing over his face. “It was, wasn't it?”
Tommy pulled him in for a kiss, stepping back until Buck was pressed up against the door.
Before it could get too heated, Buck patted his chest and Tommy reluctantly pulled away.
“There's something else for you,” he said, sliding away from Tommy and heading into the kitchen.
“Hun, I don't need anything else. You already did too much.”
“Just one more thing.” Buck got a rectangular, white box out of the fridge. Tommy wasn't sure how he'd hid it, but it was the first he'd seen of it. He walked closer, standing across the counter from Buck as he set the cake box down.
“You got me a cake, too?!” Tommy asked, his voice filled with something Buck could only describe as child-like glee.
“Of course I did.” He lifted the lid to show Tommy a beautifully decorated chocolate and vanilla marble cake, with 'Happy 40th Birthday, Tommy' written on it. “It was too late to cancel and order a smaller one,” he said as Tommy stared down at it in wonder, “so it feeds thirty people, but we can freeze it.”
“It's perfect,” Tommy said softly. He looked up at Buck, eyes wide and wet, “This whole day... perfect."
Evan walked around the counter and pulled Tommy close, resting his head in the crook of Tommy's neck, pressing a kiss there. “I love you, Tommy.”
Tommy ran his hands up and down Buck's back, a happy sigh escaping him. “I love you, Evan.”
*****
They were both very pleasantly surprised one week later when, thinking they were going to Bobby and Athena's for a simple dinner, they opened the door to be greeted with a beautifully decorated house. Tons of balloons and streamers all around. All their friends and family there, shouting surprise as they stood under a huge 'HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TOMMY' sign. A cake was rolled out with forty candles, and written on it was 'Someone call a firefighter!'
Tommy had to fight back the tears in his eyes. In one week he'd gone from never having a birthday cake in his life, to having two.

Not your typical date | Wanda Maximoff | Part 2
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Summary: After meeting Wanda's kids and you spend more and more time getting to know her and her family.
Masterlist | Marvel masterlist | Words: 1.2k
Part 1 | Part 2
Since that first day that you had met Billy and Tommy, you spent the weekends that the boys were with Wanda at their place. The boys loved showing you a new recipe every week and you loved to learn every recipe that they wanted to show you. Unintentionally the four of you had started your own little tradition. Billy and Tommy loved having you around, and when they found out that you loved gaming as much as you did, they loved it even more.
On the weekends and throughout the week, you spent most of your free time with Wanda. The two of you continued to get to know each other and grow closer together. To be honest, it felt like you had known Wanda for a lifetime, in the best way possible. You clicked so instantly that you couldn’t remember your life without her. Over the months you had met her friends and her brother Pietro, you loved being a part of Wanda’s life. She had also met your friends and family, everything just clicked perfectly.
You were walking around the grocery store when you saw Wanda’s name pop up on your screen. She was working today, so you hadn’t expected her call, but picked up after the second ring. “Hi baby.” You say as you pick up. “Hi love, I’m so sorry to ask you this, but I desperately need a favor.” You hear worry in her voice, “Of course, anything.” You assure her. “I just got a call from the boy’s school that they have both spiked a fever, and they need to be picked up. I can’t get away from work, I have a meeting with the big bosses today and they flew in for this meeting. After the fishing trip thing with Vision, I cannot ask him to pick them up and I was hoping that maybe you would be able to. I know it is a lot to ask.” - “Hey Wands, it’s not too much to ask, I’ve got you. Just text me the address of the school and I’ll be on my way.” You hear Wanda release a deep sigh, “Thank you so much, I’ll let the teacher know you’ll be picking them up and I’ll come right over when my meeting is done. I love you, thank you.” You smile at how much she cares for her sons. “I love you too, baby. I’ll keep you updated on the boys.”
You grab a few ingredients for chicken noodle soup, and kids medicine before heading to the register, forgetting the rest of your shopping. When you arrive at the school the boys are both looking pale sitting at the nurses station. You had planned to take them to their own house, but seeing as they were nauseous and the car ride wasn’t helping much in that department you decided to bring them to yours instead, since it was closer to the school. Once inside you led them to the guest room, you had them sit down on the bed so you could take their shoes off for them. “Mommy always gives us one of her really big shirts when we’re sick.” Tommy says with a shrill voice. “Do you have those too, y/n?” You set their shoes to the side. “Two big shirts coming up.”
The shirts you grabbed turned out to be exactly what they meant. You helped them change since their bodies hurt too much to do it themselves. You tucked them in and said that you would be right back. In a couple of minutes you were by their side again with two cups of water and some of the medicine that you got. “Your mom said that this is the medicine you usually take at home. Here, this should make you feel better soon.” And handed each of them some. You also placed a cold washcloth on their foreheads since they were heating up again. “Okay, try to get some sleep, boys. I will be right outside if you need anything okay? And your mom will be here soon too.”
You walked into the kitchen and texted Wanda an update on the boys and told her that you took them to your place. She was in her meeting but you knew that she would be worried about them and would check her phone the moment that she had time. After that you started on the soup so that it would be ready for when the boys woke up.
About two hours after you tucked Billy and Tommy in you heard footsteps coming your way. “Hey guys, how are you feeling?” Neither one of them still felt nauseous, but they said that they still weren’t feeling great. You offered them some soup, they each took a few sips of the broth before saying that they were done with it. “That’s okay. Do you guys maybe want to watch a movie before your mom get’s back?” They picked out the movie that they wanted to watch and sat down on the couch on either side of you. Tommy leaned into your side so you wrapped your arm around his shoulder so he could comfortably lay against you. Billy saw his brother getting more comfortable and decided he wanted that too, so he laid down on the couch and put his head down on your lap. Your heart warmed at how comfortable the boys were with you and started the movie cuddled up with them.
You were so focussed on the movie that you missed the notifications on your phone, saying that Wanda was done with her meetings and was on her way to your place. She used the emergency key that you gave her, in case Billy and Tommy were still asleep. When she walked into the living room and saw the three of you cuddled up on the couch, all her worries left her body. On the way to your place her mind was racing, what if this was too big of a step too soon? What if the boys weren’t comfortable? What if you didn’t have the things that the boys usually wanted when they were sick? Seeing the three of you just peacefully watching a movie, and the boys were wearing some of your oversized t-shirts, she realized that the boys were comfortable with you and that you were with them as well. She walks up to the couch and kisses each of you on the forehead, as well as asking her kids how they are feeling.
After a shower Wanda joins you in the kitchen, while the boys continue to watch the movie. “Thank you so much for today.” Wanda says as she walks up closer to you and places a kiss on her cheek. “Do you mind if they stay until the movie is done? I’ll take them home after.” - “I don’t mind them staying at all. You can all stay the night, if you want to of course. I know the boys had some good rest in the guest room earlier.” Wanda was okay with that too, she was actually quite happy that she could stay and rest after her long day. You joined the kids back on the couch and finished watching the movie cuddled up together.

hey, could you do a neil perry x fem!reader where he (and maybe the boys) comfort her..maybe she’s ill/period or even just a nightmare.
it’s okay if not !
Sick Days
Pairing: Neil Perry x FemReader
Warnings: fluff, mentions of being sick, language
Summary: Being sick is easily the worst thing that can happen at Welton but at least you have the absolute best friends in the world to make it better, especially your caring boyfriend.
word count: 1.1k
Masterlist
Nothing is worse at Welton than being sick. Being sick was guaranteed to put you behind in classes, get other students to avoid you at all costs, and keep you from spending time with your boyfriend. On top of all of this, you also had your period. Nothing was more demeaning than being the sick girl at a mainly boys school with your time of the month tagging along. So even though you weren’t a very emotional person you had found yourself softly crying in your dorm bed after the nurse had told you to stay on bed rest for the rest of the week. What a load of crap.
The other bad thing was if you missed classes absolutely everyone knew. You were more than likely the talk to the school by third period because absolutely nothing else of excitement ever happened here. So while you were locked away in your dorm room everyone got to gossip about your absence. Which was how Neil had found out. He had confirmed the information with your roommate who had been given permission to sleep in another dorm until you had recovered. If he knew you like he thought he did you were no doubt heartbroken that you now had to die of boredom alone in your dorm. You’d rather go to class and that was saying something.
So with this information he devised a plan. One his friends help set in motion considering they all loved you just as much as he did. They snuck out of their dorms often for Dead Poets meetings in the old Indian Cave so what could it hurt to sneak out and hold a very silent meeting in your dorm. Neil knew you’d be awake, upset and bored to death from having to spend the entire day alone with piles of homework dropped off in your dorm. So it’s no surprise when he opens the door to your dorm and your head lifts from your bed at the small creaking noise that came from it. “Neil”
“Hey baby, how’re you?” he whispers out, heart aching for you and how sick you look. Your covers are wrapped tightly around you and your face is quite pale. The bed infront of you is covered in the homework you must’ve been actively working at, desperate to keep yourself ahead even if you are sick. He doesn’t miss the way your lip quivers at his question and he feels guilty for asking. “Oh honey”
Neil doesn’t care about getting sick, he sits beside you in the bed and pulls you into his arms. It was his job to comfort his girl after all, so he kisses your head, and holds you while you softly cry into his chest.
“I hate being so secluded” you tell him with teary eyes and his eyes soften towards you as he uses his thumbs to brush them away.
“I know, it’s the worst. Which is why we’re here” he tells you and your eyebrows furrow in confusion as he says we’re.
“Did the boys come too?” you ask and Neil chuckles and nods before pressing one more kiss to your face before he gets picked on for doing so.
“They didn’t want our best girl being lonely either” he says as he stands and goes back to the door. Your heart clenches from him leaving your side, needing him close to you. He opens the door and you’re met with the smiling faces of each of the boys who file into your room, some sitting on your roommates bed and the others on the ground.
“Hey guys” you smile widely at them, the whisper falling from your lips.
“Hey doll, feeling better?” Charlie is the first to respond, his signature flirty smirk on his face.
“I am now” you tell him as Neil comes back to sit at your side, arm wrapping around you.
“Our first silent meeting” Neil whispers to the group and the boys whisper hoot and cheer which has you giggling lightly into Neil’s shoulder.
“Should be easy for Todd” Knox teases and you all silently laugh at the blonde boy whose cheeks have now burned red.
“Impossible for Charlie though” Cameron adds and Charlie kicks the boy with his foot from where he sits on the bed which instantly has the red headed glaring at him.
“Alright, settle down gentlemen. Let’s take a look at our refreshments” Meeks says, reaching into the pockets of his coat and pulling out mountains of snacks him and the boys had collected. Your stomach grumbles at the sight, thinking of the chicken broth and crackers you had been brought for both lunch and dinner. You were practically starved.
“Oh Pitt’s, please pass me a cookie” you call out and the tall boy obeys, plucking a cookie from one of the snack piles and leaning over to hand it to you. You smile thankfully at him and stuff half the cookie into your mouth.
“Someone seems happy?” Neil teases as you finish the cookie and you smile at him.
“So happy, I wish I wasn’t sick so I could kiss you right now” you tell him and the boys quietly ooh which has Neil waving them off.
“I’ll be waiting the moment you get better” he tells you and you smile softly at him, wishing you could show him how happy he has made you. You vow the moment you are better you’ll kiss the shit out of him.
“Okay lovebirds, let’s get this meeting started” Charlie says a touch too loud with the clap of his hands and the boys instantly shush him. He holds his hands up in defense and Neil chuckles before pulling the book out of his jacket. You watch him fondly as he reads the opening statement and when he finishes you place a kiss on his cheek.
“We can leave if you ever get too tired or don’t feel good” Neil whispers to you and you shake your head, looking fondly over each of the boys.
“No, stay. I want you all to stay” the happiness of the others surrounding you being the only thing to make you feel better all day.
“Even if Charlie reads a stupid poem?” he asks and you chuckle and nod.
“I’d actually prefer it” you tell him and he grins, eyes also glancing at his friends who were so good to come and help cheer you up. The only girl he has ever loved.
“Then we’ll stay, until you feel better” and you nod, content with that answer and content with the friends you were so lucky to have.
“I want you all to stay forever”

laws father was the one to explain why Lami would just disappear sometimes. as she in fact wasnt disappearing, she was being teleported closer to her soulmate. every day, once or twice she would disappear for a period of time and then appear again
lami was older than her soulmate by only a few months, but that made her the one who was pulled across the sea. soulmates worked like that, their father told him. they werent meant to be apart, so they didn't.
the older of a pair would be teleported to the younger one, so they could spend time together. law would also be taken to his soulmate one day, he just had to wait and be prepared to take care of them, since he was clearly the oldest one.
then he blinks and looks at the tall man and thinks that logically it is impossible that this is his soulmate, his eyes focus on the baby, the tiny baby that squirms in the mans arms and law knows that it is them
a moment later, the man seems to finally understand the situation. law watches his tired expression twist into one of resignation as he kneels down and shows him the baby.
''this is luffy.'' the man says, and he sounds loving, as if the baby is precious to him law just stares dumbly as the little baby grimaces, irritated at being moved and pulled from his slumber. he watches as the little round face contorts and suddenly the boat is filled with loud crying coming from the red faced baby when the man moves to rock the baby, a panicked expression on his face, its laws turn to grimace, impulsively approaching and pulling the man's cape.
"youre holding him wrong! you will only make him cry even more!" he makes him sit down, adjusts his posture, placing the babys head on the mans arm, ignoring the confused and curious looks he gets throughout the process. he does everything the same way he saw his father doing on the hospital once it takes a moment to get the baby to stop crying, but when they finally do, law finally asks.
"where is his mother? he might be hungry."
the man doesnt answer, a pained expression on his face and Law figures that its the wrong question to ask, so he continues. ''where are we going?''
"somewhere he will be safe." the man says, holding the baby tighter, a weird look in his eyes.
law blinks and "you're going to abandon him"
he watches as the man stiffens and sighs. "a child like you wouldnt understand." "my parents work in a hospital." law says, looking away from the man to luffy. "theres a little girl there, she was abandoned by her parents because shes sick. she has friends, she has nurses and doctors and even the nuns, but she always looks extremely lonely." the man finally looks at him, as if only now truly seeing law. law looks back.
''you shouldnt let him be lonely too. maybe he will never know of your existence, but I know he will miss your presence.''
and with that, when law blinks again, hes back in his room.
#i was thinking omg what if law met dragon?#and then OMG WHAT IF TINY LAW MET DRAGON#but in a 'how can i make it about lawlu' way#and there we are#soulmate au#yay#law being a very smat seven years old#or a normal one?? idk ive never met one#anyways#lawlu#lulaw#one piece#one piece lulaw#one piece lawlu#id like to think that dragon still left luffy whit his father even after what law said#but he shows up sometimes with the rain#hes the mistery guy luffy sees but no one else does so they think hes either crazy or a liar#but law knows better#and omg think about how fun it would be when law is big enough to understand just WHO dragon actually is#"cora-san my soulmates father is a big criminal guy that hunts celestial dragon''#*dying cora sounds on the background*#''HES DOES JUST WHAT???''

I know kids have been asked about but how they would they treat a physically pregnant darling?
From the second he learns about your pregnancy, Vivien dedicates himself to making this as easy as possible. He checks out all the books on babies at the library, reading and taking notes on everything. He wants to study every technique, every opinion, anything to ensure you have the safest and most comfortable pregnancy possible. You can't stop working, but as soon as you get home, he directs you to put your feet up and relax. Anything you're craving, he'll cook it for you. Need the remote, he's up and grabbing it. Morning sickness, he's holding your hair back and working with his herbs to find a concoction to beat it. Our sweet Vivien will run himself ragged trying to look after you. He says you're "growing body parts" so him running out at 3am to get sesame chicken is nothing. He shows up to every single doctor's appointment with a notepad, even if it's in the middle of the work day, taking copious notes on whatever the doctor says. He is also incredibly worried, but he doesn't want to annoy you or make you mad at him. He constantly checks how you’re feeling, reminding you regularly to tell him if you feel anything strange or wrong and he'll rush you straight to the doctor. He'll ask for the both of you to take gentle walks, to lay in bed a while longer, to eat more vegetables for the baby's health. He is fully aware that while this is your undertaking, he needs to take responsibility and be the best husband he can be. Any requests about the birth are honored, and he is the kind of guy to be fully involved by letting you squeeze his hand as hard as possible. He will also cut the cord and pull the kid out himself if he has to, he's not squeamish. He volunteers for every diaper and late-night feeding, and he will massage your aching stretch marks at least thrice a week. He starts out somewhat awkward with the baby, he has never had much experience with little children, but the love he holds for his child is almost tangible. He rambles to them constantly, talking about his plants, his work, and how much he loves his new little family.
Atalanta is pleased but concerned. She is not panicked like Vivien; she knows that the pregnancy itself is already implanted in the uterus, and thus, the hard part is done. She can take care of the rest. She becomes stricter when you're pregnant. Your main rule now is to do nothing that could put you or your daughter in harm's way, no junk food, a daily gentle exercise schedule, and your outfits planned by her to make sure you’re not putting unnecessary pressure on your abdomen. Atalanta cannot take a chance on losing this child; she needs an heir, therefore this child will be born and born healthy. She will pay an entire team of doctors to consult on your pregnancy with daily checkups to ensure everything is going right, no matter how annoying it is. You can still spend time with your friends and family, the time is just now limited because she wants you home and taking a rest once a day now. She completely stops all punishments, she is too scared that even hurting your feelings will damage the child somehow. Any small slights will be forgiven, and anything major will be remembered until after the birth. She buys only the latest, most well-studied baby equipment, and hooks you up to it daily. She will allow you to take charge during the birth, she knows it is a sensitive and delicate time, but she wants to cut the cord and hold the child first. After the birth, congratulations: you have earned the ultimate rest. Atalanta will bring in a trusted nurse to care for the child, and you do not have to worry about any of the gross things like changing diapers or dealing with spit-up. You just have to focus on healing and bonding with your new daughter. If you would like, Atalanta knows of a wonderful spa for postpartum mothers in California. It's only 1k per night; she can easily set up a month for you and the child to recover there; she'll just have to work remotely for a while. Atalanta loves her daughter; she is a good mother, albeit a little distant, but she will support and care for her child through everything.

Graveyard Shift
Klaus Mikaelson x black! fem! nurse! Reader
Warnings: none, Klaus being a baby
Klaus maybe a creature of the night but since he got a girlfriend, he's not fond of spending the night alone. When her job gives her yet another graveyard shift, Klaus starts to really feel the pain of her absence. The only thing he can do is go visit her of course. Only one problem- she's a nurse
“Again?” Rebekah asked, watching the vampire grab her car keys and yawn. It was the fifth night shift of the week. For weeks now, since this whole COVID thing began, they’d been seeing less and less of the young vampire.
“Someone needs to save our food, Bex. How it works is, if everyone gets sick and dies, then we can’t eat. If we can’t eat, then we get sick and we won’t die. We’ll just be very uncomfortable.” Rebekah rolled her eyes, as she watched her brother's girlfriend adjust her scrubs and the pink bandanna wrapped around her 4c hair.
She was a nurse, a damn good one at that. New Orleans born and raised until 6, New York from 6-18 then and California educated, she’d finally moved back to NOLA just ten months ago. Just when she was getting used to the hustle of being a nurse and living in a new state, she finally felt stable enough to allow herself a night out. After a night clubbing with some friends and a very unfortunate fall down the steps leading to her apartment (the elevator in her apartments never worked) she woke up with an insatiable hunger. That hunger drove her to eat her landlord.
In her defense, it was his fault for refusing to fix the elevator. She fought it off for as long as she could. However, when she went to file her complaint, he was just so arrogant about it that she couldn’t take it anymore. She took her hand, went from sternum to clavicle with her teeth lodged in his neck.
Now she was dating Klaus Mikaelson, the man who her landlord had some business with. On that fateful night, Klaus came looking for him. Instead he found her eating the man's heart with such passion that it reminded him of himself after he’d gotten a bit too hangry. Long story short, after he had to really work for it they’d now been together for three months. So here she was, with a tiny mirror sitting on the counter top of the kitchen, his sister sitting across from her having a late night snack of popcorn and blood.
“I’m not sure why you bother. If it’s not a virus, they're out there killing each other themselves.” Rebekah responded as she popped a piece of popcorn into her mouth. She took a sip from the blood pouch in her hand and her blue eyes followed Elijah walking in. Her brother loosened his tie, and rolled his sleeves up before pulling the fridge open and pulling a blood pouch of his own out.
“Goodnight. Work again?” Elijah asked with a raised eyebrow. She nodded in response, her curly hair bouncing up and down over her forehead. Elijah gave an amused smirk and ran his fingers through his short hair. Leaning against the fridge, he looked her up and down.
“Leave her be Rebekah. She’s saving our food so we don’t have to.” With a scoff, the nurse pouted at Elijah and stole the pouch from Rebekah’s hand.
“Hey-”
“I need to eat.” She shrugged, pulling her book bag onto her shoulders.
“You’re going to a hospital, you can literally get all the food you want! There’s probably a higher variety there too.” After a moment, the nurse shrugged and tossed the near empty bag back to Rebekah.
“When Klaus gets home, tell him I got called in. I’ll see you all tomorrow.” With that, she was gone, off to save the lives of the many citizens of NOLA. Elijah and Rebekah waved goodbye as she walked out of the kitchen and towards the front door. The moment the front door closed, and they heard her car cruise out of their driveway Rebekah let out a sigh.
“I’m not prepared for another one of Klaus’s ‘I miss her tantrums.’ ” Rebekah grumbled, sliding off the chair. Her heels clacked against the floor and she started walking out of the kitchen, Elijah shook his head. He slurped up the rest of his late dinner and tossed the bag into the trash bin behind him.
“I don’t think we’ll ever be.” Elijah responded with an amused chuckle.
༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺
“I have to go to work Klaus.”
“No you don’t, you have to stay here. With me.” Klaus groaned as he wrapped his arms tighter around her waist. She rolled her eyes, running her fingers through Klaus’s curly blonde hair. Klaus’s eyes trailed to the contrast of her dark thighs against his pale skin. As an artist, Klaus loved seeing colors contrast. It was one of the things Klaus loved most about staring at his girlfriend.
Her curly black hair blending in with the dark black of his covers, whatever color bonnet popping against her dark skin, her deep brown eyes that reminded Klaus of a smooth hot chocolate. The way her skin glimmered and her hair shone in the sun and moon light. Lately though, Klaus hasn’t seen much of her in the moonlight. Every night for the past three weeks Klaus’s girlfriend has been stolen away from him.
Called into work to deal with the ill masses of Klaus’s city. Coming home immediately unable to do anything more than sleep and maybe muster up a wish for some food. Klaus always had a deep respect for medics. From the ones he grew up with who would disinfect his wounds after a fight with his father, to Rebekah’s friend’s he’d bedded in the past. All those who help keep his city up and running. Lord only knows Klaus would never be able to help with the sick. He wouldn’t be able to manage the crying families, the sick elderly. God forbid someone throws up onto him, that would probably be the one thing that Klaus has no idea how he’d react too.
He groaned, pushing his face into her hip. She was sitting on the edge of the bed, and Klaus was still on his stomach. Face squished into her soft body, Klaus inhaled her scent deeply. The next time he smelt her, she wouldn’t smell like the scent he was used to. She wouldn’t smell like her and Klaus hated that thought.
Her hand pushed Klaus’s head off her and a grunt escaped him.
“I gotta go baby. You have things to do as well, don’t you?
“I do, but I’d rather stay here and do you.” She laughed in response. The laugh that made Klaus’s knees go weak. Her head rolled, neck cracking and stretched out her arms. After a brief moment, she shook off the weariness from her bones and flopped down next to Klaus.
“Hello darling.” Klaus whispered, face impossibly close to hers. Her nose nuzzled against his and her chuckled.
“ Look, I miss you too and I’m sorry that I can’t stay. I’m sorry we haven’t been spending much time together. How about this weekend, we go somewhere? No work, nothing. I promise.” A soft hand, scented with cocoa butter and coconuts pressed against Klaus’s cheek. A large hand covered hers and allowed a moment of vulnerability. To show her just how badly he wanted her.
“Do you promise?” Klaus asked with a blink. A nod was his response, as she sat up. Fluffing out the flattened parts of her hair, Klaus gave her butt a soft pat.
She giggled, planting a soft kiss to the space right next to his ear. She climbed out of the bed with a content sigh. Klaus flopped over onto his back, watching her scamper off into the bathroom. Klaus sighed, knowing it would be forever and a day before he could see his girlfriend again.
༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺
“I can’t stand for this!” Klaus threw his hands out in exasperation, motioning to the empty spot on the chair in the sitting room.
The siblings were relaxing in the sitting room, enjoying a lovely evening. Rebekah was steadfastly scribbling designs in her notebook, Elijah was reading a book and Klaus was trying and failing to focus on a painting. The sunny landscape he was trying to draw wouldn’t come out right no matter what, and it was because his brain just wouldn’t focus.
Three days. It had been three days since Klaus had properly seen his girlfriend for more than a passing moment. Three days since he’d kissed her, and held her hands, and smelt her intoxicating scent. Three days and his world felt darker and bleaker than ever.
“Stand for what?” Elijah asked, shutting his book and perching his hand on his chin. Hayley waddled in and chuckled, rubbing her stomach.
“I haven’t seen my own girlfriend in days. I miss her! I can’t just demand she returns home, but I can’t not see her.”
“For God's sake Nik. You can only wait for her, it’s not her fault you have the patience of a toddler.” Rebekah growled. She was never a fan of noise when she tried working. Klaus’s complaining was certainly ruffling her blonde feathers.
Plopping down next to Elijah, who whispered a soft greeting to her, Hayley tossed her curly hair over her shoulder.
Klaus grumbled and threw his paintbrush down onto his easel. It was no use just being in the room without her sitting there. Her not being there reading, chatting with all of them or doing something to her hair was driving him mad.
“Why not just go visit her?” Hayley asked, taking a bite of the candy bar she pulled out of her pocket.
“At the hospital?” Klaus asked. Elijah raised a curious eyebrow. Anyone with eyes who knew Klaus long enough knew that wasn’t a good idea. This same man turned a woman for coughing too loud and burned her alive while her daughter watched. Long story short, Klaus does not do well with the sick.
“And do what? Distract her from her job?” Rebekah snorted, while examining a cloth next to the small station she’d created for herself on the couch.
Klaus opened his mouth to protest but was stopped by Elijah putting up a hand.
“Niklaus surely you know she wouldn’t be able to pay attention to you. You’d end up just sitting around waiting for her.” Elijah attempted to be the voice of reason as always but he could already see the gears turning in Klaus’s brain.
A moment of silence fell over the room, the fireplace crackling behind all of them. Klaus sunk onto the couch on the opposite end of Hayley. His arms crossed over his chest, and his eyes looked a mix of frustrated and sad. Everyone took just a moment to stare at him but then went back to their activities.
“What if I had a reason for her to pay attention to me?”
Hayley snapped her neck to the side and stared at Klaus. Rebekah slowly looked up, her forehead wrinkling and raised an eyebrow. Elijah could only sigh, holding his forehead with his thumb and index finger.
“What are you on about?”
༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺
“Did they just call for me?” The nurse asked, swallowing a gulp of water and pulling her mask back up. It slightly irked her wearing it, knowing she personally was at no risk. But still she wasn’t sure how transmission of the disease would work, and risking carrying COVID to Hayley and the baby was the last thing she wanted to do. She was unsure if Hayley could even catch COVID but the risk was simply too high.
The speaker just muttered what sounded like a gibberish version of her name, even with the supernatural hearing of the vampire.
“I think so. A patient is requesting you and only you.” Strange. Her coworker slipped her own mask down, and reapplied some chapstick. With a sigh the woman rose up, fluffing out her curly hair that seemed to be shrinking more with each passing moment. All she wanted was a moment where she could slip away and do something to prevent the nightmare that would be combing it out later.
“Third floor, room 19. David James.” The other nurse informed, giving her friend a supportive pat on the shoulder. The two walked down the hallways, crocs slapping against the floor as doctors and other nurses ran past them.
“Patient came in and said he tumbled down his steps. Broken leg, 3 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and a head injury. Looks more like he tumbled into traffic if you ask me.” It was rare these days to have a patient that wasn’t there in pain from COVID these days.
The vampire welcomed the small break from seeing people despair. From watching everyone from small children to elders be hooked up to a machine to breathe. Patients constantly on FaceTime or holding up their devices for them so they could at the very least be seen by their families. This was easy. This was just some guy who took a tumble and wouldn’t need ventilation.
“Thanks Melissa, I’ll see you later.” Stepping into the elevator, she began the descent from the fourth floor to the third. The elevator dinged and she stepped down the hallway. A strange feeling bubbled in her stomach, like something good was about to happen.
It scared her but excited her all the same. Weird, usually at work the only time she felt joy or achievement was when she was able to do her job correctly.
She approached the door and pushed it open after knocking. A gruff ‘come in’ was her response. All she could muster up was a blank stare at the moment.
“Babe…” was all she could say after about twenty seconds of staring.
Why was her indestructible vampire boyfriend sitting on a bed staring at her with a cheesy grin? And why did he supposedly have a broken leg, 3 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and a head injury?
“Hello darling.” Klaus smiled and got up with ease, both legs meeting the ground.
“Hi…how are you? What is this?” She asked through a flustered laugh. He engulfed her in one of the hugs she missed so much and suddenly it hit her just how much she really missed her boyfriend. How tired she really was and how much she just wanted to go home.
She had been pushing it off, for the sake of getting her job done, but still missed him deeply. She missed his large hands holding hers. His hands giving her a nice back rub and his soft lips planting kisses on her face. His scent, his voice, his wicked humor. Everything really.
“This is a patient of yours that needs immediate medical care. I’ve been feeling this strange emptiness, my heart hurts too. My arms constantly feel empty too, like something is just missing.” Klaus gave her some way to look up at him, and he slipped her mask down her face.
He pressed a kiss to her lips and she giggled.
“I missed you too, you big baby.”

Do You Wish It Was Me? | Rooster x Reader

Warnings: Angst and fluff
Length: 2400 words
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Female Reader
Check my masterlist for more Top Gun fun!
Bradley had been thinking about you every day for six months. It had been a long deployment, even for him, and that's why he decided to hold off taking things to the next level with you. At least until he was home again.
But now that he was back in San Diego and had some time to spend with you, he wanted to make you more than a friend with benefits. A lot more.
He had tried texting you all day, and now as he was easing his Bronco into the parking lot at the Hard Deck, he was hoping you would be inside.
Bradley met you last summer. You had been working as a server at the restaurant next to the bar while you finished your graduate degree. You were bubbly, gorgeous, sexy and smart. It didn't take long until Bradley had ended up in bed with you. He spent night after night with your body connected to his, your hands wrapped in his hair while he made love to you.
He wanted to get back to that place, and more.
"Rooster!" Nat screamed when he strolled in. "You didn't tell me you were home!" He let his friend jump into his arms and hug him tight.
"Just got home today," he told her, as he drew the attention of the other aviators and everyone hanging out at the pool table. But he was distracted now, because you were there, next to the bar, nursing a beer. Your eyes were already on Bradley's when he found you in the crowd. But Harvard was standing next to you with his arm around you.
Bradley's blood ran cold as Lieutenant Brigham Lennox leaned toward you and kissed your cheek. Your gaze never wavered, rather it remained on Bradley, even as Harvard pushed your hair away from your neck.
"What the fuck?" Bradley muttered. He could hear his friends calling for him at the pool table, and Nat tried to lead him in that direction. "No, I just need a minute."
Nat let go of him and he made his way around the bar. Your eyes grew wider as he got closer to you, and when Harvard saw Bradley approaching, he reached out a hand and slapped Bradley on the back.
"Rooster! Welcome back, man." Bradley shook his hand, barely registering that Brigham was even touching him. He never could stand Harvard; he always drank until he was wasted, and tried to hook up with girls who Bradley would have thought were too drunk to know what they wanted.
"Harvard," Bradley grunted, still looking at you.
But Harvard must have noticed where Bradley was looking, because he smiled brightly and said. "I can't thank you enough for introducing her to me. Show him your ring, Sweetcheeks!"
Bradley felt like the rest of the bar and all of the patrons were slowly fading into nothingness. All that remained was him and you. And the diamond engagement ring on your finger.
"Hi, Bradley," you said timidly as his eyes darted between your finger and your eyes. You hadn't waited for him. Not only that, but you were engaged. To a complete asshole.
Bradley felt sick and confused and angry and horribly sad as you smiled softly at him. "Did he just call you Sweetcheeks?" was all Bradley managed to ask, and you took a step closer to him when Harvard wandered away to talk to someone else. "Honey?"
Your mouth dropped open. "Bradley. Should we go talk outside?"
He just nodded and followed you as you made your way through the crowd. He had been hoping to see you tonight, but not like this. He wanted you in his arms, against his skin, your voice lulling him to sleep.
"What happened?" Bradley asked once you and he were the only ones outside on the deck. "Harvard?" He was panicking.
You nodded your head a few times. "We've been dating. Only engaged for a week."
"Honey. I've been thinking about you every single day for six months." There was no way this was right. You should be holding him by now, listening to Bradley tell you all about the dates he was going to take you on.
He watched the expressions on your face rapidly change from confusion to anger to sadness.
"You've been thinking about me? You never said anything before you left, Bradley."
And you were right. He really hadn't. But Bradley thought you felt the same way about him. Or at least that your feelings were strong enough that you wouldn't be engaged to Harvard after six months.
"I'm really, really regretting that now, Honey." He ran his hands over his face and groaned.
"I think you need to stop calling me Honey," you whispered sadly, and Bradley watched you chew on your lip.
Bradley swallowed hard and nodded. He barely heard you say, "I'm sorry," as you went back inside. He followed you a little helplessly. He watched Harvard get so drunk that he was embarrassing himself. He watched you as your eyes often found his, and Bradley knew he needed you back.
-------------------------------
You had been keeping your distance, and Bradley hated it. He was thinking about how you had been his, even if just for a short time. You had shared your dreams with him late at night. He knew about your family and your likes and dislikes.
When Bradley ran into you on base when you came to drop off Harvard's lunch, you couldn't hide the look of longing from him.
"Honey," Bradley said quietly. "You don't have to be with him."
You shook your head slightly and said, "It's too late."
When your gaze dropped down to look at your ring, Bradley kept his eyes on yours. "He's not good enough for you."
Harvard was like a self-fulfilling prophecy, appearing with his arm draped across the shoulders of a new recruit called Glory, his mouth close to her ear. But he dropped her like a sack of potatoes when he saw you standing next to Bradley.
"Sweetcheeks! You bring me my lunch?" he asked, giving you a sloppy kiss and digging into the bag you handed to him. "Thanks. I'll see you later."
He just winked at Bradley and then followed Glory into the lunchroom.
"It's not too late," Bradley called out to your retreating form. The little raise of your hand as you walked away made him want to chase you down.
---------------------------
It had been weeks since Bradley had seen you, but he had received an invitation to your engagement party. He wasn't intending to go. He didn't want to have to wish you well as your wedding drew closer. In fact, he was dreading the day he saw an invitation to the actual ceremony.
But he ended up at the Hard Deck, and he knew you were inside before he even walked through the door.
You looked gorgeous in a sundress and denim jacket, and he wished he had never gone away for those six months. He wished he had made you his.
"Bradley," you whispered softly to him as he walked toward the pool table.
He paused and smiled at you, even though it hurt him so much. "Hey, Honey."
Your lips parted, and Bradley was ready for you to scold him again. Ready to hear you tell him not to call you that. But you just said, "It's good to see you."
He nodded and headed to where Nat was waving a pool cue at him. "Me and you against Harvard and Glory."
"Sure," Bradley grunted, and he watched Harvard reach across Glory's chest to rack the balls. He shared a look with Nat who looked as annoyed as he felt.
"Ready?" Nat asked, and Bradley saw Harvard's eyes dip to Glory's body before he nodded.
"Your break, Phoenix," he said, standing so close to Glory, Bradley couldn't tell where his arm ended and hers began.
Every time Bradley looked toward the bar, you were already looking at him. He kind of wished you would look at your fiancé and notice how much of a scumbag he was. But how could you not know? You were smart. You were perfect.
When Bradley headed out for the night, leaving you to deal with sloppy, drunk Brigham, you let your fingers brush against his arm.
He came to a halt next to you, the noise and the crowd pushing him closer to you.
"We could be together...."
You just tucked your hand into your pocket and shook your head. So he left.
------------------------
Bradley wasn't planning on coming. The party had already started before he even left his house, but since he was pacing around and making himself feel sick, he decided to go.
Seeing you at your engagement party, happy and next to Harvard would help him put his feelings all to rest.
So Bradley drove to the restaurant where you used to work. He walked in and sat at a table with Nat.
"Didn't think you'd be here," his best friend said softly. "If you decide you need to leave, let me know and I'll go with you."
"Thanks, Nat," Bradley managed to say. "But I think this might help me in the long run."
When he saw you walk into the room hand in hand with Harvard, Bradley couldn't help but notice how sad you looked. Your eyes found him immediately, and wanted to wrap himself around you. Take you away from here.
"I can't," he muttered to Nat and went to the bar that was set up in the corner of the room. He took a deep breath and asked the bartender for a whiskey, neat. He could hear all of the happy conversations and see everyone socializing around him, but he shouldn't have come.
He downed his drink at the bar and was about to order another one when he heard you. "I'm going to step outside for some air, if you want to join me."
Bradley watched your retreating form as you slipped out through the French doors onto the balcony and out of sight. He set his empty glass on the bar and followed you. As much as he wished he could stop himself, he knew he couldn't.
"Honey," he murmured when he saw you leaning against the balcony railing, looking out at the water.
Bradley knew he looked like shit right now. He hadn't been sleeping, and he was miserable. But you were looking at him like he was lovely. Like he was yours.
"I'm sorry, Bradley," you whispered as you turned to look up at him. "I'm so sorry. I had no idea someone like you would want to be...serious with me."
He could feel his brow scrunch up. "What do you mean... someone like me?"
"Oh... you're just... so sweet and handsome. Smart. Kind. I thought you and I were just hooking up. You called us friends with benefits. I didn't know... But I thought about you, too. I thought about that last night before you left for deployment. You whispered something to me, when you were falling asleep. I thought maybe you were dreaming, or maybe I imagined it."
"Honey." His voice was straining. It was hard to breathe. "I wasn't dreaming, and you didn't imagine it."
Your eyes were on his, and your lips were parted, silently begging him to say it again. He'd never make you beg for anything. He'd never treat you the way Harvard does.
"I love you," he whispered, and your eyes fluttered closed. Your breathing became shallow, and a sound halfway between a laugh and a cry escaped your lips.
"Sweetcheeks! You coming? Time for speeches."
Harvard was beckoning from the doorway, and you were frantically scanning Bradley's face. He wanted to reach for you, but you let a neutral expression fall into place, and then you followed Harvard back inside.
Bradley took a few minutes to himself, looking out at the water. He'd made a huge mistake with you. He should have never called you a friend with benefits. He should have asked you to wait for him; it certainly seemed now like you would have.
He was afraid he was never going to get over you.
With one more deep breath, he walked back inside just as you stood up at your table with a microphone in hand, and he dropped back into his seat next to Nat.
"Thank you all for being here today," you said, but your voice sounded thin and tinny, so unlike you. "I just wanted to say that I can't wait...." You were turning to look at Harvard where he was sitting next to you with a big grin on his face. "I can't wait to marry.... Well, Brigham and I are just so.... We're excited."
Bradley's heart was racing. He couldn't stand listening to you talking about someone else. He needed to leave. He was searching for the best escape route, one where he wouldn't completely disrupt the evening.
But when you cleared your throat, your gaze settled on him, and you smiled softly. "I just need to say something," you said into the microphone with more conviction. You turned toward your fiance. "Brig, I can't marry you. I'm sorry." The microphone hit the table at the same second that Bradley launched out of his seat. He watched you take your ring off and hand it to Harvard who looked like he was in shock.
Then you were moving, weaving between tables and heading his way. You seemed a little hesitant now, your eyes wide as you looked at him. Bradley never wanted you to hesitate with him again.
"Honey," he called out, and suddenly your hand was grasping his as you pulled him outside with you.
Bradley ran with you down the steps and across the sand, your laughter lighting him up from the inside.
"Bradley!" you gasped, once you had reached the parking lot. You were in his arms now, your fingers in his hair as you kissed him and smiled against his lips. "I love you, too."
"Let's get out of here, Honey," he said, scooping you up and carrying you toward his Bronco. You were kissing along his jaw and whispering his name against his skin. "I have a lot of making up to do. Gonna make you mine."

Hey ,hope you are doing okay. I wanted to request a taehyung × reader where she gets hurt or something when he was on tour but she tries to hide it from her but he finds out eventually. angsty with happy ending
Here you go. I hope you like it!!
I’m Alway Worried About You
This is not how you planned your Tuesday night going. Thankfully the emergency room wasn’t too packed and they were able to get you seen pretty quickly. “Okay Y/N. It seems you have a bad case of pneumonia. Everything will be okay and you’ll make a full recovery but we do want to keep you for the next 24 hours to give you some breathing treatments and make sure it doesn’t get any worse.”, the doctor advises you. You simply nod your head in agreement and watch as we walks out the door.
“You should really call Taehyung and let him know what’s going on.”, your best friend speaks up. “No I can’t do that. He’s on tour and he’ll freak out. He’ll be on the next plane back.”, you say shanking your head. She laughs, “And that would be a bad thing why? It’s obvious he loves you.” “I know he does but he’s already given up so much for me. I don’t want him to get in trouble. Plus the doctor said I’ll be fine so there’s no reason he ever has to find out about this.”, you reply. After convincing your friend that you’d be okay and didn’t need her to spend the night you said goodbye and settled in for the night.
The following morning you woke up extremely tired and with a massive headache. When the doctor told you that you’d be getting breathing treatments you didn’t think he meant every hour. You just finished yet another treatment when your phone started vibrating on the table next to you. Checking the screen you saw Taehyungs name flashing. You’d already ignored two of his calls so you knew if you did it a third time he’d have someone looking for you so you had no choice but to answer.
“Hello”
“There you are Y/N! I was getting worried.”
“I’m sorry Tae. I was in the shower.”
“It’s okay. How are you? I miss you so much!”
“Aww babe I miss you too! How much longer until you get back?”
“Umm like two weeks.”
“Oh that’s not too ba-“
You’re cut off before you can finish. “Here you go Miss. These are your discharge papers. The dr will be in shortly to give your lungs one final listen.”, the nurse says before turning and walking away. You’re glad they weren’t currently checking your blood pressure because the machine definitely would’ve blown up. You were praying Taehyung didn’t hear that but before you even continue he asks,
“Discharge papers and doctor? Y/N are you okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine Tae. It was in the drama I’m watching on tv. The female lead was in the hospital.”, you said hoping he buys the lie.
“Alright. Well I have to get going. I’ll talk to you later. I love you Y/N.”
“I love you too Tae. Be safe! Tell the boys I say hi.”
After the call ended you let out a long sigh thankful that he didn’t ask any more questions. The doctor came in shortly after and checked your breathing. He said you still sounded a little sick but much better than yesterday. He gave you a prescription for an inhaler to use if you felt like your breathing was getting worse and signed off on your discharge. Your best friend was waiting in the lobby to take you home.
The next couple weeks went by fast. Every day you felt a little stronger and you only had to use the inhaler twice. Today was an exciting day because Taehyung was finally coming home after being gone for the last couple months. As soon as he walked in the door you ran and jumped into his arms, “I missed you so much Tae.” He spun you around the living room before giving you a kiss, “I missed you too Y/N.”
After spending some time catching up you both realize that you’re starving and decide to check out a new restaurant that just opened up. The meal was great. Taehyung told you all about the tour. He showed you all of the pictures and videos he took. You couldn’t stop the smile that was on your face. As the two of you made your way back home you held his hand close, just happy that he was finally there. You both walked from the car over to the elevator ready to get upstairs and cuddle and watch the newest drama everyone keeps talking about. You went to press the button on the elevator when you noticed a big yellow sign taped to the doors ‘Out Of Service. Please Take the Stairs. Sorry For The Inconvenience’.
Taehyung scoffs next to you, “For how much we pay to live here you’d think they could keep everything in working order.” You nod in agreement but have no choice but to take the stairs. Luckily your apartment is only on the fifth floor but it’s still quite a few stairs to take. With each staircase it gets harder and harder to breathe. Taehyung notices, “Are you okay Y/? We can take a break.” You shake your head, “No this is just a reminder that I have to start working out more.” The two of you continue up and finally reach your floor. You never thought you’d be so happy to see the tacky green carpet of the hallway leading to your apartment.
Now it seems that with each step your lungs are getting weaker and weaker. Sure you’re not the most physically fit person but you’ve never been this exhausted before. Then you remembered how the doctor told you that your lungs could be weaker for the next couple months as they fully recover from the pneumonia and that’s why he gave you the inhaler. You had stuffed the inhaler in the back of your nightstand drawer thinking you’d never need it again and wanted to make sure Taehyung never found it.
“Y/N are you sure you’re okay? You don’t look that good.”, he says pushing open the door to your apartment. You try to respond but realize you don’t have enough breath in your lungs to speak. You start to panic and begin pointing at your chest. “What’s wrong? Do I need to call for an ambulance? Y/N, try to breathe.”, he says clearly upset. Still unable to speak you start briskly walking back to your bedroom, Taehyung following close behind. Once you get to your nightstand you start pulling out item after item throwing them on the floor until you get to what you’re looking for. The navy blue inhaler. Quickly you follow the directions and push down inhaling the medicine and holding your breath. You Wait 10 seconds and do it again. After another 10 seconds you take one more inhale. Closing your eyes you sit on the bed and wait for the medicine to take effect.
Thankfully it only takes a couple minutes for the medicine to start working and slowly you can feel your lungs taking in more air. When you finally open your eyes you search for Taehyung and see him standing in front of you with wide eyes. “Y/N, what’s going on? We’ve been together for five years and you never told me you had asthma and I’ve never seen you use an inhaler.”, he asks with hints of fear and anger in his voice.
Taking another deep breath you grab his hand and pull him next to you. You decide it’s best to come clean. “I don’t have asthma. A few weeks ago I was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. They gave me this inhaler but I didn’t think I’d need it so I didn’t bring it and I’ve been feeling much better but I think taking all of those stairs overworked my lungs. I’m sorry if I scared you.”, you said unable to look at him. “Of course you scared me Y/N. I thought you were dying. Why didn’t you tell me you were in the hospital? That’s not fair to keep something like that from me.”, he said trying but failing to hide the anger in his voice. “I’m sorry Tae. The doctor said I was going to be fine. If it was something serious I would’ve called you. I just didn’t want you to worry about me.”, you said squeezing his hand.
Taehyung lifted your chin so you were looking at him, “Y/N, I’m always worried about you when I’m not with you. I worry if you’re safe, if you’re healthy, if you’re happy, if you’re eating and sleeping well. Just like you’re always worried about me. If something happens and I’m not here I need to know about it. Even if it’s a paper cut you got while opening the mail. Even if I’m on the other side of the world. Promise me if something ever happens again you will call me, no matter what.” You nod and kiss his cheek, “I promise. I’m sorry.”
He gives you a big boxy smile, “Good. Now let’s clean up and then meet me on the couch. We’ve got a whole drama to binge watch in one night so we better get started.” You laugh and begin placing things back in the drawer except for the blue inhaler you can’t seem to find anywhere. Panic sets in until you see Taehyung in the living room holding the inhaler and talking on the phone. You bite your lip trying to hide the smile that forms as you hear him say, “Yes the prescription is for Mrs.Y/N Kim. I was wondering what would be needed to be able to get enough of these inhalers to put one in every room of the house and to have one on me at all times.” You laugh at his concern. You know they’d never give you enough to do that but for the time being you’ll let him have this moment and you feel your heart swell at how much he loves and cares about you.

Hide and Seek | S. Harrington
Pairing: Steve x Hopper!Reader
Timeframe: Season 5
Summary: It's time to take down Vecna once and for all and, much to Steve's protests, Y/n puts herself on the frontline.
warning description of violence and injury
PREVIOUS PART
series masterlist // main masterlist
a/n: and we're back to the main storyline :) this part was not initially planned, but it felt awkward moving forward without addressing what goes down during the big battle with Vecna! hope you enjoy :)
September 21st, 1978
Y/n sat at the kitchen table quietly, stewing in her nervousness as she waited for her mom to explain further. She had called her eldest to sit with her, which wasn't what made Y/n anxious. It was when her mom called her by her full name. That was never a good sign.
From underneath the table they sat at, Y/n's mom held up her daughter's school bag, unzipped it and pulled out a sheet of paper. Y/n hung her head, cursing herself for not just throwing it in the bin like she initially contemplated doing. Seeing her reaction, Y/n's mom softened her gaze.
“Why didn’t you tell me there was a school trip coming up?”
She could not understand it. Y/n was not the type to hide things from her mom, nor was she the type to pass up an overnight school field trip.
Y/n locked eyes with her mom for a short moment before averting them quickly. Her face was burning up from the embarrassment. She never meant for her little white lie to turn into a whole thing.
“I forgot.”
“Y/n, don’t lie to me.”
The young girl hung her head once more.
“There’s a fee. I didn’t know if we could afford to…”
She couldn't bring herself to finish her sentence. Not after the sharp inhale her mother took almost immediately. Y/n glanced up at her momentarily. She had seen her mother do a heck of a lot of crying over the last few months, but never like that, and never over her.
The older woman rose from her chair and sped around the table, pulling her daughter into her embrace.
“I’m so sorry, Y/n,” she said softly, before finally pulling away. “I know your dad and I have been fighting a lot, and constantly going back and forth about Sara, instead of making sure we were looking after you.”
“I get it, mom,” Y/n whispered.
Her mother felt her stomach drop further. This was the last thing she wanted for Y/n. Her sweet, vibrant Y/n who had gotten far too good at and far too accustomed to pulling a brave face. The older woman lifted her hands to the sides of her daughter’s face and frowned regretfully.
“We’ll do better, I promise,” she said before glancing back down at the sheet of paper on the kitchen table and taking it in her hand once more. “Starting with this field trip, because there’s no way you’re missing out.”
“Mom, you don’t have to-“
Y/n’s eyes widened as her mom held her hand up, stopping her from saying anything further. She pursed her lips tightly, giving the field trip handout a onceover before looking her daughter dead in the eye.
“I’m the mom, you’re the kid, ok?” She snapped, her voice filling the room to the brim, startling Y/n at first and then filling her with relief. She nodded.
The entire time Sara had been sick, nurses and doctors and family friends were commenting on how strong and mature her big sister was, shouldering extra responsibilities to help out her parents and spending all her free time with Sara all while keeping her grades up at school. Y/n never wanted to be strong and mature, but by the way everyone spoke about her, it was obvious that’s what everyone needed her to be.
Y/n’s mother sighed. The fees and the finer details were not to be any of Y/n’s business, she declared to herself. That was hers and Hopper’s. All she wanted from Y/n was a simple answer, and then she would move however many mountains necessary to make it work. The woman gazed intently at her daughter.
“You wanna go on this trip?”
Y/n opened her louth and hesitated for a moment before answering in a hushed tone, “I-I do.”
Her mom nodded once and looked at the handout yet again, her eyes searching for the information on the fee. It would be a stretch, but the woman’s mind was already decided. One of her girls was going to have some semblance of a nice year if it was the last she did.
“I’ll talk to dad. We’ll make it happen.”
Y/n blinked, dumbfounded. It was that simple? She had spent weeks analysing every sentence on the hand out, contemplating if the trip was even worth bringing up to her parents and contemplating ways she could come up with the money herself.
In one conversation, her mom had fixed it all for her.
The young girl was grinning ear to her. With glossy eyes she stepped forward and hugged her mother tightly. It was a small but immensely meaningful win for her, and she needed her mom to know that.
“Thank you.”
The woman felt her breath hitch. After several months of hell, a thank and a hug from a happy daughter was more than she could have asked for. She kissed the top of Y/n’s head and hugged her just as tightly, with no intention of letting go until she did first.

November 27th, 1984
Y/n needed a second to breathe. She left Steve with the kids for a few minutes so she could lock the backdoor and the windows, but she found herself standing in the hallway and catching her breath.
When Y/n finally made her way back to the living room, she did so slowly, puzzled by the gruff voice coming from the living room where the kids were. She could only just make out the words being spoken.
“You know what happens when I get angry, Max. I break things."
Her stomach turned as realisation hit and she raced towards the sound of the kids screaming. Billy Hargrove was yet again causing trouble. By the time Y/n reached the living room, he had already broken one of Joyce’s plates and held a petrified little Lucas against the wall by his shirt.
Instantly fuming, Y/n made her way towards him with clenched fists, her thumbs tucked in just as she had been taught by her old man.
“Hey asshole,” she shouted, pulling Billy back by his shoulder as hard as she could. Once he let go of Lucas and turned to Y/n, she swung her right fist with all her might and aimed right for his stupid face.
Billy doubled back, lifting his hand to his nose and kissing his teeth when he saw blood on his fingertips.
“Yeah, kick his ass Y/n!” The kids were cheering from the corner of the room, making Y/n forget about the pain in her hand, but only just for a moment. Billy laughed dryly.
“You know, I’m getting real sick of you butting your nose into my business,” he hissed, starting to get the impression she was more than just an old babysitter to the little boys who kept hanging around Max. “Just ‘cause your dad’s the stupid police chief, doesn’t mean you run this town.”
Y/n furrowed her brows, resenting being referred to nothing but the chief’s daughter, even moreso from a dingus like him. He inched forward, trying to intimidate her, but Y/n straightened her back and planted her feet.
“Just shut up and go pick on someone your own size, Billy,” she spat, still fuming. It was bad enough he had a habit of beating up unsuspecting freshman at school, now he was terrorising her kids.
Billy kept moving closer to her, the crease between his brows remaining steady, and it started to dawn on Y/n that if he had no issue with hitting a kid as sweet as Lucas, there was very little chance he would have an issue with beating her up. Her feet shifted backwards ever so slightly, and Billy took immediate notice of it. He smirked.
“Already did,” he taunted, nodding his head towards the window facing the front yard. “Didn’t you see your little boyfriend on the ground outside?”
Y/n was swinging her fist again before it could even register, but unfortunately Billy caught it before another blow could be made to his face. Just as his lips instinctively curved into what Y/n knew would be another infuriating smirk, Y/n jolted her foot upwards until it came to a sudden and aggressive collision with his groin.
Billy doubled back yet again, wincing momentarily and then donning an expression far more sinister. He recovered his stance in a seconds and was glaring daggers at Y/n, completely fed up.
“Oh, you are so dead,” he growled, moving forward with his hands balled up and winding back ready to swing. If he was holding back before, he clearly did not plan to anymore. Y/n stumbled backwards. Before she could remember to tuck her thumbs, a pair of strong arms pulled her out of the way.
“No you are.”
Steve, bloody nose and all, caught Billy’s fist mid-swing and sucker-punched the left side of his face before he could see it coming. Instinctively, Y/n lunged forward and reached for her boyfriend, startled by the injuries already evident on his face.
“Steve!”
While relieved Billy didn’t get the chance to punch her, Y/n did not have time to feel grateful for Steve’s impeccable timing, nor did she have time to watch him get into fight with Billy Hargrove.
Her fingers barely grazed her boyfriends arm before he was following Billy. Y/n stepped back and signalled for the kids to stay out of the way. She knew Steve had had a bone to pick with him ever since he got to Hawkins, so there was no telling where things would go, but something told Y/n it was gonna get ugly. Billy began laughing maniacally, clapping his hands sarcastically before shoving Steve back.
“So you do have a bit of fire in you,” he chuckled. “You know, I’ve been waiting to see the King Steve everyone’s been talking about.”
“Just leave,” Steve hissed, shoving him back just as hard. Billy’s smirk never faltered, despite losing his footing for a split second. Instead, he stood tall and inched forward again, narrowing his eyes at Steve tauntingly, as if testing to see what would set him off.
“Didn’t realise all I had to do was go after his bitch-“
Y/n inhaled sharply. Before Billy could get another word out, Steve was jabbing his face and his torso repeatedly. He could tolerate Billy poking fun at him, but not at Y/n. Never at her.
The kids were back to cheering again, and Y/n was grasping at straws trying to de-escalate, before one of them ended up seriously hurt. Sure, maybe she thought Billy deserved a few sucker-punches to the face, and maybe she didn’t mind if Steve was the one handing them out, but there was a bigger battle at hand and time was not on their side.
The two of them brought their fight into Joyce’s kitchen, where Billy took a plate and smashed it against Steve’s head, giving him the upper hand. Y/n muffled a shriek behind her hand and decided it was time to step in. Billy showed no evident intention of slowing down anytime soon, even with Steve on the floor and him towering over. Y/n sped forward and tried to pull him back like she had done before.
“Billy, get the hell off him!”
Steve was already losing consciousness, but Billy just kept going. Y/n tried to get a good grasp of his arm to yank him back, but he was moving too quickly. He swung his fist back just as Y/n leaned forward again, hitting her in between her eyes and sending her backwards.
“Uhh-“ she groaned as she tried to regain focus. Her ears were ringing and her vision was beginning to blur. The last she remembered was seeing Max’s faint figure come marching in wielding something. Then she lost consciousness for a few minutes.
When Y/n finally did begin to see and hear things clearly, Max had a strange bat in her hands and Billy was lying on the floor with a needle sticking out of the side of his neck.
***
March 31st, 1986
The days following Vecna’s attack on Y/n came by like a series of punches, not giving anyone a chance to recover. From kissing Steve in his bedroom, helping Eddie evade an angry mob and then helping Steve and the kids lie to the police about why they were all at lover’s lake in the middle of the night. Y/n could not wait to have a good night’s sleep again.
Unfortunately, the end was nowhere in sight. Everyone gathered around Nancy in Eddie’s living room as she explained what she saw— what Vecna showed her before she and Robin could leave the upside down. Almost immediately afterwards, a few of them started to discuss what to do next. Y/n, on the other hand, could only think about El.
She left to call the Byers’ house phone, but after twenty minutes of nothing, Y/n started to fear for the worst. She came back to the living room just as Dustin came up with a bright idea about thinking Vecna and his powers as another version of El’s.
“That all sounds great in theory, but we don’t even know when he’s going to attack next,” Robin argued, “we don’t even know who he’s gonna attack next.”
Y/n's breath hitched. Suddenly it was beginning to make sense why she still did not feel like herself again. Though she was definitely much happier than she was when Vecna was first targeting her, she could not definitively say her symptoms were completely gone.
“Yeah we do,” she said, looking up and seeing everyone's eyes glued on hers. Y/n had become accustomed to their worried expressions since recovering from Vecna. She knew they were going to be on the fence on what she was about to propose, one of them in particular
“I can still feel him," Y/n clarified before clearing her throat. "I think… I think I’m still a target. Still cursed.”
The room was silent. Everyone exchanged looks with each other. Everyone but Steve, whose attention never left Y/n. She couldn't be serious, he thought. But she was. If she wasn't before, she was now that she knew El might be involved.
“So, maybe I ditch the Bee Gees. I draw his focus back to me... and I keep him busy long enough so that you guys can get into that attic," she proposed. “Then you can chop his head off… or stab him- I don't know.”
Y/n shrugged her shoulder and finally looked up, meeting everyone's intense gaze. If she was going to do this, it meant they would have only a small window to do what was needed, to kill the son of a bitch once and for all.
“Just try not to miss.”
Steve furrowed his brows. His frustration grew as he looked around and saw everyone seemingly accept that as the official plan. Like there was nothing alarming about sacrificing his girlfriend to Vecna.
“Woah, hold on, time out," he scoffed, walking towards Y/n and taking hold of her hand, pulling her into the kitchen and out of earshot from the other. Y/n sighed, knowing any lecture he was about to give her would be in vain.
“Steve, don’t try to talk me out of this-“
He narrowed his eyes at her incredulously.
“What, so I should just let you get yourself killed?!”
“I’ve dealt with him before,” Y/n pointed out.
“And you were this close to dying,” he argued, holding his index finger and thumb up to show just how narrowly she escaped the same fate as Chrissy and Fred.
“But I’m not dead! I survived that, I can survive this too.”
She had to tell herself that. She had to force herself to believe it too. If not for her own sake, then for the sake of her loved ones, both in and out of Hawkins. The crease between Steve's brows persisted, and Y/n knew she had to get him on board.
“No one in California is picking up the phone. I’ve rang about 5 times already,” she explained shakily. “I have this… this gut feeling that they’re in trouble. And if Nancy’s right-“
“And what if she’s wrong?” Steve questioned, knowing he would never be able to live with himself if Y/n got hurt or died unnecessarily.
“But what if she’s right, Steve?” Y/n sniffled, her eyes brimming with tears. She was not happy about it either— far from it actually, but what other option was there? She pressed further. “I mean, what if me doing this is our best chance at putting an end to all of this?— An end to Vecna?”
He paused for a moment and realised she was right. If they didn’t go after Vecna with their best foot forward, there was no telling where things would go or how many more people he would hurt.
Even so, he still couldn’t bring himself to be ok with it. Steve wanted to find another, any other course of action that didn’t involve putting Y/n’s life in the palm of Vecna’s hands again. He knew his reasoning was selfish, but to hell with it.
“I just got you back, Y/n.”
Y/n sighed, her shoulders slumping and lips pursing to form a frown. A lump formed in the back of her throat as it dawned on her what he meant. She did not just come back from the clutches of Vecna, she came back to Steve and they found their way back to each other. Inching closer to him, Y/n placed her hands against the sides of Steve’s face.
“And I’m not going anywhere,” she murmured reassuringly, before dropping her hands and weaving her fingers with his. “This time is different. We have the upper hand, because I know Vecna’s moves.”
“You do?”
He studied her closely as he traced circles with his thumb against the back of her hand. She shuffled even closer until their hips met and nodded her head.
“I think so,” she answered quietly, thinking back to how she escaped Vecna before, a memory still vivid in her mind. “It’s like he uses my memories— my really bad ones, to make me vulnerable and easier for him to attack.”
It started when she was looking back at the cabin, she remembered. Then she saw her dad and everything got worse. Y/n tried not to reminisce for too long. That wound was still fresh.
“Oh,” Steve muttered beneath his breath before letting out a defeated exhaled. He hated that Y/n went through that, knowing just how bad things were and everything she had been through. He couldn’t stomach the thought of her going through it again just to stall Vecna.
“But when I survived the last time it wasnt just because I heard the song, but because I thought about good memories,” Y/n explained, smiling weakly, knowing that pulling a brave face would be in the best interest. Luckily, she had years of practise doing just that. “Shouldn’t be too hard to do again.”
“What if he does something unexpected?”
“I just think of a really good memory.”
Thankfully, she had a good number of those. Some with her mom and Sara, a lot with El, but most were with Steve. Her eyes locked with his and, without saying it aloud, Y/n knew it was mutually understood.
“But, even if something goes wrong, I’m not worried, because…”
Her eyes never left his. Y/n knew Steve was running out of reasons to be against it, but she also knew that no matter how much of a fight he put up, if she was going to through with being Vecna bait, Steve was going to be right there with her.
“I know you’re not gonna let anything happen to me.”
All she had to worry about was what would happen in her mind nad in Vecna’s territory. She knew Steve would keep her safe in the real world until she was back.
He gave it another moment’s deliberation. In a perfect world, it would not have come down to this, but there was clearly nothing he was going to be able to do to change her mind. Steve sighed.
“Ok.”
Y/n smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. He pulled her closer to him and took the time to appreciate it all— the feeling of her waist beneath his fingertips, her head against the crook of his neck and the smell of her perfume.
He knew it before and he knew it then. Whatever trouble she found herself in, he was always going to be at her side.

April 2nd, 1986 - 6PM
Y/n tested her flashlight a couple times against the doors to the Creel house and then turned back to the the other three. The plan was for her and Steve to lure Vecna out by going inside what was apparently his childhood home, with Erica and Max keeping an eye from the outside, while the others were headed into the upside down.
She had manage to pull a brave face for the last few days, but standing at the doorstep was beginning to test what little bravery Y/n had left.
“Max, you and Erica will be ok on lookout?”
The young girl nodded, "yup, we got it covered.” She then gestured towards Erica who was already setting up base on the front yard. Y/n watched Max head off and turned back to the front door, her hand reaching out to open it only to be stopped by Steve's.
“Wait, um..." He looked at his shoes, then at the door, then at his shoes again, trying to find the right words without putting a damper on morale. He licked his lips and sighed. "Just be careful, please.”
“I will."
Steve continued to hold her hand firmly, his expression beginning to morph from concern to desperation. He knew once they entered the house, there was no going back.
“If you start to feel like something’s wrong, just-“
“Steve. I will," Y/n assured him, knowing where he was going. Just let me know, she presumed.
Y/n did not need to be reminded that Steve had her back and would be ready to step in if things went south. It was already common knowledge to her. However, that was not what Steve was concerned about.
“You don’t need to put yourself on the line anymore than you already are," he croaked, his tone almost pleading. Y/n drew her brows together.
“What do you mean?”
“I know you, Y/n,” Steve whispered. “Don’t do anything reckless.”
Her breath quickened as she met Steve's gaze. Sometimes it felt like he could read her mind. Like he knew she made peace with the chance of not returning if it meant killing Vecna and any plan he had to destroy home and her loved ones.
“This is bigger than just us," Y/n reasoned. Steve kissed his teeth, frustrated. She gripped his hands tighter. "If Nancy’s right about what she saw, the whole of Hawkins could-“
“To hell with this shithole of a town," he scoffed. If the cost came at Y/n's life, it was never going to be worth it to him. Never. Steve narrowed his eyes. "If it comes down to it, I need you to promise me you’re gonna save yourself.”
Y/n froze. No one had ever asked anything like that of her, at least not that she could remember. All her life she had grown used to giving. Her time, her love, her kindness and her patience. There were times she seriously questioned if her selflessness was her primary source of value.
Steve inhaled sharply, trying to keep his composure, as hard as it was. Too much had happened over the last few weeks, much less the last three years. Even so, he knew exactly where his breaking point was, or rather who it rested with.
“Vecna’s taken enough people. And if he takes you too, I don’t-" He shook his head, not daring to finish his sentence for fear it would speak the worst case scenario into existence. Instead, Steve squeezed “Just, please… promise me.”
Y/n nodded, feeling a new and strange sensation in her gut. For so long she had been hyper-fixated on her death- humouring the thought of it, wishing would come sooner and then fearing it would arrive too quickly. Now, all she wanted to do was come back and live to have another burger date with Steve at the lookout and then some.

April 2nd, 1986 - 8PM
Steve and Y/n's first couple of hours in the house were spent wandering around and playing hangman while the Bee Gees played on the cassette they were borrowing from Eddie, until finally they found it.
She signalled for him to turn the music down and, while hesitant, Steve obliged. He gave her space to sit and try and lure Vecna out, but didn't stand too far away. Steve wanted a clear view of his girlfriend so he could begin timing from the moment her eyes turned grey. 15 minutes and the Bee Gees were to be back on and at full volume, not a second delayed.
Y/n sat down, placing her torch in front of her and crossing her legs. She was unsure where to begin. Hey Vecna it's me again, seemed an inappropriate start. She thought back to what he showed her and he said through the image of her dad, the very words that had been weighing heavily on her.
“I’ve been thinking about what you said…."
The dark and horrid words he said and he accusations he made, all of which were too heavy for her to repeat aloud even to Steve. It took her a while to realise why they haunted her so much.
"Because it was true.”
Y/n hated every second of realising it, but there was no denying it anymore. Vecna was just echoing thoughts that already existed in her mind. She took a deep breath in and out. If she needed to make herself vulnerable, she knew just the thing to talk about.
“My dad was a ghost after my mom died," Y/n began, the lump in her throat growing as she continued to remember it.
The police at the doorstep explaining that there had been a car accident, the moment at the hospital, the funeral and the memorial he was too inebriated to show up for.
“He stopped looking after himself. Stopped looking after me. Then, he started drinking all the time, and then... he just became the worst.”
He was a shell of a person who came in and out of the house, most times without saying even a word to his daughter. Even so, Y/n remembered the few nights he came home and lashed out at her for no particular reasons more than she did the nights he said nothing at all. Her anger and resentment grew and grew over time with nowhere to go but inwards.
“It was true, I used to wish I had died when Sara and our mom died," she admitted, her eyes falling down to the floorboards. There was no shame in admitting it anymore. If Vecna infiltrated her mind, he would have already known.
Steve's grip on his torch was beginning to weaken. Y/n had told her bits and pieces of the same story, but never this part. He wondered how she was able to this to herself for as long as she did.
“I felt like- um," Y/n sniffled, briefly wiping her eyes and clearing her throat before continuing. Steve did not like where this was headed. "I felt like maybe, to my dad, I was just a walking reminder of them, and of the fact that they were still gone... Maybe me living was just insult to injury.”
When Hopper did speak to Y/n in the years following his wife and Sara's death, he never called her a walking reminder in plain words. He didn't need to. His actions said more than enough.
“But then my dad sobered up,” Y/n continued, her tone and expression turning bitter. The day she had prayed for for years, and it came in a way that left her even more wounded and angry. “- and he cleared the heavy stuff out from the bathroom cabinet, and I thought things were finally turning around… But he was still awful to me.”
Perhaps not in the same way. Hopper and her talked more often and he did not lash out at her as often as he did before, but he still found a way to neglect her and inadvertently let her know she was both an afterthought and a burden. And it hurt Y/n all the same.
“And so, I guess between that and watching him be a better parent to El, I just… I started to hate him," she confessed. The thought used to terrify her, but Y/n had since come to terms with the fact that there was no other way of putting it. “I hated that he was good to her. I hated how he made me feel like shit, and I hated how everyone praised him for getting clean.”
From the people at the station, at her school and even at the post office. All people saw was a grieving father father turn his life around for his daughters. Y/n resented it and, because of it, she resented her dad even more.
“Then, I started to realise… I hated him so much, I didn’t want him to be around anymore," she squeezed her eyes shut. The thought came to her over time, but when it did it was vivid. “I wanted him gone, so all the pain and anger could go too.”
Y/n wanted that more than anything. The anger and the pain was all she knew for so long, but she didn't want it anymore and didn't know how much longer she could carry it all.
“It got to the point where some nights, I wished my mom and my sister had never died and I wished he had instead. And I told myself that maybe it was ok to think that, because I…”
This was it, she thought to herself. This was what the tipping point.
“I could never imagine my mom doing this to me.”
Steve squeezed his eyes shut. He never knew that- any of it, and it killed him she was only just talking about it now, in the Creel house attic of all places. When he opened his eyes and turned his focus back to Y/n, he realised she was still and silent but her eyes were wide open.
“Y/n?”
He waved his hand in front of her face, hoping for a reaction but there was nothing. Steve let out a huff and began to count in his head, trying not to think too much about whether the entire plan was a massive mistake.
***
April 2nd, 1986 - 9:00PM
The first time Steve took her to the lookout. That was the good memory Y/n held onto and focused in on once she was sure Vecna had come for her. She was inside Steve's BMW when Vecna himself appeared, only to be sent flying backwards into the woods. Y/n got out and scanned the empty parking lot until her eyes landed on a familiar silhouette. She was instantly running towards it.
“Is it really you?”
Her head was shaven and she was dressed in white, but Y/n recognised her El. Her little sister. She placed her hand on the sides of El's face, touching and tugging it, unsure if she really was El or just another illusion.
The younger girl held her big sister's hands and smiled, “it’s me.”
Y/n scrunched her brows together, puzzled. She knew this time would be different, but she never expected to see El.
“How?”
“I piggybacked from a pizza dough freezer.”
The older girl blinked, unsure if it was worth questioning further.
“Are you… are you ok? Are you safe?”
El nodded and Y/n felt instant relief. She glanced back at the woods where Vecna would undoubtedly reappear from anytime soon, then turned back to El. There was a chance they might never see each other again, and Y/n could not get past it or past the one thing she had been dying to say to her- that she know she would regret not saying.
“El, I’m so sorry," Y/n cried, her words spilling out in a panicked hurry. "I’m so sorry for every mean thing I’ve ever done or said to you.”
It was the first few weeks after moved in and the weeks following Hopper's death. Y/n was frustrated, resentful, and angry which resulted in being less than kind to El, who was the least bit deserving of it. She needed her to know she was sorry.
“Y/n stop,” the younger girl pleaded, gripping her sister's arms and shaking her slightly. “Don’t think about it.”
It would only make her more vulnerable to Vecna, which was the last thing El wanted. Besides, she never cared about those moments. El had plenty of moments herself where she was the same to Y/n. The memories El held onto and treasured the most were the times Y/n looked after, cheered her. Those moments outweighed the bad ones by miles.
Y/n shook her head. Maybe it wasn't the best time, but there was a decent likelihood it was her only chance at getting it off her chest.
“I never thought I’d get to have a little sister again," Y/n whispered. "I’m so lucky it was you, El.”
“I’m lucky too," the younger girl responded, not missing a beat.
Before anything more could be said, Y/n was lifted off the ground by dark vine-like tendrils outstretched from the woods where Vecna emerged from and began walking towards El.
“Y/n!”
The young girl screamed and lifted her hands, trying to fight back, but Vecna’s grasp on her sister only tightened. Y/n tried to fight it, but the tendril wrapped around her neck suffocated her windpipes. The last thing she saw was El, fighting with all her might to fend off Vecna. The last thought she had was was of how much she wanted and hoped for El to make it out ok.
Then she lost consciousness.
***
April 3rd, 1986 - 12AM
El was running and searching. Though still haunted by Vecna’s dying words, El could stand to worry about it later. First she needed to find her sister snd make sure was ok. El closed her eyes and focused, then she heard it— the sound of Steve screaming.
She could see where they were. She watched from a distance as Y/n’s levitating body come crashing against the floor beneath her. El started to run, praying Vecna hadn’t done irreparable damage.
There were gashes along her arms and legs and she was unconscious from the fall, but her limbs were still in tact and her eyes were unharmed. El let out a sigh of relief, counting it as a win.
“Y/n, Y/n wake up!”
El watched Steve pull Y/n into his arms and shake her roughly, shout her name and begging her to wake up, but to no avail.
Panicked and desperate, the young girl placed her hand atop Y/n and closed her eyes, chanelling all her focus and power into guiding her big sister back to consciousness, back to her body and back into Steve’s arms.
Y/n’s life flashed before her eyes, only it was the good parts. The best parts. All her best memories with all the people she lived— her sisters, her parents, Steve and everyone in between.
Then she heard the faintest voice whisper to her.
“I’ll see you soon.”
Back in Hawkins, Steve tightened his embrace around his girlfriend’s unconscious figure, tears streaming down his face as he continued to call out Y/n’s name, desperate for her to wake up. The cassette player gave out and there was no telling when the ambulance Max called would arrive at the scene. Steve was willing to try anything, do anything.
“There’s a light,” he croaked, his voice coarse from the screaming and shouting. Even so, he owed to Y/n to keep going. “— a certain kind of light, that never shone on me.”
Y/n fingertips moved first, then her eyes and then lips.
“Steve?”
“Oh my god,” he cried out, tears flooding his eyes as he watched hers slowly blunk open. Relieved, Steve leaned down and kissed her temple fervently. “Oh my god, you’re ok!”
Y/n tried to moved her arms so she could sit up, but with every slight movement came a piercing ache in her bones and a burning sensation against her skin. She sunk back into Steve’s embrace and groaned painfully.
“Max already called for help, an ambulance should be here soon,” he explained.
She took deep breaths and glanced up at Steve, smiling weakly.
“You used to hate singing that song.”
“I think I’ve got a newfound love for it now,” Steve quipped, a faint laugh beneath his breath. That Bee Gees song saved his girlfriend’s life twice now. As far as Steve was concerned, it was the best song in existence.
Y/n’s eyes drifted shut as the energy it took to stay conscious came to be too much. Steve shifted his arms and stroked the side of her face.
“Hey, c’mon… Baby, you need to stay awake.”
She opened her eyes and used all the energy she had to stay alert, but the linger she stayed concious the more time she had to remember what had happened— what Vecna said to El about everything that would happen to Hawkins. Y/n began to pant as tears formed in her eyes.
“It’s not over, Steve,” Y/n whimpered. Vecna may be gone, but they weren’t out of the woods. “It’s not over yet.”
“It’s over for now,” he assured her. Whatever it was was not important. Not to Steve and not in that moment. All that mattered was that she did what she needed to do and she made it back alive.

April 6th, 1986
Y/n placed her last box of donations on the table. The older woman smiled gratefully and passed to one of the volunteers for sorting. She turned back to Y/n, her eyes darting towards the bandges along her arms.
“How are you healing?”
Y/n came to the shelter at the school gym for three reasons: to donte, to volunteer and to get bandages for her injuries.
“It doesn’t hurt or bleed as much.”
“That’s good,” the woman smiled, remembering how much Y/n was in when she came to get her bandages changed the first time. “Just be sure to take it easy until everything fully heals, ok? And come see me if anything gets worse.”
“I will,” Y/n nodded, “— and hey I’ll come by tomorrow with a few others to help out for the day.”
With more and more families turning up seeking shelter or supplies, Y/n knew they could use as many volunteers as they could get. The woman nodded gratefully.
“That would be really great, Y/n. Thanks.”
Y/n turned around and fished her keys out from her bag as she weaved through the cots and headed for the exit. She looked up and saw a young girl sitting next to an older man.
“How long are we gonna be here dad?”
Y/n frowned as she listened in. Seeing the kids that came to the shelter always brought a pain to her chest. She watched the old man wrap his arm around his daughter and sigh.
“I don’t know, bug,” he huffed.
Y/n froze for a brief second, then quickly sped off before anyone nlticed her staring. When she started the car and turned the steering wheel, Y/n’s hands were shaking. She listened to the radio the entire drive home and by the time she reached the driveway, Y/n was thinking about something else.
Y/n parked Steve’s car in front of the cabin. As she got out and approached the front porch, she was puzzled by the strange vehicle parked adjacent to the house.
When she walked inside, she saw Steve sitting on the couch and tossed him his car keys. Then, when she turned towards the kitchen, she saw a woman standing with her back towards her. Y/n’s bag fell from her shoukder and she went racing towards the woman.
“Oh my god, Joyce!”
The woman wrapped her arms around Y/n, hugging her tightly and then letting go so she could get a good look at her.
“Oh, I’m so glad you’re ok,” Joyce smiled, placing her hand against Y/n’s cheek. She had a million burning questions.
“Wh-where’s El? And Will and Jonathan?”
“I-I don’t know,” Joyce answered honestly. “… I was in Russia.”
Y/n blinked, unsure if she heard her correctly. Of all the explanations for not answering the phone when she called before, Y/n was not expecting that to be it.
“You were what? How did you get here then?”
Joyce started grin and patted Y/n’s shoulder, which left her puzzled. There was something going on, but Y/n had a feeling Joyce was not going to outright tell her what it was, and she had no clue what to make of it.
“I’ll tell you later, honey,” the older woman answered, knowing there was something else far more important for Y/n to do. The girl knitted her brows together.
“Why not now?”
Joyce nodded her head towards the door to one of the bedrooms, her smile never faltering, not even for a moment. The woman’s demeanour left Y/n greatly unsettled but also extremely curious.
“There’s someone waiting for you in the room.”

When your dad gets sick you pull away from him. Bottles isn’t sure if it’s a self defence mechanism, if you need the brain space or what. All he knows is that you aren’t around, and that you stop picking up his calls. When he goes past your house, it’s dark and locked up. It goes on for a few weeks. The two of you have only been together a few months but the idea of you in pain wounds him, your absence in his life cuts deep.
When he does catch up with you it’s at the supermarket of all places. It’s ridiculous how something as normal as buying toilet roll can turn into a twist of fate. He isn’t looking where he’s going when he comes around the corner of an aisle, and he bumps into you literally. He knows it’s you before he even registers your face, the recognition is instinctive at this point, he’s attuned to your presence. He catches the scent of your perfume, sensual and soft with a hint of mandarin.
You look tired, your hair is pulled back into messy bun and looks like it hasn’t been washed for days. Your face is gaunt and there’s dark shadows underneath your eyes. You are far from the vibrant girl he knows and loves, and it kills him.
“Talk to me.” He requests his hand coming to rest upon your arm, his thumb chasing over the hollow of your wrist. “As a friend, as a lover, I don’t care what.”
It’s at a table, in the outdoor seating area of the café next door, that the whole thing comes pouring out of you. Your dad’s been sick for a while, longer than you realised and you don’t have time anything else in your life right now.
It had started with him calling you at odd hours to ask when Family Fortunes was on, something that he had never done before. Bottles remembers these phone calls vividly, because they always seemed to occur around a similar time on a Saturday. Your phone would ring and the two of you would look at the clock and he’d say “It’s your dad” without even looking at the call display.
At first you had thought he was just lonely, your job as an events manager kept you busy especially with the Santo Padre Summer Festival on the cards. Then one day you’d popped over and discovered he’d had a mini stroke. He’d lost movement in his left hand, he could barely hold the remote, his memory was shot to shit, and he was asking where your mother was despite the fact, she had passed away five years earlier. It was soul destroying.
You are one of the strongest people he knows, so when you start to cry it breaks something deep down inside of him. He shifts seats to the one alongside of you and wraps his arms around you because this shit is far too much for one person to bear. He holds you close as you sob into his chest, cradling you close.
He knows a thing or two about being exhausted and overwrought, how it feels like a weight bearing down on you. After his father died of an opioid overdose, his mother hadn’t been able to get out of bed for weeks. His relationship with both of his parents had been fraught, but he had spent that time taking care of her. He made sure she ate, that she had company and little by little he’d helped pull her out of the depression until she had started to function again. He knows that this shit isn’t easy. That between your job and caring for your father you’re wearing yourself down, he can see in your eyes how your struggling to cope.
“Let me help.” He asks you. “Please just let me help you.”
He must catch you in a moment of complete weakness because you agree.
The first time Bottles turns up at your father’s house, the old man thinks he’s one of the in-house nurses that he’s managed to run off. There’s been a couple of them so far and none of stuck around more than a few days. After spending a couple of hours with your father he can see why.
He’s a veteran, he used to be a Captain. People like that hate anyone to seeing them vulnerable, so they lash out. Bottles thinks that’s part of the reason he didn’t tell you about the mini stroke in the first place, he didn’t want to shift this burden onto your shoulders.
Albert or rather Bertie, is not kind with his words but Bottles has lived through worse. He’s entire life has been far from a walk in the park and he’s now a Prospect in the Mayans. Your father is a cake walk compared to that. He isn’t sure how it happened but the three of you slip into a routine. You’ve taken as many days as you can away from work, so Bottles steps in to cover the time you’re away. He cooks for Bertie, he helps bathe him, cleans him up and changes the sheets if he doesn’t make it to the bathroom in time, he does as much of the heavy lifting as he can until Bertie starts to get a little better.
When you come home, he shoots out and deals with club business. At night, he curls up around you in your single bed, holding your close and whispering tender words into your ear until you fall sleep, surrounded by Blink 182 posters and Evanescence playing on the C.D player because he’d forgotten that they’d even existed. He switches it up with a couple of Green Day C.Ds after he’s flicked through your collection.
“There’s no money you know.” Bertie tells him one day when the two of them are in the living room watching Family Fortunes. It takes Bottles a minute to understand what he’s saying. “She doesn’t get much if I die. That’s why you’re here isn’t it?”
“I’m not here for the money.” He informs Bertie as he raises to his feet and collects Bertie’s bowl from the tray set across his lap and places it inside his own. “I’m here for her, to make sure she takes care of herself.”
“I used to take care of her and now she takes care of me, how fucked up is that?” Bertie says in a rare moment of clarity. “I fucking hate it.”
Bottles can understand that. Parents are God in the eyes of children, and this is what happens when you realise that they’re just mere mortals like the rest of you. He knows how jarring this whole experience has been for you, and for Bertie. Confronting your own mortality changes you, he knows, he spent his entire childhood, thinking he was going to die every time he went under the knife because a child with a disability wasn’t good enough for his parents. He sets the bowls down on the floor beside his usual chair before sitting down again.
“I had forty-six surgeries by the time I was eighteen,” He confides to Bertie, pulling up his trouser leg and showing your father his scars embedded deep within the tissue of his leg. “Suffering isn’t new to me, you can’t imagine the shit I’ve gone through, and I can’t imagine the shit you are going through but I know what it’s like to feel like your life isn’t your own, to feel frustrated by your own capabilities.”
“I don’t want this for her.” Bertie tells Bottles. “I don’t want her putting her life on hold to take care of me and I don’t want to end up in one of those homes where they feed you gruel and leave you to die alone in a bedroom where the curtains are still drawn because nobody bothered to open them.”
“I hear you.” Bottles says. “It’s fucking depressing.”
“So, what are my options?” Bertie asks him. “I rely on my daughter and her… What even are you?”
Bottles shrugs his shoulders because truthfully the two of you have never really put a label on it. All he knows is he’s committed to you; he has been since the moment he kissed you on your doorstep.
“The man who loves your daughter.”
“Boyfriend? Partner? The guy who hoses me down when I make a mess of myself?”
Bottles finds himself smiling before he shrugs his shoulders.
“All of the above.”
“I’m serious when I’m asking you what my options are.” Bertie informs him, his gaze straying back to the T.V. “I need to start figuring shit out before I start losing my marbles and the decision is taken away from me.”
“I could find out.” Bottles offers as he leans in close. It feels like the two of them are engaging in a conspiracy, because the both of them know that the idea of putting your father in a home is not something you agree with. “One of the guys in my club, his mom has memory issues. She started to fall down a lot. He managed to get her into this sweet place up by the community centre. She loves it there, she’s made a lot of friends, there’s all these clubs she goes too, they do some pretty cool shit. I could look into it for you?”
Bertie reaches across the space between the two of them, his strong hand grasping Bottles’.
“Could you?” Bertie requests before he tilts his head to the bedroom door where you’re sleeping. “I have a feeling we’re gonna have a fight on our hands.”
"I'll talk to her." Bottles promises the older man. "See if we can't all get on the same page."

Invisible string
summary: what happens when you’re in love with your friend? Would something happen? Would there be a perfect occasion? What if you two were predestined?
pairing: Stiles Stilinski x reader (I wrote this thinking of a female reader but I think there isn't any word that imply it)
warnings: some drinking? It’s actually just fluff
word count: 2.7k
a/n: first of all, English isn’t my first language so sorry beforehand if there's any mistake. I obviously did this while I was procrastinating because I thought there are not many Stiles x reader fanfics that are not long series (I think I read all of the ao3 ones) so here I am to contribute and hopefully encourage people to do more because I need them to live. Hope you enjoy it <3
----------------------------------
I remember very clearly the day all started, years ago. You were in Beacon Hills, your hometown, right after the accident. You were in the hospital waiting for news from your parents when you saw the lovely nurse you met before. She was kneeling, trying to calm a kid your age. You walked over there and tried to help.
"Oh, hi sweetheart! This is Stiles. He's having a hard moment, I'll go with you when I finish." the boy stopped crying and opened his eyes, he was met by your comforting smile. He sniffed a little while you introduced yourself.
"Why are you sad?"
"My m-mom, she's very sick."
"I'm sorry to hear that. My parents are here, too. Maybe we could cheer each other. I-If you like of course." your chubby little cheeks turning rosy.
"Sure. That'll be awesome." his eyes were a lot less watery than before.
You too spend all the evening talking and distracting each others from your cruel reality. You really wanted to stay here forever and not confront your life or emotions. But forever seemed like a joke for you after that afternoon and the sweet nurse was coming to you with your aunt. You were sure that meant no good so you took the scarce time with the boy to say goodbye.
"I think they are coming for me, so I've got to go."
"But we were having a great moment." he pouted a little and you couldn't help but smile at him.
"Here." you handed him your bracelet made of gemstones. "If you ever feel panicked again this would help you." The boy looked at the clear and black crystals confused. "The dark ones are obsidian and the other is quartz, my granny told me they would keep away bad energies and attract good ones."
"Thank you very much." He was genuinely happy because, even if it worked or not, he had something to remember you.
"I'll never forget you." as you said this your aunt touched your shoulder and told you that you're going with her. You heard him say something under his breath but you didn't understand it.
Less than an hour later your parents had passed away in the hospital due to the injuries of the car accident. You had to move to the big city with your aunt. Years passed and your aunt found a better job offer in Beacon Hills. That and the delicate health of your grandma made you move back there.
You found yourself being friends with the popular girls of the school which was really strange to you, but they were nice. You also befriend one of his exes, Scott. You didn't want to make them uncomfortable but after a couple of months and some weird shit happening, all of you ended up in the same friend group. You learned that the supernatural existed and you thought the craziest thing that would happen to you here was when you started having a crush on one of your friends.
You lived near Scott, so you went to his house before Stiles picked you two up to the costume party in Lydia's house. You were greeted by his mom, you haven't met her in the couple months knowing him because you only went there a couple of times and she was working.
"Hi, sweetheart! I'm Melissa, you must be Scott's friend." you were paralyzed.
"Y-You-u." your face lost all its color.
"Are you alright?" she asked, reaching for you in case you passed out. You gulped and recovered yourself. When she saw you better she let you in and went for a glass of water.
"I'm sorry. It’s just... You were the nurse that calmed me years ago, the day my parents died."
"Oh, I'm so sorry." she gave you an apologetical look, probably because of the trauma dumping and she not being able to remember you.
"Don't be. It doesn't affect me that much after all these years." she gave you an understanding smile. "I don't know if you remember but there was a boy there with me, his mother was sick. I always wondered what happened to him." In that exact moment Scott entered the kitchen, greeting you.
"Wow, your costume is really cool!"
"You don't know who I am, don't you?"
"Not a single idea, but it's still great."
"Thank you. I'm Padme by the way." you saw his confused look. "From Star Wars?" his face lightened up.
"No chance dude! Stiles is going as one character too!" you blushed, maybe it wasn't a couple one but you'll be matching costumes with the guy you liked.
"They're made for each other." Melissa said in a tone you barely heard because a honk overlapped it.
"That's him, we should get going." Scott made his way to the door while you turned to face his mother.
"I promise I'll tell you about the boy, now go and have fun!" you just met her again but it seemed as if you have known her a long time. You made your way out entering the jeep, not registering the boy at your side until he talked.
"W-Whoa. You're amazingly dressed as Padme." you frowned and turned to look at Stiles. First you notice his eyes wide and lips parted. Then you inspected his costume realizing.
"And you're going a-as Anakin." you surely looked like those cartoons with their eyes out because of the shock.
"What am I missing? Are you guys going like an accidental couple costume or something?" he said laughing but you both faced the windshield with your almost crimson cheeks not laughing at his joke too and he realized.
"No way! You are!" you made yourself little in your seat while you still heard Scott chuckling in the back. Stiles started the engine and his knuckles were white on the steering wheel.
The way was a little uncomfortable, but between their talking, your silence and the music, your desires of drowning stopped. Just when Stiles parked you undid your seatbelt and opened the door.
"See you guys, I'm going to look for Ally and Lyds!" you almost ran until you found them.
"Girls red code!" you said a little too loud when you found them.
"Werewolves?" Allyson asked.
"Oh. No, no. I clearly should've not used those words."
"What is it then?"
"Isn't obvious?" the redhead interfered grinning. "Is a boy red code."
"Did Stiles finally kissed you and you did something stupid like run to us?"
"What? No! He doesn't like me. And why do you think I would mess that up?" that offensive supposition made you almost forget about the matter.
"And I'm black haired. Now go on." she said, rolling her eyes.
"StilesandIareaccidentallydressedasacouplecostume." you took a deep breath after that.
"Oh that." Lydia nudged Allyson.
"What? You knew?"
"I don't know what you're talking about, but I know you've been here long enough to take a shot and there's not even a drop of alcohol in you." you knew they knew something, but you needed that shot.
"Okay, I'll go to the kitchen but we'll talk about it." you went there and took a couple of shots before pouring a drink.
"Hey." you almost poured the cup when you heard his voice.
"Hi." you stopped your actions and took the filled plastic cup in your hand.
"What a coincidence this outfit choice."
"Yeah." you looked over the responsibles of it, even if you didn't know how.
"I mean if you're uncomfortable I have another costume in my house. I can go and change." you saw him looking at the floor and your heart skipped a beat.
"No! I mean, I don't have any issue at all."
"Thank goodness." He looked back at you. "When you ran away from Roscoe I thought you didn't wanna see me all night."
"It was just... Unexpected, but it's kinda nice." you saw the dimple you love appearing in his cheek.
"You look really badass in the Geonosis battle's outfit" he took a step closer.
"You don't look bad yourself, Skywalker" you slightly tugged his dark robe as if you were stretching it. You two were inches apart, your cup long lost on the countertop. He smelled heavenly and his warmth made you lean closer. You could swear he was also inching closer.
"You know, we should do a Star Wars marathon." he pulled apart scratching his nape.
"Yeah, totally." you couldn't help the disappointment slipping between your lips while you gazed at your cup. "You know, this was a lovely chat but I think the girls are waiting for me."
You took your drink and surrounded him, making your way out. You searched for any of your friends until you found someone. Not exactly who you had thought of, but the only one who wasn't inside the house. You sat at Scott's side on the wicker couch near the pool.
"How's it going little pupdawan?"
"You know only Stiles gets those jokes, right?"
"Right. But I was worrying about my friend, so tell me why you're here all alone."
"Nothing, just music sometimes gets too loud when you have super hearing."
"That makes sense."
"And what are you doing here? I doubt you were looking for me."
"Well, I could be!" your mouth opened by the offense.
"Of course, but it's a party. You usually are too drunk to remember anyone." you smacked his shoulder.
"I guess today I'm sober enough." you looked at your drink between your hands and he followed your eyes.
"You don't look in the mood. Is this because of Stiles?" your gaze returned to him, now confused.
"What?"
"I'm a werewolf, I have a pretty good hearing."
"You didn't have to eavesdrop!"
"I didn't want to, is like when you have the TV as noise but they say something that catches your attention." you nodded. "And I also can hear your heartbeat and smell some emotions."
"I guess it's difficult to have some secrets with supernatural friends. So I'm assuming Isaac also knows." It was his turn to nod. "So everyone in the pack knows." you put your head in your hand.
"Except him."
"Except him." your eyes went to the party inside.
"Maybe you should tell him."
"Scott, you're his best friend, you should know that's not gonna work. He's in love with Lydia. He sees me as a friend. That's just giving me false hopes. Like before, I was in the kitchen and he came and I thought he was going to kiss me but he backed out. He probably-"
"He almost kissed you?" he cut off your rambling.
"That's what I'm trying to tell you! He didn't want to kiss me. If he wanted he would have."
"You know what? Wait here." you were confused as you saw him enter the party.
Scott was taking his time so you rested your head on the back of the couch, staring at the stars. You heard the noise of the door closing and supposed it was him until you heard a tapping in the glass. You looked over and saw Scott at the other side of the glass and a very familiar back, knocking the pane.
"Stiles?" he turned around to face you.
"Hey."
"What are you doing here? Why isn't Scott coming?"
"He might have locked us out."
"Why-?" you cut yourself when you realized his not so subtle plan. "Oh my gosh. I'm sorry, this is my fault. I'm going to kill him."
"How could this be your fault? In any case it is mine."
"What? No, I was talking to him about an issue and he decided to handle it on his own."
"Am I the issue? I thought you were cool with the costumes."
"It's not that, it's just... Wait, why do you think this is your fault?"
"I... Uh... He wants me to confront a situation."
"Since we're stuck outside I guess I'm the one you have to confront."
"Kind of."
"So how do you feel, Sti?"
"What do you mean how do I feel?" he looked really nervous.
"I mean that if you have to confront someone is because you're feeling somehow about them, perhaps you're mad at me?"
"What? No, I don't think I could ever get mad at you."
"Then what is it? Did I make something that bothered you?"
"No."
"You don't like something about me? Do I breathe too loudly? I chew too noisily? I laugh too hard?"
"No. No. No. Please stop!" he took your shoulders.
"Is it my rambli-" you were cut again, but this time you didn't mind interruption because he was kissing you.
Stiles was kissing you. After the initial shock you relaxed and let both of your lips melt as if they were one. You thought them fusing would be the sweetest sentence. His hands gently took your face, deepening the kiss, and yours found their perfect spot in his chest. Then both of you slowly pulled away.
"So you had to discuss with me about kisses?" you had the biggest smile which brightened more when you saw his upside-down one.
"I actually wanted to discuss which day you can come over for that marathon. As a date, of course." you touched your lip as if you were thinking while your heart felt like it was on a race.
"How about tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow sounds perfect." and he pecked you.
You were thrilled when you woke up that morning, you were going to have your first date with Stiles. He told you he would go to pick you up, but he needed to pass over Scott's for something his mom made, so you decided to meet there.
"Hey Melissa! Is Stiles here already?"
"Yes, Scott is with him in the kitchen helping him to put the tupperwares in a bag." when you both went there, she called your name.
"Do you want to know what happened to that boy?"
"Oh, yeah. I always worried about how he would be."
"Why don't you ask him?"
"Do you have his number or address or something?"
"What are you talking about?" Stiles' curiosity intervened in your conversation.
"A boy I met when I used to live here. Right when my parents had the accident, he was in the hospital because of his mother's illness and I like to think we bonded. Melissa knows him so I asked about him."
"Wait, you gave him a bracelet?" you were beyond confused.
"Yes, it was made of quartz and-"
"Obsidian." he finished for you.
"How do you-" that's when it clicked to you. "It was you?"
"Yes, he was." Melissa interrupted this time.
"That explains why your name was so familiar!" you always thought you had heard his name before even being so rare, you just couldn't pinpoint where. You two headed out to the jeep to enjoy your date
"So you still got it?" he looked sad when you asked him.
"I wish. It broke the night we went to the forest and Scott was bitten. When we went the day after that I only found some of the crystals."
"I'm sorry, maybe we could do another one. I'm guessing it protected you since all of the supernatural started after." you smiled at him.
"Are you sure you didn't give me something made of rose quartz?"
"It was clear quartz. Do you even know what giving rose quartz means?" you were going to chuckle when he replied.
"Yes, that's why I'm asking." you really were shocked, that was the crystal for love and attraction, he was openly admitting his feelings to you. "That day after I met you, I did some research on crystals." he confessed a little awkwardly, clearly a little embarrassed.
"Wow. That's really sweet, Sti." you kissed his cheek. "So I guess there's nothing I can show you, little padawan."
You two made the way to his home talking about random things and the day before, you even told him the part where you met Scott outside, he laughed at your joke and your heart tightened at the sound.
I love my job, being able to bring two soulmates together, as you two. Making the opportunities happen, like the fact that you two went to the same hospital, you going back to Beacon Hills or even you two choosing the matching costumes. Maybe putting Lydia and Scott in his first full moon was a little far-fetched, but it was worth it. Some people call me Destiny or shorten it to Fate, others say I'm a red thread or even a golden invisible string, but it doesn't matter who I am, the only important thing is you two finally being with each other.

a/n: I almost forgot to mention that this was inspired Taylor Swift’s song ‘Invisible string’ :)

Mamma Masterlist
Over Too Soon
September 2019
I have always wanted to be a mother. To have a family like Quinn's, where the family is loving and goofy and loud. But I never planned on having a baby now. I was going to wait until after I graduated. Till after Quinn was settled in Vancouver. He's only been there for a few months, he's still a rookie.
I had no reason to even think I was pregnant until my friend in nursing suggested it as a joke. You've been sick a while Ruthie, you sure you're not pregnant?
This appointment had been made already, Quinn getting concerned with how long I'd been sick and forcing me to go. But instead of chuckling and saying no when asked if there was any chance I was pregnant, I just explained how unsure I was.
"Congratulations!" There's my answer. "You're about sixteen weeks along, I'm surprised you didn't come in sooner!"
"I- I had just thought it was a nasty cold. I spend a lot of time in hockey arenas so it wouldn't have been the first," I mumble out as an answer.
The nurses smile dims slightly, looking over my nerve wracked features. "There's also options other than keeping the baby."
"Oh, no," I mumble, looking up. "I'm keeping her."
"Would you like to know the baby's gender while you're here? Get two bird with one stone?" She offers at my use of the word her.
I can't help but smile, nodding yes as she looks around the sonogram, letting out a quiet aw when she finds what she's looking for.
"Congrats Mamma, your intuition was right, she's a girl."
"Quinn?" I ask, hearing the door to his apartment open and close as I finish up folding our laundry.
"Yeah, it's me," His voice returns, followed by his body as he meets me in the living room, dropping his gear by the door. I stopped by the store today, grabbing a onesie to mix in with our laundry and show to him, and I'm about to untuck it from under my favorite of his hoodies, he sighs, and it's the heaviest I've ever heard.
"Q, what's wrong? Did something happen at practice?" I question, tucking the onesie in my pocket as I move to his side, wrapping my arms around his waist.
"I- I think we need to talk," he responds, rather than hugging me back, making me pull back and step back just slightly, enough to look up at him.
"You... okay, what's going on? Cause you know what that phrase always means," I offer with an awkward laugh, although he doesn't laugh with me. "Okay, now you're scaring me, Quinn."
"Ruth, I think we should break up."
Now I'm taking a large step back.
"You what?"
"We need to break up," He says this time, barely making eye contact with me as he leans against the counter. "I'm moving into a longer term apartment soon and I just want a fresh start when I do."
"You want a fresh start?" I can't help but laugh, the tears coming to my eyes. "That's hilarious."
"It's not. It's a valid need," He tries to reason, although the onesie in my pocket is weighing down my entire being.
"I- I can't believe you, Quinn."
"I'm going to need you to Ruth, this is whats best for both of us, you'll see."
"Mom?"
"Quinn, what's wrong? It's late and you sound like you're crying?" Ellen's voice rings through the phone.
"I did it. I broke up with her. And she just stormed out."
"Stormed out?" The mother questions, "What did you say to her?"
"What I needed to so that she can move on with her life."

so like with my immortal volo au (Eternal Customer Service AU) i am planning alot for most of it to be obvi takin place in the present but i had some ideas for Volos life before all the events take place and i would like to share them
He realized he was immortal like 60 years into immortality when brushing a pokemon (im thinking maybe eevee or an evolution but that doesnt matter too much) and joking about its white furs before remembering humans are supposed to age too. He spent his life trying to cope and hide away.
He essentially raised an orphaned Cogita, her death after the events of Arceus leading to him leaving Hisui. (she was 108, living a long time due to a blessing from Arceus when she was young. She was apart of a prophecy to help Rei/Akari and needed to live long enough to help them)
1873
Somepoint after the fight with Rei/Akari he shelters himself from society in fear of what he had done, eventually catching the Alpha Ninetales on Firespit.
(around a few months after rei will have gone home and Volo would go see Cogita to tell her he was planning to travel out of region, only to see her on her death bed. He got to spend her last moments with her.)
1888
he is in Hoenn, simply wandering around (and helping with the whole customer service stuff he has too.) his pokemon are growing old.
1892
Roserade is wilting, his poison growing barely able to put Volo to sleep on restless nights.
1899
Volo moves to Johto.
Arcanine is sick, hardly having the strength to eat. She always tries her hardest to make sure the team is warm.
1909
Volo moves to Kanto.
Lucario tires himself out trying to protect the campsite. He cant even sense when Volo comes back anymore.
1913
Volo moves to Kalos. He can't help but feel like he should check on a person while there.
Garchomp isn't allowed to fight anymore, not since his bones grew so brittle he broke a fin when helping Volo climb a rocky hill.
1915
Spiritomb is fine. He is whispering.
1917
Ninetales is fine. She is scared of the whispers. She worries for her family.
1923
Volo moves to Alola. He gets a job as a clerk in a clothing shop, Hau'oli City.
1925
Togekiss.
She is trying her hardest.
She doesn't want to let go.
She doesn't want to leave Volo.
She loves him.
He loves her.
But she will be lost soon.
1926
One night, he goes for a stroll on a beach. Togekiss follows. Volo sits in the sand and cradles her.
A young Nurse working in a nearby center notices him. She goes outside to check on him.
All she sees is a crying man and his friend who is now long gone.
Not the first Volo will ever lose, but the one that will hurt the most.
Spiritomb and Ninetales are all he has left to remember Hisui.
1994
Volo has an encounter with a young man who goes by Looker. He claims to be a rookie Interpol agent. Looker was assigned to find a man who in Alola hadn't aged for over 70 years. There are plenty of rumors stirring up, and he was sent to investigate.
Volo is taken in by Interpol after a few investigations.
They give him an ID that entitles him to have help from them whenever needed.
1998
Volo moves to Galar.
Terrifying.
2000
Volo moves in Paldea.
He reads up on events.
He attends the Academy for a while.
2016
Volo settles in Unova.
It is there he will stay.
In order to avoid suspicion, he moves from city to city every few years, working in Coffee shops.
2018
He now lives in Nimbasa.
News of a local celebrity going missing is rampant.
Volo does not bother to care much.
2020
He catches a Gothorita he named Rose. She seems attached to him, yet still opposed toward.
2022
A man comes into the Coffee shop. He is familiar to Volo, but in a way still not. Perhaps he knew this mans ancestor.
The man says his name is Emmet.
