Next up is my favorite, Matt!

Wow what a cool guy.

So, Matt is usually described as a loner, Tai's rival, and the Angsty Cool Guy. None of these actually describe who he is, so let's dive into that.

1. Loner. Matt isn't a loner, he's lonely. Big difference. He keeps others at a very long arm's length as a self-preservation mechanism; due to his parents' divorce basically breaking his little heart at a really young age. He learned then that other people could hurt him by leaving, and decided from then on he wouldn't give them the opportunity to hurt him. His loneliness is so deeply rooted that it's interpreted by others as aloofness, while he is only 11 years old. Like damn wtf

2. Tai's rival. Outside of the Cherrymon incident, which was just good ol' manipulation to get the two most powerful Digimon in the group to fight, Matt was really only considered Tai's rival in early promotional stuff that had a little bio for each character. Matt likely gets interpreted as Tai's rival because they fight a lot, but it's not that simple. Matt doesn't want to compete with Tai, he doesn't want to be the leader. He butts heads with Tai because they're basically opposites. Matt is acutely aware of the group's feelings and needs, while Tai remains laser-focused on the goal at hand. This dynamic isn't like Ash vs Gary, where they're actively competing with each other. Matt gets frustrated with Tai very easily, and he feels things so intensely that he can't really help but blow up.

3. Cool Guy. Let's get one thing straight, this kid right here is not cool. This was more of a thing in the dub iirc, but regardless, his attitude is just a cover to keep people from getting too close. Hell, it takes Gabumon a few episodes longer than the other Digimon to really get close to Matt; before that point, Matt certainly isn't a total dick to Gabumon, but he isn't fully trusting yet either.

Matt's relationship with TK is an interesting one. He feels like it's his sole purpose to protect TK, not just from monsters but from anything unpleasant in life. All of the familial love and affection he gets comes from TK so it's understandable why he would feel this way.

One complaint I often hear about Matt is that his breakdown in the Dark Masters arc when TK gets kidnapped by Puppetmon is way overblown, that he wouldn't normally react that way. He left TK at the amusement park during Weregarurumon's Diner, and when he couldn't immediately leave he didn't break down like that.

The difference in these situations is obvious if you pay close attention. First of all, from the time the kids get up on the day Bakemon raid Odaiba to when they're back at the digital world and split up after talking to Homeostasis, is all one day. It feels much longer because of how many episodes that is, but they're all on at least 24 hours without sleep or taking a break. Also, keep in mind that Matt woke up earlier than the others, before sunrise, as his dad got him and Gabumon to the warehouse to keep them from getting abducted by the Bakemon.

Second, in that span of time the kids have all realized what they're up against. They've lost Wizardmon, Chuumon, Piximon, and Whamon in quick succession, the last three to the Dark Masters. Learning that his little brother has now been captured by one of these Dark Masters would lead Matt to fearing the worst.

Then there's the big fight he had with Tai just prior to the breakdown. He accused Tai of being obsessed with fighting and ignoring the others' grief at the loss of their Digimon friends. By the time he and TK are in the tree with their Digimon, he's already showing signs of wanting to break away from the group, saying that they don't need the others.

Matt also feels that his growth is stagnant compared to the others; this is untrue, as Gabumon would not be able to digivolve to higher levels if Matt wasn't growing and changing. But his self-image is so damaged that he always sees the negative aspects of his personality when comparing himself to his peers.

And of course we have to talk about the Dark Cave. Because of how the Digital World operates, Matt's depression materializes and manifests as a cave that he can't escape until he comes to terms with it. Obviously this quick recovery from a depression spiral is not based in reality, but this is an episodic kid's show so I'm surprised we even got this much.

Matt's experience in the cave is one that a lot of people who have dealt with depression and loneliness can relate to. He says he wants to be alone, but Gabumon calls him out on that and makes him realize that isn't what he wants, actually. He wants to be more open with people, he's just under the impression that he's not really important, not wanted, so it's better off to just not even try. His relationship with his mother is highly strained because of the divorce, and because he has an overwhelming sense of loyalty he probably feels he has to be cold to her for his father's sake.

As for his father, Hiroaki is at work more often than not. Every time we see Hiroaki and Matt interact, Hiroaki is either brisk and business-like or even annoyed; when Matt meets up with him at the TV station, Hiroaki is angry that he didn't stay hidden. Obviously this is out of concern for his son, but still. A moment later, when TK shows up, suddenly Hiroaki is much softer in speaking. So I imagine that this dynamic would also have an impact on Matt's mental health; his dad is almost always at work, and when we do see him with his dad, Hiroaki is a bit tough with him.

But it isn't all sad times and angst with Matt. He loves music, later forming a popular band in middle school and high school. Once he realizes that he can open up to people, and they won't intentionally hurt him, he's able to create real, lasting relationships that aren't based on the cold exterior he uses to protect himself. It's clear that he needed to learn to let others in, and once he did learn that, he becomes much happier and more willing to open up and let those walls down. Even if it's just a little bit.

All right, i decided on a whim to share a rough reference i use in my head of what teenage Ant looks like. Depending on what story or AU I’m writing a teenage Ant for, his appearance changes, but for this one we’ll say it’s my ‘canon’ version of him. Rather, the teenage Ant I have in my head following my internal interpretation of the canon timeline as it takes forever for new seasons to come out, but that I make sure to update as we get new seasons. Also involving a lot of my headcanons for him, most of which explain certain things about either his appearance or mental health, cause our boy is TRAUMATIZED.

Ant is about sixteen to seventeen here, the typical age for teenage main heroes. Except he has already been through being the main hero and is a little sick of it. Or maybe a lot sick of it. A few years prior to where he is in the drawing, the prophecy ends. After defeating the Monumentials and saving the earth from what would have been a devastating rampage, Ant tried to pretend that everything was okay and normal for a while. You know, blocking all of his trauma and acting like nothing’s wrong as is the norm from teenage protagonists. After a while though, Ant realizes that his lifestyle was never really normal to begin with. Ant has a bit of a metal breakdown, not on par with the one Alpheus had or anything, but he has a meltdown when trying to go back to his normal life fails and he realizes he wants a break from everything. From all the families missions and all the adrenaline they experience on a weekly basis and all the danger he hasn’t realized he’s experienced for a majority of his childhood. Fontaine feels guilty for being so proud of her little brother wanting to do normal, not-submarine things, and so Ant starts his own little journey of doing things beyond the titanium hull of the Aronnax.

Now that I’ve gotten the mini bio, or whatever that was, done, time for the headcanons!

- Ant joined his sister in begging their parents to let them try land school, and ultimately Kaiko and Will caved, due to everything the family had just been through. Fontaine went straight to high school while Ant did a year of middle school due to age before moving to high school, with both kids using Kaiko’s maiden name at Ants request. This was because while Ant didn’t hate being a Nekton and was proud of his name, he didn’t want to attract any sort of attention at all. Fontaine wasn’t immediately thrilled by it, but didn’t complain either.

- Ant ended up growing his hair out a bit, and started wearing a beanie as well. He’d alternate how he wore his hair, sometimes keeping it back but usually having it in a sort of half-up half-down style. Mostly because he didn’t want to try to hard with his appearance, and wanted to try something a little different to what he used to wear all the time. (I usually draw adult Ant with longer hair too)

- Ant got his ears pierced when he was fifteen, deciding on a whim that he wanted to. Fontaine was the one who ultimately took him, leaping at the opportunity. He still wears his communicator all the time, but Fontaine convinced him to try a few other bracelets as well.

- After Ants meltdown, he decided to try and separate himself from most of his childhood as much as possible. Not necessarily in a negative way, but more in a manner of trying to find stuff outside of submarine life. Ant felt he didn’t have too many hobbies outside of anything that came in handy with working and living on a submarine, and so started trying out all sorts of activities to find other things he liked to do. This was another thing Fontaine was eager to jump on board with. He still goes out in the Shadow Knight, and he still loves swimming and working on the Aronnax with Kaiko, but he doesn’t spend nearly as much time doing these things as he did when he was younger.

- Another aspect about Ant trying to branch away from submarine life is his clothing. He didn’t wear casual clothes too much as a kid, almost always wearing a wetsuit. As an older teenager, Ant doesn’t wear his wetsuit too much anymore. He has one, and he does use it, but not nearly as often as a kid. He tries to focus on finding a style he likes, which Fontaine is also ecstatic about. Doesn’t always agree with what he picks out, but she’s super excited nonetheless

-As Ant gets older, he starts to develop some more of Kaiko’s features. Ant always felt, to me, like someone where you knew he was Kaiko and Wills kid, but you never saw any similarities until you put him right in between his parents. As Ant gets older though, he starts to lose baby fat and looks a little more discernibly like his parents, especially Kaiko whom he subtly looks more like in regard to facial structure. (Fontaine is, like, a perfect blend of her parents in my opinion. Ant somehow looks exactly like and nothing like either of his parents in the show)

- Ant starts to develop a bit of muscle as a teenager. He’s not Will, and never does get that muscular, but he’s a teenage boy and that sort of thing just tends to happen to teenage boys. He’s still fairly active as well, which helps. His hair also gets a bit thicker because of puberty, and a tiny bit wavy. Not enough to be actually noticeably though, at least until it gets humid out.

- Ant didn’t grow too much between the ages of twelve and fourteen, but then started shooting straight up at fifteen. Will jokes that it’s all the growth spurts he missed in his early teenage years hitting him all at once. This however leads to Ants usual perfect balance due to life on sea being royally screwed up as his center of balance continues to change makes him abnormally clumsy over the next few years until he stops growing so fast at eighteen/nineteen. Being so clumsy leads to a few accidents, like the one that gave him a scar in his eyebrow. Ant usually doesn’t tell people how he got the scar, cause it’s embarrassing to him after spending so long on the ocean. During a summer between school years, the Nektons were on the Aronnax, and Kaiko just gently tipped the Aronnax into a dive. Nothing Ant shouldn’t have been unable to adjust to with ease. Instead, he slid on the floor, lost his balance, and went tumbling down the hall and crashing into a random room with an unfortunate door open where he wound up twisting his ankle, breaking his nose, and cutting his eyebrow deep enough to scar.

- In line with the prior note, Ant has some scars from all the adventures his family has been on. Fontaine does as well, and these only drive home how desperately they want to experience some sort of normalcy, despite still loving their life on the Aronnax.

- Ants clothing style tends to reflect his mental state; how well he’s doing, if anything’s bothering him, that sort of thing.

I’m sure i have plenty other headcanons, but my brain’s struggling to focus on anything new, so here ya go.

MY MHA AU!!! This is only some and not set in stone, probably will be changed and edited and added to.

1: Aizawa either adopted or is bio related to Sero and Hitoshi bc they were both born in June and r both canonically the same height.

2: The Aizawa-Yamadas and Iidas are family friends and Sero has know Iida basically his whole life.

3: Sero and Iida are lovers.

4: Before and after they got together, Iida would have orange juice ready on the dorms counter for Sero bc bros down bad.

5: Sero has a mini fridge in his dorm room and it is against dorm rules. He actively defies this and A) Aizawa is his dad and don’t give a shit, and B) Iida knows about it but is too down bad to try and rat him out.

6: Sero is NB and uses He/They.

7: Sero and Shinsou were both AFAB (assigned female at birth) and very much bond over this fact.

8: Iida had an extreme amount of internalized homophobia. He would never condemn his classmates for being and form of queer ever because he loves them, but doesn’t feel like he is allowed to be any flavor of queer

9: Sero has Hispanic roots. I like to think he had a Hispanic mother who raised him for a couple years before dumping him on Aizawa and Yamada.

10: Sero’s quirk gives him a slight resistance to venoms and poisons because of its resemblance to spiders.

11: Sero is a very sad person and they hide a FUCK TON of self deprecating feelings behind their ever present smile.

12: Shinsou is a major Seroiida cock block for shits and giggles but also wants them to shut the fuck up and kiss already.

13: Shinsou and Iida r friends because they grew up together (see headcannon 2).

14: Sero is a flavor of ace<3 same with Shinsou but undecided.

15: Both Sero and Iida have mommy issues. Sero’s mom took care of him until a little before high school when they came out to her. She shoved him to Aizawa and her whole side of his family abandoned them.

16: (Continued from 15) Iida’s mommy issues stem from his mom being extremely insensitive, overbearing, and actively making anyone he dated feel like shit. Including Sero. Iida’s dad didn’t do much to stop his mother, instead enabling her, so Iida started living with Tensei.

17: (Continued from 16) Tensei was treated with the same overbearing treatment that Iida was, but a bit less. When their parents saw how well Tensei did and decided to be more overbearing on Tenya to get a better result. Instead, it just kinda… breaks him? A bit?

18: Sero’s saliva neutralizes their tape’s stickiness. They can also decide to make their tape one or double sided. The tape doesn’t stick to their skin, but he does have a good grip when he holds it.

19: Sero’s skin is just slightly sticky. Not rlly the gross kind, but kinda grippy. His sweat amplifies his stickiness. This is useful for climbing and such, but it also sticks to them. This means if they fold their arms while really sweaty for about a second or two, they will stick together a bit. Pulling them apart makes their skin raw.

20: Sero’s saliva also works on the sweat.

21: Tenya tends to shut down and not talk when he feels stressed or overwhelmed. He cuts off his emotions at the source to keep from getting overstimulated and when he doesn’t have the time or energy to feel.

22:Tensei is the opposite of Tenya, in that he clings to those close to him and feels everything over the empty feelings.

23: Rich kid trio (Momo, Shouto, Tenya) are very close pre cannon and Momo decides to “adopt” both of them the minute she realizes that their parents were absolutely dog shit. She knows how to get both of them to open up.

24: Momo is the rich kid with the best parents. They are a bit overbearing and pushy, but she knows they mean well and genuinely care about her a lot.

25: Similar to Tenya, Shouto shuts down and doesn’t talk about his feelings, but he’s also much easier to get to open back up (specifically by Momo and Midoriya).

We're skipping the Todorokis lmao we talk about them ENOUGH. So does Canon!

Not going to say much on Izuku's family because, again, talked about enough both in Canon and here. I will say that while I talk abotu vtuber!Inko a lot, her main job is a nurse.

Won't say much on Katsuki's either because we know them pretty well but I will say that I narrowed down their jobs so Mitsuki is a model and Masaru is a photographer and yes they work together a lot.

okay on to ones who are more only seen in CC:

Ochako - we see her parents a little and know they own a construction business. They're real sweet and were actually trying really hard to keep Ochako from realizing that they didn't have a lot of money but whoops. I think I want at least one of them to have a Quirk connected to construction work but idk what other than maybe changing the weight of things.

Kirishima - I don't have names for his moms but we did decide their Quirks! One has retractable claw nails(think Lust from FMA) and the other has indestructible skin. Despite this, it's a complete coincidence that Kiri has the Quirk he does because he's adopted. Also Tetsutetsu is his twin who got separated when they were given up for adoption. I have a few thoughts on their bio mom, one being that she gave them up for adoption because she was still a teenager and the other being that her Quirk involves turning her body into crystal. Nothing on the bio dad tho

Denki - I gave him a half-sister! Raiden Dentasu aka Pro Hero Voltage! Based off a character that appears for all of ten seconds in one of the movies. They share a bio dad who is unfortunately a habitual adulterer who trades in for a younger wife every decade or so. Their moms are nice though and will probably be getting along now that Denki and Raiden properly met!

Iida - We know bits and pieces about his family, mostly just their career and rep. But I will say that his parents are very much in love. Like super 'acts like they're high school sweet hearts with cute pet names and flirting and making their kids gag and complain that they're 'embarrassing' and by god do they have a healthy sex life' in love.

Tsu - we know some about her family in that they're all frog/toad Quirks and her parents are pretty nice! That said they did rely on parentifying Tsu a bit too much. (They start to realize this now that Tsu is off at UA and they realize they're a little lost on the younger kids' daily routines). The younger kids don't quite get this and just think adults are silly, but they love each other all the same!

Mina - Her family is a bunch of acid quirks to different degrees! Also she and Katsuki are like second cousins.

Jiro - Her parents are both musicians! Not full on famous rockstars, but they do well as a local band. While Jiro inherited her mother's Quirk, her father is Quirkless.

Momo - Well we know her family is loaded af! The money comes from her father's side of the family (while her mother wasn't exactly 'poor', she was a much lower class). Her parents are very good if quite over-indulgent. I sort of gave her an older sister! Well, technically it's her cousin that her parents adopted after that side of the family died. But ya know.

Fumikage and Eimi - their parents are very ride or die. Oh our kids want to pretend to be one person to get into school? Yeah lets cover for them. Their mom has the bird Quirk, and their dad has a shadow puppet Quirk

Aoyama - his parents are outwardly very nice to people and especially doting to him! But their wealth comes from shady sources.

Bonus members:

Himiko - GOD HER FUCKIN PARENTS. They suck. I will say that her mom has a 'consume things of that color to change her hair color' Quirk. Also Amajiki is her cousin.

Shinso - mmmmmmmm this one is in some spoiler territory but his bio mom gave him up for adoption because she REALLY doesn't trust her employers. He has a half-brother that he's met but neither is aware of this fact. Their shared bio dad is an oc who is the biggest bastard I have ever had the misfortune of creating I can't wait for this bitch to kill him. Because I've been influenced by fanfics Shinso is currently dealing with questionably shitty foster homes but we're gonna fix that real soon.

I don't have many thoughts on the rest of the class other than canon lore tidbits or just that they /have/ parents.

Btw I love the idea of Kane being the result of an affair. The ANGST. If Kane was, what do think would happen if the news broke out? (Presumably when he's already an adult)

yeah, in any human au, that's his stigma instead of no persuasion! as for regular ol' vampire kane... the world will never know.

if it WAS explicitly canon that kane is an affair baby and people DID find out (when kane is an adult, i assume pre-whump), kane would give up in his quest for parental approval... at first. between this and the no persuasion, he knows it's over. hes disowned in all but name. he contemplates suicide but decides against it.

but then he's like hey... i've got a whole other dad out there. and immediately sets his sights on him. luckily, juliano is a lot more chill. he's pretty neutral on kane- never wanted or expected kids, is glad kane's already grown up when juliano learned kane exists. he thinks kane is A Little Too Intense but will hang out with him a bit anyway. kane prob becomes less intense by virtue of 1. trying to conform to what he thinks juliano wants and 2. having a meaningful connection in his life and experiencing happiness.

juliano doesn't see humans as people, but he also doesn't care if kane can control his human or not. juliano doesn't have persuasion, a fact that's only revealed after kane brings him home and he tries it on jim. this evokes mixed feelings in kane- bitterness that juliano cursed him with this, and a desperate joy at not being alone or judged.

jim's life gets easier. kane isn't trying to fit a standard anymore and is less bitter/angry, so he eases up on jim. when jim eventually manages his escape, kane just kinda lets him go. no ankles threat. just stares at him out the sunlit door and says "okay. you win, i guess." realizing he doesn't care anymore. he's not gonna help jim escape, but won't run after him.

kane ends up reconnecting with bellamy too. lives a much happier life, not harming humans anymore, without ever being tortured. jim has a lot less paranoia post-escape. overall just way better for everyone involved.

hey guys! basically i'm deciding to make a riordanverse oc, so here's some info abt them!

name : eros castiel park age : 14 when he first gets to camp half-blood, currently around 15/16 birthday : august 19th (not my irl b-day yall) gender + pronouns : agender (bio male) uses he/him (they/them is ok too) sexuality + romantic orientation : bisexual/biromantic parentage : godly parent is aphrodite, and lived with his mom. i believe either they we're in a wlw relationship, or aphrodite presented as a guy. anyways, he's a mama's boy, not as much as percy, but still a mamas boy. possibly a legacy of apollo, from his moms side obviously. nationality + race + ethnicity : american, wasian, korean/white (closer to his asian roots though) battle weapon of choice : morning star! (check it out they r so cool) it comes in the form of a ring that the spins, then it becomes the weapon. friends/relations at camp : i think he'd be good friends with leo. they are pretty similar, and i think they'd get along. he probably liked leo at some point, but realized they we're better off as friends. i'll give him a partner later not, just not now. also his best friend, sage (she/her, child of apollo). probably friends with piper too then? where he's from : born and raised in colorado! he loves the snow during christmas time! and honestly, he really hates nyc.

getting to camp half-blood/claiming story : he can't charmspeak, but he could shape shift minor aspects of his physical self. he grew up in a family where they didn't have to worry about not being able to eat, but money was still tight. he would take on a job after school and would steal to get things for his little sister (she's about 10, maybe she'll be a demigod too, like thalia and jason?). when he turned 14, and he was out with his friends, sage and a saytr (named elios) when they got attacked while inside a starbucks. before he left, he stopped by his moms place and she already knew. she was a seer. she gave him that ring before, and they left to camp. both eros and sage we're quickly claimed.

other information: i might use this oc as a background character/filler character in fics, also if you wanna ask you can send a ask for them and ask abt something!

i feel like nico is someone he'd wanna be friends with, but nico gets slightly triggered from the whole split incident, so he usually avoids eros (after all, they have the same name). eros feels guilty after finding out his namesake (doesn't know this is why nico doesn't interact wit him) and tries to help others with romance. even some other aphrodite kids think of him odd.

idk how jason would feel. since he knows abt split, i feel like he'd be uncomfortable and protective of nico, but at the same time, offers a "second chance" typa thing

alright, here's the final installment of the sukka kiddos!! check out the other parts first! i used this picrew to design the characters. let's do it!

Baatar: (yes i know i could have used an actual photo from the show for him but it was fun to make a young version of him) seventh born. sukka's first son. he had a super close relationship with his mom, Suki, but also got Sokka's love of inventing and engineering. in a family of big personalities, studious and responsible Baatar sometimes falls through the cracks. he doesn't mind though, really, he's a very private person, and in such a big family, treasures his alone time. while the family lived in Republic City he became good friends with Suyin Beifong (and maybe had a bit of a crush on her). after she left the city, they stayed in touch through letters. Eventually, when she decided to start Zaofu, she remembered Baatar's architectural expertise and hired him, the two eventually falling in love and getting married

Senna: eight born. although Senna is a waterbender, she never particularly felt called to do much with it. after all, her parents are The nonbenders of the century. she did however always feel very connected to the SWT, moving there as soon as she was old enough to be on her own. her kind, caring, and supportive personality eventually captured the heart of a banished prince of the NWT, Tonraq. they settled down together for a quiet life of their own, neither of them expecting to become the parents of the Avatar

Iknik (Varrick): ninth born. Iknik always loved hearing the crazy tales of his parents' youth. only too late did they realize he was taking notes. determined to make something of himself, Iknik skipped town at around 16 years old. he didn't want to use his parents' name as his claim to fame, he wanted to make himself famous all on his own, so he elected to start going by one of his middle names, Varrick. we all know how that ended up. he has Sokka's inventing genius, slightly corrupted by fame and fortune

Kio: tenth born. as the youngest of the family for quite a while, most would expect Kio to be rather spoiled. however, he ended up being very down to earth, always with a kind word and advice to spare, usually over a cup of tea. he has always been interested in cultural history and preservation, and eventually opens up an antique store in Republic City, where he can talk your ears off for hours about the artifacts

Kolla: eleventh born. Kolla has always looked up to her parents and her eldest sister, Yuki. with their 23 year age difference, by the time Yuki was ready to step down as leader of the Kyoshi warriors, Kolla was waiting to pick up that mantel. she's headstrong and brave, and an excellent leader

Hakoda 'Koda': baby number 12. (he is meant to have a white stripe in his hair, but i couldn't do that with this picrew). due to his rough start to life, Koda was rather slow to grow and develop, leading to him being a bit more frail and shy than any of his siblings. he was always a total mama's boy, spending his young days clinging to Suki's side. he is an extremely powerful waterbender, and had to put in a lot of work to control and develop his skill. he's a quiet person, but determined and hardworking. he eventually started a waterbending school in the SWT, helping to teach young waterbenders with his calm and patient personality

no, your eyes don't deceive you, there was a picture of Frank's namesake/faceclaim here but for consistency's sake, I decided to just cave and make his in-game model.

Franklin "Frank" Baptiste

Personality: Frank is too kind for his own good. Even as a Saint he is incredibly generous and loving to those he holds close. He was a really sensitive kid growing up and definitely had to harden due to circumstances in his life - one namely being joining the Saints. Still though, he feels his emotions deeply and often keeps them to himself. He's very quiet and only speaks when he has something to say.

Bio:

Life Before Saints:

Frank was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up there for the first 7 years of his life. He was teased in school for being sensitive and, at that point, never really defended himself. His parents divorced when he was 5 and his younger brother, Demetrius (Meech) was born. In Atlanta, his father met Xixi's aunt and quickly had Frank's youngest brother, Louis. When Frank was 7 and Louis was about 6 months old, his father and step-mother made the decision to move to Stilwater to be with her family. Due to the incessant bullying and teasing, Frank went with him and Meech, practically attached at the hip to his big brother, also decided to leave. After leaving, Frank does not speak much to his mother.

In Stilwater things weren't much different and Frank was fed up. He began to defend himself which landed him in trouble with everyone but his father. There seemed to be this unspoken understanding with his father that Frank would not fully understand until later.

As he got older, he also became an older brother figure to Xixi. The two were incredibly close growing up and Frank often called her his baby, though he has only been told this by other family and does not remember it himself.

Adolescence/Disillusion with Stilwater:

Now much older, Frank was able to see Stilwater for what it is. He namely saw its issue with gang violence. He hated the way people stressed over colors, hated the way he would get jumped just for being friends with someone from a specific gang. Still, he tries his best to fit in with whoever he hangs out with at the time. He becomes a chameleon and a shell of himself - this he detests above all.

Meeting Julius Little:

Before fully joining the Saints, he meets Julius. And at first, Julius stands for everything he is frustrated with in Stilwater. The Saints are just one more color to stress over, but Julius begins to work him. He sees something in Frank and over time he somehow convinces him that the Saints are different. Are better. It takes Julius a year-and-a-half. When Frank is 18-years-old, he joins the Saints.

Summer Romance:

During his first two summers as a Saint, Frank engages in a fling with a boy in the gang which he refuses to name. It his first ever experience being with someone of the same sex and it helps Frank realize that he is bisexual. The only person to know about this relationship at the time is his best friend, Johnny Gat. Johnny accepts him, though he doesn't fully understand it yet.

After the second summer, the boy moves away. Frank moves on.

Brother's Death:

When Frank's brother Louis is 13-years-old, he is killed in cold blood by a crew of rogue Vice Kings. The motive is suspected to have to do with Frank's affiliation. Racked with guilt and grief, Frank puts Xixi, who is also 13 and was at the scene, in his truck and drives her around town until she can tell him who did it, then murder a the culprit in front of her.

Things are never the same between them after this and Xixi noticeably distances herself from him.

Summer '06:

This summer marks a turning point in Frank's life, though he does not know it. He is engaging in a situationship with a girl from his old high school chemistry class who now dances at Tee 'N' Ay.

He has not spoken to Xixi in months, though he still drops in every once in a while to check in on her grandmother and through her, forms a small connection with Vanessa. She looks up to him and he does not like that.

On a warm night in June, Meech is shot by Vice Kings and survives. This is the second time he has let his family get hurt in retaliation to his actions. He will not happen again. This changes the trajectory of his life in a grander scope than he could ever imagine.

Lucy was feeling sad. Being able to remember things from the time she hatched, specifically the regret and hatred her mother looked at her is whats making her sad. That was the only thing she ever remembered of her mother. And over the past while Lucy has slowly been stopping her attempts affection and love from the Saiyaness named Garlik, seeing that they failed over and over again no matter how persistent she was.

Perhaps her papa would know why mama hated her so much? She didn't know Garlik wasn't her bio mother then again doctor Skaira wasn't either, so she would go and find him. It was nighttime so she was supposed to be in bed, but still she would hop up and curl up next to where he was. Snuggling into him.

"Papa... why does mama hate me? Why did she look at me with hatred and regret when I was born? Did I do something wrong...?"

How intense does an emotion have to be for it to be seared into a newborns memory? Though Lucy, while chaotic, was a very empathetic infant. Seemingly able to read someone's mood and would try to make them feel better of they were sad. She was very intune with her own emotions, her face always easy to read. A smile as bright as the sun when she was happy. Clear remorse and regret when she's punnished for doing something bad. Currently her face was covered with sadness, her eyes too, as she curled up as close as she could into the saiyan.

Pencil in hand, he was writing a report about something that happened during a mission. The mission was more dangerous than originally calculated and one of the soldiers got injured. Thankfully, he should recover quickly enough with a full week stay at home. The report now finished and proper to be delivered to Naeb or Ashiria. He store it in the Kus to give it to whomever he sees first. The pencil being put in the back he takes with him to work, he moves up from the chair with the bag in hand to put it away in the cupboard under the bed.

There is supposedly nothing left for him to do besides sleeping, but he cannot sleep. However, it seems someone is in need of him as the person in question should be in bed and sleeping. Yet, here she is hugging his leg until he takes her into his arms after he hears what is in her mind. It's shocking that she remembers that her actual mother looked at her as if she looked at garbage. Only making him despise her actual parents more.

— I don't know your real mother or father, kid. I have no idea why they decided to leave you behind, but do you really want to ruin yourself thinking about negative things? You're a kid, you're not in age to be thinking things like this. You should be thinking about catching bugs or making a rock castle.

Lucy does not realize that she is getting away better than him. She does not need to know such, either. Yes, it was a dick move to just abandon her like this, but being abandoned is better than going through hell being raised by someone who thinks you're nothing but a waste of oxygen.

— Your mother is not a good person, and you did nothing wrong. She despised you before you were even born. Leaving you behind for me to find you, that's the best thing she has done for you. So, don't think about her. She is not worth your time.

Wow, there is some crazy projection happening on my submission. I am aware that I was the asshole here. I'll answer a couple of questions I saw.

1. My girlfriend is NOT a bad or distant mom. Since I submitted this, she did admit to me that she feels ready to take on more responsibility in regards to her son, but she was worried about how I would react to it. She has a lot of regrets and expresses a lot of guilt about how things have turned out but those are not the only things she feels towards her son. Please stop calling her distant or deadbeat, she really does as much as she is capable of.

2. Her parents are not trying to get rid of her son. I said that they have been pushing for us to take him more often during the week. Since I submitted this, we had a conversation with them and they explained that my gfs son has been expressing often that he wants to be at our house or he wants to see him mom during the week. He apparently gets quite upset about not being able to see her every day, so this is why they have been pushing so much. With this in mind, my gf now makes time every day to visit or call him. I set up a minecraft world, and we play with him after school when we have time. His grandparents are taking good care of him and my gf has entrusted them with his care because she knows that for now, they can do better for him than she can.

3. I am going to therapy with my gf and we're working on better communication. We've done a lot of talking about the situation and she has expressed that I have made her anxious in the past. My hesitance around caring for her son has made her worried that I might leave her when she does decide to move him in with her. I'm obviously not proud of this and want to work things through with her. I love her and realize that her son is part of the package. In the first session, we came to the realization that I was feeling a lot of anxiety about her son suddenly moving in when I feel like we're not prepared. I am only 22 so I'm still figuring things out, the idea of suddenly being fully responsible for a whole human is terrifying. This is why we're now working on transitioning slowly to him being more around and us being more actively involved in his life outside of the weekends. Her parents are being really supportive too so we're figuring it out.

4. I have apologized for suggesting that her son could live with his bio dad. My gf opened up about it and the situation is much worse than I understood, and there's actually a restraining order against him. He's also a lot older than her. I swear I did not know these things, I was under the impression that he was sometimes violent but had never directly hurt her. She told me before that she had considered letting her son meet him, so I thought this meant he wasn't so bad. She and her parents maintain that they do not want him in this kid's life and I respect that, and agree now.

5. I was not the first person to tell her son that I am not his father. His grandparents had this conversation with him a few times already and say that he understands it pretty well, though he does get sad about "not having a dad". I still don't feel like I can fill that role for him but I have apologized to him for hurting him by blurting it out at him at dinner in front of others. We've done some 1x1 time recently and he does still call me dad when he's not thinking about it. I'm trying to get more comfortable with it because I think I was wrong for being so hung up on him having a "real dad" when that guy has never been involved with him. Someone said I'm showing respect to a guy who doesn't deserve it and I think they might be right. Again, we're figuring it out and I'm trying.

6. We don't have a room for her son in our house but I am thinking of moving my desk and stuff out of the spare room so we can make it into "his room". We're not ready for full time parenting yet but he could have his own bed and a wardrobe so he doesn't have to bring a suitcase each week. I hope my gf will see this as a gesture that says "I know this is his home too" and that I am not running away from the idea.

Thanks for the comments, they were pretty eye opening. But please lay off my gf and her parents, they're doing their bests. I am working on being better too.

AITA for asking my gf's son not to call me dad?

I (22M) have been dating my gf (24F) for 4 years now. She has a 7 year old whose dad isn't in the picture anymore - he hasn't been since the kid was born. My gf says he was abusive and I think there are some charges against him but as far as I know, nothing was proven. He has other kids too who he does have a relationship with but he doesn't have custody rights with my gf's son so they hasn't been allowed to have a relationship.

My gf and I live together and are both in college. I am going to be a surgeon and she wants to study science but she hasn't decided what to do with it yet. Because we're both busy with that, her son doesn't live with us full time. He stays with her parents during the week. This means that we have to dedicate our weekends to looking after the kid. I didn't really mind this at first but her parents are really pushing for her to look after him during the week now too, which we don't have time for. I hear how that doesn't sound great but the plan has always been that her parents will take care of the kid until she finishes with school. She has classes for 4+ hours from Mon-Thurs, plus she needs to spend a few hours studying every day, then she has labs on Friday for most of the day. I have classes all week for fewer hours each day but next semester I'll probably be doing an internship so I'll have more work to do. Then we pick up her kid on Friday evenings and spend the whole weekend with him. There's hardly any time for us to spend time alone together. I like her son and he's usually fun to have around but both of us are obviously stressed from having no down time so most weekends my gf and her son get into an argument or something and things escalate. I try not to get involved when that happens. Sometimes my gf and I are the ones who end up arguing and in that case, I usually go to my parents house.

Basically, I'm not super involved with the kid. Her parents want us to spend all of our free time on parenting despite originally agreeing that it was better if my gf focused on school. He has a dad who could probably be more involved but my gf and her family don't want him around. I've suggested that maybe it would be a better solution for her son to live with his dad full time, that way she can focus on school and then her career and still have time for herself and for us. I love her but she doesn't really have maternal instincts and she doesn't actually want kids, she has said a lot that she regrets not giving him up for adoption.

Recently, we were out for dinner with my gf's sister and kid, and the kid called me his dad. He's done this a lot and usually I just kind of ignore it, but no one else corrected him this time and I felt like the kid deserved the truth. I asked him then and there not to call me dad because he has a real dad who probably wouldn't like it. He didn't seem upset by it but my gf's sister lost it. She thinks I don't want the kid around and that I'm the reason my gf doesn't spend more time with him. She also thinks this was the first time my gf's son heard about his bio dad. Total conjecture, but she won't hear my side of it. The kid knows I havent been around since he was born so he obviously knows someone else must be his dad. I told my gf I don't think it's fair to let the kid call me dad when he has a real dad out there and she sort of agrees. She told her son not to call me dad anymore and they had a long talk about it. She still doesn't want the real dad involved but that's a whole other battle.

Here's why I think I might be the asshole: I said this to the kid in a moment of annoyance, which probably wasn't the way to bring it up. Like I said, he didn't seem upset by it but I wasn't there for the longer conversation so I don't know exactly. I think he's old enough to be allowed to know about his real dad in a more serious way. It's kind of messed up that he could run into his dad in the street (we live in a pretty small town) and wouldn't know it. I'm not his dad and for the foreseeable future, I won't be responsible for him as a parent because he still lives with his grandparents. I think it's reasonable to say that he shouldn't call me dad. So, AITA?

I have seen many of Talia and Bruce are Dannys parents and heard of Danny being Selina's son and but NEVER have I saw Danny still being Maddies son, but Bruce is his biological dad too.

( It could be from a very drunken one-night stand and while Jack knows Danny isn't his biologically, he still treated him like his son which made Maddie love him more )

Maddie doesn't even bother telling Bruce out of fear he might use his money to take Danny from her and the whole Playboy Image wasn't helping.

Like imagine the meltdown from Damian since he's not the only blood son on top of being the youngest son to boot. And if he sees Dani he slowly gaslights himself into thinking she's the secret love child of his father and Selina and might worries there is some weight to Bruce's Playboy Image and there's a 4th blood sibling out there.

Talia wondering who the heck is this Madeline Fenton and how the HELL did she get give Bruce a son first? She's now in the top 5 on her shitlist.

And Vlad having a stroke at the realization that Danny is NOT Jack's bio son but freaking Bruce Wayne, the Playboy from Gotham. And if Bruce and Vlad don't like each other than this will be even more hilarious.

I wonder how they would have met, Maddie and Bruce? Was there a engineer convention at Wayne tower? I bet Bruce had to go and Maddie and Jack were there because SCIENCE!

But Jack probably ran off leaving Maddie at the bar and Maddie just straight up NOT having a good time because this was the 90’s and if I am not mistaken a good chunk of the engineering field was male dominated and a bit misogynistic. And she got fuckin’ plastered and in her drinking haze might have even mistaken one tall black haired blue eyed man for another and decided that leaving with an equal (probably less so but still) drunk Bruce was DTF this random red head because he was also sick of all the misogynistic scientists around. (Also we all know that Bruce has a thing for women who can kick his fuckin ass!)

Or if your not into that the only other thought I had was Jack and Maddie have an open relationship and the reason Maddie doesn’t date Vlad is cuz he’s a big creep! (Jack would so date Vlad if he was given the chance!)

Anyway, after she wakes up and takes one look at the man next to her and is like, “that’s not Jack…” before hightailing it’s out of there!(probably in some sort of eccentric way) She looks for her actual husband the morning after. She realizes what has happened and was going to go home and sleep off her hangover before she tells her husband what had happened. Depending on the scenario Maddie would either be a bundle of nerves or she would be excited to say she found out she slept with Bruce Wayne of all people. (Even though he is known for his Brucie persona, both Jack and Maddie know no simple minded man can run a business like Wayne Industry’s)

Either way Jack would be hyped cuz BRUCE FRICKIN WAYNE!!!! And when he found out Maddie was prego be ever MORE FUCKIN HYPED cuz OH MY FUDGE ANOTHER BABY! (They may not be the best parents but they sure as shit love their kids) Maddie isn’t sure she should keep Danny but seeing Jack so excited she realized it didn’t matter because if he was so happy and she would be happy too.

Cue danny being born and Jazz being a big sister who is very excited to finally know where babies come from (and for her new baby brother I guess). Years later it probably would have never come up again but Vlad during his cloning phase decides to look into Danny’s dna some more. “Probably jacks dumb dna messing with their proses!” (Vlad would so gaslight himself into believing that even though intelligence doesn’t effect dna) and he finds not a sing bit of Jack in Danny.

After recovering from the shock of it Vlad starts scheming, comes up with a plan to use this to drive Jack and Maddie apart. Goes to Jack and in the most dramatic way possible tells Jack about the SHOCKING discovery that danny isn’t his son!

And Jack is like, “oh I know that! And don’t be silly Vlad! Danno might not be mine biologically but he’s still my boy!” And Vlad is about to rip his hair out because of course Jack wouldn’t be bothered with that! What a FOOL!!!

Then Vlad thinking he could salvage this decides to tell Danny who just thinks Vlad is fucking with him until Vlad barrages into the house at 9 am after looking more into who Danny bio dad would be and in the most offended outrage Danny has ever seen from the older halfa says “you slept with BRUCE WAYNE????” To Maddie causing both Danny and Jazz to spit out whatever the hell they were eating all over the table. (Jack: I know right? Pretty cool!!)

After that discovery Danny yeets himself into the ghost zone cuz wow, isn’t that a world shattering discovery to be thrusted upon you at 9 in the morning!

How the Batfam find out I’m not entirely sure? Maybe Danny wanted to meet him (probably not) or maybe it was ghosts hearing about it from some fight that Vlad and Danny have in the GZ and spreading rumors from ghost to ghost until it reaches the undead ears of Boston Brand (Deadman) who tells Constantine or Zatana who tell Bruce who just is plain confused as to why ghosts of all thing would know he has an unknown son (who may be dead???) Or maybe Talia finds out first and sends assassins to kill Maddie (who takes them on like a fuckin’ champ!) and Bruce follows the league of Assassins activity and finds that one woman he had a one night stand with and sees her son who looks too much like him to be a coincidence. Or maybe Damian found out first and this was when he first came to live with Bruce and he was still a little murder-y. He fucking tracks Danny down and is like “there can only be one!” And Danny is like “one what???? But jokes on you there is also more than one of me!” (Dani/Elle) thus causing Damien to go into a rage only to be stopped by what ever Batfam came to stop him! (Danny: what’s with the small angry child?) Dami pouts but moves on. (Can’t kill what’s already dead, maybe???)

Either way Danny would be welcomed into the bat fam with open arms! (Dami is reluctant but comes around when he finds out about Cujo (Dami: and I guess Danny is ok too))

9/10 A really good story. The way Severus take care of Harry as a child is adorable and I love how Harry warms up to Severus once he figures out who he is.

Batshit AU Pt #2: The Grandkids

So I mentioned in the last post Batshit AU Pt. #1 that I cover Dick and Jason's kids but since I've been thinking (read: fantasizing) about the future of the Batfam I figured I'd just do a post with ALL the grandkids!

Just a heads up: this is a LONG post.

First we shall start with the Grayson's:

Mar'i and Jake (Jake is not my original name I've seen it pop up in other media- dunno if it's canon in any timeline but I'm going with it).

Mar'i Grayson: Mar'i is the biologically daughter of Dick Grayson and Koriand'r of Tamaran (aka Starfire). Kori is unknowingly pregnant after one last one-night-stand with Dick before going back to her home planet to take over as queen. Unfortunately, because of Kori's sister Komand'r (aka Blackfire) causing civil unrest to try and usurp the thorn from her, Tamaran becomes unsafe for Mar'i as she is Kori's only heir.

-Kor'i goes back to Earth with an infant Mar'i and begrudgingly hands her over to Dick so she can live with him and be safe from Blackfire.

-Kori of course visits while she can but has a lot of responsibilities on Tamaran. When Mar'i is older she is able to go back to Tamaran to visit her mother.

-A few years later when Dick and Barbra get married, Barbra officially adopts Mar'i. Seeing both Kor'i and Barbra as her mothers Mar'i decides so call Kori "Mama" and Barbra "Mom/Mommy".

Jake Grayson: don't have much of an exciting backstory for him. He was basically just an orphaned infant Dick and Barbra decided to adopt after his bio-parents had been murdered.

Now he have the Todd family:

Because I am a heartless monster I decided that since Roy died in the comics without any sign of Lian and Jason was pretty fucked up about it, I would have Jason adopt Lian because Roy wasn't round to take care of her. So this is basically what happened:

Lain Harper-Todd: 1 year or so after Roy's death, Jason is visited by Jade Nguyen (aka Cheshire) who is carrying an infant Lian. Jade explains that she hadn't realised she was pregnant with Roy's child until after he was already dead and since she is not ready to give up her life as an assassin she states that Lian is better off without her. She then asks Jason if he would be willing to take Lian in as Roy's former partner (read into that how you will).

-Jason agrees, and decides to hyphenate her last name Harper-Todd so that she will always have a piece of Roy with her even if he can't be there for her in person.

it's not that I don't think JayRoy is cute! It's just that I honestly I don't really picture Jason dating anyone in my mind and the thought of him being a single dad is just precious. I'm also allergic to OC's (of my own making) so I usually try to keep to characters that are at least canon in some timeline and Lian was the first to come to mind.

Also I'm a angst-hungry monster so...

Drake-Wayne/Dowd/McGinnis household:

Lol, this family has too many names.

I already went over Terry and Matthew McGinnis' backstory in Batshit AU Pt. #1 but if you are too lazy/ don't feel like reading it I'll try to make sure to cover the important details.

Terry & Matthew McGinnis: A few years down the road, Tim is the current Batman and married to Bernard Dowd (my new fave batship). One night on patrol he finds the boys hunkered down behind an garbage container and approaches them.

-Terry is extremely protective of his younger brother Matt and becomes immediately aggressive, swinging a baseball around and threatening Tim to leave them alone.

-Tim finds it admirable/endearing that Terry is willing to face Batman alone in order to protect his brother and tells him so. He then asks them where there parents and and Matt (trusting Batman) tells Tim that they were killed by the 'Bad Men' who are now looking for he and Tarry.

-Tim is worried for the boys safety and offers to take them to the Police, but Tarry only says that they already tried that and that there are spies in the GCPD who ratted them out to the 'Bad Men'.

-Tim figures out that the boys are in more danger then he first realized and takes them home with him in order to protect them.

-Tim eventually finds out about Project Batman Beyond, an experiment orchestrated by A.R.G.U.S. in order to create the perfect child to usurp the Cowl and give A.R.G.U.S and 'in' with the Justice League and the super-community as a whole. A part of this project is making sure the children are biologically Bruce Wayne's in order for them to also gain influence over Wayne Enterprises.

-Tim realizes that there is no real safe place that he can send the boys and after discussing it with his husband, Bernard, the two decide to adopt the boys.

I think this adoption story is one of my favourites. Especially because I find the idea of Bernard not at all being surprised by his husband brining home black-haired blue-eyes orphans, hilarious.

Bernard: I figured since you are now Batman it was only a matter of time.

Wayne-Kent situation:

DamiJon is one of my absolute favourite ships in existence. But since both boys are so young in canon my version of their future relationship truly is creature of my own design, I will explain them a little and then the kids. I'll be quick about it. Promise. (There is also a 2 part series I'm working on that goes into my version of events called "Jon and Damian" if anyone is interested. Jon's chapter is done but Damian's is still in the works).

Jon: he is the one that I really have to explain. I call my version of him "Dark-ish Jon" or 'dark ish jon' for the tags. For those of you who already know the deal (or don't really care) y'all can skip to the *** for the kids.

-basically Jon was kidnapped by Jon-El (Clark's Kryptonian Bio-dad) in order for Jor-El to mold Jon into the perfect weapon for his plan to conquer the universe. They have a machine that Jumps through various timelines so no one can find them, and Jon-El trains/tortures Jon for 2 years.

-Jon eventually discovers new powers that allow him to kill Jor-El and escape but he ends up spending the next several years trying to find his original timeline.

-He eventually meets the Legion of Superheroes that help him get home, but once he arrives home he realizes that for him it has been 7 years since he was kidnaped, but only 2 weeks for his family/friends.

-Because of this he and his family find it hard to adjust to the new situation and Jon ultimately decides to return to the Legion but visit occasionally.

Damian: Honestly I don't think I really have to explain much about Damian for y'all to get the kids but I do want you to know:

He has long hair

He has peirced ears

Possibly tattoos?

He's has more of a slim figure than Bruce's bulky one

He is a fashion icon and kinda has 'bitchy white girl' energy

Bacically he very pretty and looks a LOT like Thalia

And yeah. The two eventually reconcile after Jon is done moping in another timeline and they decide to retire from crime fighting and build a cottage/farm and live in peace.

Athanasia: So she is actually Bruce's bio-kid from the Injustice timeline. And for my AU she is still Bruce's biologically and she does recognize him as her father, but because she and Damian are 13/14 years apart and she knows him better she lives and defers to him as her caretaker. I shall explain:

-Athanasia was created by Thalia in a fit of madness after Damian's death. Because of what happened to Damian, and because Athanasia turned out to be a girl (and therefor Ra's would have no use for her), Thalia keeps the little girl locked away and a secret so that no one can harm her.

-Years pass and Athanasia has never seen the outside would. Eventually something happens (will depends on the Fic -because I will get around to writing this shit eventually) and Athanasia is given to Damian (the only other person Thalia ever told her about.)

-At this point Bruce is getting older and most of his current children already have their own kids, so both he and Damian agree that because Athanasia is mostly attached to Damian and doesn't really know who Bruce is outside of being her father, that she will live with he and Jon.

-Athanasia get's older and eventually meets another girl at her school named Carrie Kelley. The girls form a quick bond, Carrie's louder personality complementing Athanasia's more quiet one.

Carrie Kelley: being best friends with Athanasia leads to Carrie spending a lot of time over at her house. This allows Jon and Damian to get to know the girl and become quite fond of her.

-one night after a sleepover at Jon and Damian's house with some of their other friends, Carrie's father comes to the house drunk and carrying a shot gun. He accuses Jon and Damian of being pedophiles because of their sexual orientations and calls them a variety of homophobic slurs.

-It's his attempts at shooting Jon that leads to Carrie calling 911 and having her own father arrested.

-Because her mother had already left and Carrie only had her dad to take care of her, Jon and Damian offer her a place in their home and eventually adopt her along with Athanasia when the girls are teenagers.

So, yeah! That's it for now. I am absolutely obsesses with this AU. I just love the idea of Bruce deciding to take in Dick leading to him having an army of children and grandchildren so large that all family gatherings have to happen at the Manor because nowhere else is big enough.

When Tom was pulled aside by the Russo Brothers when he was filming End Game and was given the plot line of the movie Cherry, Tom immediately thought of you. You were his baby sister that served in the military. Tom was hesitant to take the role of an army medic that has PTSD and struggles with addiction. This character would hit home in a way.

You had been home leading to Tom leaving for Atlanta to film the final Avengers movie, but you left shortly after he did to go back on deployment. Tom was never fully calm when he knew you weren’t home. He constantly worried.

When the Russo’s came to him, they knew he would have to consider everything from career to personal. They knew you served your country. What they didn’t know was that you were already suffering from PTSD. Tom knew, which is why it took him all of filming to give them an answer.

One morning when Tom was talking to you, he mentioned the role and how he didn’t know if he should take it. It discussed heavy issues. He wasn’t sure if he would be able to bring it justice. You encouraged him to take the role. You told him you knew he could do the role. That he was an amazing actor. You included that doing this movie could help start a conversation about mental health and addiction within soldiers and veterans.

Tom remembered the conversation like it was yesterday. Now the trailer is being released and he is starting the virtual press tour. You had just come home right before Christmas. Your Christmas present to your family was telling them you were retiring from the military. Tom was ecstatic at the news. He hated worrying about you when you were gone. He was constantly thinking that the next phone call he got was going to be his parents telling him you weren’t coming home.

A month later, you were currently staying with Tom until you found your own place. When Tom was sent the trailer to Cherry for him to post on his own social media the next day, he brought his computer to your room. He knocked on the door and opened it when he heard a quiet “come in.”

“Hey Y/N?” You looked up from your iPad when he spoke.

“Yeah?” You asked, confused.

“I have the trailer for Cherry. They just sent it over. Want to watch?” He asked hopefully. You could see the slight fear in his eyes, but you didn’t understand why.

“Sure.” You smiled at him and set your iPad on your night stand. Tom smiled back at you and sat down on the other side of the bed. He quickly made it full screen and hit play. He had already watched it so Tom watched you through the corner of his eye. He noticed that when it showed the war scenes, you tensed.

When the trailer was over, Tom slowly exited out and shut his computer screen. “What did you think? They are going to send over the movie this weekend. Figured me and you could make a movie night out of it with the whole family.”

“I liked it. You look like you did a good job so far. I can’t wait to watch it.” You smiled at him. Tom immediately knew you were putting on your fake smile.

“Everything okay?” He asked, concerned.

“Yeah. I just…” You sighed and looked away from Tom. “Just still adjusting to everything. You know that I’m going to therapy, right?”

Tom shook his head, “No, I just thought you were going to mum’s and dad’s.”

“No. I’ve been going to therapy. I’m at three days a week right now. The nightmares are just too much to handle. Then I hear sounds during the day and it just flashes me back to there.”

“I’m sorry y/n/n. You know you can talk to me. I want you to know you can talk to me. No matter what time. I talked with veterans, I don’t know what you went through, but I know it wasn’t good. After playing this character, I don’t want to see that happen to you. Did they prescribe medicine?” He asked.

You shook your head.

“Okay. If they feel you need to, please let me know. I really, really don’t want you to go through addiction. I don’t even want to risk it for you to even get close to addiction.” He said seriously. You knew he was. You didn’t want the medicine anyways.

“I can’t wait to see the movie.” You said with a smile. “But can I ask if we can start it early? I already know, I’ll probably need to pause it and take a minute when it gets to those scenes.” You said. You didn’t even need to specify which ones. Tom knew already that watching the military scenes were going to be hard for you.

“Yeah. We can. And if you want it to be just us, that’s perfectly okay. I can watch it with everyone else the next night.” He said giving you options.

You shook your head to turn down the new option, “that’s okay. I can watch it with them. Just let them know I will need to pause it.” Tom smiled at you and nodded before kissing your head and getting off your bed. Tom left to go show everyone else the trailer. 

After he posted the trailer to his Instagram a few days later, positive comments started flooding his Instagram and Twitter. You scrolled through the comments from Harry, Haz, the Russo Brothers, and more people Tom knew and worked with and like all of them. You were so happy to see them support Tom. He had the right people in his corner.Next you saw a post from Tuwaine. First you scrolled through the photos. They were of Tom as Cherry throughout the different times in the characters life.

It’s funny, cos when I see bae do a role like this, I’m reminded again and again of how talented he truly is. I don’t think the world can look at you the same way once this is out.

He added that the trailer link was in his bio and you smiled. Not many people would do that, but Tuwaine has been one of Tom’s day 1s. You loved Tuwaine like a brother. You couldn’t ask for a better best friend for your brother.

You knew Tuwaine’s words were 100% correct. People saw Tom as a kid. They saw him like he is this sweet, innocent teenager like Peter Parker. He didn’t hate that, but he also hated being seen as a kid. Don’t get him wrong, he loves Spider-Man and he would love to play that character for the rest of his life, but he’s 24. He wanted to be taken seriously and no one takes a kid seriously.

You remember getting the selfie Tom sent to your phone when he was filming. You didn’t get it until you returned home, but he loved to text your phone when things happened so you could stay up to date with him. The selfie Tom sent you was when he was in Morocco. He was in all of his military gear. The text under it was,

I put this suit on and I feel like I’m an imposter. I feel like I don’t deserve to wear this. I’m just an actor, you are the real hero in this world. But when I feel like this, I remember what you told me. “If anyone can play this role, it’s you Tom. You have a connection to the military. You see what it can do to the family and friends around the soldier. You know what it has done to me. If anyone can bring this character to the screen and help start a conversation about PTSD and addiction, it’s you. I don’t know another actor that would take it seriously and give it 110%.” I hope this movie does start that conversation. I hope people see this character and realize the severity of it. Thank you for pushing me to do this role. I love you. I can’t wait to see you again. Stay safe y/n/n. I love you.

You decided to post the picture he sent you plus a screenshot of the text. You wanted them to see Tom as Tom. You were so incredibly proud of him and you wanted the world to see that.

Tom, I honestly don’t know what words to say right now, you know I’m not good at them, but I’m proud of you. I’m proud of you for going outside your comfort zone. You went into this movie to show people you can be more than the nerdy high school kid and to start a conversation. I read all the text you sent me when filming this. I know the hardships you went through. I cannot wait to watch Cherry with you to see all the hard work pay off. I already know you were absolutely amazing in it. I love you and I’m proud of you!

When Tom got the notification that he was tagged in a post by you, he smiled. He smiled even bigger seeing the photos you used and as he read the caption. He was the luckiest brother in the world to have a sister like you. He quickly comment thank you and love you with a kiss and heart emojis.

“Tom?” You asked as you walked into his room to see him lying on the bed.

“Yeah?” He questioned.

“I really am proud of you. Let’s go out for lunch. My treat.” You smiled. Tom got out of bed and walked to you.

“Thank you for pushing me to do this role. I’m really glad I did it.” He said and gave you a kiss on the head. “Now go get dressed, I’m paying.” He said with an arrogant tone and walked towards his bathroom. You left to get dressed while laughing. Knowing it was going to be a fight to see who actually paid for lunch.
