“What nice teeth you have”
Animal: African Wild Dog. Location of shot: Lion Sands Game Reserve, Kruger National Park, SA.
“I photographed this Painted Wolf at Lion Sands Game Reserve, a protected reserve with open borders next to the Kruger National Park in South Africa. It is wearing a tracker because, sadly, this species is endangered and is therefore being closely monitored by scientists. There may only be 1400 left in the wild, and 300 left in this part of Africa with one of the main reasons for this being persecution from humans. We need to learn to love our beaming neighbors!”

ive mentioned before my like. fascination and incomprehensible attachment to mysterious ambiguously brown man characters in schlocky fantasy romance media marketed towards women and a lot of it is from like, a like. nearly anthropological standpoint as someone heavily interested in orientalism in narrative media from a visual culture and art historical point of view and a part of it is also from being mixed race and ambiguous IRL LOL BUT there is one other angle i havent really touched on thats on my mind a lot. you know that bit we all go through where someone reads something like mediocre and it sticks in their mind more than something well written? the "I COULD FIX THISSSS" curse..... im like this with ambiguously brown characters. holds loosely (LOOSELY) south asian coded love interest from some romance comic #8997485344534984875943 tenderly in my hands..... my brother i know you weren't written with this depth but i know the truth. i know about your complexities as you navigate this fantasy europe as a racialized man. i know your truth

TONGUE MEET
(A Folktale from Quênia)
@faintingheroine @princesssarisa @softlytowardthesun @grimoireoffolkloreandfairytales @adarkrainbow @thealmightyemprex @scarletblumburtonofeastlondon @professorlehnsherr-almashy @themousefromfantasyland
Once upon a time in there was a very prosperous kingdom. There, everyone was happy and loved the king and queen, who was chubby, with rosy cheeks and a good laugh.
One day, without any explanation, the queen started to get sick, day by day she lost weight and her skin became dull and lackluster.
The king sought all the healers in the kingdom, however, no one found the answer to what was happening to her.
Determined, the king decided to seek a cure for his wife himself.
He left for the kingdom and one day, when passing through a field, he heard a good laugh, which reminded him of his wife. He went to the house and looking out the window saw a woman sitting with her husband, the two were laughing and he also saw that she was chubby and with rosy cheeks.
The king knocked on the door, and when the man answered, he was startled to see the king of his country standing in front of him.
Immediately, the king asked the man what he did to make his wife so beautiful and healthy, so plump with rosy cheeks.
The man immediately said:
“Because every day I feed my wife with tongue meat!”
The king hurried back to the palace and had the royal cook prepare a large beef tongue soup for the queen.
The cook promptly separated the tongues of every animal he could and made a great soup. The queen ate the soup, but it did not get better. She continued to lose weight.
So the king had an idea, he took the queen to the peasant's house and he took the peasant woman to the palace.
In a short time the queen became plump and flushed, the peasant woman became ill and began to lose weight.
The king returned to the peasant's house intrigued by the situation, wanting to understand what was going on.
Then the peasant explained:
“When I said that every day I feed my wife with tongue meat, I was talking about the stories I tell my wife every day, with my tongue.”
The king took the queen to the palace and began to tell her stories every day, she recovered fully and was never sick again.
That's why in Quênia everyone says that listening to stories is good for everyone's health.

American Fiction (2023)
🎬 A novelist who's fed up with the establishment profiting from Black entertainment uses a pen name to write a book that propels him into the heart of the hypocrisy and madness he claims to disdain.
📝An original, thought-provoking, and very funny take on stereotyping people and putting them in a box. If you are looking for something that will make you laugh non-stop, then this won't be for you. But if you enjoy original writing, good satire, and work that highlights the hypocrisy as well as the dangers of stereotyping, then this will be for you. It was just brilliant, and I absolutely loved it. Highly recommended.
Jeffrey Wright and Sterling K. Brown continue to impress with their versatile roles.
