ok so aside from the obv fucking bombshells of ep8, what else do we know?
celia has some sort of affiliation with georgie and podcast (technically not confirmed to be wtg so we may be getting played)
celia is doing research about time travel and alternate dimensions for the mentioned podcast
something about a magnus instute gifted child program or smth?? supposedly gerry was apart of it and sam said it was the reason for contact (given he isnt bsing us), which may explain sams interest in the institute
continuing above, that wouldnt explain why sam seemingly doesnt know nything about the fire or its taboo nature
gerry lives with gertrude (99% sure its confirmed to be her, tired while writing this lol)
gwen has not been given further info about her promotion, or she is willingly keeping it from alice
gwen did not know about collins mental health leave, why?
no mention of gerrys awful dye job, a true shame tho understandable due to the format
what is recording these convos outside OIAR? is it sam or something like the tapes in tma eith web (this honestly may just be a story framing device, a way for us to get info about it as the characters do not acknowledge it all, so iffy bout this one)
celia is apparently prominent enough to show up when researched, specifically for this podcast, not just sime fb or linkdins
celia specifically is looking for like AU and time fuckery statements for the podcast which diverges from our understanding of wtg from tma (at least mine)
gwen accuses alice of leaving on talkers to annoy her (i dont think this is important but i think it makes their dynamic more fun and enemies to lovers)
mention of architecture specifically made to create a certain effect, extremely similar to smirke imo
i think this is all? if not pls comment or smthn but im doing this off memory

HI!!!! sorry if you've already posted about this before, but i'm aware you help maintain a vod archive - we're trying to do this for another server and were wondering if you had any tips for useful tools or ways to go about this? thanks and sorry for bothering !!
yes ok!!! here r my tips
1. Have some sort of location where all the VODs are accessible from, for people who may want to find them. For us, we have a spreadsheet, with dates & labels; this could also take the form of a YouTube playlist or an archive.org collection
2. Having only one way to download VODs probably wont be able to cover every scenario you encounter. Here's a list of a BUNCH of resources and tools, many of which you might never need, and most of which I've never heard of. In terms of programs to download VODs, I personally use a mixture of three: Twitch Downloader, 4k Video Downloader, and Twitch Recover. (I use Downloader to access most Twitch VODs, 4k for YouTube videos/streams - although it also does Twitch - and Twitch Recover for when a VOD has been recently deleted*.)
3. TWITCH DELETES VODS !!!! unless a vod is saved as a highlight, those suckers go KABLOOEY at a certain point! the exact amount of time will vary, depending on whether ur streamer is affiliate, partner, or not, so knowing your streamer's status is very helpful. I think non-affiliates and affiliates have a week, and then partners have 60 days. Note that Twitch Recover does not work on VODs older than 60 days, so this time limit is REALLY IMPORTANT.
4. If you're able to get in touch with your streamers in some way, that is really cool and epic! Not necessary at all, but sometimes it's nice being able to remind streamers theres a demand for an official VODs channel, or asking if they have any spare VODs lying around
5. HAVE FRIENDS TO DO THIS WITH !! you said "we" so I assume theres probably a team of some sort already, but division of labor is HUGELY helpful for VOD archiving, because those GB start adding up fast. (It's about 2.5 GB per 1 hour of video at 1080p quality, and generally you want the highest quality possible, so VODs can get pretty chunky.) Oh yeah I guess storage space is useful too. Remember to do spring cleaning also every now and then and make sure you dont delete anything that isnt already backed up elsewhere 👍 but yes. Teamwork. Communicating with the group about who will do what, being able to mobilize in a potential crisis, and making occasional public calls for additional hands on help are all super important, I've found.
6. YouTube is a copyright bitch! While it's better for watching vods back on, it will occasionally block a vod for copyright. YouTube is great, I upload all my MCC vods there unlisted, but I also recommend getting familiar with archive.org. archive is a little slower to upload but it won't hide a VOD worldwide because it had a copyrighted song or three in it. Having mirrors of uploads is a good tool for peace of mind - one of my friends has been on a kick of double mirroring VODs lately, even ones that will eventually be up on a VODs channel, but that's also a lot of uploading and slows him down
7. Being aware to at least some degree of the contents of what you're archiving is a good thing. Sometimes you need to censor out an accidental doxxing or worry about an IP leak, and I find it makes me feel more confident in my work if I know what I'm preserving. Like, I archive plenty of MCC POVs I havent necessarily watched, but they're all MCC, and I know what happens, and I sometimes hear details from other people - but a random server VOD from a guy I don't watch much of could contain anything. Sometimes I worry I've accidentally stuck deeply personal information into the internets biggest document repository. And maybe I have. But having some familiarity helps the peace of mind
8. Have fun with it and take pride in your work! You're helping to prevent something you love, the hard work of others, from becoming lost media! That's sooooo epic and sexy and cool of you, actually, and more people should do it - either on their own for their own personal purposes, or in the context of a larger project, like me and you
tl;dr its work but it boils down to communication, having the right tools, and having a team that is willing to adapt and cooperate in order to get stuff done! best of luck in your efforts
#asks#the genesis institute#this is like sooooo much info most of it will come up naturally. & i think the exact rhythm and formula#will vary depending on the exact group of people you've got & the demands of the server itself

Is there any way you could cut down on the Amazon recs and start sharing options from more ethical sources?
I try to link as many inde and small brands as possible. Unfortinally it seems like a trend that the blogs I follow that I reblog those from go inactive. So anyone who owns a shop or have blogs to suggest send them in.
Also to be completely transparent Im part of the affiliate program. It is kinda a source of income for me. I have a chronic illness and for a while couldnt leave my house that often let alone get a job. I know amazon isnt that great but im doing what I can.

hi ! I want to start this by saying I received a copy of speak for yourself for free , which I am so very grateful for , not just so I can write this but also because it has helped me so much in my daily life. I am using the app to write this review , just because I find it so much easier than typing! as always, I have no affiliation with the creators of SfY, but i think they’re absolutely awesome.
speak for yourself was created by two SLPs, which is really reflected in some of the features found in this AAC program.
speak for yourself has only one grid size, 8x15, but with a unique feature - the user can begin with as few as two words accessible, and those two words will stay in the same place as their vocabulary expands.
in fact , all of the words in speak for yourself will always stay in the same place, no matter whether you're working with 2 words or the full 14,000 available in the app!
(an image of the speak for yourself home page with all words open)
speak for yourself bases its language system around the concept of motor planning, meaning that once a user learns where to find a word , they never have to learn that word again - it’ll always be in the exact same place, allowing language acquisition to be supported by the motor plans in the user’s mind. not only that, but all 14,000 words are available within just two taps. this hugely improves speech rate and also makes the app very easy to navigate, in my opinion it’s an absolutely brilliant feature and isnt found within any other software.
words are organised by association, rather than parts of speech - so “book” is found under “read”, rather than under “nouns”. i personally think this makes the app more accessible for young users or people who struggle to understand parts of speech, words are more intuitive to find than in other AAC apps.
this isn’t to say SFY doesn’t focus on grammar at all - the opposite is actually true. verb inflections are always organised in a certain order (eg. the “-ing” form is always two buttons to the right of the root word.) this is really helpful for people learning language through motor planning, and has helped me develop my own grammar skills over time. an inflections folder is also included, so almost any word can be altered to its plural form, past tense, etc.
specific words can be made visible or invisible to the user through the “open/close” feature, to allow progressive language development and to stop the user becoming overwhelmed by too many words. all words can be made accessible through the “babble” feature - great for exploring new words and building motor plans! the search feature is also very robust, it highlights the path to the word and automatically opens the word to make it visible in the future.
once typed into the speech bar, sentences can be stored by touching the “hold that thought” button, which saves sentences to be spoken later. this is an invaluable feature for AAC users, as we so often get interrupted with another question and don’t get to speak what we were preparing!
the typing feature in SFY is very well-integrated. it uses your device’s keyboard, and has the option to read out each letter. it loads quickly, so switching from symbols to typing doesn’t interrupt your sentence flow. however, it doesn’t include the symbols for each typed word like i’ve seen in other AAC apps, and it doesn’t have in-app word prediction.
sadly, SFY is only available in english right now, and it’s unclear whether other languages will be added in the future ; as a bilingual user this is something i’d really love, so i hope other languages are one day supported in SFY!
speak for yourself uses Cereproc voices, with customisable pitch, and Acapela voices are available as an in-app purchase. the supported Cereproc accents are australian english, indian english, south african english, irish english, UK english and US english. however, the former three all sound quite automated and child voices are only available in US english (and british english if you purchase an acapela voice). i’d also like to mention that while i really like a lot of the Cereproc voices, they can sometimes begin to glitch towards the end of very long sentences. not really a big deal, but again, still worth mentioning.
pros and cons!
pros:
words available within two taps
14000 words
organised intuitively
words are easy to add
can be made accessible for visually impaired users
hold that thought feature
robust search feature
variety of voices
good grammar support
free trial version
cons:
only english available
slightly unusual symbols (eg. photo of a witch for “which”)
quite expensive, although often half price on disability awareness days and autism awareness month
only available on iOS
in all honesty, SFY is the most robust AAC system i’ve ever found, and at least on an individual level i can vouch that it has really improved my life. if you’re looking for an AAC system for somebody, no matter how young, i really urge you to consider this as an option, there isn’t really another program like it.
thank you for reading my review, and if you’ve used SFY and disagree with anything i’ve said, please let me know!

the curious case of the renault sport academy: an essay
alternatively titled: the essay i wasn’t going to write about the mess of the rsa but here it is anyway, supported by facts (also titled: the curious case of anthoine & guanyu)
some standard background: rsa started in 2016, they organise training camps occasionally (tho not so much what with covid) that consist of a lot of cycling. so much cycling they all cry about it. they currently have 6 drivers signed to their academy of which one is a notable outlier - guanyu zhou. the other boys signed have all won titles at one point. guanyu has not. in fact, his best championship result was a second place in 2015, he has not placed higher than 6th since. now, renault is known for snatching up title winners, the winner of formula renault would get signed to the academy (like max fewtrell, oscar piastri) and they’ve picked up some other promising guys as well, signing them to the academy straight away.
if we count back to 2019, another curious addition adds itself to the academy. actually should say 2018 because that’s where it gets interesting. anthoine’s results in 2017 weren’t mind blowing, he didn’t score a single win but did manage to get a couple fastest laps to find himself in 4th position at the end of the year. renault invent a new role, designed specifically for anthoine as he was the first driver to carry this role: affiliate driver. it’s not quite being signed to the academy, he doesn’t run a renault livery, merely has renault on the rear wing (and ART ran an altered livery for 2 other renault kids in f3 the following year), but he does get to go on training camps. it’s a sort of halfway signing, and while i have not been able to find any proof for this, i suspect they told him to win the gp3 title for an actual signing (stick, meet carrot) or get dropped. as we know, he did win and he did get the full signing, black and yellow suit included.
the only other affiliate i’ve been able to find was leonardo lorandi in early 2019, around the same time anthoine got ‘promoted’ for lack of a better word. lorandi didn’t do so well however (18th place in the championship that year) and i haven’t heard anything about him so i suspect he’s just kind of disappeared. definitely was not added to the academy. begs the question, if you want to have a junior program filled with talented drivers and you have someone with better results than one you already signed. why the hassle? why sign guanyu with no outstanding results since 2015, but invent a whole new role for anthoine with a better result in 2017 and a title to his name (french f4 2013)? i’m gonna take an educated guess and say the answer is money.
this isnt related to my essay BUT since im talking about this anyway and i’m still pissed about this, have a little look at the very backhanded compliments of one cyril abiteboul on september 2, 2019. https://www.planetf1.com/f1-races/belgian-grand-prix/abiteboul-f1-was-right-to-race/ make of this what u will :)
moving on, there’s also the matter of renault dropping drivers like hot potatoes at a fairly similar rate to red bull, if i’m honest. guys in the academy in 2018 were long gone by the time 2019 rolled around. ye yifei was a newly signed member of the rsa in 2019, a new signing for placing third in formula renault the previous year. he had a dreadful season in f3 and was consequently dropped. he then finished second in f3 asia (late 2019/early 2020) and went on to win euroformula open in 2020. not a bad driver, right. victor martins, too. his name might sound familiar if you’ve watched formula renault in 2020, because he became champion. the year before that, runner up in formula renault (to oscar piastri). renault dropped him anyway, presumably because he did not win the title. very interested to see if they’re gonna have to sign him again because he won. anyway, i digress.
rumour’s been going around that max fewtrell and hadrien david will both be dropped from the academy for not acquiring results expected of them. in this i would just like to point out that hadrien is literally 16 and this was his second season of single seaters, and he was a total rookie in formula renault. most recent formula renault champions (max fewtrell, oscar piastri, victor martins) required 2 years to get up to speed in that category. hadrien placed tenth in a field of 22, so not entirely dreadful. max fewtrell’s season was just a disaster all around and given that he has 2 titles to his name (2016 and 2018), i wouldn’t go ahead and call him a bad driver. now i have no clue what happened or why he and hitech decided to part ways before spa but it’s pretty obvious he wasn’t feeling good in that team.
THEN there’s also the matter of the rsa director saying everyone did a fuckin terrible job except oscar. https://formulaspy.com/f1/renault-we-expected-more-from-our-junior-drivers-73087 ‘not mad just disappointed’ vibes.
in short, the rsa just feels like a giant mess and like they’re desperately trying to gather whichever driver is hot topic at the moment and then dropping them without hesitation when they don’t perform up to standard. do they even get support aside from the cycling bootcamps? and WHAT are they even gathering them for, considering there’s the ongoing issue of no renault seats ever going to a member of their academy. my professional conclusion is this: FUCK renault. thank u for ur attention
#.txt#this is so long i did actual research for this#the whole affiliate thing just fuckin baffles me#like. what was the point#'in my professional opinion' being i literally do not know shit i just know that when i have questions about shady shit going#its almost always 100% about money#long post#renault sport academy#this is really just for myself i spent an hour on this n i had fun browsing wikipedia#love doing research when its not for a grade#all stats are just public#for the record i love guanyu i just cant understand his signing from a logical point of view#it makes no sense

A series of name and symbol guides: Everyone else?
Everyone else is infinitely more simple than phosphors, so these get condensed. If anyone has any further questions they can ask me, or the owner or the species, and we’re all on the fanspecies discord open for new friends.
Phosphor: [HERE] @lepiosprites
Throne: [it me]
Throne names can be of any length. Throne have both a first name and a last name, like humans. They do not have middle names. Two Throne can have the same first or last names.
Throne first names always begin with a vowel: “A” “E” “I” “O” “U” or “Y” It otherwise doesn’t matter what the name is, Yasmine and Eyriny are both valid Throne first names.
Throne last names always end with either “EL” or “AL” Uri’s last name is Chantriel and Ilima’s last name is Roceal. both of these are valid Throne last names. “Gabriel” is the one word that can’t be a Throne’s last name as its reserved only for the reigning Crown.
Throne symbols can be just about anything. Throne ID programs require all symbols be unique but from creators perspective its not a hard and fast rule. One symbol is barred from public use and that’s “St Gabriel’s Crest” which is used only by the reigning Crown.
Cootali: @shadow-is-here-and-bi
Cootali names consist of only one name. Cootali do not have last names. Two Cootali can have the same last name.
Cootali names are just something water (or sealife) -adjacent. Wrasse, Squall, Coral, Lampris, are all valid cootali names.
Cootali symbols are generally wavy lines in a circle. They aren’t related to how the Cootali looks or what their name is or their skin color.
Cerbus: @popomerrygamz
Cerbus are similar to Cootali where they only have one name, but their one name is only three letters long. Rus, Ken, Jhi, all valid Cerbus names. Two Cerbus can have the same name.
Cerbus symbols correlate to the sect of Cerbus religion they belong to. These sects are signified by planetary symbols, and all cerbus of the same sect have the same symbol. Pluto is the largest sect. We don’t know enough about Cerbus religion to say what each sect /does/ so dont worry too much when picking a symbol.
Siren: @erifin
Sirens have both first names and last names. Two Sirens can have the same first or last names. Sirens who share a last name are generally family.
Siren first names have five letters and Siren last names have eight letters. Denva, Umiko, Arani are all valid Siren first names. Tsunsoon, Faerimie, Giyatiba, are all valid Siren last names.
Siren symbols are determined by the element they’re affiliated to. △ for Fire △ for Air ▽ for Water ▽ for Earth This is styled similarly to AtLA as far as what each element means. This isnt based on a sirens skin color. the exception being light pink which only Aetherites will be, and only Aetherites can be light pink. We dont know enough about Aetherites to know their symbol, if any, or what they do.

Hi there! Ur art is super cool! i was wondering what art program u use? And also what drawing tablet you have/ would recommend? It was really cool to see the speed paint and the techniques you use! Thank you for sharing it! :D
oh shit hope this isnt old cuz i never saw it lol thank you for the compliment!
I use MediBang Paint Pro! It’s free, and is very similar to FireAlpaca (pretty sure they’re like, affiliated or by the same people or something) and I like it a lot! As for tablet, I have one of those OLD Wacom Intuos bitches, the one with 4 buttons and like, blue tags?
its like, fine lol. I’ve only ever used non-screen tablets so that’s what im used to, and it certainly functions! I dunno if you can buy these ones anymore, and idk how the new intuoses work so i dont really have recommendations haha. My friend just bought a Huion though and he seems to enjoy it? I’ve heard there’s compatibility issues with Huions sometimes, but it might work for you. I think they’re cheaper than Wacoms) As for pen tablet (mine) vs screen tablet, I’d recommend the cheaper pen tablets for hobby work and beginners? Screen tablets are more of a commitment so they’re better for like, money making work/ full time stuff. Mine works well for my current output. :P Hope that helped, and thank you again!

um i love how u write x6, how do u think he would interact w the sosu + other companions post game railroad ending, assuming he was sent to a settlement and isnt immediately hostile to the sosu?
(i know he technically gets hostile if you do any other ending but the institutes, but that’s shit writing and character neglect on bethesdas part.)
Immediately after he’s on high alert, but not looking for trouble. There’s no way he can take on everyone and if he flees, then what? He has nowhere to go. It’s not like he didn’t know it was coming either though. It doesn’t take long after he becomes Soles companion that he realizes that they don’t really have any intentions to join the Institute.
He’d probably blend in with the shadows, waiting for Sole to tell him what to do because honestly, he has no clue what to do or what his purpose is now. Maybe Sole is about to kill him and they just forgot about him. He’s fine with that. Maybe they’re about to make an example out of him to all the surviving Institute affiliates. That’s okay too. As long as something happens soon. He finds himself scared for the first time in... forever. Maybe he should’ve fought with the Institute against Sole but he knows that it wouldn’t matter. Sole would win anyway and honestly he doesn’t like the idea of going against them.
When Sole does find him, he has to smother the fight or flight response. There’s nowhere to run and there’s no way he’ll fight them. He accepts his fate and waits for the final blow. Instead Sole puts their arms around him, pulling him tight against them. He feels them sobbing against his shoulder and he knows enough to put his arms around them too.
He doesn’t know how to cry though.
He’s granted a place with them, if he promises to do right by the people and cast off any allegiance to the Institute and their ways. That’s not a problem to him, it was never his opinion. He wasn’t allowed to have one. All he needs is someone to follow that he trusts and so far Sole has been the only one.
He knows Cait doesn’t trust or like him one bit but she leaves him alone. He appriciates that. As time passes he won’t make too much of an attempt to make friends but he does commend her combat skills and ask to spar from time to time. She never holds back.
Codsworth is a gentleman. He would never make any comments or suggestions of bad character, but X6-88 knows the bot doesn’t trust him that much either. Technically, he is created by the people who tore his family apart, regardless of the bombs. Their interactions are always civil, however, and X6-88 sometimes asks for advice on proper etiquette.
Curie isn’t afraid of him. She might not properly understand his origins but she does love to ask about it. He appriciates her forwardness and doesn’t mind talking to her despite her sometimes invasive questions. They help eachother become a little more human; she teaches him to be softer and he teaches her to be a little tougher.
X6-88 doesn’t care much for Danse and Danse will never accept him. Their backgrounds are just too different, but neither one will seek out the other for a fight. Danse may, sometimes, express his distaste but it doesn’t bother X6-88 at all. He knows the inconvinience a fight among friends would cause Sole and he values them much more than he dislikes Danse.
Deacon and X6-88 rarely interract. He understands that Deacon is loyal to Sole as well but he knows that given just the slightest reason to doubt his own loyalty, he will be executed immediately. Their few interactions are always stiff and he knows that Deacon not only distrusts him, but genuinely despise him. They stay away from eachother as much as possible.
Dogmeat is a friend to everyone who’s a friend to Sole. He definitely notices how the other companions treat X6-88 but if Sole likes him, so does he. X6-88 adores Dogmeats company. Appriciates having someone near that doesn’t talk or request interaction. Likes to just exist near someone.
Hancock takes a while to warm up to the idea of an ex-courser being free to walk around people without strict supervision but eventually understands that X6-88 had no other frame of reference other than the Institute. Considers this his second chance however, and won’t give him a third. They’re not exactly friends but Hancock is a man of the people and understands social situations perfectly, and X6-88 tries to learn from him.
MacCready seems to be equally scared and pissed at him but he’s not in the business of acting on it. Their interactions are always civil and polite but brief. If Duncan is nearby he notices that MacCready becomes much more visibly distressed and so he chooses to keep a distance. Not just because it’s ethically the ‘right thing to do’ but because he doesn’t doubt that MacCready, if pushed into a corner, would do something rash and stupid.
Nick understands X6-88 better than anyone else and doesn’t hold his past against him, if he really is trying to reform. Nick knows firsthand how hard it is to do good and be good when people are continously doubting and using your past nature against you. Nick is probably the closest thing X6-88 has to a friend other than Sole and it’s kind of a friendship based on what they both are and are going through rather than a friendship based on interest and having fun together.
If there’s one thing Piper never thought she’d be doing it’s talking to an Institute puppet without screaming profanities too. She’s always cautious in approaching him at first but once she gets going she can’t help herself. X6-88 thinks it’s intriguing how her thirst for knowledge smothers her fear and he finds himself more than willing to tell her whatever she wants to know. Who’s going to reprimand him for spilling the secrets now? Not that he knows that much. Piper comes to understand that the Institute considered X6-88 a literal tool, nothing close to human, and that he’s trying to emerge from the power they held over him. She’s never going to ask him over for dinner or anything, and she’ll keep Nat a good distance away from the man, but she’s kind of sad to realize he’s not the monster she thought he was.
Preston doesn’t hold his past against him, like Nick, but is also going to make damn sure the Minutemen survive no matter what. Keeps an eye on him and the things he does but as long as X6-88 at least does what Sole says, Preston has no major problem with him. If someone else does, however, that’s between them.X6-88 admires Preston. The worst things that could’ve happened to him happened but he survived and fought through it anyway. He tells him sometime, that he never had much faith in humanity but Preston has proved him wrong. He probably says it much less tactfully and Preston probably doesn’t know if he’s being insulted or complimented but sees the struggle and just thanks him.
Strong assumes that people are wary of him because he’s a fearsome warrior or something. Doesn’t entirely understand the whole faction thing and honestly? He doesn’t care. Humans are humans. Also doesn’t understand why X6-88 apparently isn’t human? Strong is very interested in fighting X6-88 to see who’s the strongest but X6-88 keeps a respectful distance. They’re both two sides of a socially inept coin and there are only misunderstandings between them.
Ada remembers the Mechanist doing bad things thinking it was right until Sole cleared it up with her. Assumes it’s the same with X6-88. She’s not afraid of him. She kind of freaks him out though. If she’s a friend of Sole she’s a friend of his, more or less, but she acts as if she’s not just a bot. And people treat her like she’s not just a bot. But she is a bot. But then, isn’t that what people say about synths? And he’s a synth. So is he a bot or more than that? What’s the truth? Her existence and programming sends him down a spiral of selfdoubt and hard-hitting questions he’s not always ready to deal with (but that he does try to deal with)
Longfellow knows more than well that synths and coursers can reform and change their lives. The only real difference between the two are their job descriptions and hell, Longfellows just too old to give a shit. If he wants to make amends and change his life, let him. X6-88 appriciates the rare kindness Longfellow shows him but finds his lifestyle to not... match with his own. Has no idea why people like alcohol. The first time Longfellow got X6-88 to down a drink he thought he was malfunctioning and followed Sole around with a grip on their jacket until he sobered up. He’s not interested in doing that again.
Gage is probably a bit jealous of the reputation that follows X6-88 around despite the fact that he more or less follows Sole around like a puppy. Gage tries to push him into action but not because he wants everyone to turn on X6-88 and push him away but because he wants to see if it’s true. X6-88 honestly enjoys the testing, finds comfort in how firm he is in his emotions, or lack thereof. Doesn’t much care for Gages previous life, thinks he’s everything the Institute were convinced humanity had become.

via Politics – FiveThirtyEight
Anti-Donald Trump activism among conservatives — known informally as the “#NeverTrump” movement — started in early 2016 as a way to stop the businessman from winning the GOP nomination. It failed.
Even by the slightly broader standard of influencing Republican politics, #NeverTrump has been largely unsuccessful. Trump won around 90 percent of self-identified Republican voters in 2016, similar to past GOP presidential nominees. About 90 percent of Republicans have approved of Trump throughout his first term, similar to George W. Bush’s standing in his first four years in office. And with Trump as the face of the party, Republican congressional candidates won around 90 percent of the GOP vote in the 2018 midterms, just as in recent midterm elections. There is really only one anti-Trump figure among the 249 Republicans on Capitol Hill: Sen. Mitt Romney.
“Never Trumpers” tried to draft a high-profile Republican like Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan to run against Trump for the GOP nomination. That didn’t pan out either. Facing fairly weak opponents, Trump easily won the GOP primaries that occurred earlier this year. Polls also suggest most Republicans will be strongly behind Trump this November too — he is getting about 90 percent of the Republican vote in head-to-head match-ups with the presumptive Democratic nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden.
But “Never Trumpers” are increasingly involved in the Democratic Party and have gradually shifted their tactics in that direction — effectively becoming a “Never Trump” and “Never Bernie Sanders” coalition. And they appear to be having more success shaping their new party than the one that many of them had been associated with for much of their lives. Here’s how that shift has happened.
‘Never Trumpers’ found a home in the media
By pure numbers, the anti-Trump conservative bloc is both fairly small and not that remarkable. The group of Republican voters who disapprove of Trump is similar (but slightly smaller) than Democrats who disapproved of then-President Barack Obama during his first term. Conservatives who really hate Trump probably no longer identify as Republicans — 11 percent of Republicans switched their party affiliation between December 2015 and March 2017, according to Pew. But surveys suggest that the share of Democrats switching affiliation in that same period is about the same. It’s hard to be precise about this: Data suggests at most 10 percent of American voters overall are anti-Trump but generally lean Republican.1 That’s not nothing, but between 40 and 50 percent of Americans are likely to vote for Trump in November.
But while this hard to prove conclusively, anti-Trump conservatives are arguably way overrepresented in elite media, at least compared to their numbers in the general population. The New York Times, for example, has three conservative-leaning but Trump-skeptical opinion columnists — David Brooks, Ross Douthat, Bret Stephens — and no columnists who regularly align with the president. MSNBC has programs fronted by two anti-Trump hosts once closely aligned with the GOP establishment — ex-Rep. Joe Scarborough and Nicolle Wallace, a former communications director for President George W. Bush — and no explicitly pro-Trump hosts. Among the 53 Washington Post opinion writers highlighted on the paper’s website, seven are people who have identified with conservatives and/or the Republican Party in the past but regularly attack Trump. Just four are conservatives who regularly defend the president.2 Numerous anti-Trump conservatives are also featured prominently on CNN.3
How did this happen? Well, from the media perspective, the prominence of “Never Trump” conservatives makes perfect sense. The readers and watchers of The Post, The Times and MSNBC in particular are disproportionately left-leaning.4 So these audiences probably don’t want too much explicitly pro-Trump commentary. At the same time, news outlets usually like to present themselves as both offering a diverse set of voices and not too closely aligned with one party or the other. So by featuring, for example, George Conway, a conservative lawyer turned “Never Trump” leader5 who sharply criticizes the president in his cable news appearances and columns in The Washington Post, the press can essentially suggest, “It’s not just the ‘liberal media,’ even Republicans were angry when Trump did X.”6
But it’s not simply as if the media has hired every Republican who says that they don’t like Trump. Many of the conservatives in high-profile media slots (like Brooks) were there before Trump’s rise. Robert Saldin, a political science professor at the University of Montana and co-author of a new book on anti-Trump conservatives, said the kind of conservatives who get jobs at places like CNN were predisposed to dislike a Trump-style GOP politician.7
Many prominent “Never Trumpers,” Saldin said, operate and make a living in liberal institutions. “They think of their jobs as translating conservative ideas to liberals. They had invested in the idea that conservatism was respectable,” he said. In particular, Saldin said, these figures had worked hard to suggest that racism was not a major feature of conservatism.
“So they were particularly horrified by Trump because he embodied what they had spent their careers saying was not conservatism,” he added.
In my interviews with several prominent “Never Trump” conservatives, they not only suggested the group’s high-media profile was somewhat accidental, but were kind of defensive about it.
Tim Miller, a prominent “Never Trump” activist who worked on Sen. John McCain and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s presidential campaigns, dismissed the notion that “‘Never Trumpers’ are only in green rooms.”
But getting into media consumed by liberals is in some ways the only game in town for anti-Trump conservatives, since Fox News is very pro-Trump and features few critics of the president. And that platform to reach Democrats has been particularly useful for “Never Trump” conservatives because …
They allied with more centrist Democrats
The core argument of “Never Trump” Republicans goes something like this:
Trump is a much worse person and leader than other recent GOP presidents (the Bushes) or presidential nominees (McCain, Romney).
Democrats and Republicans who disagree on issues such as abortion and tax policy should put aside those differences for now and unite in opposing Trump because he is a threat to fundamental American values like the rule of law.
And finally, there is a sizable bloc of Republicans who will join with Democrats to challenge Trump — so long as Democrats don’t move too far ideologically to the left.
This argument may not be totally true. And the “Never Trump” narrative is clearly self-serving — of course a group of conservatives who feel like they don’t fit in the current Republican Party prefer a more conservative Democratic Party that they can align with.
But true or not, this narrative matters because it has mirrored and likely influenced the Democratic Party’s post-Trump strategy. Since Trump’s victory, Democrats have done a lot of soul-searching. Is the party too left? Or is it too establishment and centrist? Are Democrats ignorant of the concerns of the Americans who don’t live on the coasts? Are they too focused on nonwhite voters — or not focused on them enough?
Faced with these complicated questions in 2017 and 2018, Democrats took an approach that was broadly similar to the “Never Trumpers” — attacking Trump as a uniquely dangerous threat to American democracy while resisting more liberal policy ideas and recruiting fairly centrist candidates in key congressional races. This approach led some “Never Trumpers” to get behind Democrats in the midterms — moving beyond simply opposing Trump to fighting the Republican Party more broadly.
“By at least early 2018, if not late 2017, there was general understanding that we needed to build a cross-partisan pro-democracy coalition that could prevail over Trumpism, which meant helping to unite Democrats, independents and principled conservatives,” said Evan McMullin, the anti-Trump conservative who ran for president in 2016 and now runs a group called Stand Up Republic that focuses on defending democratic values.
“Fortunately, Democratic leadership and many candidates in competitive districts naturally understood this opportunity and what it required,” he added. “Unifying candidates like Ben McAdams in Utah and Abigail Spanberger in Virginia were examples of those who attracted the support of principled conservatives and Republicans.”
It’s hard to quantify exactly how many anti-Trump conservatives backed Democrats in 2018 and how big a role they played in Democrats taking the House and winning many key governor’s races.8 But that temporary alliance between “Never Trump” Republicans and Democrats was strengthened in 2019 for two reasons. First, “Never Trump” Republicans found there was little appetite in the GOP for a primary challenge to Trump — another illustration of their declining influence within the party. And second, in a final blow for some of them, Republicans largely stood by Trump even as details emerged about his efforts to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens.
“I was so sure there was going to be a handful of Republicans who were going to say it was clearly wrong,” said Sarah Longwell, a longtime Republican strategist who was heavily involved in the effort to recruit a challenger to Trump. She added, “It’s been a slow realization that there isn’t anybody left who is going to say anything.”
In response, many of the “Never Trumpers” decided to get even deeper into Democratic politics, injecting themselves into the party’s fractious presidential primary. And they had an obvious path to take: While Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were pushing Democrats to take more liberal policy stands, several candidates were echoing the views of the “Never Trumpers.” Former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg was arguing that a Democratic candidate with fairly moderate policy ideas could win over Republicans in a general election, emphasizing his potential appeal to “future former Republicans.” Sen. Amy Klobuchar made similar arguments. Biden was publicly noting how much he likes the writings of The New York Times’s Brooks, who was calling for Democrats to avoid going too far left.
When Sanders did well in the early primaries and seemed like he could win the Democratic nomination, “Never Trump” conservatives turned into a “Never Bernie” coalition. The “Never Trumpers” argument — that Sanders couldn’t win the general election, in part because anti-Trump Republicans (like themselves) wouldn’t vote for him– was compelling, particularly for a Democratic Party obsessed with beating Trump. And the “Never Trumpers” were already in the ideal positions to make these arguments and reach Democratic Party elites and primary voters — the web pages of The Atlantic, The New York Times and The Washington Post and on MSNBC. Miller, in an anti-Trump publication called The Bulwark, described how he and other Republicans had failed to mobilize effectively against Trump in the 2016 GOP primary and laid out a step-by-step guide for how Democrats could avoid the same fate. (The piece was widely circulated on Twitter.)
Sanders’s allies noticed all of this, of course, and started to publicly complain that MSNBC, in particular, was covering his candidacy too negatively. It’s hard to prove that a lot of Democratic primary voters were “Never Trumpers” or that Democratic voters were particularly swayed by the group’s warning about Sanders. But “Never Trump” conservatives were thrilled with Biden’s victories on Super Tuesday — and think they played a part in it.
“One group that really mattered in the primaries were the high-information voters, the people who watch MSNBC, listen to ‘The Daily,’” said Miller, referring to a popular New York Times podcast. “A lot of these people went from Harris to Warren to Buttigieg and finally landed on Biden. For these voters, it was all an assessment of who could defeat Trump. For them, we [“Never Trumpers”] have a unique experience and insight.”
“Our message before and during the early primary elections was that principled conservatives and Republicans were a winnable bloc and could provide the decisive votes in general election swing states as long as Democrats didn’t nominate a divisive, far-left candidate,” McMullin said. “Appropriately, Democratic voters prioritized replacing Trump in 2020 above other issues.”
They’ve become a faction of the Democratic Party
As I explained earlier, it is possible that 5 to 10 percent of the people who will vote for Biden in November backed either Romney in 2012 or Trump in 2016 and at some point identified as conservative or Republican. So while “Never Trump” conservatives are a smaller and less formal constituency in the Democratic Party than black voters, for example, some of them feel exiled from a Republican Party dominated by Trump, backed Democrats in the 2018 midterms and participated in the 2020 Democratic primaries. Michael Halle, a strategist on Buttigieg’s campaign, said about 50 of the campaign’s county precinct captains in Iowa were former Republicans who changed their party registration to become Democrats so they could participate in the caucuses and back the former mayor.
Those exiled Republicans are already mobilizing behind Biden in the general election. They are urging fellow conservatives not to support Rep. Justin Amash, who left the GOP in 2019 and last week announced an exploratory committee for a presidential run as the Libertarian candidate. They argue Amash’s candidacy might increase Trump’s chances of reelection.
So “Never Trump” conservatives can probably make some demands of Biden, just like any other constituency in the party, and he might feel some need to court them.
And that seems to be happening. The former vice president hinted recently that he might name some Republicans to his cabinet or transition team. Rumors of his consideration of Klobuchar for vice president is no doubt largely about her potential appeal to voters in the Midwest, but her more centrist politics also make her a favorite of some moderate Republicans.
“I don’t know that Biden needs a message for ‘Never Trumpers’ — most ‘Never Trumpers’ are going to vote for Biden,” Miller said. But, he added, “I do think eventually the campaign should have a message for them.”
Mostly, “Never Trumpers” simply want Biden to run a general election campaign similar to his primary run, emphasizing more moderate policies and appealing to more centrist voters.
“I don’t want him to make crazy sacrifices to the left that he doesn’t need to make,” Miller said.
The extent to which “Never Trumpers” become card-carrying members of the Democratic Party might have broad implications for the party’s future. Are we seeing the birth of a new, ex-conservative faction in the Democratic Party, or the resurgence of an existing one — with “Never Trump” conservatives joining with longtime Democratic moderates? Could that wing of the party become as strong as it was in the 1990s? The 2018 general elections and the 2020 primaries suggest more centrist Democratic candidates are winning among white, college-educated voters in the suburbs against both Trump Republicans but also Sanders Democrats. That’s an opportunity for Democrats to expand their coalition — after all, white voters are the majority of American voters. It’s also likely to be a challenge: The more liberal bloc of the Democratic Party increasingly favors big, transformative policies on economic issues that longtime moderate Democrats and ex-Republicans are unlikely to ever embrace.
On the other hand, the alliance between “Never Trump” conservatives and Democrats could be a fleeting one. If Trump loses badly in November, perhaps anti-Trump Republicans can regain influence in the party many of them still want to be in.
“If he loses, there is a lot of room for a fight over the soul of the party,” Longwell said.
“If he wins, then it’s pretty definitive.”

hi! I know you do a lot of vod archiving stuff and i was wondering if you'd be able to give some tips for someone who's never done it before? i do have twitch leecher, but I've been having issues with actually locating a vod to download it - not sure if that's because TL is discontinued or something else/user error. so, yeah, i guess I'm just wanting whatever pointers you're willing to give? thanks in advance :)
ok so the biggest thing is that VODs disappear after some amount of time. for everyone who isnt a twitch partner, that time period is very short - non-affiliates have a week, and affiliates MIGHT have two weeks (I think the exact amounts of time may have changed). twitch partners have two months.
once those two months pass the vod is no longer recoverable by any method! so that's not good
in the event that a VOD isnt older than 2 months old, your guy is a partner, and your guys vod isnt appearing, it may be that you need to use twitch recover. twitch recover is still in its infancy and a bit confusing to learn but it's a very useful tool to have - with it you can download vods that have been deleted by the streamer or glitched and were hidden by twitch
in terms of program I would suggest also installing twitch downloader, which is another twitch vod downloading program but it actually has a UI (this is a point in its favor) and is relatively simple to use - just past the VOD link, get info, download, and let it run. TD is not discontinued and still is receiving updates which is nice
OH YEAH and if you cant find a certain vod and you know it should exist use twitchtracker thats a website that catalogues stream data from twitch users! sometimes its not 100% correct but you should be able to find a stream that you remember happening on there, and you can confirm if theres a vod available publicly at this time or not. (And you can use the twitchtracker link to help recover the VOD w/ Recover later, if it's not older than 60 days and the VOD wasnt spontaneously nuked by twitch out of nowhere)
That's the best I can do without knowing more about what exactly you're struggling with, so I hope it helps! Best of luck !!! o7

A concept I might not draw again for a while but I'm excited to develop more.
Basically its a Bnha x Naruto crossover wher Naruto and the others attend a more "countryside" academy— Konoha Academy(I know its lame, sue me)— and he's a 3rd year, based around shippuden.
Naruto wears the school uniform incorrectly— using the belt as a headband, wearing his jacket under his uniform blazer(with the collared button down underneath— he's a disaster), he wears boots even though there's some provided uniform shoes that do fit him perfectly and feel better than those boots. Meanwhile, Sasuke and Sakura both wear their's as the rules state.
I'll just touch upon the main four's quirks and a bit of how I see their background.
Naruto's quirk is "life force(chakra) manipulation"— I haven't thought of a better name yet— where he can make his shadow clones(which are vivid and almost solid illusions created with pure life force/chakra), use rasengan, and all the other techniques that require chakra. Naruto strives to be number 1, although he does not idolize All Might(if I do decide to include his influence in this AU), rather he idolizes his father and even Jiraiya(as well as Sarutobi).
Sasuke's quirk is just copying other quirks with his sharingan— which is a quirk varient only seen in the Uchiha family— its like a fusion between Monoma's quirk and Aizawa's. I haven't gone into the other types yet, still thinking of those. Sasuke attended an exclusive program only Konoha Academy has(more on that in a bit) and his first year(age 11) went well until the middle of it when he was struck by a villian(Orochimaru) and was permanently affected by his quirk— ie, the curse mark. It still affects him in his 3rd year of the academy and has forced him to be supervised at all times. Reason being is because the quirk causes him to seek power and not stop until the power is given to him, like going off to Orochimaru(its not the only way but it does cause the person to WANT to go to him). It also amplifies his quirk, which just strengthen whatever qyirk he copies.
Sakura can heal others with her palm, accelerating skin cell growth and the whatnot. Her's is pretty basic but isnt exactly battle ready— and thats actually because shes training to be an on field nurse, something Tsunade has finally convinced the village(just their village/the leaf village) to try out. However, field nurses are expected to be able to defend themselves and help in a fight, so Sakura uses hero tools(more on that later) to aid her. I havent thought of much for Sakura yet, its a bit of a struggle since she isnt too relevant in most arcs— which I wanna change in this AU.
Lastely, Kakashi harbors two quirks; Lightening blade and Sharingan. He and Obito was subjected to testing— think about the nomus and such because thats exatly it ;)— in their 2nd year. Obito risked his life to let Kakashi escape, and in the midst of things, during the escape that is, somehow Obito's quirk was given to Kakashi(its obvious to us how he got it but not to him or Obito). Obito willingly gave up his quirk to AFO without knowing he did and AFO just gave it away— I dont have a solid reasoning yet, but maybe because its literally AFO but with eyes and its limited. Kakashi was once a hired bounty hunter for the more rouge and dangerous villains other heroes dont want to go after, but then Gai convinced him to quit because the job was changing him. After that, Kakashi was offered a position as a teacher at the academy.
How the academy works:
11-13 year olds are open to apply for a junior program, to get a head start in their hero training— not studies. After that they are guaranteed a spot in the main academy— for example, Hinata and Neji were both accepted into the program and then immediately granted a spot without needing to apply; meanwhile, Naruto was not in the program, but he was taught a lot by Iruka(which is who essentially raised him since he was about 4) and got in after applying and taking the exam(which yes he almost failed).
After a year or two in the program, depending on age(11 is 2 years, while 12 is 1 year), they move up to their 1st year year in the academy where they start their studies and further their training, just more intense. The academy lasts 3 years like a typical Japanese highschool. They have all their general classes of course and then theres their hero classes. The school is mostly comprised of hero students, with field nurse students sprinkled in.
After the 3rd year, all students have the option to sign up for a program that will guarantee them a spot in a real agency as a sidekick— the internship program. Its like an extra 4th year except they arent actually in the school as students anymore. Some are assigned to heroes not affiliated with the school, to which hero assignments are changed at the start of every week(they get new hero partners). And then some are assigned to a teacher's agency. All the students are required to come back to the school to fill out their reports, which are technically graded and only for the purpose of correcting it before official reports are ever made [outside of the program].
Class teams:
Class teams are exactly what the name suggests. In their 1st year, three students are assigned to be a team. Its to teach them about team work very early on. Class teams are only disbanded in their 3rd year at the end of their first semester. The rest of the year students study and partake in feild training on their own. Class teams do get individual teachers that stay well into their 3rd year. Each class is actually very small and so grouping them into teams is easy.
Hero tools:
Hero tools are pretty obvious. In the academy, every student is required to learn how to use a hero tool, even if they dont require one because of their quirk, and any kind is acceptable— the academy's provided tools are kunai and shurinken, but students can design and develop their own hero tool(s) if they so wish— for example, Sakura uses the basic hero tools provided by the school, but then theres Shikamaru who developed his own tool that would help produce more shadows that would help him use his quirk better.
Feel free ask about this I guess.I want to make a comic out of this in the future, when I get my tablet, so I just want to develop this more before I get too ahead in drawing it.

Media Assessment of Issue
https://www.npr.org/2018/03/25/596880500/the-great-pacific-garbage-patch-much-bigger-than-previously-thought - NPR objective source
Subject: The main point of this article is to convey the issue of plastics collecting in the ocean. It is a thorough examination of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Author: Christopher Joyce, a correspondent on the science desk of NPR. He is also an established author of The Stories Bones Tell and Earthly Goods: Medicine-Hunting in the Rainforest. He has a history and experience in reporting scientific news and evidence to the public.
Context: This story was released on March 25th, 2018. It was first put on, All Things Considered, the National public radio program.
Audience: This source is objective and does not hold a bias to either side. This is significant because it only reports the facts of the issue. It does not digress but only focuses on the Pacific Garbage Patch and the problems with plastic waste in the Ocean.
Perspective: The article is neutral and does not point fingers at a certain group. The article claims that the trash comes from both the fishing industries and plastics on land. According to the article, the solution to this problem is stopping the trash at river arteries and coastal environments before it disperses into the ocean. Because most people believe the trash pollution is a problem, it’s more about what they think the severity of the issue is. The article
Significance: Because the purpose of the article is to draw more attention to the Garbage Patch, they don’t need to twist evidence. The author refers to the problem of fishing gear in the ocean. He talks about “ghost nets” that are lost by fishing boats and continue to trap and kill fish as they float in the ocean.
https://www.motherjones.com/environment/2019/01/remember-that-20-million-ocean-cleanup-project-it-isnt-working/ mother jones (liberal source)
Subject: The main point of the article is to convey the failed efforts to clean the ocean, specifically the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The central message is that it’s up to non-profit and non-governmental organizations to figure out a solution.
Author: The author of the article is Paola Rosa-Aquino. Not much information is given about her or her background. But she is a left-wing Latina Environmental Justice Fellow. She writes environmental articles for Mother Jones and Grist. Her articles are left-leaning and usually anti-Trump.
Context: The article was released on January 1st, 2019 in the environmental section of the Mother Jones website. Although the main focus is on the Pacific Garbage Patch, Rosa-Aquino indirectly targets the current administration’s lack of urgency with the issue. Putting a subtle politically biased piece in the environmental section adds to the belief and doubt that our government cares for the issue of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Audience: The source is created to appeal to a liberal, most likely younger, audience. The author uses phrases like “yikes” and includes a YouTube link for a visual aid to further describe the ocean cleanup technology being used. Rosa-Aquino specifies that the Ocean Cleanup Project is a non-government organization.
Perspective: The article is subjective and holds a more liberal agenda. The article is stating information about the failed attempts to clean up plastic from the ocean. Rosa-Aquino reports on the facts of the issue but holds a slight bias.
Significance: She interviews the founder of the Ocean Cleanup Project, Boyan Slat, and reports his opinion on the matter. She includes his statement that what their project is doing “has never been done before.” The evidence subtly points at the failures of the current administration and environmental policies or lack thereof. I agree more with this article because it delivers information on the organization attempting to clean the ocean. Although it holds a bias, it is slightly more objective and avoids pointing too many fingers.
https://nypost.com/2019/01/04/mission-to-clean-up-ocean-pollution-put-on-hold-indefinitely/
Subject: The article is about the setbacks and failures of the Ocean Cleanup Project. The technology needs to be repaired after recent damages. The central message is that the project is not helping the oceans or reducing plastic in the Pacific Garbage Patch. According to the article: “One ocean expert called the breakdown predictable.”
Author: The author is Natalie O’Neill, a young caucasian female residing in Oregon. She a freelance journalist for the New York Post and other conservative news outlets. Her affiliation to other conservative sources is important because it shows her own personal bias towards right-leaning reporting.
Context: The article was released in the news column on the New York Post website on January 4th, 2019. This was three days after the previous article by Paola Rosa-Aquino was released.
Audience: The source was created for a conservative audience as it was released on the right-wing leaning source: The New York Post. The article contains many negative connotations about the Ocean Cleanup Project and its failure to help the issue. People reading it are lead to believe that the non-government organization is a complete failure and a waste of money. This affects the reliability of the source because the issue is obviously extremely important, but the article is only pointing out the project’s setbacks and unreliability.
Perspective: The article is biased towards a conservative agenda. The author does not directly claim that the Ocean Cleanup Project is a waste of time and money but, O’Neill includes phrases and biased quotes and sources. She sites “one ocean expert” who called the breakdown “predictable.” I do not agree with the bias in this article because I believe she is minimizing the severity of the issue and discrediting the attempts of the Ocean Cleanup Project.
Significance: The evidence she uses is somewhat unreliable. Like I mentioned, she is vague and sites “one ocean expert.” She also only includes evidence for the negative aspects of the organization’s plan. She portrays the “liberal” efforts as poorly thought out and executed: “‘I certainly hope they will be able to get it to work, but this is a very difficult environment where equipment breaks, which is why you normally do things closer to shore, where things are easier to repair,’ said Miriam Goldstein, director of ocean policy at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank.”
SIMILARITIES OF ARTICLES:
the articles all describe the size and (to different degrees) the issue of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The subjective articles reported on the same event with differing perspectives. While both of them included the name of the organization and its goal to clean the ocean, the conservative outlet focused more on its failures and inability to operate. The liberal one did not include as much of that information in the article and centered on the goals and positive efforts. The objective article from NPR remains factual and does not actively disclose or put forth information that leans right or left.
I identify more with the NPR article. I thought I would lean more towards the liberal source, but the article did not include as much information as it should have. The NPR article was not on the same topic of the Ocean Cleanup Project, but it still offered different indiviuduals solutions to the issue without bias.

I was curious as someone who wants to publish and also run their own publishing company ish thing one day. How do you find sensitivity readers that are trustworthy to be knowledgeable of their source? And how do you find a copy editing class that doesn't seem like bs if your local college doesn't have one?
Natalia Sylvester actually has an excellent article on this on her blog:
https://writerunboxed.com/2017/03/03/what-a-sensitivity-reader-is-and-isnt-and-how-to-hire-one/
She also recommends the use of the Sensitivity Readers Database to look for people who are qualified and looking to do this kind of work, but I believe Justina Ireland who founded it has since given up on active maintenance of the site because it was a ton of emotional labor and people being toxic as hell to her, but the website is still up and usable, just not (hopefully) at the cost of her mental well being: http://writeinthemargins.org/sensitivity-readers/ (edit: apparently the database is now entirely inactive)
(Both excellent writers btw)
I’m fortunate in that I have writer/editor friends who I can usually tap for advice (I always offer to pay, because it is a service, and often times I very emotionally and mentally intensive one) but I have referred my clients to the SRD in the past with good results.
As for training, I got my qualifications through Publishing Scotland which runs recognized training/certification courses, and then primarily through hands on work like a traditional apprenticeship when the house that took me on realized I was actually kind of good at certain things. (Was only ever meant to be an assistant haha). I’m not sure what the equivalent would be anywhere else in the world, but it might be worth a shot asking your college career councilor (if your school has one) if they know of any affiliate programs/where to find out.
Alternatively, someone who stayed more in the loop than I have over the last few years, might be able to help out in the comments :)
