[ad_1] From Left: Vibin Mohanan, Jithin MS, Thoiba Singh, Valpuia, Irfan Edwad. Source: Instagram The players selected by India head coach Manolo Marquez have kicked off preparations for the country’s upcoming international friendly against Malaysia on November 18 in Hyderabad. Malaysia will face Laos on November 14 before arriving in India for their friendly clash. For the Marquez-led Indian team, this game may not affect their standing, as they have already secured a spot in Pot 1 for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers draw. However, Marquez will be using this opportunity to make the necessary adjustments ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers set to begin in March 2025. Since taking charge in July, Márquez has focused on using friendly matches and training sessions to refine his lineup for the Asian Cup Qualifiers. Under his guidance, India is yet to secure a win, having drawn twice and losing once in three matches, making the Malaysia game a vital opportunity to test his best playing combination. “It’s true that we want to check some new players. But obviously it’s impossible to change the whole group and call 40 players in March. It’s true that we are finding the group. It means that we have maybe 14, 15, 16 players who will be there, but we don’t know exactly. And there are a lot of players who can get there. Obviously, it’s still four months, and the situation can change with a lot of things; unfortunately with injuries and the players’ domestic form. But, I repeat again, as a coach you need to find the group which can play the style that we want.” Said the Indian team head coach. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Indian Football Team in a hurdle (PC: Indian Football/X)) The coach announced a 26-member squad, retaining the core from recent games while adding a few surprise inclusions. Jithin MS, Vibin Mohanan, Hmingthanmawia Ralte (Valpuia), Irfan Yadwad, and Thoiba Singh have all been called up for the first time, rewarded for consistent performances in domestic leagues. Here’s a closer look at why each of these players could become valuable assets for Marquez’s set-up: Hmingthanmawia Ralte (Valpuia) Having gained prominence last season for Mumbai City FC, Valpuia has locked down the right-back spot, especially after Rahul Bheke’s transfer to Bengaluru FC. His tenacity and defensive capabilities on the right flank earned him his first national call-up. This season, Valpuia has maintained strong numbers: 1 clean sheet, 8 interceptions, 11 tackles won, and 33 duels won across 7 matches. It remains to be seen if the coach will test him as a replacement for first-choice right-back Ashis Rai. Jithin MS Fans have long advocated for Jithin MS’s inclusion in the national squad. Although an injury dashed his hopes in a previous call-up, his strong showing in the Durand Cup and ISL caught Marquez’s eye. After winning the Durand Cup 2024 Golden Boot, Jithin has continued to shine in the ISL, already delivering 4 assists for North East United. Though he’s yet to score, his aggressive runs down the flanks have proven a challenge for opposing defenders. Vibin Mohanan Regarded as one of Indian football’s brightest prospects, Vibin Mohanan has been a standout for Kerala Blasters this ISL season. At just 21, his composure and skill have been impressive. In 8 games, Vibin has played 660 minutes, averaging 45 passes per match, creating 7 chances, and delivering 7 key passes—numbers rivalled by only a few midfielders in the league. A Kerala Blasters academy graduate with experience in India’s youth squads, Vibin will face stiff competition in the camp but is sure to gain valuable experience. Irfan Yadwad Irfan Yadwad has emerged as a key find for Chennaiyin FC under Owen Coyle. After scoring just once last season, Irfan has already tallied a goal and 2 assists this season, consistently making his presence felt in the opposition box. Thoiba Singh Thoiba Singh’s outstanding defensive displays for Odisha FC this season earned him a last-minute national call-up after Mohun Bagan’s Anirudh Thapa was sidelined due to injury.
In 6 ISL matches, Thoiba has registered 10 tackles, 14 duels, and 19 recoveries. Originally a product of the Minerva Football Academy, Thoiba joined Odisha in 2021 and made an immediate impact this season when he stepped up after Carlos Delgado’s injury. Competing with names like Sandesh Jhingan, Anwar Ali, and Rahul Bheke, his debut national camp will be invaluable as he learns from these seasoned players. Still awaiting his first win with India, the India head coach is patient and not too desperate at the moment. For now, the key is to find the right groove with the right bunch and get results where they matter the most. “Obviously everyone wants to win every game. But the feeling we got after the draw with Vietnam was completely different from what we got after drawing with Mauritius or losing to Syria. In some moments, we played superb. The one key thing is that the players have to believe in our style of play. I want to win every game and even every training session. The Malaysia game is the last friendly window before the official games.” Also Read: “I believe it has all the potential to be the best World Cup ever”: Neymar Jr on Saudi Arabia’s plans to host the FIFA World Cup 2034 The post Fresh Faces & New Hopes: India Prepare for Malaysia Friendly appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. Proven track record of success in professional football.
Nathan Noël Romejo Tjoe-A-On, born 22 December 2001 is a professional footballer who plays as a left-back, center-back or midfielder for EFL Championship club Swansea City. Born in the Netherlands, he plays for the Indonesia national team.
Tjoe-A-On was signed to a three-year contract with Excelsior in 2019, after developing through their youth system. However, injuries stunted his development and he lost around 14 months of playing and training time. After the 2021–22 winter break he returned to action and gained confidence in his ability and felt able to do himself justice on the football field again.
Following their promotion from the Eerste Divisie at the end of the 2021–22 season he received a contract extension in June 2022, for an additional two years. He made his Eredivisie debut for Excelsior on 12 August 2022 against SC Cambuur at Cambuur Stadion in a 2–0 victory. On 9 September 2022, he scored his first professional league goal, helping Excelsior to a 2–1 win over FC Emmen.
In October 2023, reports in Indonesia suggested that Tjoe-A-On was invited to play internationally for the Indonesia national football team through naturalization. On 12 October 2023, Tjoe-A-On watched and talked directly with PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir and Indonesian President Joko Widodo when the Indonesian national team hosted Brunei Darussalam in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
On 7 March 2024, Tjoe-A-On received a call-up to the Indonesia national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers match against Vietnam on 21 March and 26 March 2024. On 21 March 2024, he made his international debut for Indonesia in a 1–0 win against Vietnam.
In April 2024, Tjoe-A-On was named in the Indonesia U23 final squad for the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup held in Qatar. He was initially only allowed to play in the group stage and returned to the Netherlands afterward. However his club Heerenveen eventually let him return to Qatar and play in the quarter-finals.
𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗥
Due to the X new rules and policy, I would like to declare that this account is just for roleplayer purpose only. I’m not the real Nathan Tjoe-A-On, I don’t have any connection to the real one. Thank you.

AFC World Cup Qualifiers recap: Round 3
Australia 3:1 China PR
Following a recent managerial change, the Socceroos have returned to winning form. Under Tony Popovic’s leadership, the team entered the match as clear favourites despite their recent challenges. Although they conceded an early goal against the run of play, Australia maintained their pressure and secured a 3-1 victory over the Red Dragons. This result provides much-needed relief and lifts them to second place in the standings, with four points from three matches. Goal scorers for Australia: Lewis Miller, Craig Goodwin, Nishan Velupillay Goal scorer for China PR: Wenneng Xie
Jordan 0:2 South Korea
The Asian Cup runners-up faced a setback in their latest World Cup qualifier, falling to the Taeguk Warriors. South Korea dominated the match, maintaining control of possession and limiting Jordan’s opportunities to hold onto the ball. Despite having just 25% possession, Jordan managed to take more shots (13) than their opponents (12). However, their efforts fell short as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against the clearly superior South Korean side. With this victory, South Korea solidified their position as table toppers, while Jordan remains in 3rd place. Goal scorers for Korea Republic: Young-woo Seol, Hyun-gyu Oh
Uzbekistan 0:0 IR Iran
Team Melli played to a draw against the White Wolves of Central Asia, with both sides proving evenly matched—each recording 10 shots throughout the game. Despite their parity in statistics, Team Melli showed greater attacking intent and might have secured all three points if not for the heroics of Utkir Yusupov, Uzbekistan’s goalkeeper, who made four crucial saves. In contrast, Uzbekistan struggled in front of goal, managing only one shot on target. Due credit must be given to Team Melli for maintaining the scoreline after being reduced to 10 men in the 57th minute, following Saleh Hardani's dismissal by the referee. Their resilience and determination in the face of adversity played a crucial role in securing the draw against a competitive opponent. Following this match, both teams remain level with 7 points each, but Uzbekistan holds the top spot in the standings due to a superior goal difference.
Bahrain 2:2 Indonesia
The Red Devils of Asia played to a draw against Team Garuda on October 10, 2024. Talajic's side showcased their dynamic attacking style, keeping Indonesia on the defensive for much of the match. Their efforts paid off early, with Mohamed Jasim Marhoom netting a stunning long-range goal in the first half, shaking Team Garuda. However, Indonesia quickly responded just before halftime, with Ragnar Oratmangoen levelling the score. The match remained tightly contested, and although Indonesia came close to victory, Marhoom struck again in the final minutes to equalize, neutralizing the lead that had been established by Rafael Struick. This result marks Indonesia's third consecutive draw, leaving them still in search of their first win, while Bahrain holds 4th place with 4 points. Goal scorer for Bahrain: Mohamen J Marhoom Goal scorers for Indonesia: Ragnar Oratmangoen, Rafael Struick
Oman 4:0 Kuwait
Oman delivered a dominant performance against Kuwait in their latest FIFA World Cup qualifier, securing a resounding victory in Muscat. From the outset, Oman took control of the match, consistently pressing forward while Kuwait's defence struggled to keep up. Oman registered 17 shots compared to Kuwait's 8, highlighting their offensive superiority. Abdulrahman Al Mushaifri earned the Man of the Match award with a well-deserved brace. This much-needed win propels Oman to 4th place in the standings, while Kuwait remains winless, with two draws and one loss. Goal scorers for Oman: Abdulrahman Al Mushaifri, Abdullah Fawaz, Muhsen Al Ghasani
UAE 1:1 DPR Korea
In what can be termed a shocking result, the UAE dropped points against North Korea in a nail-biting game of football. North Korea turned out to be a surprisingly tough team to compete against for UAE, as they struggled to find the back of the net against the east asian team. Despite clearly being the better side, North Korea conceded first and had to work hard to restore the scoreline. Their efforts paid off as they were presented with the opportunity to level the score from the spot but Khalid Elsa stood tall and made a crucial save which allowed UAE to hold onto their lead. The lead didn't last long as Il Gwan Jong scored in the 88th minute to draw level allowing North Korea to salvage a point from this game. The UAE currently holds 3rd place in the standings with 4 points, while DPR Korea is positioned second last with 2 points from three matches. Despite their recent draw, the UAE remains ahead in the race, while North Korea is still searching for their first win of the campaign. Goal scorer for UAE: Yahya Alghassani Goal scorer for DPR Korea: Il Gwan Jong
Qatar 3:1 Kyrgyzstan
Qatar secured a crucial victory over Kyrgyzstan in their FIFA World Cup qualifier, living up to their pre-match billing as clear favorites. Tintin Marquez's side demonstrated their attacking prowess, preventing Kyrgyzstan from settling into their usual rhythm. Akram Afif delivered another standout performance, while Almoez Ali made his mark with a goal. This win propels Qatar to 4th place in the standings with 4 points from three games, while Kyrgyzstan's winless run continues in their pursuit of the World Cup 2026 qualification. Goal scorers for Qatar: Almoez Ali, Ibrahim Al Hassan, Tamirlan Kozubaev (OG) Goal scorers for Kyrgyzstan: Alimardon Shukurov
Saudi Arabia 0:2 Japan
The Samurai Blue continued their flawless performance in the World Cup qualifier on Thursday with a decisive victory over the Green Falcons of Arabia. Despite the valiant efforts of Roberto Mancini's squad, they proved no match for the Japanese, who showcased their dominance as the leading team in Asian football. Although Saudi Arabia enjoyed higher possession and took more shots than Japan, their efforts were rendered ineffective as the Japanese displayed greater efficiency in front of the goal. This victory keeps Japan at the top of the standings with a perfect record, while Saudi Arabia sits in 3rd place with 4 points. Goal scorers for Japan: Daichi Kamada, Koki Ogawa
Iraq 1:0 Palestine
The Lions of Mesopotamia secured a vital victory against a resilient Palestine in their latest World Cup qualifier. The Iraqi side, managed by Jesus Garcia, entered the match as clear favourites, demonstrating both physical and technical superiority. Aymen Hussein's decisive goal in the 31st minute proved to be the match-winner, allowing Iraq to claim all three points. Despite Palestine's determined efforts in the closing minutes, the Iraqi defense held firm, ensuring a clean sheet. With two wins from three matches, Iraq remains undefeated and sits in 2nd place in the standings, level on points with group leaders South Korea, while Palestine occupies the bottom position with 2 draws and 1 loss from three games. Goal scorer for Iraq: Aymen Hussein
