Romantic Scenarios
If I could draw, I would have drawn these instead of writing them out, but alas, writing is all I can contribute. This is 99% aesthetics and 1% plot.
Characters: Argenti, Jiaoqiu, Aventurine, Ratio, Sunday, and Luocha
🌹 Argenti
Inside an abandoned chapel of the Goddess Idrila, stood a princess and her knight. Moss and ivy covered the crumbling walls, and grass poked through the marble tiles, creating a carpet for you and Argenti to tread upon. You stood in front of the altar, illuminated by sunlight shining from the holes in the ceiling and the intact stained glass windows above. Argenti knelt on one knee before you, gazing at you with equal parts of devotion and adoration while extending a red rose to you, swearing to protect you as your loyal knight and secret lover.
🦊 Jiaoqiu
You entered a small medicine shop, and were greeted with the pleasant aroma of exotic spices and herbs. The walls were covered in shelves chock-full of colorful bottles, vials, and jars containing various liquids and powders. Behind the counter at the back of the shop sits Jiaoqiu, welcoming you with a sly smile and a polite greeting. A familiar tickling in your throat sent you into a coughing fit, and you cover your mouth with your hand while a concerned Jiaoqiu quickly walked over to you. Once your coughing subsided, you held up a flower petal for Jiaoqiu to see, one you had expelled from your lungs, much to his astonishment. He was your last hope, you said, your last hope in curing this mysterious illness. (Hanahaki AU)
🃏 Aventurine
Rain drizzled a steady beat against the window of your apartment. It was the middle of the night and the room was pitch dark, save for the dim light of a fluorescent shop sign shining inside from a neighboring building. It cast cyan and magenta hues through the window, outlining your and Aventurine’s silhouettes while you made out on the couch. Your wet hair was stuck to your face, both your and his hands eagerly peeled away the rain-drenched clothes on your bodies, but you didn’t feel the cold. There was only the warmth of Aventurine’s lips and the scorching heat of his whispered “I love you”s.
📘 Ratio
Countless stars reflected in the surface of the glassy, still lake, creating a beautiful cosmic pool. You and Ratio stood a few feet away from the water, gazing up at the glittering sky. It was a bit chilly so Ratio allowed you inside his jacket, holding you close to keep you warm while you both watched the meteor shower above. A myriad of shooting stars raced through the sky, leaving behind golden trails that disappeared in the blink of an eye only to be replaced with another. In that moment, you were grateful to Ratio for inviting you to watch this rare phenomenon with him, for it was truly beautiful.
🪽 Sunday
You and Sunday walked along the sandy beach, hand-in-hand. The cloudless blue sky reflected off the ocean’s surface and the warm water gently lapped at your feet. Each of you held an ice cream cone in your free hand, leisurely eating while strolling along the shore. Feeling mischievous, you lied, saying Sunday had a bit of ice cream on the corner of his mouth. Before he could react, you leaned in and kissed the corner of his lips, watching with restrained laughter how his face flushed at the sudden affection, and attempting to hide it from you by covering it with his wings.
⚰️ Luocha
Luocha’s hold on your hand and waist was firm yet gentle as he confidently guided you across the ballroom floor, dancing along to the live orchestral music. The glittering chandeliers, lively chatter and laughter of colorfully-dressed guests, and delicious scents of food piled on the tables had all overwhelmed you earlier, but now disappeared into the background as your gaze was caught captive by Luocha’s. The Duke’s eyes were gentle, and there was an unspoken emotion in his verdant depths that shone through every time he looked at you. You could never quite put your finger on it, but that emotion had your heart fluttering in your chest and wishing that this dance would never end.

SHAKESPEAREAN AESTHETIC.
HAMLET. speaking in a whisper. holding your breath. a browning garden. a half-remembered story. furniture covered with sheets. fog at dawn, mist at twilight. losing touch. the ethereal space between winter & spring. the soft skin at your temple. the crack in the hallway mirror. things you'd say if you knew the words. uncombed hair. books with writing in the margins. books with cracked spines. books with lines scratched out. prayers on all souls' day. a chipped ceramic bathtub. a cold stone floor. the uncomfortable awareness of your own heartbeat. the sparrow that got in your house. shadows. the creek you played in as a child. a dirty nightgown. an oversized t-shirt. a collection of your favorite words. soil beneath your nails. ghost stories. the strangeness of your own name in your mouth. deep silence. exhaustion. a cliff with a long, long drop down.
MACBETH. the space where your grief used to be. a bird that's lost an eye. old bloodstains. heavy blinds. the smell of sweat. the stillness after a battle. a fake smile. a curse. the taste of metal at the back of your tongue. your house, unfamiliar in the dark. a dusty crib. the smell of sulfur. an orange pill bottle. streaks in the sink. a black cocktail dress. your hand on the doorknob, shaking. a chilly breeze. crunching from the gravel driveway on a moonless night. clenched hands. a rusty swing set. a flashing digital clock stuck on 12:00. a snake that crosses your path. an owl that watches you. a dog that runs when you approach. red smoke, dark clouds. cool steel. tile floors. footsteps in the hallway late at night. a baggy suit that used to fit before. visions. insomnia headaches. nursery rhymes. being too far in to go back now.
MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. the high drama of small towns. a pickup truck. military supply duffel bags in the hall. hugs all around. tulip bulbs. a wraparound porch. a pitcher of iced tea. a rubber halloween mask. someone on your level. ill-timed proclamations. stomach clenching laughter. rushing in. crepe paper. white lies. secrets written down & thrown away. southern hospitality. homemade curtains in the kitchen. a sink full of roses. hiding in the bushes. old friends. the wedding dress your grandma wore, & her mama before her. a dog-eared rhyming dictionary. chamomile with honey. the intimacy of big parties. lawn flamingos. gossip. a crowded church. friendly rivalries. unfriendly rivalries. love at five hundredth sight. not realizing you're home until you're there.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. the smell of wet soil & dead leaves. listening to music on headphones with your eyes closed. wildflowers. the distant sparkle of lightning bugs. a pill someone slipped you. fear that turns into excitement. excitement that turns to frenzy. mossy tree trunks. a pair of yellow eyes in the darkness. night swimming. moonlight. a bass beat in your chest. a butterfly landing on your nose. a kiss from a stranger. a dark hallow in an old tree. glow in the dark paint. drinking on an empty stomach. a twig breaking behind you. spinning until you're dizzy. finding glitter on your body & not remembering where it came from. an overgrown path through the woods. cool dew on your skin. a dream that fades with waking. moths drawn to the light. giving yourself over, completely. afterglow. the long, loving, velvety night.

The K-pop group on their latest EP, showing a new side of themselves and why there’s “no set definition of masculinity.”
Through the right camera lens, youth is often portrayed as a dreamworld—smooth at the edges and achingly gentle, like a garden in bloom. It's an illusion the K-pop group Tomorrow X Together knows well. Since their debut in 2019, the boy band often referred to as TXT has become a voice for their generation, deftly confronting volatile coming-of-age feelings and adolescent malaise in their own foreboding, whimsical way. From heartbreak to loneliness, they've laid their vulnerabilities bare across a body of work that spans two albums and five EPs. Their latest, The Name Chapter: Temptation, finds the K-pop quintet lost in their very own Neverland, where the most beautiful flowers are the most dangerous.
There's a hazy ambience to the group's visual imagery that's especially present in this depiction of Neverland. In early concept photos for Temptation, the group’s five members Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai—who range in age from 20 to 23 years old—idly wander barefoot around a lush forest in billowy textiles. Open vests and loose cardigans fall off their shoulders, exposing skin dusted with glitter. It's a delicate expression of masculinity, tender and pliable. As harsher sounds and darker aesthetics continue to dictate trends among today's boy groups, Tomorrow X Together eschews impenetrable bravado for radical sensitivity—painting a portrait of boyhood that's both beautiful and anguished, where daydreams and nightmares swirl on canvas. It's one of the reasons why their global popularity has boomed following an electrifying Lollapalooza set last summer.
With over 2.1 million stock pre-orders recorded, The Name Chapter: Temptation is on track to become their highest-selling album yet, and there's already a U.S. arena tour in the works. Ahead of its release on January 27, I caught up with TXT over Zoom, where they joined the video call from a studio in Seoul late in the evening. Even amidst a hectic day of press, their restless energy was palpable as they fired off inside jokes and swapped teasing glances. Below, we discuss the visual themes of the album, their favorite photoshoots, and why there's no "set definition" of masculinity they feel the need to follow.
As Tomorrow X Together, you've explored various visual themes. You were ice princes in The Chaos Chapter: Freeze and then wrapped in leather from head to toe for Minisode 2: Thursday's Child. Do you have a favorite concept?
Soobin: I liked the concept of our debut album. I didn't like it much at the time, but looking back now I like it, because we could only do it at that age and level of experience.
Beomgyu: I liked The Chaos Chapter: Freeze the best. I also had long hair back then, and I think that's why I feel more affectionate toward it now.
Taehyun: I personally like Freeze as well. It was new. I remember the idea was for each of us to express the point of view of a lover. I have never been someone's lover before, so it was something new and interesting for me.
So it was an acting challenge.
Taehyun: Unfortunately.
Is there one look or concept that you think defines Tomorrow X Together?
Taehyun: Without a doubt, to define our concept in one word, it would have to be "youth." The stories we want to share are about the experiences that our generation faces as we grow up.
Your latest album, which is very much inspired by Peter Pan, has four different visual versions: Daydream, Nightmare, Farewell and Lullaby. Each has its own unique visual aesthetic and accompanying cover, photocard and photobook. What inspired some of these visuals?
Yeonjun: I think it'll be best to explain this using our photos. The concept for this album is "temptation." In the Daydream photos, we wanted to illustrate an image of someone forgetting about their dream and falling into temptation. In Nightmare, we're depicting a beautiful and fantastic nightmare as sugar, something sweet and colorful. In Farewell, we wanted to show the journey of leaving this Neverland of temptation to move to another star. It's like us coming back to reality after overcoming these temptations. On the other hand, in Lullaby, we play the role of Peter Pan, and we become the temptation.
I'm glad you mentioned Daydream because I think your fans were most surprised by those photos. They're really stunning. Did you anticipate that reaction?
Taehyun: I personally think it was a very bold attempt, so I was looking forward to seeing the results. At the same time, I was worried that fans would feel kind of unfamiliar with this new side of us and indifferent towards it, but I'm really, really grateful that everyone loved it so much.
Can you put that new side into words?
Taehyun: It's new in both sound and theme. We’d like to describe our single "Sugar Rush Ride" as fresh, dreamy, and sexy at the same time. The new choreography also really elevates the song.
Is there a member you think fits that concept the best?
Beomgyu: I think everyone fits it well, but I think I did it best.
Soobin: I agree. Everyone fits well, but if I had to choose one member it would be Soobin.
Yeonjun: I personally think Soobin fit Daydream the best.
Soobin: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Yeonjun: Because he has a fair complexion, and also he bleached his hair this time, so it all came together quite well with the naturalistic background and the sunshine shining down on him. He reminded me of Edward from Twilight.
Soobin: "Edward Soobin." Yes.
Yeonjun: Oh my God.
When I look at those photos I see a really soft, gentle expression of masculinity. Has being an idol changed your idea of masculinity at all?
Taehyun: I don't think that there is a set definition of masculinity that we have to follow. It just happened to be that for this shoot, we were thinking about how we can best depict one's fall into temptation in the most beautiful way possible and how the photos can be taken in the most beautiful way. So I think the softness is a result of this thinking process.
Do you feel like your visuals are part of what makes Tomorrow X Together stand out?
Hueningkai: I don’t think that enjoying music is just an auditory experience. There are ways to expand that experience through movements and choreography, costumes, or through sets and lighting which our tour team puts a lot of hard work into. We want our listeners to have the full Tomorrow X Together experience, so visual imagery is also important to us in that regard.
Among the different shoots for the album, which did you like the most?
Soobin: I personally like Daydream because although we expressed Neverland as a place we need to leave in our album, I think that when most people hear the word Neverland they imagine a place that is beautiful and filled with happiness. Daydream was really beautiful, and I think it would look like this if it was to exist. It was so close to the Neverland I had imagined.
Beomgyu: For me, Farewell resonated with me the most. You know how the photoshoot was based on the idea of someone about to leave something behind? During the photoshoot, I had to think of someone with happy memories while they were at this place, the anxious feelings they experience during, and the emptiness you feel when it's time to leave.
Taehyun: I choose Farewell as well. I think the members did a great job expressing the ambition to overcome temptation even just with their gaze.
What's a temptation you're struggling to overcome these days?
Yeonjun: Delicious food, always. Right now it's ramen.
Taehyun: For me, the greatest temptation is the temptation that pulls me back into bed every morning.
Beomgyu: For me, I think it's vacation. It's tempting me even right now. I am working hard each day, looking forward to that day we go on vacation.
Hueningkai: For me, it's the person inside the mirror, myself, that tempts me the most.
Yeonjun: Oh my God.
Soobin: Are you sure it's not the temptation to break the mirror? I think [our fans] MOA are my greatest temptation. I can't live without MOA.
Beomgyu: Of course, me too! You had the same thought as me!

@moonssugar i said i wanted to do all the questions so i'm doing that ✨️ let's go, haze dogs!
👀 - an excerpt from my WIP
in the morning you walked home crying and covered in after-party remnants — glitter in your hair, a ripped dress, gashes on your black stockings, no shoes on, and blood artistically on your neck.
👑 - a random fact about one of my ocs
connor and ángel do archery! this is in part because i do archery but also because they really needed a hobby. i think it's also gonna be how they become close and eventually start dating.
🦀 - a favourite piece of dialogue
yay church scene!!
ángel pressed his smile to your cheek, compelled you to smile in kind. you felt the edges of his teeth like he intended to bite your cheekbone off. “you’re going to hell for blasphemy.”
“we’re all going to hell for it, my sin was being named an idol against my will.”
“and desecrating the house of god.”
“this hasn’t been god’s house for a decade, i had nothing to do with it. the place was empty,” you said, “ripe for the taking. so, i did.”
☀️ - current word count
2678 if we include the church scene and the scene of connor going to ángel's house after getting a little bit bloody. of the actual manuscript i have 474 words lmao
❄️ - toughest aspect of my wip
actually getting the ball rolling has been the hardest part. i'm banking on actually writing whenever i get to it to help me with character dynamics and connecting the plot points in my head.
🍕 - my characters' favourite foods
i feel like connor would really enjoy an empanada de papa. ángel feels like the type to say pasta with white sauce is his favourite. acacia Loves ice cream. benjy could live off of spicy chicken wings.
⚽️ - genre of my wip
low fantasy horror. at least i like to pretend it's horror but i get easily freaked out so it's might just be a little spook.
🤔 - what's the inspiration behind my wip
it's a combination of things. i wanted to write horror for reasons i forgot but the only good idea i had for a horror story couldn't lean all on the horror because of what i wanted it to do (aka disasters to sleep through which is more about healing your inner child and loneliness and love). so i had to find something new. i have a half-finished short story titled homeward & bound about two friends driving home down a creepy road with one of the girl's niece and the other's dog, and no matter how far they drive they never seem to make any progress. it's got subtle horror elements, all encompassed in the dog, inspired by a prompt i saw in one of those "southern gothic aesthetic" lists on tumblr about having to walk your dog so it's not restless and something bad happens. i decided to go from there with haze dogs, though i made without the two friends or the spooky car ride and just kept the dog. i've had recurring nightmares of being chased by creatures that want to kill me with their teeth no matter what, i used that and what little i know of stephen king's children of the corn from youtube videos with their ritualistic sacrifices to an entity that basically lives in their backyard. the cult stuff appeared when i decided to introduce ángel into the story, he's regulus black in a different font because stealing from terfs is encouraged. with his family situation coming straight from the blacks i skewed it slightly to the left and now you have a rich, manipulative mother who wants influence over the town. connor is inspired somewhat on wren from the podcast spines, most especially that initial sacrifice with her waking up in a pool of her own blood looking up at people she knows (in connor's case it's her classmates).
🎁 - prologues or no prologues, why?
none! it's better to just jump straight into the action with this one.
🎶 - wip playlist
the fruits by paris paloma
animal by pvris
you should see me in a crown by billie eilish
the unwanted animal by the amazing devil
which witch by florence + the machine
arsonist's lullabye by hozier
take me to church by hozier
the tradition by halsey
in the woods somewhere by hozier

What are the clothing styles of Elphaba and Glinda?
Even though I've only seen this musical once onstage so far, I've been looking through production photos and articles on the costuming just so I can answer this question well.
Elphaba clearly favors plain, conservative, dark-colored clothes at every stage in her life. But as she goes through her journey of becoming "wicked," her aesthetic changes from "drab, nerdy schoolgirl" into "sleek, sophisticated lady."
When she first appears in college, she wears a simple dark blue turtleneck sweater, calf-length skirt, blazer jacket, and knitted cap, with tall brown boots. The school colors of Shiz University are dark blue and white, so make Elphaba and Glinda stand out and highlight the contrast between them, Glinda wears all white, while Elphaba wears all blue. When she attends her first party at the Ozdust Ballroom, she wears a stark, sleeveless dark blue party dress, and the pointy black hat Glinda gave her which becomes her signature hat from then on. Back at school, after her makeover by Glinda, she replaces her heavy blue blazer with a form-fitting white jacket. When she first visits the Emerald City, she wears a high-necked, ankle-length, button-down black dress in an Edwardian design, very similar to the dress worn by Margaret Hamilton's Wicked Witch of the West. In "Defying Gravity," Glinda puts a black cloak around her to warm her, which completes the classic "Witch of the West" look. Throughout Act II, however, when she fully becomes the Witch of the West, she wears her most iconic dress. Black, floor-length, high-necked, long-sleeved, and still in a conservative Edwardian style, but much more glamorous than any of her earlier costumes, with a subtle yet wide assortment of patterns, textures, and colors woven into it (chiefly purple, red, and teal). The costume designer Susan Hilferty wrote that she meant for this dress to evoke the earth – raw, jagged, rocky earth, but with gemstones shining through it. At the very end, though, she wears a simple, low-cut, floor-length black dress when she leaves Oz with Fiyero after faking her death.
Glinda's costumes are just the opposite of Elphaba's – light, frilly, flouncy, and bubbly. Although one similarity (possibly symbolic?) is that in Act II, she favors the color blue like Elphaba did in Act I, just in a much lighter shade. Her aesthetic also changes from girlish and cute in Act I to more glamorous and womanly in Act II.
Her schoolgirl outfit is a short-sleeved white blouse and vest, a lacy knee-length white skirt, and white buckled high heels (she loves high heels), with a white travel jacket and white tam o'shanter hat at the beginning. To the Ozdust Ballroom party and in "Popular," she wears a frilly, sleeveless, knee-length pink dress and pink heels. In her first trip to the Emerald City, she wears a similar sleeveless, knee-length dress, but in yellow. Then in Act II, her costumes upgrade to reflect her new, high-status public role. Her "Thank Goodness" costume is an elegant yet conservative (although still slightly quirky and Oz-like) suit dress of ice blue and mint green silk, with a tiny white hat, inspired by the 1940s fashions worn by Eva Peron to evoke Glinda's similarity to Eva as a political figurehead. To her engagement ball, she wears a sleeveless, sequined, pale green ballgown with a full, 17th century-inspired skirt that looks like flower petals, and a silver tiara with a flower design. Finally, she wears her iconic, elaborate "bubble dress": a short-sleeved, bare-shouldered, large-skirted ice blue gown like that of a classic fairy princess, all covered in tiny crystal sequins, with another petal-like design for the skirt, and with a silver tiara shaped like glittering stars on her head.
The differences in Elphaba and Glinda's costumes is mirrored by the design of their college dorm room too, with Elphaba's plain patched-quilt bed and shelves of books vs. Glinda's frilly purple bed and shelves of designer shoes. By the way, that dorm room set reminds me of the difference between Margaret Hamilton's dressing room and Billie Burke's on the set of The Wizard of Oz. Allegedly, the studio treated them almost as if they really were the Witch of the West and Glinda; Billie Burke had a beautiful pink and blue dressing room, while Margaret Hamilton was just given a plain, ugly canvas tent.
