GQ: You performed your first solo stage 'Spark' on this year's tour. You participated in writing the lyrics and composing it. Did you think of it from the big waves created by the small sparkles that MY shakes?

Winter: It was my first time working on a song, so I wanted to do it for MY, the first people who listen to my song. When I decided to write it while thinking of MY, the fan lights at the concert came to mind first.

GQ: How did you write the lyrics, "One Little Spark Can You Set Me Free," about a small spark setting me free?

Winter: When I was young, I was so introverted that I couldn't even ring the bus bell. When the delivery man came, I would hide because I was embarrassed. My family is surprised that I'm now singing and dancing in front of tens of thousands of people. I thought that the reason I was able to do something I never imagined, that I could show this much energy on stage, was because of the people who cheered me on and the many small sparks in front of me. My heart opened there, and I felt free as if my second self was emerging. I wrote it because I thought those small but big hearts liberated me.

Winter

Winter gives off that fun, creative bestie energy, the kind of friend you call when you’re stuck choosing between two outfits or can’t decide which Instagram pic hits harder. She’s got opinions, and she stands by them, she knows what looks good and wants you to feel cute too. There’s something really girly and inspiring about her vibe, she’d hype you up while also pushing you to try something new. She’s the type you could build with. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’d started a joint YouTube channel with a friend where they both vlog and post aesthetic content. Friendships with her turn into something creative and fun. Her friendship shines most when there’s room to make, imagine, and share together.

At times, Winter can be a little bitchy. She might know how to subtly shift the mood or twist a situation to steer things in her favor. she’s lowkey good at emotional chess. There’s a chance she could be that friend who expects you to drop everything for her, but when it’s your turn, she’s suddenly busy or distant. She’s not always the most reliable, and that can definitely lead to some petty arguments here and there. But the thing is, she will make up. She’s not the type to leave things broken for long. Even if the drama feels a little extra sometimes, she circles back with charm and makes things feel normal again.

Ningning

She’s the type of friend who loves to share. Her closet is basically yours, and she’s not shy about sliding you some money or letting you borrow her jewelry. There’s something super Cheetah Girls meets Bratz about her energy. I haven’t watched those movies in forever but I swear I can hear the Bratz theme song in the background, “ooo Bratz, with style, you can do anything!” (Or however it goes don’t come for me 😭) She’s all about her friends looking good, feeling good, and being just as stylish as she is. She wants her circle to match her vibe. But with all that generosity and glam, there’s a little bit of surface level energy too. Her friendships can be fast paced. she could switch besties based on what’s trendy or who’s matching her aesthetic in the moment.

There’s a possibility she sees her friends as extensions of her brand/accessories to the lifestyle she’s curating. And if someone can’t keep up with her pace or vibe? They might get left behind. Every card I pulled for her pointed to themes of success, status, wealth, and higher energy. It screamed influencer, fashion girl, maybe even instagram model type energy. But the cards also hint at departure, endings, and quick shifts. So while her friendships might be sparkly and magnetic at first, they don’t always seem to last.

So I decided to actually listen to the Bratz album while writing this section and this song is soooo Ningning energy! Also why is it lowkey a bop!

Gigi

Giselle gives off the vibe of a friend who sometimes talks faster than she thinks. She might blurt things out without meaning any harm, not realizing it could come off the wrong way or shift the mood a bit. she’s isn’t trying to be insensitive she just doesn’t always catch how her words might hit others. There’s a gap between her intentions and how it’s received, especially when she’s not fully tuned into what someone else might be going through.

She can be a little short sighted sometimes, or say things that land kind of awkwardly without meaning to. Like if you were venting about being busy with work and barely holding it together, she might casually say, “Why don’t you just take a break?”, as if that hadn’t already crossed your mind 97 times. She isn’t deliberately trying to be rude, it’s more like her brain to mouth filter glitches mid conversation. Half the time she doesn’t even realize how it sounded until the silence hits.

Karina

Karina feels like the kind of person who keeps her circle small and familiar. She’s probably still close with a couple of friends she’s had since way back. She doesn’t really go out of her way to make new friends, she feels safest around people who already get her. New friendships might feel like too much effort or too much risk, so she sticks with the ones that feel easy and real.

When it comes to her idol life, though, Karina might play it a bit more strategic with friendships. She probably builds connections that help her career or keep her image looking good, even if those friendships don’t go super deep. Around those people, she’s watching what she says, holding back a lot, and showing more of the idol version of herself. It’s totally different from how she is with her real/close friends.
