cheeks threaten to burn, eyes averting gaze. though she appreciates the way he let her words spill out even. tangents are part of who she is, goes off on one at least daily. happens when she's stressed, nervous, sometimes even when she's just happy. " i don't actually believe in marriage, but . . . well, that's irrelevant. i'm shutting up now. " pretends to zip her mouth and throw away an imaginary key despite the fact she's itching to tell him that sex is an incredibly big deal for her. but there's part of her that worries he may freak out if she tells him he's one of the only two people she's ever went there with — remarkably, she manages to keep it in. adya let's him finish's, remains quiet for longer than she intends to. truthfully, she's still a little overwhelmed by him unexpected it all is. a soft smile slowly forms, eyes bright. " i . . . " another pause, exhale. fuck, she's bad at this. for someone who talks most than the average person, when it comes to talking about feelings she struggles to find the right words. " . . . like you. i'd say that means we're standing in a pretty good position, wouldn't you ? "

he waits until she finishes . doesn't even dare to interrupt her as he watches her practically trip over herself to get the words out , nerves eating at her throat . wanted to laugh but didn't want her to take it the wrong way so he smiles , instead , shaking his head as amusement coats his face before it falls solemn . "you're making it sound like i have a ring ready for you or something . we've only had sex , ayda ," he comments her gently , "i wasn't expecting a relationship -- i just wanted to know where we stood ." which made him feel a little silly since he'd been raised to think that was a women's thing to do ( not that it really mattered ) . he didn't want to waste her time or his . especially when what he felt for her was more than just casual . "if you don't feel the same way , you can tell me . i promise i won't get mad ," hated even saying that out loud . he frowns , pursing his lip to the side . now he was the nervous one . "i'm a big boy ," all pun intended , "i can handle it ."

open to: anyone. muse: adya khatri, twenty-six, med student. bit of a know-it-all. plot: classic small town with a masked killer on the loose, very scream-inspired. can be an enemies to allies, friends or even strangers & totally up to you if your muse is secretly the killer or one of many.

she emerges from behind the dusty old desk when things seem to quieten down, breaths shallow, heart still threatening to beat out of her chest. adya is typically clinically calm, collected. but fear makes the hairs on the back of her neck rise. the only light comes from a flickering bulb overhead, casting eerie shadows on the rows of abandoned boxes and old medical equipment. " a-are you okay ? " she asks the other, tone hushed. but despite her checking on them, there's still part of her that's wary, keeps a safe distance. trust not something that could easily be given when some masked maniac was running around killing people.

A 5x10 Drabble

“At your firehouse? That's where you want to get married?”

Marjan grins and nods. “It's one of my favorite places in Austin. Plus, I learned from TK and Carlos that booking a venue in this city is insane and we’re not waiting 18 months or hoping some other couple breaks up like they did.”

Joe makes a face like he’s not sure how to respond. “Of course I don’t want to wait either. But is that even allowed?”

“I think so. We’ll work out the details.”

“Like if sirens go off in the middle of something important?”

“Yeah, but my team wouldn't let that happen.” Marjan is confident in that at least, everything else will come together somehow.

He goes quiet, then grins in the way that makes Marjan's heart flutter. “Okay.”

“Really? You're sure?”

“The look on your face tells me there’s no other option, and the past two years have taught me to never underestimate you. I’ll marry you anywhere.”

Marjan giggles, her face is starting to hurt a little from smiling so long but she can’t stop. “Then let’s do this!”
