Imagine this scenery, nice truck with heaps of torque, very loose off camber climb, no traction control or locking differentials. Attempting the climb would certainly cause excessive wheel spin resulting in poor mechanical sympathy and unnecessary damage to the environment. Sometimes it is good to be proactive and use the tools at your disposal - in this case a simple 1:1 winch assist. #offroadtraining #training #4x4 #offroad #adventure #bc #adventuresmart #recovery #treadlightly #7p4x4 #overlandingbc (at British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEHd1TxHXno/?igshid=16786c0yjjb7k

A very enjoyable few days with 3 generations and a lovely old Land Rover Series 2a (1969). Not without a couple of minor hiccups but that’s the life of old charming cars. First time on an off road adventure for the group and the very first timing driving a car for one young chap. Great way to start a driving career, driving a Defender 90 and Series 2a as hid very first vehicles. #offroad #training #4x4 #adventuresmart #wilderness #bcisbeautiful #bc #canada #landrover #landrovercanada #landroverusa #defender90 #series2a #overlandingbc (at Nahatlatch Provincial Park and Protected Area) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCw9DOIAqg2/?igshid=11wmqswi0k9nu

What’s the worst that could happen on a run? Lower leg injuries are a major hazard for those of us who like to travel fast and light. Even something as simple as a twisted ankle could turn a short ‘run’ into a very long day. The majority of overdue hiker calls to Search and Rescue could be prevented by simply bringing a headlamp. But calling Search and Rescue should always be a last resort, not simply a ‘Plan B’. Even if you do need to call for help, it can take hours to arrive and may still mean spending a night in the cold before a helicopter extraction. Read all about how I try to mitigate risk on every run no matter how short or long on @runwildvan’s blog (link in profile): runwildvan.com/news Photo: @thehilaryann Date: July, 2018 #runwildvan #salomonsquad #adventuresmart https://ift.tt/2L0Si96

As trail runners, our speed puts us at an increased risk for sudden encounters with bears which may provoke a defensive reaction. We also tend to spend a lot of time exploring off trail and near their food sources. So in my latest video, I focus on how we can avoid potentially dangerous conflicts with bears. I also talk about how to tell the difference between grizzlies and black bears, and what to do in the extremely rare case of an attack. Watch the video on YouTube (link in profile). 📽 #runwildvan #adventuresmart https://instagr.am/p/COwO-R5sv7X/
