Jodie Whittaker returns to Doctor Who
Big Finish Productions, in partnership with BBC Studios, today announces the first ever Thirteenth Doctor audio dramas as Jodie Whittaker returns to the Whoniverse alongside Mandip Gill as Yasmin Khan.
First seen on screen in 2017, Jodie Whittaker made TV history as the first female incarnation of the beloved Time Lord in Doctor Who.
Now she’s back in a brand-new series of twelve, hour-long, full-cast audio adventures in time and space, due to be released from July 2025. By her side in the TARDIS, as ever, will be her best friend Yaz, once again played by Mandip Gill.
Jodie Whittaker said: “I’m over the moon to be joining Big Finish for more adventures in the TARDIS. Recording the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz is a really lovely thing to revisit. One of the things Mandip and I used to love on Doctor Who was getting in, doing a new episode and meeting a brand-new cast. I just can’t wait to step back into the boots, pull on the coat and get cracking. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be brilliant.”
Mandip Gill added: “Doctor Who has been a huge part of my career and personal life and I am looking forward to seeing how I can further enrich my character through this exhilarating series. To be able to work with Jodie again is a dream come true, we have such a special friendship, I’m sure the recordings will be filled with laughter.”
Big Finish’s Chairman, Jason Haigh-Ellery said: “This year Big Finish is celebrating its 25th anniversary of producing full-cast Doctor Who audio drama – so, when we were granted the licence to create new stories set during the Thirteenth Doctor’s era, we immediately set to work.
“I am delighted that the inimitable Jodie and Mandip have decided to return to their roles with us and I’m excited to welcome them to Big Finish. Alongside our two other forthcoming series for the Fugitive Doctor (played by Jo Martin) and the Master (played by Sacha Dhawan), 2025 has never looked brighter for the Thirteenth Doctor and her fam.”
Big Finish’s Creative Director, Nicholas Briggs added: “Jodie and Mandip were so welcoming to me when I worked on set with them in the TV show, so I’m looking forward to repaying the compliment. They’re lovely people and they’re full of enthusiasm for this project.”
Big Finish listeners can now pre-order The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures, starting at just £11.99 (per story on collector’s edition CD + download) or £9.99 (download only) exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.
A complete series multibuy bundle of all twelve releases is also available to pre-order at the specially discounted price of £126 (on collector’s edition CD + download) or £102 (download only), again exclusively from the Big Finish website.
All the above prices include the special pre-order discount and are subject to change after general release.
Please note that Big Finish is currently operating a digital-first release schedule. The mail-out of collector’s edition CDs may be delayed due to factors beyond our control, but all purchases of this release unlock a digital copy that can be immediately downloaded or played on the Big Finish app from the release date.

MIXOLOGY SENSEI HERE reporting back: the altered Monkey Gland approach is pretty good and very limey; I actually wish we'd put a little simple syrup in, but if you like lime and you especially like tart lime, this will work for you.
Recipe adapted from Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails, by Ted Haigh.
1.5oz (1/3 gill, 4.5cl) dry gin 1.5oz (1/3 gill, 4.5cl) fresh-squeezed lime juice 1 teaspoon real pomegranate grenadine 1 teaspoon absinthe or Pernod
Shake vigorously in an iced cocktail shaker, and strain into a small cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime strip. Serves one.
(in my heart Jett Reno calls this a Seven of Limes because she says it's like being punched in the face with a bag of seven limes. "Not six. Not eight, that's way too many. Exactly seven. Trust me, you'll love it. Assuming you love being punched in the face.")
Jett Reno's Seven of Limes
From TheScorch on Twitter
#star trek: discovery#cocktails#alcohol#also if you're wondering: we make big cocktails here so we quadrupled the recipe and split it among two people 👍

[KISS] Monday 14 August 1837
8 ¼
12 5
she began the thing last night and seemed having too good a kiss to bear I therefore left her and she moaned and fidgeted half the night after and got up this morning out of sorts temper I think also what a queer discomfort making person! very fine morning F75° now at 9 ¼ am in the sun thermometer hanging out at my study window as usual – [asp.t] south – roof hanging close over the window 2ft. + breakfast now at 9 ¼ with Mr. Gray – A- was gone (to Crownest or the school, I suppose of course) – out at 10 with Robert Mann ordering about 1 thing or other – G- can make most of him – so gave him on Saturday the lime and sand fetching concern to manage, and today told him to look after everybody and see that nothing was wanted – he and Jack Green and Sam Booth began to take up the steps under the yew trees to be made do for the conery garden steps – then ordering wit Booth about terrace tower steps and west tower steps the latter to be placed on Thursday – then with Frank and Mark Hepworth trenching in clay from where the terrace entrance gates are to be, in the hall croft just under my walk-gate – told Robert Mann to talk to me some other time about Mytholm middle back cottage which he had the key of and took his son David to look at yesterday I hinted at Robert living in the farm house that Frank is going to leave, more especially now that Robert has given up Mr. Haighs’ coal – getting and says he has thought of taking his 2 or 3 daughters from working at the mill at some time – came in at 12 25 – wrote all but the first 4 ½ lines of today and at my books and papers till went down to Robert Mann at 1 ¼ about Mawson’s carts taking the laundry court road stuff to underneath the farm yard wall east side – could not do with it there – to be taken to form embankment in the paddock about midway – Holt the engineer came about 2 said I was going to H-x so he waited for me in the road while I had done with Robert Mann and Mawson – Holt would willingly persuade me to fix as soon as possible about my steam engine – said Iron was rising in price – he had given us a vote – said I would settle about the engine as soon as I could – in no great hurry yet – glad he had given us a vote – if he had voted altogether against us, I should not have thought more of him or his estimates – down the old bank to Mr. Parker’s office – there at 3 35 P- and A- had just sat down to dinner so said I would call again in about ½ hour – went to the bank – gave a check (as usual) for £600 to be paid to Messrs. Hammersley and co. bankers London – Mr. Davidson say they would advise their bankers in London of it tomorrow and the money would be paid on Wednesday – dated my check tomorrow Tuesday 15 August – then to Gill’s the shoemaker for shoes – Gill not at home – to come and measure me at 8pm. on Thursday – Mrs. Gill had wished to see A- to tell her that if she wrote to Mrs. Rawdon or Miss Briggs now staying with her she (Mrs. Gill) thought Mrs. Rawdons’ place might be got for Charlotte Booth – then to Whitleys’ – bought Eloge on Dupuytren translated by Mr. Ikin surgeon of H-x and pollbook and Mudies’ popular mathematics and at Mr. Parker’s office again at 4 20 till 5 ¼ - read P- the copy of letter I intended writing to Messrs. Hammersley and co. to invest the £400 + £24 interest for the infant son of Mrs. Sarah Ellen Graham (daughter of Mrs. Ferguson) it was what Mr. Watson wrote P- curtailed the letter a good deal and very well – then read him copy of what I wrote to Mr. Hodgson on Saturday about the hotel – nothing, said P-, could be better – gave him the Liverpool letter to answer – to say I did not wish to increase my outlay the hotel being very complete, and in superior style, well with the attention of anyone who had capital – then talked over Mr. Carr’s proposal – P- evidently for my
SH:7/ML/E/20/0111
agreeing for house and furniture and everything – said I only wanted the coaches – should be glad if I got a tenant for the hotel, and I would leave him to agree with Mr. Carr – but I should not like to miss the coaches – P- to try to gain time – said I had a person ready to take the tap of the tenant – I had not named the subject except to one gentleman whom I had consulted (did not mention CP. and sure Mr. Parker could not guess) P- not croking [crooking] today – said Carrs’ retiring was very lucky – and the hotel not costing near so much as people thought would be a good speculation – would make my other property adjoining much more valuable – I hope the hotel will turn out well, and if the coal does, too, I shall be thankful – I do not despair – Just mentioned Holts’ offer to Mr. Jeremiah R- to buy the low bed sough, and JR-‘s laughing and saying it was worth thousands – I said H- wanted to persuade me to give a thousand pounds for it – but I only consented to give £500, and now I would not give as many pence – I had convinced H- I should be better without it – I did not consider R-‘s coal worth anything – I would not take it a gift if I was obliged to work it – I ought to have added if obliged to work it as R- does – I thought he must have laid out £15000 – returned up the old bank – sometime on the embankment in Allen car against the road wall – then in the gardens and stood talking to the gardener about Hemingways’ son – thinks he could not well manage him among so many men – I should very well like him to take little John Booth if he the gardener thought he could take it entirely from his father and made anything of him – sometime on the home-terrace with Mr. Gray – and about – came in at 7 ¼ A- having returned from Crownest 5 minutes before – very much tired but right as to temper dinner at 7 35 – went into A- sitting for a few minutes but came up with A- at 9 put her to bed – had Cookson to help me till 9 20 then left them for 25 minutes and sat reading Mudies’ popular mathematics – then a few minutes with A-who had had tea, and tho’ tired seemed better – then till 10 35 wrote all but the 1st 16 lines of today – very fine day – F61° at 9 20 pm – sat reading in my study till 11 20 – looking the directions in Dodsley’s cellar book, Clarkes’ Innkeepers’ guide

1835 February Monday 16
7 10/..
12 10/..
no kiss raining at 11 25/.. and very high wind when Marian went last night and got off by the mail for Market Weighton - rain this morning but fair and a little sun and F44° at 8 50/.. till which hour looking over Freeman’s stone-lease (yew-trees wood) and reading last night’s paper - breakfast at 8 3/4 - Had Mrs Dewhirst 5 or 6 minutes to ask leave to cart across the land with and for their skins, and if all were not quite done, that I would allow them (the skins) to stay in the pits a week or 2 beyond the time (1 May) if necessary - gave leave about the carting but expressed my wish for Mrs Dewhirst and her son to be off the premises by the 1st of May, and said that I did not like having skins left at all on the premises, but I would see about it - would speak to Pearson - did not wish to inconvenience any one unnecessarily - then had Jonathan Mallinson of Mytholm to say his son of the Black horse Inn, Halifax, would be glad to take Mytholm farm - did not want the buildings - would evidently have been glad to have them let off to Dewhirst - but I said Dewhirst was not respectable enough for me and I would not therefore have him at whatever rent he could offer - mentioned my intention of building a new public house by the Lower brea road side and keeping 9 or 10 DW for it - Jonathan sure it would not answer - said I was willing to put this plan off, if, his son and I agreed about the farm - but I must have a lease to my mind, and rent £65 per annum - well said Jonathan you must do the best you can for us - but I think my son will take the farm - Mr Samuel Freeman and his oldest son (Hanson aetatis 17) then came and I left Jonathan Mallinson Samuel Freeman gave me a letter to read from his nephew in London proving that Haigh and Aspinall etc. were selling stone in London for less than prime cost - my quarry in upper place land may pay if there be no competition, and is worth 6/. per yard - I said if all this was the case, and the stone worth no more, which was considerably less than I expected, I had no objection after putting the quarry up publickly to let, to leave it standing as it is and not work it at all till the stone was likely to pay better – this is not however I think what Samuel Freeman wishes – the quarry is not yet in a state fit to put up for letting – offered to leave them the accounts Debit and Credit but I said these might be given me on settling, and I would merely keep the summary given on a loose bit of paper
then talked over the matter of Joseph Gill – Samuel Freeman said he had not let the baring to Boothroyde but to Walker to whom Boothroyde gave 2/6 for giving up the job – Samuel Freeman will attend at the Sess[io?]ns room on Wednesday morning to prove this – much annoyed about the thing – I spoke of building at Northgate and having stones down gainly from my own quarry – S.F. said it would furnish me flags, slates, wallstones, all but door-posts, and nothing thick enough for thoose yet found – said I should think of favouring my own quarry by letting carts come down Whiskum road – must settle on what terms – then had the large plan down – said I would never consent to a new road from Brookfoot along the Pump side of the valley – S.F. said then he was sure the thing would not be attempted –
then had Pickells in to explain about Gill – S.F. and his son went away about one – then looking at the large plan till had Mr. Bradley at 1 1/2 – Mr. Parker cannot find the Saleplan of the Northgate property – thinks S.Washington must have it – Room for 5 new houses – had seen Greenwood who had mentioned his having having Northgate and offered Mr. Bradley 1/2 the house – that said I would be too much rent – thought and talked of accommodating Mr. Bradley for £20 per annum letting him have what was Mr. Scatchard’s office and the present low kitchen part – would build a square in the Sheep croft, opposite Northgate house which would be a good private house if not an Inn – then the glazier came – had Mr. Bradley giving him orders about the water closet pump, lead pipe in my aunt’s closet etc. and then examining the top of the house over north chamber to see how the drop came in – then had him at the dry bridge giving orders to Pickells till about 3 when sent Pickells off to Halifax about another summons for Gill and one for Boothroyde – then left Mr. Bradley with the glaziers (2 of them) and went out to Throp and his man who had planted out the Sycamores at the top of the daisy bank, and were getting up thorns at the bottom of the Hall croft – left them orders and at 4 10/.. off to Crow nest – Samuel Washington’s young man thinks the sale plan of Northgate was not sent to them – then to Cliff hill to meet Adney – met her just out of the gate and returned together slowly home at about 5 3/4 - Had Pickells – a summons could not be granted – Mr. Freeman himself, as purchaser of the stone must take out a warrant against each of the 2 men Gill and Boothroyde for stealing – dinner at 6 1/2 - coffee – with my father from 7 3/4 to 8 3/4 - the room so hot, I have felt bilious and not well ever since – wrote the whole of this journal of today – then 1/4 hour with my aunt till 10 – then wrote as follows to go early in the morning to ‘ Mr. Freeman, Brier Lodge, Southowram’ ‘Shibden hall – Tuesday morning 17 February 1835. Sir – I am sorry to have to inform you that, on Pickels’s application for a summons against Gill and Boothroyde, it was found, that this could not be granted, but that you must apply for a warrant against each of the 2 offenders and I shall therefore be much obliged to you to make the necessary application as soon as you can; and, if you want any assistance that my soliciters, Messrs. Parker and Adam, can afford, I beg you will be so good as apply to them, in my name – I am Sir, etc. etc. etc. A Lister’ Adney copied me the letter Mr. Samuel Freeman left with me this morning – from his nephew William Freeman chit chat respecting the stone under-selling system in London – enclosed this letter under cover, just writing on the back ‘ Mr. Freeman with Miss Lister’s best thanks’, and put this and my note in one envelope – wrote out French letter to Mr. Gandin Genève – and had just sealed my packet to ‘Mr. Freeman Brier Lodge Southowram’ at 11 1/2 at which hour F 46 1/2° - fine day –

Producer Scott HandcockScript Editor Scott Handcock, James GossExecutive Producers Jason Haigh-Ellery and Nicholas Briggs The brainchild of celebrated young-adult author, Patrick Ness; Class is certainly one of the more unfortunate Doctor Who spin-offs. Something which I found to be a great shame as the series was full of solid ideas and the potential was clearly evident from the start. When Big Finish got the rights to do Class, I’m not sure if anyone was actually surprised but this reviewer was certainly pleased. I enjoyed Class upon first viewing it and although it was certainly flawed, the cast, characters and general aesthetic clearly had a lot more to give. This first series of two-box sets features individual stories, each concentrating on 2 or 3 characters. It’s an interesting but ultimately fruitful technique that results in some highly interesting character based material. Gifted The opener sets the tone for the series in style, concentrating on the characters of Ram Singh and April Maclean and taking many of its story beats from their character traits. So, the threat in this story is drawn from folk legends and stories (a particular passion of Aprils) but one that preys on a character’s ambition and manipulates them (Ram and his desire to be a football star). It’s clearly a well thought through story that manages to emphasise both of these characters weak spots and ambitions. Wonderfully it gives expansion to elements in the series, Ram and his robotic leg and his and Aprils relationship as a whole. The latter felt a little too quick in series and an element that perhaps more than any other needed a little bit more air-time. The two leads (Fady Elsayed and Sophie Hopkins) are wonderful here and recapture their characters as if they’d never been away. It also captures the same level of darkness as the show, namely in the character of Thomas Lainford played wonderfully Ryhs Isaac-Jones, who is as tragic as they come. Life Experience Easily the highlight of the series, Life Experience is a non-stop romp. Taking the scenario of a secret lab experimenting on creatures falling from the ‘tears’, when one gets loose and Ram and Tanya are amongst those trapped inside. There’s plenty of laughs and plenty of wonderful horror moments with dashing’s of gore and nastiness. It may not provide the same level of character depth and exploration as the first and third story in this set but it’s a welcome break that demonstrates the versatility of the series. This story also features the largest guest cast in the entire set and it’s a superb collection of characters, all likable and amusing. I do hope that those who are able to return do in future installments, it would be a shame to waste such excellent characters and performers. A highlight was the performance of Lu Corfield, who puts in a wonderful guest appearance as the villainous Marta Vanderburgh. Her character makes an imposing but incredibly funny antagonist, delivering many of the wonderful moments of black humour that assist in making this story so enjoyable. Don’t Tell me you Love me Concentrating on the characters of Charlie, Matteusz and Miss Quill, Don’t Tell me you love me is easily the darkest and deepest story in the set. Scott Hancock has managed to create a multi-layered tale built around the simple premise of a parasite that enters a person’s mind and makes them unable to stop talking. The parasite then gets them to say things which may or may not be truths, resulting in interesting dynamics between Charlie and Matteusz when they start discussing aspects of their relationship. Throw into this mix the in dominatable Miss Quill played as always by Katherine Kelly and the result is a story that manages to explore all three characters, treat them equally and deliver an emotional packed punch in its ending. Unfortunately, the idea of a creature that makes its victims unable to stop talking does have…. some problems in the audio medium with characters talking on top of each other or without a break for minutes at a time sometimes getting a bit much through the headphones. Katherine Kelley, Greg Austin and Jordan Renzo are all excellent in this story and I’m intrigued to see more of them in vol 02. The first volume of Class manages to be incredibly successful at telling one-off individual stories within the run of the original series. In choosing to do this by concentrating on only a small number of the leads at a time, they have been able to further these characters in a way the television series was never able too. What’s more, the stories chosen wonderfully exploit character traits and expand series plot points further. Not only this but the atmosphere of the television series is captured seamlessly. Highly recommended. http://reviews.doctorwhonews.net/2018/09/class_vol_1_big_finish.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr
