Like You (Shinsou x !musician Reader) Part 4

The clock seemed to be torturing you as you lay in the bed, and to your chagrin, nodding off about every other minute while Hitoshi started a bath.

10:17pm.

You were kicking yourself for being so tired despite still having another twenty-five or more minutes with your new lover.

He came out with a gentle smile he was growing to like the feel of on his face, especially with the way your eyes would light up when you’d see it.

“C’mon, kitty, let’s get you washed up.” He spoke softly, picking you up off the bed, and you wrapped your legs around his waist. You smiled lazily in the crook of his neck, pressing small kisses against it as he carried you to the huge hotel-sized jacuzzi tub and slowly brought the both of you down.

The water was just the right amount of scalding. It was exactly what your tender body needed. He’d even foraged through your bags for a pomegranate bubbling bath bomb you’d been gifted by fans. Hitoshi was still so gentle with you, cupping his large hands under the water and raising them to the crown of your head before letting the liquid free and smoothing his fingers along the back of your head.

“You’re so beautiful, (name).” He mumbled, pecking your cheeks.

“As are you, ‘Toshi.” You replied, your eyelids fluttered shut as he ran his hands through your hair, softly scrubbing shampoo in it. Pleasant tingles shot across your scalp and down your spine as he massaged circles into the sensitive skin.

He chuckled through his nose, caring for you thoroughly and letting you do the same to him.  The heat of the water had your skin reddening beneath the tan surface, making you just a bit darker. It didn’t seem to bother him, and you could almost cry as you remembered how horribly judged and out of place you felt your first day in Japan.

But Hitoshi treated you different.

Sure, he wanted to beat the brakes off your ass, but he also really didn’t comment much about how your body was different from most peoples. From your warm-gold tan, to the curling pieces of wet hair, and the way your nipples and areola were shades of brown.

He didn’t treat you as if you were some foreigner who didn’t belong and who looked undesirable, he acted like you were liquid gold, a rare gem to be treasured, not cast aside.

“I... I’m really going to miss you. When you leave.” You squeaked, scooting up in his lap so you could lay your head on his shoulder.

“I know, kitten. I’ll miss you too.” He says, tracing his fingers up your spine and laying his head on your own. “But we’re here now, right? We can still enjoy each other’s company for the next fifteen minutes.”

“I wish we had more time. I’d really love to talk all night with you. To cuddle you in bed.”

His heart was panging while you spoke, of all the times he could have fallen for someone, he had to be attracted to the most attractive and popular person in the world that lived across the ocean. Just his luck. “Maybe another day.”

You sighed, pressing kisses to his neck as he strained the conditioner from your curls. “Thank you. For coming here with me.”

“I can’t imagine being stupid enough to deny your offer. But... You really had to make me go and catch feelings huh?”

“Whatever, you’re the one who asked to not get fucked in the dressing room.”

“You’ve got me there,” He chuckled, squeezing you to his chest a bit tighter. “I hope you call me. As often as you can. I know you’re on tour and all, but I’m a patient guy. Just say the word and I’ll answer you.”

“How did I end up with someone as caring as you?”

“I guess it was in the cards.”

“I can’t believe you’re all mine.”

“Well you better, cause I don’t think I can convince you any harder right now.” He teased, nudging your head with his chin while you snuggled his chest. His steady heartbeat left you in a trance, the silence of the bathroom almost comforting— even as he pulled the plug and stood to walk you over to the bed. Apparently, while you were nodding off, he had called the front desk for a replacement duvet, and they came in when you were in the bath.

10:32pm

You groaned as you laid back against the comforting bedspread, you’d been too lazy to put clothes on so you settled for sleeping in the lush robe that the hotel provided. Shinsou had put his clothes back on and was currently nestled upon your body between your legs, his freshly conditioned hair covered by one of the many pieces of merchandise that appeared in a black gift bag outside your door when he went to let the hotel housekeepers in. The black beanie had your stagename embroidered into the front in lettering that looked as though a cat claw had etched it in.

“The driver will be here soon..” You said, absentmindedly scratching his scalp and twirling strands of hairs at the nape of his neck.

“I know.” He mumbled pressing kisses into your collarbones. “I just want to be here, in the moment with you.”You smiled, bringing your arms to meet between his shoulder blades and resting your chin on his head. Your mind reeled with the idea of being separated so soon after meeting him, how the tour of Japan would end in a month, but then it was time to give your American fans their own dedicated leg of the tour.

Your album just dropped, and you couldn’t let them down— not when they were spamming your twitter with pleads for a statewide tour. New fans flowing in from all parts of the world, you’d almost hit a million followers, plus your views on YouTube were skyrocketing with tonight’s performance being live-streamed by a local TV station.

Heroes from various countries followed you, some of the more popular ones even tweeting about you and your music! It was overwhelming, of course, but… You didn’t feel the weight of the world on you in this moment. The way this purple-eyed young man was tracing his fingers along the outside of your thigh that was entangled between his own two legs brought you peace of mind. Your head already swirling with lyrics to write about him, unintentionally humming an unwritten song as the minutes dragged on.

“You’ll be able to come visit, right?” He squeaked, raising his chin off your chest to look up at you with those sad, twinkling lilac eyes.

“I--.. I don’t know, actually. It might not be for a few months..”“(But you’ll still come. Promise me.)”

“(Of course,”) Your voice cracked, tears brimming themselves once again. “I promise you my love; I will come and see you as soon as I can.”

He smiled softly, “You better.”

“Well you better not get yourself hurt or worse, Mr. Hero.” You chuckled slightly, pulling him up to get in a final few kisses. Your phone rang shortly after you were able to catch a breath.

You both looked at it with such disdain. How rude of that device, to remind you that your time was running out. Still you sighed, dreadfully reaching out and answering it.

“Hello?”

The driver said his greetings, and was ready to take off back to the stadium. You had to explain that it was just going to be the man you brought back to the hotel, and how he would need to take him to the front, by some buses that would be waiting for him. He responded with a positive remark about how he was so awake he could drive you anywhere right now. You giggled half-heartedly, this wasn’t a local driver for this specific tour stop. No, this man was specially chosen by your label, and was able to get his hands on a rental car or limousine at any city, no matter the time or the cost. He added that he could tell you were saddened and if he should rough the boy up a little.

“No, in fact, I wish he didn’t have to go.” You said, looking over at Shinsou, who was at the door lacing his shoes up.“Ahh, I see. Love at first sight, I suppose. Those Yuuei students are remarkable indeed.”

You nearly choked on your own spit as he mentioned the school. “(Let’s keep that information between us, yes? I’m sure the label will be sending him an NDA soon, and I’m almost positive that his school will be doing the same for me. I already had to sign one to visit the other day. Just please, don’t let his friends see the car.”

“Yes, ma’am. I’ll be where you were dropped off earlier.”

“Thanks, Hideharu-san.” You said, hanging up.

“I don’t think you should walk me out.” His voice was low as he scratched at his neck. “I won’t be able to control myself if I have to see your face disappear into the shadows while I get hauled back to the arena.”

“I don’t think I would’ve been able to handle it either,” You confessed, giggling a bit to relieve the tension, “You’ve got both my personal and business numbers, though. Plus, you’ll have school to distract you once the weekend is over.” You walked over to him as you spoke, entwining your hands in his and bumping your forehead against his chest.

“I’m going to be texting you as much as I can between classes.” He reassures, “And on the weekends I’ll FaceTime you after training, and we can stay on all day and all night.”

You suppress a sob in his shoulder, feigning a cough in your hands to cover it up. “Of course.” Silence fell upon you, his hands squeezing your hips— he had to go.

“Kiss me before I leave, you damn drama queen.” He jokes, but his eyes betray him with how welled up they were with tears when you looked up at him, giving him a passionate kiss goodbye.

You could feel the crinkle in his nose as he cupped your face; he was trying so hard not to cry. When he pulled back he used his right hand to trace your face with his fingers— etching your face into his mind. The two first digits coming down your forehead, just like earlier.

Except this time, when they reached your lips, he whispered something you couldn’t make out.

“What?” You ask softly, freezing in place when your mind goes blank.

“I said I’m sorry, but I needed you to respond to me. I can’t have you chasing me down or I’ll come back running into your arms.” He explained, fingers still on your face. “Stay here, okay, kitten? My Quirk will probably stop working when I get out of the elevator downstairs. But until then you’re stuck here.”

With a quick peck, he walked to the door, opening it and taking a deep breath before looking back at you one more time. “Goodbye for now, babes.”

And then, he was gone.

You cursed him mentally, and being unable to throw your hissy fit only aggravated you more. You could feel the tears running down your cheek though.

How had he known?

You were definitely the type to take another elevator and try to catch up to him as the car left.

Once you were able to, you kicked the air and stomped.

“So not cool,” you grumbled, running to the window just to see the car heading out toward the highway. You sucked your teeth, heading over to the bed and texting him a lengthy, angry drama queen paragraph filled with crying emojis and a gif of Togepi from Pokemon crying hysterically in Misty’s arms.

He sent back a gif of Itachi poking Sasuke’s head with the caption “Forgive me, Sasuke”

You hated yourself for laughing so hard at that. God, he was going to be trouble.

Five Months, Three Weeks, 6 days Later

He totally was, too.

Regardless of how often you two texted, you always found yourself alone at the end of the night. And on your current album tour, you wouldn’t have gotten a break until the middle of next year, and you just couldn’t handle it.

But with issues beginning to boil over in Japan, some high-risk/very populated states in the US had to avoid ginormous events like parades, festivals or concerts in order to prevent what could be League of Villain terrorist attacks.

After Stain had gone viral all over the internet, his motives began infecting the streets of almost every country. Left and right there were new, small, but absurdly powerful groups of villains beginning to merge. But the US was prepared for once, easily instilling Martial Law and stricter rules aside Japan; No more using your Quirk recreationally, in fear of traitorous ideals being melded with everyday life.

It would make it easier for the police and military to zero in on what small gangs were up to, and for the most part they were able to keep the numbers low.

But at one point you were screaming at your TV as you watched All Might break apart after fighting with One For All, and you immediately urged your promoters and managers to allow you a break to see Hitoshi.

Luckily, the next few weeks of shows had already begun to be cancelled and refunded due to them being in coastal cities or large, populated areas such as Boise, Idaho, or Houston, Texas.

You tried your hardest to make up for the lack of shows by overworking yourself with Music Video shoots every week, filming as many as you could for the songs off the album you’d dropped since you couldn’t make it to their shows. The day before each missed show, you’d drop a hint about a song that would be the next music video drop, consistently responding to your fans’ cries to see more of your artistry while also being able to manage your own schedule.

This was the end of the third week; you were supposed to be in your tour bus outside a Los Angeles arena, but instead you were in a plane.

Your own private jet, courtesy of the label, of course. Though you had been stressing over no facetime and missed calls with Hitoshi, you were making it up with sending him as many updates about your life through text everyday.

Where you were, what you were filming, how many outfit changes you had. Basically everything except when it would drop. That you kept to yourself, wanting to surprise him and see his response when he’d see.

Little did he know, today’s photos were taken days ago. You had to film two music videos last week in order to take this upcoming week off. The planned photos were so he had no idea or preparation for your visit.

The two of you, prior to the Licensing Exams, had spent plenty of your time together on FaceTime, either while he was studying or during your downtime in makeup chairs, hotel rooms, or before talk shows. He was a very proud boyfriend, seeing how well you were able to still rock the charts whilst also trending vigorously on social media.

You were doing so well, distracting civilians from the horrors going on between the Heroes and Villains of the world. Daily live-streams of you with over twenty-thousand something people, goofing around or even charity streams for cities affected by terrorist villain groups. You were trying your hardest to keep spirits up, almost like a hero in your own way.

But, what you had said that night you met in the hotel came to fruition. Your label and UA alike came together and had both you and Shinsou sign a non-disclosure agreement, not a week after being together. Basically, you couldn’t talk about Hitoshi publicly, because the rep his school had, but also to keep yourself safe. But Hitoshi also couldn’t let anyone outside of his family and classmates know about your relationship.

Knowing how private he was, you knew that wouldn’t be a problem.

In fact, this guy was so starry-eyed over you, you were never gonna be shared to anyone outside his family.......... and Denki.

You were his baby, and he relished in the privacy of having you to himself. He wasn’t afraid to let you know that, either.

Steamier facetime calls were not a rare occurrence. He’d enforce how much he loved hearing you call him your Daddy, and how the idea of you being his meant you could get him to do anything. He was possessive, but he didn’t have any bad intentions. He adored you, your cute sleepy voice after show nights, the way you sung softly to yourself when you were applying makeup, the sexy poses you’d make in the mirror when picking out what to wear, not to mention how good you looked wearing the shirts he’d send you(sprinkled by his cologne and maybe worn for a day so you could still feel close to him).

Your perfectly curved frame would drown in his tops, the shortness of your torso and lack in height the perfect combination that made him feel so many different emotions that he could hardly breathe when he’d see you in them before bed or when he called you a little too early due to the time differences always changing. Besides, after the end of the semester, thanks to gaining his provisional license, Hitoshi wasn’t as readily available to call you as often.

His voice was always the best way to cheer you up, though; the nicest things and absolute word vomit he’d spill when you were having a bad body image day or if a certain amount of trolls got to your head.

He was always so stoic if you called when playing video games, hanging out with his blonde friend or studying. But even when you called him on a particularly hard training day, he’d still make an effort to talk to you. He didn’t put on a front just to appease his surroundings. Sometimes he’d drop the occasional, “Baby” or “Kitty” around people other than Denki, but since he didn’t really owe anybody an explanation(to anybody outside the few 1A kids he hangout with and peers in his own class), he’d keep walking, talking, or doing whatever he was doing when he let it slip.

This didn’t stop a few pursuers from attempting to get his attention.

As the new semester started, girls in the general courses started to realize just how attractive he was. It was annoying, really, for him. He didn’t appreciate that only after he’d pursued the hero course that suddenly he was one of the “Top 10 to TX-Smash” in a hidden blog run by business students that also wrote the regular school newsletters.

You cackled when he showed you the page, his face a mixture of deadpanned shame and embarrassingly pink cheeks.

They were very good photos of him, you had to admit. Candid shots of him reading a book while playing with his pen, some dad hat sporting thanks to Sero, Denki and Kiri’s obsession with baseball on the weekends, and one that you may or may not have submitted of him on call with you but cropped just so perfectly that it looked like a candid photo in real life, his notorious headphones finally coming off as he watched you shove your nostrils in the frame in the most unattractive and annoying yet adorable way that he had to just stop and wait for you to stop begging for his attention one day while he was cleaning up his room.

The one you had sent was through a secondary twitter account where you got to share more private feelings, follow your boyfriend back, post subtweets about him that will earn one in response but since nobody really followed your personal private account there weren't any issues with discovering he was talking to you. Nor did it stop the sleazy blog from accepting the picture you had of him.

You bobbed your head to your most recently dropped single, and finished up writing in your journal. Sighing as you smoothed out the covers, clutching it in your hands as you nervously bit at your lip. You’d been exclusively spilling your true feelings for Hitoshi in this book, with full intentions of him reading each page at any point in time. You didn’t have to tear them out and label situations for him to read certain ones, because that was so cliche and you just couldn’t bring yourself to act like that.

Instead, the lines of english cursive filled the spaces with complete honesty, and you couldn’t wait to see him receive this gift in person for your six month celebratory date night rather than read it to him over the phone.

You’d scheduled your facetime date for right around the time you’d be arriving on campus, and your plane had already begun its descent as you hurriedly packed the notebook into your go bag.

You brought enough clothes for your stay and merch for only Hitoshi’s close friends-- unreleased merch at that! You loved being on the good side with them, despite knowing they probably didn’t know about the two of you. You had too many bags for you alone to carry so your flight attendant mentioned how they were pulling the bags from underneath the aircraft and directly putting them inside a car waiting for you to get out there.

You would have to sort through them when you got to the hotel, which you made sure was as close as possible to UA. You didn’t want to drag your ass halfway across town via train and then still need to ascend the hill on foot while being escorted by pro heroes with all those bags. It was better that you had time to get the specific merch bag isolated and only take that plus your gifts to Hitoshi when you visited in a couple hours.

Occasionally you’d see his school friends comment on Instagram/YouTube or even mention you on twitter when they were listening to your music.

Sometimes you’d see them thirsting via emojis under your pictures, other times they were wholesome support and attempts at getting you to reply about if you remembered them.

The sounds of bells dinging made your heart leap in excitement; you were finally gonna see him. “Chill out, (name),” You whispered to yourself as you gripped the crossbody messenger bag, “You still have an hour and a half til you see him, girl. Focus.”

You exhaled deeply as you slid your name brand privacy shades on, stepping down the steps of your plane and bowing to the awaiting flight staff, some PR people and that same assigned driver as before. You smiled widely when you saw him, opting in for a small hug of his side while walking to his car.

The PR women decided that it was best for you to drop the music video before you got too distracted at the school, which was expecting you to wear a Quirk cancelling necklace any time you were to step foot on campus this week. You nodded as they spoke about new laws and orders of protection put in place since it was obvious the League was targeting UA for a reason. You were to be interrogated before they’d decide to let you in at all, and if you were to fail it, Hitoshi wouldn’t be able to visit you off campus either.

On Campus

The questions you imagined that could be thrown at you were nothing compared to the real ones. The officers that met you at the base of the hill stepped you into the guard box that was enforcing passage restrictions and used a lie detecting Quirk to see if you had any sly ideas of using your Quirk.

Something you finally got to know was that the reason UA bought their students tickets to your show six months prior was due to the echelon never seeing a Quirk quite like yours, let alone knowing you used it anywhere but couldn’t figure out how it worked; they needed to see it in action, and if they could hide that behind the face of just wanting their students to have a fun night before licensing exams and the end of the semester, they’d succeed in their study.

You were going to be visiting after a very grueling mission, afterall. The hero course students hadn’t fully recovered still, the trauma and just overall realness of their situation of being targets was just... not a good time for the staff to invite a stranger in, but according to the company keeping the school open, and the spirit of the upcoming Culture Festival, the NDA should’ve sufficed.

That didn’t stop your full body search for weapons(which, duh, you passed), the 30 minute debrief/interrogation, or the passive threats by Midnight and Aizawa as they invited themselves into your car, which was given passage so long as it came directly back down after you got out.

You hit ‘Make Public’ on YouTube, and ‘Send Tweet’ just as the car approached the front of the campus, and let you three out. It was a long walk to the dorms, and Midnight chose to stay behind when you reached the main building.

Leaving just you and the quiet man next to you, who looked like he didn’t have time to clean up after sparring with Shinsou today.

You’d arrived thirty minutes before they usually finished, so he let him go for the day, but you blushed when you remember this was the staff member you gave your Lilac babydoll dress to.

“Not to be impolite, Mr. Aizawa, but did you keep my—?”

“Before you waste your breath, I’m not going to answer that question but you can only assume what a man like me would do with a gift like that.” He grumbled, shooting you a brief side glance. “But in case that’s your way of asking for it back, I don’t think you’d appreciate what I have to say about the state of it.”

Now you were blushing harder, eyes widened as you averted your gaze to the suddenly intriguing sidewalk. Your thick heeled boots, specially crafted heeled doc martens in case anyone asked , were molded into your most comfortable height with deep maroon rubber and black laces that matched the thigh high mesh socks with a doodled white cat face right about the knees.

You weren’t embarrassed at the fact you were wearing a black lace bodysuit covered by a mid-waisted, dark wash jean skirt that adorned six buttons up the middle and felt skin tight in the most flattering way. The long laced sleeves of the bodysuit sort of flared out at the ends, the almost witch-like resemblance only fueling your confidence. Your neck adorned in black chokers, and the silver quirk-deactivating collar, you felt as good as you did in the music video that was currently being viewed by thousands.

You knew. You just knew that Hitoshi would try to call you as he started watching the video on his laptop. But when you rejected the FaceTime audio, and said you couldn’t talk but you could text, he explained what was going down in the dorm community lounge.

Your last music video that Hitoshi saw be played by someone other than himself was for the song Addiction, which you’d been performing all those weeks ago when Hitoshi had taken his breather and ran into the girl that brought him backstage. Unfortunately it was dropped when Denki had been streaming in his room.

Shinsou was making his way to his own when he passed by the slightly ajar door of his best friend, hearing the sound of your sultry voice playing through his speakers.

“Woah! Damn, she’s so good you guys, and that outfit is totes not why I’m obsessed with this video right now.” He exclaimed, having paused his game to screen share the video on Twitch. “I saw her perform this song live, like a few months ago, by the way! I had no idea it was gonna be on a new album either, how cool is that?!”

The video consisted of similar choreography as the performance, with your body glistening with faux sweat, but face still flawlessly done up, along with wet looking curls that slicked back in a very appealing way to frame your face as you were singled out in a pile of bodies.

The blonde groaned about how lucky a guy Shinsou was, prompting the e-boy to kick the door open wider. Denki nearly shit himself, sputtering about how he meant it jokingly and how he was ‘looking respectfully’ at the video.

His chat flooded with PepeHands emotes in confusion and teasing lines about ‘Lavender_Insomniac kicking Pikanari’s ass’. But Hitoshi laughed, saying maybe he was lucky because he got a lap dance from her, afterall.

They’d continue watching together with commentary about you performing it live versus how you danced in the video until they ended the night four hours deep in some lore theories about a battle royals game called Apex Legends.

The largest PHEW! left Kaminari’s body as the camera shut off, and after he thanked Hitoshi for saving his ass, you’d began blowing his phone up over a missed FaceTime call and the overly tired hero student facepalmed when he realized he hadn’t texted you to let you know.

Today you did the same to him, but purposefully; Letting your phone ring until the last dial died out, texting him a brief apology and letting him know you were watching your own livestream and chatting with commenters.

You were, so it wasn’t really a lie, and while your newest video was playing on a big screen, they could see the fans comments losing beneath it as well as the occasional heart emoji or commentary from your own account.

Mr. Aizawa, as stern as he was being, only scoffed as he saw you become glued to your phone.

“Forgive me, I just uploaded a music video, so I want to see what my fans think of it.”

“Don’t mind me, I was just explaining the consequences I would make you face if you were to have my students slack off or do something they’re not allowed to.” He grumbled, but you reassured him with a small smile, telling him you’d already agreed to the terms down the hill.

Your music video had been centered around your relationship with Shinsou, that much was evident to the pouty boy sitting on the couch between a pent up Eijirou and a cheesing Denki, but it started out with a cutesy version of an XXX-cam website. Already the shark boy started shifting in his seat, leaning forward with his hands on his knees as he watched your cam show option be opened and go into full-screen mode.

Shinsou couldn’t help the flush rising in his cheeks as he heard the lyrics he knew you had written about him. He remembered the exact day you shared them with him, after a particularly raunchy mutual masturbation session via Skype.

Sero groaned as he grabbed the midget by his collar, easily peeling him off the ground despite his cries of protest. “Sorry, man, you go too far and it’s real creepy.”

The pipsqueak sobbed as he was thrown into a closet, which had a piece of notebook paper taped to it with the words ‘Horny Jail’ written in sharpie.

Your face was now in full view from a high angle as you lapped at some spilling milk, tongue stuck out while it coated your chin followed by slow, scanning shots of the liquid dripping down your body.

Back to your face in the bed from the beginning, body splayed out as you said

“And that’s my T-chan, betta yet that’s my Hit-ta!” You winked at the camera.

It was a play on words only Hitoshi knew, a “hitta” was supposed to be an ode to someone who had no problem “getting rid” of the competition, but you said it after calling him T-chan (Toshi-chan), so it sounded like the first part of his name getting cut off. You were so fucking cute, he smirked as he watched you run your arms around your body on the silk sheets.

‘And he don’t even scroll through Insta, ‘less he going through my pictures!’

You were back on the loveseat, climbing all around it, splaying your body across it, all in such perfectly cut shots that kept the attention focused on the TV.

Hitoshi anxiously checked his phone, though. He was waiting for you to call him back and hoped you would do it as soon as the video was done. You were sending him kissy emojis and telling him that you missed seeing him all while you were less than five hundred feet from the dorms.

He texted back about what part of the video he was at, gushing about how hot you are and why he couldn’t wait to get you on FaceTime afterwards.

You smirked to yourself as Aizawa turned into the stretch of concrete that led to the front door of their building, your heart beginning to pound louder than the sound of your heels hitting the pavement.

‘When he off work, he callin me on Skype. Trust me, when I meet him, I’m fucking him on sight!’

The words had him looking back up at the TV, your small frame wrapped in various wires and dressed in a lingerie set designed to resemble a motherboard while your legs were clad by white thigh-high gogo boots. Standing around, you were pulling the wires through your legs and wrapping them snugly around your body. When you were laid down on a green floor, you’d rotate your hips around, grasping at your body parts as you sang to the camera, giving the audience the cutest flirty faces as the song went on.

‘Daddy my parents go through my shit! Huh, Oooh~ Can’t give head, you give me the facetime. Motokare’s a creep, caught him on Dateline, he ain’t getting pussy; he’s fucking an AI, Huh, Ooohhh’

Now he was audibly chuckling, quickly sending you a text about that line when the people in the room looked back at him.

You had told him a few ex-boyfriend horror stories, and geez did you have a few weirdos. That lyric about your “Motokare” was a jab about someone you went on a date with once, who told you he had built up his computer AI to have feelings and eventually mentioned possibly falling in love with it. After running away as soon as the opportunity came, you googled the shit out of him and found out that he had been on the show Dateline at one point.

You nervously tapped your fingers on your phone case as Aizawa flashed his credentials into the scanner of the door.

“Strict security measures, in case you’re planning to sneak in past curfew.”

You snorted, your nerves lessening slightly as he swung the door open for you.

Your feet were frozen, however. Your legs just weren’t moving as you heard yourself through the speakers in the lounge followed by laughing guys and some girls gasping or ogling over how cute you looked.

“C’mon already, you don’t have all day.”

“Ye-Yes sir, I— I just,” You sigh, “Haven’t seen him in a while.”

“I can assure you there’s nothing to be so damn nervous about. If you ask me, kid’s the one who should get nervous.” He says, leaning his back against the door, “Smokeshow like you deserves a real man. But don’t let me stop you from going in. I bet you’re about to shock the hell out of that group back there.”

‘Is you into that? (Into that, is you into that? Uh-uh)

You blush, putting your phone into your clutch and fixing the straps of the large tote on your shoulder.

“Stall-time is over.” He said as he ushered you into the building by grabbing the back of your neck and pulling your body into the doorway.

Click! thunk! The door locked behind the two of you, louder than you expected.

“Oi, Shitty Hair, who’s at the door?” a voice barked, the sounds of someone closing YouTube and starting up Super Mario World echoes down the hall.

Your body froze as a familiar red-haired boy stretched over from his spot on the couch, a loud gasp escaped his throat as he found your gaze.

“What? Who the fuck is it?!”

“It’s... It’s Aizawai-sensei and..— and—“

Multiple bodies on the ground crawled over to the edge of the rug to follow his gaze. All of them with the same reaction. Now Shinsou was annoyed too, sighing loudly as he begrudgingly got up from his spot.

“You guys are so dumb, just spit it out alrea— Kitty. ”

All nerves washed away when his body came into frame, a huge smile plastering your face as you began power walking to him, the heads on the ground dramatically switching from looking at you and the quietest guy in school.

A squeal escaped your throat as you threw yourself in his arms, “I MISSED YOU SO MUCH, TOSHI!” He was stiff, but his arms held your legs up as you Koala’d your frame into his torso.

“’Toshi?” Kirishima echoed.

“WHAT— IS THAT (Stagename)?!” Jirou screamed from her position on the other couch.

“I missed you too, what the— How?” He was at a loss for words as he let your legs drop back down to the ground, his hands moving to your neck and face as he looked at you like he was in some sort of dream.

“Surprise!” You cried, “Oh, and I brought gifts!” You said, looking over your shoulder to the people on the floor, “For you guys! ”

They all bustled into conversations aimed at you and Shinsou, mostly questions about your relationship and gushing compliments over how cute it was for you to surprise him. (Well all except Bakugou, who was steaming in his chair in jealousy)

“Alright, alright,” Aizawa said loudly, immediately quieting the room. “Yes, (stagename) is here. No you’re not allowed to post about it, tell your friends nor take pictures of them together— Just don’t do anything stupid, alright? She’s not staying here, by the way. I’ll be back before curfew to take her back. If anyone on the streets during your internship paroles pesters just tell them she’s taking some classes about harnessing her Quirk use. That’s the official statement from the school, anyhow. Don’t stress her out or make her uncomfortable and we won’t have any problems, got it?”

“Hai, Sensei!” The students responded in unison, except Hitoshi who was still looking in your eyes with twinkling irises. A warm flush heated up your cheeks, (and other places) , while his fingers caressed the hair at your nape and the frame of your jawline.

“And you two!” The voice snapped both of your attentions over, your body physically turning to face the pro hero glaring at you with his arms crossed, “It doesn’t have to be said for you to understand right? This is still part of campus so don’t go breaking any rules.”

“Oh, I’m a good girl, sir, I wouldn’t dream of getting Hitoshi-san in trouble.” You cheekily say, tongue in cheek when Shinsou nudged you with the back of his hand at your lower back. A silent, ‘Stop’ that brought a small apologetic smile to your lips. “Thank you for allowing this visit, I really appreciate it.”

You bowed your head down a bit as you spoke, flashing your bright eyes at the grown man in front of you. You knew the power you still somehow held over the man, thanks to his earlier comments. He rolled his eyes and mumbled some response as he walked away. The sounds of Hitoshi’s friends beckoning for your attention drowned out whatever he had said.

This trip was going to be so much fun.

Late Night Deep Dive:  What is best for HEAVENS fans

Hello friends and followers alike:  How are we on this Sunday Morning? So this post will be discussing a thing I remember seeing on twitter in a tweet thread when discussing HEAVENS and the upcoming movie.  The tweet in question I can’t seem to find at the moment but in it the concept of “What would be best for HEAVENS and their fans” came up and it was an interesting take for sure.  We’re going to discuss the rest of this under a cut though cos this might get long so join me will you

Alright so There was a tweet made by a user whom is also on this platform.  Now what they stated was their opinion (some of it just being plain wrong but I digress) and when I read the very first tweets in the chain it was interesting and gave me great pause.  One of the tweets went something like this “What would be best for HEAVENS (And HEAVENS fans) is if Raging was going to retire/shut down his agency and then Shining took in HEAVENS.  It would help characters that aren’t very popular/likable and get them more fans.” I might have gotten some of that wrong but I assure the person it was not intentional...quite the contrary but when I read that my mind went in a few directions and one of them was the story of season 4 In the season it was (at times) an “odd couple” situation:  The duo for the week might have some issue come up (let’s say Nagi/Natsuki or Shion/Cecil) and you just knew that something was going to happen.  It was a season where I couldn’t tell what A-1 wanted to do with HEAVENS as far as making them likable for the fandom (In Japan and Korea this isn’t an issue its more of a western thing) or if they wanted to “enhance the villainy”. THIS became a big issue because every week when you went to go look at the situation with the fans (at the very least on this site) there seemed to be a clear directive at times to ignore if there was something positive that HEAVENS did in anyway but call them out on their nonsense.  It was a very odd slant to take but at times you couldn’t help but notice it...especially when Shion had his nervous breakdown and the fandom made a meme out if it for some perverse reason which I never got...I’m sure the main reason goes like this “*Hiss* HEAVENS EVIL...MUST NOT LIKE THEM BECAUSE THAT WOULD BETRAY STARISH!” The irony of this mindset would be that in (almost) every episode the duo of the week would actually get along and want to sing together again.  Now that gets to be more funny when we get to the Triple S and STARISH doesn’t look the LEAST BIT happy...save for Otoya whom actually openly smiles at the site of Eiichi!  That was pretty interesting for sure. What would have been best for HEAVENS in this season is if the western fans of UtaPri saw what Broccoli/A-1 was showing when it came to HEAVENS like how Eiichi was a strict but fair leader and called out his brother when he messed up on something. What would have been best for HEAVENS then would have been when Eiichi had to console Shion and they have a talk where Eiichi was ready to bite the bullet for the duet project but Shion didn’t want that What also would have been best is if people saw when Eiji scolded Nagi during his duet episode and also if they saw when Eiichi was snatched up by his own dad.  The problem is people did see that and then acted like it never happened! (And if people want to argue this with me then tell me why when these things happened NO ONE commented on them during the season and only shit on Eiichi because of what happened to Otoya?  I don’t think you can!) Moving on Let’s talk about the end of the season because a lot of what happened there kind of addresses the idea in the tweet and...its not happening! If Shining really wanted to take HEAVENS from Raging his best opportunity would have been at the Triple S.  Yes Raging walked out without them BUT they technically are still with him AND after the end of Season 4 on a tweet marked on December 25th of 2016 it was stated as the following (and some of this is paraphrasing) “From now on the stories of the idols of Shining Agency AND RAGING ENTERTAINMENT will continue” And then there was some other stuff that I can’t remember offhand cos the tweet is literally almost 2 years old at this point. The point is that “What is best for HEAVENS and their fans” is not what you think.  You see from a story perspective like I said Shining had that opportunity to take HEAVENS when he blocked Raging from taking them off the stage when they were performing “Legend Star” (and selfishly a part of me wishes he had because the image of them just being subservient to STARISH always gives war flashbacks) and when Shining stood on the railing of the box that Raging had I had thought then (despite what Raging said( that Shining was taking them then because my question then would be this “Why in the hell would HEAVENS want to do a song with a group that has beaten them twice?  From a story perspective there (and maybe fan perspective) that doesn’t work because all that says is ‘HEAVENS is STARISH’s b***h’!” Now One thing that also got brought up was that “if HEAVENS joined Shining Agency that would make them more likable and get them more fans” I’m not sure if this person knows this but...A-1 CAN’T write a story for any group other than STARISH it seems and “Revolutions” is one of the best examples of this If you really stop to think about it from the way UtaPri was designed it felt like the “UtaPri Awards Arc” was used to introduce STARISH to a new audience and it did it successfully especially when they triumphantly won the award competition (although let’s be honest the name of the award show was a dead giveaway they would win but I was still happy for them).  When “Revoluions” happened I THINK this was the plan Since STARISH had the first two seasons of the series to introduce themselves and get better acquainted with a new audience (and old fans too) the writers probably thought it would be a good idea to introduce QN with a season of their own. ONE PROBLEM! See with STARISH you got 7 members so doing a season with 7 solos works out...QN only had 4 members so they had to figure out THEN how to add STARISH to make it look better (and to be fair it did). The problem comes here and I will use a criticism I got years ago that I never forgot. When I used to write RPs one of the “game masters” (Well...fed heads as the game was for what was called e-fedding) gave me the following criticism: He basically said that I wrote too many characters into the RPs to help my story along.  He basically said that the characters I added at that time were more “crutches” than anything that added to the story I was telling in the RP and its something I never forgot.  Its why if you find any of my fics on FF.net ,here or AO3 I try to condense the # of characters that appear so as not to just blatantly pad the story with characters that are unnecessary. Now this argument CAN be made “Well putting in STARISH makes sense in ‘Revolutions’ because they would face QN at the Triple S AND they would help the story out.” Alright I’ll accept that BUT I think this needs to be said too for maybe the “Innocent Wind” episode and NEVER it actually worked out.  I can’t remember the involvement of Masa or Ren in Ran’s and we already know that with Cecil it was just showcasing the conflict between Cecil and Camus.  Literally that whole episode felt like it was more about Cecil going off about how Camus was treating Nanami and only when she said that she had agreed to it did he kind of go “...oh” (BTW I must point this out that I actually LIKE Cecil as a character but that episode felt like it showcased him way more than it should have IMHO.) The point I am trying to make here is that for this season when the writers HAD to do something they found a way to wedge in the STARISH boys no matter if the episode SHOULD have had more of their influence or not.  I can’t say that this is when I started to take “issue” with the group because I don’t have one but this was something I noticed in the writing and it drove me friggin’ nuts! Season 4 though...holy hell! Here is why I get genuinely annoyed a lot of the time and I kind of discussed it earlier but I want to go full on here. A writer’s job is to make you give a fuck...period!  If you don’t give one fuck about something guess what happens?  You don’t and then you find a way to either directly or passively dismiss it! This season was a case of something going wrong in the writing and they didn’t know how to fix it. Here is basically what the writers knew 1.  There would be 7 duet singles and 3 group singles 2.  There would be 2 episodes prior to the duet project and 3 between Next Door and when the Triple S is getting ready to stary These were like the two main things in the entire meeting...now how do you think they are supposed to work off of this? Well the writers knew one other thing “Since Season 2 only 2 groups have been active for almost the duration of the season.  We need to keep this up but we also need to keep one of our more popular acts (as we would find out later that would be QN in real life) in the conscience of the viewer” So now let’s figure out how this puzzle was going to go STARISH and HEAVENS had the duet songs BUT at some point members of QN would show up give their Juniors a pep talk.  Now I have no issue with this because of the fact that QN were still the Seniors that STARISH answered to but at the same time I always thought about the whole “HEAVENS’ role is to make STARISH better” thing and it always made me wonder “Then what is QN’s job?!” Well it also made me think about this (and this is more recent) “So if HEAVENS’ job is to ‘Make STARISH better’ then whom is the group that is supposed to make HEAVENS better?!” Now a weird twist in this question came recently when they announced the “Shuffle Units” because you have in some cases a 1-1-1 situation where its 1 QN member 1 STARISH member 1 HEAVENS member This works...the problem comes when its either 1 STARISH to 2 HEAVENS or the other way around.  My thing though is for the groups that have the one QN member is their job now to try and teach HEAVENS to help then get good enough TO BEAT STARISH at some point or what is the purpose behind this?  Cos really the issue is that by having a unit where you have either 2 HEAVENS or 2 STARISH in one there is going to be a problem where you know that one part of the fandom is gonna wait to watch the other fuck up...that’s all this is becoming if we’re really brutally and thoroughly honest. This actually would bring me back to the beginning of this long af post “What would be est for HEAVENS (and their fans)?” If we are being brutally honest To be left the f**k alone! Here is what I mean by this It is clear in the western fandom there ware a lot of people that don’t like ,haven’t liked AND WILL NEVER LIKE HEAVENS and that’s fine...at this point I’ve all but given up on some of you because you can’t be talked to about the positives because the negative is what you see...fine! So here is what I ask in return If you see that HEAVENS fans are genuinely pissed off about something that they heard that they might not be happy about stay in YOUR LANE unless you want to be a bit more positive about them to that person cos really if we’re honest...its been 2 years and we western fans the only content we genuinely get to see is what the fans in Japan and Korea do.  How often does anybody even THINK about the fact that HEAVENS has had their birthdays announced and yet I think there is me and one other person that has done stuff for them because they are members of a group that isn’t popular on here and I get it.  I think honest to god most of their popularity at this time comes from Twitter (and when I do my fics with them as central figures because I rarely see anyone else do them). I’ll end like this What would be best for HEAVENS and their fanbase is acceptance after the group (as a whole) has been around for about 6 years (3 as a 7 member currently) and the support of the rest of the fandom.  Otherwise please...if you see we are upset about something and you can’t help the situation please just leave us alone because we are tired and we just want them to be happy...that’s not too much to ask is it? Who is Orange? (Minecraft HC 7 Theory)

I realize it’s a wonky title but regardless I wanted to talk about this. I know I haven’t brought this up too much, mainly because I haven’t had the motivation.  However, basically we’re getting more information about Minecraft HC 7, namely on the cast members thanks to our good buddy Todd. This means a new season is coming up but from what’s been shown so far, it looks like they want to do something different.

Fun right? Now, this is the most recent version of the graph that’s been uploaded by Todd (Luke and Jirard are new additions). However, due to a reveal on Amber/Krooked Glasses’ Patreon (the artist who does the portraits in case you didn’t know), we also know who Red is (who I’ll get to soon).

This wil basically talk about my theory of who I believe Orange is. And considering how long this’ll likely be, it’s going to be under a cut along with a potential spoiler since… well.  Red hasn’t been really properly introduced. So in case you want to wait until the proper (?) reveal, you don’t have to read this.

Let’s get start then shall we? Strap in folks, this’ll be long.

Now first off, let’s clear up who Red is.

I mentioned Amber’s Patreon and that’s because the title showed a portrait that has yet to be revealed. And who may this portrait belong to you may be wondering?

Look at Jins! But yeah, considering this is a portrait we have never seen before, it’s safe to say that Lucah is returning in Minecraft HC 7. And considering a response from Todd, it’s likely this was intentional too.

Although now, we basically have seven confirmed cast members with one person whose unknown and, as you have guessed, that is Orange.

The details that we know about Orange is that they have glasses. you can see since whatever the bump is doesn’t seem smooth enough to be hair (unlike Lucah or, say Jon or Ian). Although it does match in a similar vein to people like Dean, Ray and Chad (ProtonJon also has glasses but his hair blocks it out in a silhouette).

Actually, let’s deal with the elephant in the room first and that’s Dean’s absence. In case you didn’t know, McJones has already said he’s officially retired from HC. (Link to a screenshot from the subreddit here).  I don’t have much to say on this matter. It’s surprising but I had this sense it would happen. Although considering Dean was on every season and seemed to be a staple to it, it’s odd to see that he’s not here. I haven’t seen any confirmation if he’s retiring from HC too. It’s very likely he’s busy and just couldn’t participate this time (being a lawyer is busy work I imagine). That, or some other reason that’s more private. Who knows but there is a chance he won’t be in this season at all. Which will automatically make it a weird and somewhat off-putting season. …As long as they can make it entertaining like Minecraft 2 was (or more since Lucah’s confirmed and she’s a ton of fun), I can handle this.

But the chances are very high it isn’t Dean. I mean, if it was, you’d think they’d reveal him from the beginning. Although that does bring up the question, if it’s not Dean then who is Orange?

The most common speculation I’ve seen is Ray. And I can see where the merit would come from that. I don’t think it’s impossible or him to come back, I’m sure people thought the same for ProtonJon after Terraria 2. However, one tweet a friend brought to my attention was this response Todd made on the same post revealing Luke and Jirard.

This is very interesting and honestly, it tells me a lot about who Orange isn’t.

One thing that PBG, Jeff, Barry, Jared, Luke and Lucah share in common is that they have already appeared in a Todd-era season (as I’m calling them).  This is the most likely reason why they get variants as a sneak peek with their reveal. We already know what their alive portraits look like.  I mean, what’s the point in showing them if we already know about it? Although that is assuming, despite the variants and new death portraits (apparently), they’re keeping those. I couldn’t help but notice Jared and PBG’s faces looks a bit blockier/sharper.  Still, Todd clearly wants to show a new season feature being portrait variants throughout the season and so the best way he can do this is use people we’re familiar with in being in past Todd-era seasons.

This is the first time Jirard’s been in a season since Diablo II and the first time he’s ben in a Minecraft season since… well Minecraft HC 1. And I’m sure we remember how that went! Still, it would be appropriate to show Jirard’s default portrait since he’s never appeared on a Todd-era season. It’s a good introduction to him.

And you might be wondering “What if their portrait got updated? That could still count as a new one right?” You can argue the same thing with Lucah’s.  It got a slight change to the hair w here it seems to stick out less and yet she still got a variation. And as Todd said, Jirard and Orange’s are the only ones that are brand new and don’t have a variation.

So if this is the case, and these portraits are new, it seems to me that Ray is not likely either.  Although now this just brings up the question about who it is.

All we know for Orange is this:

- According to the silhouette, this person wears glasses - They are likely someone PBG and/or Todd are familiar with (though they can surprise us with this one) - Whoever it is has never had a proper HC portrait in the Todd-era of seasons or in general. So either they are brand new or someone whose brand new to the Todd-era.

Now from these facts, here are some of my guesses on who Orange could be.

Paul from Continue

Recently, Paul has started wearing his glasses more often. He could very well return for the season, even though I have my doubts he needs another redemption after Diablo II. Although I can see the case with Jirard for these reasons.

Even if Paul kind of got a redemption in Diablo II, it’s the black sheep of the HC seasons. Not many people pay it much mind though at least it’s not as bad as the case with DayZ. Adding him to a Minecraft season could be like giving him a redemption more people will see but watch Diablo II for how confusing it can be, it’s pretty entertaining

Nick from Continue

In a similar vein to Paul, he could very well fit in. He also has glasses although I don’t know how the hairstyle would work. His hair is kind of poofy and goes that way including the back of it. Although I guess I can be surprised. It’s not like I’m not completely sure about the hair would work. …Come to think of it, has there been anyone in the Todd-era seasons with particularly poofy looking hair?

BalrogtheMaster/Wallid

I feel like slowly, we’ll see all the Hidden Block members like how we’ve seen all the Normal Boots members on HC at least once. I mean, we’ve got 4/6. All we need is Jimmy and Wallid.  However, Jimmy’s not exactly known for wearing glasses and his hair is kinda swooshed up. Not to mention, Wallid’s the only one who wears glasses as well. He could fit with it pretty well! And I think from the head shape and the hair, he could fit the best! His hair now kinda matches the hairline. Again though, like Nick, can’t really say much for the back.

Our boy Todd

This one was brought up when talking with friends. There was a brief discussion about Todd joining an actual season rather than being a cameraman/mysterious-potentially-questionably-benevolent figure like in Minecraft 5 and Minecraft 6 respectively. Although he would fit with the glasses part of the portrait.

I don’t know too much in terms of the hair. I think it could work to a decent effect but we’ll have to see. I think having Todd as an actual member would be interesting. Although considering he needs his cinematic camera shots, and maybe being another source of quests like in Minecraft 6. I mean, Minecraft 7 didn’t say it wouldn’t have that. Just… please don’t bring back the Totem. I don’t think people can deal with that again after what happened last season.

PushingUpRoses

We know that she’s a good friend of PBG’s since one of PBG’s earliest videos involves doing a Darkseed playthrough. From what I’ve seen, they still remain friends to this day. The only problem is that the hair is too short at the back and while it could be the hair being tied up, like with Dodger’s, pictures of Roses shows that while she ties her hair, it still drops down.  And it may end up looking a bit too much like Dodger’s as a result though I doubt literal hair bow can be replicated twice.  Frankly, Roses might be the least likely out of all of them but who knows? I wouldn’t mind seeing two girls on the same season.

Going off of that though, you can say that for all of the people I mentioned. I do hope that Todd reveals who Orange is soon. I have a feeling they’re working on a trailer and when they post the Minecraft 7 Trailer, that’s when they’ll finish up the graph to include Lucah and Orange who’ll likely get their first appearance in the trailer.

Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Anyways, I haven’t really done a post like this before. Thanks for reading this far if you have! Who do you think it is? Who do you hope it is? Do you agree with this theory or do you not? I think having discussions like this can be interesting but. Well. Don’t expect too many. Still, I think Minecraft HC 7 is going to be very very interesting.

Columbus, Ohio, shooting: Police officer shot and killed a Black teenage girl holding a knife, police say and bodycam video shows “We don’t yet have all of the facts but we do know that a 16-year-old girl, a child of this community, tragically died last night,” Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther told reporters. “Bottom line: Did Ma’Khia Bryant need to die yesterday?” he added. “How did we get here? This is a failure on the part of our community. Some are guilty but all of us are responsible.” Ginther said state investigators will determine “if the officer involved was wrong, and if he was we will hold him accountable.” Police identified the officer who fired the shots as Nicholas Reardon, who was hired in December 2019. The officer is off street duty pending an investigation. Calls seeking comment from the police union have not been returned. The fatal shooting comes at a time when police use of force around the nation — and in Columbus specifically — is under new scrutiny. In February, former Columbus police officer Adam Coy was indicted on charges related to the fatal shooting of Andre Hill, a 47-year-old Black man. Late Wednesday afternoon, a crowd of demonstrators — including Ohio State University students — marched in downtown Columbus toward the state Capitol building. They chanted “Black lives matter” and “Hand up. Don’t shoot.” They also chanted Ma’Khia Bryant’s name. Hundreds gathered in different sections of Columbus throughout the day as they headed toward police headquarters. Police attempt to revive teen after shooting The girl’s mother, Paula Bryant, and the Franklin County Children Services had identified the teen as Ma’Khia Bryant. In a series of clips from police body camera video, the girl is seen holding a knife during a tussle with another young woman. An officer arrived at the scene and opened fire when the girl appeared to attempt to stab a second woman. “She’s a —- kid,” a man at the scene tells the officer after four shots were fired. “Damn, are you stupid.” Ma’Khia fell to the ground, the knife by her side. “She came at her with a knife,” the officer who fired his weapon is heard saying. The situation unfolded rapidly, according to clips from the body cameras of three officers on the street. Ma’Khia was holding a knife in her right hand and charged a woman dressed in pink — who turned to her side as the teen appeared to attempt to stab her. That’s when the shots rang out. Officers attempted life saving measures “almost immediately,” said interim Police Chief Michael Woods, who said the first medics were on scene in six minutes. In the video, one officer is heard asking, “Where is she hit?” The officer starts lifesaving measures. “Stay with us,” he tells the girl, asking bystanders her name. “Stay with us, Ma’Khia,” he implored. Officials asked the community to wait for all the facts to come out. If an officer is “faced with someone employing deadly force, deadly force can be the response,” Woods told reporters. Asked about the policy on the use of Tasers versus handguns, Woods declined to comment on the specific incident but said: “If there’s not deadly force being perpetrated on someone else at that time, an officer may have the opportunity to have cover distance and time to use a Taser.” “But if those things are not present, and there’s an active assault going on in which someone could lose their life, the officer can use their firearm to protect that third person,” he added. Ginther said the Bureau of Criminal Investigation will look into actions of the officer. “I understand the outrage and the emotion about this incident,” Department of Public Safety Ned Pettus Jr. said at a new conference. “The video shows there is more to this. It requires us to pause.” Governor calls fatal shooting a ‘horrible tragedy’ Republican Gov. Mike DeWine called the fatal police shooting of Ma’Khia a “horrible tragedy” and praised Ginther’s transparency in releasing the videos of the incident. “You cannot get over the fact that you have a teenager who’s dead and that’s a horrible, horrible tragedy,” DeWine said at a briefing. “We have to look at the facts.” DeWine added, “We should have enough compassion to worry about every child who is shot in our cities. And we should not accept it.” Ginther told reporters on Tuesday that “based on this footage, the officer took action to protect another young girl in our community … But a family is grieving tonight…” “We have a duty to protect the public and ourselves, certainly, the public,” Keith Ferrell, president of the Capitol City Lodge number 9 police union, said in a video on CNN affiliate WSYX. “These are the kind of decisions officers are forced to make every day, and with this transparency, the public can see that. As unfortunate as it is, we do not know potentially how many lives could have been lost in addition or people seriously injured.” The shooting happened about 30 minutes before the verdict was delivered in the killing of George Floyd. A jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of all three charges against him. “As we breathed a collective sigh of relief today, a community in Columbus felt the sting of another police shooting,” Floyd family attorney Ben Crump tweeted. In Tuesday’s shooting, police received a call at 4:32 p.m. indicating “females were there trying to stab them and put their hands on them,” Columbus Interim Police Chief Michael Woods said. When police arrived, the first officer on the scene approaches a group in the driveway of a home, according to that officer’s bodycam footage. The video shows a teen quickly move toward another girl with what appears to be a knife, and the girl falls to the ground. The officer yells, “Hey, hey, hey, hey. Get down!” before she appears to lunge at a second girl with the knife, according to the video. The officer tells her to “Get Down! Get down! Get down! Get down!” and then fires four shots in the direction of the teenager. One officer attends to the shooting victim. Officers assessed the girl for injuries and summoned a medic, as is protocol, Woods said. “Ma’Khia had a motherly nature about her. She promoted peace. That is something that I want to always be remembered,” Bryant, the girl’s mother, told TV station WBNS. A neighbor says video showed teen ‘was the aggressor’ A neighbor of Ma’Khia Bryant told “New Day” that video of Ma’Khia’s death demonstrated that the teen “was the aggressor.” “I can certainly see why the police officer chose to stop her. Now, whether or not less lethal force could have been used, whether or not a Taser could have been chosen instead of a gun — I don’t know,” Ira Graham III told CNN’s John Berman. “But I do know that with Ma’Khia having that lethal weapon in her hand, she did need to be stopped.” Police did not have any information on whether the two other individuals were injured, Woods said. The officer will be off the street while an investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office takes place, Woods said. The investigation then goes to the Franklin County grand jury and then back to the police department for an internal review, Woods said. On Tuesday night, Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin spoke of Ma’Khia’s death during a committee meeting to vet nominees for a new civilian review board that will oversee the city’s police force. He noted the collective “sigh of relief” that came with the Chauvin trial verdict in Minneapolis, but added “there is a truth that for so many in our community there’s no relief.” Ma’Khia’s death, Hardin said, “put in stark view” the need for police oversight and accountability. Tim Tebow is the only Football player that, according to liberals, has no right to kneel on a football field, or anywhere else for that matter. Spring training for Major League Baseball doesn't begin for nearly a month yet, but for Tim Tebow haters it was "Play Ball." Moments after The New York Mets announced that the outfielder will start spring training in their major league camp, the man the left loves to hate was in their sights. We’ve invited nine players to major league #SpringTraining including: Peter Alonso, P.J. Conlon, Kevin Kaczmarski, Patrick Mazeika, Drew Smith, Corey Taylor, Tim Tebow, David Thompson and Adonis Uceta. #Mets — New York Mets (@Mets) January 19, 2018 Tebows' 1st Season Wasn't Record Breaking, but... Overall, he finished the year with a .226 batting average, eight home runs, and 52 RBIs. He hit .220 with three home runs and 23 RBIs in 64 games for the Columbia Fireflies of the South Atlantic League before being promoted to the Florida State League in June. He hit five home runs and 29 RBIs for the St. Lucie Mets. I know it's not a lot to hang your baseball cap on, but, considering Tebow had not played baseball competitively since high school, is pretty damn impressive. In fact, hitting .226 with a not outrageous strikeout rate gave the New York Mets a legitimate reason to give Tebow another look. Plus he does bring in fans. As evidenced by Tebow doubling and tripling attendance at every park he played at. Once you adjust for the league offensive environment, Tebow was approximately 8 percent worse than league average with Columbia and 3 percent worse than average with St. Lucie. Since Tebow had not played professional baseball in over 10-years, he wasn't great, but he didn't stink out the joint either. Jordon vs Tebow The only person I could think of, that was in a similar position as Tebow, was Michael Jordon. The Chicago Bull Basketball great left the game to start his Baseball career. Unlike Tebow who is an old 26-years-old, by Baseball standards, Jordon was ancient at age 31. Jordon played 127 games, hitting just .202 with 3 Home runs and a strikeout rate of 27% in MJ's first and only year playing professional baseball. Many trotted out the old "He's taking a spot from someone else." Funny, those that use this lazy, tired, excuse, never mention exactly who that person is that was more deserving? It's the old standby saying for those who don't actually have a legitimate reason but feel the need to disparage the person they hate. Similar to how Democrats cry "He's a racist" then never having to explain exactly why the person is racist. The lefty writers also went with the other old excuse "They are only doing this to draw in fans." Umm, what is every team from A-ball to the MLB trying to do? Draw fans to the ballpark. Winning is almost secondary to attendance. Without fannies in the seats, no team except maybe the New York Yankees will sign better players for more money, to make their team win more games. For those that use these excuses means they are just lazy reporters, in need of a somewhat legitimate excuse to attack the person they hate most. The Left Swings For The Fences Never addressing the fact that Tim Tebow had not swung at a 98mph fastball in over a decade, the left hatred of Tebow seems to be enough of an excuse to disparage him. USA Today's Gabe Lacques took a couple cheap shots at Tebow by comparing him to Don Quixote? "The telegenic former Heisman Trophy winner will once again be the most scrutinized player in camp as his quixotic bid to forge a career in baseball resumes. "In 2017, he was added frequently to the major league roster and – after going to the wrong on-deck circle before his first at-bat – did not embarrass himself often in nine Grapefruit League games, starting 0 for 9 before pushing his average as high as .235 and getting hits off reputable major league pitchers such as St. Louis’ Michael Wacha. He finished with a .148 spring average (4 for 27) with eight strikeouts." R.J. Anderson, of CBS Sports, said it's been a quiet offseason for Tebow, which ... "... should help (if only a little) remove the sideshow veneer from his attempt at a baseball career. ... As such, there's no real downside to bringing him to the big-league side during the spring and seeing what happens. In three months' time, nobody will remember or care." Bush administration. CNN reported Monday that Burns — who was the Under-Secretary of Political Affairs at the U.S. State Department during Bush 43’s administration — had joined Biden’s 2020 campaign for the presidency to drive the former vice president’s foreign policy agenda. Burns also served on the National Security Council in both the Bill Clinton and George H. Bush administrations, and is a professor at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, according to his LinkedIn profile. According to The Intercept, Burns is a senior counselor at the Cohen Group, which the outlet describes as ‘a global lobbying and influence firm’ that ‘represents weapon-makers and other companies with interests in the U.S. and overseas.’” • So what’s the issue?

By hiring a former Pfizer executive to run his charity, count me as skeptical that Biden is about to do anything that really challenges the pharmaceutical industry.”• “Hiring”? Looks more like a pay-off, to me.

Biden (D)(3): “Don’t Blame Black Voters for Supporting Joe Biden” [Medium]. “But it takes more than just being Obama’s first mate to secure the African American vote. It all comes down to beating Trump. If Warren, Sanders, or Harris show and prove that they can take on the president, they might siphon black voters from the Biden camp. For the well-meaning, far-left white progressive contingent looking to change the minds of African American voters who view Joe Biden as the only option, here’s a little advice: Prove that someone else can knock Trump on his ass. And that starts by not going after the record of the most popular Democrat alive today (Obama).”

Buttigieg (D)(1): “Buttigieg ramps up outreach to Democratic superdelegates” [Associated Press]. “Pete Buttigieg (BOO’-tuh-juhj) is ramping up his outreach to Democratic Party superdelegates with a phone call to them outlining the scope of his 2020 presidential campaign. The outreach suggests Buttigieg’s campaign is looking beyond the early primary states to the possibility of a convention fight for the nomination. Superdelegates, who include Democratic National Committee members, elected officials and other party dignitaries, have historically held an outsized influence over the nominating process.”

Gabbard (D)(1): “Tulsi Gabbard’s daredevil act” [Politico]. “Gabbard delivered a piercing, if inaccurate, appraisal of Kamala Harris’ law enforcement record — then turned it into a misleading, yet effective, online ad push.” • That’s all Politico says. I heard what Gabbard said, when she said it, and could have backed up every line of it with links. Gabbard was even nicer than she could have been, because she left out Mnuchin. I wish I could say this article was shocking, but it isn’t.

Sanders (D)(1): “Bernie Sanders killed it on Joe Rogan” [Boing Boing]. “Bernie Sanders’ appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast was a gamble; the show has dabbled with some pretty reactionary politics in the past, but it has a vast audience (the Sanders episode has had nearly 5m views), and Rogan gave Sanders the space to expound both on policy specifics and wider “vision” questions, and Sanders nailed it…. The vast dark matter of the electorate is at the core of any political campaign, and that’s who Sanders is speaking to in this hour-long interview, and judging from the comments, he’s reaching them.” • Yep.

Trump (R)(1): “This Week Has Already Produced Three Bad Signs for Trump’s Reelection” [Bloomberg]. “The president needs to keep suburbanites, rural voters, and industrial states on his side for 2020, and the last few days have been bad for all of them…. The mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, Ohio—and Trump’s reluctance to push strong gun control measures—is likely to exacerbate collapsing Republican support among suburban voters… Trump owes much of his electoral victory to his strength in farm states. Many are already suffering from retaliatory tariffs imposed by China. On Monday, their plight worsened when the U.S. trade rival said it would suspend all imports of American agricultural products. Of all the groups in Trump’s coalition, falling support among farmers may be the least costly in electoral terms, since they hail from such deeply red areas.”

I wouldn’t bet the farm, or the cattle ranch if one prefers, on Texas turning blue this cycle. As a result, obnoxious opinions don’t simply disappear when they’re removed from mainstream service providers. Gab.com is often described as a “safe haven” for right-wing extremists, even though its founder emphasizes that the site welcomes dissidents of all stripes. The people who seek refuge in Gab tend to be those who have been banned from Twitter, and it just so happens that a lot of them represent the far right. Similarly, 8chan gained traction as a haven for those who had been censored on 4chan, which had previously served as a refuge for those who had been banned by SomethingAwful, a rather dark site to begin with. Facebook moderators have told of the mental distress suffered after viewing relentlessly awful content. This must be what it’s like to be an 8chan user. Bitcoin is 8% higher over the past 24 hours at $6,815, according to coinmarketcap. Here’s why.

1. The Bitcoin (BTC) technicals

In November last year bitcoin broke from a trading range of $6,800 to $6,250 that had been held since mid-September, and began its descent to the $3,200 bear market low. The break coincided with the Bitcoin Cash brouhaha and which was blamed by many for triggering the collapse. Bitcoin has recaptured and, for now, surpassed those levels.

The fact that the price has broken through to the top end of the $6,000s is impressive, given the substantial resistance out in place by last year’s rangebound trading.

There may be some pullbacks from here but assuming momentum continues, then the next points of contention could come into view at $7,300, $8,500 and $9,950.

Another key technical flag was the golden cross in April, which saw the 50-day moving average cross higher above the 200-day moving average. The last time that happened was in October 2015 when bitcoin was priced at $250.

Finally there’s the halving. The best time to buy bitcoin is around a year before the block reward halving takes place, as seen in the chart below from Byzantine General. The reward drops from 12.5 to 6.25, slowing BTC issuance.

Fidelity Investments, one of the largest asset managers in the world, will turn on trading for institutional customers “within a few weeks” it was reported by Bloomberg, via its Fidelity Digital Assets service.

With $2.4 trillion in assets under management, Fidelity doesn’t just bring credibility to the crypto world, it brings the institutional investors too.

In a similar vein, the purported entry of two of the big four US brokerages into bitcoin trading is massive.

The news started to leak out when evidence of TD Ameritrade testing bitcoin trading emerged, followed by reports confirming the same for E*Trade, again by a well-sourced Bloomberg report.

Then there’s all the money that’s been sitting on the sidelines looking in.

But for every one of those, there will be others who either sold near the top or on the way down and have been looking to get back in when they could see a bottom forming.

And the fact that he  doesn’t say “buy Tron” alongside BTC is striking. Bitcoin dominance has been rising, currently standing at 58.4.

Bitcoin had been sucking the air out of the altcoin market because it is the main trading pair, although that has changed today as alts join in the rally.

On Monday morning when the mainstream media picks up on the gigantic strides made by BTC, expect more FOMO.

The reality is dawning on at least some of the sceptics, or those of a previously agnostic view, that bitcoin is for real; it’s not going anywhere.

Those who bought into the Tulip bulbs bubble stuff are now wondering if they were wrong.

The footwear and apparel company talks about “providing a digital currency or digital token for use by members of an online community via a global computer network; facilitation of financial transactions using unconventional currency systems and bartering” as well as “crypto-collectibles customization for hobby or entertainment purposes”.

Collecting shoes is a thing, and it does not take much of a leap of the imagination to see Nike selling its one-off special editions exclusively through the medium of a “cryptokicks” token. Cryptokicks could be huge in a different, cooler, way to Facebook Coin.

That is the conclusion to be drawn from the fallout from first the Bitfinex/Tether mess and the threat to both from the New York Attorney General and, secondly, the hacking attack against the Binance exchange.

We're only just getting over our 2018 midterms hangover, and now the 2020 presidential race is upon us.

That means any number of candidates are starting to hit the campaign trail — and some are already misfiring on all cylinders. From here on out, every single move candidates make will be scrutinized to the fullest extent that the grinding internet news cycle will allow.

Some of the bumbles are minor, but there are others that could hint at further trouble ahead. Here, then, are a few examples of early missteps from candidates who are either already in on the race or are flirting awfully heavily with the idea.

Elizabeth Warren's cold beer and hot takes

It seems silly that a sitting U.S. Senator would be criticized over her choice of beer, but this is America in 2019. Nothing is safe. So when Sen. Warren followed up her initial 2020 announcement with an Instagram live involving beer, you knew it was gonna make somebody mad. 

Sure, Warren is trying to be relatable for the young voters to whom authenticity is incredibly important. There's even a cameo from her dog! But some of her detractors, including Fox News, were quick to take issue with either her choice of beer (Michelob Ultra) or her attempt to be, well, genuine.

So far, we have Warren cracking a beer in her kitchen, O'Rourke popping champagne in an igloo, and Gillibrand baking a berry crumble, all on Instagram live. How much of this shameless pandering will we have to endure? Thank goodness for Bernie, can you imagine him doing this?

Howard Schultz gets roasted over candidacy

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz thought he had the big ideas necessary to bridge the political divide in the U.S., but, oh boy, did he learn the hard way that Americans are tired of white billionaires trying to solve everyone's problems. 

When Schultz announced he was exploring running for president as a centrist back in late January, he was met with a meager round of applause — and an avalanche of backlash, from people mocking his moderate position to liberals worried he'd siphon off votes from a Democratic candidate.

His initial tweet about running got ratioed pretty quickly and his subsequent tweets have suffered a similar fate.

Bernie's backlash

Sen. Bernie Sanders has yet to even announce he's running in 2020, but it seems like a foregone conclusion. And he's got a stack of problems to solve, even before he's officially in the race.

Sanders has already had to apologize to several women who worked on his 2016 campaign who were sexually harassed by other campaign workers. Things got even more awkward ahead of Trump's State of the Union speech, when Sanders announced he was doing a rebuttal separate from the official Democratic one being given by Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams. 

Sanders, who endorsed Abrams in the Georgia gubernatorial race in 2018, faced backlash from many who saw his separate response as an attempt to take the spotlight away from Abrams.

As popular as he is, Bernie may be treading on thin ice after this move. He'll have to do some delicate maneuvering to avoid alienating voters looking at a crowded field.

Cory Booker loves Hot Pockets

One of the biggest criticisms of Sen. Cory Booker points to the gobs of money he's received from Wall Street and big pharma companies. It's possible that microwavable food for stoners and college students will soon be added to the list of nefarious connections for Booker after this tweet, sent shortly after he announced his candidacy for president.

Cory Booker has already tweeted about Hot Pockets because, well, it was a whole story back when he was mayor of Newark, New Jersey, in 2012. As Newark (and the rest of the North Atlantic Coast) recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, Booker tweeted moral support to a resident who really missed having Hot Pockets.

Hot Pockets responded by giving Booker's constituents coupons for free Hot Pockets, a microwave miracle.

So the fact that he gave Hot Pockets a shout-out upon making his presidential announcement could be seen as a cute bookend to the story of Booker's rise. But Booker's in the big leagues now, and any interaction with #brands on Twitter can lead to swift and sudden retribution from an audience that's ready to pounce on something that even hints at being inauthentic. 

Sure enough, people on Twitter were already using this Hot Pockets tweet as a chance to take shots at Booker.

Kirsten Gillibrand's fundraising tweet 

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is already finding out that being a presidential candidate brings a lot more scrutiny, no matter how small your transgression may be. For instance, she recently experienced her first food-related road bump when she seemed to show she didn't know how to eat fried chicken.

More problematic, however, was a now-deleted tweet that Gillibrand's twitter account sent out which showed a GIF of her yawning during President Trump's State of the Union speech with the message, "Agree? Chip in $5 so we can put an end to this."

It's highly unlikely this was Gillibrand's intent, hence its quick deletion. More likely, it was a mistake made while trying to quickly leverage a viral social media moment, something that pretty much everyone is doing and, as this list has shown, not exactly nailing.

Perhaps at her next social media workshop, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can go a bit deeper into the "what not to do" category.
