Thanksgiving highlight #1 — after recovering well from her spay, we did the paperwork and took Ruthie home with us for good. She will miss her foster sister, but luckily, Gigi has been adopted by Ruthie’s foster parents and her foster parents are our good friends, so these sisters will see each other often. Thanksgiving highlight #2 — the side-dish exchange organized by my friend Beth, which included five families. So fun to see everyone (masked, outdoors, at a distance, the most socializing I’ve done in months) and to take home an array of treats to enjoy at our own pace, in peace, feeling thankful for our health and safety. Highlight #3 — the foraged foods all found within walking distance of my home, important features in our basically vegan and entirely satisfying feast — oyster mushrooms and wild marjoram in the stuffing, and hickory pie. It took me many hours to shell enough nuts, but it was so so worth it. Nezuko, we found her on the street, she was a cat who lost her home and shelter, so we thought about giving her a new home. We adopted her three weeks ago, now she's in better health, playful and active. At the time of choosing your pet, you will have been made aware of their previous situation and upbringing. Spend Time Together One of the best ways to bond with your newly adopted pet is to spend quality time with them.
