Experimenting with style. Loved working on this one. Especially at the end when I realized the horse is kinda just standing there like a sim ominously staring out into the distance.
Painted with Adobe Fresco. Reference from pinterest.

LEVERAGING PARAMETERS 1/2
Figma
Figma—a collaborative design tool start-up that Adobe bought last year for $20 billion—was born out of a diversion caused by parameters. When founder Dylan Field set out to build the company, his focus was on drones. In his application for the Theil Fellowship program, he wrote, "I am going to change the world by creating a better software for UAVs." However, his friend and cofounder Evan Wallace eventually convinced him to shift directions from the drone space since they “couldn’t come up with a drone idea that didn’t hurt people or violate their privacy.” This apparent roadblock ultimately became a helpful parameter that allowed the founders to build a bold new tool that transformed the collaborative design process. Read more about the start-up's story here.

The New Toy
Brought home a new computer on Tuesday. It had been on order for a couple of weeks. It's a 15-inch MacBook Air, the newest model, with an M2 chip, 24Gb of RAM, and 2TB of solid state drive.
It's a sweet machine, and I've been spending a couple of days preparing it for our trip to Oregon, when I'll be using it to continue the work I do for church and my recovery fellowship. (I don't officially turn over control of these positions until the end of August, but I'm certain to keep providing some training for a while.)
The old laptop has served me faithfully since 2010, but it has reached the limit of its ability to upgrade to new operating systems. It's already stuck on Catalina, which 10.15. Apple is getting ready to introduce Sonoma, which is version 14. Even my desktop won't be able to go there, so another new machine is in the near future.
Perhaps. It might turn out that the new laptop will be sufficient to do all the work that will need doing in the future. And while the desktop has had a few glitches lately, it's behaving nicely at the moment. I'm not rushing to put in an order, especially since the newest desktop models don't have the lovely big screen that old one does.
I've finished uninstalling all the Adobe products from the old laptop and installing them on the new machine. Not all of them, either, since I've yet to use everything available. Just a few standard options for the time being.
And I wound up not trying to "restore" the old laptop to the new one. Again, there's way too much on there that's not needed, at least in terms of applications, and the files I work with have been maintained on the desktop and moved over as needed.
Which is what I am doing now with the new machine: stocking up on the files and assets I know I will need during our three weeks in Oregon. No need to send over everything. Plus it's easier than ever to use the little SSD drives I have purchased lately for external storage.

Jerry N. Uelsmann (born June 11, 1934) is an American photographer and was an early exponent of photomontage in the 20th century in America. His work in darkroom effects foreshadowed the use of Adobe Photoshop to make surrealistic images in the late 20th century, a process led by his now-ex-wife, Maggie Taylor, at that time. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1967, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1972, and the Lucie Award in Fine Art in 2015. He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, a founding member of The Society of Photographic Education.

[ID: A digital portrait of a young black man. He is wearing a suit with a patterned pink shirt and lavender tie as well as a pin that says "Love Wins". He is holding a microphone and appears to be speaking to the viewer. The background is art nouveau inspired and decorated with forget me not flowers.]
