I voted Discovery because not only does it center around a woman, but it means more to me to see multiple women with different backgrounds in leadership roles who have to make important calls. I also really enjoy the exploration of different dynamics with women - mother/daughter, friends, enemies, leader/subordinate, ect.
And there's more than one Black woman on the bridge 🙌🏿.
The Picard seasons are separated because they seem very separate to me by this measurement. Please share the reasons for your vote if you’d like to do so!

Kat's Rude Awakening
Admiral Cornwell wakes up on a strange ship with people she doesn't remember, holes in her memory, and probably a bad headache, once again proving that nobody in the Star Trek universe is ever really dead.

Katoberfest 2024!
This year's Katoberfest will be held October 20-27, 2024.
There are seven days of prompts + a free day:
Sunday October 20: Sleeping under the stars or “I care for you.”
Monday October 21: Outsider POV or “You made your choice.”
Tuesday October 22: Doors don't work that way or “I could never leave you behind.”
Wednesday October 23: Prank war or “Drop the attitude.”
Thursday October 24: Seated together at the bar or “You don’t seem like yourself.”
Friday October 25: Kat can’t sleep or “Are you sure you want to do this? Because there’s no turning back.”
Saturday October 26: Where is Katrina Cornwell right now?
Sunday October 27: Free Day
There are extra challenges:
The Katrina: post every day
The Cornwell: combine both of the day’s prompts into one work
The Vice Admiral: Kat is dead but [your choice] can still see her
The Admiral: create one work that includes at least five of the fifteen available prompts.
The Price of Command: Kat glimpses what her life may have been if one pivotal event had not happened, or had happened differently.
There are no requirements or limits to any medium (e.g. word count, art style, length of vid or pod, etc.).
You may answer as many, or as few, as you like and there is no specific format. The prompts are jumping off points and may be considered in universe or meta. Answers may take the form of essay, discussion, fiction, artwork, bulleted lists, gifsets, vids, vlogs, comics, whatever! It is also fine to answer prompts on a different day than that which corresponds with the prompt (if you miss it, or it is simply easier for you). There is no right or wrong way to participate! The purpose of Katoberfest is to celebrate Admiral Cornwell, not create work or drama.

(Fandom) Age Appropriate
I think a lot about a Women at Warp interview with Jayne Brook, the actress for Admiral Katrina Cornwell. As part of the interview, Brook said:
You know, I think it's really, really important almost more, deeply important than we can know, consciously, just to see women who don't disappear after they age. And, you know, I've thought it through a lot, but after a certain age where the world finds that they're worth something 'cause they're fertile or beautiful or whatever. So, I just think it's incredibly important to see women not become invisible. And Cornwell is a great example of that. To see women, because there are women out there in the world. They're doctors, they're surgeons, they're lawyers, they're are all sorts of things, they're architects and we don't see them enough. So, that was quite an honor and very, very important to me, personally, to play someone who—a woman, yes, who's-you know, I don't like that phrase "middle aged" because it's kind of-it has connotations, but just an older woman. You know, a woman who is not the typical, young, Hollywood thing.
But what's so interesting too, to me, and fascinating is I thought when I played her that I would be getting a bunch of letters, or when I came to a convention, it would be a lot of women, you know, of my age that would be saying, "Thank you, thank you," and that's true. But I couldn't believe the larger number of young women who were very drawn to that character. I was like, "Wow!" You know, women who are 22, 24. And I was talking with some people about it and they said, "Well, young women need—they need to know that there's a future for them. They need to know that there's something ahead." And I was like, "Wow." That's an honor to give that in some small way.
When I see younger people in fandom expressing surprise (or worse) about “older” people — especially women — in fandom, I think of what Brook said. We don’t lose our desire to play, to engage, to have fun just because we’re older. There’s a future for those young people, and older fans can prove that future as something to look forward to.

Sea for the WIP game
Shockingly, I did not find it on either of the current Rings of Power WIP docs I had open . I did find it in not one but two ASOIAF/GoT ones though!
From an afterlife crossover fic where Admiral Katrina Cornwell runs into a couple of Sers from Westeros (showverse):
“I’m from Westeros, though I spent many years across the Narrow Sea in Essos.  Where are you from?  I’ve traveled quite a bit and I have never seen or heard of this United Federation.”
From a multiship plotty bookverse chaptered fic:
I hope the Daenerys Targaryen does come across the Narrow Sea, and those dragons of hers roast them all alive in their beds, Cersei thought, feeling a smile threaten to spread across her face at the thought.
(send me a word and if it is in any of my WIPs, I will reply with the sentence it occurs in)
