I voted Discovery because not only does it center around a woman, but it means more to me to see multiple women with different backgrounds in leadership roles who have to make important calls. I also really enjoy the exploration of different dynamics with women - mother/daughter, friends, enemies, leader/subordinate, ect.
And there's more than one Black woman on the bridge 🙌🏿.
The Picard seasons are separated because they seem very separate to me by this measurement. Please share the reasons for your vote if you’d like to do so!

Kat's Rude Awakening
Admiral Cornwell wakes up on a strange ship with people she doesn't remember, holes in her memory, and probably a bad headache, once again proving that nobody in the Star Trek universe is ever really dead.

Katoberfest 2024!
This year's Katoberfest will be held October 20-27, 2024.
There are seven days of prompts + a free day:
Sunday October 20: Sleeping under the stars or “I care for you.”
Monday October 21: Outsider POV or “You made your choice.”
Tuesday October 22: Doors don't work that way or “I could never leave you behind.”
Wednesday October 23: Prank war or “Drop the attitude.”
Thursday October 24: Seated together at the bar or “You don’t seem like yourself.”
Friday October 25: Kat can’t sleep or “Are you sure you want to do this? Because there’s no turning back.”
Saturday October 26: Where is Katrina Cornwell right now?
Sunday October 27: Free Day
There are extra challenges:
The Katrina: post every day
The Cornwell: combine both of the day’s prompts into one work
The Vice Admiral: Kat is dead but [your choice] can still see her
The Admiral: create one work that includes at least five of the fifteen available prompts.
The Price of Command: Kat glimpses what her life may have been if one pivotal event had not happened, or had happened differently.
There are no requirements or limits to any medium (e.g. word count, art style, length of vid or pod, etc.).
You may answer as many, or as few, as you like and there is no specific format. The prompts are jumping off points and may be considered in universe or meta. Answers may take the form of essay, discussion, fiction, artwork, bulleted lists, gifsets, vids, vlogs, comics, whatever! It is also fine to answer prompts on a different day than that which corresponds with the prompt (if you miss it, or it is simply easier for you). There is no right or wrong way to participate! The purpose of Katoberfest is to celebrate Admiral Cornwell, not create work or drama.
When sharing on social media, tag your posts #Katoberfest2024. We will reblog and retweet all tagged posts.
The AO3 Collection is available here.
Any questions, do not hesitate to ask!

attitude problems
[on ao3]
Admiral Cornwell shares a drink with the Emperor. If only that woman wouldn't get under her skin so much...
fandom: star trek discovery characters: katrina cornwell/mirror!philippa georgiou rating: m wc: 659 prompt: day 4 "drop the attitude." for katoberfest 2024 @theadmiralslegion
---
"What's she like?"
A raised eyebrow. "Who?"
Katrina took a sip from her whiskey glass. "The other - me."
"What makes you think I know her?" Philippa gave her that damn smirk again. No, not Philippa - the Emperor. The tyrant from the other universe, who had probably killed more people than the entire Klingon fleet in this whole war combined, and enjoyed it. Not Philippa.
"Just a feeling." That flash of recognition when they first met. The way she looked at her now. There must have been a shared history, and Katrina needed to know what it was.
The Emperor chuckled and watched the whiskey swirl around in her glass before finally answering. "Smart. Cunning. Very ruthless." She looked up. "Not so different from you, actually."
You know nothing about me. "Is she still alive?"
"No. He killed her."
Of course he did. Katrina had never hated someone as much as him. The other Lorca. The imposter. Bastard. Maybe one day she would be able to forgive herself for not seeing it. Not very likely, though.
"What was your relationship?"
"My, so many questions, Admiral." And again that damn smirk. "Almost makes me suspect this is some kind of interrogation, and not just a chat between friends."
"Didn't think you had any," Katrina snorted. "Friends, that is. And I am definitely not one of them."
"Pity. I think we'd make great friends, actually."
"I disagree."
Katrina emptied the rest of her glass and turned towards the window, watching the stars. Of course it wasn't exactly smart to turn her back on that woman, but right now, she just couldn't stand looking at her face anymore.
"You were close. You and Captain Georgiou."
Always that mocking tone. Katrina suppressed a snarky response, and the urge to slap that attitude out of her. She shouldn't even answer the question, the Emperor would only find ways to use it against her eventually. But on the other hand, she wouldn't be able to deny it convincingly anyway.
"Yes."
"Lovers?"
Katrina laughed at that choice of words - she hadn't suspected that to be part of the Emperor's vocabulary. "In a way."
Definitely in a carnal sense, though not romantically. But Katrina had loved her, still did, and missed her every day. If there was such a thing as soulmates - there wasn't, of course - then Philippa would have been it. She never took the time to properly grieve her death, so meeting the Emperor was all the more painful. That woman, who was so much like Philippa - and at the same time very much wasn't. What a cruel twist of irony that the two people Katrina cared most about came haunting her from another universe. At least in this case, she knew it wasn't her Philippa.
The Emperor stepped up behind her, and Katrina was acutely aware of how little space there was left between them now. "I think we should be friends," the Emperor declared and put a hand on Katrina's waist, then slowly slid it down, stopping at her hip. "Intimate friends."
"Sorry, not looking for any currently. And I suggest you remove your hand," Katrina remarked dryly, but made no attempt to bring some distance between them - which she really should. This was entirely too close. Dangerous, in so many ways.
The Emperor leaned in to her ear, standing at almost the same height as Katrina in those ridiculous heels. "Do you ever drop the attitude, Admiral?
"No. Do you?"
The hand wandered further up again. "No."
In an instant, Katrina turned around, grabbed the Emperor by the throat, and pushed her against the bulkhead, glaring at her. Their faces were close, too close, and the Emperor held her gaze, again with that mocking smirk that Katrina despised so much.
Did she hate her? She wanted to.
I miss you.
Katrina bridged those last few inches between their faces and kissed her. This was such a mistake.
She almost felt like Philippa, too.

eternally sleepless
[on ao3]
Katrina can't sleep. Philippa has to drag her back to bed somehow.
fandom: star trek discovery characters: katrina cornwell/philippa georgiou rating: g wc: 334 prompts: day 6 'kat can't sleep' for katoberfest 2024 (@theadmiralslegion) and 'eternally, sleepless, i am yours' for lyrical bingo (@sweetspicybingo)
[lyrical bingo masterlist]
---
"Do you ever sleep?" Katrina looked up from her PADD to see Philippa leaning in the doorframe, arms crossed, an amused eyebrow raised. "Never. That's what coffee is for." "Giving out bad medical advice now, doctor?" Philippa straddled Katrina's lap and pulled her into a kiss. "Feel like sharing what's keeping you up?" Foreheads against each other, Katrina let her hands wander under Philippa's shirt and just enjoyed the warmth of her skin for a moment before finally answering. "Was recommended for promotion." "About damn time they made you Admiral." They both chuckled. "Hmm." "I thought this is what you wanted." "And I do want this. It's just... a late-night moment of self-doubt, I guess," Katrina sighed. "What if I'm not up for it." She hated this - doubt in her own abilities, sudden lack of confidence, irrational fears. And Philippa was the only person she ever allowed to see that part of herself. The only one she felt safe enough with to let her guard down. "Of course you are," Philippa insisted, as if it was the most natural thing. "I have yet to see an obstacle that Katrina Cornwell couldn't tackle. Definitely the best person for the job." "I think you might be a bit biased, my dear." "Who, me? Never!" Another kiss, then Philippa got serious again. "You will do great. Just like you always do." Katrina nuzzled her face into the curve of Philippa's neck, inhaling her familiar scent for a few moments to ground herself. "Probably," she conceded. "Glad we are on the same page here," Philippa chuckled. "And now come back to bed, I have a senior staff meeting in less than four hours, and I would like to have breakfast with you before that." She got up from the couch and dragged Katrina along. "After you, Captain." "No, after you, Admiral." Both laughed and Katrina pulled her into her arms once more, kissing her forehead. As long as she had Philippa in her life, things would be okay.
