EVERGLOW: K-pop Discography Deep Dive

Everglow is a 4th generation girl group under Yuehua Entertainment, who debuted in 2019. They have six members: E:U, Onda, Yiren, Shiyeon, Mia, and Aisha, and just recently returned from a nearly two year hiatus with “Slay”. In honor of Everglow's comeback tomorrow, I wanted to take a minute to spotlight my favorite Everglow song--it's kind of an unexpected one, so I think it'll be fun to share :)

I tend to have a problem with the production in Everglow's b-sides--I don't know if it's a budget thing, but they tend to feel strangely hollow to me, which means I rarely replay them (I really really really want to enjoy "No Good Reason" more than I do...). But "Nighty Night" is a major exception--I've been obsessed with this b-side since it came out! The messiness of its production works in its favor--the produced-in-a-garage sound is an asset when your song is trying to sound like a garage. Like, a mall parking garage where construction is going on or something? I love every weird sound in this song, but that random brick of synth that drops in at 2:20 to underscore the final chorus is EVERYTHING to me. It stops my heart--"Nighty Night" is like a rollercoaster ride where you're just waiting waiting waiting waiting for the drop, and when it comes the thrill is so stim-worthy! And though this song doesn't show off their abilities like "La Di Da" or "Don't Speak" (we see you, second verse Mia!!!), the members have to do some heavy lifting to make the disjointed instrumental feel coherent, so I definitely wouldn't underestimate their contribution to making this strange arrangement work.

I would recommend "Nighty Night" for my fellow enjoyers of weird sounds--if you like dissecting the instrumentals of songs in your head & trying to pull apart all the layers, I think this one will be a real treat! --and for people who appreciate the more deranged type of girl crush songs (in the vein of 4minute's "Crazy").

Do you like Kpop dance challenges?

If yes, which challenge would you do with the boys? Like I think Rafayel would maybe do Magnetic (Illit) with you or Caleb might do Spot (Zico ft Jennie).

I do! I enjoy a wide range of music and k-pop is definitely one of them

I haven't done any dance challenges with the boys or anyone for that matter 🤔

Personally I know bits and pieces of a few routines and don't think they'll ever see outside my bedroom walls on cleaning day *laughs nervously*

At first I thought of doing a newer trendy dance but then was reminded of Trouble Maker by Trouble Maker (Hyuna & Jang Hyun-seung)

It's fun, it's flirty and has an essence of mystery, just like him

Caleb would probably only do it for the laughs though

I think Silver Spoon by BTS would definitely fit his vibe and is more fun for us to mess around with because I highly doubt he'd stick to the routine after a while haha

R: bom, em 2021 eu usava muito o twitter, e eu sempre olhava as pessoas usando packs lindíssimas, até que um dia perguntei pra uma mutual minha onde eu poderia achar packs/layouts bonitos! ela respondeu que no tumblr tinham vários posts lindos, então eu instalei o tumblr e fiquei maravilhada com os posts que haviam aqui.

foi assim que me despertou o interesse em começar a fazer posts também! no começo eu fazia layouts e moodboards, mas agora faço apenas moodboards!

R: sinceramente acho isso uma falta de juízo e senso! sei que muitos desses haters estão passando por momentos difíceis e acabam descarregando ódio em diversos blogs, mas dessa forma você não apenas afeta a si mesmo, como também afeta o próximo, procurem ter empatia antes de realizar algo que reflita na vida do próximo!

e pensem bem antes de espalhar notícias falsas sobre um blog, pois isso não deixa de ser um crime!

11. E por último, alguma situação constrangedora que já passou, todo mito de verdade já passou por uma dessas, não é? Vai ser incrível escutar alguma história de sua vida.

R: no momento não me lembro de muitos momentos constrangedores, mas lembro que muitas vezes eu chamava sem querer a professora de mãe quando estava no 4°/5°ano KKKKK
