Haven't posted these 2 lil bbys anywhere yet, I think!! Soo let me post something, to try to get back into the habit. I don't think it's a secret, that I hate social media and mostlyyyy do not like posting on it, plus it's hard for me to keep up with algorithms. I wanna be my own artist, without algos, to determine, whether people see my stuff or not. I guess it's an advantage, starting so small again. On some days, I was embarrassed to post stuff, on others I wanted to be seen by everyone under the sun. So let me just...Post something for the sake of myself.

(This drawing is almost a year old again, fresh posts will be rare from someone like me with low energy btw, to new people visiting my page by some sheer stroke of luck)

I made this back when like...I freshly changed my chibi style again, to something I'm more happy with.

I love drawing Chloe and Leo together but....I still yearn the day, where Finn and Marco overtake via "most images" category on TH. I just can't stand to see Chloe is my most-drawn character. I do NOT want to accept that fact. I want C.I.Ta or my boys to stay on top. I don't even LIKE Chloe that much, which I think, bothers me to the core, that she has so many drawings to begin with. My fault ofc, that she's so easy to draw as well. But that begs the question, why I keep putting my more detailed charas along with someone like her together sdfgkjsdg.

One thing I might need to get rid of btw, is my bad tendencies to CONSTANTLY write long descs. Like idk. Does anyone read these? Should I just..Stop adding these? Even though I love rambling? Does it stop people from looking at my art? You can let me know, if you want. I spend 1-2 hrs just...Putting down my process and my thoughts about a drawing down here. But I'm not sure, if people want that. Yes, it's my blog and all, but I try to keep it more professional and high-key here, unlike my Insta, which is just...My garbage dump basically, 0 fricks given.

Anyway, I'll see if I can schedule a posts for a bit, so that I don't just drop off the face-of-the-earth again. Between all the death that surrounded me and just overall, the many migraines I had last week, I am ever so mildly concerned, about my own wellbeing not getting any better, yknow? Also btw, I am a bit rusty with tagging things, so expect me to possibly get tags wrong again, but as mentioned in a previous post, how tf do you tag something properly anyway. There's no rules to tags, just basic human decency, to add the right ones and not be a scumbag bot-advertiser LMAO

Finished Alice & Wonderland finally a few days ago and couldn't help but draw parallels, pick out the themes, and cry when Alice slayed the Jabberwocky! "OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!"...that's what I'm going to do with these things I've been battling

online shopped for like 2 hours (I know...way too long) for back to back days because they're having a special: spend $150 and get $100...I'm very indecisive because I don't have much time to shop and don't want to do it often, and the stuff I buy tends to stay with me for YEARS...and I had a LOT of gift cards at Free People (THAT IS MY STORE!!!)...I bought these! Hopefully they fit, hopefully it was worth it...I feel like I keep trying with little pieces...one day, people are going to be sending me my designer wardrobes for free...these are going to hold me over and hopefully inspire me to the attract the opportunities that help get me there; I like comfortable, cute, unique, different things...with a feminine hippie undertone:

They say people will be more attracted to you the less they know about you, and for someone as open and vulnerable as me, this has been hard...I guess this is why I feel like this blog is so therapeutic: I can get my feelings out, have them read without knowing who the reader is and without the reader knowing who I am

Dependent on my friend...I really look forward to meeting with her biweekly; she couldn't come to our meeting today and I felt a little sad...it made me scared because I'm so used to being left/made to look dumb

Accomplished...I've built Hangman, Rock, Paper, Scissors, and a few other things; I regretted starting the 100 Days of Python since I already know the language instead of going harder on the Algos, but I am doing it to get to the harder lessons on stuff I don't know and just to get faster with the language which will help me both in the algos and on the job eventually, especially since, I tend to lose my train of thought mid-algo sometimes...Like today, I figured out how to add recursion to my problem by accident, and recursion is really difficult for me...PLUS, I'm learning a lot of new tricks and resources I never knew of even in these beginning lessons...most importantly it's getting me up to work at my desk and reminding me that I can sit for long, knock out some Pomodoros and ...I worked more hours yesterday than I have in one setting all month...

My A1C levels are on the bridge for pre-diabetes...like if I was 0.1 over on my score, I would be considered pre-diabetic...so I need to get that in check...I was inspired to check by this healthy Black YouTuber Hallease and my grandmother has diabetes...that life is NOT fun...movement helps but it contradicts going hard on this interview prep stuff...I added the Pomodoro Gym Chrome extension to make sure I get up because my FitBit watch KEEPS giving me a rash...I hate it...

Glad I overcame the paranoid thoughts of having a brain issue...

Sad at all the time I've wasted in the past on social media procrastinating from doing the work and making things harder for myself

Glad I meet weekly with an old colleague...white girl gets me and we relate...but she reminds me of an old friend that ended up ghosting me and acting like she didn't know me...PEOPLE are hard to trust

I think what most people don’t realize is that the more you insist that every website make your choices for you (blocking everything you don’t want to see at a state website level rather that provide you with some of the internet’s best tools for blocking everything you don’t want to see yourself, at a user level), the more you are advocating for an internet where people are not allowed to make choices.

Most of the modern social media landscape is filled with algorythm that decide what you see. Following someone no longer guarantees I their content (see: instagram creating a sort of super-follow for the people I *really* want to see which is practically admitting that normal follow just doesn’t fulfill its basic function anymore); following a tag results in me seeing posts from other tags the algo decided were “related” even tho I never asked to see these things. Before twitter went to crap and I left, the only way I managed to make it useable was to systematically block everything I *didn’t* want to see, essentially making the experience of using the website opt-out rather than opt-in (opt-in social media: I choose what I see and I only see the things I specifically instructed the site to show me, via methods such as following people, following tags, or clicking on category tabs or even clicking on a “for you” or “suggested content” tab. Opt-out social media: I choose what I don’t want to see via mutes and blocks but my main feed is filled with things I have no particular control over. There might somewhere be an option in a menu where I can see what tags and categories the algo thinks I want to see and I can uncheck things there, and it might even work.) And even when you do rely heavily on blacklists and muted tags, other users will be encouraged to use censored or misspelled words to slip through your filters, because they have been made to believe that “metrics” is the single most important thing and that algos must be tricked, and that other users trying to control what they see are snowflakes who must also be tricked, because god forbid anyone not see their “content”. It’s not like they can rely on things like “people following me” to result in “people seeing my posts”, anyhow, as this no longer works. So they tag-spam with the most popular tags, no longer understanding that the point of tags is “to indicate the subjects of the post so other people can either find or filter it”. They censure and deform common trigger words, no longer understanding that it’s rude to force your posts on other people who don’t want to see them (after all, isn’t that how social media works now? Nobody chooses what they see on their feed, get with the times!)

Some popular grammar softwares apparently change words and sentences without informing the user or prompting an “accept/reject suggested change” dialog box. They are making decisions for you in a way that introduces doubt that the text you are sharing with a friend is even the same text you have written or intended to write (I have in good authority that several authors have had the bad experience of their editor calling them wondering why their stylistic voice suddenly changed in their latest draft shared via online collaborative writing tools…) This was fun (“fun”) when it was the realm of autocorrect fails in text messages. When it’s your manuscript or text you are writing for a job, random unwanted word and syntax changes are suddenly a lot less funny.

Google has basically become a “did you mean [other thing we think you ought to be googling instead] machine (example: looking up whether there is a certain specie of fish in a certain river, getting only results for fishing trips and vacation instead) with a heavy serving of “the statistical mediocrity ad-lib machine will now show you text shaped like an answer but will not tell you where you can find the answer yourself or where you can go to learn more”.

All of these are being presented to us as “convenience”, but that is a big fat lie. It’s about control. It is no longer good enough for the corporations managing the biggest internet websites to collect and sell your data; they have figured out that it’s more efficient to shape your data. You are interested in reading thriller books? Well, there way too many of them out there and it would be a pain to try to figure out which to advertise to you. Now everyone is seeing videos and posts about the same five thriller books. Look at how popular these are! This is viral. Election coming up? Everyone gets to see the same news, the same opinions. You are interested in [tv show]? Here, have some [content].

Ao3 is one of the only spaces left where the website works exactly as the internet in general was initially *supposed* to work. I go there, decide what I want to see, and then I access a useful group of tools that can help me curate and refine the results of my search until I have exactly — and only — the things I asked for. The website did not make any blanket decision for me or any other user about what is available for me to search through, because everyone is different and will want to see different things. It’s like going to a grocery store and heading to the section I want, then browsing the shelves, then picking up exactly what I want, with additional options to read through a list of ingredients to see if what I’m allergic to is in there or not. If the product does not provide the list of ingredients, and I put it in my cart anyway, then it’s on me if I get home and find out it’s got walnuts in it. I won’t die if I eat them, but it will suck, so I don’t tend to put un-labelled items in my cart. My husband tho, who is allergic to nothing, is a lot more cavalier when he buys things for his own consumption.

Going to the grocery store and standing in the middle of the place and wailing loudly “oh my god there are walnuts in some of these products!!!” Would not only be socially embarrassing, but it would be disruptive and I would be asked to leave. All the walnuts present are in sealed packaging; they are not a danger to me unless I actually pick up a product, go through check out, open it, and eat the food.

You understand how many steps that is before I come into dangerous contact with the walnut, right? You understand that in the case of an allergen serious enough that it can kill people, 99% of the products will be labelled out of common sense and the unlabelled ones will pretty much all have a “may contain” tag, right? You understand that the only scenario in which complaining of walnuts is sensible is if the product was specifically labelled no-walnuts but then it actually had them as a gotcha, and that this is the only case where other people will agree with you, right???

no but how much audacity and sheer entitlement do you have to have to tell people they need to stop posting their darkfic and porn fic and any other fic you don’t like to ao3 so you can have a safe space when ao3 was literally created as a safe space for writers to post their content without fear of it being randomly wiped out by pro-censorship assholes with an agenda like what has happened to plenty of other fic archives before?

“but a lot of us see ao3 as a safe space to get away from that kind of nasty content” - lol you can see the middle of a busy interstate as a safe space all you want too but that doesn’t mean that you get to walk into the road and scream at all the cars going by that they’re the ones infringing on your safe space either

ao3 is not, has never been, and will never be a site meant for nothing but children’s stories. you can “see it” like that as much as you want but there’s a difference between fiction and reality and that view of what ao3 is like is as fictional as the stories posted on it.

Aizu Updates: Projects for June

It's been a hot minute since the last one of these, so I think it's time for another one. I'm thinking that having this be a bi-weekly thing would be a good schedule. I'll be talking about my time on Bluesky so far, Clip Idol, and some other miscellaneous updates.

These still need a proper name. I'll call them Aizu Updates since I blew my creativity budget on drawings and games. I will be retroactively adding the tag and title to previous posts like this one so they'll be easily accessible.

First I'll talk about my time on the elusive Bluesky. I managed to get on there thanks to someone generously giving me an invite code (NOTE: If it was you and you'd like me to specifically mention your handle, please feel free to reach out and I'll add it in; otherwise I'll keep you anonymous so people won't try hounding on you for invites. By the way: I'll only give invites to people I trust!). Bluesky is similar to Twitter on the surface, but it's actually a decentralized platform with no algorithms, at least not like the ones you may be used to on other platforms. Currently there's a "What's Hot" tab for posts with 12 or more Likes, and there's a Following tab that's always presented in chronological order that covers original posts, reposts (read: retweets), and even replies to other people. At this point in time, hashtags aren't implemented and DMs don't exist. The people there are kind of tight knit so specific communities aren't really a thing just yet, but that could change pretty soon. For now, I'm spending most of my time on the platform trying to get more artwork uploaded since I feel there's a sore lack of it.

A new development is something they're calling "Algos," which are basically a way to add more tabs functioning closer to the algorithms of other platforms. This is part of where Bluesky's decentralization comes in, because (from my understanding) it's a way to change what the platform thinks you're most interested in seeing on the fly without needing to make a fresh account. This is what will separate Bluesky from Twitter and could be a huge development for the future of social media in general. With it, you'll have more control to influence what things the platform assumes you'll want to see instead of just being at the mercy of one algorithm that's rigged by some guy with an offensive musk.

The biggest thing I'll be doing in the immediate future is a complete mad dash to finish Clip Idol. I'm supposed to be presenting it again very soon and I need to finish all of the artwork for it so it's in a presentable state. I'd love to make more minigames for Harley to play, but I think the time is coming to put a cap on Clip Idol and get started on something new. It's the only way I'll get better at making games, and I'm sure people will want to play this one! If you haven't seen the previous update I made about Clip Idol, I'll share a link to the latest in-progress video I've uploaded:

I've also been hard at work on my Vtuber model, who I decided I'm going to call... Aizu. Yeah, yeah, I know it's not a very vampire-y name, but his design came from ideas based on a lot of self-reflection (but still with a few liberties, I definitely can't pull off wearing a crop top in real life), so it's the same as my current username. Some people have called me a vampire before, so you know what? They're right. I am a vampire!

The model is already fully rigged, but I'm still running tests to make sure his tracking works properly. I'm also still drawing backgrounds, including the main one I'll be using. A goal I have for his streaming background is that, as much as possible, I want it to feel like it's in a real place. Just doing a fancy border won't cut it. Conversely, I'm back and forth on whether I should have him holding a controller and using a drawing tablet, but for my first Live2D model ever I feel it may be a little too ambitious. I'd like to start doing streams as Aizu before the end of the year, and since I'm making the model myself I could always add those bells and whistles in later.

I've talked about Aizu a fair bit and already made him my profile picture, so I'd like to pull back the curtain a little bit to show him in action! This is from a while back so his model is in an earlier state (note the darker wings), but in broad strokes this is how Aizu will be:
