Remembrance AU: Little Brother Knows Everything
I lied. Here's a bonus chapter.
Warnings: Mention of Death ; Unrequited[?] Love ; Mention of bombs ; Jealousy
Words: 3.1k
Tommy may have been an idiot, but he wasnât stupid. He noticed the little things more often than he didnât. But there were four things he knew about you better than anyone else.
Tommy knew that you liked tea.
Siblings, and people in general, seem to have this habitual kind of indicator of their mood. Some people bounced their leg when they were nervous, others liked to twiddle their thumbs or pop joints; Itâs different for everyone.
But he could always tell how [y/n] felt by the tea they were drinking.
When they were nervous, they made tea brewed from lavender buds collected from a flower field they often visited with Technoblade or Phil. They brought Tommy once. He had run around the whole area with infinite energy before the blond climbed the tree. He had climbed higher and higher until he could feel the warmth of the setting sun shine on his face. The branch broke, but when he plummeted, he wasnât scared. They were at the bottom, waiting to catch him. They were always waiting to inevitably catch him no matter if it was from his own stupid decisions or from someone elseâs. They got nervous a lot, but when he was by their side, he could never be.
When [y/n] was stressed, they made tea out of the peppermint leaves in their garden. The scent filled their house while it brewed and the act of harvesting the herb was âsoothingâ. Tommy wasnât sure how weeding was supposed to be relaxing, but he happily did it when their newest sibling figure asked him to. He remembered pulling out a whole mint plant the first time he had worked beside them, unknowing that that was the plant he was supposed to be protecting. They had laughed, gently scolding him, before setting it aside. Even if they were stressed out, they never took it out on him.
When he was sad or upset, they made chamomile tea with honey. Chamomile is a calming flower, he remembered them saying once. And the honey helped you remember that golden days were ahead. They made it for him every morning after he would wake up in the bed he seemed to sleep in more than his own. Sometimes the honey came from Technoblade, sometimes they had retrieved it themselves from wild hives, but they always seemed to get the best stuff. Even when he cried or started to -what was the word they had used? Disassociate? That sounded correct-, he could expect the mug to be pushed into his hands, a sugary but not cloying aroma wafting off it. He always felt much better when he left. He could never remember seeing them drink the tea, despite having such an abundance of it. Did they even get sad? He had never witnessed it.
When they were happy, they made black tea of various kinds and drank sweet iced tea that reminded him of what diabetes would taste like if it were liquid. They drank this with him almost daily. It was always a new blend they wanted to try and perfect or one they wanted him to taste. He loved smelling this tea the most. When its fragrance filled the air, somehow, everything felt right in the world. He couldnât recall a single time when he didnât see them on the porch, drinking the amber liquid out of a glass when they knew heâd be coming over for dinner.
It was the days when you didnât drink tea at all, he was afraid.
Tommy knew that no matter what someone did to them, [y/n] wasnât afraid to make enemies or insert themselves between their friends and any sort of danger to protect them.
Dream was surprised to see [y/n] at the meeting between the Greater Dream SMP and LâManburg. It was only supposed to be him and George convening with Tubbo and Tommy. They held no real power in the country. They didnât belong in this meeting, just like they didnât belong in this timeline.
He watched the way they, during George and Tubboâs discussion, rested a hand on Tommyâs arm when his hands clenched hard enough to turn his knuckles white. He saw how they would murmur quietly to him and the child would relax ever so slightly. He noticed the nods they gave the blond when he looked to the adult for confirmation after he made a questionable statement. He observed your true role here.
âNice to see you replace Wilbur so quickly, Tommy. Thatâs good. He was a horrible role model for you.â His lips curled behind his mask at the shocked expression on everyone elseâs face aside from the vice president before him. His eyes were sharp, angry. âMaybe without his influence, youâll actually be a competent leader for something.â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âConsidering LâManburg was supposed to be totally destroyed and returned back to the Greater Dream SMP, Iâm glad you found someone a bit less self-destructive to help keep you under control. We all know Wilbur did a horrible job at it.â Watching the child soldier stand quickly gave him a certain satisfaction.
âFuck you, bitch! I donât need to be told what to do.â Dream watched [y/n] give Tommy a warning look and the way he ignored it.
âAnd yet you followed someone who lost his own presidential race and blew up his own country before seeking out validation from someone else.â
âI donât-â
âTommy.â He watched the blond flinch at the edge to your voice and look down at you.
âHeâs saying I-â
âIâm aware. Heâs just trying to rile you up. Itâs what he does. Ignore him.â The glare they sent him made a sharp jolt go down his spine, but he couldnât help the chuckle that spilled from his covered mouth.
âListen to your sibling, Tomathy. At least this one is sane. And if they kill themself, theyâll come back.â Tommy opened his mouth once more to say something before it snapped closed and he released a breath through his nose.
âI donât need this.â The slam of the door echoed through the now quiet room.
Dreamâs attention was immediately back on [y/n]. He watched them square their shoulders and lower their head to look him dead-on. Their glare met him with a hidden fury threatening to break forth and raise the hell that seemed to be just as deeply rooted in them as it was the company they kept. Their lips were pursed in a way that made his own grin grow larger. "Wilbur may not have been the best man. He may have hurt me and put the rest of LâManburg in this situation. But that is our business alone, and you have no right to say anything bad about him or about Tommy, for that matter."
There was a pregnant pause and he heard George start laughing awkwardly to dispel the tension before being hushed hurriedly by Tubbo.
âAnd what is it youâll do to me if I do?â Dream kept his voice level.
âYou know why Iâm here and whoâs behind me. You can use your imagination..â They stood, chair scraping against the floor loudly. âIâm going to check on Tommy.â âBut weâre not done!â They stopped at the door, hand resting on the handle.
âIâm sure you can handle the rest by yourself, Tubbo. You know what to do.â They looked at him over their shoulder, before glancing over George and then settling on the man in green. âDonât you ever speak his name ever again. Or we just might have to build that prison you mentioned. Am I understood?â Sullen nods came from the monarch and the president as they stormed out.
âWell, that was something.â
Tommy had been sitting in the hallway, curled in on himself the same way he had been after the Pit incident.
âToms?â
âWhy is he even here?â
You sat next to him, back resting against the wall.
âBecause he cares about George. Kinda like why I was in there for you.â You felt the taller lean against you and relax when you wrapped your arm around him. âIâll always be here for you, Kiddo.â
You felt him nod and you pressed a kiss to his hair.
âYou know Iâm not trying to replace Wilbur, right?â
âOf course not. We were like brothers.â His lips quirked a little when he heard your laugh.
âIf he were here, Iâm sure heâd tell you not to say that or heâd cry.â
âGood. Fucking bitch.â
He didnât know what heâd do if you never came back.
Tommy knew that the only other person who loved you as much as he did was Technoblade.
Techno had never felt jealous of Tommy before. Or really anyone. He was pretty secure in his position as your best friend, and the vast amounts of platonic affection you showered him with kept him content. Even during the Pogtopia rebellion, watching the looks and touches Wilbur gave you or seeing the child sneak into your bed for another night in a row didnât make him jealous. So why did he suddenly have the very real impulse to shove the blond off the side off a cliff just to retake some of your attention?
The hybrid watched you talk with your hands as you recounted the night before and your surprise at finding Tommy already there when you came home from Philâs. He was happy he had been right. You and Philza were similar in many ways and got along well. You would constantly joke with Techno that you were trying to get yourself adopted by the older blond and he would just respond with an amused âdonât tempt him, he might.â. You would always laugh in response.
That was always the best sound.
He listened to your words as he topped off the teacup in front of you with more of the red-tinted liquid. The warm scent of earl grey and roses wafted off of the cup tinged with the subtle tang of the orange peel he had added on a whim. You were right in your suggestion. Citrus always makes deeper teas better.
âIf itâs really that bad, the offer to move in still stands. I have more than enough room and you can escape that raccoon.â He snickered at the pout that rested on your lips.
âI never said that I didnât like it! And donât call Tommy a raccoon.â He sipped his own tea.
âItâs true. Gets into trash, beady little eyes, a nuisance. He even breaks into your house.â
âHe has a key, Tech. Itâs different.â You had rolled your eyes at him, but the smile on your face spoke of your fondness for them both. He felt the small well of jealousy in his chest flare. Did Tommy know how privileged he was? He hoped the child knew.
âIâm just sayinâ. Whenever you want to leave that place, my door will always be open for you.â He watched your smile soften and the firm squeeze when you reached across the table for his forearm.
âI appreciate it, but Tommy needs me still. Maybe one day, okay?â He grunted at you and you giggled. âWho knows, maybe Phil will come with! He could build his own little cabin and everything.â
âIâve already extended the offer to him as well. He said heâll think about it.â You shook your head.
âHeâs probably trying to figure out how close to the meadow heâd be in comparison.â
âMan loves the flowers, what can he say?â
âSure, itâs definitely the flowers.â You sipped your tea with a knowing grin.
âWhat else would it be?â He watched the glint in your eyes, seeing exactly what Tommy had always said about you. They had seemed a lot deeper lately, more knowledgeable. The child had always claimed that you spoke like you knew more than you let on and he saw it in your smile sometimes, but the look you were giving him right at that moment confirmed it.
âMaybe itâs all the memories.â
He couldn't imagine you not returning the feelings they both held for you, despite the vast difference.
Tommy knew that you wouldnât hide anything from him unless it was absolutely imperative.
He found you sitting in the living room, curled into an old recliner that you would never tell him where it came from. You felt Tommy haphazardly throw his arms around your shoulders from behind, releasing a small sigh of contentment as he pressed his face further into your neck.
"Hey, Kiddo, whatâre you up to?" His grip on you slackened, and you could almost feel his face draw up to a small pout. He absolutely hated that nickname but couldnât deny the small warmth that flared in his stomach whenever you called him it.
"[Y/n], how many times have I asked you to stop calling me that?" He removed himself from you when you shrugged your shoulders.
"Sorry, Toms, the nickname stays. You're too much of a brat for it to leave." He groaned, eyebrows drawing together. You knew he wasnât entirely mad at the name. He wouldnât have whined the way he did if he truly wanted you to stop. You and Tommy seemed to share a wavelength. It wasnât the same one you shared with Techno, but it was just as perfect. You wished you could tell him why it was.
The realization set a rock that started in your throat and slowly started to sink to your stomach. It spread through you, causing a wet hot sensation to form behind your eyes. Youâd never be able to tell your little brother your deepest secret. What if he hated you? What if he told everyone else and they cast you out? What if he felt he couldnât trust you anymore?
Carefully pulling yourself out of your own thoughts, you looked up at the child. âIâm sorry, what was it you wanted?â
"Can I talk to you?" Your eyes flicked to the book you were reading before back to him. You knew what he wanted. A bookmark was wedged between pages and the room was silent before you stood. "Sure, kiddo. Is it going to be a long chat?" You set off to the kitchen, soon pouring some water into an old kettle that Phil had given you the day that you had awoken. You had been âgoneâ for over a full day. Aside from Phil, no one else knew what had happened and where you went.
An opaque jar was pulled from the cupboard, carefully opened, and he watched as purple buds, green leaves, and yellow-white flowers were deposited gently onto the mesh cloth that you would tie into a sachet. He had never seen them combine those teas. He didnât even realize you had such a large jar of it stored.
âWhat happened at Philâs?â You hesitated before steadying your hand and pouring the steaming water into a teapot before setting the sachet in. It floated for a moment before you used the string to dunk the bag a few times to soak it before it sank midway.
You only pulled one mug down.
You gestured for him to sit at the table and he took it. You could see the way his anxiety rose even higher when you didnât sit across from him.
âWhat day? Iâve been at Philâs a lot lately.â
âOh fuck off. You know what day Iâm talking about.â You shrugged, trying to keep your expression even.
âI really donât, Tommy. Youâre going to have to narrow it down for me.â Your fight or flight instincts were dialed to high when he gave you a knowing look.
âYou donât have to lie to me, [y/n]. Iâm not a child.â
âYes, you are, and Iâm not lying.â You flinched when he slammed his hands on the table, chair screeching as it was slid back with too much force before it fell backwards.
âThen why have you changed?â You froze. âYou used to love spending time with me before-â
You wanted to reach out, to comfort him, when you saw his lips quiver, but he turned his head away from you. He couldnât look you in the eye.
âBefore you were gone for almost two days and came back wrong. You donât talk like how you used to either. Itâs like you know things, but like, more than you used to. And come to find out from Ranboob, you had gone to Philzaâs house. What did he tell you?â
You just shook your head, wanting to tell him you remembered him. You remembered every timeline he was in. Every moment he had fought for what he believed in and won. Every time he had died. Every timeline he could have died.
âDid I do something? Is it because of Ghostbur? Do you-â He looked back up at you, looking exactly like the sixteen year old he was supposed to be. âDo you hate me?â
âOf course not, Tommy. Why in the world would you ever think that?â
âThen why wonât you tell me whatâs going on? Siblings donât keep secrets.â
âThey do when theyâre trying to protect the ones they love, Tommy.â You watched his face grow red in frustration.
âYouâre not always gonna be there for me, [y/n]!â
âYou donât know that.â
âWhy wonât you just tell me?â His voice broke, and so did your heart.
âBecause youâre still just a kid, Tommy. And I think sometimes you forget that. And everyone else too. And I canât tell anyone what happened.â
âBut why? I stopped being a child when we won our first war. I should be able to hear about this!â
âBecause the things I saw, the things I heard, no one else should have to bear this weight.â You swallowed back your tears. This was no time to cry. âYou can be mad at me all you want, Tommy. But Iâm still the same [y/n] who tucks you into bed and links pinkies with you on the Prime Path and who will always be there for you.â
The hurt look he gave you would haunt you for the rest of your lifetimes.
âThen why wonât you let me be there for you?â You could only shake your head.
âBecause thatâs not how it works, Kiddo.â Tommyâs eyes hardened and he sucked in a quivering breath.
âFine.â He started walking back towards the door.
âToms, where are you going?â He didnât answer you.
His tea was bitter and cold by now, and for a moment, he couldnât help but feel the same.
Tommy knew all those things about you. So why did it feel like maybe he didnât know you at all?

Gregory and Glamrock Freddy getting some unique help
Five Nights At Freddy's. A series that I never played but observed through playthroughs and theories by MatPat. I honestly didn't see the games getting my attention until Security Breach. Maybe it's the added bonus of a concrete story and interesting characters that might get me to buy it. Anywho... Can be read as gender neutral or preferred gender. Your role will be maintenance but your secret role shall vary in any further instances. Contains spoilers for Security Breach. Enjoy!
Working at the Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex wasn't something you expected of doing. Yet here you been for a few months.
If your friends from your last job saw you, they'd get a kick out of it. No doubt bringing it up at the upcoming reunion over a cup of Gray Earl tea.
The pay was good and surprisingly all the animatronics liked you. All of their responses being so humanlike that you were amazed yet equally concerned.
Fazbear Entertainment had an infamous reputation that they prefer covering up than taking responsibility. They suck at hiding information from you more than keeping their old businesses alive.
Anyway, you knew all the animatronics normal behavior from the Glamrocks, both sides of the Daycare Attendant and DJ Musicman. So when Glamrock Bonnie suspiciously got trashed, you knew something was up.
Those suspicions only growing from the humanlike robots acting odd and sudden children disappearances until Freddy crashed one day on STAGE.
You were close friends with Freddy and had been there to help him emotionally when Bonnie got destroyed. So seeing the bear go down like that on stage was a horrible flashback in your mind.
Now what you didn't expect is to find Freddy with a little boy in First Aid. Said boy or Gregory got defensive until you managed to persuade him and the bear vouching for you.
In fact, Freddy was confused about why you were still here. A moment that had your friend just as shocked as you were. Chica bugged out and attacked you.
Explaining to the two that you discovered some sort of malicious virus on everyone's hardware. Something that made the other animatronics deadly and Freddy to glitch.
The bear was only safe as the animatronics recognize each other as 'Friendlies'. Anyone else was prey like you or Gregory.
Freddy became understandably upset until you explained that you could get rid of the code. You weren't the best tech wiz at your old job for nothing.
There were four things required: the data found in Princess Quest games, the strange upgrades given to Chica, Monty and Roxy and a Level 10 security pass.
The fourth was for last as it came from the code's source. And that meant finding the true culprit. As much as you hated it, Gregory would be safer with the both of you than outside the Pizzaplex right now.
So a system was made. Freddy and you would take turns helping the boy. If something happened to both of you, you gave Gregory something he could you as a last resort. Your old service pistol.
Under a serious promise, the boy promised to not use that pistol unless as a last resort. You did upgrade his Faz-cam and Faz-blaster so he had a better chance against the Animatronics.
You did apologize to Freddy and to the respective Glamrock that had their upgrade recently taken. Hurting them absolutely sucked and you were going to tear the w*nker responsible for this chaos apart.
Apparently even Vanessa was a victim to this as well. You had gotten attacked by psycho bunny mascot and aptly disarm and knocked them out. The person being the nightguard who also had a connection to the mysterious Princess Quest games that appeared one day.
Once Gregory gotten the data and Vanessa woke up, she came back to her senses alongside the service bots. After explaining what's going on, you requested her, Freddy and Gregory's assistance.
A temporary antivirus had been made to push back the malevolent code. Something that needed to be administrated to all the animatronics. Then all of them needed to get out of the building so the source could be taken out before it tries to regain control.
It was the final showdown and much to your surprise, both Gregory and Freddy were determined to see this through with you. Vanessa would keep the other animatronics and Glamrocks safe.
Below the Pizzaplex was the culprit and skeletons of Fazbear Entertainment. An bloblike amalgamation of the various Animatronics from the old diners and Pizzerias. Alongside the killer of all those children, a machine like corpse dressed as the rumored 'Spring Bonnie'. Springtrap or Burntrap to put it aptly.
And the bastard had the missing parts of Glamrock Bonnie. Consider yourself thoroughly pissed off. If you were any normal person, then you would've played the game of 'Hide and Burn the Rabbit'.
But you? You were 'Merlin', Legendary Tech Support and former member of the Kingsman Secret Service. You were 'On Leave' to find yourself after a great disaster in the agency, that didn't mean you wouldn't fight.
With some help from Freddy and Gregory, you manage to upgrade those various incinerators with enough power to match high grade lasers and a remote self destruct that would burn everything to ash.
Once the three of you got out of the Pizzaplex and the 'Blob' had Burntrap in its grasp, you lit the entire building skyhigh. Leaving nothing but a crater behind.
Before heading back to England for your workplace reunion, you manage to snag somethings.
This was how you, Gregory, Vanessa, Freddy, Monty, Chica, Roxy, DJ Musicman and the Daycare Attendant ended up partying at the Kingsman Reunion together with your coworkers alongside a repaired Glamrock Bonnie but also Glamrock Foxy. Fazbear Entertainment finally getting exposed all the way to rock bottom bankruptcy. Justice had been rightfully deserved.
I saw Kingsman the other day and this has been running through my head since. Just know that these are going to end with Fazbear Entertainment getting screwed with everyone else minus Burntrap have a good ending.
Will there more of these? Probably but your secret role will VARY in all sorts of ways. From reasonable at best to downright insanity. If I do a continuation of a part, I'll list it down as such.
Have a good day folks!

The Advertiser (A City of Mammon story)
Thursday, June 8th, 3358
I finally have a job! It pays really well, and the hours are super generous. Iâm an undercover advertiser! From 10 to 1 on weekdays a marketing AI or my human manager takes control of my mind and body and uses me to advertise for various companies. My contract prevents me from telling anyone about it, so Iâm writing about it in my journal.
Friday, June 9th, 3358
Itâs a little scary. I black out at 10 AM and I come to 3 hours later in a different location. Itâs worth it though. Iâve never had so much money! Ever since the Free Will Law was passed in 3352, forcing companies to double the salary for jobs that require the employee to sacrifice their free will, Iâve been dreaming of getting a job like this. Itâs one of the highest-paying jobs available to Middle Marketers!
Monday, June 12th, 3358
I think I dream while Iâm being piloted. I donât remember the dreams, though. But thereâs some semblance of memories.
Tuesday, June 13th, 3358
I got a bonus! People Iâve interacted with on the job have been purchasing the products Iâve recommended them. Just once, Iâd like to be able to see what goes on. Do I still act like myself? Are the ads subtle or do I just scream about my favorite brand of toothpaste? I might put up some cameras.
Wednesday, June 14th, 3358
THAT IS NOT ME. Do you know how creepy it is to see yourself moving in a way you never would? Iâm not a graceful person, but whatever is controlling me does so with fluid precision. I only put up a camera in my house, so I donât know anything else about the job. Iâm going to spread my surveillance network further out.
Thursday, June 15th, 3358
Iâm getting tired of taking taxis back home. The fees are racking up. Today I wound up halfway across the city. I suppose they donât want me interacting with people who know me. They might recognize that it isnât me. Iâll be putting cameras up in my neighborhood this weekend.
Friday, June 16th, 3358
I think I had another dream. I donât know where my mind goes when I get taken over, but I remember feeling something. The AI seems to know my body better than I do. Everything it does looks so smooth and polished. It knows where my limbs end. I could never imagine it stubbing my toe or hurting me in any way. Its control makes me feel safe, but Iâm also jealous that itâs using my body better than I ever could.
Monday, June 19th, 3358
I got my cameras set up. They cover a few blocks. Today they picked up something⊠unnerving. Today, whoever was piloting me was most certainly not the AI. They were clumsy and didnât seem to understand the dimensions of my body, but they moved with so much purpose. They stalked to the door and waited impatiently for a taxi, got in as quickly as possible, and sped off. When I came to, I was unharmed, and didnât notice that anything was different until I watched the video.
Tuesday, June 20th, 3358
The AI was back today. I donât know what yesterday was. Iâm confused. The pay is still excellent, Iâm still unharmed. I guess my manager must have stepped in yesterday, though why they did I donât know.
Wednesday, June 21st, 3358
Today was unsettling for two reasons. My manager took control again, and I had a nightmare. Itâs weird seeing my unconscious body which Iâve gotten so used to being graceful and calm being almost angry instead. But nothing bad has happened yet, other than the nightmare. I felt the familiar symptoms of the blackout coming on, the fuzzy vision and the mild headache, and the next thing I knew I was falling. I landed in a pool of blood, hot and red and sticky and tasting of iron. It was just deep enough that I couldnât quite keep my mouth above the surface. I tried to scream but the blood flooded into my mouth, choking my cries before they could make it out.
Thursday, June 22nd, 3358
I need to spread my cameras further. My manager took control of me again. Thereâs something about the way I move when theyâre in control that scares me. Too much confidence and too much anger.
Friday, June 23rd, 3358
Today my manager took the stairs. They took me outside and up to the next floor, maybe higher. My cameras are focused on the ways the taxis tend to go. I hadnât considered that I might walk somewhere. I know everyone in the building. Surely they would notice that somethingâs wrong.
Monday, June 26th, 3358
I put up more cameras. I donât think my manager is advertising. Theyâre going up and down the building. They arenât going to anyone I donât already know. Thereâs no way they could mimic me well enough to not give themselves away. They clearly arenât trying to sell anything. The nightmares are getting worse.
Tuesday, June 27th, 3358
I got another bonus. I donât think Iâve sold anything in a week. I can afford more cameras. At this point I could start my own security firm. I havenât been controlled by the AI in a long time. I miss it.
Wednesday, June 28th, 3358
Someone put up missing person flyers throughout the building. Mr. Sharpe hasnât been seen for a few days. There were signs of a struggle, blood in his apartment. The day they think he went missing I had a nightmare. I dreamt I saw his face. It was awful. By Mammon it was awful. His teeth were ripped out, his nose was cut off, and there were scissors in my hands. Iâm beginning to worry that I had something to do with it.
Thursday, June 29th, 3358
If you were a serial killer who could kill through other people wouldnât you do it?
Friday, June 30th, 3358
Fuck. Iâve slept on it, and I think my manager is killing people through my body. Iâm going to get to the bottom of this. I will continue writing in this journal until this problem has been concluded. Should the writing in this journal end before we have reached a satisfying end, it is likely that I myself have been killed.
Monday, July 3rd, 3358
I called my employer to ask who my manager is. They said they werenât at liberty to tell me. I had another nightmare, this time about Ms. Hathaway. I wonât be surprised if flyers bearing her face are up tomorrow.
Tuesday, July 4th, 3358
Happy Dollar Day! The flyers went up. I donât know if thereâs anything I can do. My manager has been doing a good job sneaking around so far. The security drones still arenât looking for me. Iâm worried itâs only a matter of time. I need to find my manager, and soon.
Wednesday, July 5th, 3358
Another nightmare. I might as well report Ms. DiAngeloâs disappearance myself. I can only assume that if her body is found, it will have been brutalized with a hammer. Thatâs what happened in my dream. I feel like Iâm stuck watching myself commit atrocities from the outside.
Thursday, July 6th, 3358
Upon further examination, thereâs blood under my nails. Iâm a weapon for my manager. Theyâre using me to kill people, and if I get caught theyâll move on to another undercover advertiser. They might be using multiple people at once.
Friday, July 7th, 3358
I want to quit, but I canât. Quitting wonât stop my manager. Theyâll keep on killing unless I stop them. Iâm the only person who can do anything. I donât know how much blood is on my hands. Theyâve been used to kill at least three people, but there could be more. I may not be the mind behind the killing but Iâm guilty enough. Itâs my responsibility to end this.
Monday, July 10th, 3358
Normally I write following my shift, but as soon as it ends Iâm heading to the company headquarters. Iâm bringing a gun. This ends today. Iâll write another entry when I get back to provide closure, and then Iâd like to put this journal and this grisly business behind me.

synopsis: im changkyun is a prime sex worker at a local club. nothing gets his pride swelling more than any poser off the street willing to come into his club and pin bills between the elastic of his fishnets and skin. what he finds more exhilarating than any show, pole climb or heated one-night stand, however; is the one sober woman sitting among her group of wasted friends in a velvet, vip booth. heâll do anything to know everything about her; putting on a friendly smile was only the first step.Â
a/n: you can blame DAZED for this mess (hi, just in case you need a reminder, this is purely fiction and not at all who changkyun rly is as a person. nothing about this is okay in irl)Â
This was nothing new. This was just the way his life always played out. An exhilarating erotic number on a stage with a pole, fishnets and teasing personality followed by the highest bidder to continue his line of work in a more secluded section of the club.Â
Fantasia Dyed may have been a newer club against its competitors that have been around for years, but the workers and staff inside raised the bar previously set. While clubs can be shady to begin with, what with the use of alcohol at every turn, murmurs of drugs, and agreements to met up for a quick money job- Fantasia Dyed had a reputation of the best line of sex workers you could get your dirty hands on. If you had the money, that was.Â
Im Changkyun was the front man of that line up. Wanted by men, women and anyone in between- if you had the cash he demanded for his services, he was yours for the night. He had no qualm so long as you paid and used the protection he required to keep your own STIs to your damn self. He really wasnât picky, and he never stopped to ask himself as to why. Â
So, this- crawling out of some random womanâs creaky, box spring bed and pulling on the clothes he had lost earlier- was nothing new. He looked over his shoulder as he ran his black painted fingers through his blond hair. Â
The woman was passed out, a fuzzy, brown blanket covering her body as Changkyun turned away from her. Throwing his shirt back on, flinging his jacket over his shoulders and thrusting his arms through the sleeves, he shimmied on his black skinnies and boots. Grabbing his abandoned black, clutch bag from the stranger's couch he unclasped it to look at the envelope of bills he had received just hours earlier from his âclientâ. Â
Throwing himself on the couch, he crossed his legs and counted the bills, smirking when he was adamant he was paid in full- with even a small service tip he assumed- to cover over his asking price for the night. Satisfied, he got up and left that small apartment he had stumbled into.Â
It was only when he entered his own home- the top floor penthouse of some wealthy building- did he wonder just for the briefest of moments if he was truly satisfied.Â

âY/n, if you don't come with me to Fantasia like you promised you would 2 years ago when it opened now that I finally have the money and the chance for my birthday, youâre being grounded.âÂ
You, who was busy replacing books that you had been wheeling around on your return cart back on the shelf, had the lovely company of your best friend sitting behind you at a library table as you worked. Sheâd been going on and on about her birthday plans and while you were happy she was excited about them, she was adamant on adding you to the attendee list. Â
Maybe it was cliche, but the oh-so-thrilling life you lived as a librarian of your local public library painted a rather âstay at homeâ picture of you; and that is exactly how you wanted it. The whole reason you took this job opportunity was because the head librarian noticed you come in every other Wednesday for a new list of to-reads to rent and offered a position after she got to know you a bit better. Â
Had you had the choice, youâd stay cooped up in your house with a good book, a nice warm drink, a rainy day and peace and quiet for the rest of your life. But, of course, that was a fantasy. Your social life was barely breathing, with Halie-the insistent best friend behind you- being the center of your social solar system. Â
You were a prime recluse, you didnât even keep in touch with your parents as often as you should since they were so utterly upset you were throwing so much âpotentialâ away when you decided to be a librarian instead of going into some out of this world career field.Â
You had Halie and Halie had connections with just about everyone ever. She was easy to adapt to personalities and was generally kind to anyone she meets unless theyâre rude first. She was a prime example of a modern âdream girlâ that people had. Though, she was still your friend no matter who she is with anyone else. Â
Was that naive of you?Â
âY/n, Iâm telling you, youâve gotta cooooome,â she whined. Sitting backward in her chair, leaning back and pulling on the back of the chair. You sighed, pushing a spine of a book into its rightful you had just mapped out. âPlease,â she begged in a pathetically, high pitched voice.Â
âIf I go, will you stop whining?â You asked with your back still towards her, but you could practically see the smile on her face with the small, over-dramatic gasp she let out. You almost immediately regretted your choice, and wished you could take it back. You knew Halie wouldnât let it happen though. Youâve spoken and now her selective hearing will kick on and she wouldnât hear you even if you changed your mind. Â
âSo, youâre going?!â She screeched as you turned around and shushed her. She was in a library. With a few more accepting statements from you solidifying your attendance to her birthday, she left happily as you finished stocking your shelves in dread before sitting behind your check-out counter with the same dread- only 10x stronger.Â
You watched the time tick by on the computer screen at work, the watch around your wrist on the way home, the hanging clock on your living room wall and the alarm you set on your phone for 9 pm when you were set to get ready. Time passed far too fast for your liking- you couldnât even squeeze in a nap to help the nerves.Â
Before you knew it, you were walking out of your home, locking the door behind you with the only acceptable club outfit you could think of as you made your way to Fantasia Dyed, texting Halie that you were dreadfully on the way.Â

âHey, Kyun! Take ten, dude!â Changkyun, who had just stepped down off of the high perched stage covered in sweat ruffled his blond hair that clung to his forehead in strands. He nodded as he grabbed his bottle of water, slouching in a nearby domed-stool. Â
One of his ankle high, black platform boots propped up on the stoolâs ring with the other on the ground. The white tank top he had personally cut off to end at his rib cage and expose his stomach drenched in spots of sweat. Black skinnies clinging to his toned legs and his fishnets showing loud and proud through the open knees of his jeans and wrapping around the perfection of his waist. Having left his faux fur coat in the employee lounge for the night. Â
His dark eyes scanned the floor level he was currently occupying the best he could from his seat at the juice bar- for the lameizoids who wanted something non-alcoholic at his club. He glanced at the wristwatch strapped onto the inside of his wrist and checked the time. It was only just past 10 as he smirked. Â
The night was still young. Â
From not too far off in a different area than he was, he heard a small commotion starting to murmur. From the looks of what he could see over his sips of water and his bangs hanging in his eyes as he flipped them annoyingly out of his way over and over, it may have been someoneâs birthday. Guest after guest going into the same area with the same woman in stockings and a cocktail dress hugging and greeting them. Â
A VIP birthday reservation; that did ring a small bell somewhere in the overbooked mind of the club worker. Perhaps it would pay off if he did some of his work within their sights. Birthday crowds almost always paid off in terms of after work lip service and bonus pay. Â
Stepping his foot off the lower ring of the stool he had been comfortably sitting on, he stood as he set his bottle on the juice bar. The tender at the particular unpopular drink selection area took it and tucked it away under the bar where Changkyun always asked him to put it so no one tried to get creative with it. Â
Walking around the venue area, he strutted by the lower ground VIP booth surrounded by thick, velvet ropes. Whoever this birthday diva was, she sure went all out to keep her and her group uninterrupted. A lower level 10 person booth, a table full of booze and a secure perimeter to keep outsiders rightfully out of her hair. Just from the set up, she mustâve been some spoiled princess.
However, what really caught his gaze was one particular woman. A woman dressed in a tank top, a cheap looking fake leather jacket and dark jeans. Perhaps not ideal for Fantasiaâs club etiquette and whatever she was sipping on in her clear glass certainly didnât seem like any alcoholic beverage to his trained eye. His pierced brow ticked up as he walked fully by and the table of rambunctious party-goers left his sight around the wall. Â
âMust be a prude,â he murmured but somehow, he almost felt guilty when the words left his mouth. He couldnât fathom at all why. It stalled him physically as he stopped in his tracks for just a moment before strutting further away from the booth to scope out a good area to work his magic. Â
The moment midnight hit Changkyun was being flagged over by the absolutely smashed table he had passed earlier that night. The VIP birthday booth had confidently called him over. As he moseyed his way over, with a few of his coworkers already there to entertain the group, he was greeted by some drunken man hanging off his shoulder.Â
Among the group of drunk or passed out party goers, there was the same woman from earlier who still seemed completely sober. Changkyun raised his eyebrow as he shook the man on his shoulder off as he stumbled around and clung to the next nearest bod. He walked over to your side and sat himself down beside you on the velvet booth. Â
Crossing his legs, he watched you flinch when he plopped himself down, his elbows rising to rest on the back of the booth, his hand hovering close to your face. He sure made himself comfortable. He had to admit though, as you sipped on yet another refill of something nonalcoholic, you were pretty easy going on the eyes.Â
âYou sure donât seem like youâre having any fun, lady,â he chided as he lifted one arm off the back of the booth to push his hair back out of his eyes for only the millionth time that evening. He heard you nervously chuckle beside him and something about the sound of it stirred pleasantly in his chest.Â
âWell, this isnât exactly my scene,â you told him. Your voice was soft like Christmas bells, but it erupted in his ears, making the background of sounds and voices and bass all drown out. He was solely focused on your lips and the sound they produced when you spoke he couldnât hear anything else. Â
âNot your scene, but here you sit in mine,â he teased as he smirked at you. You tapped the side of your glass that had become a slipping hazard from itâs condensation. Changkyun looked at the friends around you who seemed to be having the time of their young lives. âYouâre friends seem to be enjoying themselves.âÂ
âWell, they go out a lot. I really donât like these kinds of places,â you told him before you looked at him with a slightly apologetic smile. âNo offense.â Â
âClub scenes arenât for everyone, I understand that. If you hate it so much, why did you come here?â He asked as you sighed, dipping your chin. He felt a small spark of panic rise in his throat as he saw you suddenly even more forlorn than you have been. Did he put that look on your face by asking your dumb questions?Â
He mentally halted himself, once again wondering why it affected him so much what you did and did not like or how you acted. Â
âItâs my best friendâs birthday so she pretty much begged me to come with her tonight,â you lifted your head and looked over to where she was, downing yet another shot. Youâd have to remember to book a cab for her to go home- if she doesnât go home with the staff member she keeps clinging to. âI probably wonât stay much longer since she pretty much forgot Iâm even here,â you pouted. Â
Changkyunâs eyes swelled at the precious pout to your lips as you whined about being forgotten because you were sober and werenât partying like an animal. What was wrong with him?Â
âDo you like coffee?â He suddenly blurted out. He couldnât stop the words from forcing their way out of his mouth before his brain could functionally filter them or even stop them. He gulped when you turned to look at him in the eyes for the first time that night. Maybe it was the neon lights in the club or maybe it was the dim atmosphere that made them so enticing to gaze into, but he was locked in your gaze- unable to break away from you. His jaw nearly dropped open as he explored the color of them surrounded by the club's aura. Â
âCoffee?â You asked in clarification. He just clamped his teeth together before nodding once. âWell, Iâm not the biggest coffee fan in the world, but I like teasâ and I can handle a frappe if Iâm in the mood for it.âÂ
âI get off at three,â he told you as he desperately tried to keep eye contact. âIf you find the stomach to hang around another three hours, we can get some?â He pitched as his voice that was normally always confident- as it should be for his line of grade-a work- shook just slightly with the booming club bass.Â
Your eyes shifted when he put the offer out there, and he started to internally panic. Would you say no? Would you politely decline him and try and carry on like he never said a word? Or would you turn him down and leave? Then, it hit him. You were in a club; a club popular for sex work and Changkyun happened to lead that gaggle of workers. Itâs pretty damn obvious you were assuming he had some ulterior motive. For once, he didnât.Â
He dropped his elbow from the back of the booth as he turned towards you slightly, scooting forward to the edge of the booth seat. Â
âI donât mean to hook up or anything,â he clarified, âI just want to get to you know, so I wanted to get coffee at an ungodly hour.â The hands he waved around to try and help convince you quickly settled onto his jean torn, and fishnet covered lap. âIf you want to.âÂ
You sat and considered his offer. It was Saturday, and the library was closed on Sundays so you could technically afford to be out later than you typically would. And a late night chat with someone other than your wasted party of friends did sound tempting. He seemed kind enough, even with his get up and the flashes of a performance you had glimpsed earlier with him on the lifted stage and poles. You should never judge a book by itâs cover, just because he seemed like someone who slept around all the time, didnât mean he was a bad guy, right? Â
You smiled at him and his breath left him in one fell swoop. It was like your smile materialized into a pro-boxer and just gut punched him. And he loved it. Â
âA three am frappe sounds great,â you told him. He smiled back wider than he knew he could. He thanked you before he excused himself to go back to work. However, before he went back to the floor, he practically sprinted into the single employee bathroom and locked himself inside.Â
He slammed his back against the door as his knees wobbled and he grew weaker. His breath was staggered as his chest heaved in unsteady shudders. His fingertips shook and he had shivers running up his back from the memory of your eyes and that smile. He started chuckling to himself in the empty bathroom as he felt his cheeks flush. Â
God he felt so euphoric in the moment, it was practically erotic. Whatever was wrong with him, he started questioning if it was really wrong if it made him feel so good.Â
-x-x-x-
It was ten till three in the morning when Changkyun did one last check to make sure you hadnât left yet. Almost your whole party was passed out, had gone home by cab or with someone else at this point. The club was nearly ready to shut down for the night as they started to chase people out. You saw him peek around into the VIP booth area as you smiled and waved to him reassuringly. That same tightness coiled in his chest as he rushed to the employee locker room.Â
A fellow pole dancer who was peeling off his skintight, laced finger-less gloves perked an eyebrow up at the rushing blond. He hadnât seen the worker so eager to get out of there before.Â
âSome kind of big surprise waiting for you outside those doors or something, hot stuff?â He asked. Changkyun shook his head, too busy searching for his clutch behind his fur coat so he could meet up with you. Yanking on the furry sleeves that felt almost too warm all of a sudden, he snatched the no longer hidden clutch from his locker shelf and slammed it shut. Â
âSomething better,â he breathed in promise to himself more than his coworker as he jogged out, his long coat bouncing off the back of his knees. He came out of the room, seeing you standing and in the company of a different worker who was still relatively new to Fantasia Dyed. A rookie at best and his eyes hardened as the man spoke to you.Â
Leaning far too close to you, breathing too close to you and smiling far too seductively at you. He was clearly looking for a bed to crash in, but Changkyun hated it. Loathed it even as he felt his lips pull back in a grimace mimicking a defensive mutt. He stomped towards you and inserted himself between the nuisance and yourself.Â
Pushing his palms against the workerâs chest, he harshly shoved him backwards and took a few steps back himself towards you. He felt like he was on fire, feeling you standing directly behind him. He thought he could feel your warmth radiating onto his back like sun rays and it almost made him sweat. He felt torn between feeling ecstatic that you were so close to him or completely pissed off at the man who stood shell shocked after being pushed away. Â
âSheâs taken already,â Changkyun growled. He shocked even himself with his tone, something coiling further and beating in his chest so violently he swore he felt his chest jerk forward with each beat of his heart.Â
The coworker raised his hands. âChill out, man. âDidnât know she was yours.â Something ignited the coil in Changkyunâs chest and sent sparks in his mind at the man's words. His? Yes⊠that sounds exactly right.Â
It sounded blissfully perfect as the man walked off and the blond turned around to see you and properly escort you out of Fantasia Dyed. He watched your back as you left in front of him- ladies first- and he let a grin crawl across his face. Unaware of how his eyes looked as they burned into the silhouette of your body. Â
His.Â
Changkyun led you out of the club, but neither of you expected it to be raining at three oâclock in the morning. You gasped as you instinctively brought your hands up above your head. You were wearing makeup and if it got wet, it was all over. Changkyun was quick to rip the coat from his shoulders and sling it around you. It had no hood, but he placed the collar of it above your head as you grabbed the edges of it to pull it around your body. Â
He nearly gasped when his finger brushed your hand, handing off his coat before he was pulling his keys from his clutch and pushing buttons to unlock his car that was parked just around the corner on the side of the building. He reached around your shoulder and started directing you in the rain. Â
It was only when he sat you in his car, nice and dry, when he ran to get into the drivers sid, slam the door shut, start the car and crank the heat to get rid of the wet shivers you had due to the rain, did he realize he had just touched you again. Although his coat was under his arm, so were you as you ran through the rain. He had to contain yet another delightful shiver.Â
You shimmied the coat off your head to around your shoulders before you pulled it out from behind you and placed it on your lap as you pulled the seatbelt across your chest. You looked at Changkyun who was already looking at you, but flinched and started fidgeting with his wheel and knobs for the radio in his car to distract himself.Â
âI didnât realize there was rain in the forecast this morning. I wouldnâve have brought an umbrella.â You briefly blessed the idea that Changkyun asked you out because you had taken the bus and walked the rest of the trip to Fantasia, so getting home would have been a long walk considering the buses donât run at three freakinâ am.Â
Changkyun cleared his throat, whipping his blond, wet bangs out of his face and onto the top of his head, clearing his forehead as he shifted out of park.Â
âSo,â he started, âwhere do you want to go?â You tossed ideas around in your head and it was so early, hardly any place would be open except the occasional fast food place or gas station. Offering him the choice between an open, probably dead lobby for some fast food or grabbing a drink and hanging in the car in the rain, he was driving off to the closest food location. Â
As nice as it sounded being secluded in a car with coffee and the sound of rain, he wouldn't be able to look you in the eyes as you spoke as well.Â
Changkyun took you to the place he would often stop for some after work food before going home or meeting up with someone. Because he knew the manager so well (and because the manager was always in store by three to start preparing for the staff to come in at six) Changkyun was allowed an early entrance.Â
Even though you offered to get your own drink, Changkyun wasnât allowing you to pay for anything since it was him who asked you out. Besides, it wasnât exactly expensive to buy some caffeinated drinks- especially since he got a special discount too. The manager who always got him his food or drinks ready at this hour was shocked to see him with company this time around.Â
Time seemed to become truly nonexistent to Changkyun as soon as the both of you sat down at a back corner table- away from anyone's eyes from outside as to not cause the manager grief if someone should come demanding entrance because Changkyun was inside. You both talked about anything and everything he could think to ask you to get to know you better. Â
He learned that you were a librarian and that you didnât go to school- forgetting about any further education after high school because you werenât sure what you really wanted to do with your life. He found out bits and pieces about your family situations- gathering that you werenât close and that you had no siblings to speak of. Your friends were small in number and that you werenât really close to anyone aside from Halie- the proffered birthday girl at the club.Â
He mentally thanked Halie for begging you to come to the club, considering if you hadnât Changkyun would have never laid eyes on you.Â
In turn, he shared what he could in return for your stories. He had been working in the sex world for a few years now, quickly and unfortunately getting roped into it after a nasty breakup when he had just turned 21. When he realized just how desirable he could be, he started working out and eating better to keep his physique so business kept rolling in for him. He was actually scouted by the assistant manager of Fantasia Dyed to work there- but it was the pay and benefits that really dragged him in. He didnât dislike his career, so he had no reason to say no anyways. Â
At least with Fantasia Dyed, he had benefits to get himself into the doctor if one of his clients ever lied and gave him some gross sex disease- then of course heâd sue them into the ground for not following his work guidelines. He told you about why he pierced his eyebrow and even the stories behind the tattoos on his back.Â
Oddly enough, despite your absolute opposite backgrounds, you both spoke and got alone brilliantly. It was a balance of lifestyles and Changkyun basked in everything you had to say. You didnât shun him or sneer at his life as a sex worker and maybe it was the lack of disgust and prejudiced that really flipped something in his head. Â
You did not judge him. You did not hate him. You laughed at whatever joke he pitched. You blushed at whatever lame pick up line he slid into conversation. You groaned playfully at his equally playful flirting. You were making him fall and he did- hook, line and heavy sinker. Â
He was absolutely, unbelievably head over heels for you and he felt like he was on fire.Â
You both talked and talked until you had noticed that the sky started to change color and the rain had stopped. The sun was rising and you were suddenly overly aware of how exhausted you really were. Changkyun saw you stifle a yawn and although it felt like his heartstrings were going to tear in his chest, he was quick to get up and offer you a ride home as the manager started to truly open the lobby for business as nearly all morning staff were present. Â
As you sat in the car with him, directing him on what roads to take to get to your home, he found himself memorizing every turn. When you told him to keep it slow and then pointed out your small little apartment duplex, he looked at every crevice his eyes could see from the car window. The neighborhood was somewhere small, but there was a small park just across the block so he expected it to be fairly busy during the day.Â
As he bid you farewell, and watched you get safely inside before driving away, he struggled to contain his breath. When he rolled into the apartment parking lot and up to his penthouse, he was quick to lock his door and lift his coat to his face. Â
It smelt different than usual. It had your shampooâs scent embedded into its fake fur. It had the smell of your perfume and the smell of you inside of it. He fell asleep that morning until afternoon with his coat curled around him instead of a blanket. That feeling of euphoria chasing him until he finally fell asleep- only to have a set of specific dreams involving you in one of his reserved back rooms at Fantasia Dyed.Â
-x-x-x-
Over the course of the next week, Changkyun did his damnedest to keep his eyes on you at all times he possibly could. Heâd wake up in the afternoon and find a way to enter the library you worked at and slip into a corner behind a bookshelf with a book to disguise his obvious staring of you. When youâd leave the desk to replace books, heâd move to avoid your eyes, when youâd help a guest with their books to check out, heâd growl when it was a man that you smiled at. When you got off work, heâd trial behind you just enough to stay unnoticed. Heâd watch you get home every afternoon and one night he even put a small camera on one of the fake branches of your fake bush you hand sitting in a pot on your porch. Â
Heâd sit in his car or in his penthouse and watch the feed on his phone if it buzzed with a notification of movement. If you were leaving, heâd jump into action to try and find out where you were going if it was an unusual time. Heâd watch you go to the store to shop or into some food place for something to eat.Â
Heâs even seen you meet up with Halie a few times and each time he did, he hated that wench more and more. That obviously spoiled princess wasnât good enough to be around you, acting like a typical romance villain and obvious snake. You were smart, so he was curious as to why you trusted her so much. She was clearly brainwashing you and keeping you around as a tool.Â
Changkyun had a mental list of enemies and people he hated, and she was ranked number one among that list- along with all the men he saw speak or flirt with you. He wanted to get them away from you, throw them out of the picture and clean your mind of their filth.Â
During his work hours, and after even, heâd still get randoms to get into bed with him- but his mind would be filled with everything about you. The person underneath him would disappear and your face and body and voice would take hold in his brain like some sort of spell. Heâd fuck into man or woman with such fervor heâd be getting calls from his manager that he was requested for service back to back. Â
He hit euphoria and erotic highs with you just in his mind, he nearly came undone when he thought how it would feel actually fucking you. Heâd go home from work, from another sex session and heâd lay on his bed, on his couch, sit at his table or collapse in his doorway and wear himself thin with his hand at the thought of your touch instead of his or someone else. Â
He sat on the cold floor of his front door entrance, his leather, skintight pants unzipped and cock slipped through the hole in his boxers. His hand squeezed his length as his fingers rubbed and pinched and squeezed around the head and slit. It was so dry as his hand slid up and down painfully on his shaft. His hips bucked to meet his hands motions and his legs twitched in their perched, spread position. His stomach was tight as his opposite hand came to pinch and twist his nipples- his shirt discarded as he slid down the door upon his entry earlier.Â
It was so dry- it was hardly enjoyable- but it was painfully erotic. He couldnât stop and the precum leaking from his cockhead wasnât nearly enough for his hand to not pull on the delicate skin making him hiss. Taking his lip between his teeth and breathing so heavily he stuttered, he watched his hand abuse his cock.Â
The hand that played with his nipples shot down to hold his wrist as he finished himself off, cumming with the sound of your name spilling from his lips in lewd, breathless moans. He lay on the floor, slouched and exhausted as cum stuck, drying to his chest and pants.Â
He was so utterly, disgustingly, blissfully obsessed with you and he felt like he was losing his mind. His mind was filled to the brim with you, you, you. He spent every waking hour he could preparing. Yes, he had to make sure that everything would be perfect for when youâd finally come to him. Â
You deserved nothing short of perfection- and Changkyun would fuck anyone, get paid anything and obtain whatever it was you desired to make sure you got exactly that. However, it would take time- much to his dismay.Â
He knew he had to get ready before he could possibly have you. He started cleaning out a room he used as storage in his penthouse and got to work. Â
It was ten days after your three am date that Changkyun decided to play innocent and âbumpâ into you at work one day. He was impatient and couldnât wait any longer to speak to you again, to hear your voice directed at him again and not at someone else. Â
He entered the library confidently that day, dressed in blue jeans, low heeled boots and a tee that was stretched just a bit at the collar. His hair unstyled and glasses on his nose with his clutch under his arm. He didnât want to go over the top in style, so he tried to match your neutral style of dress. Â
He took a moment to look at you before he took a breath and walked up to the desk, placing a fake smile of shock on his face when you looked up to see him. He nearly fell to his knees when he saw your eyes shine and your mouth split into a smile and wave at him. If he could, he wouldâve ran the rest of the way to the desk instead of walked. Â
When he walked at the desk, he leaned and laid his arms in front of one another on the desktop, bending and crossing his ankles together and grinned at you. Â
âWell, fancy meeting you here, madam librarian,â he greeted, acting as if he hadnât been here daily for the past week just to see you work. Â
âItâs been a little bit, itâs good to see you Changkyun,â you said and he felt himself shift sinfully. âIâd ask you why youâre here, but itâs a library, so,â you chuckled at yourself. Oh, how he missed the sound of that laugh. âDid you come looking for something specific?â You asked as he jut his lip out in thought. Â
âNot necessarily. I just felt like cracking open a book, and what better place to start looking? It's a pleasant surprise you work at this library. Itâs close to where I live.â That was true, there were two other libraries in town and this one was the closest to him. You hummed at him. âCould you recommend something to me?â He grew giddy when you smiled widely and stood from your desk chair and started to walk around the desk, motioning for him to follow you.Â
As you asked him what he liked and disliked, leading him down the isles and scanning book after book, keeping small conversation he wished he could push you against a bookshelf and have his wicked way with you. He knew better, however; you needed to be taken care of in a specific set of ways and against a bookshelf wasnât it- tempting as it may be.Â
âHere,â you told him as you spun around and placed a book in his hands. As he took it, he quirked a small, teasing smile as he looked at you as if you were playing a joke on him.Â
âTwilight? Really, Y/n?â In his hand sat the book that sprung up the cheesy, cliche and overall, not so great movies he watched with one of his old friends for gags one night in his teens- completely drunk he may add. Â
âHey, donât judge a book by itâs cover- or itâs movies. Itâs better than you think.â You shoved the book closer to his chest. âJust give it a chance, please?â When you ask so adorably with your lip jutted out just enough for him to fantasize leaning down to bite into it with his teeth, he had no choice but to comply. Heâd read this book cover to cover, backwards even had you asked. Heâd do whatever you wished.Â
He spent the afternoon halfway reading at a table near the desk and halfway watching you work until your shift concluded. When you were packing up, he scrambled to get his clutch and mark the page he had to reread over and over again because he couldnât concentrate and rushed up and over to your side. Â
âAre you finished for the day?â He asked although he already knew the answer. You nodded as he touched your arm, grabbing gently around your elbow. âDo you want to go on a date with me?â He asked as he saw your cheeks grew in the most vibrant color of rose.Â
âI, uh,â you cleared your throat and rubbed the back of your neck with your free arm. âIâm not dressed for a date though,â you pouted. Changkyun licked his lips, desperate not to let you get away from him just yet. Â
âThen, tomorrow,â he pitched, âwhen youâre free tomorrow we can go out.â Tomorrow was Wednesday, and he knew that you always left work early on Wednesdays. He watched you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear as you licked your lips before rolling them over your teeth and then opening your mouth.Â
âI can do tomorrow,â you muttered, face fully flushed with redness flooding into the tips of your ears. He released your arm with a giant smile. He flicked his bangs out of his face as he felt his glasses slip just a bit further down his nose. He reached into his clutch as he dug out his phone and handed it to you with the new contact screen up.Â
âLetâs swap numbers then, and we can work out everything through the phone.â You didnât hesitate to place your number into his phone before sending yourself a text with âitâs changkyunâ attached to the message. You promptly added him in your contacts as well. Offering you a ride home, which you took, he dropped you off and when he walked into his penthouse that afternoon he pumped his fist into the air. As well as stared at the palm in which held your arm earlier, gazing at it as if he had just touched the blessed body of a holy messiah.Â
As he sat in his living room on the couch, he felt himself harden in his sweats he wore before changing into his work attire. He had actually called in to take the night off since he had to be well rested for his date tomorrow. This hand had touched you, touched your skin. He was sure it would feel magnificent on his cock too. Â

Tomorrow didnât come fast enough and Changkyun was bounding out of bed at the ass crack of dawn to figure out what he was going to wear. How would he style his hair? Would he fill all his ear piercings or change the stud in his eyebrow to a spike? Which shoes would he wear: sneakers, heeled boots, sandals? He couldnât waste another second in bed, he had far too much to plan for the day to worry about sleeping any more.Â
He dove for his phone the moment he heard the specific notification he set for you. He talked to you a bit and you both decided on a time to meet up. Meeting up at noon for lunch and then heâd take you to a movie and then heâd walk around with you window shopping, talking about the movie you both saw and then heâd take you for dinner. Thatâs what he wanted to happen. Â
He showed up at the meeting place half an hour early. Wearing a black, white spotted button up tucked into a pair of black jeans with a thin, white belt around his waist, he adjusted the buttons at the cuffs of his sleeves. A simple, thin silver chain to show off his neck as his shirt was unbuttoned just enough to show off his collar bones. The heels of his shoes clacked just enough on pavement or tile to let people know he was coming. Â
âChangkyun!â He heard from behind him. He raised himself off the bench had had been sitting cross-legged on, staring at his phone and debating on texting you. He quickly spotted you waving to him from among the crowd of people on the hunt for lunch before their work break ends.Â
His mouth nearly dropped when he saw you. Running up to him with the cutest, apparel on.Â
A summer dress of pale pink with small white dots that wrapped around your chest and fell loosely at the skirt to hit your thighs. The sleeves off shoulder and sheer all the way down your arm until it wrapped around your wrist in sheere frills. Black, thin straps to keep it all up. A pair of white sandals that wrapped around your foot and ankle with the smallest heel to keep you from twisting your ankle. Hair done in two little buns on either side of your head, but still kept some down with a black, stretchy choker around your neck.Â
The pink, circular satchel at your waist that hooked over your shoulder probably contained your phone, wallet and the pink gloss that covered your lips as you came to stop in front of him. You were like a flower as he gazed at you. You quickly lifted your wrist to check the thin watch you wore, making sure you werenât late. You werenât.Â
âI hope you werenât waiting here too long for me,â you giggled and he felt his heart try to burst from his chest. He shook off his stupor the best he could in front of you before he smiled and quickly denied it. Â
âI havenât been here long,â he assured. You made a small jest about the both of you wearing something with small polka dots on it and he felt like he was going to fall to his knees at your noticing his attire and complimenting it. You were far too precious.Â
Throughout the day, he found out that you werenât only exceptionally kind, but you were probably the biggest pushover heâs ever met. Youâd follow after him like a little lost duckling and whatever he recommended doing, wherever he wanted to go, you were quick to agree and comply. With your ease of compliance, he was able to mentally go through the check list of plans he had set with little to no difficulty. Â
It was miraculous how easily you obeyed him.Â
Changkyun made note of everything your eyes lingered on, everything your fingers brushed, everything you expressed just the slightest interest in- he would remember. Changkyun wanted to spoil you, wanted to give you everything you desired- everything you deserved. You were an angel walking, cursed upon the earth and nothing anyone could say would change his mind about it.Â
The entire time you were out with Changkyun that day, you were smiling at him as he hung onto every one of your words. Every interest, every detail, every idea or opinion you had- he grabbed it and held it deep inside his chest.Â
It was coming close to around ten that night when he was finally getting around to dropping you back home, as he could see the exhaustion in your eyes and the slowness in your steps. He had half a mind to just drive you back to his home, but he couldnât- not yet.Â
He walked you to your door as he bid you a final goodnight and as you unlocked your door and pushed it open just a crack, you turned back to him and smiled. He froze when he felt your fingers on his cheek before you stood to your toes and kissed his cheek. You rushed inside before he could say anything and before you could regret it.Â
The blond sat dazed and only managed to drive a block away before he pulled into a parking lot of a closed, daytime store. His cheeks were flushed, his skin burned and his breath was staggered. He could still feel the feeling of your lips on his cheek and that shiver of delight attacked his spine and spread until he was finishing himself off in the front seat of his car- the sound of your name on his lips over and over again as his fingers brushed his cheek trying to feel the essence of you in his skin.Â

Changkyun had the privilege of taking you out on two more dates over the course of the last two weeks (along with his library trips to visit you) and it was today, when he once again frequented the library- where he noticed you werenât in your usual high spirits. He pulled you aside on your break and into a back corner library table as he made you spill your guts on what could be plaguing your mind. Â
It took all of his will power to not scream when you told him you had been being harassed by some library guest who always comes in. He always wants the same book renewed over and over and he always tried to pry your number out of you. Even after clearly telling him no and explaining to you that you were traveling among the silver lining of a relationship with Changkyun- he was persistent. It came to the point you were looking over your shoulder and even jogging to and from work.Â
âSo, heâs stalking you?â Changkyun clarified, as you nodded weakly. He grit his teeth, his jaw tightening. Didnât other people know that his woman was off limits, especially when it came to following you around? He kept you under his watchful eye, but these men were after something far worse and in his sick, demented mind- they were the offender and they were a disease. Â
Changkyun reached across the table and gently held your hand, trying to convey that he knew that you were scared and that heâd do anything to keep you safe. He could see the tears glisten around your eyes and a taboo sense of arousal shot in his stomach at seeing your so utterly weak and vulnerable. Â
He spent the remainder of the time with you on your break as he consoled and shushed you as he promised that heâd stay until you got off and when you did, heâd take you home. You were quick to agree. Â
That afternoon you rushed to Changkyunâs side and were discreet to point out the man who was hanging outside the library entrance with his nose in his phone. According to you, that was the perpetrator and source of your fear. You clung to Changkyun as he gently wrapped his arm around your shoulders and held you to his chest, walking out with you.Â
When he dropped you off and kissed the top of your head as he sent you inside, the gentle eyes he had been gazing at you with disappeared as you shut the door and he heard it harshly lock. Â
Turning around and stuffing his hands inside the pockets of his jeans, he waltzed back towards his car, but never got into it. His dark shirt allowed him to dip below the hood of his car as he started walking around in the shadows the street lights created. He stood behind a post as he watched the figure move from the side of the building to the front porch where he crouched below the windows. Â
You had pulled the curtains and shut the blinds just as he had reminded you to as he was quick to walk up behind the stalker and hook his arm under the manâs chin. The gasp that was pulled from the man was cut off as Changkyunâs arm tightened around his neck and he started to quickly drag the man backward and away from your doorstep.Â
The blond shoved the man into the backseat of his car, slamming the door as he quickly rushed to get into the driver's seat. Not bothering with his seatbelt, he started the car with tangible rage and started off. Â
âWhat the fuck, man!â The man from his backseat scowled as Changkyun only reached into his center console and pulled out a small, black handheld device, pressing the button on the side of it as it zapped. A stungun. The man in the back hissed as he instinctively shut up.Â
Changkyunâs aggressive driving made the man in the backseat fall back and forth along the seats before he finally gripped the passenger chair to steady himself. Changkyun drove and drove until he was well outside of city limits before he stopped and parked his car. He peered up into the rear-view mirror, seeing the man behind him look around anxiously. Â
âGet out,â the blond ordered as he stepped out of his car. The man didnât move, too shocked to process his words and was then yanked out by his shirt clad shoulder when he didnât listen quick enough for Changkyunâs liking. The club worker threw the man on the ground as he rolled to his back just quick enough for Changkyun to stand over him. His feet on either side of his hips, a glimmer in his eyes that was menacing to witness- even in the darkness of night.Â
The man on the ground shuddered as he weakly tried to crawl backward on his elbows. His heels kicked and dug into the ground, threatening to pull his shoe off, as he tried to get away from the look in the blondâs eyes. Â
Changkyunâs foot came to the center of the manâs chest as he stomped, pushing him flat onto the ground. He knelt, coming closer to him as he gripped the collar of his shirt. Changkyun eyed him around- he certainly wasnât a looker that's for damn sure. Â
âYou really thought you had a chance?â He asked lowly, almost in a growl. âIâll offer you a bit of last moment advice for perhaps your next life,â he got closer to the manâs ear, before telling him something. âStay away from things that donât belong to you,â he seethed. Â
Over the course of the next few days, Changkyun was delighted to see you smiling again when you told him that the man who had been stalking you seemed to finally leave you alone.Â
He made sure that a week later when he saw missing person posters out in the streets, your eyes stayed off of them.

After a month of dates, library visits, phone calls and good morning and good night texts, Changkyun was finally- finally- able to call you his girlfriend. He was currently out with you at some cafe where you wanted to stop and get something to drink and he decided to walk in and sit down with you for a while.Â
You were on your phone, tapping away before placing it down and repeating. You were obviously talking with someone on the other end of your text thread, which already ground his gears, but the twisted brow on your face made him more curious than not. Someone was upsetting you and he already knew how to deal with someone who upset you.Â
âHey,â he called, gaining your attention. You looked at him, placing your phone back down. âWhoâre you talking to, Sweetness?âÂ
âOh, just to Halie,â you told him. The name of your âbest friendâ making his skin itch. That fake fraud of a friend couldnât even leave you alone while you were out with him? The audacity of the woman made him jittery. His knee began to bounce as he pressed further.Â
âAre you two fighting? You look annoyed.âÂ
You sighed, solidifying that she was indeed bothering you. âSheâs mad that Iâm out on a date,â you grumbled. Changkyun cocked his head.Â
âExcuse me?â His resentment slipped out just a small fraction as he wanted to know immediately what this witch was putting into your precious little head. âSheâs mad at you for what?âÂ
You groaned again, placing your elbow on the table and your chin in your palm, you huffed. âI think sheâs just upset that I have a boyfriend before she does since she knows more people.â The tone in your voice made your annoyance apparent to Changkyun who had spent the last month of his life learning every little quirk in your day to day life- including your vocal tone. âSheâs got a whole list of friends and while I have just enough to count on one hand, she's mad about my relationship.âÂ
Changkyun watched you toil the situation around in your head, trying to justify her words and actions, but he couldnât let you do that. This was a prime opportunity. The perfect time to finally get that wench out of the picture and away from you.Â
He reached across the table where he sat in front of you, careful not to knock into your drink.Â
âDarling,â he cooed, gaining your teary, stress filled eyes, âmaybe you shouldnât be talking to her.â He watched your brow quirk and turn inwards at his suggestion. He readjusted his grip on your hand, holding it tightly. âIf sheâs so angry about something like us, then maybe you should go on a little break at least.âÂ
âBut-â
âI know sheâs your friend,â he fought back before you could try and save Halieâs snake skin, âbut every time you talk about her with me, itâs all things that stress you out or things sheâs done that make you uncomfortable.â He vividly remembers the club night of her birthday. âPressuring you into clubbing, then not paying attention to you at all even though you werenât enjoying yourself. Never talking to you unless she needs something or someone to bother. Now, sheâs angry because youâre happy with me? Sheâs just using you, Sweetheart.âÂ
âI know she seems bad, but-âÂ
âY/n,â he breathed in a small, soft scolding tone. âYou canât keep defending her and giving her what she wants. She has to learn, one way or the other.â He watched your lips turn into a pout as he ran his thumb over your knuckles and brought your hand up to kiss the back of it. âI just want the best for you, you know that.âÂ
He bit back a victorious smirk when you told him that youâd take his suggestion and advice to heart and think about it. A little more nudging and youâd drop Halie like a hat. He just had to wait until she brought something else up again that put a target on her back. Â
It didnât take but three days for that to occur. Â
You were home, off on a Sunday, just sitting in your home, on the phone with Changkyun while he just woke up from resting since he had work at Fantasia Dyed that evening. He had some private show booked up so he couldnât afford to flake out either. He needed the cash for his personal project he always teased, and this coming party was sure to deliver. Â
You both were chatting happily until you were cut shut but someone pounding on your door. You told Changkyun to hold on a moment as you set your phone down on the arm of your couch and went to the door. Changkyun on the other hand went and immediately opened the camera footage of your front door he had from that camera in your bush. Â
He growled and jumped out of bed when he saw the back of Halie in the frame. Her arms were crossed and her leg was bouncing as she slouched. When you opened the door, her crossed arms flared out and she was clearly shouting at you from the hiking of her shoulders and the fact that he could hear her obnoxious voice through the call line.Â
He jumped out of bed. Nothing but sweats on as he threw on a jacket, leaving his chest naked before he was out of his penthouse, racing down the stairs and in his car on the way to your home. He kept the call live- as much as he didnât want to hear her voice- so he could hear the venom she spat at you as he worked her way inside. Stomping around and screaming like the bitch she was. Â
When he showed up to your home and jumped out of the car, he finally hung the call up as he stormed inside, knowing the door was unlocked from Halieâs tempertatrum. When he came in, he saw you against the wall with your âbest friendâ not a foot away from you still screaming at you like you were deaf.Â
He worked his way over before he was grabbing Halieâs shoulder, shoving her away and placing himself in front of you, walking back into your space until he felt your hands push on his shoulders. He glared at the party animal blonde in front of him. Â
âWhat the fuck do you think youâre doing?â He seethed as she seemed taken aback by his language towards her- a lady.Â
âExcuse me?â She spat.Â
âI suggest you leave, or else Iâll make you leave.â
âYou canât make me do anything. This isnât your home either. Iâm just talking to, Y/n.â Changkyun stepped away from you, turning the woman around by her shoulders and started pushing her. Â
âYeah? And youâre done now. Get out.â He told her, shoving her out the doorway once he worked her through the front room. Before she could fight back, he got close to her ear and told her one more thing before shutting the door in her face and locking. âStay away, or Iâll make you.â The look in his eyes, the crazed dangerous gleam, made his threat very, very real.Â
When he turned back around, he saw you on the ground, curled up as you cried. He rushed to your side, rubbing your back and trying to get you to lift your head to look at him. He cooed when he saw your swollen eyes and fat tears rolling down your cheeks. Â
âHey, itâs okay. Iâm here,â he shushed as you just wordlessly nodded with choked hiccups and sputters. You were seriously an ugly crier, but what could you do? Your best friend broke your heart. Â
Changkyun shifted to hold you to his bare, jacket clad chest as you cried and he shushed you. Â
âDonât worry. You donât need anyone else. Iâll always be here.â He promised. Â
-x-x-x-
All it took was one more month, and everything was finally falling into place for Changkyun. Halie had officially left your side, with one or two more scraps between him and her before she finally called it quits. And with the queen bee of your circle gone, the rest quickly fell apart and you were left with no one but Changkyun- as you should be. Â
He was in his extra bedroom, setting up his project more when his phone rang. He jumped to it, knowing it was you calling after you got done with your shift at the library. He had told you to call him when you had the chance, since he wanted you to come somewhere tonight.Â
âHello, darling,â he purred into the phone, hearing you slightly chuckle on the other line. âDid work go well? No annoyances?â He asked and he knew that youâd tell him about the computers or the receipt machine or the squeaky wheel on the return cart; but you never knew that he really meant to know if you were being bothered by any other man again. âWell, if your evening is cleared up, why not swing on by Fantasia tonight?âÂ
He heard you pause on the other side of the phone call as he was walking out of the room, shutting the door softly behind him. It was almost perfect. Â
âIâm not sure,â you drawled. Â
âIâm working the floor tonight, bar-tending for staff out sick. You can sit at the bar with me.â Your hesitation was loud and clear for him as he continued. âIâd really appreciate the company, but if youâd rather not-â he quickly heard you try and reconcile and save the conversation but agreeing to his proposal. You were a sucker for guilt trips. âReally?â He asked in faux concern as he grinned, throwing himself back across the length of his couch.Â
âYeah. Iâll come, just promise that youâll stay at the bar.âÂ
âIâll do my best. If I have to leave, just hide in the bathroom until Iâm back,â âso that you wonât be in contact with anyone other than meâ, he added silently in his head. You agreed and he said a quick goodbye before he hung up the call. He sat up and peered down his hall, picturing the door of his extra room. Soon, youâd be with him always.Â
It was an hour after his shift started and he had just served yet another waiting patron when he felt his phone buzz in the back pocket of his pants. He wore a mesh shirt at the bar that showed off his torso. His tattoo in the middle of his back was on display when he turned around. His eyebrow piercing was a black ring this evening and he wore silver hoops in his earlobes. His knee high, buckle punk boots lifting him three inches higher into the air.Â
âIâm here, where do I go?â Your text read with a nervous emoji beside it. He told you the location of the mini side stage bar and soon your head popped out from among the mass of alcohol driver party goers. As you got to the bar and slid into a stool in front of him, he leaned on the counter and whistled at you.Â
âWell, look who dressed up for me tonight?â He asked, a purr in his voice as your cheeks flushed. He recognized this get up, it was a piece he picked out for you one night. It wasnât something he thought youâd ever wear out, since you were rather reserved, but he thought you deserved it anyway.Â
It wasnât anything fancy, but even a simple, black cocktail dress with lace running up the sides of it and looping around your neck and back looked good when placed on someone as breathtaking as yourself to Changkyunâs eyes. He could faintly hear you clicking your heels together underneath you as they were hooked on the metal foot ring of the stool. The bracelet and earrings were a nice touch.Â
âI thought it was appropriate since you bought it for me,â you muttered, unable to look at him in the eyes. He chuckled since it wasnât hard to guess why. His entire chest was on display to see with only lines of fabric separating his entire torso from being nude. He halfway wished he had gotten his nipples pierced when he was on the fence about it months ago just to see how youâd react to that.
He stood back up and turned his back and he could feel your eyes scan the tattoo that rested between his shoulders. Large and taking up a good portion of real estate on his skin. He smirked as he felt you stare, a shiver wracking up his spine just as it always did with you. When he turned around, he offered you a glass of water he had so neatly prepared for you.Â
âI know you donât drink, sweetheart,â he told you as you graciously thanked him for the drink. Throughout the course of his shift, he was tending to people left and right. His charisma between patrons and ways of addressing person to person just by acknowledging how they seemed to looked amazed you. Â
You could never hope to be the people person he is. He was bold enough to get on stage, strip and get behind closed doors for his way of life. He was fearless in your eyes and you admired him for it. He had told you that he would stop sleeping around for money since he was in a relationship with you now, but you just told him it was alright. Â
You trusted him, and although the idea of him sleeping around did grind under your skin like ice and salt, you knew that was his job. He worked in this industry- the sex industry- so that was the end of it. He had started to dwindle down in client numbers though, never wanting to have the sex he was getting paid for last too long.Â
The clock struck midnight and Changkyun turned back to you the moment he had an opening to. He leaned over the counter and towards you again, just so he could talk to you clearly over the loud bass and whistling from the stage work.Â
âWhat do you say I make a drink for you?â He offered. You looked at your half empty glass of water he had refilled at least three times now. âJust one, I promise. Itâll be on me too. I just want my girlfriend to taste some of my work since I donât get to work the bar often.âÂ
âWell, when you say it like that,â you whined as he just chuckled and stood up, turning his back and started mixing. It was three minutes later when he was sliding a cocktail glass gently towards you. Inside sat a liquid of pink that resembled the color of pink lemonade, but you knew whatever was inside that wasnât lemonade. âVoilĂ ,â he told you. âThatâs something new Iâm trying out. You get to be the first to try it.âÂ
His smile looked innocent enough to your eyes and as you started taking sips of it with a smile and a nod; however, you missed a sinister glint in his eyes. You complimented him on it and found yourself sipping on the drink, making it last until well after one since you didnât want to have him make another. It was half after when Changkyun noticed you starting to sway in your stool seat.Â
He placed the towel he had in his hands on the bar before he rounded the bar to your side. Â
âDarling, come with me. You look like youâre about to pass out,â he chuckled. You couldnât get your mouth to move or your voice to work as your mind was just as fuzzy as your eyesight. Were you really that much of a light weight? He took you back into one of his private rooms before he placed you on the bed. He sat beside you, brushing your hair from your face and running his fingers around your face, skin and shoulders down your arm. âSleep. I'll come get you later,â he told you softly- the totally opposite tone of the smirk on his face.Â
You were in and out of it for the duration of Changkyun picking you up from the bed you vaguely remember placing you on. He picked you up and took you out of the room. The bass of the club had stopped and you only heard him speaking briefly with coworkers before he loaded you into his car.Â
It felt like he was taking you home as he removed you from the car again and heard the jingles of keys before a door was opened. You only remembered being placed in a bed before you felt him kiss your forehead and you were out for good.Â
You groaned as you were finally waking up. Your head hurt and you felt like your throat had sandpaper in it. You coughed lightly as you reached your hand up to rub your throat, but something was around your neck.Â
Feeling around, it felt like a collar or something. It was thick and leather, a small loop in the front of it. You also thought you felt tags near the loop that jangled. Groaning and moving among the mattress you realized that it was pitch black in the room. You were sure your eyes were open, but you couldnât see a thing. Â
Sitting up, you felt around your body. Your cocktail dress wasnât on you instead it felt like a nightgown was. Did you own nightgowns? IT feel off your shoulders to wrap around your chest and biceps with frills as it bunched around your thighs on the mattress.Â
Your head pounded as you rubbed your eyes. You moved to try and crawl from the bed when you felt something tug on your ankle. Feeling around, whatever was on your ankle was thick, cold and hard. At first you thought it was some anklet, but then you felt something protrude from the cold metal.Â
Pulling and tracing your fingers around it, you started to panic. It felt like a chain.Â
You got off the bed you were convinced wasnât yours as you walked around like some cheap, budget-movie zombie in the dark room. You found a dresser first. Feeling around, you felt the knobs of the four drawers and on top it had what felt like boxes. Reaching further, you found the dresser had a mirror attached to the back of it. Â
Moving around in the opposite direction, you reached a closet door. Pull it open, you feel all sorts of soft fabric. Silks, satin, fur, cotton, linen- you felt all sorts of clothing.Â
You looked around the dark room in panic before you trusted your voice. Â
âChangkyun,â you called softly. You were going to call him again, but stopped short as you stepped on the cold chain that was around your foot. You screamed as you fell backward and before long, you heard someone padding up to the room and the door swung open.Â
You scrambled back, covering your face with your arms as you soon felt the foot of the bed push against your back, keeping you from going back any further. Â
âSweetness, are you awake already?â Your arms that were up slowly lowered as you looked to the open doorway. It was so bright outside of the dark room, you had to squint from the stark contrast. Whoever was in the doorway sounded just like Changkyun, but- it couldnât be. He walked closer to you. âDarling, can you talk?â His hand came to your throat, touching it with the pad of his fingers above the collar around your neck. âAre you thirsty? It has been half a day.âÂ
You were speechless as Changkyun stood up from in front of you before he walked out of the room. You moved to your knees and looked around. The dresser and closet you found were indeed what you thought. Â
The bed was a canopy bed. A white frame with pink fabric hanging from it. The covers were red and white with a plethora of pillows at the head of the mattress. There was a rack of four wood dowels by the bedroom door, and three of them a different kind of leash, and the fourth had a pair of handcuffs.Â
The one window in the room was covered with black out curtains- you couldnât tell if it was daytime or not outside right now.
Looking down now that you had the light from outside the room, you indeed did have a shackled ankle. You began to pull at it, the cold metal yanking around your skin- pinching and shafting it painfully. You hissed as your yanking was stopped by Changkyun shouting.Â
âDonât pull on that!â He cried, dropping to your side to pull your hands from your shackle. âI need to put felt and fur on it before you can move around in it safely. Itâll ruin your skin, but bear with it for now.âÂ
âChangkyun, what?â You squeaked. He smiled, but it was twisted in some sort of menacing light. Maybe it was the light from behind him into the dark room that made him look sinister. You felt yourself begin to tremble.Â
âDonât you worry your pretty little head,â he told you, patting your head and tucking your hair behind your ear. âChangkyun will take care of everything. I told you to remember?â He caressed your hair, tracing his finger down your face and under your chin. He then moved to hook his finger through the hoop in your collar. âI told you, you donât need anyone else. Iâm all that you need. You are the princess, and this is your tower.â He flicked at the tags on your collar, one labeled âPrincessâ and the other engraved with his initials.Â
He then reached to his side to the discarded glass of water he went to get for you earlier for your throat. He gently gripped around your neck and used the back of his hand to tilt your chin up.Â
The mixing of emotions in your eyes made him shiver and when you blinked out a small tear he gently moved to place his lips over it. The salty taste made him groan as he leaned back and kissed your nose to see your eyes glossy. He smiled at you as he brought the glass to your lips.Â

Au where Whitley has actually been running the bank accounts since he was young and keeping the group financially viable
#Rising Snow AU - mod lilac - [ next ]
1. Beginning
It started when his father, smelling like expensive liquors and overbearing perfume, shoved a packet of folders at him and stated âYou deal with it. Your father has a hang- headacheâ before staggering off back to his bedroom to sleep off yesterdayâs social gathering. Â
He was ecstatic. His father began to trust him to handle things in the company. Before he was a mere fixture in the company, only present to speak pleasantries and let others know that Jacques Schnee had a well-bred son. But now he had responsibilities and power. Â
Whitley Schnee, soon-to-be-heir of the Schnee Dust Company since Weiss didnât seem to care about it and Willow just left to join Atlas, will show everyone his worth, starting with.... a whole lot of complaints about their customer service.
_______________________________________
2. Complaints
âThis motor is covered under warranty. I still have the original receipt. You have to take it back.â
âSorry, but the warranty only covers usage in automobiles. You said you tried installing it in a motorcycle, so your warranty is void.â
â...A motorcycle is an automobile, sir.â
âLook smartass, youâre getting on my nerves. Youâre not going to get a refund from the Schnee Dust Company, got it?â
âExcuse me!? I want to talk to your manager. Now.â
âI am the manager. Now stop wasting my time.â
âWh-âÂ
Click.
Whitleyâs eyebrows creased sharply as he closed the Scroll. He took slow deep breaths trying to get rid of the anger trembling through his body. A Schnee is like ice. They do not show their rage unless they can leverage it for their purposes. His teeth gritted once more and relaxed.
Those two-faced bastards. He knew the customer service staff were no good when they started fawning over him, telling him that âof course they got complaints when they couldnât fulfill their requestsâ or âwe got everything under control.âÂ
In reality, they were all just disgusting liars who couldnât do their job. If he hadnât been suspicious of them, they mightâve gotten away with it. Those people had to be removed before they truly caused an incident;Â he cannot let such unsightly things remain.Â
He picked up the phone.

3. Fired.
âYou canât do this to us! This is going against our contract.â
âJust because youâre your fatherâs son doesnât mean you have any power here.â
âYouâre going to speak to my lawyer about unfair dismissal, kid!â
Itâs funny. The half-dozen or so people who were fawning over him just hours earlier were now cursing and shaming him. Of course they were angry. He just told them they were all fired a couple minutes ago and stopped saying anything when they started yelling like a mob. His lips trembled, trying to stop himself from smiling.Â
Gods. He was so angry that heâs finding humor in it. Do they really think they have power here?
Bang.Â
A bald-headed tall man - the manager he spoke to last - slammed his hands onto his desk, looming over him as if to intimidate him with the threat of physical violence. The noise made him flinch slightly, breaking his facade of calm and causing the other guy to smirk mockingly at him.Â
Bastard.
This farce has gone on long enough.
âOkay. You can keep your jobs...â
Immediately, the six people leered triumphantly with the one at the head of the pack messing his desk up proudly stood up.Â
âGood kid, see you know when youâre in the wrong.â
âYeah, smart like your father,â said the man at his desk about to pat him on the head. Immediately, he swatted the manâs hand away.
â...as I gather the audio logs for our lawyers to peruse and determine how much damage youâve done to the companyâs image.â
That silenced the room better than a dead body being found in it.Â
âIf you didnât do anything wrong, youâll have my apologies and a bonus for your troubles. But if youâve damaged our image... well, a companyâs face is priceless - but I can definitely try to get back some recompense.âÂ
He lifted a finger which everyone else in the room followed.
âThatâs your first option. The other option is to resign quietly, and I will not pursue this in the future. You can take the time to think about it.Â
âYou can-â
âYouâre all dismissed. If you linger around a second longer,â he glared at the group, âIâm going to assume youâre taking the first option and want to be escorted out.âÂ
Immediately, upon realizing who had the actual power in the room, the group of six began to scramble out of the room, but just as the bald-headed manager exited out the door, Whitley spoke up. The words caused the man to stiffen up.
âExcept you. You donât get an option, manager. You're fired. Wait to hear from my lawyers.âÂ
He steepled his fingers together, a vicious satisfied smile on his lips.Â

4. Security Card
...Okay. That was scary. He honestly thought that baldy was going to hit him at the very end. In the future, he was going to have a bodyguard in the room or Klein just in case. He loosened his vest slightly, the cloth sticking to his back from the cold sweat.
It was weird though. Why did something like customer service go all the way up to the level of the President?
Wasnât that something for managers or department heads to solve?
âMaybe itâs just a test from father,â Whitley spoke out loud. He shook his head.
Yeah, that was probably it.Â
----
Little did he know that his carelessly stated statement was caught by a hidden camera in his room.
----Â
The next day he found a folder on his desk and a white card with the label of 00 on it.Â

5. Assignment
âHey, Klein,â Whitley asked cautiously as the loyal man handed him a glass of water, âDid father come into my room yesterday?âÂ
He didnât know what to make of the butler at times or how to treat him. Father said never to treat the help too kindly or theyâll take advantage of it, but Klein was someone he knew since he was born. Heâs never seen him be anything but loyal and attentive. He wasnât like the people he just dealt with.
Maybe he wouldâve just dismissed him as just the help, but after having seen a very recent example of two-faced people, he couldnât quite agree with his fatherâs assessment of Klein.
âYour father has gone on va-,â the man paused upon seeing the contents on the desk, particularly the white card on his desk. âThat card?â
âI donât think Iâve ever seen such a card like this before,â Whitley replied, âWhat does it actually do?â
Klein stared at the card quietly before saying, âOnly the Master of the House couldâve given you that card. It will open every lock and file in the Schnee Dust Company. It means the Master has given you authority second to them.â
âFather must really trust me after I got results, right?â he proudly stated as he started shuffling through the documents. In doing so, he missed Kleinâs smile, both proud and pained at the same time.Â
The cursory review made his self-praising words die in his throat.
âWait...He wants me to solve all these?!â Whitley yelled. It wasnât that the entire packet consisted of a single problem. The entire seventy-two page packet was a large list of overdue problems and documents that required his attention.Â
âWhereâs father?â
âHeâs currently on vacation. He wonât be here for a month.â
âDidnât he just go on vacation two weeks ago? There should be someone to substitute while heâs gone?âÂ
â...No, sir. This is how it always has been.â
âHaha. Youâre joking. Or is this part of the test, Klein?â He laughed but it soon died on his throat, seeing the manâs grim face.Â
âI will not lie to you, young master.â Klein remarked before adding with a nudge of his head, âThereâs a note.â
Heâs right. There was. The script was in cursive; it wouldâve been elegant and soft if it werenât for the shakiness in it.Â
âYou have the right idea. Sometimes problems need to find the right people.â

6. Delegation
This was stupid. The purchasing of toilet paper or whether it had to be 2-ply or 3-ply or setting the price of bubble-gum at the employee store did not need to pass through the presidentâs desk.
Hell. Itâs like anything that involved the tiniest amount of money or required the slightest authority needed to make its way to his desk.Â
This was not a functional solution. Heâll die of exhaustion by the end of the week if that continued.
And the answers from the department heads were incredibly unhelpful.
âIt has always been this way.â
But it hasnât. Looking through the records only he could access, everything changed when his father inherited the company from his grandfather. His father first fired anyone that disagreed with him and then diverted anything that looked like it involved money up to the very top. Maybe it was important back then, but those measures certainly didnât need to be used now.Â
His father ruled with an iron fist when it came to the company. No one dared to challenge his authority now.Â
His father was smart. Intelligent. These actions didnât match that. Was this just another one of his tests? He wanted to believe that, but...
âThe only person you can trust is yourself. Everyone else can betray you. Even family. Only trust others if you have power over them, that is trust.â
...It did match what his father would do. And if there was nothing else he learned from all those official dinners and parties, he knew how to read people, especially his father and his mercurial temper.Â
With how many of these documents have been untouched and unread, what exactly is his father doing?Â
Come to think of it. When was the last time his father sat in front of a computer instead of going on vacation or to one of his many dinners with his business associates?
He shook his head. Impossible. His father definitely worked hard. How else would this company be standing if he was that neglectful? Maybe these files were just like the 5% of untouched work since he had so much wor-
His screen flickered as he clicked on another file. The pillar of red pointing downwards made him pale.Â

You Hug Them when in Distress (REACTION)

tw: mentions of emotional distress
KSJ
You stormed into Seokjinâs apartment, your bag in hand ready to throw onto the couch. Heâd allowed you to use his place to study for your university exams since libraries and classrooms were packed. The isolated work space had allowed you to complete what you thought would be good revision, but your first exam was nothing but disaster.
âHow did it go?â He asked, coming out from the wall that separated the dining room. You grunted in frustration, chucking your bag at the large sofa cushions, âOh dear. I take it not too well?â
Seokjin was your best friend, you werenât afraid to cry around him. Scorching tears slivered down your cheeks while you whimpered in all the different emotions you could think of. He sat beside you, reaching out to rub your back as you curled into your knees, âIâve failed, I know I have!â
âListen-â He began. Before you allowed him to continue, you raised your head and buried it into his shoulders. Your arms reached around his frame as you cried harder into his shirt. Seokjin paused in his upcoming anecdote and shifted his hands to attempt and comfort you, âListen, this was only the first of.. seven? You have six more chances to show them how amazing you really are, yeah?â
The congested sniffles that accompanied tears were upcoming, âI hope youâre right.â Even his presence was relief enough. He tightened his hold around your shaking body and began to slowly rock you. It went without saying that Seokjin was one of your most trusted friends, and above that, a good shoulder to cry on.

Constant alert sounds from your phone easily caught Yoongiâs attention. You were never this popular. The idea of muting your ex hadnât even crossed your mind; instead you allowed yourself to read the abusive messages.
The spiteful comments that continued to roll across the top of your phone became like daggers. Once upon a time, such remarks wouldnât have affected you, but even you had your thresholds. Amidst the messages, your long-hidden tears began to well at the brims of your eyelids and soon enough, they had fallen.
âCome on, whatâs going on?â Yoongi asked, waddling over to your spot on the couch. He had been the person whoâd helped you out of a harsh breakup, you were relieved to be in his presence, âIs it him?â
You handed over your phone to Yoongi who resumed to flick through the tens of messages. While he held your phone, you rested your head on his shoulder and proceeded to embrace him. Yoongi had never been the biggest on surprise skinship, but heâd never turn you away, âHeâs just being annoying, thatâs all.â You insisted through weighted sniffs.
Using his spare arm, Yoongi reached around to grip your shoulder affirmingly, âIâll take care of it. You donât need to worry, alright?â

A few months ago, at the end of spring, youâd been unfortunate enough to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Never did you think that it could happen to you, but it did. When on the highway, another driver had misjudged the gap between you and another truck, resulting in your car being pushed over another lane and you sustaining a couple of minor injuries.
It wasnât serious, youâd won your claim and insurance had covered the damage to your car. But in the few seconds that it took to harm your car, the entirety of your life had flashed before you. Sometimes, when left to overthink, the initial panic of the incident returns and you canât help but become upset.
Hoseok looked over to your place at the dining table where you continuously picked at your nails. It was only a nervous habit, but one that you made obvious enough for concern, âOverthinking?â He asked, carrying a bowl through to the kitchen.
You stared into space to process his simple question. Hoseok turned his back to begin cleaning the used dishes, and as he did, you began to pace over to him, âWas it my fault? The accident?â Trembling vocal chords made your distress sound more apparent, and your building panic earned a empathetic sigh from Hoseok.
Before he had the chance to answer, you wrapped your arms around his stomach and laid against his back. He froze in place, clearly started by your sudden gesture. Nevertheless, he welcomed it, âNot at all. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, thatâs all.â

It had been apparent to you for months that your workplace wasnât stable enough to keep operating, and that sooner or later youâd have to find a new job. A new job, with pay as good or even better than before, would be near impossible to find. Especially with your limited schedule and infinite amount of students searching for workplaces, you were prepared to give up before youâd even begun.
Time was the single security you had in your situation, but after losing your job a few days ago, the only thing burdened in your mind was stress. To try and distract yourself for a few hours at the least, youâd invited your best friend, Namjoon, to a near cafĂ© to catch up. You spoke almost everyday on the phone, but youâd failed to mention the loss of your income in fear of breaking down.
He approached the far table you waited at enthusiastically, âHey!â His coat was already sling down his arms and over the back of his chair. Instead of returning his verbal greeting, you raised from you chair and hugged him instead. It was a rarity for you, but it felt right, âThis is sudden? Whatâs up?â
You retracted from his embrace shortly. Having known Namjoon for as long as you had, you were aware his advice and willingness to help you in any situation were simply invaluable, âCould you help me with a few things? I desperately need it.

Moving to Seoul to study was easily the biggest decision youâd made so far in your life and by far the best. Youâd met so many incredible people that you never would have met by staying in Busan, but of course, you couldnât help but miss home.
Your homesickness became worse around your birthday. Not being able to celebrate with your family and old friends was the worst part of it all. Your current friends were more than capable of throwing you the perfect party, but it still wasnât complete.
After the move, Jimin had quickly grown to become your best friend. As he was also from Busan, he was able to listen to you rambling about every aspect of childhood you missed and understand your longing for home. A couple of days following your birthday, Jimin visited you apartment just to spend time with you on your day off, and following a conversation relating to your birthplace the familiar feeling of homesickness had returned.
Emerging from the laundry room, you found Jimin stood in the kitchen drinking from a mug oblivious to your whereabouts. Without the time to think of words, you hugged him gently from behind, careful not to spill any beverage, âEverything okay back there?â
âHomesick, nothing much.â
âTell you what,â Jimin started, turning around and using his spare hand to softly pat your back, âwhen thereâs time in our schedules, weâll go to Busan together. I miss it too.â

Since you were a teenager, you knew that your dream job was to work in childcare. As the youngest in your family, youâd never been able to watch somebody grow up in front of you, and so the opportunity was appealing. Working in a preschool was everything you wanted in a job, but of course, it came with itâs stresses.
Taehyung, one of your closest friends, was staying with you for a couple days and was always back at your apartment by the time you were home. You pushed the front door open, quick to dump your shoulder bag on the sofa and kick your shoes to the side of the corridor, âHow was your day?â He asked, turning to look away from his phone as he sat cross-legged across the room.
There were a million different ways to describe your lacklustre day and yet none of them were available to you. Instead, you heaved a sigh and walked over to lay next to him. Taehyung welcomed your head in his lap as he became more aware of your exhaustion, âItâs harder than you think, working with kids. Theyâre amazing but constant headaches and bickering.. itâs tiring after so long.â
âNo, I can imagine.â He assured you, twirling a strand of your hair between his fingers, âHow does tea sound? Or coffee? Vodka?â
You stifled a laugh at his somewhat successful attempt to make you smile, âCamomile sounds great, Tae.â

Selling prints of your artwork was a business you never imagined taking off, but a fair share of your income was earned from people enjoying what you made. Nothing made you happier than to see people praise and appreciate what you loved to do, and so it was just an added bonus that you could make money from it.
All orders you received were packaged in your own front room. Stacks of drawers filled with stickers, envelopes, cards and products framed the wall of your study. As you were preparing to fill out a surge of overnight orders, your doorbell sounded. Of course, it was your best friend.
Jungkook didnât often make surprise visits, but they were always welcome when they took place. For once, you couldnât even fake a smile to greet him; the stress of your task was already getting to you and you hadnât even started, âCome see what Iâm doing.â
You led him through to the room where youâd only laid out the tens of coloured envelopes you were ready to use. His dropped jaw and widened doe eyes demonstrated the same level of shock you felt. Sighing in disbelief of your task, you buried your face into his chest, âI didnât think it would ever get this big.â
After evaluating the situation before him and considering the amount of time he had, Jungkook proposed an offer to you that was impossible to deny, âIf you teach me how, Iâll help you. It looks like fun, really!â
You rolled your eyes at his constant enthusiasm, of course still glad he had it, âYou wonât be saying that in 10 minutes time, I promise.â

Fandom: Detroit become human | Ship: Reed900 | AU: Cyberpunk AU
âQuick, get in!â Gavin leaned on the passenger seat to hold the door open, as he watched Nines run towards him at full speed. The android jumped in, smashing the door close and Gavin drove off with screeching tires, while their pursuers desperately tried to get a good shot at them before they could disappear. But Gavin drifted around the next corner, accelerating again and taking several tight turns to lose anyone who might follow them. All the while Nines sat next to him laughing and cheering. Gavin looked into the rear-view mirror and relaxed a little as he couldnât see anyone following them. He smirked, unable to be angry with the android although he likely should have been. As soon as they had made it on the highway, Gavin slowed down and weaved the car in between regular traffic.
âHow many times do I have to save you?â, he finally spoke a bit more serious. âOh, come onâ, Nines purred, leaning over. âYou are just too good at that, it would be a shame letting that talent go to waste.â Gavin turned his face towards Nines for a split second and smiled, pushing just a little on the gas. âYou better start getting a talent for staying out of trouble, my friend.â Nines laid his hand on his chest and looked accusingly at Gavin. âDo you see any bullet wound? I stayed out of trouble.â âYeah, and that gang will just forget about you doing⊠What even were you doing, Nines?â âItâs a secretâ, the android winked at him and leaned back in his seat. âDespite I really donât think they would dare retaliate against us.â âAnd why should that be?â âGavin, we could buy their whole organisation. I doubt they would dare attacking us openly.â Gavin huffed. âDidnât look that way when they were running after you.â
âHey, Iâm fine, okay?â, Nines tried to change topics. âAnd I got what I needed from them.â âAlright, Taxi Gavin reporting for duty, where can I bring you?â âStop with the sass, you get your fair share for this too. Just drive on, I have to hide it for the client in the city. I will give you directions.â Gavin just sighed and turned up the radio.
âWhat even is it with all that random side jobs youâre doing?â, Gavin asked standing next to the car while Nines hid a small package in the remains of some homeless personâs deserted shelter under a bridge. âIf I didnât know any better, Iâd say you wanted to get rid of me.â Nines stood up and stretched, smiling at the human. âQuite the opposite. Iâm making sure we will do this together for a long time coming.â âAlrightâ, Gavin chuckled, opening the door to the car. âAnd when will I be part of all the fun again?â âTake a breakâ, Nines told him as he joined him inside. âFor once in your life enjoy it. I will tell you soon enough.â âItâs not because of Cyberlife, is it?â âNo. Elijah keeps his promise. For now, at least. And if he chooses to change that, I still have the backup of RA9 I can manipulate him with. Weâre safe.â âGood to hear. Can we go home then?â âYes. Iâm done for today.â
They drove through the city, various neon signs glowing down on them and advertising the latest product you had to get immediately. Not too long ago, Gavin had lived in an old dilapidated house at the edge of the city. Once the dream of families with jobs in the city, the suburbs had now fallen into poverty and were taken over by criminal activity as the police didnât care to patrol there anymore. Not when all the important people with money and influence were living in fancy apartments in the highest floors and everyone that still dreamed of getting there was packed like sardines in the mega-buildings. Now they were driving into their very own parking spot in a garage that had tighter CCTV as any street out there. Â With only a short walk to the elevator, they were arriving at their flat in a matter of minutes.
Gavin exhaled with the satisfying clicking of the lock and the low hum of their security systems. The largest part of their Cyberlife money had been invested into this flat and the security measures and Gavin was thankful for it as it would at least get them more time should the corporation â or any other fraction for that part â decide to attack them. Nines walked up to the large glass front of their living room â reinforced to withhold everything up to a rocket launcher â and took off his white jacket he had exchanged his Cyberlife uniform with. Gavin watched how he pulled on the fabric of the tight turtleneck underneath and swallowed as he saw Ninesâ smirk. Phcking all-seeing bastardâŠ
He walked up to the kitchen and heated up the leftovers from yesterdayâs meal, joining Nines on the sofa while eating. âAlright, I will go take a quick shower and go to bed. How about you?â âIâll skip straight to the bed part and warm it up for youâ, the android muttered and took Gavinâs hand to pull him in for a kiss on his temple. âDonât let me wait too long.â
As Gavin slid under the sheets, Nines had indeed warmed up the space comfortably. With his heated skin from the long shower, the softness was like heaven. The androidâs hands in his hair gently massaging his scalp an added bonus. The man relaxed completely, closing his eyes as Nines dimmed the lights and switched them off completely. And with how tired he was and how good just lying there like that felt, he decided he would think about everything that happened tomorrow, if at all.
~
Gavin was woken up by the sun shining through the clouds directly into his face. Groaning, he slapped an arm over his face and turned, only to see that the other side of the bed was empty. He frowned. âNines?â, he called into the flat, slowly sitting up and rubbing his eyes. As he didnât get an answer, he shrugged and stood up piking up some lose-fit pants from the floor to wear. He yawned heartily as he walked up to the kitchen to make himself a coffee. His fingers hadnât yet hit the button as his eyes finally noticed the post it note stuck to it.
Good morning, darling. Iâm off for the day, but it shouldnât take long. Donât worry, Iâll stay out of trouble for today. -9
Gavin took the little piece of paper and leaned against the counter, reading it again. He sighed, flinging it behind his back and getting back to his coffee. It was okay, it could happen, he told himself. Nines could do whatever he wanted. That was fine. He let himself fall onto the couch, sipping his coffee and cursing at himself for being so impatient as it was still far too hot. Maybe he had gotten a call by Fowler or any other Fixer in the city. Maybe he was preparing for a job. Maybe he was just out to buy some more equipment, who knew?
He shouldnât worry. But he did. He had been betrayed a fair share in his life already and he had always been prepared should his recent partner do the same. But Nines was different. He wouldnât do that, right? He couldnât imagine the android doing that. And there was no reason for him to do so. They were a good team, made for each other since their very first mission together. There was no reason for Nines to leave him behind, right? âPhckâ, Gavin cursed. If Nines did do that, it would destroy him. He knew it.
He sat there almost the entire day, watching the news, reading up the truth behind the mediaâs lies and checking in with the gang territories and job offers. After that it was cooking for himself, going for a short drive and after that: waiting. Until the android came back home. Because he needed to know. He would confront him today.
He perked up when the door unlocked with a familiar click and the android entered the room. âGavin, Iâm-â He stopped as he saw the man sitting in front of him, eyes fixed sternly on himself. âIâm homeâ, he finished in a more appropriate volume and shut the door. âWelcome backâ, Gavin said. âWe need to talk.â Nines grimaced at that but nodded. âOkay. Just a moment.â He hung up his jacket on the next chair and joined Gavin on the couch. âWhat did you want to talk about?â
âI need to know what is going onâ, Gavin decided to get right to business. âI need to know what you are doing and why you keep disappearing like this without any information. Sorry.â Nines let his head rest in his hands for a moment, then lifted it out with a sigh, looking over to Gavin. âI know how this might look like, Gavin, but I can only tell you it isnât what you thinkâ, he began. âHell, that makes it sound even worse now. I canât tell you what Iâm doing.â âAlright.â Gavin was short of standing up and leaving, but Nines grabbed his arm and gently pleaded him to stay with him. âListen, I canât tell you yet. Iâm asking for two more days of your patience. Friday evening I will show you what Iâve been working on the past weeks, okay? It will all make sense then, donât worry. Iâm not leaving you behind or plan on betraying you. But I canât tell you what it is, yet.â âSo a surprise, huh?â, Gavin asked not at all satisfied with the answer. âYesâ, Nines grinned and his smile reassured Gavin a little. âYes, you could call it that.â
~
Friday evening was coming faster than thought, even if Gavin spent most of the time alone in their flat or out drinking in a bar. But that evening, Nines had told him to wear something comfortable and snatched the keys to his car from him as they left the flat. Now, Gavin was sitting in the passenger seat of his own car feeling weirdly out of place. âSo where are we driving?â, he asked finally. Nines smiled at him and just asked in return: âI thought you knew these streets?â âYeah, I know weâre driving out of the city. I donât know where you plan on bringing me though.â âYouâll see. You just have to wait a little longer.â
Gavin spat some expletives his way in his mind and sighed, obviously uncomfortable. They had long left the city behind them and it dawned on Gavin where they were going. As Nines turned on the dusty road that would lead them to a very familiar hill, Gavin frowned. âThe shed? What are you planning?â Nines just chuckled and parked the car behind the bushes like Gavin had done before. âDo you know it has been a year now?â, the android asked him and stepped out of the car.
âExactly a year?â âYes.â Nines helped him out of the car and led him towards the shed. âWait.â The android stopped him and watched the shed that lit up on command. The roof had been fixed and a few lightbulbs dangled from cables fastened to it. A few insects buzzed around the light sources and Nines hurried inside, leaving Gavin standing there admiring the comfy yet out of place looking decoration. As the android came back, he held a box and walked towards the tree, beckoning Gavin to follow him. In one swift motion Nines placed a blanket on the dried grass and leaned a few pillows against the tree. Then he sat down and looked up at Gavin expectantly.
âWhat is this all?â, Gavin asked sceptically. âJust sit downâ, Nines laughed and patted the ground at his side. Slowly, Gavin approached and sat down. Even before he was fully seated, Nines had pulled a few bottles out of the box as well as plates with snacks. âSeriously, what is this all?â, Gavin asked, by now more perplexed than suspicious. âI believe you could call it a picknick, darlingâ, Nines explained. âExactly one year ago, we were sitting here and didnât know what to do next. You changed my life that day and I canât say I regret it.â âAndâŠ?â âAnd I really like how that new life turned out in the end. Thought it was a reason to celebrate.â
Gavin just stared at the android. âWait. Wait a moment. You disappearing all the time⊠How did this lead up to this?â âDo you know how difficult it is to get real lightbulbs in a city that relies on neon lights? Everything calming and warm is ridiculously expensive, because some people intentionally push up the prize. I thought to change that by breaking in, getting what I need and sell the rest.â âYou⊠You didnât really run face first in gang hideouts just to plan a picknick, did you?!â Nines shrugged at Gavinâs incredulous eyes.
âI wanted the best for today. The wine is made from real grapes, itâs not that synth-stuff you get at every bar. As is everything else. I could have either spent all our money on this or get them myself. It was easier.â âHoly shit and I thought you were ratting me out for some kind of deal!â, Gavin called out in embarrassment. âI would neverâ, Nines grinned. âAlthough I do have some kind of deal for you, darling.â
Gavin looked up to the android and lifted a brow. âReally?â âYes. Gavin, we have lived together for a year now and I canât imagine a life without you. And considering how high the chances of an untimely death are in our business, I think itâs long overdue that I asked you.â âAsked me what?â, Gavin asked, not believing what was about to happen.
Nines simply turned around to him and pulled something out of his pocket. It was a tiny silver ring made from what looked like parts of machinery. âWhat is that?â, the human asked and couldnât keep his eyes from it. âA ring, dumbass. Remember that Job from Fowler last month?â âYes. How could I forget that? You nearly died!â Nines nodded and took Gavinâs hand in his. âThat settled it for me. The ring is made from my damaged part and I want you to have it. If you want it.â âWhat exactly are you asking, Nines?â Nines looked up to him and he saw his LED turning at insane speed. âGavin Reed. Do you want to marry me?â
Gavin stared at him, then at the ring and lastly at his surroundings. Who was he kidding here, he had hoped for his dream to come true, but he still couldnât believe it as he saw it right before his very own eyes. Grinning like crazy, he dove in for a kiss instead and only afterwards panted: âYes! Yes, I would love to.â Nines couldnât hide his own smile and pushed the ring onto Gavinâs finger where it lit up in the same colour and rhythm as the androidâs LED. âI love you, Gavinâ, he whispered, brushing his thumb over the ring before pulling the human in a tight hug, the man returned in equal strength. âI love you too, tin-canâ, Gavin laughed and looked down on the ring over Ninesâ shoulder.
He really was far too lucky for this world. But he wouldnât ever think about complaining.

Wisdom from Years of Android Development
Source of Information: Android Classes In Pune
I still keep in mind that day back in 2014 once I chose to begin Android growth, and this was among the greatest decisions I required in my entire life. It's been approximately two and a half a year today and that I had the opportunity to understand and un-learn a good deal of items in Android.
Originally when I began, I did not have a mentor or someone who could direct me to do things the ideal way. Â I have done a LOT of errors and wasted a great deal of time later rectifying them.
Afterwards, after one and a half a year, I have the opportunity to use some really gifted and expert Android programmers, who advised me and allow me to shape matters in a far greater manner. Â Both these stages helped me find out a hell lot of stuff in the tricky way. Â
It's been quite a while I have been attempting to assist other programmers in a sense possible for me personally, indirectly and directly. Â
In the following guide, I'll be sharing a few of the gems I have gathered lately. Â It may help a person to get started quicker rather than repeat the mistakes which I did.
Disclaimer: I could largely be focussing on Android plus a few notions of product and programming development within the following guide, so if you aren't acquainted with some of them, you may rather not read any farther. Â Others, just dip. Â :--RRB-
Do not Reinvent the Wheel
Originally I had a lousy notion of not utilizing open-source libraries. Whatever I wanted, I only wanted to make it . Â It has was severely a terrible thought.
When you've got a problem whilst creating your program, and if this problem was solved by another person earlier and in a fantastic way, why don't you use this? You may save yourself a good deal of time.
Focus on the core business logic of your program. Â If you wish to create network calls on your program, you do not have to earn a Retrofit yourself.
Bonus: Android Arsenal keeps a record of nearly all of Android libraries made. Go take a look.
Pick Libraries Wisely
You will find lots and a lot of open-source libraries out there in Github that you use at no cost. Â But do not get too excited and begin using libraries .
Assess the amount of celebrities that library gets, the greater the better. Assess whether the writer of the library also have established some other popular libraries too. Â Verify the topics (both closed and open ), which may provide you a clearer idea of how powerful and secure the library is in creation.
If you're able to spend the time, then you ought to dip into the code of the library and assess yourself whether its really worthwhile.
You only wish to make certain that the code you're likely to use is dependable, bug-free and high quality.
Pro Suggestion: Try any library hosted straight from the command line with Dryrun.
If you aren't doing this, START today.
Whatever code you're in a position to write now is simply because you've read and heard something, somewhere, someday. Â It is only a manifestation of what you know. Â You may just grow and improve your self by studying and learning from other's work.
The fantastic thing about Android is the fact that it's an entirely open-source platform. Â Dive in the code and assess how they've implemented the frame. Â There are hundreds and hundreds of open minded libraries in Github. Â Simply select a library and find out the way the programmer have employed it.
Bonus: here's a curated collection of a few of the greatest libraries and here's a list of nearly all accessible Android programs out there. Â You're welcome:--RRB-
Should you compare coding together with composing, then coding criteria is similar to your own handwriting.
Since you'd be studying more of the others code, other folks are also studying a great deal of your code and you do not wish to frighten the shit from these, do you really? Â And if you're working within a business and cooperating with other programmers greatly, do take particular care of it.
Write brief, readable and clean code which you and people reading your code will like thoroughly. Â Your code should read as a narrative.
Do not complain if you compose a bit of code along with your coworkers do not speak to you for a couple of days.
You Want ProGuard, YesYou Want It!
ProGuard not just minifies your code, but it also obfuscates your code which makes it tougher for reverse-engineers to comprehend, replicate and control it.
Its free and comes bundled with all the Android SDK, and there's simply no reason for you to not use it.
I've observed many developers releasing their program in the marketplace with no ProGuard. Â It shouldn't require more than a couple of hours to get a not-so-skilled hacker to control an the program published without Proguard.
Pro Suggestion: But if you'd like top-notch protection, then ProGuard is just like a cardboard at the same time you want a secure, and here it's, DexGuard.
Use a Suitable Architecture
You may thank yourself for choosing a suitable structure in the first location.
It's possible to utilize MVP (Model-View-Presenter) structure that may decouple your code to various easy-to-manage layers thereby enhancing code flexibility and significantly reducing maintenance period.
There's a good demo job for you to begin. Â And if you're having trouble grasping it, here's a thorough guide for the novices.
Bonus: Do provide a check out this, this and most significantly this. Â Every one these can help you in executing MVP on your undertaking. Â User Interface Is just like a Joke, Should You Need to Explain It, It Is Bad
Should you work for any company playing the use of"only" a Android programmer, you likely won't have to be overly concerned about that, since there really are UI/UX designers to look after this.
However, if you're a single programmer, you have to get this directly in your mind. Â I've seen programmers creating really great programs with good performance, however, the UI looks horrible along with the UX makes it a hassle to use.
Layout a clean, easy and gorgeous interface that's easy on the eyes. Â You shouldn't just think as a programmer, instead you need to focus on igniting the concealed designer in you.
Attempt to make a lasting impression in your customers by designing a gorgeous UI, so they return to your program more frequently than others and often convert more (purchase your premium variant ( possibly ).
You ought to find a kick by eliminating elements from your own design, instead of adding. Â Keep it minimal and clean.
And there's this book you probably would really like to see if you want to know more about design.
Analytics Is Your Very Best Friend
If you would like to produce a really amazing program, then you have to heavily rely on analytics programs to assess the operation and utilization of different sections of your program.
By analytics, I refer to both the collision reporting and program usage monitoring and you want both of these.
Anything you do, you can't ever make something ideal. Â When actual users will begin using your program on various Android apparatus and on different Android variants available, you may also find a few of the greatest written code to drop flat on the floor.
Crash reporting programs can allow you to monitor and fix themone crash at one time.
You also will need to begin thinking like a marketer and also examine the use of various elements of your program. Â This is what's going to allow you to bridge the gap between what you've created and what your customers' actually desire.
Pro Suggestion: I strongly suggest looking for the crash reporting tool in Instabug. Â You're going to appreciate it.
Make a Marketing Ninja If you're a single programmer, you need to consider beyond being"a programmer" and need to understand marketing too.
I've observed great products fail because of lack of suitable marketing, and also the not-so-good ones become hugely successful only because of fantastic advertising.
If you're seriously interested in your work and need it to reach a huge audience, you want to spend your time and cash in properly advertising your program. But prior to beginning your marketing and advertising campaigns, make certain your program is totally stable with all attributes prepared. Â You need maximum conversions out of each penny you pay, right?
Spend some time exploring who your opponents are and how you can overcome them. Identify the ones you're able to compete quickly as well as also the ones which you need to keep aside for a long term struggle.
Pro Suggestion: This is an inexpensive market evaluation instrument, I really like to use.
It Is Time to Boost Your Program
This is something which the majority of us don't do, however, you need to and you want to.
Write code which runs fast, takes less memory and absorbs less apparatus storage.
An unoptimized program works well under ordinary conditions, but when placed to various stressful circumstances, it may show you its true colours.
Bear in mind, a very small leak can sink a large ship. Â Spend some time on knowing how the Garbage Collector works in Java, produce heap dumps and examine your live items.
Pro Suggestion: Use Leak Canary to discover your memory flows. Â It can save a great deal of time by accomplishing this job for you.
Save Over 5 Hours Each Week with Gradle Builds
It is very very possible that you're utilizing Android Studio to create Android programs and utilizing Gradle as your own build platform. Â Gradle is excellent but its slow and it becomes much thinner than a snail as soon as your job size begins to increase in proportion.
I recall the countless hours I've wasted just sitting and awaiting the Gradle assembles to complete. Â On hefty workouts, I wasted around one hour just Gradle assembles and that is like 5 hours each week draining the gutter.
However, there are ways to speed this up too.
It is possible to stick to this and this article to greatly enhance your construct rates. Â My construct time fell from 4 minutes to less than 30 minutes following appropriate optimization.
Evaluation, Evaluation and When You're Finished, Test Again!
There isn't anything more significant than testing. Â This is something which needs to be on very top of your list.
Test your program as completely as you can. Â Create various stressful scenarios for your program and see whether it can endure.
I'd formerly made the mistake of publishing my program from rush and did not spend appropriate time analyzing it. Â I had been waiting for my customers to confront bugs, report it and then I'd go and mend them.
You may spare a day, or 2, or per week by cutting time from studying, but will most likely have to spend over double afterwards.
Make a visionary. Â Sow today, reap afterwards.
There are a massive assortment of all Android devices with different display sizes and hardware specifications from plenty of different apparatus manufactures that personalize the OS for their heart's content.
Added to this are the a variety of Android variants at which Google adds/removes API performance from nowhere to raise your workload further (an example here).
By way of instance, not just one Android programmer has completed a program without using SharedPreferences API. Â It is so common, however it had been broken up in Samsung Galaxy S using Android 2.2 (bug report ).
Spend additional time creating different designs for different screen dimensions. Â Evaluation on various apparatus, having different variations, different specifications and from various OEMs.
Never presume something could work, simply as it appears so.
Start with Git, Now!
If you're still not utilizing Git, go right ahead and begin using it straight away.
Once I began Android advancement, I was unlucky enough to not understand exactly what the fudge Git was. Â I used to replicate my whole project regular and keep 1 backup in my hard disk and another from the cloud. Â Seems foolish? Â Yes, it was.
Git can radically enhance your workflow. Â If a person asks me to mention a tool I use everyday and can not quit using? It is Git and Git each time.
And likely after using it for a couple of days you'd fall in love with it and wish to understand how Git works tirelessly, so here it's prepared for you.
And after some time, you'd be starting a large project your self and get confused about how you should keep a suitable branching model, so that you go.
Bonus: If you're only starting out and can not manage to pay the monthly subscription fee for keeping private repositories from GitHub, it is possible to attempt BitBucket which permits you to do this free of charge.
Make It Hard for the Hackers
The open minded nature of Android is exactly what makes it susceptible to attacks.
You do not need it to happen for your program, right?
You ought to be aware of how to safely store API keys everywhere on your program. If you're managing sensitive information from those consumers, then you have to understand how to encrypt themwhat algorithm to select (secure yet quickly ).
It's also advisable to keep the encryption keys safely in the host or locally (if desired ). Â If you're storing sensitive information in the database, then think about obfuscating it.
If your program includes a premium version that gets cracked and has published at no cost. Â You'd incur a critical reduction in company, right?
There are many things you can do to stop your program from becoming tampered. There's not anything like 100% safety. Any proficient and recognized hacker with the proper tools, patience and tools may crack your program.
Whatever you need to do is make it hard, rather very tricky for the hacker to decode it.
A luxury apparatus will hide a great deal of flaws while creating your program. Suppose you're doing something from the UI thread that makes its way to get a laggy UI, however onto a potent device, you might never ever observe that.
A classic, low-end apparatus, dumped with a lot of programs makes it perfect for a development apparatus. Â
That is an investment which will pay you eternally.
Whilst creating large and intricate programs, you may face some common issues that have probably been solved before by somebody more capable than you, that is when designing patterns comes in to play.
Here's a Github job that shows all of the design patterns known to humanity.
Looks like a great deal? Â It really is not. Â You'll begin enjoying them after you dip in.
It Is Time to Give Back
Most of us have a great deal of assistance from folks around us and by the net. Lets declare it. Â When you have a issue, the very first thing you'd do is Google that and find the very first link from StackOverflow. Â Sometimes you're in a rush and you wind up copying and pasting the alternative in the response with the greatest votes.
Ever believed the amount of libraries you're using from Github free of charge and the way in which they have significantly reduced your development efforts and time. Â Its because somebody somewhere has taken the opportunity to construct it and donate to make the community better.
Recall the day, if you had been stuck in knowing a challenging idea or something that's completely new to you, and you wind up finding an wonderful blog post that made it super simple for you. Â Its because someone skipped a film date and wrote this post.
We're active in our work and also we find it too hard to handle time and do something for others. Â But try to get some time each week to donate and make this particular Android community wealthier.
I've attempted to discuss a few of the lessons I have discovered in this brief journey with Android improvement. Â I'll continue my trip, find out more and share more. Â I hope it will help somebody and makes their life somewhat simpler.

Whumptober 20: Trembling
Guess who's back in this story.
This fills @stephenstrangebingoâ for "Curse" (and my first bingo on that card, finally).
If you want to get a feel for Narrator before diving into this, you can read his unpleasantness in #2: Explosion and #7: Isolation. It's not required to read those to understand this story, though.
Warnings: Nothing I can think of in particular, other than that the narrator delights in the suffering of others.
20. Trembling
Oh, you won't believe what happenedâ I mean it! You won't believe the gift I had dropped right in my lap just now. Sit still and listen for a second. I mean, time hardly matters here anyway, does it? So justâ just listen. I need to share this with someone.
Now as you know, I get a lot of calls for favours and deals. It's what I do, what I look for, and it certainly keeps the place populated, which is the entire point of the business. Without a population, this whole dimension would eventually wither and fade, and where would that leave me? You get it.
Souls are what keep the realm going. While minor demons are useful, it is the souls from mortal planes that have power, though most mortals are completely oblivious to the vast amount of energy within their souls. And me, well, I have found that I have a taste for human souls. There's something about their capacity to be so good, only to fall to the most depraved acts imaginable that makes my metaphorical heart sing in joy.
Take the human I just met. He was rather bitter about being kicked out of his little group and wanted revenge on the leader. This is rather par for the course when it comes to those calling upon my dimension for some sort of task or power, so I let one of the grunts handle it.
The grunt came back and gave me the details and I nearly danced in joy. Gave the grunt a soul to play with; grunts that just know when I'm not needed and when I am needed are hard to come by, and I want him to know I appreciate it; can't have him being poached by some other entity.
So here I go up, putting on the shape the grunt was wearing for the job (which turned out to be more human-like than I usually go with, but that's fine), and to the human that reached out to us it doesn't look like anything's changed at all. For all he knows, he's talking to the same demon.
A quick review of the conversation so far later, I offer the summoner a sympathetic smile. "Tell me more about this Stephen Strange," I said, as if I didn't know anything about him. Play a bit dumb here and there, and humans grow much more comfortable around you, as if you're one of them. It's just adorable.
"He's an egotistical asshole," the summoner spat, "who has no business being the Sorcerer Supreme!"
I admit I had forgotten that they promoted him after that tiff with Nightmare (who's still the same moron he was five hundred Earth years ago, so you're not missing anything with him) and Strange had certainly proved himself capable enough. So for someone reaching out to me to help take down him?
Yeah, you see why I'm just so damn pleased.
Anyway, he went on with this and that, explaining that he didn't deserve to be kicked out of Kamar-Taj, that Strange was an idiot, et cetera, et cetera. You know how summoners can get. I let him rant for a few minutes until he finally stopped for a breath, and then I asked him, "What do you want to do?"
"Make him pay," the summoner replied.Â
I must say, I kept my calm quite impressively at his useless answer. No good at blowing up at a summoner before we seal a deal, after all. "What would you like in order to accomplish that?" I asked quite patiently.
The summoner paused a moment, and really, I don't quite understand how some of these summoners are ready to sell their souls without a concise idea of what they exactly want prepared. While vague requests such as "power" and "wealth" are incredibly convenient for me, sometimes something more planned out would be a nice change of pace.
He eventually answered, "He has this doctor friend who knew him from before that comes to the New York Sanctum to still see him from time to time. Once even went to Kamar-Taj. I don't know if they're sleeping together or what, but Strange definitely cares for her. I want her cursed. Take her soul to tear him apart."
I admit, I was impressed by his thinking. I was expecting the usual "powers to destroy him" or something of the sortâ you know how it tends to goâ but this was a creativity I could appreciate. Curses and soul-taking, however? Two different things. "I can take her with me. Call that the curse." Not her soul alone, naturally, but I didn't say that I'd take her soul. But you know how humans are: they hear what they want to hear. "Do you know her name?"
"Palmer. Doctor Christine Palmer," he confirmed.
I could have found it myself if need be, of course, but he certainly sped up the process. "I will take Doctor Christine Palmer from this world, and in return, your soul comes to me upon your death." I then offered my hand
He didn't even hesitate! He gripped my hand and said, "Deal," and that was that. Soul in the bag. And what a treat to secure it!
Oh, yeah, I've already done as he asked. How could I help myself? It was a simple task and I was already on the mortal planeâ and I had a bit of fun in the process, too.
I located the woman quickly in her apartment and put on the guise of Doctor Strange before appearing before her. She jumped and frowned at my sudden appearance, but as she has no skills in sorcery, immediately believed me to be him. "Stephen!" she said with a frown. "I told you not to portal into my apartment! You need to knock unless I say otherwise."
"There's not much time," I said, and her frown turned into a look of confusion. "You're in danger. You need to come with me."
She was worried, of course, and asked me, "What? Stephen, what's happening?"
"We need to go," I said. "Come with me." I then offered her my hand to take. You see where this is going.
Of course she took my hand. Interestingly enough, the moment she took it she realized something was not right; I could see it in her expression. And she told me, "Your hand isn't trembling."
Whoops; my bad, right? But the hard part was already done; she gave me her hand. She tried to pull it away, of course, but, well, it was something of a pathetic struggle on her part. "Stephen, let me go."
I decided to let the guise from my face fall and said, "No, I don't think so," as I looked back at her.
It's been a long time since I've heard such a wonderfully terrified mortal scream. It's really made me consider that I should go out and take a few more summonings rather than having the grunts do all of them, or at least find some interesting fulfillments.
The woman? Oh, she's fine. I just have her sleeping. She's not really important in this, after all. She's only a prop for the real prize. And I left Strange enough hints that I expect he will be summoning me in no time at all.
ââââÂ
Oh, here we go. And a summoning to force me to come in person rather than giving me the ability to send a grunt in my stead; well done, Strange. But I was coming prepared.
A bit of a pull, and I found myself within a very well-warded and power-containing summoning circle. They put up runes to attempt to force my true self, but I've been able to beat those for over a thousand years, now.
So instead of facing the form that I tend to wear in my dimension, Strange and four other sorcerers were faced with the visage of the woman who called herself The Ancient One. And the expression on their faces? Absolutely priceless.
The one I knew as Hamir spoke first. "Reveal your true form."
"I don't think I will," I said, giving the sorcerers a small smile. I ran a hand over my currently bald head; not personally a look I'd go for myself, but I suppose it added to her enigma.
The woman called Minoru tried to cast a spell to remove my form and oh, that was precious. The summoning circle contained my power, but within its bounds? Her spells were nothing.
"What is your name, demon?" asked Hamir.
"It is mine, for now," I said. Let them think they were dealing with a lesser demon for now; I was saving my reveal for later.
Strange, now, Strange was outright trembling in rage. An unexpected bonus; I was expecting something more stoic. "What do you want with Christine?" he asked, and I appreciated his candour. Straight to the point.
"I don't want anything with her," I answered. "Unfortunately for her, someone didn't like her all that much and cursed her soul to my realm."
"No," said the sorcerer named Wong. "Demons can only entrap souls within their realms that deliberately submit to their will. You cannot contain her soul."
"Ah, someone's done their homework," I said, but I admit I was delighted; it is so difficult to come across anything remotely challenging in my existence, and dealing with sorcerers that understood how it worked? What can I say; it was a breath of fresh air. "You are correct; her soul is not mine. But there are no rules against containing her living body within my realm until her soul sees fit to depart. Usually it's not worth the effort, but a curse is a curse." It really wasn't worth the effort; humans had to eat and drink all the time and it was just so much busy work. I'll stick to souls, thank you very much.
The newly minted Sorcerer Supreme was staring at me with narrowed eyes; the trembling had lessened, but it was thereâ oh, and especially in his hands. I see why the woman saw, or rather felt, the difference. "But this is not a curse in the usual sense of the term. You cannot curse physical bodies to other dimensions. Someone must have made a bargain with you."
Oh, what a true delight! Doctor Strange lived up to his growing reputation. "Quite so."
His eyes remained narrow. "I would bargain for her safe return to Earth." Beside him, Hamir stiffened in dismay.
I gave Strange a toothy grin, which, upon the face of the Ancient One, seemed to disturb the sorcerers gathered; that was amusing. "A small price of a soul would do it in a heartbeat."
Before he could answer, Wong immediately said, "Rejected. A mortal lifetime is not of the same value as a soul for an eternity."
Damn. Well, it was worth a shot. Strange, though, Strange was unable to hide his pain and anger at Wong's comment. Interesting.
"Can't blame me for trying," I said in turn. "Still, I am willing to bargain with you." I set my focus on Strange. "But bargain with you alone and in my own realm. Besides, you want to see your friend, yes?"
He did not answer immediately, and from what I could tell, they were communicating silently with each other. The summoning circle was strong enough that I could not intrude upon their thoughts, sadly, but I knew what the answer was going to be. Even if the other four sorcerers were against him, Strange was more than stubborn enough not to listen to them.
Eventually Strange answered, "I agree to bargain with you within your realm concerning Christine Palmer's safe return."
Carefully worded. Not an idiot. This was going to be fun. "Come with me," I said, offering my hand out.
Strange spared a last glance at the other sorcerers before walking towards me. Sadly he did not take my hand, but again, he knew what he was doing. I have to say I was just a bit giddy for the challenge.
I set my hand on his shoulder and said, "Cut the cord." I could feel Strange exhale under my hand, and with a gesture he extinguished all wards that forced me to the mortal plane. We were pulled through the multiverse together and the blink of an eye later, we were within my dimension.
I let the guise of the Ancient One fall from my visage and I grew in height and my skin reddened as I shifted into my chosen form for my home dimension. Strange was tense under my hand that had yet to leave his shoulder; he looked at his surroundings with a completely stoic expression, but I could feel the despair edging in. And he hadn't even looked at my shifting form yet.
Once I became me again, I finally introduced myself, like a proper host should. "I am Mephisto," I said, and I couldn't help but grin. "Welcome to Hell."
Quick question: Naturally this series isnât done yet, but I havenât decided if I want to continue in the Narratorâs (well, Mephistoâs) POV or if I should go back to my usual third person limited with Stephen. Any opinions?
Oh and Mephistoâs characterization is basically all inspired by the Damnation arc. I adore how he was written in that arc.

Hi, everyone! Iâm Susie, Iâm 21 years old in the EST timezone (I actually live on the Space Coast of Florida so when I saw this RPâs location I was like âeyyyyyy!â), and this is my girl ZADIE BRIGHT. Iâll be using small/medium gifs for her, and her info (and some basic connection ideas) are below the cut. I probably wonât be on Discord much, but you can always reach me through the IMs.
Trigger warning for mentions of abuse, drug use, alcoholism.
hey, guess who i just saw at ELMERTON RADIO STATION? ZADIE BRIGHT! donât they look good for 42 years old? they have lived here for 3 YEARS and ARE a TALK SHOW HOST. they view the increase in tourism as POSITIVE and LIKE the retirees who moved here. a pinterest board of them would include SMUDGED MAKEUP, FAKE SMILES, AND MUFFLED MUSIC. â° RACHEL MCADAMS â FEMALE â SHE/HER â±
BASIC INFORMATION
full name: Zadie Rebecca Bright
birthday: March 30, 1977
gender, pronouns: female, she/her
sexual orientation: bisexual
personality type: ENFJ
zodiac sign: Aries
family: Harrison Bright (father, deceased), Amy Bright (mother), Anthony Bright (brother), Connor Bright (son)
hogwarts house: Slytherin
occupation: singer (former), actress (former), talk show host
BACKSTORY
Zadie was born in Los Angeles, to a record producer father and a makeup artist mother. Her father died when she was five, so she has very few memories of him.
Zadieâs mother is *Jean-Ralphio voice* the wooooooorst!
Just. The WORST person in the world.
Zadie had an obvious talent for singing and dancing at a young age, and had the added bonus of being cute as a button, so her mother started signing her up for pageants and talent shows when she was only a kid.
Zadie got signed to be on a TV show similar to Mickey Mouse Club when she was only seven, and hasnât attended ârealâ school since. She was an audience favorite because of her bubbly, outgoing personality.
When she got too old to be on the show anymore, Zadieâs mom began shopping her around to various talent agents, eventually securing one when she was twelve.
After a few small roles on TV and in movies, Zadieâs first album came out when she was 14 years old.
Zadie quickly became a favorite subject of media attention, both for her talent, and because she had a reputation for being... a lot.
Zadie has a bit of a temper, and is prone to mood swings. She was generally pretty nice, but also a bit of a primadonna. Not helping matters is that she had an alcohol problem at a young age, and her mother put her on various drugs to keep her âproductiveâ (and thin).
Zadieâs mother also had a reputation for being an absolute nightmare to work with. She was also known to hit Zadie and be emotionally abusive, pushing her into jobs with known abusers.
All this eventually led to... The Meltdown.
The Meltdown happened when Zadie was 20 years old, when she completely lost her grip in the middle of a crowded restaurant and began screaming at her mother, her agent, and her producer, calling them out for their poor treatment of her. Unfortunately, someone got it on camera.
Although she continued to have success on the charts, Zadie became a media punchline. The tabloids mocked her substance abuse problems, as well as her promiscuity.
Her son Connor was born when she was 21 years old, and he is literally the light and joy of her life. Despite her turbulent personal life, Zadie was determined to be a good mom and get herself together for his sake. She quit drinking altogether, and made a public apology for her past behavior (as well as several private ones).
She decided to take a five-year hiatus from show business, against her motherâs wishes.
When she started to think her mother might be trying to push Connor into the spotlight like she did with her, Zadie LOST IT and kicked her mother out of her house, ceasing all contact.
Connor is such a mamaâs boy TBH. She will give that boy ANYTHING he wants and will talk about him at even the slightest prompting.
Zadie was very determined to give Connor a normal childhood. She moved to a nice suburb, enrolled him in an ordinary school, and forbade him from going into show business until he was at least sixteen.
Zadie continued to make sporadic TV appearances, and even had a couple cameos in movies, but hasnât been relevant since the early 2000s. Thatâs fine with her.
CURRENTLY
After Connor went off to college, the empty-nest syndrome immediately began to hit. So Zadie decided to move somewhere peaceful and quiet.
Although she has enough money to never have to work again, Zadie couldnât stand having nothing to do.
This led to the creation of Bright and Early, Zadieâs morning talk show, which is broadcast to the entire great state of Florida. (Except Jacksonville and Miami. But sheâs working on it.)
On Bright and Early, Zadie covers current events, interviews locals, and talks about the latest trends. Sheâll be the first to admit itâs not exactly great art, but it gives her something to do.
Outside of Florida, Zadieâs mostly known for her Twitter account, where she posts a shit-ton of memes. Strangely, millennial nihilistic deadpan humor actually works quite well with her.
MISC.
Sheâs a natural brunette but has been a blonde since she was 12.
She now knows herself well enough to know she cannot handle any mind-altering substances, and avoids all alcohol and drugs.
Zadieâs music can best be described as Britney Spears meets Spice Girls. Most of it is horrifically catchy.
I like to imagine Zadieâs been on a few âwhere are they now?â shows, as well as appeared in documentaries and the like, mostly to show the world that sheâs not a trainwreck anymore.
Sheâs been in Elmerton for 3 years, so most of the locals are probably used to her by now.
Sheâs willing to talk about her previous career, and even make jokes at her own expense, but it is not hyperbole to say sheâd rather jump out of a moving car than hear anything off her first two albums ever again.
(Seriously, sheâs literally done that when one of her first singles came on the radio. The traffic cops were very confused.)
She adores kids and lowkey yearns for the time when Connor was tiny and adorable and needed her for everything.
CONNECTION IDEAS
her ex-boyfriend who is probably Connorâs father (wc on the main!)
her older sibling (wc on the main!)
anyone who works on Bright and Early with her -- tech crew, co-hosts, frequent guests, anyone
someone who was also in the entertainment industry when they were young, and thus probably knew Zadieâs mom and probably witnessed The Meltdown firsthand
alternatively, someone whose parent was in the entertainment industry
Zadieâs best friend (who was probably there when she jumped out of the moving car)
someone who calls Zadie to come get them when theyâre drunk and canât drive home
someone who has kids or grandkids that Zadie babysits
someone Zadie met on a blind date
someone Zadie went on one or two dates with, and it didnât work out but now theyâre close friends

Changes ( II )
Genre: Angst, Fluff, CEO! AU, Idol AU
Pairing: Junmyeon x Reader x Baekhyun
Length: 2.6k
Changes Masterlist
Baekhyun was an idol under SM and one of the few friends you had made during your time there.
âDonât you have a schedule today?â A part of your job was not only assisting Suho but also keeping into account the schedules of idols and their activities.Â
âYou really think I was gonna leave you in the rain? I saw you on my way to the venue and had the car stop so I could get you.â This boy was truly too pure for the world. His concern and care was always with others. It was a feature of his that you absolutely adored. âWhy are you walking in the rain anyways?â
You wouldâve answered him, but how could you do that without exposing yourself and all you went through today? âWalking helps me think.â The answer was as true as it could get. Walking did help you think it just sucked that it so happened to rain today of all days.
âWell do you have a way home that doesnât require you catching pneumonia?âÂ
Sehun was currently in Daegu for some photo exhibit, all your friends were in Busan, and well the only other person you could think of was not an option anymore. Your head was facing the floor as you shook your head.
âWell listen iâm gonna be late to this photo shoot and if I am Xiumin and Chen will have my head. So why donât you just come with me and when itâs over iâll take you home.â
It probably wasnât the best plan but you knew Baekhyun wouldnât let you walk home in this weather and you couldnât risk making him late, so you agreed.
Seeing you nod your head created a wide smile on his face. Quickly he ran back to the parked van with your hand still in his. Now that you think of it, your hand never left his grasp since he first grabbed it.
The car was heated and you have never been more grateful in your life. Your hair and clothes were drenched from the rain and you still had the box of your things. It wasnât like Baekhyun didnât notice it, he chose not to ask about it because the timing just wasnât right.
After a 15 minute drive you reached the location that CBX would be doing their photo shoot at.
You were willing to sit in the car till he was finished but Baekhyun had a different idea. After he got out of the car he went around to your side and opened the door. You looked up at him to see him holding his hand out for you to hold on to. You werenât gonna ignore him, so you took it and got out of the car.
The rain was still falling and there was no sign that it was letting up anytime soon. Wasting no time you made your way into the studio where Xiumin and Chen were already starting their solo shoots. As soon as Baekhyun was spotted they hurried him to get ready. You were left alone not knowing what the hell to do or where the hell to go.
Eventually someone came out and led you to where Baekhyun was. You entered the dressing room to see people frantically rushing to get him ready for the shoot. From the mirror he could see you arrived and the smile on his face lit up.Â
âSo i checked with the staff they said it was ok to stay here while I go and do my shoot.â He was talking to you while looking through the mirror. You nodded and moved to sit down on the couch that was available in the room.
After his hair and makeup was done he got up and handed you his hoodie that he was wearing on his way over here. You looked up with him with a confused expression.Â
âYour clothes are drenched and if you stay in them any longer youâll catch a cold and thatâs the last thing anyone wants.â His kindness was overwhelming and you sure as hell didnât know what you did to deserve it. âWear this and the costume designer will loan you some pants to wear.â
Once again you didnât find the ability to say no to him, you nodded and accepted the hoodie. Soon after a lady came to you with leggings. You went into a bathroom to change into the clothes they gave you. The leggings were a good fit and Baeks hoodie was a bit too big on you but you liked the warmth and comfort it provided you.
By the time you came back to the room Baekhyun was gone. There was a note that read, âGet some restâ. You smiled at it because you loved the sincerity it held. You had been listening to him all day so why stop now? You laid down on the couch in an attempt to sleep. It helped that his hoodie smelled like him because it gave you a sense of security. You found it easier to sleep that way.
It wasnât necessarily a bad dream that you had but you did see someone you didnât want to in it. Slowly but surely you woke up to see Baekhyun crouched down in front of you giving you the gentlest of shakes to let you know it was time. You didnât know how long you were asleep for but it definitely helped.
His smile was beaming which couldnât help but affect yours. âListen I know I said iâd take you home after this but the boys want to go out to eat and asked you to come with.â. Going with the theme of today which was not saying no to him, you agreed. Besides you were starving and it was nice to eat with people who would bring up your mood.Â
Everyone said their thanks to the staff including you and they went on their way. You took the same car you came in and started the drive to the restaurant.Â
You knew how much Baekhyun hated silence, so to find him singing one of their new songs was no surprise to you. âDo you like it?â His gaze was fixed on yours.Â
You were quite confused because you didnât know what he was asking about. Your eyebrows furrowed showing that you were lost.Â
âThe song. Do you like it?â
âOf course i like it.â That was probably one of the most honest things to come out of your mouth today.Â
âChanyeol wrote it for us, itâs for the OST we are working on. Itâs top secret.â He put a finger to his lips indicating that you needed to keep quiet about what you heard.Â
It all made sense as to why the song was so good. Park Chanyeol had produced it. The people singing it were just an added bonus.Â
You laughed at the fact that Baekhyun would even think that you would leak anything. Even though you knew it was a joke, you hoped that him and the other boys trusted you enough to speak freely around you.Â
It was a short drive. Of course it would be somewhat empty, they werenât gonna bring one of the nations most precious idols to a full restaurant so they could be bombarded by fans.Â
You all piled into the small family owned business and ordered the food. Meat was an obvious choice for all 4 of you. You ordered a couple other side dishes to go with it and some alcohol which you were more thankful for than the rest.Â
While you waited for your food to come, Xiumin and Chen initiated small talk, asking how you ended up at the shoot in the first place. You began talking about how you were walking in the rain when Baekhyun saw you and picked you up. It seemed unbelievable to them.
âWait so you're telling me, Byun Baekhyun did something from the kindness of his heart?â Xiumin questioned with a smile on his face showing he was on the brink of laughter.Â
You didnât know what was so funny. Did they have an inside joke you didnât know about? You turned your head to Baekhyun who was sitting beside you. Baekhyun kicked the shin that belonged Xiumin who was about to laugh at him.Â
âYah i can be nice. I am always nice for a matter of fact.â He was being very defensive which only made the other two want to laugh even more.Â
âYou literally said you were gonna push Xiumin onto the train tracks when we were in Japan.â Chen brought up the memory from the time they filmed their reality show.Â
You couldnât help but laugh at hearing something like that. Who knew under all that kindness laid a very aggressive person?Â
âHe deserved it. You saw it yourself, he was going to kill me.â Baekhyun said giving a response to the stone that was thrown his way.Â
âYeah because you kept getting in my picture brat.â Xiumin was now the one defending himself from the slander.Â
Baekhyun chuckled at that memory of Xiumin getting so mad at him that he was on the verge of attacking him.Â
âWell I may not be nice to you but to everyone else I am an angel. Arenât I?â His attention along with the other 2 boys were on you.Â
You just laughed and nodded your head in agreement. âHe is just an absolute delight,â your tone was semi-sarcastic.Â
Unfortunately the conversation was cut short when the waitress approached them with the food they ordered. Xiumin was going to grill the meat but you insisted you do it for them. It was the least you could do to repay them for the graciousness they showed you today. You were used to grilling for your friends back home since they were usually either too lazy or too drunk.Â
Chen was pouring you all drinks while Baekhyun handed out some plates. After the meat was cut all three boys eyes were on you as they waited for you to raise your glass with them and do a toast.Â
The only thing you could think of was, âTo new beginnings.âÂ
Not questioning it they repeated after and downed the liquor in one shot. Baekhyun was drinking water because he really wasnât a person who could handle his alcohol well. It was opposite of Xiumin who was known to drink often and have a pretty high tolerance. You and Chen were at the same level, you werenât pros like Xiumin but you could handle your alcohol better than Baekhyun.Â
The attention was on eating instead of talking but Baekhyun being the person he was couldnât stand silence. He talked the whole time no matter if he was eating or not. âWe should do this more,â Baekhyun said with his mouth full of meat and lettuce.Â
âIâm pretty sure she has a life and a boyfriend or something. She canât spend her time with us.â Chen said in response to Baekhyun.Â
When the word âboyfriendâ slipped past his lips you froze and your whole body became tense.Â
âAm i right?â Chen asked with sincerity.Â
âA-actually I donât have a boyfriend and as of today my schedule will become pretty open.â Your eyes were looking down at your lap as you spoke.Â
âWait donât you work for Junmyeon? How can your schedule be open?â Baekhyun asked in genuine confusion.
All you had to do was give them a look for them to understand the situation.Â
âWhat happened? If you donât mind me asking,â Xiumin spoke up.Â
You shook your head letting him know that you didnât mind. âAll good things come to an end eventually. But like I said, new beginnings.â You had found the courage to say all that which was a big step.Â
âSo profound,â Chen spoke in awe of what you said. You all broke into a fit of laughter because of that.Â
âWell now you have no excuse to say no when we invite you out,â Baekhyun said and the rest agreed with him.Â
You just laughed and took another shot. You continued eating some more until your stomachs were full. By this time you felt the effects of alcohol kick in. Chen was nearly about to pass out and as expected Xiumin was pretty close to sober maybe just a bit tipsy.Â
Chen was whining about wanting to sleep already, so Xiumin had no other choice but to take him back to the dorms. Baekhyun told him it was ok to go and that he would pay for the bill and take you home.
After he covered the tab he went to check to see if you were ready to go but to his dismay you were crying. He was shocked and questioning why the sudden mood change.Â
In order to look at you properly he kneeled before you and lifted your chin so he could see your face. Your eyes were getting red and the tears were streaming down your face like a waterfall. âWhatâs wrong?â His voice was soft and gentle and it let you know that it was ok to let him in.Â
âEverything is wrong. I lost so much today and I donât know if I will ever recover from it.â You didnât dare break eye contact with him because within those eyes you felt a warmth and reassurance you needed.Â
âYou will. Trust me, right now is just the hard part, but once it passes everything will be so much easier. You just have to pull through and weather the storm.âÂ
The smile on his face did what you thought was impossible in that moment, it made you smile.Â
âNow stop crying. It isnât a good look on you.â Even in a time like this he could still joke, but you were thankful for it. You didnât want to be treated differently because of something like this.Â
Both of you laughed and you lightly pushed him in retaliation for his remark. You both got up and made your way out. A side effect of alcohol for you was dizziness, so Baekhyun took hold of your hand and led the way to the car. You were grateful for that because if not you probably would have fallen face first.Â
As promised Baekhyun took you home. It was later than expected, 3 am to be exact. With the box of your stuff and wet clothes in your hand you said your goodbyes.Â
âThank you for today. It helped more than you think.âÂ
He flashed his wide, signature rectangle smile toward you, âYou better not ignore my calls or texts.âÂ
You giggled at how persistent he was, âI wonât, donât worry.â
You were about to turn and walk away when you realized you had his hoodie on. âWhat about your hoodie?â You asked not knowing what to do because you couldnât take it off now because there was nothing under besides your bra.Â
âHold onto it. It gives me an excuse to see you again.â That was all he said before giving her a wink and driving off.Â
You were taken aback at how shameless he was. You stood there for a couple more seconds and let out a long, exasperated sigh. After everything that happened today that sigh was well deserved.Â
You stumbled your way to the elevator still a little tipsy from the liquor. The elevator ride seemed longer than usual and so did the walk to the front door. But when you got there you were sure you had lost your mind. Was your mind playing some sick trick on you? Was this a hallucination? Was this another side effect from the alcohol or were you really seeing him? âSuho?â
