Family Switch (PG): Bland Freaky Christmas Mash-up Feels Pointless.
#onemannsmovies #filmreview of "Family Switch" on #netflix. #FamilySwitch. Bland, warmed over 'Freaky Christmas' with few smiles. 2.5/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “Family Switch” (2023). Sigh
. While Disney’s “Freaky Friday” (with Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster) in 1976 was fresh and original, this is a genre that has really been done to death. “Family Switch” has some moments of good humour, but overall feels like a lazy retelling of the same old schtick. Bob the Movie Man Rating: Plot Summary: The Walker family – Bill

A Showdown for the Ages: AFL Grand Final - Collingwood Magpies vs. Brisbane Lions
Tumblr media
The Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final is the pinnacle of Australian Rules Football, a day when two of the country's top teams go head to head in a clash of skill, strategy, and determination. In this article, we delve into the anticipation, history, and excitement surrounding the blockbuster matchup between the Collingwood Magpies and the Brisbane Lions.
The Magpies' Pursuit of Glory
Collingwood is a name synonymous with AFL success. They have a rich history dating back to 1892 and are one of the most successful clubs in the league. With 16 premierships to their name, the Magpies are always considered contenders for the title. This year, they have a talented squad led by captain Scott Pendlebury and coach Nathan Buckley, both of whom have their sights set on bringing another premiership cup to the club's illustrious history.
The Rise of the Brisbane Lions
On the other side of the coin, the Brisbane Lions are a relatively new franchise in the AFL landscape, formed in 1996 through the merger of the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions. However, despite their short history, the Lions have achieved remarkable success, winning three consecutive premierships from 2001 to 2003. This year, under the guidance of coach Chris Fagan, the Lions have made it back to the Grand Final and are eager to add another chapter to their success story.
Key Matchups
The Grand Final is not only about the teams; it's also about the individual battles that unfold on the field. This year, fans can look forward to some thrilling matchups:
Scott Pendlebury vs. Lachie Neale: Two of the league's best midfielders will go head to head in the battle for supremacy at the center. Pendlebury's class and poise against Neale's relentless ball-winning ability will be a spectacle to watch.
Taylor Adams vs. Dayne Zorko: These two midfield bullies will be pivotal in their respective teams' efforts. Adams' toughness and contested ball-winning skills will be matched against Zorko's agility and creativity.
Mason Cox vs. Harris Andrews: In the forward line, Collingwood's Mason Cox, known for his towering presence and marking ability, will face the daunting task of competing against Brisbane's Harris Andrews, one of the league's premier defenders.
Historical Significance
This Grand Final carries a unique historical significance as it represents the clash between the old and the new. Collingwood, with its long and storied history, is the epitome of tradition and excellence in the AFL, while Brisbane, a relatively young club, symbolizes the league's expansion and growth beyond its traditional heartlands.
Both teams have their own compelling narratives – Collingwood seeking to add to their illustrious trophy cabinet, and Brisbane aiming to establish themselves as a modern-day dynasty. The result of this contest will shape the AFL's history and future.
The Fan Experience
The AFL Grand Final is not just about what happens on the field; it's also a festival of football for fans. Thousands will flock to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), while millions more will watch from their homes or local pubs, making it one of Australia's most-watched sporting events.
The atmosphere at the MCG is electric, with fans decked out in team colors, face paint, and waving banners. The pre-game entertainment is always a highlight, featuring top Australian musical acts. Whether you're a die-hard supporter or a casual fan, the Grand Final is an event that brings people together to celebrate their love for the sport.
The clash between the Collingwood Magpies and the Brisbane Lions in the AFL Grand Final promises to be a memorable showdown. It's a battle of tradition and history versus modern success and growth, with both teams having a lot at stake. As the teams take to the field, the eyes of the nation will be fixed on the MCG, awaiting the crowning of this year's AFL champion. Regardless of the outcome, one thing is certain – the 2023 AFL Grand Final will be a spectacle of Australian Rules Football at its finest.

It's only in rewatches that you realise how much foreshadowing there was in CAOS, more than you initially thought. That's actually quite a lot, both big and small, but these are the ones that have stood out to me in most recent watch.
Frozen Sabrina
In the tarot card reading episode, in Sabrina's reading, while Nick is doing a levitation trick on Sabrina, the Weird Sisters make it so she levitates up into space, where the atmosphere kills her. She's covered in frost and ice and is frozen solid in death. She looks exactly as her body does when Nick recovers it from The Void in Part 4.
2. Mandrake Sabrina
This is one of the obvious ones we all probably realised on our first rewatch, or maybe even sooner, that Mandrake Sabrina is foreshadowing for Sabrina Morningstar. However, the extra foreshadowing is the fact Mandrake Sabrina dies in Sabrina's arms, just as Sabrina M does, and it matches pretty much shot-for-shot. Sabrina has to lose a version of herself, a part of herself, twice. Ouch.
3. Faustus Statue
Before they go looking for Blackwood, Prudence magically decapitates the head of the statue he made of himself, and the shot shows the head rolling into the frame, so Faustus is literally just a head. Which is precisely what happens to Faustus in part 4. After Prudence finally catches him, he is beheaded and his living head is kept separated from his body.
4. Adam
Admittedly, there have been jokes about Lilith naming everything Adam, but the foreshadowing I'm not talking about here is not just that she creates something she calls Adam which, in turn, considers her his Mother (foreshadowing becoming an actual Mother), but Adam Creature dies shortly after his creation, and soon after Lilith is bound/trapped by a spell. Which is foreshadowing Part 4 where Baby Adam dies shortly after his creation, and soon after Lilith is cursed by Lucifer.
5. Stopping the Rain
This is more a reverse-foreshadowing, if that makes sense. In the tarot card episode, we Lilith (as Mrs McG) control the weather. She stops the rain effortlessly. And then, in a later episode in Part 2, Sabrina controls the weather, stopping the rain and bringing about a sunny day. On the first watch of Part 2, we don't know that Sabrina has been given these gifts because she's going to take Lilith's place as intended Queen, but in retrospect, it does show us that's exactly what Lucifer is intending, as Sabrina is now showing the same gifts as Lilith. Only Sabrina shows off with them because she's young and the powers are new, whereas Lilith has reached a Granny Weatherwax level of behaviour towards power.
6. The Play
This is the obvious one we already know on the first watch, but I just wanted to put it as a link to point number 5. That they were constantly, and actively, showing us that Lucifer intended for Sabrina to take Lilith's place, and it's most obviously shown hen he makes Sabrina play Lilith in the play and then sends drinks to compliment her performance. However, there is a secondary foreshadowing in Nick playing Lucifer as not only does he become Lucifer's acheron host, but when he starts getting the cloven foot, and his attitude changes, Sabrina and Nick become a direct reflection of what happened between Lilith and Lucifer back when Lucifer first started changing.
There are lots of others but these are the main ones that come to mind right now. Maybe I’ll add to this post as and when they pop into my head.

Apparently today is the 15th anniversary of me starting Lupron to treat Endometriosis.
Rant because I'm still mad.
I was desperate and begged for a hysterectomy that I'd been wanting since '97. The motherfucker doctor talked me into Lupron with saying if it helped surgery, if it didn't help the surgery was pointless (LIE).
The Lupron was the worst medication I've ever been on. Everyone reacts differently. First it made me ridiculously horny, which was deeply uncomfortable for me for host of reasons. But it fucked with my brain in much more dangerous ways. It made me want to drastic things I didn't want to do before the medication and never wanted to after it was out of my system.
But none of that was why I hate that doctor. When I went back to discuss the possible surgery he changed his mind because "Your future husband might want children and you'll regret the hysterectomy then"
EXCUSE ME!?!
"You acknowledge that me getting pregnant is unlikely because of my disease and previous surgery?"
He agreed.
"You agree that if I did get pregnant I would be at high risk for miscarriage?"
He agreed.
"You agree that if I was able to make it further in the pregnancy it would still be very risky for the baby and me?"
That he danced around a little more as an unknown. But he still was adamant the best course was another Lupron injection.
I was desperate not take opiates at the time so I agreed. It was a mistake on my part. The side effects got even worse. He still was adamant that if my pain wasn't 100% better a hysterectomy would be pointless.
After I ended up having to go back on opiates. I couldn't function. Eventually I was on 100 mcg of Fentanyl (it was a slow release patch) and Norco or Oxycodone for breakthrough. And no I never felt high, it barely kept control of my pain.
In Dec '16 I finally had a successful hysterectomy. I was off all daily opiates after six months. I do use THC & CBD these days but rarely need prescription opiates unless i have a kidney stone or recovery from a blockage.
Also, this male Doctor was in San Francisco connected to a big hospital. I made no secret that I was both bisexual but not sexually active or dating. And yet he still cares more about a fictional future husband's desire than his patient.

Saint Departures 2023
After suffering a bitter loss against the GWS Giants in the 2nd elimination final of the 2023 season, Stkilda's season was officially over. This brings us to a bitter time of the year as external pressures mount on us to change our list, update our list and perform better in the upcoming 2024 season.
Stkilda will make the difficult decision to not offer 5 players contracts for the upcoming year.
Here is our list of delisted players after the 2023 AFL Premiership season:
Jack Bytel
youtube
Jack was selected with pick 41 in the 2018 AFL draft, and played 22 senior games. Jack spent 5 years on our list and suffered significant back issues that kept him sidelined and rehabbing for most of his career. We wish Jack the very best in these tough times and hope he continues with his football.
Leo Connoly
youtube
Leo was drafted 64th overall in the 2021 AFL draft and managed 7 games, and 1 goal with us. Leo made his debut in 2020 which was at the MCG against Richmond, in what was a covid-interrupted season. Leo was a vauled teamate at the club and we hope he still has a future in football as he is only 22 years of age.
Jack Peris
youtube
Jack was selected as a category B rookie through our Next Generation Academy. Peris debuted this season against Gold Coast and unfortunately that was the only game he played for us. Jack is only 19 and his future is very much still in front of him, and we wish him the very best.
Oscar Adams
Tumblr media
Oscar, originally from Mount Gambier, was recruited by the Saints via SANFL club Glenelg with pick No.51 in last November's national draft. Oscar faced minor off field setbacks and was unable to debut in his tenure with us. We wish Oscar the best for his future and he has the full support of our club.
Tom Highmore
youtube
Tom was drafted at pick number #45 in the 2020 AFL draft. Tom played 16 games in his career as a key position defender/halfback. He averaged 22.6 disposals in his first six games but has fallen out of favour as of late and will not have his contract renewed for season 2024. We wish Tom the absolute best for his future.
Trade period list departures
Also departing us through the trade period are Nick Coffield, Jack Billings and Jade Gresham. We wish for a quick transitional period for our traded saints and hope they feel welcome and loved at their new homes. This trio will be especially missed as their valuable contributions to the club go above and beyond the playing field. This trio boasts a sum of 342 games experience that we have all enjoyed watching. Big thanks to Nick, Jack and Jade, we will miss you.
The trade period also see us lose picks 35, 56, a future second round pick, and a future fourth round pick.
In turn we recieve Carlton midfielder Paddy Dow, Freo young-gun Liam Henry, picks 21, 41, and two future third round picks.
Here is our list manager Stephen Silvagni talking about the trade period:
instagram
Once a saint always a saint, all past players are welcome at our club at anytime. We are committed to march on to premiership glory and we understand what it takes to get there. We will continually assess and manage our list, and recruit accordingly to what we need to win games.

The Ugly Sound Of Booing During AFL Matches
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Melbourne, the Nazi capital of Australia, is, also, the booing capital of the AFL. I wonder if the same folk booing at the footy are the same racist scum booing Aboriginal footballers? Victorian footy fans seem to think it is their God given right to boo every moment of a match when things don’t go their way on the field. It is an ugly sound just listening to it on the TV. Umpires and opposition players and fans have to listen to this crap from ungrateful entitled members of the crowd. Either these folks don’t know the rules of the game or just don’t care and loudly complain anyway. The ugly sound of booing during AFL matches is something you don’t hear at other football codes.
Tumblr media
Booing Is Bad Form
Predominantly white members of the Collingwood crowd booing Lance Franklin at the MCG. North Melbourne fans at Marvel Stadium booing throughout the match against Sydney whenever the umpire’s whistle went against their team. Essendon crowds boo a lot at stuff they don’t like on-field and the negativity sings a nasty song. The booing of Jason Horne-Francis by the crowd was a travesty. Sustained booing is the ugly sound of mob rule. You have paid to watch a spectacle, don’t spoil it for everybody else. Make noise in other ways, yell and shout for sure, but don’t boo it is really bad form. It is the orchestrated sound of white trash.
Tumblr media
The Booing Of Adam Goodes
“the booing of Adam Goodes and its impacts. Over the past month or so, Adam Goodes has been the subject to ever-increasing ‘booing’, each time he gets involved in the AFL match that his team, the Sydney Swans, are playing. My first real exposure to it came on Friday night, when Hawthorn were playing Sydney in a televised match and the response of the crowd whenever Adam Goodes was near the ball became louder and louder throughout the match. Since then it has significantly escalated. It has been often discussed in the media, with all sorts of ‘commentators’ and ‘celebrities’ weighing in on either side of the debate, or with ‘reasons’ why people are booing him. Much of this has been unhelpful, and has only served to divide the community around the issue and inflame the situation. It has now become so bad that Adam Goodes has taken extended leave from the club and will not be playing football this weekend.” - (https://www.thebiggergame.com.au/the-social-psychology-of-booing-adam-goodes/) The above excerpt from an article on the booing of  Adam Goodes, which occurred some 7 years ago, is a timely reminder of the impact of this ugly crowd behaviour on human beings. Adam Goodes, a champion of the AFL, was booed out of the game. Crowd booing is tribal behaviour and the many must be made aware of the consequences of their actions upon their target. Football teams want their passionate fans to be involved but they don’t want their fellow sportsmen being vilified via booing. Nobody wants to be the target of mob rule booing. AFL is, in my opinion, the greatest football code in the world. It is our Indigenous game. Victorian AFL match day crowds need to stop spoiling it for others by their ugly booing. Pull your heads in and take a breath. The players don’t want it, the coaches don’t want it, most fans don’t want it, and the clubs don’t want it. The ugly sound of booing during AFL matches – give it a permanent rest. ©WordsForWeb Read the full article
