Bioware missed an opportunity by not having the inquisitor's family/clan/mercenary group make an appearance in Skyhold. It would have given a nice lull in world saving and expand on your Inquisitor's past a bit more. Like can you imagine your Inquisitor being woken up in the morning by Josephine rushing into your chambers to tell you your family/clan/mercenary group has basically invaded Skyhold within the small hours of the morning and are demanding/asking to see you? What would your inquisitor's reaction be?

I think she'd want a big, flower-filled, no-holds barred wedding at her family's estate. All her relatives, friends she made in the Inquisition, the Inquisitor's relatives (if they have any/keep in touch.) She'd begin planning 16 months in advance. (x)

1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?

Hmm i'd say he can go for A While. His mind's always going anyways so if nothing else he'll get lost int he details of Hypetheticals and Scenarios. Or he'll pass the time by being silently judgy about things n people around him lol

13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?

I wanna say he thinks he looks good in whites and off-whites? And he is correct he *does* look good in them, especially in combination with gold accents. I can imagine a deep violet or indigo working well on him too, though.

32. Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke? 

Oh he's made sure to have a fitting conversation starter ready for all sorts of different situations, but if he's trying to have a casual chill conversation then his go-to is the story of The Undercover Pirate Job Mishap in his teens that got him the Adaar nickname

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

I think he's always been pretty consistent! I've ignored his mohawk and dorito body that he has in dai from the start lol. Oh i started giving him more floppy ears at some point though because i think they're cute :3

the ever lovely @lelianasbong tagged me [DAAAAAYS ago] to share my inky's face [using this picrew] and to share three facts about them.

Kendis' mother is Tal-Voshoth while her father is Vashoth. His parents [hypocritically] weren't happy with that. In a sense, it was like why invite that trouble into your/our lives? They had a fellow Vashoth who was "better adapted" in blending in planned for him. But he eloped! Kendis didn't meet her grandparents into her teens. [She did one of her father's sisters though. Not a good exchange.]

Though, she is proudly Vashoth. She does still consider themself a qunari. To an extent. She likes learning about their culture and incorporates parts of it to her day to day -- something that's occurred since her childhood as their mother's past would bleed through time to time. They're a big fan of vitaar and always collects them the way people might collect make up or jewelry or [in Leliana's case ;-P] shoes.

That said, her first company was for the most part human. She actually rejected the Valo-Kas at first. It's about money, you see? Nothing personal. Noble preferred mostly human groups and nobles had the coin. Thankfully the Valo-Kas never took it [too] personally. As Kendis made a name for themself, they sent another offer. Having left her previous group and bored out her mind, she took them up. No regrets [well. for the most parts ... those troublemakers ;-p]

I wish we got more presets to work with for the inquisitor and that some of the more weathered/aged complexions had worked out for what I was trying to do here (and that I hadn't forgotten his mercenary days scars after a dazed hour in the character creator D:) so I could render cassandra's tastefully aged emotional support twunk part time messiah full time wife guy with more precision, and also ideally some silver in his hair. finally got to give him his long hair and more slender build as the maker intended tho, we take those, let's call it close enough to a victory. adaar, who has actually met hawke in person, is quietly amused by rye at all times. 'yeah okay varric. I see your game here. if it ain't broke I suppose, it's as good a shot as any')

i too am often Thinking about my trevelyans anon! deeply troubled family verging on hawke levels of doomed by the narrative 🫶

the eldest son & most doomed trevelyan, leon is made tranquil at the start of the war. he’s a firm loyalist, so he reveals libertarians’ plans to the knight-commander at ostwick. no good deed, etc. in sander’s worldstate his tranquility is eventually cured, and while that’s not a positive experience, it does help him finally come to terms with being a mage (after 20 years…) in thea’s worldstate he chooses not to accept the cure and in damian’s he never gets the chance. ocularum sibling…

basil is the second son who got saddled with the responsibility of taking leon’s place (instead of becoming a templar like he was meant to!). in every worldstate he’s in ostwick running the bannorn while their father takes care of their mother who’s been sick with anxiety since the start of the war. this is also why he asks sander to go south to bring their siblings home.

damian is the next youngest along with his twin sister thea. he’s the only kid the trevelyans promised to the templars who actually joined the order. he’s not a fanatic, but he does earnestly believe in what the templars stand for. he’s horrified by “the excesses” of the order during the war though, which leads him to desert and look for his mage siblings. in sander’s worldstate the inquisition finds them all. in thea’s worldstate damian managed to find her before the conclave, and… well. she’s a maleficar at this point. she can’t fathom that her brother would be there to HELP her, so she panics and she kills him.

in damian’s worldstate, he very nearly has to kill thea too because she shows up at haven with the venatori. he does have to subdue her, and after they make it to skyhold she’s imprisoned. she stays imprisoned for months because he knows she has to be executed and can’t bring himself to do it. he turns a blind eye when sander eventually breaks her out. (then turns a blind eye again when he finds her with calpernia’s venatori…)

sander i’ve already talked about a little but he’s SUCH a fun character to me because being the inquisitor actually makes him worse while saving his family. the only worldstates where he is happy (and not actively becoming a worse person) are when he is scandalising marcher society by tagging along with a band of vashoth mercenaries (including his apostate gf semra adaar). unfortunately for this to happen his family has to fall apart :)

i gave Vataash the british voice bc i thought it'd be funny and now i've started delving into his backstory a lil bit more and i've decided his dad was a Free Marcher noble who just happens to like Large Women

people joke that he must get his temper from his mother, but he's just "My father, actually. He's nobility. Not used to being told no."

and upon researching a bit, ive decided his father is from Ostwick. if he weren't an Adaar, Vataash would have been a Trevelyan.

Lelia, Khalil, Jarrah, and Nadja

Lelia is an escaped qunari saarabas. She was trained for craft work but her magic developed at 16 and she was saarabas from them on. Her Arvaarad was killed while they were in the free marches when she was 24 and she took her chance and ran. She was taken in by a chantry near Wycome, who's mother took pity on her. She lived there as a lay sister of sorts and this is where she met Khalil.

Khalil was born outside the qun, a vashoth. His parents and brother are mercenaries, his brother being a mage. But Khalil found that life unsatisfying and found work as a baker's apprentice at age 14. He kept in contact with his family but decided to stay in the village and learn to bake. The village was weary at first but was soon charmed by the young qunari who they soon found just as kind and respectful as any human boy. When he was 22 Lelia came to the town, taken in by the chantry mother. They became quick friends and soon Khalil began courting her.

Nadja (the eventual inquisitor) is the first born of Khalil and Lelia. She grew up in the same town learning to bake from her father, and to weave and sew from her mother. Despite her parents constant warning that she needed to be gentle and kind even when others were bigoted for her looks, Nadja had a temper. She would often wrestle with boys who called her names much to her father's dissaproval. When her magic developed at age 12 her parents decided the safest thing to do was send her to live with Khalil's brother. He was trained in magic and could teach Nadja all he knew, while also hopefully getting her aggression out through the mercenary training. She was a natural in elemental magic related to fire, even breathing fire. Nadja joined his mercenary band. She flourished, becoming a powerful mage and an asset to the team. The events of the conclave happen. She's named inquisitor. Romances Josie yada yada

Jarrah was born four years after Nadja. He was gentler than his sister, lacking her temper or anger. His magic manifested at age 16. Khalil and Lelia knew it was dangerous, but they chose to have Lelia train him in magic because of his calmer nature, they assumed his magic would be easier to hide. He took well to creation, like his mother, and was naturally attuned to ice magic. He helped with subtle things, like keeping ingredients cool for his father's bakery, and growing herbs and plants out in their garden with creation. He joins up with the inquisition at his sister's urging as a support mage, and a healer. He eventually joins Bull's Chargers and assists stitches with ailments that need a magical help, and occasionally fights on the field as support. (Also iron Bull romance)
