Okay, but I'm still not over how well that scene was played out for Neo when she broke and realized she didnt have anything else after this. That empty, hollow feeling after finally getting what she thought she wanted, only to realize, that it didnt actually help anything. And Roman's words are what stick to me with all of this.

"This cant be all you wanted, is it?"

Because up to that point, that was all Neo wanted. She lost Roman, the one person she cared about and cared about her, and she wanted to avenge him. She became so grief stricken that she started hunting down Cinder, only to have her anger and grief pointed towards Ruby instead.

And I'll be disappointed if this is the end of her story.

Dont get me wrong, not a huge fan of Neo, but I'm a huge fan of watching broken characters start to heal and get better. A fan of watching someone who was abused and lashing out because they dont know any better to be given a chance to find out that there's more out there for them and a better way to live. That getting revenge on those you think wronged you, wont make anything better. It doesnt bring back the person you lost, wont make anything better and will make you hollow and empty.

Maybe Jaune can be the one to help free Neo, pushing aura into her to help her find her sense of self. Its not going to fix anything she's done, but it'll give her a chance to survive and a chance to start correcting her path. A chance for someone to listen to her. A chance she never had.

its interesting thinking about how the grimms presence has affected peoples state of being. like. maybe im thinking too hard but like. the implications. inane rambling about emotional repression under the cut ⬇️

cause like. in small rural communities, especially ones with little to no huntsmen. there is strong incentive to repress negativity as much as possible. and we can actually kind of see this in a good chunk of the cast:

ruby and yang both try and keep the mood as light as possible whenever they can, and struggle to show sincere vulnerability. yang does have her anger issues early on especially, but that at least is productive to defending the people she cares about (in her mind at least). and blake comes off as angsty a lot, but is fairly cut off from it, if you know what i mean? theres a lot of separation between her emotions and what she expresses. she grew up hanging out around a lot of very angry people, shes learned to remain cool and not make anything worse.

vs weiss, who lived all the way up in atlas, which had the benefits of being both 1) a big city of mostly rich people living content lives and 2) having a huntsman academy that had plenty of students who could could clean up the few grimm that made it all the way up to atlas as training while more of the fully trained huntsmen could deal with mantle and the surrounding areas. shes not emotionally vulnerable, very very few people are in rwby, but she is definitely more expressive about how she feels.

ren and nora have an interesting dynamic in terms of this because. nora is a pretty open book and she just kind of lets herself feel whatever she feels. vs ren who is like. the closed book of closed books. hes not impossible to figure out but hes not going to show or tell pretty much anything. with his flat effect + semblance, he manages to cancel out nora enough that they were able to make it through a lot of things.

oscar is also from the middle of nowhere and like. he tries to be emotionally honest, but he isnt emotionally vulnerable, yknow? he says what hes thinking if its important enough that others should hear about it, but his problems get tucked away neatly in his mind and the only other person whos going to get any shot at hearing about is ozpin. and thats because hes also in there.

all in all. its interesting considering the reoccurring advice that everyone seems to give out to others in rwby: 'dont let your emotions rule you'. and while this is valid advice in any situation. its not surprising that it gets hammered in as much as it does given feeling your emotions too hard can turn into nightmare beasts at your location that want to kill you

The thing about watching a show like Scavengers Reign is the inevitable question of how well I would fare in a similar scenario. The usual answer, Id probably not survive a week.

Except if I was in a pod on the ship, or Id landed like Azi with supplies that happened to include plenty of necessary medication and such. Id like that kind of story. Someone who thinks ahead for emergencies or grabs the right box on the way out. Because we're not all chemists or mechanics or programming whizzes, yknow? Its a fun power fantasy, the disabled person with all the skills to manage on their own. Some people could manage. I do have a friend who genuinely knows everything there is to know about wheelchairs, those people do exist, theyre just not most of us. Most of us dont survive apocalyptic scenarios or even sufficiently distant time travel.

Which is also why any political grand revolution you come up with has to include us. No abrupt cutting off of the supply chain, no pandemonium in the streets because if you have to leave all the disabled people to die then your revolution isnt worth shit.

I think those are stories worth telling, of how disabled people do manage in catastrophes and not as a side character to show how generous someone else is and not as a total genius of exactly their disability. Like of course we're interested and that helps but that doesnt mean we can be isekai'd back to 1200 and come up with penicillin, yknow? Or immunosupressants or heart medication or insulin.

There is, whats her name, Raven, from The 100? She injures her leg fairly early on. I cant really think of many others. Do reccomend me any you think of.

(Also a superpower that makes the disability not disabling doesnt really count either. If they bust their spine and five minutes later have a full replacement tech body that they never think about and is always fully functional *mcu war machine* that also doesnt count. The aesthetic prosthetic limb only counts if the character is still disabled - Ill count Yang from RWBY because she actually has a whole season to process and she can lose the arm and it does cause trouble. If someone w experience of prosthetics wants to disagree w me thats fine.

Which reminds me of Alita Battle Angel, which I found so bizarre, in a culture of treating people as walking parts, the guy gives his daughter priceless porcelain. Like. Did you not think people would kill her for it?? Anyway this has been a fun tangent.)

Mm and Id also like to see space travel where, like with scavengers reign they can breathe the air, but not perfectly. Like maybe theres not quite enough oxygen so everyones always a little dizzy and a little not quite thinking clearly. Totally surviveable biologically but everyones just a little disabled. Or gravity is stronger and long term bad for their bones, or much lighter and if they get back to somewhere safe they srruggle to readjust. People born on colony worlds adapted for generations to their specific conditions getting on a spaceship, spaceship politics about what temperature and gravity is standard (oooh the uh. Wayfarers by Becky Chambers does cool shit with this actually, with various aliens rather than humanoids but still super fun. Theres this one species that doesnt breathe oxygen at all and they need spacesuits to be around everyone else. Dont remember what they do breathe. Very space-Jews, love them). I get why youd choose for your setting to have breathable air, thats a difficult resource, its just at the edge of believability for me.

Edit: theres also Jeeter with lung issues from starship iris, a canon space Jew :D. And I think one of them was on antidepressants? Such a good show. Podcast.

Hello, do have any couples in mind for your ocs?

Good question! I’ve thought about it, but since I’m still developing some of character dynamics, things might be subject to change.

CAND, for example, is a WIP. Candy is the newest member I made, so I don’t have much for her yet. I just know she’s an orphan and she didn’t grow up with the others, so she doesnt have any preexisting history. This is a good and a bad thing. She could have secret history with another person on this list!

Adrian and Daiyu are childhood friends. They used to both be trained by Uncle Jaune, and Daiyu was an excellent fighter, but in the past few years she’s become a shut-in due to chronic illness. Ren and Nora have been trying and failing to help her, so Jaune suggested they pair her up with Adrian so that she can still go outside with a familiar face without also being shadowed by her parents and punk little brother.

I think they’re both a little afraid of Naja. And hey, she doesn’t blame them, but it’s still annoying. Naja usually keeps her semblance a secret, but that’s hard to do with people you grew up with. she was even friends with Daiyu, but after a while she mostly kept to herself. Adrian is usually very friendly and polite to her because he doesn’t want to come off as judgmental, but Daiyu… she doesn’t even like being in her head, why does Naja want to get in there?

Team MOVS! I have no complicated lore about Ming and Olive. They became friends at school and they are whiterose 2.0. Olive is hardworking and annoyed by everything and Ming just wants to have fun but she can’t because Olive keeps bossing her around. They’re too cute for words.

Sophie and Victoria are the only ones I would actually say are ‘couple’… Victoria is training to be a scientist and so she was partnered up with Sophie, who is… much, much more than she seems. People aren’t sure if they’re actually dating or if they just have a weird obsession with each other. I doubt they know, either.

and lastly, team TEIL. You’ll be surprised to learn that these guys were actually the first ocs I thought of! They have the most developed story, so developed that they might need their own post. honestly this isnt even a rwby team this is like a 4 hour long neo-noir. I couldn’t get into it if I tried, It would take me too long. But I’ll try.

Ty and Li are childhood friends and #bros. Li has been dealing with his sister’s issues for a long time, so although he seems brash he’s actually the most intuitive of the boys. Ty is suave and cool and has a bad temper. He’s the best fighter of the bunch and he falls in love a little too easily.

Esmé is an orphan who works at a Malachite-owned gentlemens club, where all the faunus waitresses have to wear itchy, glittery outfits and mesh blindfolds. She hates it but she needs the cash.

Irvine left home in search of adventure. Right now, he’s cleaning toilets. Irvine and Esmé are coworkers and Best Friends According To Irvine. Esmé has tried to kill all three of them at least once.

I never did understand folks that put Jaune arc on a pedestal.

Why can’t people criticize him? Why can’t we use other characters than Jaune when it comes to ships?

I look at papi and the rest of the folks that don’t want anyone to ship characters because of their rules.

Even after explaining that this AU version of Cardin is being redeemed, heart of gold etc they ignore all of that because “canon” (same folks that ship Jaune with Salem or cinder)

What’s the point of writing a RWBY story if I am restricted to expanding characters that are not Jaune?

Everything about this whole thing is correct anon, I'm glad you did send this in. Cause you are right about a lot of stuff.

Every character in RWBY is subject to criticism, whether it be how they are written, portrayed, etc. Also lets not forget the fact that even the entireity of RWBY's world-building can be brought unto question as well. Especially how they refuse to expand upon the World of Remnant alone.

As for Jaune, there was so many ways you can fix him as a character and in the end still make him better than his canon-counterpart. Just by doing a few things.

Making his semblance based around the Joan of Arc since that is his historical allusion.

Having him take accountability for cheating to enter Beacon Academy and with Ozpin saying while he is disappointed to know Jaune cheated to get in at the same time he wants to see Jaune grow.

Accepting to be trained by Pyrrha, his team, or anyone else that is willing to help him. Oc's/FC's count as well if you are doing a re-write.

Show why he wanted to be a Huntsman; I.E. To show his family that he can stand on his own two feet or because he wants to be a hero.

Not having him whine over Pyrhha's Death every three episodes in a volume.

Have him actually be awkward around Weiss but also accept that she isnt into him but then having a brain (as he should) and realizing that Pyrrha is into him.

And Most Importantly to better fit his Joan of Arc Allusion.

Having Jaune die as a hero in a rewrite of Volume three, post-beacon, or during the Atlas Arc.

I also do agree that the bully arc should have not fixed all of Jaune's issues as he received help from Pyrrha and should have realized that this was not him but Pyrrha assisting him as despite himself putting up a spirited defense/fight against the Alpha Ursa Grimm. It should have been enough to give him confidence to tell Ozpin about him cheating to get into Beacon and accepting Pyrrhas help to start training.

Once again you are totally fine. You and I also have the same criticisms about a character that we dislike. Which is something that papi does not understand. That any characters in any form of media are not safe from criticism at all.

So I am seeing some people say Jaune could have been a unknowing monster to Alyx and that is why she poisoned him because he was trying to keep the story on track and using the Paper Pleasers as evidence for this.

We know this isnt true. First as we know Lewis was cut out from the story completely. There has been some debate on who actually got out but in vol 8 Witch I think it was Ozpin and Oscar discuss the girl who fell and Ozpin specifically states Alyx wasnt the same girl afterwards. Which says it was ALYX who got out. Which then begs the question what happened to Lewis?

Then we know the story paints Alyx in softer light but Jaune says she was cruel and selfish which we know is actually a fact. The curious cat said Alyx promised to take them to remnant in exchange for getting her to the tree which she broke. We also know from the story itself that Alyx cheated to beat the Red King. And even RWBY when discussing the book says it paints Alyx as someone causing a lot of trouble and issues even with the softer light.

Then we know the Book which takes a softer look at Alyx is also edited with stuff left out such as Lewis and the Herbalist. Which we know the Herbalist happens because of how the Cat reacted they was watching a repeat of Alyx with that hence why they freaked out so badly in regards to it. Which looks at Ruby yeah that didnt work out so well. But the book is being edited to be more favorable to Alyx then what we are being shown actually happened. Which backs up the self centered behavior Jaune claims.

To even further this when Ruby meets the blacksmith she ends up holding a dagger which reflects Alyx's face back. Said face did not look friendly at all in fact I would says she had as ugly a look on her face as Ruby did when the Purple Paper Pleaser was explaining the issue with jaune protecting them.

So we know Alyx is FAR from an innocent girl in this.

Then we come to Jaune. Jaune is traumatized from killing Penny but as he said he quickly figured out he was the Rusty knight and so he tried to follow the story. But as we know for a fact the Story isnt correct. So while Jaune was trying to follow it the story was never something he could follow but he didnt know that at first. Which the issue of that was freaking him out and causing him to panic.

Then Alyx poisoned him. And let us make something clear she intended to KILL him. If it wasnt for the Paper pleasers Jaune would have been dead.

So Jaune traumatized from Penny, then made worse by in his own words being unable to even be a fake hero then having the person who he was trying to protect try to honestly kill him made it so his mental issues were MUCH worse.

We arent seeing his behavior with the Paper pleasers as evidence of Alyx we are seeing it as a RESULT of Alyx. Here he found someone who he could protect and save something he has been trying and falling at since vol 3. So yeah he latched on. And he wasnt respecting the paper pleasers wishes but I imagine because at first he WAS respecting their wishes.

Originally the paper pleasers are building and beautfying the land for their purpose and Jaune was protecting them from outside and themselves. The issue was they finished their purpose and when they went to move on Jaune kept protecting them. And that is where the issue happened. Because Jaune who has ISSUES with Death couldnt accept that.

So I think people trying to attack Jaune and claim he was the monster which forced Alyx's hand are ignoring how multiple characters have shown us Alyx wasnt a good character even in the best light she came across as someone causing trouble.

And keep in mind we have seen Evil little girls before such as Cinder. So I dont think Jaune was a monster here at all I think people are forgetting the narration from multiple sources back up Jaune's take on Alyx.

Posting this only with the comment that the Paper Pleasers also didn’t blame Jaune for what he was doing, because to them he was just fulfilling his role. In their eyes it was just unfortunate that his role clashed with theirs

Okay time to rip this crossover trailer to shreds. First the Grimm are no threat to the Justice League.

You cannot convince me that Superman will have any difficulty dealing with a Grim army. Add in Wonder Woman, Flash, and Jessica Cruz and it is basically over. Grimm arent even on Parademon level and those things are Apokolips cannon fodder that Batman can beat with ease. I know they see the Grimm are evolving to their weaknesses, but Kryptonite only works on Superman?

Wonder Woman is almost as strong as him and has almost no weaknesses, besides in her early days when you could beat her by tying up her hands but I dont think these grimm can consider that a great deal of strength. In Batman's contingenies for the JL, he needs to give Wonder Woman a "Phantom Opponent" aka fake construct of some sort like a hologram or a simulation to keep her locked in battle. No way any of these Grimm are doing that.

And as for Flash? Again, no Weaknesses besides plot stopping him! Unless those Grimm tap into the speed force no Grimm should be able to touch him.

I didnt see any yellow Grimm either so unless these things can somehow make Jess lose her will power they stand no chance. She has taken on way stronger armies, these glorified hell hounds dont stand a chance

I didnt mention them above so I'll speed run them cuz I still think the Grimm stand no chance. Cyborgs tech is way too immense and can adapt and upgrade constantly, so if the Grimm evolve so can he. Vixen and Black Canary are meta humans and can easily take on the Grimm cannon fodder, both hero's are around building level and are amazing at hand to hand combat. And as much as I hate how OP he is for being a rich guy with good tech

Batman can clear out these grimm. Not only does Batman have contingencies for every league member up above who can easily stomp these Grimm into black mist, Batmans no kill rule only applies to humanoids. Grimm are just animals on steroids, Batman is gonna be mercing them.

Like does the Leauge REALLY need team RWBY? Just call up the other members like Martian Manhunter, the 3-4 other Lanterns, Aquaman, Dr Fate, Shazam, the Hawks, Zatana, Constantine, the Teen Titans, or literally so many other people? If they say in the movie that the other members are across the world also dealing with this then thats fair. Not really cuz so many of these characters can wipe out these Grimm with ease! Grimm are weak! They aren't like something that can give the Teen Titans a run for their money!

Yeah in both of her actions shots to show off her new abilities she's in her shitty V7 outfit and not using that stupid gun she's supposed to have in the cover.

One noticeable thing is that JNPR is just gone. They haven't been seen, mentioned, there's been no leaks on them, so I dont think they gonna appear. Im thankful that Renora Cyborg love triangle isnt gonna happen, but im also disappointed that the one good part of the first crossover, that being the Jess and Jaune duo, will not happen. You know I actually feel bad when I wanted to see Jaune on screen.

And im sorry but this is just choppy work when it comes to editing

This scene of the sea dragon comes out of the water and scares Blake, Ruby narrates and says fearfully "What is that?" And Blake as bland as she can says "They made a new Grimm". Im sorry but, if they made a new Grimm, why not show it when they say its new? Why show a Grimm from Volume 4? Just show the new Grimm!

All in all it's nonsensical. Its like putting Goku into My Hero Academia and expecting something to actually hurt him. The RWBY verse is not that strong, its just not. The JL who are arguable the strongest super hero team in all of comics, are not supposed to have trouble with these things. Now if it was the Teen Titans I'd believe it. But with the JL this is like Tuesday to them. They've fought the Legion of Doom, the forces of Apokolips, Gods new and old, whole Lantern Corps, demons and monsters, Meta Humans out the ass, and so much more. Hellhounds that can replicate their powers and weaknesses should be a cake walk. But somehow they're gonna nerf the hero's and make team RWBY the greatest hero's of all time! They're gonna save the Justice Leauge and the earth! They did everyone now clap! Clap and forget how those incompetent idiots doomed their own world!

I hate this. I hope this is the last RWBY project released. I feel bad for the animators who got forced to make this, I dont want it to flop so they dont suffer but FUCK do I hate this and want it to flop so bad it finally kills Rwby so I can stop seeing greenlight volume 10. The only hashtag more annoying is the restore the Snyderverse.

Been a while since I watched it, but I'm still surprised how little traction Supernatural Academy got, especially on this here webbed site.

Like yeah the concept isnt exactly original and the animation is janky, but that hasnt stopped RWBY fans for what? Nine Seasons?

And Supernatural Academy has some genuinely interesting concepts going on, even in the background. You can tell they put thought into the world building. Characters introduce themselves with their pronouns, which might be a bit clunky, but isn't uncommon in real life and certainly would be common in a world full of supernatural creatures. It does certainly double as a clumsy way to tell us one of the central characters in nonbinary, but I dont mind. The different 'races' actually look supernatural, not just human with one quirky trait. Being able to pass as human is actually discussed as a point of privilege. Mermaids use wheelchairs while on land. Elves are still dealing with losing their home realm and culture. The audience insert, being new to the whole magical world thing, accidentally commits a bunch of microaggressions while acting on her best intentions. Also theres the whole "kids in camps because racism" thing, but now were getting to more concrete spoilers and ideally I think you should watch it.

The whole thing is free on YouTube, so I guess that goes to show how little anyone cares about it. Which is honestly a bummer, because there's some cool representation in there and we dont get much explicit AroAce representation, for example.

Alongside that we also have some weird implications that RWBY is disliked for being "cringe" and of course, more instances of conflating criticism with "hate". If one pays attention they could easily spot a pattern, take a shot of your favourite drink anytime you see the word "hate" or its synonim when the supposed thread is supposed to be about criticsm.

As far as for the second part of the post that comes after my reply.

Criticism does not have to be constructive, its good when it is, but if a person can see something wrong, they can say its wrong without offering a solution. I dont need to be a professional doctor to see a bone sticking out where it shouldnt be etc.

And lets get back to the old sticking point "Oh, but why does RWBY have separate critic communities".

Because the fandom MADE it a fucking necessity! Just like with shows like Game of Thrones and many others! You think critic spaces or subreddits are some kind of never seen before thing before RWBY?!

The only reason RWBY has them is because of the fucking Fandom!

The RWDE tag on tumblr only exists because people were ASKED for criticism to be something that people could avoid, by tagging a post as RWDE anyone using this platform can easily blacklist the tag and NEVER see anything from it! And yet the Fandom instead of doing so CONSTANTLY comes into the tag, and then constantly bitches and whines about how criticism exists!

The critics subreddit exists because most people there were slowly pushed away from the main sub. It didnt START as that, but it became that when the mods of r/RWBY decided that instead of moderating discussions they would rather throw out all the critics because fans would NEVER behave in critical posts and would either mass report them or cause conflict!

Whether someone likes RWBY or not has NOTHING to do with personal morality. Its also extremelly ironic that there are constant "uwu, people say me bad because i like RWBY" claims with nothing to back them up while on places like twitter you can see RWBY twitter accounts say that anyone who dislikes RWBY is just a misogynist or the like.

I would rather take the most toxic critic foaming at the mouth about how RWBY is bad over people like op, ratfuck snakes who pretend to have no problem with criticism while sneaking in the same fucking anti-criticism shit into their threads.

I dont even criticize RWBY that much anymore and i mostly just tell the critics spaces to not even talk to the larger fandom, and its because of dipshits like the OP.

Because the RWBY FNDM is full of these nice presenting, nice writing manipulative jackasses who are just smiles and rainbows while saying the same tired bullshit as always. Just a reminder, just because someone is "polite" does not mean they are not full of shit.
