I completely understand the annoyance with this series having such an obtrusive cascade of gimmicks

My extremely biased personal hunch is that Grian was using this season to test a bunch of frameworks for gimmicks at once. Not These Exact Gimmicks but different levels of RNG; if knowledge/skill/etc-based gimmicks were acceptable or equitable; how players & viewers would react to obviously intentional assignment of 'random' traits.

If the next series rolls around and its also crazy & unbalanced, or doesn't take any lessons from this series¹, I'll be annoyed. but rn im like Okay Sure. One wack season to avoid the drip-feed of one mechanic at a time that keeps a whole season locked into Obvious Game Structure Problems is a fine sacrifice.

¹ the key lesson imo being EVERYONE LOVES NON-RANDOM SHIT not that we want a plot on rails, but assigning things to suit players is fine and extremely interesting!! The players' superpowers were THE most interesting session of the whole series, please Grian it's okay to play to the strengths & interests of your friends on purposed

Hi my name is Crow! Most of what I reblog is fandom stuff, and I jump between fandoms quite frequently <//3 I have a few that I tend to come back to regularly however (Somehow I manage to have a dragon age obsession at least once a year. it is very consistent)

If I don't respond to something, it is either bc 1) I genuinely don't know what to say and social interactions terrify me, 2) I was too tired to respond to something when I saw it then I promptly forgot about it or 3) got anxious and convinced myself that the person who sent it hates me or something. Deepest apologies I'm just awful at stuff like that and have pretty bad anxiety I do try though <//3

I block very very generously! If you do end up blocked by me it may not be for any actually bad reasons, you could have just worded something in a way that mildly annoyed me, please dont take offense to it lmao. Aviae Surana

(she/her)

Aviae is my main dragon age origins oc, and I talk about her quite a bit. Shes specializes in spirit healing/arcane warrior/battle mage. Technically she also takes a little bit of levels into keeper, but I don't really consider it one of her canon class since I never use it with her like I do the others.

She romances Morrigan, and does the dark ritual with her. She puts Alistair on the throne due to her distrust of Anora. She feels guilty about it, but she would do it again in a heartbeat. Her closest friends from Origins are Zevran and Alistair, but she considers all of the people she traveled with dear friends. From the Awakening crew, Anders is practically family to her (they grew up in the Circle together, and shes always considered him like a brother), and Nathaniel becomes someone she ends up relying on. Her and Justice also get along very well, even if they butt heads on occasion.

For important decisions, she sided with the mages, made Bhelen king of Orzammar, made a truce between the Dalish and the werewolves, helped Redcliffe and saved Connor without Isolde dying. She kept Avernus alive (I'm still in the air about whether she allows him to continue his research), let the Architect live as well, and saved Amaranthine. Vigil's keep stood its ground with the upgrades she had provided it.

This is my girl! Sadly I don't have a better reference for her current canon outfit (she has an old outdated reference sheet though), so this will have to do.

In some of the older posts, I refer to her and Alistair as exes. Sadly, while this is a fascinating dynamic, it is not canon anymore. As much as I love Alistair, Aviae would not trust him enough to fall in love with him due to him having trained as a templar. Eventually they become close friends, but never more than that. She is part of my "Mage rights" Worldstate. I tag all of her posts as "oc: Aviae Surana"

Relationships with companions:

Alistair: These two. Most fucked up friendship ever happens between these two. At the start of the game, she's wary of him, due to his templar training, but the two eventually become close friends. Of course, this is completely fucked up by the Landsmeet. Aviae originally tells Anora that she will support her (this is a bold faced lie), and does NOT inform Alistair of her deceit. Then, once actually at the Landsmeet, she puts Alistair on the throne, sucessfully twisting the knife in both alistair AND anora. Two birds one stone, as they say. Trying to make up for it, she promises to help him lead, to stay by his side and advise him. This placates their relationship for a while, making them a bit less awkward around each other. However. However. Aviae lied. Well, she didn't MEAN to lie. But when the final fight is over, Aviae's mental health tanks for the worse, and she struggles coping with Morrigan leaving her. She feels guilty over being alive, all that shit yada yada. She doesn't even stay in denerim a week before she ditches and travels with Zevran (well. It was more of Zevran going "Aviae my dear friend, if you stay here it will kill you. Do you want to stab people. Would that make you feel better. Lets go stab people"). This completely shatters what little of a friendship the two had. When Awakening rolls around about three months later, their reunion is. Tense. And awkward. For everyone there. They don't properly have a conversation after this until many, many years later.

Morrigan: Ohhh these two. Now that im sitting here trying to type something up nothing is coming to me but man. They both longed for freedom most their life; Aviae from the Tower, and Morrigan from her mother. Aviae ends up with a small crush on Morrigan from the moment they meet, and it only grows as time passes. Morrigan takes a bit longer to accept her feelings, but eventually they enter a relationship. Despite the fondness they hold for each other (not that either of them are willing to say it), they argue quite a bit throughout origins. About the mages, about the elves in denerim, about the anvil. Somehow they always end up snapping at each other during this time. Despite it all, they both care so so deeply. And it terrifies both of them. They both have problems admiting how deeply they care (aviae because of growing up in the Circle, Morrigan bc of a multitude of things lmao). On the Eve of the final battle, Morrigan and Aviae do a ritual to keep her from dying. Morrigan admits she plans to leave, and Aviae is hurt beyond words. Despite this, she promises to come after her, and gives her the Warden's Oath (necklace containing blood from the joining) as a token of her love. Morrigan leaving does a number on Aviae's mental health, but the two reunite at the Eluvian and go to raise Kieran together.

Minor spoilers for the story <3 Lilly finds out that her brother accidentally murdered her and she freaks out bc that's wild. But then she forgives him and everything is fine. She finds out that her dad has turned into a monster and she does nothing about it but avoids him. Her mom starts trying to control her, and she just waits for her friends to help her because she knows they will. She is so so tired of The Plot and doesn't know what to do about it. So she just... doesn't deal with it. She is hanging out, she is simply a lovely litty girl who is going through the horrors <3 Her friends don't even know that much about her, except for her family. She doesn't even know that much about herself. She knows she likes flowers, and having fun... but she doesn't quite know what fun is to her. She kinda gets left behind by the plot in a sense, even though shes the main character. (But I still love her very very much, she is my baby and no one can hurt her <3)

A "regular" "human" "fighter" NEURODIVERGENCY + "NEURODIVERGENCY" JUMPSCARE. So. By all accounts he really is just some guy i promise. In his head he is just a human fighter, boring as possible, average guy. Sure he has schizophrenia but hes not gonna let that stop him! The only issue is that he lives in a fantasy world, so his doctor really shouldve checked whether it was schizophrenia or mind reading. Yeah most of the time its the formor but if it isnt your kindof fucked And since he already hears voices, theres no way he'd understand that the new threatening voice in his head was his cool new sword that he found at a digsite. and that the little dragon following him around is his familar, not the dragonborn party members son.

As for the human part. he very well could be but im not gonna think about it too hard

anyways if you ignore all that other stuff hes basically just a regular guy for real. he has a passion for archeology and studying long dead civilizations, he likes animals, especially dragons. he collects trinkets that remind him of people he loves and wishes the voices in his head werent so mean because he knows his friends care about him and doesnt want to doubt that. Hes a regular ass guy!

so like. mister drey right. hes lost bits of his memory to the sea, yet its so interesting to me how he doesnt forget the face of the boy he kinda helped raise for a bit and his niece who he hadnt seen in a longer time then chip (i dont remember for sure if he remembered them on sight so if im wrong uh. i can explain this with analysis power trust!!!!!!!). he didnt let go of whats important to him, yet he lost all he could, including those important things. he doesnt even seem to stop losing, seeing as chips fucking dead without much hope of getting him back. hes lost his arms, yet hes still kicking, cause thats all he can really do right now. ride out the tides and hope to not sink, cause surely hed have to learn how to swim without the knowledge built into him prior.

lets say i forgot that he didnt recognize them at first. i think he did. somewhere in him did. he just didnt want to believe it. itd been too long since hes seen something good, he knew aster liked toying around by giving someone good things and dragging them away. yet he found it real, and i think with that, despite all thats happened to him, dreys hopeful. he has good faith in the world to me, atleast i believe that, cause hes able to have chip back and his niece again and things may not be the best but hes able to look up and not see a dark room (metaphorically and actually).

i also think a bit about how hes sorta seperated from the rest of his family, and has the look for it too. hes rugged, hes not so formal, hes more freed out then the others. he also btw looks nothing like jayson. like. maybe with mae and shit id get more but like. its very interesting how he bares little to no resemblence to jayson. i honestly cant think of any actual analysis reason for this, maybe ill let my silly little drey ferin president take over on that remark /silly /nf

Yeah exactly. I was kinda really pissed off at Neil reblogging that post that was like "ShOw SoMe ReSpEcT" because it was a stupid post policing and attempting to blame FANS for something AMAZON did. I get Neil was prob angry and upset at the time and he has since tried to clarify, but I still think its a shitty post.

Its a 2 second clip that just so happens to confirm something that the majority of fans have been desperately hoping for for 4 YEARS. Would it have been better to only find out whilst watching the show? Of course! But honestly? I now get to go into the show comfortably happy to watch it without any residual anxiety and fear of disappointment.

Because no matter how many posts people scream on this site about how "we dont need Crowley and Aziraphale to explicitly show us they are in love and together" deep down we know thats bullshit. Deep down we know that for it to actually count towards representation we needed season 2 to give us SOMETHING more than season 1. So that the queer media sites like Pink News could include Gomens in their articles, so that buzzfeed could include it in their canon queer ships listicles. So that heteronormative types could finally say "oh so not just best friends!" So that homophobes could stop screaming "WhY dO yOu PeOpLe HaVe To MaKe EvErYtHiNg GaY" at US and instead scream that at the creators like they did with Sandman whilst we all laugh at them.

People try to downplay the importance of a kiss because they are trying to prevent their own disappointment. So if a kiss doesnt happen they can say "i never needed a kiss. I KNOW it is queer anyway." But we should never downplay the importance of a kiss in queer media. Not when in the real world there are still people trying to make out that queer kissing is gross and explicit and obscene and should be kept hidden from children. Queer kissing needs to be as commonplace as straight kissing and only when THAT happens will I say "nah i didnt need a kiss to know they were queer."

So yes. This spoiler is everything. Not just everything. It's the breath of relief that I've been holding for 4 years. Its the weight of anxiety that has pressed on my shoulders finally being lifted. It's the faith in my favourite author and showrunner finally being rewarded. I was already excited to watch the show, but with the knowledge of the spoiler I am absolutely bouncing off the walls desperate to watch the show, chewing on my own arm desperate to watch the show! -this specific plot has been on my mind since 2020, but attending online lectures while getting plowed/eaten out, and having to hold back from moaning when youre unmuted. When you are muted, however, youre making all sorts of pretty noises. could be nanami or gojo

-hanging out with megumi and fucking his dad somehow without him noticing. Like toji eating you out while ur bent over the counter. Megumi walks in, but he cant see whats going on bc ur behind the counter. Toji, however, doesnt stop. If anything he starts doing MORE, teasing the fuck out of you knowing you cant make any noises.

Megumi asks if you’ve seen his dad, you choke out a “N-no, maybe hes in thehhh the backyard” He gives you a weird look, says okay, and then leaves the kitchen. the SECOND you hear the back door shut you let out a stream of moans for toji, whos very pleased by this whole ordeal

-This one is just straight up asking toji and geto to tag team you. And they do so, gladly. They take pictures, too

opens up a powerpoint presentation. ok ko is in my opinion overall a very good show. its incredibly funny, charming, and...sometimes well written story wise. unfortunately it has a very very big failing in a very very big plot point

tko himself is fine. i have no issues with his CHARACTER. i take issue with how his character is treated. tko is, by himself, a child with anger issues, he reacts very poorly to being agitated but like...

he has to be agitated first.

there is not a single example before season 3 where tko like, wrecks shit or whatever without being provoked, in his debut for example, hes just doing his job (albeit begrudgingly) before enid and rad provoke him, and he starts fighting them

however, the show always seems to act like tko is in the wrong, treats him like a villain despite his mostly heroic acts, is he PERFECT? no!! hes a fucking kid with anger issues!! he was locked inside a mind cage!! he doesnt know how to deal with things so he hits them!!! he just. happens to be able to hit things very very hard and with lightning bolts.

another example is the season 1 finale, youre in control. in yic tko. literally doesnt do anything wrong. like im not joking.

in yic tko gets let out to fight boxman jr and like...he does that. he throws boxman jr back to boxmore and then chases him over to boxmore. he does not attack a single hero in this episode. he does not do any damage to the plaza. the worst thing he does in this episode is put ko back in the cage. yet its STILL treated like hes doing something wrong???

another thing about tko. tko wants freedom. he says this outright. being locked inside a literal cage will do that to ya. i want to make sure real quick that we're on the same page here that locking a 6-11 year old boy inside a cage is bad no matter how badly he is at managing his anger issues right. right. okay. tko deserved to be uncaged. and he WAS. except...

when he gets out of the cage in youre in control. thats great and all but...his next appearance, tkos house, hes still upset. he still wants his freedom. its just that instead of being locked in a cage hes locked in a (pretty cool honestly) house. it doesnt matter how nice you make an enclosure, sometimes itll just never work for the animal. and thats what tko is like, he wants out, he wants control over the body, which like. is fucking fair?? im someone who REALLY understands the importance of going outside often, tko really deserves to be allowed outside their headspace. its good for you.

but tko DOESNT. GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he shows up. LITERALLY TWICE in season 2 (thats 40 episodes!) and NEITHER of his appearances (tkos house, dark plaza) does he even get to use the body on his own!! its always fused as pko!! he doesnt get a turn!!

and then when season three starts. uh. glances at tko rules. Yeah. The Subconscious. he gets trapped in a dark empty void for [checks notes] about two weeks. minimum.

what im getting at here. is that tko never really left that cage.

okay. im gonna touch on one more tko thing. the FUCKING finale. [furious]

quick recap, in the finale ko and tko have a plot twist moment where "oh hey! ko and tko are the same person actually! and now theyve accepted eachother as the same person and can be happy! hooray!" except like. mko (finale fusion) is just ko

like seriously hes JUST ko. his design? leaning towards kos features. his personality? LITERALLY just ko theres not a hint of tko there. its not the two of them "accepting eachother" or whatever its. its the writers killing off tko.

as well as like. a guy i know pointed this out and i cannot fucking get over it. if they were just going to ""fuse the two"" in the end then WHY. in GODS NAME. is tkos LITERAL FIRST LINE OF DIALOGUE.

maron had a paramour before wedding daenerys and he sent her away before the marriage because he knew daenerys would take offense to it, and he didn't want to risk the still fairly new targ-martell alliance, or risk angering daeron, which could theoretically pose a risk to maron's own sister. the family's one real conflict is that the paramour has a son who later shows up claiming he's maron's REAL oldest child and that aeron is actually a blackfyre. thankfully the dornish are not stupid and basically just go ????? before kicking the kid out. well actually a lot more happens than just that but yk how it is. that plotline is also only barely existant. i havent even read a knight of the seven kingdoms yet

i wanted to have something that's like. kind of same level as when healing hurts but for harley? because obviously in when healing hurts peter Goes Through It. broski is in Pain he almost Dies. not that harley is going to almost die - but his diagnosis is kind of based on my own, just less intense. and i did almost die and i was in a coma.

yo ok so i haven't actually read the manga however. i have seen devilman crybaby and its got Issues imo. i can tend to break down most of my main complaints into 4 or 5 points. it might get a bit long so imma put it beneath the cut :) also because spoilers for specific things perhaps

possesion anime in general is kind of a hit or miss concept to me. imo the only "possession"/gets powers type anime i really care for is parasyte. tokyo ghoul didnt do much for me from what i saw, havent seen csm but it doesnt do much for me either. likewise devilman just... doesnt really do it for me as far as its premise and initial set up goes (side note: does code geass count here? i have so many thoughts on that series it wouldnt fit here but regardless)

i feel bad for saying this but i really do not like devilman crybaby's artstyle. like it just does not look good to me. im okay with different artstyles but this one just looks ugly. sorry

i feel like the story is just. poor. not good. it starts much too slow for how insane the story gets on later. if you take a show it influenced (evangelion), its pretty up front with its premise up front. i know people have made jokes for years about how eva gets weird and its a bait and switch but like.... not really? like at its core it is a mecha show about kids fighting aliens in robots and even with the character study stuff it doesnt veer that far from that initial premise. devilman crybaby has... a nightclub rave where akira gets posssessed so some white boy can play god while akira does good at track? like its not a strong start and it only gets worse from there. again, i know the reason the end of evangelion ends the way it does is BECAUSE of devilman but like. they just did not execute that ending correctly at all the final few episodes feels so constrained and so much happens in such a short period that it feels like the ultimate anticlimax. its hard for me to care about any of what happens because so much happens in so little time. its worthless and makes me feel nothing as a viewer. these bitches gay! good for them. good for them. what's not good for them is the story. cuz it sucks.

this ties in with my general distaste for the story but i also feel the characters are super weak. again, i feel nothing towards them and they all feel like cardboard cut outs with little personality to them at all. it all returns to nothing so i have no reason to care about them when theyre all gonna be killed off screen in the most contrived and terrible battle sequence maybe ever. ryo is the worst offender by far. his character fucking sucks dude. i dont think he even does anything in the story besides ruin akira's life and then sit in his ivory tower and act gay until the narrative decides "actually he was Satan the whole time!!" fuck you. and fuck those rap battle dudes too your bars fucking suck

i think a final point to end this on is that it is just far and away so much worse than everything it influenced. even if i read the manga or watched the original devilman, im pretty sure the story would remain much the same. and as such, there is literally not reason to watch devilman (much less crybaby) in 2023 when literally everything that came after it is better. i realize this is kind of a silly argument given how i listen to music but im standing by it. just watch evangelion. watch parasyte. watch berserk. play shin megami tensei. consume literally anything else that isn't this trite

i think that's all my main points. im sure i had more but i wrote this over the course of my day whenever id think of something else so. if i think of any more criticisms i had and forgot i'll reblog this and amend the post. sorry it's so long i just had way more to say that i originally thought. lol

eventually, he finds himself dozing off and you take notice as his chin starts feeling heavy on your head

but you can tell he’s tired, especially from practice earlier today

so you turn off the game and turn so that you’re straddling his lap and hugging him tight

he wraps his arms around you and hums, kissing you

you smile and lean back to look at him, his eyes droopy from exhaustion

“sleep bby”

“mm only if you do too”

“i will dw <3″

and you just cling onto him, arms around his neck

he hums,  nuzzling your neck and you giggle

eventually, you two start breathing slowly, falling asleep

(tbh you didn’t rlly even care who won you just watched the game bc it was on LMAO)

you guys were hanging out in your room, his head in your lap while you sat up against your pillows

you were both occupied by your phones atm

he put his phone down, looking up at you curiously

you smiled as he reached to intertwine his fingers with yours

he had been at the gym more often, playing volleyball and practicing 

especially after their loss against karasuno :( 

today was one of the days that he decided he would spend his time being with you 

he doesn’t voice it often, but he appreciates how much you support him and care for him

(you picked him up from the gym the other day with some of his favorite deep fried chicken bits with the cute chicken packaging and he didn’t know how else to show you how much he loves and appreciates you other than by cuddling with you all night pls i’m </3)

anyways he’s just staring at you, admiring you, thinking about how much he loves you while you’re watching some tiktok your friend had sent you 

you had asked if he wanted to watch the game with you on your phone but he had been occupied thinking about you 

“what’d you say-?”

“i asked if you wanted to watch the game with me..? if you don’t want to it’s fine-”

“oh sure”

and he’d adjust himself so that he’s sitting with you, shoulder-to-shoulder, leaning his head so that it lays on top of yours

you’d just be all smiley, leaning into him more while playing the live stream of the game

he seemed focused, watching the game intently

you tried to focus on the game, but the only thing you could think about was the way kyoutani was holding your hand, rubbing the top of it with his thumb

eventually, as the game continues, he huffs a little, making you look up and smile at him

“you okay? we can stop watching if you want-”

“it’s fine-”

and then he adjusts himself, scooting away from you to lay his head in your lap

he reaches for your hand and puts it on his head, looking up at you

you oblige, gently rubbing his head and smiling

his eyes are closed, a slight hum coming from him

after a while, you realize kyoutani had fallen asleep, so you turn the game on your phone off

during this, kyoutani grumbles, reaching for your hand

you can’t help but giggle a little, rubbing his head while humming a little

“get some rest baby~” you croon quietly, staring at him lovingly

he opens his eyes a little, giving you a small smile

“you too okay..?”

“mhm-!”

when he closes his eyes, you smile, mumbling a little ‘i love you’ to your boyfriend

Spoilers, like massive spoilers, for TOTK under the cut. Also negative opinions on Botw and Totk under the cut

TLDR: Botw and Totk don't pay a lot of credit to older zelda's, and what they do is misrepresented, and also totk is trying to be a new version of an older game instead of being its own thing.

This is a filler sentence because i know in the notes under the cut doesn't work and sometimes people see the first sentence and get spoiled it happens to me and it sucks so ppl in the notes dont look anymore K?

Yes, I do totally think they overshadow older zelda games. Not in a 'they're better' way, but in a 'older zelda games? what are those?' way.

I mean, look at the Loz tag! its almost all botw or totk, and im just talking abt the popular page rn, (totk just came out ofc the recent page is gonna be totk that's obvious). The other posts are some (really good) art of midna, a character who even ppl who've only played botw are obsessed with cause shes hot

Part of this definitely has to do with COVID, and the influx of ppl buying switches, and therefore BOTW. And it's not their fault, if botw and totk are the only games they've played, until recently, nintendo didn't make a lot of their games accessible on the switch, and oot and mm still need a DLC to a paid service (which SUCKKKS)

But part of the reason it kinda annoys me is that Botw doesnt lend itself to the other games, except maybe skyward sword, but in the worst way possible. Playing botw doesn't really make people wanna play the older zelda games, especially because they're nothing alike. I've seen people complain that totk was gonna have bigger dungeons, because dungeons were the reason they avoided zelda before botw, and I don't want to be gatekeepy, but like, really? You're upset that a core part of the zelda series is returning, because you liked the easy puzzles of botw, and get mad that people wanted them back? (and this was before totk came out, and im sorry to say that while they're good, they're nowhere near the level of OOT or Sws)

Botw takes bare minimum lore from other zelda games, and the lore it takes is from skyward sword. And everyone knows that I love love love skyward sword, but it also misrepresents the lore it does take. Like, for example, Hylia. She is dead, she died pre-skyward sword to become Zelda. Botw not elaborating this and making her seem like an absent deity is kinda frustrating and a misrepresentation of one of the key themes of skyward sword.

And then tears of the kingdom comes along and just straight up implies that Hylia, and the golden goddesses for that matter, are not the source of zelda's, actually any of the zeldas post Skyward sword if you believe that rauru and sonia founded the first hyrule, but instead from the Zonai, who DIDN'T EXIST prior to botw. they weren't even hinted at in skyward sword. (No, that one swirl on the sandship was just a design. not a zonai rune ffs)

And right now, Totk feels like it's trying to redo and outdo OOT.

When I say "Sages" what game do you think of? It's true, OOT isn't the only game to have sages. TP, WW, ALBW, ALTTP (except its the maidens), and ST (lokomo sages count) all have sages, but you usually think of OOT and their medalions, because they're the most notable.

I mean, a sage story isn't anything new and isn't inherently OOT, but.

Seven sages (Including Zelda). Medalions/Secret Stones that enhance/contain bits of power, a light sage named rauru, who kinda looks like an owl. come on.

And then there's this blatant callback.

Ganondorf swearing his fealty (ITS THE SAME POSE) and zelda knowing he's evil, but then he kills someone and Zelda who knew he was evil couldn't protect them so she teams up with the sages to seal him away. Am i talking about totk or oot? You tell me

I've said in another post (I think it was an ask you sent me lol) that there's nothing wrong with a callback or a refernce, infact its good, but it feels like TOTK isn't trying to be TOTK, or even BOTW 2, but instead be OOT 2.

I was talking to someone abt it, and they said "It's trying to be a sequel to a game its not even a sequel too"

It's like its trying to be ocarina of time, but with the botw lore, because it was popular and sold a lot of copies. Its oot without the oot.

I said before I didn't want a lot of skyward sword references, because I wanted totk to be its own game, and i guess i got monkey's pawed because so far, besides the floating islands and the hylia statues, the only skyward sword reference was Fi noises, and instead totk became OOT but with minimal charm.

Sigh. rant over

Spoilers for Critical Role Campaign 3 Episode 34

After watching episode 33 last week, I knew tonight's episode was going to ruin me. But I didn't expect it would the way it did. Watching Imogens face as she dealt with the death of her best friend and someone she loved and treasured was horrible. Laura seemed truly heartbroken as she played it out. It never even occurred to me that Marisha would roll a Nat 1 on her death saves and Laudna would actually die. I was just so scared and worried about Fearne and Orym.

I also truly felt so sorry for Ashley, making the choice on who to save between 2 of the party members. If only some else had revify or if Sam had any spell slots left.

But most of all, I commend Marisha. Not once did she try to sway anyone in making the decision to bring her character back. In fact, she didn't even say anything about it. She just told everyone that she wanted to stay out of the groups decision.

And while I am extremely relieved that Fearne and Orym survived, I really am gonna miss Laudna. It's gonna be hard not seeing Marisha at the table next week until the party either find someone who can bring Laudna back or a new character gets introduced. The undead is now dead.

Hi! I’ve watched a lot of dimension 20 and never watched an episode of critical role, but I’m really curious about the cr miniseries with lou wilson, aabriya Iyengar, and brennan et al, will it make sense if I watch exu as a stand-alone? Is it more of a “you’ll enjoy it more if you know the world” or do I absolutely need to have watched some other stuff to even grasp what’s going on?

Hi! I had a similar situation when I first wanted to watch CR having not seen Campaign 1 and 2 but after doing some research I learned I didnt need to have watched any before getting into it. And fortunatly, EXU Calamity is technically a prequal to all the other CR main Campaign stuff so you dont really need to know much in order to watch. All you need to know is that the Calamity was a War fought hundreds of years before the begining of Campaign 1 and no matter what happens in the miniseries, its still gonna happen cause if it doesnt then the whole history of Exandria (the wonderful World created by Matthew Mercer) technically wont exsist. I will say there is a few nods to somethings that happen in Campaign 1 that I didnt completely understand but it in no way took any enjoyment or understanding from this particular storyline.

So in conclusion, no you dont have to have seen anything from past CR episodes to watch Exu Calamity. If you really want to, there are many videos, blog posts, articles, and even a whole Wiki dedicated to Critical Role where eveything can be explained in further detail if you really want to know more.

I'm also going to say that if you love Dimension 20 and its cast members, you will love CR, and youre gonna absolutely fall in love with Travis Willingham, Sam Reigal, and Marisha Ray.

Critical Role Campaign 3 Episode 33 Spoilers Ahead!

Not me just quietly sobbing for the past hour from the most recent episode of Critical Role. The thought of losing both Orym and Fearne is leaving me heartbroken. They're both my favourite characters in the party! I don't wanna say goodbye to them yet! I also don't want to wait a week to find out what happens. I cant imagine how Liam and Ashley are feeling about all of this either.

And what if they do both stay dead. Whos gonna tell Dorian?? Or even the rest of the Crown Keepers?? Or Fearne's family?? Or Keyleth and the Air Ashari??

But all that aside, it was otherwise a fantastic episode. It kept me at the edge of my seat for nearly 4 hours. And it was such an emotional roller-coaster, what with the seige and getting Treshi out and then the horrible boss fight with Ottahan. Matt Mercer, I salut you. You are one incredible Dm!

My #1 post of 2022

I'm only recently getting into Critical Role but I've been a fan of Dimension 20 for over a year now and watching Brennan GM for CR is amazing. His style is so obviously different from Matt and Aabria, who are both very talented GM's in their own right. But theres something in the way each player at the table gets so enthralled by what he's saying that is just so beautiful. The way Brennan tells a story, how he pitches his voice, every inflection on his words is just pure talent. He really is a born storyteller and I'm glad those in the Critical Role fandom who aren't apart of D20's and arent familar with Brennan get to experience it
