Other than the lie you just admitted to telling, where is the lie you told? Glad you asked! It’s the central claim that you just reiterated, that George Lucas “was trying to screw her out of credit for the film in the most divorced way possible.”

The reasons Lucas had for re-editing his films are as follows: he wanted to refine the technology for the prequels. And he also wanted to complete his vision for the original films. And he wanted to clean up the original film negatives for preservation. And yes, he probably also saw a commercial opportunity to make money from the 20th anniversary rerelease. None of these were the only reason for making changes to the films. That they were all at play at the same time is the result of Lucas seeing an opportunity where he could achieve multiple artistic, technological, and business goals with one project: finishing his films.

This is why the changes he made to A New Hope were things he was dissatisfied with all the way back when he was making the film in 1977. Things like unsatisfactory special effects, and scenes they couldn’t complete like the introduction to Mos Eisley as a proper city, or the Jabba scene.

This is beside the point, but guess who was disappointed they had to cut the Jabba scene from the theatrical release? Marcia Lucas.

From a Rolling Stone interview George Lucas did in August 1977: “THX was about 70% of what I wanted it to be. I don’t think you ever get to the point where it is 100%. Graffiti was about 50% of what I wanted it to be but I realized that the other 50% would have been there, if I just had a little more time and a little more money. Star Wars is about 25% of what I wanted it to be. It’s really down there quite a bit. It’s still a good movie, but it fell so short of what I wanted it to be. And everyone said, ‘Well, Jesus, George, you wanted the moon for Chrissake, or you wanted to land on Pluto and you landed on Mars.’”

And you can see by watching A New Hope with your own eyes that while Lucas did make extensive changes to some scenes, he actually paid careful attention to preserving the shot-to-shot cuts that Marcia had made when she originally edited the Death Star battle. That sequence was the main contribution Marcia made to the film before she left the project in November 1976 to edit New York New York for Martin Scorsese. She came back to Star Wars in May 1977 to do some minor touch-ups to the final cut that was otherwise entirely overseen by George, Richard Chew, and Paul Hirsch. All of this is thoroughly documented publicly available information that you can read about further in J.W. Rinzler’s “Making of Star Wars” books and Dale Pollock’s “Skywalking: The Life and Films of George Lucas.”

Compare this meticulous attention to the original momentary editing on the Death Star battle to the much more extensive re-editing of the The Phantom Menace — a film that Marcia Lucas had no involvement. The opening flag parade before the podrace and second lap are greatly extended, the puppet Yoda is replaced entirely with a computer-animated Yoda, and the entire picture was given a new color grade on the Blu-ray. And in Attack of the Clones, the Coruscant chase and escape of Count Dooku were significantly re-cut.

Again, neither of these films were edited by Marcia, and yet their revisions are far more extensive than any sequence in the original trilogy that she worked on. And to be clear, on both the original trilogy and prequel trilogy, it is entirely George Lucas’ prerogative to do what he did, because they are his films that he created and (at the time) owned.

Your claim that George Lucas was only re-editing his films to erase the contributions of Marcia Lucas precludes all of these objective truths about what his motivations and artistic process are actually like, and I think that these falsehoods represent a fundamental problem with how you understand film history and film as an art form. And I think it would be better for yourself to re-examine your ignorance about this, and better for culture as a whole if others who currently think like you do would do the same re-examination unto themselves.

the internet consensus these days is that the george lucas hate of the last few decades was overblown which is kinda true but george still deserves all the shit for ‘fixing�� (aka removing and digitally redoing) the groundbreaking special effects work that won that team Oscars in 1978. 

because of this, you literally cannot buy a restored copy of the original theatrical release with the oscar-winning effects intact, and it’s because george always had beef with the original effects artists and wanted to discredit their work. it’s really sad because his revisions of history worked! one of those effect supervisors who got an Oscar, Robert Blalack, died this year and was honored in memorium at the 2022 Oscars. but the effects they showed to honor him (the death star sequence) actually weren’t his original work at all, but digital effects redone by george in 1997. george lucas was always too comfortable to discredit others work and legacy on the basis that it was his sole creative vision that others were merely working on. it was shitty to artists and shitty for the culture. Disney is a different type of evil toward creativity but george did more than his fair share of playing dirty too and that shouldn’t be forgotten

Summary: He always watched you from afar, never brave enough to talk to you.

You were hustling through the hallway, your books and notebooks tightly pressed against your chest, when it happened. The sound of items hitting the floor echoed down the empty corridor.

Your dice scattered in every direction.

You froze, feeling a rush of embarrassment.

Of all the days, this had to be the one.

Your heart raced as you rushed to pick up everything.

A familiar pair of boots comes into view, followed by Eddie Munson’s face peering down at you. His eyes are wide, almost amused, as he bends down to help you pick up the scattered items. You mumble an apology, feeling even more flustered, and then catch a glimpse of something unexpected.

"Looks like someone’s having an eventful afternoon," he said, kneeling down to help you gather everything.

You let out a nervous laugh, heat rising to your cheeks. 

"Yeah, sorry about that. Didn’t mean to make a scene."

"No big deal," he replied casually, handing a dice back to you. "You into this kind of game, then?"

You hesitate, feeling your heart skip a beat. His curiosity makes your palms sweat a little, but how he looks at you makes it easier to talk about it. 

"I’ve been into it for a while. I usually play as a rogue. Like sneaking around and outsmarting people. Do you play?"

He grinned, obviously pleased by the topic of conversation. 

"I’m the one who sets it all up—Dungeon Master. Someone’s gotta keep things interesting. It’s a lot of work, but I love it." of course he was. It fit him so well. "You know," he starts slowly, his eyes searching yours as if looking for something. "I’ve wanted to talk to you for a while now."

You blink, caught off guard. "Really? I... didn’t know that."

He shrugs, a bit of colour rising to his cheeks. 

"Yeah. I guess I’ve always been a little nervous about it. You seem so... well, cool. Out of my league, maybe."

You raised an eyebrow, trying not to let the compliment catch you off guard. 

"Out of your league? That’s kind of ridiculous."

He seemed to relax a bit, and a hint of a grin returned to his face. 

"Maybe. But you’re smart, you’re funny, and you seem into the same things I am. I just didn’t think it’d ever happen."

You bit your lip, trying to find the right words. 

"Well, you know, I’ve actually been kind of into you too."

"Wait, really?" he blinked, looking genuinely surprised. 

"Yeah," you said, feeling a bit nervous. "I’ve liked you for a while, actually. I just never said anything."

He took a step closer, his expression softening, a smile on his lips.

"That’s... kind of a surprise."

You let out a small laugh, feeling the tension slowly leave the air between you.

For a moment, you both just stood there, the hallway seeming almost empty except for the two of you. He finally spoke up, his voice low and thoughtful. 

"So, what now?" he asked rather nervously.

"We could grab a coffee sometime, maybe talk more about D&D... or, you know, just hang out." you shrugged your shoulders. 

"That sounds perfect." he liked the idea. 

As you started walking down the hallway, talking about your favourite campaigns and possible new storylines, it felt like the world turned in a new direction. 

And maybe, just maybe, you and Eddie were finally going in the right direction, together.

fave scene rn: ekko letting vi go back to jinx despite literally everything (an incomprehensible tangent)

ekko watching vi still stand on a resolve that he had abandoned long ago and still understanding her for it is soooo. Like knock me on the head w a brick instead. Just my own interpretations of these lil guys whose hearts r too big to contain in themselves . Awesomesauce

vi reveals her current predicament: she doesn't want to leave jinx . not again . even if she had become a direct witness of what her sister had become. top it off that the last surviving semblance of family she has tied with her powder also testifying that what she saw was real: powder is gone

but i just. Like. Ekko doesn't immediately lash out or anything. He just goes on to say the same thing he had already said when they were looking at the mural, she can't be changed

And it's so .. ekko says these things like they're a script of some kind . He has thought of these things before, hell, he has said these things to himself before . their first conversations about jinx entails the same thing

He shows her the mural. He tells her Jinx is a byproduct of choice. She functions from an innate desire for destruction. Powder is Gone and he is so sure of it . Viscerally against any belief that says otherwise

yet despite everything. when vi says this

Like. There's this look of. It's as if he's saying Yeah Of course you would. Of course you'd want to try. Of course you can't not have even a pint of some semblance of love for her still . And to his understanding, that pursuit is a hopeless one

HE STILL ALLOWS HER TO TRY .. PURSUE THIS OTHERWISE PERCEIVED DEADEND CHASE .. EKKO WHATTTJSJDD .....

AND it feels so insane. despite all the hate you have harboured for jinx you still let vi tread down the same path you did and otherwise probably regretted .. you still let her walk right back into the brutal pursuit of discovering the truth ...

it can imply a lot of things imo .. 🐢

Ekko wants Vi to find that resolve of his that Powder is gone herself (see point 3 why)

Ekko actually, genuinely, wants to see what if she pursued her instead? What if she tried to save her? Would it have changed anything? Would it be different if it's her? An underlying hope he won't explicitly acknowledge ..?

Ekko just knows no matter what he says Vi's heart will always be too big to tame. And in a way Ekko reflects the same attribute. He understands her, while it could be because he grew up with her, i think it's because he relates too. Ekko IS an emotional person . His decisions often stem not that he can do something, but he can't help but do it . He is rational and smart by nature so often these decisions don't always harbor the worst of consequences as the Firelights leader .. he can't help but hate silco so he leads the people well . He can't help but want zaun to prosper so he risks trusting caitlyn, an enforcer . he can't help but love the firelights so he breaks that 5 minute limit to avenge his fallen comrade . he can't help but have an attachment to the people he once loved so he hesitates delivering the final blow to his best friend in a bloody fistfight . he can't help but understand vi so he lets her go

can u tell i love point 3 the most . ekko & vi's paralleling natures .. your love too big you fools. i love u dearly

anyway yes. Just a random tangent. I love vi & ekko. they're one of, if not, my fave duo in the entire story . their hearts too big. Their love too strong.. they'll kill them!!!!

DUDE dark romance Chris is my Roman Empire. Him and Yunho just fit that possessive/obsessive clingy dom character so well. Hyunjin and Minho would fit their own dark romance categories well, in different ways! And obvs dark Mommy!Seonghwa is elite, as you’ve written so perfectly so many times.

I love a Dom like “you’re mine” while fucking you slow and hard. He’s literally crying and chanting that you belong to him and only him while you’re folded like a pretzel. Also love a total submission moment with bondage so you’re tied up completely and overstimulated and he’s just pulling orgasm after orgasm out of you. Making you say you’re his and showing you why, because no one else has ever, and will never make you feel this way.

Yeah, I agree with you in that the dark romance aesthetic just suits yunho and bang chan so well and I'll only write dark fic for idols who to me have that unlocked 'dark' energy in them.

Those type of idols where I watch them and I'm like 'hey, I see some darkness In you, I see some slight toxicity there, let's see if I can bring that out' haha.

I agree, I think Hyunjin and Lee Know fit the 'dark fic' aesthetic and I will write 'dark fics' for them in the future but for me, I think the stray kids who have the most delectable energy for a 'dark fic' is actually Jeongin.

That's because I think Jeongin is the real 'dark horse' of Stray Kids and I will be definitely writing a dark fic with Jeongin this year but I gotta work on it first b/c I find it difficult to get into his head and write him accurately.

This! It's this exact scene in 'Hallucination' where he has the slightly psychotic Joker smile and it just DOES something to me, he's an Aquarius and Aquarius men (Michael C Hall (Dexter), Christian Bale (American Psycho) )are just amazing at playing absolute psychos.

Ya'll... I just watched the new Sonic movie (Sonic 3) and I have to say... I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Me ranting about it after the cut!!

SONIC 3 SPOILERS!!

1) Okay, so, first of all. The movie was amazing. I felt so giddy and excited when I was sitting in the movie theate, just waiting for the next thing to happen.

2) I had to hold back my tears when Tom got brutally punched by Shadow, mainly at hoe Sonic reacted at that... poor boy thought he lost another parent:( I didn't want to cry in front of of my brothers. (They would've bullied me bc they always do)

2) Maria was sososososo pretty!!! I really wished that we could've seen more of the sibling dynamic between her and Shadow, but I honestly loved the relationship they had.

4) My boy Tails should've had more screen time though...💔 Along with knuckles...💔 (I understand they already had enough going on in the movie, and I think if they did what I wanted, it probably would've made the movie uncomfortably cramped)

5) TAILS LOOKED SO CUTE WITH THE HELMET ON IN THE HELECOPTER ATVTHE BEGINNING OMG⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️ I mentally agreed with Agent Stone when he said Tails was adorable, because he is.

6) Honestly, kinda wished Stone and Tails built up a friendship between them. Would've been fun to see them interact more! (Again, same thing I said earlier in nr.4)

7) I actually thought about this before seeing the movie. If I remembered correctly, the movie is based of Sonic adventure 2 (I believe) And Amy Rose was the one who comforted Shadow and got him to turn from evil to good? (I THINK. I SAW A PLAY THROUGH LIKE 10 YEARS AGO, DON'T YELL AT ME😭) So, I wondered how the would go about this. Honestly, the fact that Sonic comforted Shadow was a little odd to me, but what Sonic said was sweet. Since this is the movies we're talking about, it's on brand that Sonic was comforting him, since basically every single live action Sonic movie has him comforting SOMEBODY. Honestly, I liked it.

8) And... THE WAY MR. OLD REBOTNIC (can't remember name💔) GOT KILLED!?!?!? WHAT!?!? YOU'RE TELLING ME HE FOT STABBED IN THE BUTT BY A SUPER POWERED ALIEN HEDGEHOG QUIL, GOT LUNCHED UP, AND GOT INCINERATED BY A DAMN SHEILD!?!? Woah. Imagine telling other people how you died and someone says THIS to you??? My one brother quite literally looked at me like this when that happened: "😧" (my other brother laughed his arse off)

9) And the final message Robotnic gave Stone?? Omg, you can NOT tell me they didn't have SOMETHING going on over there....

10) Finally, the end credit scene... METAL SONIC AND AMY???? ARAGARAGATSGA!!!! Sigh, Why must I wait for the 4th movie to come out... 😔 (PLEASE GIVE REVERSE SONAMY IN THE NEW MOVJE OLEASE PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE PLEA) Also, when Amy revealed herself a little boy (who had a Sonic CAPE mind you) yelled out "IT'S AMY!!!" He might be a bigger fan then me chat... (I forgot my Tails plush 😔)

11) Fun mini fact about me, I'm not much of a Shadow fan (Don't come at me) so I've never been too interested in him. However, the movie got me much more interested in him, and Shadow is now up there with the others. (Also made me feel much more for the poor boy :<)

12) Overall, the movie was literally the best one I have seen in a WHILE. Even though the movie had a lot going on, I still felt immersed in the story the whole way through. Character development was was amazing, Sonic crashing out was SO COOL??? Tails and Knuckles trying to stop him was just as amazing. Tails looking like a scared kid while Sonic and Knuckles were disagreeing tugged SO HARD onto my heart strings💔 I really recommend the movie, it was a great watch. I do however recommend watching the first two movies before watching the third one.

From Codywan (10 year Clone War AU, this is a year 7 between Cody and Fox because I love writing their insane brothers dynamic)

Cody ended up watching Fox draft reports for several hours before they actually ate anything. After some debate, they opted for take-away food, ordering an array of grain and meat dishes with different fried vegetables and sauces. A droid delivered the food to the Guard barracks, and they sat on the couch in Fox’s quarters. Fox dumped a packet of spicy orange sauce onto a bowl of grain and scooped it into his mouth with a spoon, barely pausing to chew. “Will you slow down? You’re going to choke,” Cody said, frowning. He couldn’t help but notice how much grayer Fox’s hair had gotten in the last year. “Will you eat your food and stop worrying about me?” Fox glared at Cody and pulled a container of batter-fried vegetables towards him.  “Fine,” Cody said, picking the nuna out of his grain bowl with a fork and eating each piece one by one. “Have you talked to Wolffe recently?” “No, I was going to ask you the same thing.” Fox dumped another packet of sauce onto his food. “No, I haven’t. He’s still out on Cato Neimoidia, as far as I know.” Cody glanced around Fox’s room while Fox was busy inhaling another container of grain and vegetables. The bed was made, the desk tidied. There was a beautiful green glass thing standing on one corner of the dresser. Cody craned his neck to get a better view. It wasn’t really a shape that he could identify, but something about it called to mind an embrace. His chest caught as he gazed at it. Fox caught him looking and scowled. Cody raised his hands in surrender and went back to picking the nuna out of his food. “You know you can just order the meat, right?” Fox said testily. “Saves you the work of hunting for it and getting shit all over my couch.” “Piss off,” Cody retorted. He wasn’t sure why Fox was having a go at him, but he wasn’t surprised. It happened with them from time to time—they’d catch each other at the wrong angle, make a comment at the wrong time, and their relationship would turn into a warzone for a few days. They always worked through it, but sometimes it took the detonation of a few stray mines to make it happen. Cody wondered if he could speed the process along at all. “When’s the last time you got laid?”

sorry im just thinking about bcs but like. why not add a few smaller scenes of gus interacting with his own men? why does it seem like, in comparison, mike is almost immediately elevated to a higher status than those two in bcs purely because we actually get to see him having normal conversations with gus? like i understand they might not keep the plot moving as well because of the fact obviously if victor is currently doing something it’s because gus told him to etc. but for the most part all of the smaller interactions gus does have with those two ends up being in a somewhat high stress situation where it feels very tense between everyone. and it’s just like damn! is it always like that?? why do those two even care that much about their jobs if their boss is a bit of a dick? etc. i think even an additional scene or two with those guys (either alone or the both of them) talking with gus in a more normal situation could’ve both added a bit more depth into how gus treats his employees (we got a lot with how he treats lyle and co., but not a whole lot with the illegal side of things), how comfortable vic and tyrus feel around him in a calmer setting, and exactly why they both feel the need to be as loyal as they are to the guy.

and also on the other side of this i don't think it'd hurt to maybe elaborate on their pay just a bit..? i'm not saying to randomly put a number out into the atmosphere but i just mean some smaller things like. do they buy nicer things for themselves? what's their housing situation? what's their car situation? are the escalade / yukon their own vehicles or does gus just use those two for business situations? do they use them when they're doing their own stuff off the clock or do they have their own cars? etc. that can also help with understanding their motivations a bit. don't get me wrong i don't think they should be visibly rich or something because that's not what gus would want but just smaller things! cause it's easy to write their loyalty off as Well they probably get paid super well, which i'm sure is true, but if they don't show a single hint of that then what's the point. even something as simple as giving tyrus a nice watch, or maybe victor having a nicer looking gun, etc. something small like that. because as it stands right now the average 41 year old viewer who watched the show once only knows and will only ever know victor and tyrus as those two guys in the background who do random stuff for gus with no clear motivation. just the personification of "On it boss (salute emoji)". and to be honest this is true for a whole lot of fans who do watch the show multiple times and enjoy thinking about it more in depth, because on screen we barely have anything about the two.

and to be clear i'm not trying to say we should have an episode just for them or something like no i understand they're side characters. i understand we don't need all that. and i understand this is also primarily Jimmy's show. but it's not like these two are on the same level as like, arlo or paige and kevin etc. these guys have been around since brba. victor was literally introduced in the same episode gus was. and they are a huge part of gus's story, especially in brba. s4 wouldn't have been what it was without victor and tyrus. and in bcs, ignacio's situation wouldn't have been the same if it weren't for victor and tyrus as well. and i just personally believe that if their goal with gus in bcs was to go back and elaborate on how everything came to be and show what he was like a few years younger, they could've dragged victor and tyrus into that. and i think his character would've benefited from taking that extra step with those two.

Random limlife Scott rant, GO!

I got this ask and decided that I’d give it my best shot but got so mad on my skim through some of the moments I remembered that I gave up.

in my imagination the sculptures of anything goes music video starts off with an aerial view of a perfect reconstruction of the car album cover, and then the camera lowers down slowly in the direction of the toyota corolla until it's level with the roof and then (it's the same shot, no cuts) it goes into the car and it's alex by the steering wheel. it's a continuous shot but every bass drop (stab?) there's a flash of different images associated with wealth from the song (a blank canvas, marble stairs, a chandelier, etc), and this goes on for most of the mv btw, until the second chorus).

then okay official first cut. it focuses on alex as if the camera was on the passenger seat and he turns the car on and drives down from the parking lot and into the street (plenty of cuts here, showing the car going down the parking lot, out of it and into the street, etc). it's the "perfoming in spanish on italian tv" part of the song now so when he's driving down the streets (the city is deserted and it's sunset now, btw) it cuts to the car driving by a screen billboard where it's alex singing with an old-timey looking microphone in an empty-looking tv set. he keeps driving and stops by a museum-looking art gallery. he steps out of the car (that he parked in front of the gallery) and walks up the stairs and into it. the camera follows his back until he walks through the door just as it says "blank canvasses" and we see that inside the gallery it's a film set (with the lights, scaffolding, cameras, the whole shabang) where the grips are setting up marble statues and abstract paintings. he walks by them through the middle of the set (the camera is still following him from behind), with no one even noticing him, and he goes up the left side of the double staircase at the back of the gallery (it's a real museum, they're just using it as an set in the mv).

it cuts to him at the top where he turns left into a corridor with ambiet lighting, carpeted floor, etc. on the walls there's a bunch of mirrors with fancy frames (and we can see a bunch of alexes reflecting each other as he walks by), and just as the song says "guess i'm talking to you now" alex mouths the words while staring at himself in one of the mirrors, then lowers his head and keeps walking. he opens a door into a room that looks like the cutting room from the body paint music video, and he rumages through the mess on the tables (and while he does the camera shows a bunch of details on the walls and on the mess, just little easter eggs to other songs, like in the body paint mv) until he finds the simulation cartridge for city life 09. it focuses on the cartridge in his hands just as it says "when you said them out loud" and it cuts back to the view we had of the double staircase from downstairs, and alex appears from the left side putting the cartridge in his inside pocket) and he walks down the stairs. while going through the set again on his way back, he accidently stumbles on someone we don't see the face of, but he quickly apologizes without really looking back and keeps on his way. the camera cuts to show that the guy is also alex who looks at the initial alex going through the door and out of the gallery with a furrow on his eyebrows. then a grip hands him a megaphone and he snaps out of it, sitting in a director's chair and pointing and shouting out orders to everyone.

we cut to the first alex already on the last steps in front of the museum (it's fully night now), opening the car door and going inside the car. we're inside the car with him now, back on the passenger seat, and there's a beat where he takes a deep breath, and then he turns the key in the ignition exactly in time with the guitar drop right before "leading to almost wherever you want them to" and we see the car driving off (with the camera stationary) while he finishes the elongated noted of "to" and there's the next big drop. it cuts to the car pulling up next a sidewalk in a small neighborhood (the pov is as if the camera is on the floor and we can look at the small commerce, the old looking lamp posts, and there's an ocean in the horizon, until the car comes into view and blocks most of the lens, parking), but it's also deserted, and it's clearly dawn btw. alex steps out of the car and walks into a café (of course there's a small cut to the door opening and ringing a bell, cliché and all). there's a barista wiping the balcony (who doesn't look up at him) but no one else, and he walks towards a small table for two at the very back of the establishment. just as it says "cartridge" on the song it cuts to the bell on the door again and we follow this figure with a hat and trenchcoat walking towards alex at the back of the café (at first alex is blurry on the bg, the back of the guy is what's in focus, then it shifts as he gets closer so we see alex's eyes lifting to meet the guy's as he gets closer to him--the walk up takes as long as to get to the words "come by" in the song). he takes his hat off and places it on the table (where we can see there's a coffee mug halfway drank that alex had ordered) as he sits down opposite to alex, but we still can't see his face. alex takes out the cartridge from his inside pocket and slides it across the table (the action is the exact duration of the line "now that's my idea of a good time"). it cuts to a super close up of just the bottom half of the guy's face where we can see him curling up one side of his mouth in a smirk just as it says "flash that angle grinder smile" of course. there's a huge flash when it says "gasp!" and a super close up of alex's eyes widening just as there's the actual gasp. it quickly cuts to the guy's gloved hand holding a shotgun under the table with smoke coming out of the barrel, and alex's top half falling on the table. he's dead.

we see the guy's hands grabbing the cartridge and his hat from the table as he stands up, and we follow him to the door from his back as he puts his hat back on (we can see the barista in the background, unfazed). he stops at the door and when he turns to the camera, to look at alex's direction, we see that he's also alex. he puts sunglasses on and opens the door in time with the stab after "umbrella" and walks out. it cuts to an angle where we can see the toyota corolla from above, and it shows him going around the car and entering it. it cuts to inside the car (just after "tune" in the song), as if the camera is on the passenger seat filming him, and he turns the car on and starts driving. it cuts to outside again, the same angle when alex pulled up earlier, and we see the car driving down the road in the direction of the ocean/horizon, and then turning right, out of sight.
