the way the absence of john winchester haunt sam and dean in ways that are more real than any ghost they have ever faced. the way john echoes so loudly in the narrative even in episodes he’s not mentioned, in seasons where he never appears. the way john possesses dean when he’s angry and sam when he’s grieving. the way john is the one true god of the narrative, the absent father who does not answer prayers or phone calls. the righteous man who does not break in hell but breaks down and hands his child a gun. john and the memory of his holy mary. john the prophet and his sacred text. john and his prodigal son that he knows has to die.

#disventure camp#disventure camp fanart#tristan vik#disventure camp tristan#ghostofsnails#my art#It would be SO tedious to post all of these separately but to be honest ive been dead for so long that i think its just funnier like this#like. yeah. just in case you guys have been wondering what i've been up to.#I have like 2 more i think but i'll give them their own post so i can explain them#ive never hyperfixated on a character like this in my entire life. usually a character hyperfix is super intense and lasts like 2ish weeks.#GUYS ITS BEEN 2+ MONTHS. AND I STILL CANT THINK ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR CARTOON GOTH NONBINARY SILLY PERSON#actually fuck you can i write an essay in tags about why i love them. this is tumblr. and whose even gonna read this anyways. fukit we ball#i followed dc kinda casually as a guilty pleasure for a while but i was instantly drawn to tristan when the designs for the s4 cast dropped#i was like You're telling me there's a GOTH who is UPBEAT and isnt designed like a flawless elf TWINK and is NONBINARY? ME FR????#LIKE OHH THE GOTH NB GETS TO LOOK A LITTLE WEIRD. THEY GET TO BE UNCONVENTIONAL. my aesthetic attraction to them goes crazy. vampire style.#i remember when they got revealed people redesigned them to look more generically pretty & it PAINED ME bc it missed the point SO. BADLY.#ik some people find them boring also & even tho i disagree i can see it if u dont rlly care abt alt stuff. but for me the fact theyre so#kind & upbeat & extroverted WHILE being a SUBCULTURAL GOTH is the draw bc while i do get a kick out of the exaggerated depressed goth#stereotype - its not exactly true to life and so seeing a character that looks and acts like me and real goths makes feel so seen and happy#they also capture my desire to have goth friends SO BADLY im projecting on them SO HARD. They are such top tier friend material you guys...#AND THEYRE A FASHION DESIGNER WHICH FEELS SO IN THEME WITH BEING GOTH THAT IT MAKES ME SO JOYOUS AND CRAZY.#its all so funny because im 100x more excited about getting good goth rep than nonbinary rep LMFAOOO but them being nb is SO important too#Not to mention their voice actor is FANTASTIC and elevates them SOOO MUCH. Also the amount the va is obsessed with them fed my obsession -#sooo insanely you guys.... i feed off of other peoples emotional attachments. AND THEIR ACTING FOR TRIS ADDS SO MUCH DEPTH TO THEIR#CHARACTER IF YOU LOOK FOR IT. I COULD LITERALLY WRITE ESSAYS ABOUT TRISTAN YOU GUYS. IM NOT INSANE.#god you guys this is the first time ive ever had a genuine “i feel seen” feeling from a fictional character I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE NOW.#i LOVE NONBINARY PEOPLE EXPRESSING THEMSELVES. I LOVE HOW QUEERNESS AND GOTH CULTURE INTERSECTS AND HOW THATS REPRESENTED IN TRISTAN#THEY MEAN SO MUCH TO ME. AND I KNOW THEY MEAN SO MUCH TO SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. WHICH JUST MAKES THEM MEAN EVEN MORE TO ME. I LOVE LIFE.#its an endless feedback loop i fear. im trapped in it & loving every second. i will be drawing them until i am in my grave & maybe after.

speaking from experience having got a few tv and film credits under my belt at this point, all of these behind the scenes videos confirm to me that Taylor really is just an actor’s dream as a director and selfishly, I hope I get to work with her

Haunted by this image of Barry Sloane and Richard Short's faces photoshopped over John and Paul's faces. Uncanny valley. Absolutely unsettling. Weirdest promo ever

once again losing my mind over hotd's writing bc just when i think they finally nailed it, it turns out it's 95% okay to pretty good, and then that last 5% is absolute dogshit to the point that it threatens the entire script with utter mediocrity. every now and then an actor will talk about how much freedom they get during a scene which is great, but how does that work when the writers and showrunners seem 100% aligned with some actors in some scenes, leading to alignment with the audience as well - and sometimes, it's like the writers showrunners and actors are all living on different planets.
like you want this thing with alicent and cristy cole to be this seductive intrigue, but meanwhile the audience is still wondering how the hell we got here. we have alicent hightower who is so tradcath she couldn't imagine a worse fate for a woman than being "sullied" out of wedlock when she was a teenager, she cared for viserys but had no passion for him (had no passion for anything besides her own children and her own trauma tbh), you cannot convince me that she ever thought of sex as anything pleasurable or even remotely intriguing after the life she has led, and we're just expected to believe that she has a spicy affair with the lord commander of the kingsguard? the thing is, i could believe it. but like, you've gotta put in the work to make that happen. you have to write it down. you have to tell us how we got here. subtext doesn't just materialize out of thin air, subtext is part of writing too. there's a reason why when you read asoiaf, everyone who reads it picks up on the same subtext at the same time, because it is put there on purpose, not just assumed that everyone will come to the same conclusion about some vague noncommittal strokes.
it was bad enough that rhaenyra and daemon had hardly any dialogue in season 1 about their relationship, but they still made it work because they at least got the screentime. the worst part is that the weird close-talking alicent and cole did in season 1 was 100x more interesting than whatever is going on here. like fabien frankel correctly interpreted cole as absolutely dead inside beyond anything that has to do with rhaenyra (onto whom he projects all his embarrassment and fear), olivia cooke is doing her absolute best to keep alicent rooted, and the script is giving them absolutely nothing besides instructions to look at each other meaningfully and it's giving absolutely nothing, idk, and they don't even really do that bc they still don't show cole's face much. what is even going on here
same issues now with rhaenyra and daemon bc the showrunners say "they've got each other's backs" and we can clearly see with our eyes that daemon does not have rhaenyra's back. and rhaenyra lets him do whatever bc she can't control him and for no other reason. this is, in fact, far from the first time he has abandoned her in her hour of need, and far from the first time he has broken a promise to her. rhaenyra's dialogue is relegated to stating the obvious and telling us exactly what she is thinking at all times, while daemon's dialogue is either thin or nonexistent because since season 1, the writers have interpreted "morally gray" as "we will not write down his motivations bc you have to decide his motivations for yourself." which is not only not what morally gray means, but it's also why the audience is at best completely confused about who daemon is as a character.

since we’re on this topic, jeremy strong, sarah snook, and brian cox are the main succession cast members who publicly called for a ceasefire in gaza last year (along with a painfully short list of others in the industry). here's brian cox reading "If I Must Die" by Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer who was killed Dec 7.
so if we must spend time on celebrities’ voices (+ disproportionate cultural influence) on the current crisis we should at least elevate the right ones.

the play did last nearly 3 hours (including breaks) but the time passed fairly quickly. I hadn't read the description, mom has read the book so that's why we decided to go, all I knew was that nietzsche and freud were in it and I had mistakenly assumed that the two of them interact so I was taken a bit by surprise. but other than that I really enjoyed it, it was a small theatre with only 3 actors and not many props or scenery but the simplicity really added to the story I think. and the actors were really good!!
