Where did you watch Tesis? I can't seem to find it anywhere and I typically avoid pirating due to paranoia but it intrigues me so I'd consider pirating it

I'm glad I convinced you to watch tesis bc of Chema (literally look at his face!!!). At least here in Spain it's available on Netflix and then some other platforms (but you have to pay. I wouldn't tbh.)

If you have access to a vpn and a netflix subscription, then i recommend trying a spanish account (i don't know if latin america has access to it, it would be interesting to hear about it!)

It's really weird it's not more accessible, some consider it a Fundamental movie in our cinematography. much to think about.

Not sure if anyone’s familiar with Teatro Lope de Vega’s production of Les Miserables (Los Miserables) that was in Madrid in 2011. But I cannot recommend it enough. It’s professionally filmed and available on Youtube (it is in Spanish, but like…it’s really good…so)

Mientras caminas por las calles de Tlaquepaque en Guadalajara, decides acudir a una pizzería llamada La Valentina. Al llegar, te sientas y le pides al bartender un Moscow Mule. Lo tomas tranquila y feliz, entablas una conversación con él, y le cuentas que eres de (tu país) con una gran sonrisa.

A medida que pasa el tiempo, te das cuenta de que el bartender está muy ocupado. Miras a tu alrededor y ves a tres chicos guapos, pero hay uno en particular que llama más tu atención. Te das cuenta de que no son mexicanos; tienen un acento argentino. Sin embargo, el chico que estás mirando tiene un acento muy peculiar.

Sigues disfrutando de tu trago, y el chico se acerca a ti, diciendo: "Disculpa, eh... es que mis amigos me retaron a que te hablara, porque te ves hermosa y, en realidad, no sé cómo hablarte. Ah... ¿te apetece un trago en la terraza y una pizza? Veo que no has ingerido ningún alimento", dice con timidez.

Sonríes y le respondes, repitiendo sus palabras: " 'No has ingerido ningún alimento', suena muy formal, ¿no? Es que cuando estás tomando un trago, la comida va al final, like the end," dices, terminando en inglés.

Cuando suben las escaleras hacia la terraza de La Valentina, te quedas asombrada al contemplar el paisaje nocturno, con una iglesia colonial antigua como telón de fondo y las coloridas calles de Tlaquepaque. Las luces de la terraza crean un ambiente relajante y romántico, y a tu lado está el chico, y comienzas a admirarlo. Sus ojos tienen un toque de caramelo, pero debido a la oscuridad de la noche, se ven intensamente cafés puya. Su nariz es prominente, al estilo de Adam Driver, y su piel tiene un tono moreno, como café con un toque de leche. Alto y hermoso. Era simplemente perfecto.

Entonces, él te mira y se presenta diciendo: "Che, creo que debería presentarme. Soy Enzo, de Montevideo. Resulta que acabo de laburar en una película, o mejor dicho, soy actor, y..."

Sin embargo, lo interrumpes diciendo sorprendentemente: "¡Oh! Con razón ese acento. Me preguntaba de dónde eras. Anyway, me llamo (tu nombre) y soy de (tu país), pero llevo casi toda una vida viviendo en los Estados Unidos".

"Y... ¿por qué estás aquí?" él dice intrigado.

"Amo viajar, y la verdad es que no soy tan amante de Estados Unidos, así que decidí recorrer América Latina. Pronto me iré a España, ya que tengo amistades en Madrid. Quizás me quede allí y trabaje como maestra de inglés," respondes.

Enzo te mira con interés y te dice: "Me encanta que hagas eso— viajar y conocer el mundo. De verdad que sos muy afortunada. Ojalá te vea en Madrid, ya que laburo bastante por allá."

"Gracias, y tú, eres muy afortunado. Yo pienso que la actuación es un trabajo de talento y valentía," le decís orgullosamente, dejando un toque de coqueteo en tus palabras.

Mientras Enzo y tú están inmersos en una conversación sobre logros y conociéndose, entran los amigos de Enzo, visiblemente tomados. Un chico guapo y argentino le dice a Enzo: "Che, yo pensé que te habías desaparecido con la boluda," mientras otro chico le pregunta a Enzo: "Pero, ¿quién es esta chica, Enzo? Preséntela." Tú te ríes ante sus comentarios disparatados.

Enzo te mira medio avergonzado y suelta: "(Tu nombre), estos son mis amigos del alma y compatriotas, Matías, Agustín y Simón. Son más locos que una cabra en patines, pero los banco a muerte".

"Un placer," decís tímidamente, mientras Matías suelta con su típico humor: "Che, vos sos muy guapa, Enzo, me la cogiste, pero como amigo te la doy." Agustín te dice: "(Tu nombre), te dejamos a vos y a Enzo tranquilo, nosotros nos vamos para una discoteca. Enzo, me mandás un mensaje para saber que vos estás vivo. Tú miras a Enzo riéndote, y él, medio avergonzado, te dice: "Los quiero, pero a veces se pasan." Tú te ríes aún más y le dices que no te preocupes. Después, Enzo te dice: "Vos tenés una sonrisa hermosa," y luego, como disculpándose, agrega: "Es que es verdad."

Después de la risueña conversación, Enzo te mira y sugiere: "¿Qué te parece si caminamos un poco por la calle? Seguro encontramos algo interesante." Asientes con entusiasmo, y juntos se aventuran por las coloridas calles de Tlaquepaque.

Enzo y tú se encuentran con unos mariachis que entonan “Y…” de Javier Solís. Sin dudarlo, Enzo te toma de la mano y te invita a bailar cómicamente en plena calle, siguiendo el ritmo apasionado de la música mexicana. Ríen y se divierten, creando un momento inolvidable mientras los mariachis continúan su serenata. La noche se llena de risas, música y la magia de ese encuentro espontáneo en las coloridas calles de Tlaquepaque.

Mientras caminan, se cruzan con una parada animada de tacos. Enzo sonríe y te propone: "(Tu nombre), ¿qué te parece si paramos acá y nos mandamos unos tacos? Y, obvio, los acompañamos con una Coronita." La idea te parece re buena, y los dos se acomodan en la parada, compartiendo risas y sabores locales.

Son las dos de la mañana y de repente llegan los tres amigos de Enzo, caminando en zigzag debido a la borrachera, y le gritan a los dos: "¡Enzoooo, boludo! ¿Nos vamos?" Enzo te mira y tú le dices: "No te preocupes, ya tienes mi número." Él te dice: "Me escribís cuando llegues a casa, y nos vemos mañana por un café, ¿vale?" Tú le respondes: "Claro, ¿cómo no?" y le das un beso, a lo cual Enzo responde profundamente. Mientras tanto, los chicos están gritando: "¡Enzoooo, ya cásate, cabrón!" La noche termina con risas, besos y la promesa de un encuentro al día siguiente.

WARRIOR NUN: WAS AVATRICE ALWAYS CANON?

In EXCLUSIVE - Fuera de Foco spoke with its creator, Simon Barry, who told us more about the Warrior Nun mythology, stuntwork, and of course, the relationship between Ava and Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young) and the potential return for a third season.

Avatrice was always canon

By the end of the first season, the potential relationship between Beatrice and Ava was one of the most popular topics on the show. In such a way that the known ship Avatrice was one of the most anticipated things by the fans of the series.

In the second season, Warrior Nun places a greater emphasis on the story between the two, which several viewers assumed was due to the strength that the ship had had on social networks after the first season. However, Simon Barry told us that Avatrice had actually always been part of the plan.

“Avatrice was always a point, a slow romance in the Warrior Nun story.” assured the showrunner , who points out that the second season of the series was written before the first even premiered on the platform.

“We understood how good it was: Ava and Beatrice on the show, and Alba and Kristina were very good, they had great chemistry. So the writers and I started writing from what we knew, something that the audience didn't necessarily know yet. So it was interesting that afterward the public was on the same page as us, because the series came out and they went crazy for it, for them.” - Simon Barry, Out of Focus

However, Barry commented that while the relationship between Ava and Beatrice is interesting on its own, it also has a reason for being for the story as a whole.

“It's not just about them having a relationship. It's mixed with the whole theme of the second season, which is about sacrifice and feeling that something or someone belongs to you." Recounted the showrunner, who added that "This relationship was the best way to portray the challenges that Ava was facing, as she took responsibility for her as a hero."

On the other hand, he comments that as for Beatrice, the story with Ava had to build her as a character, because "she also had to allow herself to be who she needs to be, risking losing Ava, which is hard."

Would the ending have been different?

Simon Barry revealed that despite the season's satisfying audiences, the team had written a scene between Ava and Beatrice that never saw the light of day. Well, according to the creator, although he responded to much of what the fans were asking for, he would have lessened the emotion of the final scene between the characters.

“I wrote a scene where Ava and Bea were in bed together. Not like something romantic, but them trying to get on the same terms to understand each other, and it was awkward because they weren't a couple yet." Barry detailed, assuring that it was also one of the funniest scenes to write.

"We removed it because we didn't need it, we did more by avoiding being so explicit with the tension, and that made the ending have a bigger emotional impact." - Simon Barry, Out of Focus

From emotion to action

Perhaps one of the things that stands out the most about the season is the impeccable work done by its actors and doubles in the action scenes and battle choreography ; especially considering that both Alba Baptista , as Kristina Tonteri Young, William Miller and Lorena Andreaperformed several of their risk scenes, seeking to be "really present in the battles".

“Many of the actors we have in the series do their stunts, at a very high level,” said Barry, who stresses the importance of the work done between the actors, stuntmen, and stunt and fight coordinators , Coco Usín and Lee Huang.

"We built a training place in Madrid, where all the scenes were broken down by the coordinators and then filmed,"said the showrunner, who also shared that actors and doubles trained together so that " when they see them on camera they know the movements and we could choose who did what.”

“Some of the actors told us that those scenes were enjoyable to do, they liked the physicality of them. […] Alba in particular was very interested in doing more action scenes on her own and learning from her. She has a great understanding of her own physical strength and she is very good at it. Need a tier list of Munks (I know there's one for Mistos)

So I was just thinking about a Tier List ranking for Mistos that I've seen out there, and now I'm wondering if someone did one for the various Munks (and they better have Gruber's Munk in S-tier at least). By the way, I was looking at the list of Munk actors on the Cats wiki, and I did NOT know that Geoffrey Garratt had played Munkustrap as well (back in 1992, apparently. Well now I need to see what HIS Munk was like now. Hand over the bootleg, please.

What other Munks would you put in a tier list and where would you rank them? Other Munks I can think of:

S Tier (absolute creme de la creme, my fave takes on the "Courageous, Imposing, Energetic" words): Michael Gruber (as hinted before), Steve Barton, Jack Rebaldi (I think you spell it like that? He's Madrid 2004 Munk), Alexander Auler

A Tier (not my absolute faves, but still got the character in a way I still love): Andy Huntington-Jones (2016 Revival), Robbie Fairchild (yes I'm including 2019 Munk, aka the man who launched a thousand Munkoff fics.), Paul Hadobas (Zurich 1991/2)

B Tier (I like them well enough, but don't capture Munk the way I prefer, for example maybe imposing but not very energetic, and so on): Darryl Robinson (1989 Vienna), Matthew Pike (the cover Munk in the Hamburg 1999 bootleg) (He's just too...mellow, for me. I need some energy here!)

I honestly can't think of any Munk that I'd rank below B tier (all Munks are good Munks to me, from what I've seen so far, I guess). What are others' thoughts?

Most of my characters (that had already appeared in my story) didn't have any references when I made them, and believe me, I made them with all of my heart, and imagination, and with love.

I have characters that were mentioned by name before, or still just listed in my drafts, and now that they needed to appear, and with no brainpower left to think what they look like, I thought of actors and actresses, and beauty queens and models, and used their likeness as references!

Do keep in mind that they won't be exact copies of the person I referenced to. There are times I can't get their lips, or noses, or cheeks right so I had to tweak it more, or less, or something else (😭😭😭😭)

EL DIBUJANTE DEL CINE: JOSÉ RAMÓN SÁNCHEZ

Hoy vamos a recordar a un personaje realmente muy curioso y que a través del dibujo y la pintura se acercó al cine. Un artista que dijo de sí mismo: “He sido caricaturista e ilustrador, historietista y pintor, maquetista y escultor, he hecho un poco de todo y lo interesante si tengo que destacar algo en mi trayectoria es que he hecho muchas cosas distintas”. Hoy conocemos y recordamos a JOSÉ RAMÓN SÁNCHEZ (Santander, 1936)

José Ramón Sánchez se inicia muy joven en el dibujo y especialmente en el dibujo publicitario en los famosísimos Estudios Moro de Madrid en 1957. Unos años después comienza a trabajar en el cartel publicitario. Pero cuando Sánchez se da a conocer fue tras la muerte de Franco con los dibujos de los carteles electorales del PSOE en las elecciones de 1977 y 1979. Suya fue también la ilustración de la Constitución de 1978 para los escolares.

Su acercamiento al cine tiene efecto en 1979 cuando realiza la película de dibujos animados El desván de la fantasía junto a Cruz Delgado. Su figura se hace todavía más amplia y famosa para los niños españoles cuando en TVE aparece en los primeros años 80 en los programas Un globo, dos globos, tres globos, junto a Gloria Fuertes, en Sabadabadá junto a Mayra Gómez-Kemp o en Dabadabadá.

En esos años es cuando comienza a plasmar en pintura su gran afición al cine realizando desde entonces y hasta la actualidad varias colecciones:

-La gran aventura del cine:  realizada en 1980, compuesto por 120 cuadros y 20 retratos de actores y actrices. Un gran repaso al cine norteamericano de todos los tiempos. Un magnífico libro hoy bastante cotizado en librerías de lance y que me enorgullezco en tener. Aparecen películas como Moby Dyck, La vuelta al mundo en 80 días, El conde de Montecristo, Pinocho, King-Kong, Supermán, La guerra de las Galaxias, El último Mohicano, Rio Rojo.                                                                                                                                                               -50 años de cine español: 29 cuadros de 29 películas españolas seleccionadas por el pintor.                                                                                                                                 -La vuelta al cine en sesión continua.                                                                                                          -Me enamoré de una máscara: dedicada a Lon Chaney.                                                                               -Amores del cine.                                                                                                                                                  -Transiciones: 30 retratos de estrellas del cine; 24 de personajes y 6 de parejas. Aparecen retratos de Chaplin, Clark Gable, Brando, Orson Welles, Buster Keaton, Greta Garbo, y, asimismo, por parejas de película: Spencer Tracy - Katharine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart - Ingrid Bergman, Ava Gardner - Burt Lancaster, Liz Taylor - Montgomery Clift y el propio Bogart con Lauren Bacall.

Este acercamiento de un cartelista publicitario al mundo del cine lo define él mismo como: “El cine es mi sueño desde niño y no he tenido los condicionamientos, grandes o pequeños, que te puede dar el cartelismo industrial”. José Ramón Sánchez ha sido pintando hasta la actualidad y presentando exposiciones por toda España.

A su hijo Daniel le preguntaron en una ocasión “¿Y tú por qué no pintas?” A lo que respondió “Para mí hablar de pintura es hablar de mi padre. Pero hablar de mi padre, es hablar de cine. Gracias por enseñarme lo que es el arte. Gracias, papá, por enseñarme a mirar”. Y es que, con los antecedentes del padre, su hijo no podía ser otro que Daniel Sánchez Arévalo (AzulOscuroCasinegro, Gordos, Primos, La gran familia española).

Dejo para el final una crítica anónima desde Zaragoza de su película El desván de la fantasía, que evoca el tiempo de José Ramón Sánchez en aquellos ya lejanos años 80:

“Buenos, buenos recuerdos, me trae este desván. El papá de Daniel Sánchez Arévalo ahora es mucho menos conocido que el hijo. Realmente ahora nadie conoce a José Ramón Sánchez. José Ramón Sánchez dibujó el cine de los que queríamos iniciarnos en el cine allá por los años 80. Dibujaba a los hermanos Marx o el incendio de Lo que el viento se llevó. Eso lo hacía en un programa de televisión. Antes había firmado esta simpatiquísima película acerca de los misterios que para un niño suponía subir al desván, pero no un desván cualquiera, sino al de la fantasía. Y eso, si eres niño, es mucho. Las imágenes, los dibujos, mejor dicho, de José Ramón, y si le llamo así parece que le llamo como al poeta, se han convertido, se convertían al verlos semana tras semana, en iconos de la televisión, la española, que era la única que había, y la mejor, no porque no hubiera otra sino porque de verdad era lo que tenía que ser: una magnífica cadena. Los nietos, el abuelo, la canción, por Dios, que no se me olvida y ni se me olvidará. ¿Ñoño, a estas alturas, recordar estas cosas? No, como en el tenis dirían. El desván de la fantasía era un divertimento semanal, que se esperaba con emoción. Pero eso fue después de la película, que básicamente juega con los mismos elementos y personajes. Condensados en 75 minutos se le perdonan falta de ligazón entre las historias, prima el contenido, cosa a la que José Ramón Sánchez ofrecía mucha importancia. Como en una viñeta. Razón por la cual, y por tantas otras, hay que darle las gracias a su creador y factotum. Muchas gracias, José Ramón”.

Mi Primer Día Sin Ti | Enzo Vogrincic

Estás borracha por las calles de Madrid y no puedes dejar de pensar en Enzo.

Este es mi primer día sin verte. Camino por las calles de Madrid, borracha, son las 21:00 de la noche. Desde Malasaña hasta Niño Jesús, mis pies ya no pueden más. Lo único en lo que puedo pensar es en caminar contigo, tú sosteniéndome del brazo y guiándome. Pero estás de viaje. "¡Pff... te odio!" Te fuiste, dejándome atrás, y ahora estás en Uruguay o tal vez en Los Ángeles. Ni siquiera sé dónde estás exactamente. Sin embargo, aquí estoy yo, caminando sola, bajo estas luces amarillentas de Madrid, esperándote descaradamente. ¿Y tú? Tú estás en Júpiter. Me dejaste, o tal vez fui yo quien te dejó. ¡Ay, Enzo! Cómo te echo de menos. Mis pies duelen mientras paso por el Retiro. ¿Recuerdas al gatito negro? Está por aquí. Acabo de ver su cola cerca de la verja del Retiro.

El gato se ha ido, al igual que tú. Exactamente igual. Aquí estoy, borracha, tratando de descubrir dónde se ha escondido. Tanto el gato como tú.

Ahora estoy frente a la barra donde solíamos pasar tiempo juntos. Recuerdo lo mucho que te gustaba ese vino puro de Italia; no puedo recordar el nombre específico, pero era tu favorito. Estoy tan borracha que apenas puedo recordar algo.

Decido ponerme mis audífonos y escuchar nuestra banda favorita... ¿cuál era? Ah, sí, Radiohead, ¿verdad? O ¿tal vez era alguna banda revolucionaria de Uruguay? No puedo recordar. Optaré por un poco de Charly García, ese álbum "Bancate Ese Defecto", ese mismo.

Enzo, ¿estás enamorado? ¿De alguien más, supongo? Porque te fuiste sin decir adiós. Solo dijiste: "No puedo seguir contigo". Y así, puff, te fuiste, como aquel gato negro.

Ya casi llego a mi departamento. ¡Ay, Enzo! ¡Cómo te extraño! Estoy un poco loca, o mejor dicho, borracha. Ya estoy ansiosa por llegar a casa, servirme una copa de vino blanco y escuchar alguna canción extraña de Uruguay o algo que me haga llorar, como alguna de Silvio Rodríguez. Ojalá.

Recuerdo cuando nos emborrachábamos de vino y poníamos "Cementerio Club" de Pescado Rabioso. Tú fingías odiarlo, pero sabía que en el fondo amabas mi alma rockera. Ay, esos fueron tiempos maravillosos. Antes de que fueras famoso... Pero debo decirte que estoy muy orgullosa de ti. Has logrado ser quien siempre quisiste ser: un actor estrella, reconocido por Hollywood. De verdad, estoy feliz por ti y te admiro mucho por eso.

Estoy ansiosa por llegar a casa, mis pies ya no pueden más. Ay, ya veo la farola cerca de casa, esa luz amarillenta me hace desear ir a buscarte y besarte, pero sé que no estás aquí.

Enzo, veo una sombra bajo la farola cuando me acerco a casa, pero tengo que entrar. El portero está dormido. No sé qué hacer. Decido pasar de largo e ignorar al tipo que está fumando cerca. Sin embargo, no puedo evitar notar ciertos rasgos familiares en él. La forma en que sostiene el cigarrillo... Ay, es igual a ti. Y su altura, sus jeans doblados al final... todo me recuerda a ti.

Ignoro al tipo y saco mi llave, pero al intentar abrir la puerta, ¡se atasca! ¡Ay! No sé qué hacer. El portero debe de estar en el séptimo cielo, no me atrevo a tocar el intercomunicador. Enzo, ese tipo me está mirando. ¡Ay, no! Se está acercando. ¡Voy a gritar!

“Dejáme, yo te ayudo", dice. Ay, Enzo, tiene la misma voz que tú. Parece ser uruguayo. Pero no puedo verlo claramente. Todo está borroso, estoy borracha.

Finalmente, cuando el desconocido se acerca para ayudarme, reconozco su voz. Es Enzo. Mis lágrimas comienzan a fluir mientras lo miro con incredulidad. "Pensé que eras Enzo", murmuro entre sollozos, "lo siento tanto".

Enzo me mira con ternura y me asegura: "Soy realmente yo". Me acompaña hasta la puerta, y cuando finalmente lo veo claramente, la realidad golpea con fuerza. Es él, mi Enzo. No puedo contener las lágrimas mientras le explico lo mucho que lo extrañé, lo confundida que estaba y lo siento por haberlo malinterpretado.

Él me abraza con fuerza y me susurra palabras de consuelo. "Estoy aquí, cariño. Todo está bien", me dice mientras me acaricia el cabello. En ese momento, sé que todo estará bien.
