Here's a commission piece I did for the awesome author Hans_On for her super cool fic "Influence"! It's an actor!Dean/movie producer!Castiel fic, which, as someone who studied and works with film, is freaking fantastic! It's a work in progress, so there will be more chapters (and a few more chibi scenes) to come! Go give the story a read!

The reason wincest WORKS and is valid and the people who like it are not insane/incestuous (even though some losers *read hellers* may disagree) is solely because of jared and jensen and THEIR dynamic and the energy they put into THEIR characters.

Also read: these characters who are brothers are FICTIONAL. They are not Real People.

Anyone who has siblings can attest to the fact that regular run-of-the-mill normal siblings do not act like Sam/Dean in any way. Not even close. Canon salmondean relationship weirdness/gencest/weirdcest crawled so that fanon wincest could walk. Why is this hard to wrap your head around. People who enjoy/ship wincest are not gross incestuous fucks. They are people who read into the subtext (and sometimes even the in-your-face text) on a Gothic horror show about Super Weird brothers cruising through the American country to kill things that go bump in the night.

Because really, do you and your brother/sister run around doing absolutely everything together? Do you self insert yourself into your sibling's life because you want to have the absolute final say about their actions and decisions?? Forsake multiple romantic relationships in favour of being with each other??? Coop up, isolate yourselves and play house with each other and compare yourselves to married couples/people in relationships???? because if you do, YOU ARE WEIRD much like sam and dean.

Real non-incestuous siblings are usually Normal About Each Other. Get that through your thick skull.

Calling wincesties incestuous is YOUR weirdass incest projections. The call is coming from inside the house.

Never Not Fantastic

When television star Dean Winchester makes a stop at the Rogue Wave Cafe, owner Castiel Novak initially takes notice - and exception to - the celebrity's presence in the all-but-forgotten beachside town where the age of the average resident is sixty-five. This is a story about love and love, about family, friends, and more than friends, about learning when to hold on and when to let go, and about maybe, finding some turtles along the way.

Fics that are written as love letters to certain places will always have a special place in my heart, and this fic is no different. The author takes such care in describing the small beach town where Castiel lives and works that you'll honestly feel like you're there as well (and you might even end up a little angry that you can't actually get a cup of coffee at the Rogue Wave Cafe). It's so clear throughout the story that Cas fits in perfectly in this town, and it's also made equally clear that Dean fits into this community just as easily.

Unfortunately, the road to happiness for Dean and Cas is bumpy--Dean is a mid-level actor, made famous for his starring role on a TV series, The Unnatural (sound familiar?). When he meets Cas, there's an instant attraction, but fear of ruining his career by coming out forces Dean to keep his relationship with Cas a secret--which causes friction with Cas, who's determined not to compromise any of his values. Both Dean and Cas make mistakes and hurt each other, but the love between them is always enough to make sure that they come back to each other.

There's a fantastic supporting cast in this story, including Sam and Gabriel as the respective cheerleader brothers. What really makes this story fun to me is the sweet mood that it maintains throughout--even at its angstiest moments, you never really doubt that Dean and Cas are going to find their way back to each other--their connection is just THAT profound.

I'm re-watching Supernatural. Three episodes in and here's what I noticed:

Dean's portrayed as this playboy (mostly by Sam) and yet, in the two cases involving a woman, they both sent him off with a kiss after the case, NOT because he has good pickup lines (one of them actually called him out on his shitty line) or he's hot or whatever, but because he's actually a good, kind man. He saved one woman's brother and another's son (and also, how good is he with kids? Sam acts all shocked as if Dean didn't single-handedly raise him. 🤦🏻‍♀️)

So anyway, I'm re-watching Supernatural and falling in love with Dean Winchester all over again.
