Beyond the parking lot lay the the permanently docked ship-turned-hotel, The Queen Mary. Its massive figure was a hulking monument to the rich history of the southern California locale. Despite the midday sun that shone unhindered in a bright blue sky, he couldn't help but feel a shiver of dread as he looked at the circular windows that lined the side. Like the open eyes of a corpse. Lifeless but filled with the memory of what once was.

Drawing in a breath, Josh turned his attention back to his blonde companion, hitting his knees with a finality that ended the road trip. "You still sure you wanna do this?" he asked, blue eyes glittering with mischievousness. "The Days Inn down the road didn't look so bad." He knew that the supernatural terrified Sam, but he also knew that she wanted to face her fear. He had made a silent promise to himself to be there for every step and help her in what ever way she needed.

₊˚｡⋆❆⋆｡˚₊ The car ride had been long, which they'd known going in and planned appropriately for, but no amount of playlists or audiobooks or weird podcasts could entirely cover up the anxiety that came with such a huge move. Some things had changed in their lives, Sam had inherited a house and patch of land from her grandfather and it was possibly the kind of fix they needed, or possibly a dead end and they were in over their heads. Only time would tell, and that did not include the hours in the car, even if they made great time.

ㅤPulling up to the house, Mike gave a whistle at the state of it and the land before them, overgrown and clearly untended for years, but smiled at Sam in an attempt to be reassuring as an older man waved them over. They got the introduction from Lewis and a redhead named Robin, who was apparently the local carpenter (which Mike believed, since she got her plug in about hiring her to update the house), and then found themselves alone at their new home. It could have definitely been worse; it was live-able and honestly kind of beautiful beyond the overgrown farmland into the forested area, but the house was going to need work before winter. He was preparing himself immediately for that task list.

ㅤ"Well, it's just us now, so tell me what you're thinking," he told Sam, who had been all smiles for Lewis and Robin and fairly quiet in unloading their things from the overloaded back of the SUV and trailer, but now had the same predicament as Mike. They had to decide where to start. He'd decided that he didn't care as long as they had the bed set up and food, which Lewis had kindly pointed him to town and the Stardrop Saloon to pick up something easy that night. Breakfast and lunch had survived as some groceries for the road in a cooler, and so they were set for the next few. "House needs work, but it seems solid. We'll figure it out."

A little late night encouragement for you to stumble upon! I can't believe we are 3 weeks into December. The final pages of 2024 are turning quickly and soon, a new book will be starting. However, as much magic as there is in the holiday time- It's hard. One of the hardest. Find joy where you can and, please, don't beat yourself if you can't. Remember to give yourself some grace and a break for the next couple weeks! You're going to make it to this next year and there will be so many happy memories to be made. man oh man, what a year, right? but we all made it, and for that? i'm grateful. i'm grateful to be here with you all, even though it's kinda wild out there right now, no? but we're here. that's something. i have this motto that everything in life is impermanent, even one another. we have to enjoy our time together while we have it. here today, gone tomorrow, right? it'll all just be a memory. i think there's some comfort in that, maybe some bitterness, but definitely more sweet.

She's a little tired, but at least this time she has a sense that it might be wiser for her to take pause. She has a feeling her parents might not be too happy with her if they figure she's goofing on instead of realizing her interest in the occult was ACADEMIC as well.

"i'm just saying that you could and should be turning some heads while we're out. i'm usually playing shows this time of the year. we need to go big or go home and i refuse to go home, so it's just go big as an option." which apparently meant, according to thorn mcknight, going a little slutty.

Gray clouds overhead blocked out much of the sun and the sea breeze chilled everything to the balmy low sixties. Not the coldest, but still not the thought that 'SoCal Summer' usually conjured up. In Josh's opinion it was perfect. Especially for the topic he and Sam had gotten themselves on. As they walked along the rocky shore towards the tide pools, Josh found solace in the peace that Sam always seemed to emanate.

He turned blue eyes on her, thinking on her words with care. It wasn't like Sam to be so vulnerable, but it meant more than he'd admit that she felt comfortable enough to confide in him. There was a time when they spoke this easily often, but that felt so long ago now. "I get it. Sometimes, I feel like this world isn't even real. Like... I'm out of place in it no matter where I am." Only then was he struck with familiar lyrics and decided to give in, hoping to see her smile. When he spoke, though, his voice was even, not giving away the melody at all, just to see if she'd notice. "But I hope you, I'd stop the world and melt with you."

unprompted positivity!

my favorite thing of this year was hanging out and meeting @alwaysanangcl in person. definitely the highlight. got to travel to places i haven't been and experience it with one of my closest friends. as for something i'm proud of? where i've gotten with my career at at work. when i started this year i was a baby tech. just learning how to draw blood and place catheters and now i'm pretty good at it. as for accomplishments....i've done a lot of things out of my comfort zone this year and only looking forward to pushing that more.

i hope this year is kinder to you than last. hope it's filled with the love and support you not only need but deserve as well.

Hello my sweet friend!! We made it to the finish line of another rollercoaster of a year and whereas last year I was desperately grasping for the new year, this year there's a quiet hopefulness for 2025. There was a lot wrong this year, but also a lot right. A lot new. A lot of growth that I am so incredibly proud of. I'm still learning how to feel things again and I'm grateful for the mess of it all. I hope you know how proud of you I am, and how grateful I am to have you in my world.
