Web of Black Widow is one of the best Nat story of the modern years mostly because of the artist : Stephen Mooney.
Now, I love WoBW writing, tense, nicely referenced and full of action but Mooney's Nat is just superb in many ways.
I think he managed to capture one particular aspect about Nat : her physicality.
Her build, tall and muscular, the way she moves in and out of the panels, the choregraphy of her fight scenes.
Some may say an artist like Phil Noto illustrated the "perfect" Black Widow and... yes, he did.
His Nat is iconic, feel and look dangerous and well rounded.
But Mooney's art is quite underrated in my opinion.
He did draw some other spy stories, like The Dead Hand, and did he nail something every time.
I always take a look back at Web of Black Widow mostly because of how Nat's look in the book.
She really feel like she can kick anyone with grace and power (and she does)

ok ATLA fans real question tho. This has nothing to do with anything live action or whatever, it's just pure cartoon-related stuff.
But did y'all really like the Katara at the North Pole plot? Because I mean I love it, I love Katara fighting as strongly as she does, standing up for herself against all odds and all. And as for choregraphy, it's one of my favorite fights.
But I always loved it, until it all fumbled on itself with the neckless thing. I hate, and yes, HATE the idea of Katara being a "nepobaby" and this is why she gets to learn waterbending - but all the other girls from the North Water Tribe don't get to even try. By nepobaby I mean that it's obviously Katara's parentage that opens this precise door to her and not... well the fact that she proved herself or actually changed mentalities.
In the episode right after, we do see that Katara is the only girl in the class (and at the end of Book 1, Pakku leaves the NWT, meaning he actually doesn't even stay to change his tribe's ways and include girls, like the man didn't change anything after Katara). And paralleling that, you have Yue, whose fate also never changes. She never gets to even voice her non-desire of being put in a forced marriage. Like yeah, her and Sokka oppose that to the idea of her having a duty to her tribe, and it resonates to Sokka's own dedication to his tribe, but... why don't they go further? Ofc time restriction but to me, poor Yue if she were meant to die could've had at least a self-affirming moment (especially when you create in the background another love story that got destroyed by the NWT's sexist ways, namely Pakku and Gran Gran).
It's also weird because then they put Pakku in the White Lotus. The same organization where Piandao is. Piandao who teaches sword fighting to Sokka because "the art of sword fighting shouldn't belong to one people" so huh?? I know everything was probably not planned as far ahead when writing Book 1 but it's still... đ€·ââïž
Idk I've never actively searched if people already had this discussion but I just wanted to ask, revisiting some of Book 1 big storylines. To me, it always seemed like the Katara/Pakku thing was awesome, until the neckless really, then it kinda flops and loses all its sense, because then Katara stop actually fighting Pakku's sexism (and the dude just stops being sexist alltogether we don't even know why *shrugs* even tho he had horrible words and attitudes towards Katara before that) and the NWT's patriarchy, she just complies because she got the privilege to bypass all of it.
#katara#avatar the last airbender#the last airbender#atla meta#idk to me book 1 really is the book where they set up good ideas but they never dare delving into it really deeply#contrary to book 2 and 3#they do have the whole grangran left because of said sexism but again#it ain't changed after that

do you make sfm refs for all your art? :]
Nah ! I picked up the software like uhh 5 days ago and it's been a lot of fun but i never used it before !
I do a lot from imagination but the most elaborate shit is usually inspired by music videos and choregraphies, for nsfw sometimes from live action pornography (i just have a file of screenshots as refs lmao)

Please rant about the new musketeer movie, I need to know how bad it is on a scale from Michael York to Mathew McFaydden, so I know if it's worth trying to hunt down a cinema or wait till it's out on dvd
Well.... The good news is, there's no flying ship in that one. Not sure where to put it though. It's not atrocious, but it's lacking something. I'm always happy to see my boys, and the cast is good. It is rather entertaining at times, and I'm sure people not as attached to the characters as I am might not be as harsh as me but... I guess I was hoping for more? For better? Why is it that there can't be a single decent modern adaptation?!
The rest under the cut because spoilers for The Three Musketeers: d'Artagnan
First, it's visually ugly. It's all in brown and dark tones. Apparently the weather in France is always bad, ranging from pouring rain to clouds and fog. Even the red robe of the cardinal doesn't pop up! And don't get me started on the musketeer's uniforms. Why is it that every single recent movie wants to make them something that they're not. We *know* what they looked like. Blue casaques with a big white cross. Would it look out of fashion today? Of course! Even slightly ridiculous? Maybe. But Mordious, that's a 17th century uniform! Just play along! So, in this one, it becomes a very dark navy blue long coat with a black cross on the arm. It's actually so indisguishable that you can never tell when they're wearing it or not.
But okay, fine, if it was the only issue, I would have waved it off. The rest of the costumes, though probably not historically accurate, look pretty cool over all. If only they had more colors. Can you believe that there's a costumed ball, with one character wearing an arlequin costume and ... it doesn't even look like rainbow-y!
(can you tell I'm slightly mad at the movie's terrible coloring?)
And overall, I felt it wasn't very well filmed. Like, this isn't just a swashbluckler, it's The Swashbuckler story, so gotta work on those sword fights! Give me some fancy fighting! Work a real choregraphy! I understand that this is not the Errol Flynn era anymore but come on. So their idea to make it more "modern" was to use sequence-shots for the fight scenes. That is not a bad idea, but when there's no real choregraphy to follow, that just makes everything messy and pointless. So yeah, disappointed with the action scenes.
My other major source of annoyment was the lack of character development, or just character moments. D'Artagnan flirting with Constance was fine, but it's *not* the main story. It should have been the friendship between our four heroes. Instead of adding a whole new plot, I wish they'd taken the time with the canon scenes. Show me more why they went from being this close to kill each other, to instant friends ready to die for each other. Making Porthos bisexual is fine. I don't mind modernization of characters, but did you have to tell and show me this very clearly 3 times, but then give him virtually no other line of dialogue the rest of the movie? Romain Duris as Aramis is particularly awesome, but the poor guy is just as useless. The film is such a waste of a good casting. D'Artagnan, the main character, barely gets more time. Where is my ever-resourceful, cunning, smart and quick thinking hero? Young and idealistic but also natural leader d'Artagnan? His scenes with Constance are cute enough (and I don't mind that they got rid of Mr. Bonacieux) but I wanted more bonding with the boys! It's called The Three Musketeers, not My Cute Landlady. François Civil does a decent job but he isn't given the most subtle text...
Athos is the only one that is allowed a bit more development, but he's reduced to be a sappy old man. AAARGH ATHOS IS NOT AN OLD MAN. I do like Vincent Cassel, but the movie comes out 20 years too late for him to be a musketeer. Athos is not old, he is just the only vaguely grown-up one of the group. And come on "I don't have enough will to live to lie." ?! What the Hell?
All the characters feel reduced to a single dimension.
And yes, I do realize that you can't fit hundreds of pages in two 2-hour movies, but still, I feel like there were ways to make the movie better if it had been more character-oriented. The only real good character is the King. He has all the best lines and Louis Garrell is perfect.
Finally, while I don't mind when they take liberties from the original story, I'm not sure that the whole side plot actually adds anything. If you're worried about lack of plots, just develop the exisiting ones instead of rushing them in and out of England, maybe? It's Alexandre Dumas you're adapting, don't tell me there aren't enough twists in that plot!
And what annoys me about that side plot is that it starts with Athos being arrested. Which means that, from the start, they're never all four of them together. Which also means that that one supposedly emotional letter from Athos sounds a bit phony. Why would he care for that young idiot that he met only once?
Let my musketeers be all together, Morbleu!
Anyway, to try and end on a more positive note: it does remain entertaining enough that you're not bored. They filmed in real places - Le Louvre looks actually like Le Louvre - which is always a bonus. Louis XIII is awesome, and all the court intrigues are probably the best parts. And they do have a second movie coming out this December to try and make up for that one. We can expect War! Love! Tragedy! Vengeance! (and hopefully more character development?)
Sorry, that was long. All this to say: meh.

âȘïž IPKKND Ep 108 : Evolution
You can see how Arnav isn't screaming at Khushi after caughting her misbehaving, something he would've done without hesitation when they barely knew each other lol.
He already before showed patience when it comes to her "mistakes" or actions. But here, his patience doesn't break easily.
I think it proves the evolution of their relationship at this point. Now he has a certain level of trust in her that help him stay patient :"She might have a reason, even if it's nonsense, let met hear her first, let me try to understand"
He tries his best now to not rush things and avoid the possibility of misunderstanding her again. This time, he'll wait for her explanations. They have reached a stage where they can show how they care for each other, he doesn't want them to go backward.
And Khushi indeed have a reason, a typical Khushi-like reason lol aka some nonsense lol "unbelievable". She also proves him yet again her intentions weren't bad or evil at all.
She drinks that beverage she made in front of him. And it suprises him, she doesn't mind getting sick if she can make sure her "mistake" doesn't alter his trust in her. And therefore, he can't help himself from getting worried for her.
"What the f***!" "Silly girl, you're gonna get sick ! You didn't have to do this."
"I made a mistake, forgive me" "Don't misundertand me please Arnav-ji, I'm sorry"
(remember, the pink sentences are what i'm imagining them saying, or what i think they actually meant)
Both here are making effort to keep their relationship healthy. You can sense it also from the choregraphy of their movements during this scene :
He opened his doors and let her in to ask her explanation. After drinking that thing, she comes back to him and apologize.
"Nowdays, I have no idea, what is happening to me"
I think Arnav after hearing this understood her confusion, that she might feel too much and it's overwhelming her. She's feeling too much for him. He knows very well that confusion lol. He had it too because of her, and to the point of literally breaking down !
That's why, when she's about to leave, his eyes hold a certain feeling of lingering. Maybe he wanted to ask her more details ... He looks disappointing at her leaving after saying such a thing.
"Is she experiencing what also happened to me? Khushi, tell me, tell me more."

how was the three musketeers?? Iâm not sure if itâs gonna show in my local theater anytime soonđ were there English subtitles/dubbing? How was the plot? What was your favorite part? Tell me literally anything and everything about this movie and I will be absolutely thrilled
I'm french so I watched in french without subtitles. I don't know if it's gonna be dubbed though. I personnaly really liked it, and if that holds any power to you, in France it's currently the movie making the most entries in cinema just behind thé Mario movie, and it's public score is still 4/5 stars.
I haven't read the book yet, so I don't know how much the plot takes from it, but it was just simple and complex enough (I don't know how you feel about spoilers so I won't go into too much details), there is also a good sense of impact and threat ; it mostly separate into three parts : Introduction of the characters and motivations ; Trying to clear Athos s name ; Get the queen's necklace before the king knows she gave it. And all of this happens with the looming threat of the religion war in the background. (It's also the first part of a two parter, so obviously it ends on a cliffhanger)
One thing I really liked was the action sequences. I've seen some people say it was Bad, but the general consensus seems to bé that it was incredibly original ; the choregraphy is good, but the main thing is that all of those are filmed in one sequence, and you are at the characters heads height, so the combats unfold in real time, and you feel like you are in it. Some of my favorite parts were obviously when all the three musketeers and d'Artagnan are joking or fighting together, and I can't wait to get more of that in the second movie this winter. All the scenes with the King were incredible, and honestly all the interactions between Constance and D'Artagnan were cute, and felt really genuine. The ambiance surprised me too, it was definitely a cape and sword movie, but it sometimes almost felt like a western, in a good way.
Finally I want to say the dialogue and acting was amazing. All of the cast fitted their role perfectly. Those are my sentiment about this movie , and honestly, I'm not nescecerally a model in terms of taste in movies, but it's probably now one of my favorite movies (my sister went to watch it three times in one week at the cinema)
Can't wait to see the second part and get more of Eva Green's Milady cause we need more of that.
If you want more precise details don't hesitate to ask.

I just finished watching nickelodeons Monster High live action.
it was great! the songs, story, choregraphy, EVERYTHING. (trust has to be favorite song)
This isnât a spoiler but Deuce does have snake hair.
5/5 stars.
WARNING: spoilers, both major and little.
FOUND FAMILY!!! I love it.
I gotta say, I kinda suspected Komos of being the big bad.
Frankie is amazing.
I almost cried when Deuce turned to stone
Clawdeen I like that she (in some way) was like Hyde (the original) being half monster half human. When she finally gets hold of the potion she decides itâs best not to drink it.
Komos getting the potion because he kinda lied to Clawdeen was my favorite scene. And he kinda didnât lie (even tho he definetly did lie). He said he knew a better for her to fit in, and technically killing the monsters was a way to help her fit in... just not the right way.

Next chapters in my fic wil include much more fights so I was looking for some inspiration, not just classic japanese martial art, but all around the world. On the way I've discovered really nice Naruto-inspirated choregraphies! I like the fact that it's not a direct cosplay. They included jutsus and special effect into real life. And it works ! Check RivenX3i's channel this director has a lot of amazing videos!

Donât waste your time watching the new Matrix movie
You can tell the director didnât really wanted to make the film, with all the meta jokes about how Warner is forcing a new sequel.
But even leaving that aside, the shaky cam during the action scenes, the cheap-looking sets and fight choregraphy, the main actors looking bored and the meh story make the whole thing a disappointment.
The first third of the movie presents some interesting concepts and some nice visual but all that disappears as soon as the main plot kicks in.

How did you keep your heart?
Listen I just finished Black Widow and there will be spoilers here. Watching this reminds me of why I was so grumpy that it took so long for us to get Captain Marvel's movie. There is so much material out there for both these characters and more and and Natasha in particular had already been worked into the first couple movies, fans were invested in her as a character. but what did we get instead three movies for three white dudes EACH and yeah they are fun characters but NATASHA ROMANOFF. come on. regardless of your opinion of the movies the characters Carol Danvers and Natasha Romanoff themselves are amazing and badass and we barely scratched the surface with them and one of them is already dead ugghhhdhdhdhdflkjdl
The action sequences were stunning! the choregraphy had me wishing i didn't need to blink. and I enjoyed watching so many women on the screen no matter how brief their role. Someone needs to do a spinoff with each episode following one black widow post-dreykov.
I count it as one of the few marvel accomplishments that they gave us the cutest most bittersweet big sis/lil sis assassins story and I WANT MORE. I want Yelena hopping around the globe de-chemicalizing widows-in-training, setting them free and helping them integrate into society if they so choose. I want to see Melina set her pigs free too, and start working on idk an asthma cure or something or maybe just not doing what she's been forced to do for so long and just. I want Alexei to get on tumblr so he can write the battle of the red guardian versus captain america. and wtf super soldiers are basically a dime a dozen now how did he manage to stay off people's radar lmao. He probably watched the news about the flag smashers and morgenthau and started spinning something about how he helped captain america and the winter soldier bring down the flag smashers.
yelena. she needs to come back. she's such a sarcastic little shit making fun of natasha's superhero pose and being so proud of her pocket-ful vest.
I wonder if yelena or melina or alexei were dusted. I wonder if nat got to connect with any of them before she left for vormir.

âȘïž IPKKND Ep 6 recap : Khushi moves to Dehli
Fate or not, Arnav's actions led Khushi to move into her aunt's house in Delhi, the same city where Arnav lives.
I really appreciate how the writers implied how toxic some male gazes are to women and how it also affected Khushi's views on men.
Khushi seems to get many awe stares since she's very beautiful (trashes will harass women just because they are existing but i'm sure you know what i meant here) , they even misunderstood her as a model in the first ep. But she never uses her look to get avantages or "privileges", she's not even aware of how pretty she is.
" Friendship with your work and rivalry with yourself" Anjali describes her brother with so much precision and truth !
Behind that arrogance and prideful appearance, Arnav doesn't love himself, and he doesn't believe he's worth of being loved, truly loved for who he really is (therefore, doesn't know how to care for himself in a healthy way).
" -You'll be happy to know that the video clip of that girl, which you sent to news channel, made her face so much embarrassment that she had to leave the city ! -Don't waste my time talking nonsense. I don't even care if she has to leave the country!" When Arnav says he doesn't care, it means he cares ⊠at least when it comes to Khushi.
You can sense Arnav is annoyed (barun's micro expressions even behind his sunnies are letting us know, yeap his acting is that good!), but I think he's actually feeling bad and regreteful for what he did.
If you paid attention to this scene properly, you would've seen how Arnav was about to get very angry because of the accident Khushi caused. But suddenly he recognized her. And his anger was gone immediately. He was shocked meeting her once again. "wait, is it really fate? what's going on?"
You could feel the adrenaline rush emaning from them but especially from him, it's not only because of the suprise of meeting her there again. This is exactly what he felt the second time they met.
There is a well-known saying that goes like this:
the first time is accidental, the second is inevitable, and the third is fate.
And I feel like this is exactly what both thought about while recognizing each other during this scene.
____________________________________________________________
> Let me do my choreography analysis again lol : Khushi crosses the road with Arnav but he stopped his car while her motocycle moves past him.
See, its the same choregraphy when she confronted him during their last scene (ep3). She runs to catch him, but she's too fast. To me, it's the representation of the future dynamic of their relationship, Khushi being ready for more with him, to maybe be lovers (in the future eps) while he won't be.
And I think the director really thought about the whole parallel in details to leave us clues !
Then, Khushi bumbs into Arnav because she used the road she wasn't allowed to! It's a very meaningful detail, I think it's the illustration of her entering his heart by daring to challenge him as an equal, something no one else did before !!!
He's shocked seeing here for the third time and in Delhi! But you can sense a bit of anger too: "Is this fate or is she following me with some intentions, probably to seduce me for my money?"
Khushi is shocked too but also angry seing the man who damaged her reputation again, "Why is fate making me meet this man with no morals again?"

For the Love of Animations
I was in 10th grade when Disneyâs frozen came out. And I loved it. So like the good friend that I am, I recommended it to one of my friends. To my dismay the next day she got came to school kinda mad at me for asking her to watch it. Upon asking if it was the movie that she did not enjoy or something else she replied, âMy brother made fun of me for the entire day for watching a kids movie. I did not get past the first 20 minutesâ. Somehow I got offended at the thought of people taking it as a movie only suitable for kids. Why canât I, a 16 year old back then, not enjoy a good movie only because of the fact that itâs animated? That day I realised my love for this medium.
A separate category for animations films was introduced in the academy awards only 20 years ago. Animation has started gaining the recognition it deserves. Or so we thought. Many members of the academy believe animation movies to be for kids and see it as beneath them. In 2014 âThe Hollywood Reporterâ interviewed the members for their opinions on the animated movies and many of them replied that they had not even seen the movies that were nominated.
Here are the Top 6 reasons (among many others) that we should we watching animation.
Visual Pleasure
Animations are BEAUTIFUL. The reds look redder, the water looks bluer, the sun shines brighter and mundane things have never looked prettier. The colours, the details and the liveliness of the animations are hard to be captured in live actions. There is something realistic yet quite unsettling about animations that gets the heart racing.
There is a reason why what we see on the screen is so beautiful. An animator at Pixar on an average is only able to produce 3 seconds of work. And this the speed in the times that we have access to computers. During the hand drawn era, 24 images had to be created to get 1 second of movement. Many Japanese animations are till date drawn by hands. And letâs not forget that everything needs to be created by the hands and moved for claymations. Itâs lots of efforts and teamwork.
2. It goes beyond possibilities
Literally nothing is impossible for animation. Any character, and place, however you want it to look; all can be created from nothing. Animation has no restrains with respect to the budget for set or the way you want a certain scene to look. Expressions and scenes can also be exaggerated for emotional stimulation or for comedic purposes. Think about it, such exaggerated scenes would not have the same effect if the scene exists in live action. For the first time perhaps choregraphies could be made perfect. Even lighting can be played. Lighting styles which do not exist or are hard to achieve can now be made to use easily. You can mould it anyway you want. The world is your oyster.
3. For intellectual and emotional development
Stories created through animations always have a moral value attached to it. It not only helps a child to distinguish between right and wrong but also reconfirm the values for adults. A lot of animations are specifically made for the adults. The darkness of BoJack Horseman or the twisted characters of Death Note are definitely not for kids. Even shows like Gravity Falls which are essentially aired on the kids channel have engaging plots and hidden social themes and valuable messages. Shows like We Bare Bear which is for kiddies has more cultural representation that the oscars. We earn knowledge and values from good animations. They are mature and instigate both are intellect and emotions .
5. It was since the start meant for adults
We need to understand is that it is an art form that can be enjoyed by everyone and everywhere. Â In fact during WWII, cartoons were used as a medium to sway the people. Â During those times, it were primarily adults who were watching these animations. Watching these shows were a formal and important event. That the amount of power this medium of communication holds. Â A lot of animations are also specifically made for adults. Anyone can enjoy any form of animations and cartoons they like, irrespective of their age.
6. Watch it Just For Fun
