In acoustic ceilings design, there exists a huge variety of designs which are made from tiles and are not only meant for the walls. Acoustic ceilings have increased rapidly in businesses, offices, schools etc. because of their functionalities. These ceilings lower the height of modern rooms and eliminate the noise developed inside the space.

Some acoustic treatment tricks that make your room sound excellent
New rooms can be tricky. They are an uncharted territory, and hazards hang around in every corner.
Literally, the corners will be your worst enemy.
Tumblr media
Anyone setting up a home recording studio is going to run into some issues, but understanding what you are dealing with makes the process so much seamless.
If you are dealing with a room with a bad sound issue, you can try acoustic treatment panels that make your home studio sound better directly.
Ideally your blending position should be positioned at 1/3 of the room length. You can go a bit crazy and bring a tape measure like the way I did by hiring a soundproofing company near me, or you can just ascertain it.
1. Beware of the corners
Like I said, corners are your enemies. Put as many bas traps as possible in the corners. Putting the bass-traps in the corners is like setting up a Ghostbuster trap that sucks up your low-end. You know that is where the bass will be, so ensure you suck it out of your room like the way I did by hiring soundproofing contractors near me.
2. Windows suck
Glass gives an irritating bright slap that can truly screw with a mix. Currently, I have a window at the corner of my gym ceiling. I am in the process of creating broadband absorbers that go behind my monitors to even this out.
If you have a window behind or in front of you, think about closing it with some acoustic treatment panels.

Tumblr media
❀ summary: With platinum albums and millions of adoring fans, Yeon-jin thought she knew exactly where her music career was headed. One that could either launch her to new heights of stardom or leave her heart in free fall.
The question is: in an industry where every move is scrutinized and romance is taboo, can two of K-pop's brightest stars risk it all for a love that wasn't part of the production plan?

Chapter 1: The Announcement
Yeon-jin's fingers hovered over the piano keys in her private studio, the golden afternoon light streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Seoul's skyline. The view of Namsan Tower in the distance usually inspired her, but today the familiar sight only reminded her of the mounting pressure. Three empty coffee cups littered the space around her, evidence of another marathon songwriting session. Her upcoming album needed to be perfect—her first full R&B project had to show her evolution as an artist.
At twenty-seven, she knew the cruel mathematics of the industry. Female soloists had to constantly reinvent themselves to stay relevant, especially ones who'd debuted as young as she had. Fifteen years in the industry had taught her that talent alone wasn't enough; you needed to stay ahead of the curve.
She played a melody line again, something sultry and smooth that had been haunting her for days but couldn't quite capture the emotion she was reaching for. The notes echoed through the carefully acoustic-treated room, bouncing off the dark wood panels she'd had installed when she bought the building three years ago. This studio was her sanctuary, the one place she could truly be herself away from the cameras and expectations.
The door burst open, making her jump. Na Ra, her manager of six years, practically bounced into the room, her usually perfectly styled bob slightly disheveled from what appeared to be a rushed journey. Yeon-jin hadn't seen her this excited since they'd won their first Daesang.
"You're never going to believe this," Na Ra said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She was clutching her phone like it might try to escape. "I just got off the phone with BigHit."
Yeon-jin's heart skipped a beat. Everyone in the industry knew BigHit. The company had revolutionized K-pop, breaking down international barriers that artists like her had only dreamed of when they started. "What's going on?"
"Jungkook. He heard your cover of 'Stay With Me' on that radio show last month. He wants to collaborate. Not just one song—he's talking about a full R&B album."
The world seemed to tilt on its axis. Yeon-jin gripped the piano bench to steady herself. "Jungkook? THE Jungkook?"
"Unless you know another global superstar by that name," Na Ra teased, but her expression softened seeing Yeon-jin's overwhelmed look. She sat down beside her on the piano bench, their shoulders touching in a familiar gesture of comfort. "This could be exactly what we've been looking for. Your vocal color would blend perfectly with his, and you know his solo work has been leaning more toward R&B lately."
Yeon-jin's mind raced with possibilities. She'd always admired BTS from afar, watching as they achieved the kind of global success most Korean artists only dreamed about. And Jungkook... his talent was undeniable. His recent solo projects showcased a maturity and depth that had caught the attention of critics worldwide.
"Did they say why?" she asked, still trying to process the news. "Why me?"
Na Ra pulled up an article on her phone, showing a video clip from the radio show. Yeon-jin watched herself perform the cover, remembering how nervous she'd been that day. She'd chosen the song on a whim, wanting to show a different side of herself.
"According to his team, he's been following your work for a while. He specifically mentioned your OST from 'Moonlight Garden' and that jazz collaboration you did with the Seoul Philharmonic last year." Na Ra's eyes gleamed. "He said your voice has the kind of emotional depth he's been looking for."
The compliment sent a warm flutter through Yeon-jin's chest. She'd poured her heart into that OST, staying up for days to get the feeling just right. To know that someone like Jungkook had not only heard it but connected with it...
"When would this happen?" she asked, already mentally reorganizing her schedule.
"They want to start next week. His team sent over a preliminary contract..." Na Ra pulled out a thick folder from her bag. "Everything looks standard, but I'll have legal review it tonight. The initial commitment would be for three months of dedicated studio time."
Three months. Three months of working closely with one of the most talented artists of their generation. The opportunity was incredible, but the pressure would be immense. Every move they made would be scrutinized by fans and media alike.
"What about my album?" Yeon-jin gestured to the scattered sheet music around her.
"This could be your album," Na Ra said softly. "A collaboration of this scale... it could take both of your careers in a whole new direction."
Yeon-jin stood, walking to the window. The sun was setting now, painting the Seoul skyline in shades of pink and gold. From this high up, she could see the endless stream of cars below, each person living their own story, making their own choices.
She thought about the lonely teenager who'd spent countless hours practicing in shabby noraebang rooms, dreaming of moments like this. That girl would have never believed she'd come this far and would have never imagined being considered an equal by someone like Jungkook.
"We'll need to clear my schedule," she said finally, turning back to Na Ra with a determined smile. "And I should start reviewing his discography tonight."
Na Ra was already typing rapidly on her phone. "I'll have your stylist put together some options for the first meeting. And I'll tell BigHit we're interested in moving forward."
"Ra-yah," Yeon-jin called softly, using the nickname from their trainee days together. "Thank you. For everything."
Her manager looked up, her eyes suspiciously bright. "Just don't forget me when you're winning Grammy awards with your new superstar partner."
Yeon-jin laughed, feeling some of the tension release from her shoulders. "As if you'd let me."
That night, long after Na Ra had left, Yeon-jin sat in her home studio, headphones on, listening to Jungkook's entire discography. She made notes about his vocal range, his stylistic choices, and the way he approached different genres. But more than that, she listened to the emotion in his voice, the stories he told through his music.
As dawn broke over Seoul, she finally took off her headphones, her mind full of melodies and possibilities. Whatever came next, she knew one thing for certain: this collaboration would change everything.

Introducting: Bruce Soli
What's their name?
His real name is Brucie Fernando Giordano-Soli, but the name he goes by in public and on stage is Bruce Soli
What's their age?
25
What's their birthday?
April 1st
What do they look like?
This guy is a mountain of a dude. Even by minotaur standards, he's huge. He's a whopping 9' tall with large, sharp horns that curve upwards towards the ceiling. He is pretty ripped aside from a bit of pudge on his belly that he's put on over the years of being on the road. He has green eyes and thick, short black fur covers his body whole body, all the way down until his cloven feet. He has a tail, but only about 1 foot of it is still there. The rest was amputated due to an infection.
What's their species?
He's a minotaur!
What's their ethnicity and nationality?
He has mostly Italian ancestry, but doesn't really know much beyond that. However, he was born in New York, so he has a bit of a Brooklyn accent because of his Nonna when he gets really pissed off.
What's their personality like?
He's a giant walking landmine. One wrong step, and he could get set off and blow your head off. His temper is unmatched and absolutely terrifying due to his size. He hides a lot behind his rage, and not much is known about his early life other than the many scars that litter his body. He is usually pretty chill most of the time nowadays since he started smoking weed, but he's also just a very loud dude in general, so it can only do so much.
What's some fun facts about them?
1. His only family member that he has contact with is his Nonna. She is the only person he won't swear in front of and will say "I love you" to, and his bandmates annoy him about it constantly.
2. He learned to play the guitar from his Nonna when he was little. He has an electric guitar he named "Killer" that he mainly uses on stage, but he has a secret acoustic guitar his nonna gave him that he keeps in his closet that he named "Lover" upon her request.
3. He has a huge soft spot for the band, but would never admit it. He may say he finds them insufferable and wants to get away from them, but he would kill for them in a heartbeat. There have been too many times when he almost did and sent himself into a very public scandal.
4. Although he does enjoy the company of men and women, he's never been with someone for more than one night. It has earned him the reputation of a playboy, but he always gets uncomfortable when people bring it up for some reason...
5. Due to his size, he hates being inside most buildings. Even in a world where there's a lot built for large monsters like him, he struggles inside most buildings to get around without causing damages. The amount of times he's gotten his horns stuck in the ceiling when standing up too quickly or the amount of doorways he's gotten stuck in that hadn't been made bigger yet is laughable, and is a huge trigger for his temper.
(Credit to @the-witches-creatures for her introduction template! And please go check out her OC's, especially Teyo and Oscar!)
(I hope you guys liked getting to know a little bit about Bruce! He's the main guitarist for "Monster Town" and I have the first part of his story in the works, as well as Claytons introduction! I hope you all enjoy! Any requests or ideas are always welcome btw! Thank you so much for your support!)

[2023.11.11] AERA Special Edition - Yuzuru Hanyu x Keiichi Yano
Sound Designer: Keiichi Yano I finally met an athlete who could perform ‘their own story’
Accompanying Creator Vol. 3 Keiichi Yano has been supporting Yuzuru Hanyu’s skating, which combines both precision and grandeur. A request” from Hanyu marked the beginning of a journey together with this one-of-a-kind performer. The soundscapes created by Yano further solidify Hanyu's worldview.
-Hanyu is a skater with a strong passion for sound, but in what ways do you feel his dedication?
The first time I received a request from Hanyu was the year before the Sochi Olympics. He expressed concern about a small noise heard at the transitions of the ‘Romeo & Juliet’ piece and asked if it could be eliminated. It was such a tiny noise that one wouldn’t notice during a performance at the venue, but it seemed to disrupt his focus when listening with earphones.
-From there, your collaboration began, and you also produced 'SEIMEI' which Hanyu performed at the PyeongChang Olympics.
The final form of 'SEIMEI' exists because of Hanyu. He had two specific requests: to include the sound of the flute and the final main theme, and then he said, 'The rest, I’m sorry, but I’ll leave it to you.'
At first, I had no idea about his preferences, but I selected sounds, tempos, and atmospheric pieces that would fit his skating from about 50 tracks in the movie 'Onmyoji.' Sometimes, along the process, he would send me a version that he had put together himself, saying, “The tempo of the piano doesn't really match, so I'll go with this tempo.'
Hanyu has a very strict approach to the movements and breathing in his programs. Not all athletes are like this, but when I watch their choreography, I often feel that many skaters aren't fully aware of the music. I feel frustrated and wish that more athletes would be conscious of the music and perform their own stories.
On the other hand, I also heard people saying, 'You shouldn’t be too focused on the music because it will throw you off after a fall.' Since I have never skated, I thought it might actually be difficult.
It was at that time that I met Hanyu. He has the music and choreography so perfectly ingrained in his body that even if he falls, he can quickly get back on track with the next note. I was really happy to see an athlete who could perform the music as if it were his own.
-Meeting Hanyu was also a striking experience for you. After competing in PyeongChang and Beijing, Hanyu announced his turn to professional status in July 2022.
When I heard about his turn to professional, I thought, 'Finally, this moment has come.' I also felt a fear of whether I could keep up with him now that he would be able to perform more freely (laughs).
-You participated as the sound designer for both 'Prologue' and 'GIFT.' Both were of high quality and truly wonderful. I imagined there must have been many hurdles to overcome to reach that point.
For 'GIFT,' the sound was originally handled by a different company, and I wasn’t scheduled to be involved. However, since they had never done an ice show before, I was asked to take a look at the sound plan. In managing competitions and shows, I always aim to create an acoustic space where the skater’s performance, the music, and the audience can all come together as one. When I reviewed the plan, I feared that it would not be possible to “synchronise with the sound,” which is what he is most particular about.
In figure skating, we hang speakers from the ceiling to ensure that the sound resonates evenly. However, this isn’t possible in a dome. To ensure that the music reaches both Hanyu and the audience simultaneously, I proposed placing speakers around the rink and erecting a sound tower on top, even though that would cause some visual obstruction. This led to a complete overhaul of the sound plan.
-Was there difficulty with the live orchestra performance as well? Since it was the first-ever Tokyo Dome performance in figure skating history, everything was exploratory. I wasn't sure if the sound would be as good as I thought it would be until we actually played the sound at the venue.
My other role was to have the musicians recreate the performance at the same tempo as Hanyu's program. Unlike music editing, it is not possible to make much adjustments in a live performance. It was also quite challenging to request renowned musicians to accommodate our needs.
Additionally, there are two types of sound: the live sound and the sound coming from the speakers. When you get close to the orchestra, the live sound comes through faster, creating a slight delay compared to the sound from the speakers. It's a matter of mere milliseconds, but that can blur the sound image. We tried to fine-tune everything until the last minute, but after the performance, Hanyu mentioned, 'Yano-san, that part just didn’t sync no matter what.'
-What kind of exchange did you have with Hanyu when you joined the show midway through?
Actually, we didn’t get into many specific details. I listened to his ideas, and then he entrusted me with the rest, saying, “You understand my program.”
-I’m sure Hanyu felt reassured with you on board.
I hope that’s how he felt. As long as I continue to receive requests, I’d like to create his sound environment as I always have. If there’s ever an issue with the music, I’m always willing to help.
-It’s hard to believe that it’s only been a year since he turned professional, considering all the challenges he’s taken on.
Until now, it was unimaginable to perform solo. While some aspects can be imagined in a typical show, Hanyu’s vision far exceeds that. I feel that moving forward, it will be a struggle between what is physically possible and what is not. How can we respond when Hanyu requests something that differs from what I imagined? I’m prepared for the increase in challenges.
-You will also participate as the sound director for the 'Yuzuru Hanyu ICE STORY 2nd "RE_PRAY" TOUR.'
Just like with 'Prologue' and 'GIFT,' Hanyu’s vision is grand, so there are many challenges to overcome. We are looking for ways to clear each hurdle and move on to the next step. There are still unknowns about what kind of show it will be. But one thing is clear: Hanyu values the audience above all else.

Fictober Day 9: "don't listen to me, listen to them"
That '70s Show Fanfiction
Hyde paced W.B.'s office at Grooves's headquarters. Angie was present, as was Jackie. She'd taken time off from her busy-as-hell schedule for this meeting.
"It's a dumb idea," he said. "I shouldn't have even brought it up."
"It's not dumb, and I'm happy that you told us about it." W.B. grasped Hyde's arm, stopping him near W.B.'s desk. "You're turning twenty-nine in less than two months. You're engaged. You should want more."
Angie's facial expression showed that she'd been waiting for this day. "I dreamt of running a record store since I was a kid. Then of running all of Grooves someday, and now I'm the company's senior VP of operations. You're allowed to pursue your dreams, too."
"I've already got more than I ever freakin' dreamed." Hyde glanced back at Jackie, who'd remained silent so far. "It ain't fair to to risk it all."
"You don't think creating Grooves was a risk?" W.B. said. I was married to Angie's mother, who was pregnant with Angie. We needed the security of a regular paycheck, but her mom wanted me to be happy. And my risk eventually paid off more than anybody could've imagined."
Hyde gestured in defeat. "I can't imagine this workin'."
Jackie stepped toward him and touched his hand. "Neither can I."
"Exactly."
"But don't listen to me. Listen to them."
Hyde stared at her. "Who the hell are you, and what've you done with my chick."
"Steven." She jostled his hand. "I'm redesigning my whole spring collection. I can't imagine that working either, but I'm doing it anyway. This time next year on October ninth, 1990, you'll have put out your first record on your own label."
"A sub label of Grooves Records, of course," Angie said with a smirk.
Hyde bowed his head and hunched his shoulders. "That's nepotism."
"That's expanding the family business." W.B. patted Hyde's back. "I'm not taking an opportunity away from anyone else. You've earned this. The demos you've played me, you have the ear, son."
Hyde sat in the closest chair. His legs were shaking from what was being said, being offered.
"You've been apprenticing under Frankie Branch to learn audio engineering, music production, for how long?" W.B. continued. "Picked up the guitar expertly in three years of lessons and learned as much by listening to songs. Taught yourself bass guitar. Became Cam's favorite drum student, and that's saying a lot."
Angie gazed at the high ceiling and shook her head. "Edna and Bud gave you no chance to realize you have perfect pitch. You didn't understand what you were capable of. You've had to play catch-up in your mid-twenties."
Jackie stood in front of Hyde and rubbed his arms over his long sleeves. "Your childhood was stolen from you. You once told me all the doors were locked for you but one. Your family, your true family, has unlocked so many. You've walked through a lot. Don't shut this door and walk away."
Hyde covered his face in his hands. His emotions were getting to him, breaking through his defenses. As a kid, Formans' folks signed Forman up for jazz guitar lessons, which he abandoned. Only the acoustic guitar remained, and Hyde played that thing every second he could at the Formans' house.
He used Forman's beginners' workbook to learn tabs that were printed alongside sheet music. Hyde couldn't read music for shit, but tabs he got. Songs on the radio, on records, stuck in his skull like recordings. He figured out how to play the guitar parts himself and, back then, had no clue why could do that.
He understood now.
"Son, are you all right?" W.B. said.
Hyde raised his head and wiped his eyes. "Yeah. Just ... when ya don't believe something's possible for you for so damn long -- and then it happens? Kind of a mind fuck."
"So you'll start your label?" Jackie smiled at him with such hope, such support, he would've fallen in love with her if he hadn't already fallen twelve years ago.
"Yup."
Jackie cheered, and W.B. congratulated him in a proud, fatherly way Hyde was still growing used to.
"What are you going to call it?" Angie said.
Hyde grinned. "Burn-Out Records."

There Was A Time:
previous chapters/warnings
5. Reckless Life
Tumblr media
Second person POV:
The next few weeks were great, you had paid for some fixes around the house; lights, water, ceilings, walls, even Axl's broken door as well as buying your own mattress and sleeping on it on the floor in Duff's room. The guys started doing more gigs with you on their side, they were more successful as you equipped them with better equipment, and got some of the guys from the company to set up the stage instead of the members themselves. But you'd soon get a call that didn't make any one happy. Your boss had to extend the time until you and the band could record till next year. But you still had gigs to get the money and you were planning photoshoots for the band to get more publicity. You sat around the coffee table in front of the couch discussing stage outfits. "We should really get you guys a photoshoot." You said. "You need some appearance in magazines and newspapers if you wanna get bigger." You continued. "Yeah, and not just have the headline 'Crazy singer punches man in audience and gets arrested'." Slash looked at Axl. "Watch it man." He lifted his fist. "Alright, alright. Just kidding round." Slash surrendered. Steven took one of the magazines from the table and showed it to you, pointing to the cover with a smile. "Michael Monroe? You wanna do a glam shoot?" You asked. "Yeah! But just not as crazy as Bowie." He spoke. "Gimmie that." Axl reached for the magazine and snatched it. "Looks gay. Let's do it." Axl said as he gave the magazine a quick look and handed it to Izzy. Everyone agreed to the idea, you knew exactly how they were going to look; fishnet tops, makeup, shit ton of hairspray, they'd look glamorous. And they did. The photoshoots were a success. It didn't get as much attention as everyone wanted but they had fun doing them.
It was now early November and not a lot has changed in your routine. Gig, drink, another drink, hangover, feel guilty the next week, deep clean, get Axl out of jail. Repeat. Today on the agenda though was looking at new songs the members were writing. Slash and Izzy wrote a song about Heroine called Mr. Brownstone, it needed tweaking, but they already had a great riff for it. Izzy also wrote a song with Axl called Shadow Of Your Love, Izzy played a riff he was working on and didn't know how to make it fit the song as he wanted it to be a lot more mellow and acoustic. You told him it to maybe play it faster, he refused, saying that he wanted a slower song. Axl agreed with you on picking up the pace. Izzy scoffed and you decided to stop and not get further on his bad side. There were a lot more other songs that were looked at during that session but a lot of them were discarded as just songs to play at gigs and not record.
Once that was done, Axl asked if anyone wanted to go out and just fuck around a bit, you were the only one that tributed as the others complained it was too cloudy and it was going to rain or that they just wanted to stay home. You and Axl went down the strip and did some window shopping before going to a park and just having a walk. Axl was a really sweet and deep guy, he was human like everyone else, it was just that when he got attention it was because of the wrong reasons, normally him lashing out and causing fights. Fights that were caused because of him being protective and misunderstandings. You and Axl had a close bond, not as close as him and Izzy, but the two of you could talk about anything. You had the best conversations in the dead of night talking about philosophical things, and once or twice opening up and talking about past experiences and crying and comforting each other.
The park was quiet, no one was out as the clouds were a dark grey and ready to start pouring. "Want some booze?" Axl asked breaking the comfortable silence. His hands swinging behind his back the two of you walked on the path. "Got some on you?" You asked, as you couldn't figure out where he'd fit a bottle on his person. He flicked his head in the direction of the liquor store that was right over the parks fenced edge. "Fine, but you're paying next time." You dragged a sigh. "Who said anything about paying?" He smirked at you as he raised an eyebrow smugly. "I'm not gonna sit here and watch you steal." You laughed at him. "And! Watch you get arrested again!" You added. "Come on sweetheart, you gotta live a reckless life sometimes." He said, as he began to walk backwards to the store whilst look at you and flicking his hands. "You live it far too often Rosey!" You shouted at him and started to follow.
You went along with Axl's plan to steal, well you were actually the most important part of his plan. While Axl hid the bottle under his jacket, you'd try seducing and distract the man behind the counter. Axl nearly dropped the bottle on the way out, but it went smoothly. The guy even gave you your own expensive bottle from the locked cabinet for a kiss, who wouldn't say no to a little kiss for a 200-dollar bottle of booze. After your little thievery episode, the two of you went back to park and sat under a big oak tree. "We hit the jackpot! Fuck yeah!" Axl smiled as examined the fancy bottle you scored. "I'm gonna have to bring you along to everything now." He said as he gave you a quick glance then continued reading the label. You chuckled and threw your head back as you got comfortable on the grass. "Oh yeah, I brought this too." Axl searched his pockets on the inside of his jacket and pulled out a bag of weed. You were quite excited, you always wanted to know how it was like to have a blunt rotation with Axl Rose. He rolled the blunt and you opened the fancy bottle. "I'm definitely bragging about you when we get home." He said as he lit the blunt. "Yeah, and we'll leave them with the crappy booze." "Nah, that's still mine. Mine and yours." He responded to your comment. You didn't know why, but when he talked to you or talked about you, you felt a small tingle in your stomach. Even when it wasn't a flirty line. You felt and hit on your upper arm, you snapped out of your daydream, Axl was handing you the blunt. You took a swig from the bottle and traded the items.
You talked and swapped objects the whole afternoon, saying crazier and crazier shit as the blunt burned smaller and smaller and as the amount of liquid got smaller and smaller. "I can't believe," he started talking, "That you never kissed me. No matter how much! I ask and ask!" He said in a completely deluded tone, but he somehow made it attractive. You giggled at him but respond to him. Soon you heard the pitter patter of rain fall down the ground and leaves above you, and it fell harder and harder by the second. Axl got up without a word, grabbed your hand and dragged you out into the rain with one swift move. You squealed at the cold drips of rain falling on you and getting you and him both soaked. He placed one hand on your hip, and the other was holding the neck of the bottle as he took a swig. You snaked your arms around his neck and the two of you began to sway your bodies side to side together under the pouring rain. There wasn't any music but the two of you were dancing with each other in perfect unison. Axl sat the bottle down to the side and held the small of your back with his now free hand, the other hand trailed up to your waist and held you.
Subconsciously your bodies drew closer and closer until they were touching, and the wet material stuck together, soon after your faces came closer and closer together. You stared into each other's eyes, his blue eyes were mesmerising. Everything on him was mesmerizing and perfect. Your faces were now inches apart, rain drops dripped from your clothes, hair and face. "About that kiss...?" He spoke softly and smirked. "Yes." You spoke quickly. He pulled you in and kissed you. Your lips crashed together passionately, but it was soft. You continued to sway in the rain as you kissed with shut eyes. It was wholesome and comforting. Your mind was looping and spinning, it was on a high, from the weed and his addictive lips. You felt dizzy but it wasn't a worrying feeling, Axl was there to catch you. After a few moments your lips drew apart, the two of you panted softly, you still held each other so you felt his warm breath on your skin. The two of you didn't say anything, you didn't need to, you said everything you needed to when your lips touched. The two of you inched your faces closer together, this time with more confidence, closing your eyes, ready for the embrace. Just before your lips touched for the second time, Lightning struck a corner of the park and thunder pursued. Loudly and violently. Making both of you jump. "Let's get out of here." You spoke. Axl firmly agreed, and you started venturing back home. You didn't say anything on the way back, you didn't know if he kissed you because of the drugs or booze, or both, or neither, but it sure as hell sobered you up. Axl didn't say anything either. You could feel he kept glancing at you, you were scared to look back, what if he was angry? Or what if it was awkward as much as it already is. You looked back at him anyway. A small grin like smirk appeared on his face as he looked at you. He stretched his arm slightly, and he nodded to motion for you to look down. His fingers were spread as he held his hand out for you. You took it and your fingers entwined with one another. He squeezed your hand a few times on the way home just to communicate with you without speaking.
It was dark and late when you got home. No one realised you came in, or they didn't care. The two of you walked down the corridor, Axl went into his room but stood by the doorframe to talk to you. "Goodnight, Ax." You told him. "Goodnight doll." And with that he closed his door. You were a bit shocked. You didn't know what to expect. No, you did know, you were at least expecting a kiss. With that thought the door opened again, he kissed on the lips softly then on the cheek. "We should do that again soon." He whispered in your ear, then winked before he closed the door. You touched your cheek with the biggest smile on your face, and practically skipped to you and Duff's shared room, but you stopped when you heard the strum of a guitar. You carefully peaked your head into Izzy's room. He was playing the Shadow Of Your Love riff, and fast. He kept increasing the speed of it. You could see a small smile form on his face, as he was satisfied with how it sounded. You continued to the room with a smug look on your face and a satisfied heart.

The Modern Cynic
The world is alive and dancing but he's inside and stoned plucking at the out of tune strings of a child-sized acoustic guitar Staring at the wall staring at the TV staring at the ceiling waiting his phone to start ringing just so he can get the satisfaction of hitting ignore
It's apathy that drives him forward There's nothing to care about except his own desire and he desires to spend life in a fog of weed smoke and big words five dollar words The lights are off because the light from the TV is just bright enough to read a truck delivers him groceries he's not the world's biggest people fan still holding on to the bitterness that comes from a broken heart
He doesn't know, he doesn't care Let him fall asleep in the armchair again Don't turn off the TV, you'll wake up a joint sits smoking in an ashtray The room is a mess and he knows it but he can't find motivation to clear it he can't find motivation to do anything
the millennial who never grew up the gifted child who never got the present the one with so much potential but he blew it, and now time is wronging out He's not afraid to live alone but fear is better had with company
A prisoner of habit is still a prisoner and it's only when this is realized can you make real change

Epilogue- Chapter 1
Imani’s POV- Elliot’s bedroom.
“What happened to being sober?” I asked, looking over at Elliot. A blunt is perched on the corner of his lips as he looks at me, and it takes me a moment to not yell at him. “Sobriety is a mindset, mani.” He replied, as I rolled my eyes.
I didn’t say anything for a few minutes, allowing my thoughts to compose themselves. “If you don’t like that I’m smoking, the doors that way.” He said, and I stayed quiet. If I was to leave, he’d probably call his friends, the same ones that kept him from sobriety. “Nah, it’s fine.” I muttered, mindlessly scrolling on my phone.
When you love someone, it’s hard to see their faults sometimes. The rose colored glasses are always on, making them look more beautiful. Loving Elliot used to be like that, but him constantly falling back into his patterns cracked them. It’s like I’m hyper aware that my boyfriend is an addict, just like Rue is. A terrifying thought that I might lose both the same way, except I’m not in love with rue: I’m in love with Elliot.
The room stayed quiet for a while, neither of us having anything to say, something that’s common in our almost 10 year long friendship, and our 1 year relationship. Sometimes we simply have nothing to say, just enjoying each other's company. But my mind refuses to be quiet, racing with thoughts of Elliot, from his lackadaisical attitudeto the fact that I really wanna hold him. I resisted the urge to reach over though, and a couple hours later I walked out.
Elliot’s POV- days later
I woke up on my floor, smelling weed and alcohol around me. There’s a line of cocaine on a book next to me, and I snorted it as my eyes fully opened. Making myself stand is a task, but I finally succeeded, seeing Rue sprawled out on my bed. My head was pounding as the cocaine worked into my system, but I knew it’d subside.
Being high is one of my favorite things in the world, because there’s no other feeling like it. Nothing in the world will ever give me the feeling of total nothingness or serenity like weed or cocaine will, hell even alcohol doesn’t come close. I love the feeling more than anything.
“Yo Elliot! That shit was crazy.” She said, getting off the bed. “Yeah, it was.” I agreed, having no idea what she’s talking about. After an hour she left, and I was now sprawled out on my bed, staring at the ceiling. My high has fully set in, along with the alcohol, and I feel fucking amazing.
So amazing, that I don’t hear Imani walk into the room.
“Elliot…what the fuck?” She asked, sounding exhausted. I looked up at her, a grin on my face. “Hi mani bear.” I slurred, as she sighed. “Honey, how high are you right now?” She questioned, as I heard the concern in her voice. I shrugged, truly being unable to answer the question.
She walked over, sitting on the bed next to my head. As if I’m a cat, I instinctively curled up on her lap, sighing deeply. “It feels good.” I muttered, feeling her ruffle my hair. “Yeah, I know.” She exhaled, looking at my eyes. I know she’s trying to see if I’m overdosing, but I feel her love. Makes me feel serene and calm, something I usually don’t feel. I’m almost scared of it, but my body’s too heavy to lift up.
“Mani.” I called, my voice low. “Hm?” She answered, as I inhaled. “Talk to me.” I said, feeling her fingers return to my curls. “Anything you wanna hear about?” She asked, her voice soft and sweet. “Just talk.” I mumbled, and she nodded. “Well, college is tiring. Especially statistics, but I passed my test. Then I caught up with Maddy.” She stated, as I listened intently. I love being in this position, just hearing her talk to me about everything.
After a few minutes, she moved me off her lap and got off the bed. I immediately sat up, feeling my brain go fuzzy. “Imani.” I said, as she looked at me. “What?” She replied, and I felt tears in my eyes. I have no idea if I’m getting upset because I have no control over my emotions or just because she moved me. “Are you leaving?” I asked, and she shook her head. “I was taking my shoes off…everything’s okay.” She sighed, coming back on the bed.
Except now she’s farther away, and I had to crawl over to lay on her. The same thing I’ve done since 9th grade every time I’ve gotten high, just laid on her and listened to her voice. She sighed once I was on her chest, but quickly put her fingers back in my curls. “What’s on your mind, hm?” She whispered, as I hummed. “Absolutely nothing, you?” I asked, and she shrugged. “Just thinking about how clingy you are today.” She answered, running her fingers through my curls.
“Just wanna be around you.” I mumbled, feeling myself doze off.
Imani’s POV
Elliot dozed off on me, and I sighed. I kissed his head, seeing a small smile on his lips. “You stress me the hell out, but youre lucky you’re cute.” I whispered, tracing his apple tattoo. “I need you to be better. This shit doesn’t feel good to me.” I mumbled, allowing myself to put my head back and close my eyes.

WOE, BIGGERING AU LORE BE UPON YE >:D
Tagging @iiboronii and @moonymelly hehehe
Ok so we follow the Buttermilk Daydreams storyline, with Artic and the Onceler meeting on the road, discovering the valley together, and Artic inventing mechanical wings!
Except this time thneeds do get off the ground like in the movie. The Onceler calls his family over and is excited to start business, but Artic has an increasingly bad feeling about this.
They said they weren’t gonna cut down trees. They made a deal, they had a compromise. And now that that’s gone, what’s stopping things from getting out of control?
The Onceler feels personally offended, betrayed even! She stuck around and believed in him this whole time, only for her to get cold feet the second he gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance at success? I mean something good finally happens to me, and she just has to come along and rain on my parade! What's her problem!
So the two have a falling out as the Onceler pursues growth and profit while Artic was content to stay as they were. Realizing he’s too far gone, she tries to destroy everything related to the wings and leaves. But he manages to hold onto old plans or steal his own wings back or something like that.
Timeskip to Thneedville, based on EPCOT and with a steampunk / industrial revolution aesthetic. The company controls basically everything, so you have no choice but to work for them.
Not to mention the way new and experimental appliances are constantly being installed and replaced in homes, just like in EPCOT. And there's a system similar to WEDCOMM (timestamp at 19:59 if the link doesn't work) where information is super centralized.
The Onceler’s office is at the very top of a super tall tower in the center of the city, with big open windows for birds (workers who use wings, I’ll get to that later) to fly in and make deliveries, give reports, etc.
OOH and there are definitely whisper-ma-phones set up all throughout the factory
I talk a lot about the acoustics of the factory with its massively high ceilings, but just imagine what it must sound like in there! The rumbling and hissing and clunking ka-thunks of pipes and gears! The whirring of fabric being spun!
The Onceler initially worked right alongside his employees, viewing the company as one big family. Making friendly chatter as the clickety clack of knitting needles filled the air.
When asked why he did this, well, why wouldn’t he? How was he supposed to run a business without knowing the people who did such hard work for him, much less sit idly by?
And besides, he was the one who invented this craft! He knows how to do things right around here.
That is, until one fateful day. The sun was setting, and most people had already left for the night. He could’ve sworn he fixed that finicky mess of a machine, or maybe tiredness had caught up to him.
But it only takes the smallest slip-up to get your arms caught in the gears and-
The Onceler shudders at the thought, slowly slipping off a glove to examine the scarred grooves and lines etched into his skin like wrought iron. Remembering the way his own shrieks and the sound of jamming gears reverberated through the room…....
No one spoke of that day. He made sure of it.
He became a lot more distant since then. A wakeup call that gradually changed the friendly guy who you’d almost forget was your boss, into Mister Onceler.
And the fact that he’s experienced firsthand how dangerous this place can be, yet it never gets resolved. He was able to save his own skin by taking a step back, but his workers are still at risk because he’d rather keep things as they are than pay for the costs it would take to redesign, rebuild, and reinstall everything.
Some jobs involve the use of wings, which he had stolen repurposed and refined for company use, using a more standardized base. Different types of wings have a different shape and color, making them easily identifiable!
Pigeons: They handle mail and deliveries throughout the city! Sometimes tasked to work with PR and give urgent news before the press can get to it. If you know where to look, it's not uncommon to see them hanging around large events just in case things go south.
Falcons: Tracking the weather, optimizing flight routes, and dealing with birdwatchers (explained later) to ensure pigeons have a safe trip. Sometimes they'll be the ones to deliver important mail / info, since falcon wings are built for speed.
Canaries: Coming from the phrase “canary in a coalmine”, and named for their bright yellow wings (like how construction workers have those orange vests with shiny stripes), these are the repairmen of Thneed Inc. Sometimes tasked with repairing malfunctioning machinery in midair, and rescuing anyone that’s gotten caught.
Vultures: Garbage and waste disposal, smogulous smoke and schloppity schlopp. It’s not common, but if anyone dies on the job, they’re the ones that discreetly dispose of the body. Black wings / hat / gloves, the latter of which has red palms.
Woodpeckers: Sporting spotted wings, they survey the valley and plan out axe-hacker routes through the steep terrain. They also evaluate the quality of truffula wood, checking for bugs and mold.
Pigeons and falcons used to be the same thing, as evidenced by how closely they work together, but over time they split into more specialized roles! I imagine during that transitional period, they were referred to as carrier pigeons and homing pigeons.
Each set of wings has its own ID number! A lot of bird-based terminology gets used and I love it so much it's so fun :D
There are big air vents set up all throughout the city for ease of flight, and there are little checkpoint towers for breaks during long trips. I imagine they've got an icebox with snacks and water in there, plus stuff like a medkit and a small radio.
Birdwatchers are thieves who track and intercept flights, often positioned near these air vents, using nets and such to down the bird and steal whatever they’re carrying / get information out of them.
Falcons have these talon-like attachments to their boots (inspired by Guardians of Ga'Hoole battle claws), for everything from added traction to divebombing a net to cut it open.
And it has a latch to pull the claws up if you're not using them, that way they don't make noise or scrape against the ground! The latch is on the inside of the boot (like the left side of the right boot, yknow the part where it curves in a little) so you can push it down with your other foot!
The Mister Once-ler in Chief himself has these fancy custom-fitted peacock wings that are dark green and red w/ gold accents, plus a detachable long peacock train that can fwoosh out and everything!
They're mostly for show, but I imagine there being a secret escape route in the office for when things get too heated and he needs to dip out fast, gliding down a spiral stairwell.
Also he definitely has goggles on the brim of his hat steampunk style. AND the tuft on his lapel is actually a hidden microphone, based on this post!!
As for Artic's design, I picture her in something like this!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Artic’s been living in an apartment working the assembly line, gone without her wings for at least a year or two. Sometimes her back feels… Not necessarily itchy? Just this vague sense of discomfort, like she can almost feel exactly where her wings would sit on her back.
She has a habit of rolling and flexing her shoulders, and sometimes she finds herself making room for them even when they’re not there.
Her coworkers are human versions of old D&D OCs, as a way to give them new life and a fun little reference ouo!
Kreva isn't a bird but she's super strong, Faye's in the confneectionery department, Averran is part of Thneed Inc's legal team, Veil is a vulture, and Kav is a newly appointed canary! The latter being a reference to how Kav was originally an aasimar with glowy yellow wings ouo
(Also the last canary, the one that Kav is replacing? Yeah, they're kinda dead-)
There's this scene where Kav is passing through and Artic stops her to inspect her wings and boy she is FUMING at what that rat bastard did to HER invention-
The frames are too standardized, the sensors feel dulled, the stitching is- Ok well the stitching is phenomenal and the fabric is sturdy. BUT LOOK AT HOW THEY MASSACRED HER CHILD
She also has a habit of giving others flight tips and stuff like how to adjust the straps properly, which makes people wonder how on earth she knows all this
One time they’re all drinking and hanging out, and Artic is staring longingly at a photo of the Onceler she keeps in a hidden pocket in her hat. The old Onceler. Her Onceler.
The others notice and they’re like “you knew the boss??????” and she rambles on about their time together and all the silly memories before everything went to shit. Artic voice I miss my friend Tails. I miss him a lot. I’ll be back
There's this scene of her dancing, using a pipe like a mic on a stand and having it roll off the inside of her wing like she’s dipping someone into a kiss- It’s not easy to make the wing curl in like that, but she describes it as like a flick of the wrist ouo
The second the Onceler realizes where she is and that she’s been working for him, he immediately appoints her as a falcon. Because his prideful ass will never admit it, but she knows how the wings work better than anyone.
She could help with making the wings more efficient, and figuring out how different flight routes play to the strengths of different wings shapes. And it's an excuse to see her again-
They argue often, over accusations of delivery routes not being fast enough, poor air quality and how pollution is affecting the weather, safety violations, etc.
I’m picturing this scene where Artic accuses him of not taking this seriously, of not grasping the very real danger people are in because he doesn’t know what it’s like to be within an inch of your life.
And after she storms out, he glances at his arm. His expression is unreadable as he pulls off the green fabric to see what became of it.
These two know each other better than anyone else. Unfortunately, they hate each other
They’re basically bitter exes even though they never actually dated akfjsdf- I’m picturing her chewing him out about something but he’s clearly not listening, and he blows smoke in her face to interrupt her
He’s such a RAT HE’S A RATTT
And you already KNOW they call each other snarky petnames- The Onceler calling Artic firecracker is sooooooooo <3
There's this scene where she's in his office as the sun sinks towards the horizon. A regular occurrence by now; they always seem to be swapping quips and trying to get on each other's nerves, but lately it's been more quiet.
He's standing by the window, she's sitting on his desk, and there's something about the way her hair shines in the golden light filling the room that's just......... Beautiful. I mean. It's getting late, you should probably go.
Eventually the two of them get into a scuffle which turns into a hate makeout sesh, but they find out that they've been holding onto old photos of each other and they're both so sentimental and aaauauauu...... You were right. I do need you.
They finally admit to how much they've missed each other. How much they love each other. And how sick and tired they are of pretending they don't care. Holding onto each other like it's all they have.
And the Onceler just bursts into tears. God, he's so sorry. For everything. For all the damage he's done and for everything he's gotten far too deep into. Was any of this worth it? If things keep going this way the whole valley could be dead. I can't do this alone, just- Just hold me and don't let go. Please.
Artic's there for him when no one else was, just like before. It's always been her. She reassures him that they can fix this, that everything's gonna be ok, but the Onceler asks how she's so sure.
We'll figure something out. We always do.
AAAUGH and this scene of them flying together- The Onceler hasn't flown in a while so he's a bit rusty, but it isn't long until they're soaring over the city below and the way they twirl under the moonlight makes it look like they're dancing at the top of the world.
It's just a much-needed breath of fresh air. The softness of familiar company, without having to hide it under layers of sarcasm. Just letting themselves love each other.
The transition from petname (derogatory) to petname (affectionate) hhhhh- AND THEM USING THEIR OLD NICKNAMES FOR EACH OTHER. Artic calling him Ollie again.........
Also I have the mental image of Artic sitting on the Onceler’s arm and resting her chin on her hands on top of his head, kinda like this and I think it’s funny. Get perched on idiot
But something that people haven’t really mentioned about the barren state of the valley is how that would make way for more extreme weather, like dust devils and flooding. (Note: The initial inspo for this was the end of the Biggering Storyboard, where to me it looks like there are dust devils in the distance ouo)
This HUGE flood happens that the city is not at all prepared for, so everybody works together to set up sandbags, evacuate people, get resources, and just minimize as much damage as possible.
Part of the factory gets busted up and fuckign explodes and Artic goes in to save someone (insert reference to the Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole fire scene), but in doing so her wings catch on fire-
There’s this BANGER scene in my head of Artic spinning way up into the sky, red flames against the dark blue-greens of the sky, before falling like a shooting star and plummeting into the muddy water flooding the streets.
The Onceler drags her outta there but her wings don’t work anymore (and they were prob a huge hazard in a storm like this anyways since they’re made of metal), so she takes them off and continues the work on foot.
Eventually the storm passes, pale yellow light shining through smoggy blue-gray clouds. Everything is silent save for the idle dripping of water.
The catastrophe is over, and by this point everyone realizes that all this would never have happened if it weren’t for the damage the Onceler has done to the environment, so they’re all after his ass lmao-
BUT the last tree never got cut down, so perhaps there’s still hope. Efforts are made to rebuild everything that got damaged, and regrow everything that was lost. Woodpeckers are now tasked with tracking the valley's regrowth, checking on all the little saplings.
Artic and the Onceler sitting under a truffula tree as the valley regrows.
Him singing, hands gliding over the strings of his old guitar. The one that started it all. Feeling a fluttering in his chest as Artic joins in, the way their voices complement each other perfectly. Oh, how he missed her......
The song ends with one final strum, easing into a peaceful silence as they sit there in the shade. Listening to the birds chirping in the distance and the gentle rustling of untouched tufts in the breeze.
The Onceler leans back with his eyes closed, taking a deep breath of fresh air. A hand brushes over his and he instinctively holds it with a light squeeze. He turns to see Artic smiling at him with such a softness in her eyes, sweet as a memory. We made it.
There is hope. And despite everything that's happened, despite everything we've been through, it's gonna be alright after all <3
SO HERE’S THE PLAYLIST I’VE GOT SO FAR :D
So What: Their falling out from the Onceler's perspective. Storming off in a huff, determined to prove Artic wrong. To prove everyone wrong! He doesn't need her anyways! He's gonna do great, actually, and if she doesn't wanna be on the right side of progress then that's her own darn fault!
Fame < Infamy: This song represents that middle point between the gray and the green, so to speak. When things are just getting started and he's getting his first taste of things going his way. How he prioritizes his sprouting business over his relationships, reveling in the success and setting his sights ever higher. "The kid was alright, but it went to his head"
Biggering: The classic, the legend, the song which needs no introduction :D
Don't Mess With Me: A man reveling in his newfound power and desperate to be taken seriously now that things are finally going his way, but the lightness of the song (and the random mention of dinosaurs and even the name of the song itself) betrays that he might not be as cool and tough as he makes himself out to be.
No Place Like Home: THIS. THISSSS. If I had to choose a main theme for the AU, it would be THIS. IT’S SOOOO THEM IT’S EVERYTHING. This song was one of the big initial inspirations for the AU and I'm gonna make another post just goign crazyinsane over the lyrics BECAUSE IT'S SOOOOOOOOO
Devil in Disguise: This is of the songs I imagine Artic dancing to like that scene with the metal pipe ouo
Attention: Just kiss already
Toxic: JUST KISS ALREADYYYYY
House of Memories: The Onceler's regret for everything that happened between him and Artic and just wanting to go back to how things were. Both of them finally admitting their feelings for each other, how much they need each other. "WILL YOU REMEMBER ME IN THE SAME WAY / BECAUSE I REMEMBER YOU" EXPLODES AND DIES FOREVER. No one else understands me like you do, can we try again.....?
Vegas Lights: What if we were friends-turned-enemies-turned-lovers and we flew around the city at night, feeling the wind in your hair as you look down at all the lights dotting the ground below, and we rose into the air dancing under the moonlight....... And we kissed......... Haha jk jk. Unless? "We gotta be starting something / would you change it if you could?"
Glad You Came: Ok this song just sounds magical and they're just happy to be in each other's company and they trust each other and aaaaaa <3
My Love Mine All Mine: Artic and the Onceler all cuddled up with moonlight shining through the window and she thinks he's asleep so she starts singing this........ And her eyes are closed and the Onceler looks up to see her singing and her hair glows in the moonlight and ouhg......... <3
The Phoenix: The rising tide of the flood and fabric crackling in the heat. Our time is running out, but we can still make things right. How? We'll figure something out. We always do.
Underneath the Sycamore: This song just feels like a deep breath, relaxing your shoulders for the first time in forever. We made it. We really made it. And the softness they have for each other now........ They really do know each other better than anyone ouo

I'm not gonna lie, I'm actually pretty proud of this chapter. With it, we're about halfway through what I would consider Act 1. Just a bit more to get set in place before we can dive into the thick of things.
Enjoy!

Act 1, Chapter 7: Dancing is Good for the Soul
Tuesday
10:30 PM
Chrysanthemum
With weight properly centered, Chrys bent her knees and lowered her body in a gradual descent towards the floor, keeping her feet flat and pointed out. Rising up, she trailed her fingertips up through the air in a lyrical arch, slow and steady and controlled. Once more, down low, back straight, fingers floating towards the ground before settling over her belly, held barely a breath apart.
Over and over again she repeated the warm-up, her aching muscles releasing stuck tension with every deliberate dip. She held firm to the bar beside her, something solid to keep her balanced and grounded as her mind slipped into comfortable muscle memory. While she was no stranger to exercise, it had been years since she tried to keep up with a dozen, over-energized kids for hours at a time, and they’d left her winded. She’d be stiff and sore come morning if she didn’t try to work out some of the kinks while she could.
Tipping forward, she trailed her fingers out in front of her, grazing along the floor, letting her non-dominant leg tilt in opposition towards the ceiling until it could go no higher, toes kept delicately pointed. Returning to center, she repeated the motion, this time facing the other direction, swiveling to switch onto the opposite arm and leg.
Ballet had always been a sturdy foundation for her. Something to keep her moving, when all she wanted to do was flop onto the couch and stay there for the rest of the evening. It may be a struggle for her to devote much effort to self-care nowadays, but ballet didn’t count. It was fun. Relaxing. A reliable escape.
She didn’t dare spare a glance to the music stand and electric piano tucked out of the way in the farthest corner. That form of escape had been… off limits for some time now.
In its absence, Dr. Libby had taught her breathing exercises, meditation techniques, the works. More “holistic” techniques than a New Age magazine could shove in its pages. They were all fine, she supposed, and sure to be helpful for some people. Just not her. If she spent too long with just her thoughts for company, they’d serve only to grow louder and threaten to break free. The last thing she needed were for those demons to be the ones running the show. Who knows what trouble she’d find herself in then.
No, what she needed was to get her lungs pumping, to work-up a thin sheen of sweat. Only by physically shaking off her thoughts did they actually start to feel more manageable, and less like a monster waiting in the dark.
Stepping out to the middle of the studio, her canvas ballet slippers skirted across the rubber padded floor soundlessly.
“Alexandra, play “No Thoughts, Head Empty” playlist”.
Chrys’s voice bounced around the empty, mirrored room, the acoustics amplified without any soft goods to absorb it. An automated voice confirmed her command, followed by sharp violin notes which shot through the surround sound speakers, cutting the air and settling in her chest. Once drums and a fast-paced brass orchestra joined in, jazzy and powerful, Chrys let go, and released herself to the music.
A side step. A kick. A twirl. Kneeling on the floor. Rolling over sideways. Standing upright. Arms thrown out in front of her, reaching. Back to her chest.
Her body knew what it needed. Which emotions lived where. All she had to do was let it work its own way out. She relished in the lack of control, in moving however felt right. Muscles flexing and relaxing in turn, it was in here that she felt strong. Safe. What she wouldn’t give to live every minute of the day in this quiet pocket of space and time, where real life didn’t exist. Just her, and the music.
But that would never be. Reality would inevitably rear its head, demanding she return to the world. Whether to eat, or sleep, or to attend to other needs, it didn’t matter. She’d have to leave her safe space one way or another. Pity that “socializing” was deemed as one of those basic human needs, according to her therapist. That woman would never stop urging her to get out more, no matter how little appeal the notion held.
Least she could now report that her “trouble” client finally got a job, and wasn’t a complete failure. Perhaps their next telehealth appointment might go better than the last. A small blessing, Chrys supposed.
But what would her well-intentioned doctor think of the new job, though? Would she approve? Funny how her little ploy to get her to “interact with more people” meant she’d be spending the majority of her time with an inorganic robot instead. Ironic, really.
Though, maybe it still counted. Be harder to convince her he wasn’t a person after spending the whole day with him. He walked, talked, acted like any other human being you’d encounter on the street. Well, maybe not any human. No one had as much exuberance and energy as he did, by far.
In fact, the more she thought about it, the more right it felt. In less than 24 hours he’d seen more of her inner vulnerability than she’d let her own therapist see over a span of twelve months, a feat Chrys would have never have seen coming. Something about him just felt so welcoming and… and genuine. Like being with a real friend again.
“Geez. I’m not that starved for attention… am I? Ugh.” She grunted to no one.
The heavy, aggressive song ended, switching to one more somber and sad, full of string instruments and piano. Chrys gave into the pulls of her body again, letting it move along to the rhythm without direct input on her part. Her mind floated to the more uncomfortable recesses of her mind as she danced languidly about the room.
She’d cried today. More than cried, she’d had a panic attack. Over something as stupid as thinking she’d get fired. What did she really stand to lose? She didn’t need the money, and it wasn’t like she’d become invested in the place yet. She scrunched her face as flashes of the moment forced their way to the forefront of her mind’s eye. How pathetic she must have looked, freaking out like that. Anyone else would have probably reported her to their supervisor then and there, getting her fired regardless. No one would want to put up with a blubbering mess, and she wouldn’t have blamed them.
Not Sun though.
Sun was calm with her. Spoke softly, kindly, bringing her back to earth without judging her. He just… cared. He helped.
And because of that, here she was, actually looking forward to going back to that place come tomorrow morning. A novel concept, really, though not an unpleasant one.
Was this what it was to start to heal? To move on? To remember how it was to actually laugh again, and mean it?
Guess the only way to find out would be to see this through.
Thoroughly out of breath, Chrys panted her words, instructing the music to stop and walked over towards the door where she’d left a cup of water on the top of a storage cabinet. She drank deep, enjoying the sensation of the cool water spreading through her stomach. Taking in the room, her eyes settled on her reflection multiplied across the mirrors lining one wall.
It was her mother who stared back.
Same shade of deep, dark red hair. Same long, slender limbs, centered around wide hips. Same oval face, and light skin sprinkled with freckles across her nose and cheekbones. The only feature she inherited from her father were her eyes–a bright, striking green. The last shred of evidence proving he ever existed.
Setting down the now empty glass, Chrys clicked off the light and left the room, walking down the hallway towards the bathroom. She’d need a shower before she turned in for the night.
What would they think about their little girl now, she wondered? Hard to say for her Dad. As the years passed, remembering his mannerisms, his voice, his face, became almost neigh-on impossible. The curse of creating memories when one was so young. But her mom… her mom would have been happy, clapping her hands together and simply proud of her for hitting a goal. She’d never been picky about when to celebrate her daughter; Any little thing that could be a win, was a win.
Too bad they’d never get to share in any of those wins together anymore.
Stepping into the bathroom, Chrys flicked on the overhead fan and light, illuminating the white tiled room. She stripped out of her well-worn dance attire, and went to the glass enclosed standing shower to get the water going. After a second or two to allow the temperature to rise, Chrys stepped into the shower, letting the hot water and steam wash away her earlier exertions.
In the hazy air, without the distraction of movement, Chrys’s mind drifted further. She wished she could tell her mother about her day, to talk about how crazy it was to be working with a robot, and how much she found she liked it. Coming home to this giant empty house, that had been far too big for just the two of them even when they’d first moved in, was the epitome of loneliness. The pervasive silence made it abundantly clear that this was not a home any longer, only a house. A single, oversized farmhouse with an equally large barn, on miles and miles of uninhabited, forested land. A single island of shelter in a sea of isolation.
If she’d had siblings, maybe things would be better. But Dad had passed before they’d had another, and Mom never remarried. For as long as she could remember, it was just her and Mama. And the children Mama nannied.
But for a while there, she thought she’d found a brother. Someone her age to grow up with, the son of a wealthy businessman. It didn’t matter to her that she got to stay in his family’s mansion while her mother looked after him. Spending time with him, exploring the gardens, staring up at the clouds and watching stars twinkle together without a care in the world, dreaming of what they were going to do once they grew up, were the highlights of her younger years.
And now even he had abandoned her too.
Chrys’s fingers worked through her tangled, wavy locks, lathering up the shampoo and washing it out under the waterfall shower-head. She closed her eyes and held her nose, lifting her face towards the falling droplets and letting them roll across her face.
Sun had mentioned having a brother, Chrys remembered, as she moved out from under the water and wiped clear her eyes. A twin, he’d said. She had a difficult time trying to imagine what a twin of Sun would look like. As a robot, wouldn’t a twin be an identical copy? Wasn’t that how mass producing things worked? But that didn’t fit the reputation of Fazbear Entertainment. Every commercial screamed how unique and advanced their animatronics were. Wouldn’t make much sense to invest all those resources into a basic carbon copy.
Not all twins are identical, though. What if this was more akin to a fraternal situation, where they were related, but still their own person? That seemed more likely. She grabbed the bottle of conditioner off the shelf and squeezed a dollop into her hand, rubbing it into the ends of her hair and working it up through the strands from the bottom. She’d let it sit and soak in while she washed the rest of her body.
What had Sun said his name was, again? Moondrop? How on the nose, to have a sun and a moon as a pair of siblings. Day and night, light and dark, yin and yang. Following that train of thought though, what might he be like? She tried to envision the polar opposite of Sun. If he was loud, playful, over-the-top; Would Moon be quiet and reserved then? Mysterious? Or mischievous? With the kids involved, she doubted Fazbear would make him too dark, despite his namesake. Kids loved tricks and treats, not monsters, especially when it came to trying to get them to go to sleep.
Turning off the faucet, the water falling from above slowed to barely a trickle, and Chrys exited the shower stall, careful to stand only on the mat so that she didn’t leave puddles everywhere as she dried off. She slipped into her cotton pajamas, grateful to her earlier self for having the good sense to put them there beforehand, and made her way to the kitchen for the last step in her nightly routine.
She found her electric kettle right where it always sat, in its place of honor at the kitchen counter. With a quick browse of her stock, she settled on a simple classic; Chamomile tea for easy sleep with honey. Soon, steam rose from the ceramic mug, too hot to attempt a sip, but not enough to keep from enjoying the warmth that seeped into her hands, comforting amidst the growing chill in the house. The cuckoo clock clicked away the seconds as the wind picked up, rattling the window panes outside. A storm was likely working its way in.
Chrys stared into the cooling liquid, as if the answers to her thoughts were hiding there, the answers she’d avoided seeking until the last minute. Who was that she’d met when the lights went out in the storeroom? He’d startled her, sure, but could she blame him? She’d been foolish to bolt in the dark like that. If it hadn’t been for him leaping to her rescue, no doubt she’d be in the hospital right now, if she even lived to make it that far. She shuddered to think of how badly that would have hurt, to be so unlucky as to have been caught under that avalanche of heavy paint cans.
Yet, at the crux of it, she knew who that was. Or, at least, her gut told her she did. Moon. It had to have been him. Why else would he seem so eerily similar, so like Sun? She’d managed to mistake the two of them for goodness sake. And as dim as it was, she knew what she saw, even if only for a moment—that crescent-moon face was undeniable.
But there were still too many unknowns for her to be confident in her conclusion. Why had he been there at all? Was it just because the power went out? Did that send some sort of signal throughout the building? It would make sense then that security would be sent to check it out. Though, if that was the case, why didn’t he say anything earlier? It was as if he was trying to remain unseen.
…Maybe he was.
Chrys chewed at her lip, sensing where her mind was going before she could, the answer waiting just on the tip of her tongue. Then, it all clicked, the epiphany ringing through her mind like a bell, causing her to sputter into her drink.
Their locations. They didn’t add up.
The last she’d seen, Sun had left to search the left side of the room.
He came back on the right.
The same direction Moon had left the room from seconds earlier, and hadn’t returned.
Chrys coughed up the liquid that had managed to fall down the wrong tube in her throat, setting the mug down onto the counter while she leaned against it for support. What did this mean? She saw the correlation clear as day, just not the causation. Sure, there was a chance there were connecting tunnels between the two, but that didn’t fit well into the time-frame, not to mention the fact that they should have run into the other along the way. So, unless there were some super secret robot abilities she was not privy to, moving to two different locations without intersecting in the middle shouldn’t be physically possible.
At least, not for two individual people.
No. No, this was crazy, even for a larger-than-life family entertainment center. Her imagination must be getting away from her. And yet… what if. What if this wasn’t a case of fraternal twins, like she’d first assumed. Or even identical. What if… they were conjoined?
She had no idea how that would be possible. Or ethical, given that they were technically made, rather than born. But, still… something told her she was onto something here.
There’d be no easy way to find out, of course, unless she decided to ask Sun about it point blank. With the nervous way in which he tip-toed around talking about the very subject of his brother, however, Chrys had a sneaking suspicion that doing so would be the wrong way to go about it. Still… she wasn’t without options. There were other ways to test her theory, though none as upfront or honest. She should just let it go, leave the thought be. It wasn’t that big of a deal if she knew their situation or not, nor was it really any of her business.
A terse voice flitted into the back of her mind, urging her to reconsider. The same voice that came to her whenever the nightmares visited, the one that always spoke to her in hushed, seething tones whenever she felt her lowest. Now, it whispered that she’d be a fool to accept such an uncertainty. That being so forgiving and trusting with someone she’d just met was far too dangerous to let slide. Didn’t she remember what happened last time? Didn’t she know all too well what dangers thrived through ignorance, no matter how innocent?
No, it… it was right. She had to know, if she were to continue in this job, that if she spoke to one, did she also speak to the other? Her heart ached at the idea of knowingly holding a secret motive towards an idea born originally out of thanks, especially towards someone who’d shown her such kindness, but the tension in her gut wouldn’t release until she gave in. For her own protection, she reassured herself, though the justification rang hollow even as she thought it. With a sigh, she consigned herself to another late night, leaving her mug of forgotten tea to grow tepid on the counter as she made her way down the hallway to her mother’s old craft room. One way or another, she’d have the answers she sought.
There’s no way they could be one and the same….right?

Noise Control Systems Ensuring Comfort and Quiet in Every Space
In our increasingly busy world, noise pollution is becoming a significant concern, particularly in places where peace and comfort are essential. Whether in residential buildings, offices, or public spaces, unwanted noise can impact productivity, health, and overall well-being. This is where noise control systems come into play—integral solutions designed to minimize noise levels and create peaceful environments. Among the various sectors benefiting from noise control, hospitality industries are particularly reliant on effective soundproofing solutions.
In this article, we will explore the concept of noise control systems, their importance in various sectors, and how companies like NoiseControlSystems are leading the charge in providing effective hospitality noise control solutions.
Understanding Noise Control Systems
Noise control systems refer to a combination of strategies, technologies, and materials used to manage, reduce, or eliminate unwanted sound. Noise is measured in decibels (dB), and it can be classified into two main types: airborne noise (such as voices, music, or traffic) and structure-borne noise (such as vibrations from machinery, HVAC systems, or foot traffic).
The primary goal of noise control is to reduce the intensity of sound, prevent it from traveling between spaces, and improve the acoustics of an environment. Noise control strategies typically involve one or more of the following methods:
Absorption: Using materials that absorb sound waves to prevent them from bouncing around a room or space.
Isolation: Creating barriers or enclosures that prevent noise from transmitting through walls, floors, or ceilings.
Damping: Reducing the vibrations of surfaces to minimize the transmission of sound.
Decoupling: Creating gaps or spaces between structural elements to prevent sound from traveling through solid materials.
These methods are often employed in combination to create a comprehensive noise control solution.
The Importance of Noise Control
The significance of noise control cannot be overstated. Excessive noise in both public and private spaces can have a wide range of negative effects. In workplaces, for instance, noise can decrease concentration, productivity, and communication, while in hospitals, it can hinder recovery and disturb patients. Similarly, in homes, noisy environments can affect sleep quality and overall health.
In hospitality environments, where comfort, tranquility, and customer experience are paramount, managing noise levels is critical. Noise in hotels, resorts, and restaurants can negatively impact guests' satisfaction, potentially leading to poor reviews, repeat business loss, and damage to a brand's reputation.
Hospitality Noise Control Solutions
The hospitality industry presents unique challenges when it comes to noise control. Hotels and resorts, for example, typically involve large, open spaces with multiple rooms or sections that must be protected from the intrusion of external and internal noise. This includes everything from noisy traffic outside, bustling city streets, to loud guest activities such as loud conversations, footsteps, and elevator operations.
Hospitality noise control solutions aim to ensure that these noise sources do not disrupt guests' comfort and privacy. Effective noise control in hospitality settings includes:
1. Soundproofing Guest Rooms
Guest rooms are the most sensitive areas for noise disturbances. Effective soundproofing solutions, such as installing soundproof windows, insulated walls, and ceiling treatments, can significantly reduce noise. This prevents sound from traveling between adjacent rooms or from the outside. NoiseControlSystems, for instance, offers advanced soundproofing technology that minimizes airborne and structure-borne noise to create a tranquil and private environment for hotel guests.
2. Reducing Noise in Common Areas
Lobbies, hallways, dining areas, and conference rooms are areas of high foot traffic where noise can quickly build up. The use of acoustic panels, ceiling tiles, and carpets in these spaces can absorb excess sound and maintain a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. NoiseControlSystems provides customized acoustic treatments that suit the specific needs of hospitality venues, ensuring that common spaces remain inviting and comfortable.
3. Controlling HVAC and Mechanical Systems Noise
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are often a significant source of noise in hotels and resorts. The rumbling of air ducts, fans, and compressors can disturb both guests and staff. Duct insulation, vibration damping, and soundproofing of equipment rooms can help reduce these noises. NoiseControlSystems offers solutions designed to reduce the sound output of HVAC systems while maintaining their performance.
4. Minimizing Noise from Elevators
Elevators are another source of noise, especially in high-rise hotels. The movement of elevators can cause vibrations and audible noises that disrupt the quietude of adjacent rooms. Isolation and damping technologies installed around elevator shafts can significantly reduce the transmission of these sounds, creating a more peaceful environment for hotel guests.
5. Exterior Noise Reduction
For hotels located in urban areas or near airports, roadways, or train tracks, external noise intrusion can be a serious issue. High-performance windows, wall insulation, and the strategic placement of rooms away from noise sources are critical in minimizing external disturbances. NoiseControlSystems offers soundproofing solutions that create a barrier against external noise, enhancing the comfort of guests even in the most bustling of locations.
6. Customized Acoustic Design
No two hospitality venues are the same. That’s why customized solutions are crucial for achieving the best results in noise control. NoiseControlSystems works closely with hotel owners, architects, and designers to tailor acoustic treatments to the specific needs of each space. From boutique hotels to large resorts, the company ensures that every area is acoustically optimized for maximum guest satisfaction.
The Role of NoiseControlSystems in the Hospitality Industry
As the demand for quiet, comfortable environments grows, NoiseControlSystems has emerged as a leader in providing comprehensive noise control solutions for the hospitality industry. With years of experience, the company combines cutting-edge technology with expert craftsmanship to deliver effective soundproofing and noise reduction solutions.
Their portfolio includes a variety of products and services, such as soundproofing windows, acoustical panels, custom flooring solutions, and advanced HVAC noise reduction systems. Whether it’s a small boutique hotel or a sprawling resort, NoiseControlSystems offers practical, high-performance noise control technologies that make a real difference.
Conclusion
In conclusion, noise control systems are essential for improving the quality of life in various environments, and nowhere is this more critical than in the hospitality industry. Whether for reducing external noise in city hotels or minimizing disturbances in resort areas, effective noise control ensures guests enjoy peaceful and private spaces. Companies like NoiseControlSystems play a vital role in providing specialized, customized noise control solutions that meet the unique needs of the hospitality industry.

Best Acoustic Solutions for Home Studios: Sound Quality Starts Here
Tumblr media
Making the most of your Best Acoustic Solutions for Home Studios is crucial to generating the ideal soundscape. A studio's sound quality has a direct impact on the end product, whether you're recording music, creating podcasts, or mixing audio. Unwanted reverberations echoes, and sound distortions can detract from the professionalism of your work and make it more difficult to polish.
At Total Soundproofing Solutions, we recognize how crucial it is to have a studio with the best possible acoustics. Offering you excellent acoustic solutions that will improve your recording experience overall and your sound quality in particular is our aim. We possess the necessary equipment and know-how to establish the perfect workspace for your work, regardless of your level of experience as a sound engineer.
Why Acoustic Treatment Matters for Your Home Studio
Let's take a moment to comprehend the significance of Best Acoustic Solutions for Home Studios before moving on to the best solutions. Waves of sound bounce, reflect, and occasionally distort as they interact with different surfaces, including walls, ceilings, and furniture. If left untreated, this can result in:
Excessive Echoes: Your recordings become muffled by echoes produced when sound reflects off hard objects like walls and floors.
Standing Waves: Unwanted bass buildups are produced when sound waves bounce back and forth between parallel surfaces.
Fluctuating Frequencies: Untreated spaces may exhibit varying responses from high and low frequencies, resulting in uneven sound quality.
These problems are resolved by effective acoustic treatment, which enables you to record with greater clarity and accuracy. With the correct equipment, you can improve the overall sound quality of your home studio, reduce unwanted noise, and guarantee greater sound clarity.
Best Acoustic Solutions for Home Studios
To enhance the sound quality of your home studio, Total Soundproofing Solutions provides a range of high-quality acoustic devices. The following are a few of the best remedies:
1. Acoustic Panels
Acoustic panels are one of the most common and effective treatments for improving sound quality in a home studio. These panels absorb sound waves and reduce unwanted reflections, helping to control the room’s acoustics. By strategically placing them around your studio, you can control reverb and echo, allowing you to achieve a more balanced sound.
2. Bass Traps
In a home studio, bass frequencies are frequently the hardest to regulate. Bass build-up is probably to blame if you've ever heard your recordings sound "boomy" or muddy. The purpose of bass traps is to absorb low-frequency noises and stop them from reverberating throughout the space.
3. Soundproof Curtains
Soundproof drapes can be a big help for studios that are close to traffic or in noisy areas. These thick, hefty drapes keep sound from escaping your room and block off outside sounds. They are a flexible choice, simple to install, and, for maximum impact, can be combined with other  Best Acoustic Solutions for Home Studios.
4. Diffusers
Acoustic panels and other absorption items are excellent for removing unwanted noise, but diffusers have the reverse effect. Diffusers disperse sound across the space rather than absorbing it. A more realistic, even sound is produced as a result, particularly in larger studios or spaces with high ceilings.
5. Isolation Pads
Using isolation pads is a great technique to prevent vibration and sound from travelling through floors, walls, and ceilings. These pads are placed under speakers, subwoofers, and other equipment to isolate vibrations and prevent them from affecting the overall sound.
Why Choose Total Soundproofing Solutions?
Total Soundproofing Solutions is a reputable company with years of experience in the acoustic and soundproofing fields. They can help you improve the acoustics of your home studio. This is the reason:
