god kebian should've won lr4m2. imagine if toby lost twice in a row. imagine if kebian's only loss was to alphagenos. imagine if- okay well losers' finals was going to be both contestants that lost to ag no matter what. i don't think they could've beat dubduo but just imagine
#like. i voted for toby for a reason. because underatle/general toby (at this point) reps are in a shitty situation in the scene rn#where they're common as all hell but can't ever make it far enough for people to be satisfied#just look at mettaton mwc & mettaton acor & mettaton (& co) mwm#god. results talk has gotten my mind going#like. i can see toby taking the entire tournament if the track output for the next rounds goes a real specific way#and yet simultaneously i can't imagine him taking losers' finals#and fuck me i don't want to even think about toby in goners like no matter what happens there it's not going to be great#he loses twice in a row? get fucked undertale rep. he survives? of course the undertale rep clings to life#i wish he'd beat alphagenos. i don't want him anywhere near goners bracket.#i can't believe i'm malding about a loss that i helped contribute to. kebian were so good & the flesh have such potential#i think i need to start making more separate posts rather than shoving like 3 posts' worth of thoughts into the tags of just one

This is completely unprompted but here are my top 5 Choices books:
1. Endless Summer:
I mean, this is just an absolute classic, I love mystery, I love fantasy, and every ending was so heart wrenching in its own way. And your choice actually matters (ironic that this is so rare for a book called Choices, but oh well) I never recovered from when I read this for the first time, unmatched.
2. Blades:
You don’t even know how much I went back and forth between these two for the number one spot. Honestly they’re both my favorite. The writing, the character, the plot, the music, the art, Blades has it all. I remember playing the final chapter with goosebumps all over my body. I’m a DnD player, what can I say.
3. Crimes of Passion:
Banger, banger, banger. Just so good, the romance between Trystan and the MC was amazing yet it didn’t feel like it was overtaking the plot at any point, I loved their dynamic and I love the intricacy of the overall mystery. Just the right amount of dark and lighthearted, I will never get tired of rereading this book.
4. The Elementalists:
I know there are valid criticisms of this book out there, but it’s just so fun. I love the worldbuilding, I love the magic system, I love how balanced the emphasis between romance and platonic relationships is. Also, academic rivals to friends/lovers, you can’t go wrong with that. And you get to play a super cool magic jock!!
5. Bloodbound:
Okay, so I will admit I didn’t really like the first book, but the second and third more than makes up for it. MC is just such a badass and the ANGST, the angst is god-tier in Bloodbound.
Honorable mentions:
A Courtesan of Rome (Every single romance route HIT in ACOR except Cassius)
Desire and Decorum (I’m a Jane Austen fan, what can I say)
Ride or Die (Cars. That’s it. Cars)
The Heist: Monaco (Sonia my love <333)
#can you tell that I’m a fantasy enjoyer?? I bet you can’t#endless summer#blades of light and shadow#crimes of passion#the elementalists#bloodbound#playchoices#playchoices bolas#playchoices es#playchoices te#playchoices bb#playchoices cop#playchoices acor#the heist: monaco#desire and decorum#ride or die

If ACOR had gotten two books as originally planned (something I only learned after checking out your blog omg), how do you think that would've changed the story, and how would you have wanted the story to go (even if it was just in terms of pacing for example)? I really like it and I think it's one of the better written Choices books but I can't help but feel that the last few chapters from after the hiatus were a little rushed (+ the timeline overall is kind of confusing even if the story is strong - I studied Roman history in school and I remember thinking "didn't these events take place over several years irl, did ACOR really condense them into just a single year?")
I love this ask!!!
So I am pretty sure ACOR was supposed to be 18 chapters + a second book, instead the hiatus happened after chapter 17 (my guess is that the original book finale had to be scrapped because it didn’t make a sense as a launching point for the finale chapters). I think the plot stayed intact, just super accelerated, so it lost some of the impact.
My guess is that book 1 would have ended with Caesar returning to Rome and the reveal about Ciginerix being alive and being one of his guards. It would have fit the narrative path of the book and would have been a huge cliffhanger to set up the second book. It also would have had book 1 be pre-Caesar and book 2 be post-Caesar.
I think book 2 would have seen us spy on Caesar and seduce him, but over several chapters, not just one and I think we would have gotten to romance Cleopatra. We would still have tried to poison him and failed, but again not after one chapter which made it seem rushed and dumb. I think we would have had more of a story with Ciginerix instead of just one diamond scene to covert him to our side or not.
So, I think the finale chapters covered everything that book 2 would have, it just had to condense in and speed it all up and I think some things would have hit differently/better over 18 chapters instead of 4.
(And yes the actual timeline makes no sense, it condenses 7 years of history into about a 1.5 years).

What are your Stranger Things 2024 predictions? Not like "What do you think will happen in ST?" NO. I'm talking: What do you think will be leaked this year? What drama do you think will take place? What rumors do you think will end up being true? What promo do you think we will get? Any scandals? Will the show/actors win awards? If so what awards or acors? I want hot tea predictions.
Sincerely, Prediction anon
ohohoho okay, now that's actually a good question
we'll definitely get some official table read content really soon, which the official twt account has confirmed. it's just kind of likely imo that we'll get those sometime this year because filming is already supposed to start in january if the most recent leaks are true
what's basically guaranteed to start with filming is softcore production teasers by the cast right off the bat. so basic, "back to shooting" instagram posts/stories, generally being on a set, getting make up done, hanging out with co-actors, and so on. we might also see some costuming/hair there, but it might also take a few months before we see concrete looks. also possible that we'll see a costume early on but then it never ends up being in the show because the picture was from fitting and the look didn't make the cut
but none of that will be too wild imo. i mean, i want to see the costuming but that's probably going to be all we'll really get, especially as 2024 starts
and in usual production fashion we'll probably also get typical teasers of things we already know will be relevant for s5 just to remind people of what's going on with the show, like "ooo Vecna ooooo". classic still shooting promo like that. but probably nothing really plot revealing
but that's all really basic. the thing i could see be the most interesting about official teasers in the early months of filming is getting a glimpse of the vibe s5 will have. like if we see more military props in a picture, how does the UD look, if someone posts a pic of like a destroyed house and so on
but yk, official teasers will hold back a lot. they'll get more interesting later on for sure but that's also where it's kind of hard to predict what they'll go for. like how they started with their evil grandfather clock teaser for s4. honestly i could see them continue that since they didn't actually answer any questions about the grandfather clock... i can also see them lean more into the "Hawkins will fall" line of s4. they emphasized it so much in the show and even in all the s4 trailers only for s4 to only be the set up for it. so in my opinion they'll go there again fr this time, now that they finally finished the build up to it (s4) and got to payoff (s5)
the most interesting will for sure be the unofficial leaks but those will also be the messiest. because pictures are always without context and text "leaks" are almost always fake, or at the very least (like, only 1% of leaks isn't fake honestly) missing context and facts
similar to how there were "photo leaks" pre s4, that had people going crazy but gave away nothing. like the byler cabin leak pic for example that i think had people think that would be a confession scene? only for it to end up being the s4 cliffhanger spores leadup and some people ended up being disappointed
and something like that will happen again for sure, 100%. like getting two characters in a leak photo and people make up their own theory on what will happen in that scene. and then it's something entirely different in s5 and those people will be mad. lmao. could happen with byler, mleven, something platonic. basically anytime we'll get a bts leak i'm guaranteeing there will be people who think it tells them what happens in s5 and it will be unbearable to wait an entire year with people around who are convinced they managed to predict an entire plot point by a still image of two actors looking at each other where we don't even know if they're in or out of character. it will happen and it's one of the worst parts of any movie/show fandom during production imo (not speculating about possibilities the pics give us tho, speculating is fun)
also the text leaks will be insane (bad). like usual, we'll get more and more as filming goes on, and all of them minus two credible sources will have the "i know someone who works on the show trust me" backing. so we'll get at leat 20 versions of "mleven is endgame and has two kids <333333", maybe 10ish versions of it with byler endgame. and that also goes for the supernatural plot. someone will say Vecna dies, someone says orderly Henry shows up and stabs El, the upside down starts spinning in circles, there's a dragon, no there's a demogoron but it's two stories tall, the school gets blown up, Steve trips and dies from hitting his nose on the ground etc. it'll be the wild west basically. also i'm expecting multiple "this character dies" leaks too, going into s5 the entire cast will be dead essentially. (most likely for this are probably Will. duh. reddit seems to Really want that guy dead. El -> sacrifices her for everyone else's sake. and Mike, which i unironically think is going to come from a) mleven hardcore believers who'll say he sacrifices himself for El b) "byler shippers" who actually only like Will and think he's too good for Mike, and c) people who just hate Mike and pick him for their "x character dies" leak since they'd like that, and we'll be left to guess which of these the original leaker is)
basically, March-ish to s5 release will be hell on earth because you'll have the people who have no experience with show production periods fall for every "leak" and be in a constant "we won" "we lost" cycle. not fun. unless your dash is normal which i'm recommending you take care of before you get the first people crying over a "my cousin who does the lights says he saw Matt Duffer say they'll kill El :((((((" leak on your dash, lmao
and tbh that'll definitely get worse once we actually get semi reliable leaks like we had for s4. because some things always end up being the opposite of what the leakers make it sound like. either due to lack of info on their part or personal bias. like how there was a leak about about the s4 sbp scene "mike confesses his love to el", and then we got.... that monologue, which was the opposite of the "cute" moment the leak described and made everyone and their mom hate the ship
funniest leak in that regard imo would honestly be a "scene of Mike and El talking about their feelings for each other <3" and then it ends up being a breakup. is that likely?.... honestly i can see that, that's exactly the way that would end up being telephoned to us in a leak😭
also i'm expecting the UD lore to get SO confusing next year. because someone will "leak" something that's entirely nonsensical. like "demodogs die when you shine a light on them", but then it ends up turning out the "light" is a blowtorch in s5 and we won't know until it releases
tbh what i'm most excited about leak wise is, yeah sure a) the costuming/outfits. that's always interesting and leaks will be the place we'll see the most of that. but more so b) actor combinations in different shooting locations. which will absolutely fan the s5 plot speculation flames. like with how there were set leaks during s4 about Steve/Robin/Max/Dustin at family video and so on (i think that's the department we're going to get the craziest theories from as well. like for example, if we got leaks of Jamie ever shooting out of studio with other actors, that would open the floodgates to speculation. honestly kind of want that. let him show up in some vision, or put his ass out in the open in the UD, i want people go crazy over speculating about the s5 vecna interactions. and same obviously goes for the relationship department, bc bts leaks usually tend to spoil either season group ups or at least a shared scene between characters. and i want to know the s5 group ups SO bad)
and tbh, i don't really know/care what the actors will do. i can only see them get awards post s5 in 2025 unless they're doing other projects on the side. same for scandal wise, i'm Assuming there won't be anything (said with a raised eyebrow and a frown), given that they all act normal, especially given they'll be busy actively filming and being instructed on promo posts etc
so my predictions would generally be:
regular socmed actor promo, mostly about bts of the actors hanging out (non work things), some costuming bts etc
i think they'll probably lean into the "hawkins will fall" slogan of s4, and i can see them carry the grandfather clock motif on as well when they start more official promo/teasers
also reminders of things that will be important in s5 semi frequently as well. like "remember when will went to the UD" and "remember how Steve and Jonathan both have feelings for Nancy" and so on
with the filming being exclusively in atlanta again i can also see set leaks getting more interesting again than they were for s4. like how they covered the irl trailer park with vines for the s4 UD. especially with things like the giant downtown replica set for s5 there's a lot of potential for us to see Something happen there. i can see them deck that prop out for the UD, or make it a "destroyed" version of downtown. etc
and obviously a shit ton of things that are baseless or straight up lies. a million mleven is canon vs byler is real ross duffer told me leaks. a shitton of leaks of A interacts with B and then it never happens. all the classic "source? i made it up" leaks that spring up around popular shows. hell on earth. i'm excited btw

yeah I know it's long, and I didn't go to England yet, just exploring the first area, doing points of interest, etc. I did meet Basim and the other guys already, and the game implies that the first boss is a Templar. so like, does Assasins VS Templars line run through the game or is that mentioned only ones?
ACOr was, well, origins, so technically not about the Order too. ACOd was not about the orders specifically, only by players' understanding (although I did enjoy the modern life sequence, for the fact that it made me very nostalgic for Desmond). but even though ACor took time to gain its tempo and ACOd was spread too far, both still felt like... like something whole? Like a game with purpose and atmosphere. ACV on the other hand feels extemely hollow.
so yeah I'm wondering if ACV will actually pick up that tempo and feel like a cohesive world with cohesive storyline, or does it. always feel like cold world you go from one marker to the other
I waited to play it for a long time, and I didn't expect to be wowed but damn, I'm sad
(also one small thing, I was lowkey pissed at how Eivor got the hidden blade because since when it's given away to strangers, rude ones about it as well, without any honor to the creed. Edward stealing his garb and blade from the corpse is less insulting to me lol)
there's like nothing to do in norway i only go there to hunt. ummmm let's see most of the 'targets' are just like the holders of the land you want to steal as vikings. Sometimes they're connected to the order sometimes not. Origins was just about the order like the founding of the templars and assassins at the same time. But i'm biased I think it's flat out the best game in the whole series.
Valhalla has a sprawling world where it doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing. Travel is annoying and slow and you should get all the fast travel soon as you can. It's not a cohesive game cause there is no point to the game. Literally like you just checking areas off the map they made Farcry but vikings. I don't remember most of the plot. You sort of just run up and down England killing anyone you think is in your way to getting the alliances you want to upgrade your camp. The most relevant point to AC is the epilogue of the main story. Eivor has nothing to do with it. And the final boss is technically apart of the order but um... you'll see if you ever bother to get there. Eivor has no interest in the creed and if the blade thing bothered you well good luck charlie.
You are playing a game where the MC happened to meet a couple assassins on the journey to settle in england and that's the whole of it.

Conheça as Estatísticas e Dados Relevantes
Avalie as Probabilidades

I’m replaying ACOR and decided to finally try a different play through (when I play I always have a hard time not romancing Marc Antony and end up picking all the positive choices regarding him) so I bought the extra Cassius scenes that I haven’t played but still romancing MA to manipulate him. My endgame would be Cassius. I thought I had enough wiles but this is the first time I ever had MA turn against me when the MC is making a deal with him in Ch 17 and he asks if there’s another. I wasn’t expecting it! Lol I was so surprise :o
Honestly it is hard. I had it happen in my Brighid (Cassius MC) playthrough. I had never not had enough wiles before that, even when doing Cassius scenes (as I usually do with Portia). I am not sure what either of us did wrong!
It was actually kind of fun to play that way though. Brighid lost his favor, won it back at the prison, had hate sex with him and then ended up with Cassius.

Thanks so much for the response!
The story would work better if MC was in high school. I understand that they wanted to write smut, and that's why they couldn't do it. But narratively, 'My parental figure doesn't approve of my crush' is 1) very juvenile 2) works better when the parental figure actually has legal power and authority over MC. But when MC is a 20 something adult it's like. Girl (gn) you can do whatever you want, what's Austin gonna do about it? Get mad?
You are so right actually. I mean, if Austin was significantly older than MC by maybe 10-15 years then I could buy this sort of behavior with a 20s-something MC. I don't think they confirm Austin's age in the story, but it doesn't feel like there's much of an age difference, so it just makes Austin's behaviors and feelings seem really hard to buy.
Austin and MC’s relationship should've been a bigger focus since it's essentially the main conflict of the book. Specifically I wish we saw more of Austin's loving side, saw how much he did for MC and grown to care about him the way MC does. That's another reason to set the story earlier too. That way we could've seen more of the aftermath of their parents dying, MC relying on Austin more as their caregiver and their only living relative and him fighting tooth and nail to protect his sibling. Without that emotional investment Austin is just some asshole, and it's really unclear as to why I as a reader should care about hurting his feelings.
Exactly! They try to push this whole background with Austin and MC but they don't commit to it. Something like ACOR and ILITW MCs' backgrounds work because they're set up through various flashbacks that actually give us a feel for the traumatic events, the relationships MC has with their given friends/family, all of which is the crux of their respective stories. MC and Austin's parents dying is said to be an important part of the story, but they don't treat it as such.
Kit should've been more problematic. I agree with your point about how them being a player is stated but never really shown. I guess they were too afraid to make them unlikeable,
I mean PB had no problem making Reagan from Surrender a predatory creep, what's stopping them from making a LI who's a player lol. I didn't like RWB but at least they showed Drew being an actual player to some extent.
but you have to give Austin a legitimate reason to be against their relationship with MC. Give them and Austin a sour past. Or make them wear a leather jacket. Just something that would scream 'trouble' to an overprotective older brother.
Just goes to show how PB really shot themselves in the foot with Austin. They don't give him any real well-established reasons for his behavior and it just makes him seem painfully one-note and useless. Like, just throw the whole dude out, MC.
Finally, the resolution of the whole Austin and MC's conflict felt a little too... easy to me? I wish MC could call out the problematic side of Austin's behaviour more overtly, Austin reflect and meaningfully change, and them both come together as a family again.
I didn't think much of the ending cause I was just glad for Austin to shut the fuck up about MC and Kit, but looking back on it I definitely think MC let him off too easy.
As for Unbridled, I think it's pretty obvious what they were trying to do. They saw UT was successful, so they wanted to capture that audience again with a sequel. But UT had no more story to tell, hence the spin-off. So to answer your question, the connection between UB and UT is literally just smut+cowboys+grumpy ML. Mandy is literally only there to tie these books together so that they can market it under the same brand and (hopefully) pull in the same audience again. Which make it doubly funny that UT fans seem to hate UB and vice versa.
That sounds about right. I'll give them this, they did at least switch the casts because the first installment objectively had no more story to tell by the end. Unlike a certain other spinoff on Choices, but that's a discussion for a different day
Maybe they did plan to make UB about Mandy and Austin initially and then back paddled when they saw that a lot of people didn't really like Austin all that much? It's kind of a conspiracy theory, but it is funny to think about.
I also just remembered the end message saying the next book would be about a new but "familiar" couple", so... yeah, chances are, something involving Austin and Mandy in a relationship was the original plan, but PB backtracked when they realized that no one liked Austin.
It does make the entire Austin and Mandy plot line in UT essentially irrelevant, which is objectively not very good writing. But I didn't like Austin, so I'll take it.
I remember only one or two scenes at the end where PB tried to tease them as a couple, so that might have been a determining factor as to why they might remove Austin from the spinoff. But it does still make the bridge feel very sloppy. Like, at least mention Austin being an ex-crush or something? Like "Oh I used to like this guy Austin but he was kind of a piece of shit to his brother who is also my best friend".
Chiming into the UT/UB discussion with my two cents.
The reason I didn't like UT is because its whole conflict felt so very artificial. They push these ideas, but the story gives me no reason to believe them.
The story tries to push MC and Kit's relationship as a forbidden romance, but the only thing that makes it forbidden is that Austin will throw a temper tantrum when he finds out about MC and Kit. As trashy as affair books like TNA, FCL, and TBB are, at least the MC and LIs' relationships actually feel forbidden.
They try to say MC and Kit's relationship affects the ranch, but the story gave me no reason to believe that.
They try to push Kit as a heartbreaker and a player, hence Austin trying to "protect" MC from them, but all we ever get is two scenes of fangirls/fanboys flocking around Kit, with Kit being totally unresponsive (on that note, I personally found Kit to be textbook definition of a personality-less customizable LI).
They try to give MC and Austin this backstory about their parents passing away when they were young, hence Austin's overprotectiveness and infantilization of MC, but it felt very poorly set up compared to MC backstories/traumas like the ones in ACOR and ILITW. They just kind of throw the background details at you and expect you to roll with it. Also, was MC being set with having a business major even all that important?
Heck, it didn't even feel all that sexually charged to me outside of the CGs, despite being a "17+ sexy" book. I generally hate PB's style of smut writing but at least books like TNA and Surrender and Witness are interesting in that their smut is fun to mock. UT just had me either bored out of my mind or frustratedly yelling at my phone.
There's also a point that a lot of people have brought up, where the whole "older brother protects younger sibling from their player friend" is supposedly meant for wlm and doesn't make sense otherwise. In a mlw route, that attitude would come off as slut-shamey; and in a mlm or wlw route, it'd come off as homophobic. These can be interesting concepts to explore, but the story doesn't acknowledge them. Though I'm not fully sure how I feel about that aspect, so do with it what you will. Though even as someone who likes to see gender-reversals of typical cisheteronormative relationship tropes (hence why I generally play GOC LI stories with a mlw route when I can), this book still felt incredibly flat to me.
Now I haven't started UB yet, but I do think that part of what appeals to me is Mandy being a LI. And not just in the aspect of having two non-GOC LIs. Despite Mandy veering dangerously close into the stereotypical "girly girl talk best friend that only exists to validate your feelings for LI and be your walking wardrobe" back in UT, she was actually the only prominent character I found remotely likeable. Like, the only one I felt was able to bring some degree of common sense to the table while Austin was acting like Caillou over MC and Kit's relationship.
So seeing her return as a LI is pretty awesome. Buuuuuuut like someone else said, it is weird that they did this despite hinting towards Mandy/Austin at the end of UT. Like, why not a throuple relationship between MC and Mandy and Austin? I mean, as much as I hated Austin, that still would have been pretty interesting.
One last thing I will say though. Outside of Mandy... I'm not sure what connection UB and UT are even meant to have with each other. IIRC, PB even admitted that they couldn't be bothered to include the option to transfer data from UT to UB, hence why people were getting Kits and MCs in UB that didn't match the ones they chose. I'm gonna hazard a guess that even HSS:CA has more to do with OG HSS than UB has to do with UT. Not that UT had a lot going for it anyways, but you get the idea.
Sorry for the long post, but yeah these are pretty much my thoughts.
I somewhat agree. I think that UT conflict works in theory, but there are a bunch of issues with the book's implementation that make it hard for some readers to feel invested and even plot points that seem to work against it, thus lowering the stakes. I'll try to keep it as short as possible, but here are my thoughts:
The story would work better if MC was in high school. I understand that they wanted to write smut, and that's why they couldn't do it. But narratively, 'My parental figure doesn't approve of my crush' is 1) very juvenile 2) works better when the parental figure actually has legal power and authority over MC. But when MC is a 20 something adult it's like. Girl (gn) you can do whatever you want, what's Austin gonna do about it? Get mad?
Austin and MC’s relationship should've been a bigger focus since it's essentially the main conflict of the book. Specifically I wish we saw more of Austin's loving side, saw how much he did for MC and grown to care about him the way MC does. That's another reason to set the story earlier too. That way we could've seen more of the aftermath of their parents dying, MC relying on Austin more as their caregiver and their only living relative and him fighting tooth and nail to protect his sibling. Without that emotional investment Austin is just some asshole, and it's really unclear as to why I as a reader should care about hurting his feelings.

(Typing this all out, I now honestly want a retelling of UT with highschooler MC, which is set shortly after their parent's death and centers largely around MC's relationship with Austin and his struggle to keep custody of their sibling without letting the family ranch completely fall apart.)
As for Unbridled, I think it's pretty obvious what they were trying to do. They saw UT was successful, so they wanted to capture that audience again with a sequel.
