lmt review: the tracks are good but the lore... i just don't think i like enough of the characters to want to read it. which is a shame because i'm kind of for some of the themes going on in there

genuinely my one intensely burning desire for the new contestant 08 is that it's a woman fucking please can it be a woman like thanks to susan the rewrite/cast as a whole hasn't actually suffered a net loss in women but if korone ends up being the only woman in the roster i am going to be. so tired

going to quote a little bit from what i said in the final comments of the 08 decision form in order to do some speculation: as of both "iterations" of the canon mozart went through a particular run in bracket, faced certain people… i think unless the lore itself is going to feature some kind of retcon where kirby goes back in time to go through the same run mozart did, it's hard to imagine mozart seamlessly being given demo's place. which would beg the question of who's in demo's position during this initial timeline, post (irl) rewrites/retcons, because even in this "timeline 1" someone needs to be having matches with you & ouroboros & all them. would it be some kind of runner-up newcomer from the replacement polling, a la the plan if jake won the mozart replacement poll? in other words, basically making as much new lore as there would be if demo's replacement really was someone new? i guess you could abbreviate it if it's going to be retconned anyway, and then give the "timeline 2" lore all the attention, so that the 08 position's opponents get their due.

immediate prediction: lr2 can go a few different ways. based on the fact that the wr1 members were last seen headed straight to the true lab for gr1 duals, either a. there's a time dilation of some kind they already did or are going to experience that lets all of lr2 play out before they get there, b. lr2 was happening almost concurrently with wr2, giving the drop-downs a pretty rough time of things i'd imagine, or c. the wr1 contestants are going to land in the true lab a while before gr1 and just kind of hang out until lr2 is completed

inspired by musings on what it takes to introduce mashup tourneys to friends who are completely unfamiliar with the scene, the official DOATK rpf scale is as follows:

definitely RPF: alphagenos (alpharad & papagenos), dubious duo (ninja & mrbeast), donald trump, guptill89, adam conover*, toby fox (& toby dog)

debatably RPF: inugami korone [technically a character separate from the real person, but pretty much all of her ‘characterization’ originates from her actor], demonickraken [he’s not of popular status like any of the other real people, but her appearance here is based off of a 'sona’ & comes with a degree of consent], edmund mcmillen [the likeness is interpreted directly from reality, but his dialog is taken from prewritten rather than fanmade material], mozart [other than some physical aspects and the name he can hardly be said to resemble the real guy, & that’s intentional], you [their position as a sort of self-insert of the audience as a whole makes decisions about their character a little iffy], jake [someone from a commercial is allowed to be considered a fictional character- see professional wrestling kayfabe], the eiffel tower [real, yeah, but not a person]

definitely not RPF: kebin & ian, hamood habibi, evil morty

the list as a whole is loosely ordered in descending order of realness, with the most 'definitely real persons’ topwards *completely disregarding roommate for the sake of this list, because the quality of rpf does not change whether it’s rpf or not

my current take on the rewrite is that it could & should be a fantastic resource for newcomers/the project's general longevity. it Can be. assuming things get ported into individual documents- and hopefully those documents get mirrored either in the track descriptions on soundcloud (somehow, i swear that's ideal) or another website, so long as it's somewhere that nulls the discord barrier -because otherwise the problem remains of a person having to open Two Separate lore channels, scroll/leap to their very tops, and somehow coordinate scrolling through them perfectly in order to properly archive binge
