the thing w talking about which transformers in MTMTE are LGBT is that by human standards the answer is prolly 'all of them'? like it's textually the case that they've only had contact with masc-presenting he/him transformers for millions of years so sexual orientation is presumably a matter of 'yes please' or 'no thank you' so in human terms they're all either gay or ace
which means from an in universe perspective the answer is potentially 'none of them' bcos being into other guy transformers is socially normal (like. they marry each other.) and there's no indication that not being attracted to anyone isn't socially normal
i suppose it's possible that there might be guy transformers who are exclusively attracted to girl transformers (presumably thought they were attracted to no-one prior to Dark Cybertron fdgkhfdgkj) but no indication of that in canon
gender is a separate matter bcos Arcee is trans which is not socially normal but for different reasons than on earth (former oppressive government made being a woman illegal)

So i headcanon that Bee used to be a bartender and knows how to make alcoholic drinks and whatnot. I also headcanon Optimus likes to bake in his spare time.
I can imagine them having a dedicated time to cook together, Optimus making all sorts of tasty dishes while Bee takes care of dressings, fillings and anything in liquid form that needs to go along with the dish. They have Cooking Tuesdays where they both just cook together from the morning and wake up everyone to have a nice breakfast together. This is one of the only times where Bee and Op get along without any troubles, they're just enjoying their hobbies together.
I can imagine a situation where Bee is doing something in the kitchen and asks Prowl who happened to be nearby to hand him a glass.... Optimus decided to check out the noise coming from the fuel nook and found Bee and Prowl arguing yet again. He tried to diffuse the situation but Bee didn't let it go and forced Prowl to demonstrate what he did that made the argument happen. Prowl picked up the glass from the top by the edges and handed it to Bee. Optimus just stared at him and facepalmed. Prowl thought he was right and Bee was being difficult again but he didn't expect getting a whole 5 minute explanation from Optimus of why he shouldn't grab a glass like that...
One time Bee made synthetic vapor fluid (cybertronian wine) for their first new years on earth, that's also how they discovered he used to be a bartender. Synthetic beverages are slightly weaker in effect than the processed ones from Cybertron but they're much tastier if you know how to brew them.
Knowing that Bee can brew his own high grade, Optimus decided to look into some recipes that require alcohol as ingredient. When Bee was walking by he quietly called him over and into his room. It was a bit suspicious seeing Bossbot so careful so no one will overhear but then Bee heard his request.
Around the time that the thing was brewing Ratchet decided to fix some things in the ventilation systems and was running them on all settings one by one. He was talking about the fixes when they all heard glass exploding. Bee, who just walked in, went to check it out and it wasn't ten seconds before they heard him yell in panic.
The brewing vat hidden in the storage combusted, liquid was spilling everywhere and shards of glass and ripped metal littered the floor. Bee stood there, spark feeling crushed while looking at the mess... "My brewing vat..."
"Did it combust?" Bulkhead entered the room along with the rest of the team. Optimus was by the door, feeling stressed if the reason for it was his request. "It wasn't supposed to!" Bee knelt down to inspect the crime scene, frantically looking over what was remaining and trying to understand what went wrong... "There's no way i did it wrong... I had it all calculated; conditions, pressure, time to brew- it was all-... wait a minute" He stopped, suddenly feeling something off about the area the vat stood. He put his servo out, feeling the air... it was warm. He stood up and traced the temperature to the close wall covered with cloth and put it up- there was a vent grate. He put his servo against it... "...Why is the ventilation running?" His tone cold and one could tell he was mad. All optics went on Ratchet.
"Didn't you say you were doing repairs on the AC, Ratchet?" Prowl spoke up, "Yeah you did say so earlier." Bulkhead added. Bee stood up and his his faceplate in his servos. Ratchet then knew he was the one that messed up, "Kid, I am so s-" he tried to apologise but got cut off by Bee speaking up. "Do you know... how long it toOK ME... TO BUILD THIS DAMN THING?!" Bee's tone changing from calm to enraged as he turned to face the medic, steam going out of his own vents in anger. " WEEKS OF PLANNING AND CALCULATION WENT INTO THIS!! I HAD TO COMMISION SPECIFIC PARTS FOR IT- DO YOU KNOW HOW EXPENSIVE CUSTOM ORDERS ARE?!!"
Ratchet tried to apologize but Bee just kept ripping him a new one. "You didn't know what!? You were doing fixes on a GIANT SYSTEM that runs thru the ENTIRE BASE and you didn't even bother to check if there's any thing close to the grates that could get damages by TEMPERATURE CHANGES?! WHAT KIND OF MECHANIC ARE YOU?!"
Bee kept going off, the thing couldn't be repaired in the state, Ratchet felt awful, he knew he had the tendency to brush the issues onto others but this time he really screwed up. Sari had to be taken away from the scene cuz the fumes coming from the mixture made her feel ill. Ratchet kept his word and helped Bee build a new vat and put it in a safe location. The previous vat had an air release tube put into the vents to regulate pressure but since the vents were running it all got pushed back inside and caused the thing to combust, Ratchet took that into account when they were installing it in the new place. Bee also made Ratchet pay back Optimus for all the ingredients in the vat- "Who do you think I was brewing the stuff for? It was a very expensive kind of vapor fluid, and the ingredients weren't easy to come by." Optimus wasn't expecting that from Bee but he never said a word. Only after everything was settled and fixed Bee forgave Ratchet. "Well, I suppose you earned your forgiveness... and a lesson for the future." Ratchet couldn't be mad at him though, he only sighed and agreed. "Once again, I'm sorry, I will be more careful from now on.". It was kind of ironic that Bee was teaching Ratchet a lesson about consequences of his actions for once.

Heeeyyyyy~ it’s a me again, so just watched the Transformers one movie, and it got me thinking of what would happen if Yuu was a cybertronian/Transformer? Like alien robot that Can transform into a vehicle isekaied to a magic School? Imagine the fun! the chaos! They can pick up the overblot students and put them in air jail like a misbehaving cat! Ortho finally has a bestie!!!!
Sure thing, ask and you shall receive
𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐅 𝐘𝐔𝐔 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐂𝐘𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐀𝐍 👾🤖
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cybertronians are a species of autonomous robotic organisms originating from the distant planet called Cybertron that had their essences transferred into robotic bodies known as "Transformers".
Cybertronian!Yuu one of by far most unique students ever, they tower over most of the students. By cybertronian!yuu has received some modification in twst that helps them fit in the world more.
They can partially transform parts of their body into mechanical tools, like shields, scanners, or even small weaponry. This ability has led to some interesting duels in combat class, where they improvises with forms no one expects.
Cybertronian!Yuu sees magic as something like a digital matrix, with each spell having its own “source code.” While they may struggle with traditional spellcasting, Cybertronian Yuu can often rewrite spells or make unique modifications, leading to unexpected effects. This adaptability often puts them at odds with teachers, yet impresses friends like Ace and Deuce.
Cybertronian!Yuu can store and retrieve a ton of information like a living database, sometimes glitching and blurting out random trivia. Ace and Deuce find it hilarious, but it occasionally becomes handy, especially during exams.
Do you know the meme of the song I woke up in a new Bugatti, that's the first year riding on cybertronian!yuu on their transformation form. They have become their friends chauffeur around school pretty much everywhere.
Ortho + Cybertronian!Yuu : robot besties.
NRC tend to call them both a “tech wiz.” They often exchange “upgrades” and tech secrets, and Ortho even helps Cybertronian!Yuu unlock hidden Cybertronian features that they were previously unaware of. They’re like the school’s tech-savvy duo, making Idia’s life easier and sometimes scaring him with their synchronized techno-speak.
Cybertronian! Yuu has an “echo mode” that lets them record and replay sounds, which Rook finds utterly fascinating for tracking creatures or investigating mysteries. Sometimes, they use it to replay people’s voices, teasing Ace or copying Riddle’s strict tone. Grim once caught them imitating the Headmage and nearly exposed them!
Their system has an auto-translate function for languages, magical runes, and even animal sounds, making them NRC’s unofficial interpreter. This skill shines with Sebek, who tries to one-up them in translating ancient text, and with Kalim, who loves hearing animal translations from the Spirit of the Dunes.
Inspired by Pomefiore’s focus on beauty, they develop a “glamour mode” that projects holographic outfits, allowing them to “try on” new looks with a simple transformation. Rook and Vil are fascinated by their ability to shift appearances at will, and Vil even pushes them to “update” their glamour mode regularly to keep up with fashion trends.
Cybertronian!yuu is very curious about the world around them, since originally back in Cybertron there wasn't any organic like plant-life. You can find them being curious and browsing things that find them interesting.
When seriously damaged, cybertronian!Yuu has an auto-repair protocol that initiates a regeneration process. This usually involves a “recharging stasis” where they power down for a few hours to restore internal systems by transforming into a metal box to repair any damages coming to their body and database.
They also have the ability to heck or connect themselves into different technologies, they can see through the technology database as well copying the abilities of the technology.
They discovers they can use holo-projections to mimic voices and create illusions. With Ace and Grim, Yuu pulls harmless pranks like projecting an image of Crowley, scaring students into thinking he’s around.
During battles, cybertronian!yuu possessed a wide range of arsenal weapons. But one of their favorite styles of fighting is basically running over the enemies in their transformation form.
Imagine overblot Azul laughing and yapping about something, and the next thing he got hit by a vehicle as well putting their enemies in time out.

❕ This post contains spoilers for Transformers: ONE.
Transformers ONE edit
⤷ Plastique Noir - Catedrais em Chamas
This song matches with D-16 / Megatron's vision of everything that happened during the movie, including his relationship with Orion, Sentinel's betrayal, the new upcoming Cybertron in war era and the consequences of everyone's actions.
If you wanna know the translation and my whole ass rant about why I chose each scene for each part, everything is under the cut!
Again, this should be all interpreted in D-16 / Megatron's point of view.
[Millions in despair, I don't understand]
This phrase can be seen in two ways: Representing how he wants to destroy the Cybertron that Sentinel built, all that Sentinel ruled and owned, and Megatron doesn't understand why everyone got so desperate as he destroyed it all. In his vision, they should be grateful that he's destroying everything that someone as bad as Sentinel, the Betrayer, built and took care of. Megatron also doesn't understand how all Cybertronians, mostly the low-class who suffered the most, could follow Sentinel's system for so many years without noticing his antics and behavior.
[Putting your faith in the wrong guy]
Pretty self explanatory. Everyone on Cybertron trusted Sentinel "Prime", only to be betrayed by him. Once Megatron learned about the truth behind Sentinel, he got furious that he put so much faith in him.
[Talking about merit doesn't make sense]
This shows how Megatron would think that Orion Pax / Optimus Prime getting the Matrix of Leadership and speaking like he deserved it shouldn't make sense. D-16 wanted Orion by his side, he believed that Orion would join him to rule Cybertron, and then Optimus Prime appeared once he got the Matrix, leaving Megatron in disbelief.
[If a dark past creates an arid future]
This is about his view on Sentinel's situation in specific. How Sentinel killed all the Primes in the past, and how he's finally getting what he deserved. This would be his arid future, according to Megatron.
[I wish there was a tsunami over the cathedrals]
[The skies would be gained by dark smoke]
[It would also rain ashes]
The "cathedrals" here would be all those things that Sentinel once ruled, including the entirety of Cybertron. How Megatron wanted to destroy it all, to rule it all, to cause a revolution and be the one true leader. This is the beginning of everything, of a new era, a new revolutionary group called Decepticons.
[I wish there was a tsunami over the cathedrals]
[The weight of all the aces]
Now in this line, the cathedrals would be his relationship with Orion. A tsunami destroys everything, and D-16 / Megatron's actions destroyed absolutely everything they had, even if he never wanted it to end like that. Their bond being friendship or not, it's all over now. About the aces, ace cards either begin or end a match, depending on the game. In this case, Megatron is reflecting about the weight of ending everything he and Orion once had. The impact, the weight, the consequences, and how it would now change everyone's lives in the upcoming war.
This was fun to create, thank you if you read it this far! If it's not too much trouble, I highly encourage reblogging this post, I put a lot of thought on this edit lol. Again, thank you <33

Transformers One Theories Part 1: Sentinel Prime and how he gained power on Cybertron (Special Guests: Quintessons)
Hello, Transformers One has taken over my mind so I’ve been rewatching the trailers and reading some interviews/articles. One thing I’ve noticed is that the marketing for this movie is mainly focused on Orion Pax and D-16’s friendship and the tragedy of their eventual fallout. However, there is little information on Sentinel Prime and the role he plays in the movie. Since I’m delusional, I came up with these crazy theories about Sentinel Prime, specifically on how he’s the villain in this story.
Before we get into my theories, here is some extra information that I’ll be referring to when explaining:
What We Know (trailers, interviews/articles, TV spots already released)- be warned, potential spoilers from articles/interviews released in Summer 2024
FYI- I will include screenshots from both trailers, so they should be images you've already seen- so no unexpected images.
In an IndieWire interview, the film was described as an “epic story about the rise of two leaders… including the start of a revolution, a years-long conspiracy and war with other aliens…”
In an interview with Josh Cooley ( aka the director), he says that he “embraced the chance to explore.. political corruption, revolution, and war”
Cybertron is currently undergoing an Energon crisis/drought (from other interviews)
There was another conflict, which involved the Primes, that occurred before the events of the movie- at the SDCC panel, they showed a clip of Sentinel Prime giving a speech about a past battle that killed all of the Primes and some veterans.
Source Material (?)
Cooley also mentioned in an interview (and at the SDCC panel) that Hasbro gave him a “bible” of Transformers lore
In a different interview, he also said that in the original story for the movie, Megatron was a gladiator. In fact, there were gladiatorial fight scenes planned, but were eventually cut out.
In addition, he and Orion Pax originally came from very different social backgrounds.
Does that sound familiar? (It should)
The “bible” of Transformers lore with D-16 as a gladiator and Orion Pax from a different social background would be the “Binder of Revelation”- which is what the Aligned Continuity (WOC games, TFP, Rescue Bots) is based on.
I’ll be referring to the Aligned Continuity as “AC” from now on. Yes, I know it sounds like air-conditioning, deal with it.
Therefore, I’ll also be talking about AC Sentinel Prime, as I believe that TFO Sentinel is heavily based on that version.
In the AC, Cybertronians initially did not know how to transform, but everyone was born with a dormant T-cog.
The Quintessons showed up later, pretending to be emissaries who wanted Cybertron to join the galactic community. They pretended to magically give the Cybertronians T-cogs and the ability to transform (they were activating the dormant T-cog). As a result, they were welcomed on Cybertron and gained public support from its inhabitants.
Afterward, they set up a global puppet government ruled by Sentinel Zeta Prime and a small council of Cybertronians. They also established the social caste system where one’s alt mode determined their role in society.
However, their facade was uncovered when a few individuals found out about their plan to sell Cybertronians.
Sentinel Prime led a rebellion that kicked the Quintessons out of Cybertron.
Afterward, Sentinel stayed as the leader of Cybertron and continued to enforce the caste system- making it the absolute way of life on Cybertron- which would later become one of the reasons for the start of the Great War.
(Taken from TF Wiki)
Now.. finally- my theories
THEORIES
Sentinel Prime is business partners with the Quintessons (sort of?)
The first trailer shows some Quintessons arriving on the surface of Cybertron. Later shots show Sentinel Prime landing in front of one of the ships. In the background, there are also two trains,Airachnid, and some Vehicon-looking soldiers. It seems that they were expecting the Quintessons. They would have brought more soldiers and weapons if they were unexpected guests. Also, when one of the Quintessons grabs Sentinel, he seems distressed but makes no effort to escape. If it was an unexpected action, he may have reacted more violently. None of the soldiers in the background react to this too- meaning that this interaction isn't new. My main takeaway here is that Sentinel has interacted with the Quintessons before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In AC, the Quintessons secretly took over Cybertron and exploited its people and resources. What if they are doing something similar here? Some interviews said that an energon crisis/drought is happening on Cybertron, and Orion Pax and D-16 are energon miners working to help in this crisis. But what if there isn't a crisis going on? What if this is a cover-up for the truth that all of the energon is going to the Quintessons instead of the people?  The trains in the background came from below the planet where the mines are- so they may be carrying energon to give to the Quintessons. But is Sentinel willingly giving the energon to the Quintessons or is forced to? If he's doing this out of his own free will, then why?
Which brings me to the next theory….
Sentinel Prime was somehow involved with the demise of the original Primes
At the beginning of the second trailer, there appears to be a monument under attack (explosions and Cybertronians running away from it). Other shots of the trailer show that this monument has the Matrix of Leadership and figures (at least 7) engraved in it. This is most likely a monument for the original Primes (and current) because other shots show statues of Sentinel Prime-they are blue and gold and have wings - surrounding it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As mentioned previously- before the Iacon 5000- Sentinel gives a speech about the Primes and how they perished in battle. Based on the giant monument and Sentinel’s speech, it’s safe that the Primes are well known and are considered important figures- perhaps heroes- on Cybertron.
BUT- the first trailer shows the bodies of the Primes in a cave, where they are covered in vegetation- as if they were abandoned. If the Primes are considered important, heroic beings, why were their bodies left on the surface of Cybertron? Why were they not taken back to Iacon to be given a proper funeral?
Tumblr media
….. Something is fishy here.
Like I said- this is a crazy theory, but I think Sentinel was responsible for the demise of the original Primes. Sentinel giving a speech about the Primes and the event/battle of their deaths suggests that he knows HOW they died.  The fact that a battle is mentioned indicates a war or conflict before the events of TFO. This lines up with what another interview said- that the movie would include wars with other aliens.
These two pieces of information make me believe that before the movie's events, there was a war between Cybertronians (specifically the Primes) and Quintessons, who were invading the planet. To support that- in a shot with Orion Pax, D-16, and Bumblebee looking at Alpha Trion's recording, Alpha Trion is holding a blaster- he's directly involved in combat.
Tumblr media
As said before, in AC, Sentinel was installed as the leader of a puppet government controlled by the Quintessons. But instead of being installed as leader directly by the Quintessons, he probably became leader in a different way in TFO.
Sentinel may have been under the direct command of the Primes or was one himself. Tying back to the first theory-  I think he made a deal with the Quintessons. He betrayed the Primes- by leading them into a trap/battle where the Quintessons killed them (only Alpha Trion survived- somehow). In exchange for the Quintessons killing the Primes, which would allow him to become Cybertron's leader, he would give them the planet's energon. As a result, the Quintessons would have someone who would give them the resources (energon) they want.
Also- in the same clip with Orion Pax, D-16, etc.- Orion says that the recording is an SOS call- I betting this was sent when the Primes were overwhelmed by the Quintessons.  Since the call never made it through, someone-maybe Sentinel- blocked it or hid it until the main cast found it.
Overall, this would be a beneficial situation for both parties- Sentinel gets control/power over the planet, and the Quintessons get Energon without spending time and resources trying to conquer Cybertron. This may also explain why no one is allowed to go to the surface- they might see the Quintessons and discover the Primes’ bodies- and put into question Sentinel’s true loyalties.  There is supposedly a  “years-long conspiracy” involved in this movie, which may be referring to this- the Primes were murdered, and the Quintessons have control of the planet’s resources through Sentinel, who has been lying all these years about the fates of the Primes and where the Energon actually goes.
Summary of my theories:
Before the events of TFO, there was a war between Cybertronians and Quintessons, with the Primes defending Cybertron. Sentinel made a deal with the Quintessons. He betrayed the original Primes, allowing the Quintessons to kill them, thus giving him leadership over the planet. This benefits the Quintessons because they get a leader who willingly gives them the planet’s energon. To prevent the Cybertronian population from discovering Sentinel’s role in the Primes’ demise AND the Quintessons, they are not allowed to go to the surface under the assumption/lie that the surface is dangerous.
This would be a new twist on the events in the Aligned Continuity while also combining a few elements of other versions of Sentinel into one: the jerk from TFA, the betrayer from Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and the leader who only gained power through association with the Quintessons from AC.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rambling. I have no clue if both of my theories are straight up wrong or somewhat correct... but regardless there will be a part 2 of Sentinel Prime Theories coming later....

Concept art for Archange(l), Mihaly A. Shilage in Aces of Cybertron! His altmode is his final battle X-02 Strike Wyvern.
In the AU, he acts as Trigger’s friend and kind-of mentor (aka what I wanted out of AC7 to begin with). Fun fact: his wings can move 360 degrees because I also want to draw him with more Angel-looking ones.

Sfw and nsfw head cannons for tarn please? Reader or cannon don't really care.
Shoutout @starscreamscorpse for calling beloved Tarn ‘mista taint’
I (lovingly) hate tarn so please take this with a grain of salt
SFW:
- Tarn is a loner in all senses of the word. He doesn’t ask for help, not even Nickel. He trusted people before and that led to his empurata, and then his abandonment from the academy, now he simply directs his team without confiding in anyone except Decepticon high command.
- To tarn, being a Decepticon is a belief. I know we joke about him dick riding megatron (he does) but the Decepticon cause gave him purpose. It gave him someone to believe in, a support system even.
- Advocate for universal healthcare, most likely due to Nickel’s influence.
- Tarn actually likes to sing. Even as Damos! I imagine he sings by himself most days, and actually writes his own music. In his perfect world, maybe he’d be a prodigy and launch Cybertron into an age of art. But of course, his story is one of tragedy.
- Tarn is harsh on the DJD. He may be friendly but he has a short temper, and will easily snap at people he considers his ‘friends.’ He’s also highly critical, as we know he started putting Decepticons on the list for increasingly petty reasons near the end of it.
- He’s probably not as grossed out by us squishies as he tells himself. Although he agrees that transformers are better- he would begrudgingly ‘keep the fleshling alive’ if he was instructed to. Because his singing does not affect humans the same way it affects his own race, he would probably grow very fond of singing to them.
- Tarn’s the type to be creepy at first, but he’s just a lonely, hurt Mech on the inside. He takes advantage of other folks like Pharma to fuel his addiction, a gentle hand would help him by light years. Yet he pushes away (and kills) anyone who tries to help. Citing that they are trying to ‘cleanse him.’ Dumbass.
[NO MINOR ZONE]
- His only lover is his hand. I’m serious he gets NO bitches. Every time someone came on to him he would fumble like a dink. Helix is still trying to give him better pickup lines than ‘I won’t kill you… tonight.’
- For me Tarn is on the ace spectrum. He doesn’t want to participate in interfacing, but he likes to watch. You could probably find him in the corner at some swinger parties.
- Normally he doesn’t have time/is too tired to even try to get off. He runs the DJD he’s a busy Mech. Not to say he doesn’t have his own little fantasies.
- Top all the way. He WILL NOT bottom (unless you ask) Tarn likes to feel in charge, superior, loved. He likes to be serviced and he likes the idea of ‘capturing’ someone and making them obey his every word.
- is actually a super awkward bot. His old self- Damos- comes out when he is flirted with. He’s a bashful Mech that can’t take any praise.
- Likes the idea of his partner getting off to his voice, it makes him feel powerful that his voice alone could make someone so down bad (I am looking at you tarn fans)
- cw: drugs!!! He is the WORST person to give a doobie to, this mf takes one hit if a roach and is coughing all night. On another note, he probably does take medicine to help him sleep thanks to mama nickel.

Fluffy Wrecker Family headcanon
-Bulkhead always keeps a fluffy blanket and drawing materials in his subspace for Miko
-When Bulkhead gets flahbacks from his days as a wrecker on cybertron and feels guilt for killing mechs. Miko will climb up onto his chassis, take one of his servo bevor laying down above his sparkchambers and cuddeling up to the servo
-Miko found a katana keychain, painted it to match Wheeljack's swords and then gifted it to him. It has been Wheeljack good luck-charms ever since, he hang them around his rearview-mirror.
-Wheeljack has a scent for the interior of his alt mode, that smells like japanese cherry trees and Mikos favourite japanese sweets for Miko when she feels homesick.
-Bulkhead and Wheeljack always extend thier emp-field arround Miko. Miko doesn't know it and no one tells her.
-Once Ultra Magnus accepted Miko as a wrecker he helped her with studying, allowing her to sit in his drivers seat and go on patrol with him when she scores a C or better on a test in a class she struggels with.
-After getting help from Ultra Magnus and acing her tests, Miko started calling Ultra Magnus, sir. Because she wanted to do someting nice for him. Ultra Magnus doesn't show it but it made him very happy.
-Miko fell asleep in each of the wreckers alt-modes at least twice.

Got to see TFONE last night.
Spoilers obviously.
This is more looking at the world building and references than the film as a whole though.
The theater I was in wasn’t exactly full. Initially it was just me and a mother & son. Later on another family and some college/high school girls trickled in, but that was it. The box office so far, despite the film debuting at #1 and positive reviews and word of mouth, is pretty weak.
It’s been pointed out that once more that casuals don’t really care if it’s accurate to Transformers or not, they just like seeing the shredded metal Bionicles smashing each other and transforming into cool cars, skeletal dinosaurs, & skeletal nonsense animals.
Like it or not, the Bayformers are still very popular, heck the audience for The Last Knight I was in years ago was considerably bigger than this.
Do not be shocked if at some point the movies go back to these guys:
Tumblr media
Over these guys.
Tumblr media
The TFONE toys have rolled out, and have largely superseded the EarthSpark toys, but so far they don’t seem to be budging. Now before you say kids don’t like toys anymore, the kids I saw in Ollie’s were excited looking at the toys, but even at Good Stuff Cheap, the kids didn’t buy anything because it was still too expensive for them.
It’s all about price, and I’m sorry to say the TF toys are just too expensive still. I almost got a Sentinel Prime toy because I liked him in the film, but the cheapest thing was 10 dollars and not worth the amount as a 1-Step Changer.
The toy aspect I’ll circle back to because it’s relevant, but as for the movie itself, it’s good!
I liked it well enough, it’s definitely the film hard cores claim they wanted. Personally I still kinda prefer the Bay films. DotM is my personal favorite, and the use of Sentinel Prime as the main villain echos some of that. As a new origin story, it does what it’s supposed to do, and it’s the only time Optimus and Megatron being friends actually makes sense. The old G1 episode that sparked it, Megatron was never Orion’s friend, he just feigned interest to get Energon. Cyberverse and Prime, despite what the writers pat themselves on the back for a showing a nuanced Megatron, no he was just an unstable idiot that threw a 4 million year hissy fit when Optimus got what he wanted.
Here, TFONE takes great pains to establish Optimus and Megatron’s relationship. It’s very believable they used to be close friends, and I think part of it is the movie ignoring the political aspect that drove Aligned, IDW, and Cyberverse, instead casting both as underclass Worker-Bots that mined for Energon in the bowels of Cybertron. They’re just a couple of college aged dudes bonding over their love of the Primes, their wide eyed optimism and their job. Simple as that. Honestly I think the political aspects that stuff like IDW went so hard on was what made Orion and Megatron being friends before hard to believe, especially when most stories made it clear Megatron had a corrupt, semi selfish agenda to put himself in charge. Regardless if this film does well financially, hopefully the goodwill will see Hasbro and other creatives go with the blue collar approach for Optimus and Megatron’s origins. That works so much better. Also a big change is Orion was the well meaning reckless go getter, while Megatron as D-16 preferred structure and routine. Usually past stuff had it the opposite, so this is a welcome change. Even a recent manga took this to heart with Optimus as the reckless prankster doodling on Alpha Trion’s statue and falling asleep during class, while Megatron was the more attentive, studious one. More of this please.
Similarly, the future Autobots all being the Cogless while the future Decepticons were the high society/corrupt High Guard also makes so much more sense, as it never made sense before how the Decepticons were bad if they were the ones standing up to an oppressive government and the Autobots were the privileged ones that seemed to be defending it. Netflix WFC even acknowledges in-story that’s what’s happening but doesn’t really offer a reason as to why things escalated this badly and why we should root for the Autobots if they’re supposed to technically be the rich we’re supposed to eat.
So yes more of this, more the AUTOBOTS were the oppressed underclass. That makes much more sense, than they were the ones who largely benefitted from the old system.
As for the general lore, this is pretty divorced from what’s been the norm so far.
The Primus origin story is the default with the Quintessons as an ancient alien enemy that attacked the Transformers years ago still in play. From there it spirals into its own thing.
The Primes are simply known as the Primes, they’re never called The Thirteen at any stage. They were the peaceful, benevolent rulers of Cybertron who were prone to epic speeches. Zeta Prime is among the Primes, and was the Matrix holder before Sentinel Prime. It’s unclear if Zeta is the replacement for The Arisen, since The Arisen being Optimus was such an unpopular idea (wouldn’t it make more sense if he was Rodimus?), but until an art book comes out to clarify it, I’m leaning towards Zeta Prime being the replacement member.
Zeta’s character model was a loose hybrid of his previous designs but with a G1 ‘toon bent.

Also, Primes die (except Alpha Trion) during a Quintesson ambush. Alchemist Prime never goes on to become Maccadam in this universe. Megatronus Prime is the most popular Prime among the youngest population and he has a lot of merch. Megatron had posters and a sticker tattoo he proudly wore gifted to him by Orion. Megatronus was the biggest, and most powerful Prime, but unlike most incarnations, he didn’t turn on his siblings for selfish, Unicron related reasons or was perpetually on fire as he was among the first to be killed. If anything they made him look more like a G1 cartoon version of IDW Tarn. I thought it WAS Tarn at first until I corrected myself.
The Primes have more unique designs, taking cues from the Aligned designs, though Vector Prime is more specifically based on his Galaxy Force design, but otherwise are their own thing. Potentially the upcoming Age of Primes successor to Legacy may use these as a basis. In particular they finally found a readable design for this monstrosity.
Tumblr media
Taking the base idea and pushing it into an Ed-209 direction.
Tumblr media
Sentinel Prime is the current leader of Cybertron, but he’s a fraud. Formerly an assistant to the Primes, he hated them and coveted their power and the Matrix. Making a deal with the Quintessons, he stages a coup that kills the Primes, with Sentinel slaying several himself, Megatronus (and much later Alpha Trion) among them. While having a certain charm, he’s a selfish, greedy weasel who sold out his people for power, robbing the newest generation (Orion, Megatron, Bumblebee and Elita among them) of their Cogs and making them into a worker class to mine Energon to pay off the Quintessons. It’s never explained WHY the Quints attacked Cybertron, though maybe that’s something for TFTWO to tackle if we get one. While described more as paying off debts to loan sharks, it comes more off as Sentinel paying them to leave Cybertron alone. Sentinel’s actions also caused Cybertron’s energy crisis, as in this universe, the Matrix itself is tied to the flow of Energon on the planet. When Sentinel ripped open Zeta’s chest to claim the Matrix, the babble disintegrated like it did in RotF, denying Sentinel the power he craved and starving the planet of free flowing liquid Energon. Instead, he took Megatronus’ T-Cog as a trophy. Like RotF, the Matrix only appears to those worthy of it. This again makes more sense than just having it laying around for writers to make Megatron be worthy of it instead when he absolutely shouldn’t be, let alone able to use it at all.
Despite the Quintessons being the background antagonists, it’s never clarified in the film if they’re still related to Quintus Prime or not. To an extent I’d sort of prefer if they weren’t related, I’ve always been mixed on the idea that the Transformers created the Quints, vs the more clever meta gag the TFs are in-universe product created by the Quints.
The Quints, what little we see of them, have unique designs that are way different from the tiki mask wearing eggs but still harken back to them somewhat. They took great pains to make them look scary, giving them a more bio mechanical look. Even their ship looks somehow alive, having the same bio mechanical design. The Quintessons aren’t usually known for their fighting ability but these guys are brutal. Their foot soldiers are crablike versions of these one offs from the G1 ‘toon:
Tumblr media
No Sharkiticons for these guys, at least not yet.
A funny observation is while the Transformers have a written alien language, it flip flops between a Japanese looking script to just being straight up English. Perhaps English is galactic standard on Cybertron.
Circling back to the toys, the toys don’t take advantage of a unique gimmick within the story itself. The T-Cogs are a major plot point, and like in more modern media, are the reason the Transformers can Transform at all. Not having one is seen as bad, as some throwaway lines see some Cogless having tried to Transform without one, but twisting themselves into pretzels.
Despite being present when D-16 openly said he wanted to kill Sentinel dead for his betrayal (Megatron LOVED Sentinel originally, a big don’t meet your heroes moment for him), Alpha Trion saw fit to gift the four Cogless workers the Cogs from the Primes to shape their destiny and save Cybertron. Orion got Prima, Bumblebee got Micronus (cuz he’s small, geddit?), but the other two I’m not clear on. The other donated Cogs were Onyx’s and Alchemist’s, but who they went to I’m not super sure. I THINK Elita got Onyx and D-16 got Alchemist, but feel free to correct me. Later on, D-16 stole back Megatronus’ Cog from Sentinel, and installed it in himself after removing Alchemist’s. Doing so causes D-16 to evolve into his more traditional Megatron body, with a tricked out triple barrel cannon in place of his usual cannon. Sentinel also briefly turns into artillery laden battle mode using Megatronus’ Cog.
My point being is you could’ve had the One toyline be built around a Mini-Con/Powermaster like gimmick, where plugging in a Cog unlocks a battle mode and the ability to Transform. Even if it’s not 100% accurate, how cool would it be to have a toy of Elita where upon plugging in Solus Prime’s Cog causes a pop out Solus Forge Hammer to appear. Alternatively, the Cog itself Transforms into a Prime themed weapon, so Orion Pax gets a Cog that turns into Prima’s sword or Megatron gets a beastly clip on cannon from Onyx. Stuff like that would be really cool I feel. They kinda have a Cog theme in the current 1-Step Cog Changers, but it’s not quite right.
My only real complaint with the movie itself is the High Guard, the future Decepticons and soldiers that worked with the Primes originally, feel tacked on. Screamer, the Waves and the Jets occupy the Guard, with Starscream as the leader. They broke off from Sentinel after seeing his betrayal, but they also seem very keen on seizing power for themselves, as Starscream has no Nobel intentions, he simply wants to be in charge as those in charge have the power and luxury. The Guard are responsible for minor attacks and inconveniences to stick it to Sentinel, but the movie only tells us this when we meet the group. It might’ve helped if there was a scene early on that better establishes them, like Orion and D-16 watching a news report about them, and D scoffs at their audacity or something. Nevertheless Megatron high jacking the Guard is a clever subversion on his and Starscream’s schtick: Megatron is the young upstart who took it over from the much older established Starscream. Future resentment should be amusing though despite being humiliated in front of his squad, and his voice box damaged, Starscream seems content to follow for now.
Shockwave is also more of a comic relief character here. He’s very emotional and silly, berating the others for not having Bee’s gag on tight enough so he’d shut up, and there’s a running gag about Elita punching him in his eye, that caused him to shut up and listen to her. Shockwave was also the one to try and help Starscream when D-16 beats the crap out of him, but Soundwave stops him. No logic from this version, so perhaps Shockwave in the future will be more like his traitorous Marvel G1 self? Skybound also entertained a huge departure in Shockwave as a highly emotional mad scientist, so we’ll see if this bares fruit.
All and all, this is a solid entry and as it’s own thing (Lorenzo was finally forced to admit One is a new universe unrelated to Bayformers), but with the movie currently struggling to make back its budget, it’s functionally a flop right now. It will probably do far better on Streaming like RotB (besides P+, it also did really well on Netflix in other countries) but with people generally being okie-dokie with the film’s premise, hopefully that sees Hasbro using this backstory going forward for other projects as this is what we should’ve had for Aligned, Cyberverse, EarthSpark & IDW, not the crappily written moral ambiguity we’ve been stuck with most people hate.
