(I wanna first say that I haven't finished the shivering isles but I've heard plenty about it so correct me if I get anything wrong) I agree that weather (especially destructive weather) ties in really well with the duality of sheo/jygg. The whole idea of FORECASTING. Just the fact that the sky is technically able to be predicted, but since variables and chaos is everywhere it would take tremendous effort to get to 100% accuracy. It's both chaos and order at the same time because the order is there within the chaos, the weather is LOGICAL, but the logic is buried so deep and so incomprehensible unless you have the processing power of Jyggalag.

I can imagine the eternal battle between them as a raging storm and the meteorologist who's constantly improving their calculations trying to map its trajectory. Getting close, but not perfect.

OK well without futher ado! i will start by saying that i am NOT a meteorologist by any capacity. i just have a special interest and that is not nearly the same thing as a degree. however i will do my best to explain things in the most understandable way i can and back them up with a source (mostly the nws/noaa bc that's what's most available to me). and ill have some lore backing too dw. im very sorry if anyone is sensitive about hurricanes as i will be talking quite a bit about them, this is your warning to not go further if they are a touchy subject to you (which i totally understand).

so. firstly i think sheogorath's association with thunderstorms is really underutilised. severely so i'd argue. it makes entire sense when you put it in a meterological sense.

from the noaa: thunderstorms are formed by moisture, lifting, and most importantly for this point, unstable air. this instability is essentially the fuel of the thunderstorm. the more unstable the air, the higher the possibility for severe weather. there's even a metric for the instability in the atmosphere known as CAPE, measured in Joules per kilogram. which is just a fun little fact.

sheogorath is the mad god. arguably the most unstable force in the entire elder scrolls universe. so it makes a hell of a lot of sense that thunderstorms would be his domain, assuming physics there works like physics here (which - i can only assume it does to an extent. grain of salt and all.)

so, sheogorath is the storm. by extention, jyggalag, too, would be storms. of course, you could ask why the prince of order would have anything to do with storms. but look at the greymarch.

at the end of every era, jyggalag returns to genuinely destroy the shivering isles in the name of order before turning back into sheogorath. it's not ever explicitly stated HOW jyggalag destroys it, only that he does.

the prince of order can only see himself acting in complete accordance with the concept of order. he can only see himself as a beacon of light amongst dark chaos. in his mind, all is calm and falls into its right place, natural reactions.

jyggalag is a hurricane. a collected center, organised and powerful, yet all that surrounds him is pure destruction. there are very clear signs of his arrival - sheogorath's dialogue feeling more lucid and serious at the end of the shivering isles dlc, for example. hurricanes, too, have warning signs. VERY recently with hurricane erin, the eastern coast of the united states experienced flooding and rip currents without even being hit by erin directly. that is how powerful and foreboding these storms are. they don't even need to make landfall to have a presence.

flooding leads into another point i want to make. the shivering isles take appearance as islands, to literally no one's surprise. naturally, islands are surrounded by water. i'm hoping that isn't new information to anyone here.

storm surge could be insanely deadly here. storm surge, which is when the storm (hurricane in this case) causes an abnormal rise of water, is usually the most lethal aspect of a hurricane. an island is surrounded water on all sides. there is no evacuating inland for the residents of the isles. they have to face the greymarch and they have nowhere to run.

if the greymarch is quite literally a hurricane, it would make so much sense as to why sheogorath fears it so much (besides losing himself) and why it is so immaculately destructive in the first place. it gives jyggalag a looming presence and, most importantly for the narrative, it makes the hero of kvatch mantling sheogorath even more insane. genuinely imagine fighting jyggalag, trying to get a hit in and trying to adjust to becoming sheogorath, as you are quite literally trudging through flood waters and hurricane force winds (which, for anyone not in the know, here's the scale for that). you are proving yourself to be the mad god through feats only a god could achieve relatively unscathed. it's not that you fought a daedric prince and won. it's that everything was stacked against you and you still won. unstoppable force vs immovable object.

and, still, at least part of the isles would be in disarray. there would be much to rebuild. but you're the mad god now, and the subjects of the isles need you. they always have.
