For the last 2 months I've been really struggling with my sexuality and myself in general, mostly because of what happened to me in February. Things haven't been the same ever since. But I think I'm slowly getting better with each day and I've started to appreciate myself and who I am again, and also learning things about myself every day.

So today being the ace day, I can say that no matter the bad days and what others may think or say, I'm proud to be asexual and also somewhere on the aro spec (still figuring that out), so I just wanted to say that no matter what happens and how you may feel, I'm really really really proud of you 💜👑

I just wanted to say thank you to all the aspec people who fought for this space to be save enough for me and other ace people can be out and comfortable here.

Also at least one of the characters in every story I made is gonna be ace or aro. Every single time cuz we exist and deserve to be seen

I don't think younger/newer users fully grasp the shit show that ace discourse was around 2014-17

It was so hostile that, to this day, discussions that begin to derail just enough can make me physically nauseous, some specific mockery trigger crying sessions years later. We lost most accounts with any sort of ace positivity. There was no information, no support, and all this damage was done predominantly by other queer people.

All this to say that you, however you identify yourself, should be engaging with aphobic comments the same way you do any hate. We don't sugarcoat or try to be comprehensive with people who are blatantly racist, homophobic or terfs, so why give it a pass just because it's coming from a queer person? I see how this tolerance goes and it's done enough damage as it is.
