ok I'm going to blame my personality less for social failures. auditory processing issues are really isolating. I'm at a large dinner where I'm interested in the subconversations but I can't follow them without leaning in too much or asking people to repeat too often. I took improv with a nearly-deaf person once and was privately pretty annoyed at how difficult scenes with him were. and I don't want to make other people feel that way so I just nod when I don't understand. then I say dumb words because I don't understand. it's hard to make friends in the age of music everywhere

stuck thinkin hard bc I wanna do some bloodborne tarot drawings for the major arcana but I don’t know what to do with Gehrman bc I think most people would assign him to Death bc of the grim reaper aesthetic going on but the classic Rider Waite illustration being a dead knight on a horse trampling over a corpse is just literally Ludwig, just an undying knight rotting away on a corpse pile in bloodborne’s equivalent of hell

like the card also represents transition/change and inevitability which just works so much better with Ludwig’s role in Bloodborne as a cautionary tale of this is what happens to every hunter and even the greatest of us cannot escape it. It just seems so perfect for him I’m not sure what other card to give him because I can’t just assign him to the Moon bc its fucking bloodborne and every character has moon motifs and there’s literally a fucking Moon Presence

So that said I’m really thinking Gehrman is probably just going to be the Hanged Man because of the card’s meaning being linked to sacrifice/surrender, uncertainty, imprisonment, and apathy with a good old side of soft martyrdom. It has a lot of imagery dealing with being unable to escape from a situation or help oneself, often being associated with pause and contemplation which. Man it fits Gehrman so much better than just giving him Death bc of the grim reaper ass scythe and the fact that idk, he kills you. The hanged man also seems to have a common interpretation related to notions of letting go and I mean… come on now

how many times has there been an option to end a game with a character being like “congrats you did it, unfortunately the reward for it fucking sucks so you should just let me kill you (but not really kill you) so that you don’t have to suffer in eternal purgatory” hes the embodiment of severing ties and ‘letting go’ in so many aspects of his character, simultaneously physically attached from the ‘waking world’ yet unable to emotionally sever himself from it. He cannot make peace with his isolation, and he cannot ‘go mad’ from it either. He’s just forced to exist in a place of stasis as hunters constantly come and go and sometimes never come back should they turn or become trapped in the nightmare. Idk just some overthinkin

Okay it's not just me right. It's WEIRD how the Knights Ardante are just. Not around in Ophilia's story

I know this was retroactively explained away by the sheer losses the Order had to endure during the events of COTC but also?? They were present in H'aanit's story?? It SOUNDED like a fair amount of them were mobilized in Marsalim the moment they heard that Redeye was holed up in the ruins

Was Redeye just so much of a threat that it took more priority over seeing the Kindling through

What exactly were the preparations they made for Lianna before Ophilia took over the role? Was there a scene at some point where Ophilia was denied those preparations because she wasn't supposed to be the person for the job in the first place? Was that Mattias's doing??

One of the stated purposes of the Knights Ardante is that they would assist believers on their pilgrimages

SO WHERE THE FUCK ARE THEY??

I KNOW for story reasons Ophilia HAS to be making the trek alone anyway but it's a little weird how much stock they put in the Lanthorn and they just. Let her go alone?

Wasn't it also stated somewhere that the pilgrimage was dangerous and that some Flamebearers never managed to complete it

Were there people sent to retrieve the Lanthorn in the case of a failed pilgrimage

Actually what even happens if the Kindling fails. Do they just wait for the next one or do they sent a replacement immediately

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe it's a pilgrimage thing to ultimately have it be a solitary mission cuz they do also say in the Timeline that 'pilgrimages became popular'

Is there also relevance in the way that Solistia has 4 Flames in place of Orsterra's 3. Where did Orsterra's Flames come from. When Aelfric brought them down to the continent how did it look

did it spread like wildfire and the ones we see now are just remnants from that time?

I mean there's LEGENDS about the 3 specific places where the Sacred Flames are APPARENTLY so maybe not??

Edit: ok First Flame was a stupid question it could actually literally just be the exact flame that Aelfric brough down from the heavens but also why only put that one Guardian there to defend it. Did Flamesgrace think that was enough to protect it. How necessary is it

Like it can manifest directly in individuals like the Flameguards when they've got Aelfric's blessing or something? and it did some weird shit in Ochette's Chapter 4. RIN!!! Top 5 Ludwig Moments

I had to walk around to analyse this in my head frfr

1. When you say yes to “are my church hunters the honorable Spartans I hoped they would be”. Just how he still thanks you even as a beast and decides to fall peacefully to sleep since his work is finally done ;-;

2. The dialogue when you wear Church garments. He still asks if his hunters are still as honorable as he hoped. He trained them himself!! He wanted to know if his legacy still lives on.

3. “Good Hunter, have you seen the thread of light?” It shows his ideals and what he thought throughout his life as a hunter. He never wanted to know or ascend, he only wanted to keep everyone safe and he failed at that 🥹

4. Phase 2 cutscene. So much emotions. The Holy Moonlight Sword giving him lucidity once again even for the last time. It’s a final send off to the legend of the Holy Blade. This is also tied with his phase 1 cutscene but it’s much more painful to me lmao

5. His boss theme. Phase 2. Literal chills. I wish I could go back in time so that I could hear it for the first time again. Literal reawakening of my creativity and got me out of my year long art block.
