Review:

One mistaken name on a coffee cup and a run in with your boss who you kind of have a crush on... so begins a texting conversation between two people who definitely are "not" falling for each other... but how long can they keep this going before they both get caught or worse, fired? Izzy is starting her first day at a new job and decides to grab her favorite drink, a pumpkin spice latte.... but when the clock is ticking and her fear of being late leads to her taking another customer's drink and saying that her name is Amy instead and immediately crashing into a very hot guy, things only spiral... because said hot guy turns out to be her new boss, Blake. Blake finds out that Izzy lied about her name but so begins an unlikely friendship through texts that lead to more as both Izzy and Blake swearing to be only friends yet falling for one another. They can't be in a relationship because if anyone finds out one of them could be fired... but they can't stay away from one another either... so what are they gonna do? This one definitely wasn't for me, sadly I just kind of didn't vibe with Izzy's manic pixie chaos gremlin personality or Blake's lack of a personality. I do adore workplace relationship romances but this one just didn't really feel all that interesting to me. I did like the friends to lovers aspect, but I just didn't vibe all that much with the romance between Blake and Izzy. It just didn't feel like there was that much chemistry or romance between the two of them. While this one wasn't for me if you like contemporary workplace relationships, maybe give this a go!

Accidentally Amy

A 3 Star read for me | This book had some typos and formatting mistakes and was definitely far from perfect but it was a fun, little read.

It was short, about 240 pages, it was funny and it's a fun read especially as a breath of fresh air after a heavier read.

unfortunately, school is back on... so in these 4.5 months i've read 19 books!

top book: since this is a collation of 4.5 months and i read i lot of series, i'll pick 2: the house with chicken legs (read march, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐) & i hope this doesn't find you (read may, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐) both of these books were wonderfully written with an engaging plot and covered some deep themes without it getting heavy or boring. these were a

top series: picking two! nevermoor by jessica townsend (i read all 3 of these books) and the illuminae files (read 2/3 books). both of these series are ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because. they're just. amazing.

other books i read:

three dark crowns series by kendare blake ⭐⭐⭐⭐. MWAH. DELICIOUS. fantasy lands, murderous sisters and politics? COUNT ME IN. the first book was crazy boring since it was all context but it's IMPORTANT context. also the last 10% of it is INSANE. would recommend!

the legends of eerie-on-sea series by thomas taylor mysterious orphan trope going adventuring done right. the suspense is crazy and even after re-reading these books for like the 3rd time it's still as engaging as ever! ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

the mulberry tree by allison rushby mc is annoying sometimes, but overall a good book with a good plot and i'm ngl i really liked the realistic fantasy element of this! would recommend for younger readers since immy (mc) is 10 turning 11 and i think adults would love it too. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

before the coffee gets cold by toshikazu kawaguchi sweet, heart touching stories and a cup of time travelling coffee. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

coraline by neil gaiman a horror story for kids, but i loved it. i'm ngl the concept did creep me out, and it did its job well. would definitely reread. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

othello by shakespeare it was actually not that bad! iago was characterised really well and the machiavel characterisation used to justify is actions (a machiavel is just someone who justifies morally wrong actions to gain power) was really interesting. watching othello's descent into madness was also well written. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

demon slayer (kimetsu no yaiba) vol. 1 by koyoharu gotouge how can you NOT like demon slayer. go read it rn. or watch it. whichever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

the spanish love deception by elena armas, icebreaker by hannah grace and accidentally amy by lynn painter these are all grouped together bc they're all romances i dnfed. i need some sort of plot in my novels and i need it to be 70% plot 30% romance or i lose interest. this was 90% romance and 10% plot so i really just couldn't. accidentally amy was decent since lynn painter is really good at writing romance, but in both icebreaker and spanish love deception they fell in love really easily. also, i skipped like 80% of icebreaker since it was all smut and i don't really want to read that.

my silly thought process behind this below

this is probably my fav quote from the entire game and i always imagined its supposed to represent the 3 second death victims vessels that we know of

1st one is miriam whose decaying body was 'waiting' to be used during the profane sabbath by gary, the one whos 'already walked thru it'

2nd one being tiffany, she did the ritual on herself in the basement which is described as the 'lowest depths' and theres the huge segment of the apartments involving trying to get there in complete darkness; also she went to the unseen world which is also an evil dark void dimension aka 'where nobody could find her' (plus u cant use a portal to hell that u cant even reach, and she was a rejected one)

and finally the 3rd one is amy, the perfect vessel garys been looking for; who thru her work at the clinic, getting close to him, being constantly manipulated, and attending the get-together party he invited her to, walked right into his grabby evil demon hands. my god i hate him so much

End of Vol4 (its more funny if i give 0 context) And then something for Tales From The Road, I'm sure their version of the classic beach episode would be lake day. I'm also sure one of them (likely Jack) gets nearly drowned by a merfolk. He did mention in the most recent installment that the great lakes were "lousy" with them. Yeah I wonder how they found that out huh

He got dragged into a wedding dress butique at the girls' night out.

As much as i like putting robots in dresses, i hc that Omega honestly kinda dislikes/doesn't care for women's/fem apparel. In his eyes they emphasize all the wrong things (looking soft/dainty/sweet). Not to mention how impractical e.g. dresses are.

It took a lot of convincing get him to try the stuff on:

Rouge (currently rocking a party dress herself): “Do i give off [any of the words on Omega's list] vibes? How about Blaze (in a light summer dress) over here?"

Omega (who hasn't & doesn't associate either of them with "softness" etc.,): "mmmmmmmmmmm" (If he answers truthfully he's gonna get roped into "Say Yes to The Dress")

And Omega finds out that he doesn't mind some of the dresses. That a select few actually... look quite good on him:

They either clash nicely (depicted dress) in a way that accentuates his form by putting something soft & light against his angular & heavyset build, or bring up other positive aspects - things Omega only now learned to look for/analyse in fashion - e.g. boldness/grandness/fierceness. He doesn't mind that at all.

@shadowsfascination showed me this post from the Writing-prompt-s blog:

“Some say that an invisible red string is tied around the fingers of soulmates meant to be together forever. As it turns out, you can see these red strings, and have therefore created a highly successful matchmaking business.”

It gave me two brief ideas. The first one is a little more angsty and strictly involves Amy, while the second is fluffy and Shadamy-centric. They both have happy endings, though.

Angsty version:

Amy learns very early on about her gift, as it’s rare but not unheard of. She’s precocious about it; when she’s five, she’s prone to doing things like seeing happy couples with unconnected strings and bluntly saying, “You’re bad for each other.” Naturally, Amy’s mother is mortified by this behavior and urges her to stop doing it.

At first, this seems like a normal reaction...until one night at dinner when Amy asks, “Mom, Dad, why aren’t your strings attached? Mom is attached to the mailman instead.”

That’s how the truth comes out that her mom is cheating on her dad, which leads to their divorce. Amy blames herself, and her parents don’t do a very good job of convincing her otherwise. The resentment’s there, and she can tell. From then on, she resolves never to share her gift–her curse–with anyone for fear of ruining something else.

This continues until she hears two good friends of hers talking. One is trying to defend her clearly abusive partner, saying he’s “not always like that,” he’s “usually very sweet,” etc. And Amy just can’t hold it in any longer. She blurts out that they’re not meant to be together. The one she belongs with is the best friend who brought her in, the man who’s holding her as she’s speaking. Everyone’s silent for a moment, and Amy immediately regrets it...until six months later, when the two are dating and thank her for stepping in.

Amy embraces her gift at last and uses it to help others, becoming a matchmaker and relationship therapist. However, she spends just as much time “matchbreaking,” carefully working to break up couples who are bad for each other. She learns that sometimes, the best way to spread love is by ending ties that pull in the wrong direction, like pruning a plant of old leaves to allow new ones to thrive. It’s hard sometimes, but there’s no one who’s better at it.

Her mother never makes amends, but her father apologizes profusely for how he treated her when she was younger and introduces her to her new stepmom, thanking her for giving him the opportunity to meet her.

Now, the happier option:

Amy can see the strings tying people to their soulmates. Aside from aromantics like Sonic, who have little knots/bows on their fingers to show they’re complete on their own, everyone has a string...except for Amy herself. Hurt but determined, she decides to start a matchmaking business to spread love around the world in her own way, even if she can’t be a part of it.

Then, she meets Shadow, the only other person she’s met without a string. He brushes off her concern, as he doesn’t put stock in the concept and has reluctantly resigned himself to being a “dead end,” but Amy insists on trying to match him up with his soulmate all the same, as she feels everyone who wants a soulmate must have one. She finds it’s not so easy without the cheat sheet she’s had all her life. While getting to know Shadow and considering all the wonderful things he could offer as a partner, she can’t help but fall for him herself. Likewise, Shadow sees all the care and effort she’s put into bringing him happiness and fulfillment, the passion and devotion no one else could ever match. He doesn’t stand a chance, either. Amy takes the plunge and gets together with him even without that divine confirmation.

The truth of the matter, one that Shadow suspects, is that someone with the gift simply can’t see their own string, but Amy doesn’t need that validation to know she belongs with him.

Amy's Bakery is plagued by the sweet (tooths/teeth? IDK how to pluralize "Sweet Tooth") of Surge and Blaze, her two Girlfriends.

Surge is, without contest, the main problem, as the moment Amy and/or Blaze takes their eyes off of her while she's in there, she'll immediately begin snacking.

She'll only feel regret if she's caught by those two, which will make her stop for a bit, or if she gets a stomachache, which she will recover from, and do it all over again.

I HEARTTED THIS IDEA SO BAD THAT I MADE DESIGNS EAT UP!!!!!

wears a man slut costume -> atsumu (duh), ushijima (doesn't mean to but with the way he's built, all his costumes end up man-slutty), terushima (something tells me that he would dress up as the wonka man unfortunately), bokuto (says he made some serious gains and wanted to wear a costume that shows off his pecs), osamu (you don't expect it, but in the end he's just like his brother)

lean towards doing a goofy group costume -> hanamaki, matsukawa (these two were planning their costumes since july...), tanaka (dressed up as a meme with nishinoya), nishinoya (dressed up as a meme with tanaka), sugawara (egged on nishinoya and tanaka to dress up as a meme and ended up joining them), tendou (he tried to rally the rest of the shiratorizawa guys to all be guy fieri with him but no one was biting...)

low effort costume -> kuroo (dressed up as a salary man and called it a day), iwaizumi, futakuchi (bastard gives me the impression that he would wear a name tag for a halloween costume), suna

paid an arm and a leg for a 1-to-1 costume replica -> kenma (was bidding on ebay for legolas' movie props), yaku (only paid big bucks so he can flex on kuroo), oikawa (he heard there was a costume contest and he wanted to win)

actually wears something normal for the halloween party -> daichi, kai, yamaguchi (he definitely dresses cute like a minion or something), ennoshita, goshiki, komori

doesn't dress up -> tsukishima, sakusa (don't even ask these two), shirabu (working an all nighter at the hospital), kageyama (genuinely forgot it was halloween), akaashi (overslept bc of work and missed the party)

ordered his costume too late and it didn't deliver on time for the party -> lev (idiot)

Welcome to an AU that's been rattling in my brain for a while, the Accidentally Organicized AU (name taken from Roboticized and then reversed)

The start of this is, Eggman tries to roboticize Sonic, Sonic dupes Metal Sonic into going into the machine instead, and it does the Opposite of its intended effect. Eggman now has an organic hoglet trying it's best to keep functioning

Also Metal has fluffy quills because I said so
