Folk Ways for an Acadian or French Canadian folk practitioner

I want to start an ongoing list of Acadian and French Canadian religious and popular folk ways that I've been learning about for the last two years. My references will be at the end for further reading!

Blessing a candle on Candlemas (Feb. 2) with holy water will allow you to have a light whenever there is sickness and storms hitting your home. Traditionally on Candlemas, the light is lit and guided through every room in the house to bless all its corners for the year. It was even paraded in the farmer's fields. (Dupont)

The 25th April, on St. Mark's Day, is the ideal day to bless your fields or garden before putting in the first seeds. This ensures the growing food to be blessed by this saint. (Maillet)

Animals have been known to speak in human tongues on Christmas Eve. (Maillet)

If you feel that nothing is going right in your day, your homemade bread sours, or general bad luck assails you, simply boil some holy medals. (Dupont)

Did you know Eva has a type?

First it was Luc. It's told in the start of the book he's from a rich family and a little full of himself in a way and even more so when he became vamp and was a "prince" for a little while so he's kind of powerful.

Then it was Jacks, our beloved prince of hearts with a deadly kiss. He's not exactly rich but we know he had a good place in Apollo's court, he's a powerful fate and he's full of himself like the most immortal people are.

And the last and the least Apollo, the prince of Magnificent North. He's powerful and rich enough to fill bathtubs with jewerly and swim in it if he wants to. Do I even have to say he's full of himself after everything we get to know once Evangeline has reached there? Maybe his million paintings of himself tell it.

Notice how I repeat myself?

They're all full of themselfs, they're kind of rich and definetly powerful people. And they're all princes. They're all god damn princes. So is Chaos and Eva was interested in him and his pretty green eyes TOO.

Citroën Acadiane, 1978. Quite late in the Dyane's model life a van version was derived from it, replacing the 2CV Fourgonnette. It remained in production until 1987, 4 years after the Dyane itself was discontinued.
