New subject appears to be of undocumented species. Bioluminescent membrane may be used in hunting, further research pending. Length of tail may point to relations with local snake species? Unlikely, research pending. Thin tail and visible bone structure may point to possible malnutrition/starvation.

Subject appears to be very young. Subject class 223 likely to assume paternal role again as he it did with [REDACTED]. Subject class 223 demonstrates remarkable tolerance with new subject, developing new behavioral patterns in response to that of the new subject. Integration into subject class 223’s pod pending? Further observation required.

Tia (short for Nautia) is having a time. Not a good time. A really bad time, actually. Sure, her wounds have become scars and even if her torn fin aches she can still swim, but the abyssal plain has little in the way of food for a reef mer, and the algae clinging to the hull of the sunken landwalker ship was her last hope. Too bad the ship belonged to someone else.

So yes, she is having a very bad day.

Apparently I have good timing lmao I just finished this up when I saw that the fic updated!! So of course I had to go read the new chapter! All the adorable little babies!!

Anyways, idk if this is entirely done but he's good for now, might get some little touch ups as I go along, but we'll see.

I actually ended up doing a decent amount of research for this design, mostly via youtube videos of people playing the mod. But hey, it helped with some of the design aspects that were hidden in my main reference pic lol.

Hey Abi ♥ I wanna know about the JayTim Mer AU :3

ZERO!!!!! Of course you pick one of the two that is just pure smut lmao xD

I have a few different Mer AU's but that one is def just smut... wait no I checked okay I was thinking about the Mer AU I'm building in my head but haven't written down, okay this one is not fully smut, but uh yeah that's the goal

This is in part inspired by the Mer AU that @ladytauria is writing as by a few other (non-smut) Mer Au I read

Basically, Jason is a Mer that was captured and is now being hold by some humans in a rescue program.

Tim is the human that is really into studying Mer's (for reasons) and takes an interest in him.

Over time they become closer to each other etc. while Jason is still wary of other humans because Tim tends to use (albeit clumsily) Mer behaviour to make it easier on Jason.

And oh no! He accidentally started courting the Mer without realizing it ;)

On the side he's also slowly realizing that the place he works at is not completely legal up to code safe etc. and tries to dismantle it / get Jason back into the ocean and hopefully back to his family, if possible.

But it's a very slow processes (basically I was kinda annoyed at how fast the Mer's in those fics tended to get rescued and freed and how fast a human managed to gain their trust and I want this to take at the least a full year)

So Jason has a funny human mate and Tim is aware that he now is his mate but does not realize what it all entails until he's suddenly balls deep in him <3

At least the scars Jason leaves look good and give him some kind of reputation as dangerous delinquent

A much better version of Seiche! Still not sold on his face but I was getting frustrated by redraw nth so this is it for now. He's an Abyssal mer, head of the royal guard, and a bit of an ass. The spots on his torso, ear fins, and eyes are bioluminescent in the trenches. The marks on his tail are actually scars from a jellyfish mishap in the darker depths. He doesn't think highly of Reef mers, sees them as "All flash, no fin."

I'm sure he and Nautia will get along great!

I recently read Abyss Eclipse by @solarrush and was immediately inspired to draw baby eclipse.

It is a great story, and I highly recommend everyone to go read Song for a Siren and Abyss Eclipse for some good mer content.
